Character Basics
Character Name: Derge Kyelgamin
Character Age: 17
Character Race: Human
Character Gender: Mail (THAT'S RIGHT, HE'S A DESCENDENT OF THE POST OFFICE).
About the Character
Character Personality: He's never really laid back, though luckily he never takes anything too seriously. That does not speak for his ability to take jokes though; he's normally not a fan and won't tolerate much in the way of sarcasm. He's generally nice and leads towards the benefit of others, but when he sees the situation being too much of a hassle, his morality has no problem neglecting the person in need. This aspect of him unfortunately leaves him with an incredibly hard-to-hit soft spot; he never opens up to anyone he isn't directly related to or has an extremely close relationship to.
Overall, Derge isn't hard to get along with. Unless you're looking for immediately gratifying relationships, he's a good person to know as a contact due to his resolve and determination to his goals. If there's a problem that needs solving, he isn't one to give up easily. This often leads to a lot of useless debating on his part, despite possibly being wrong he always sees a need to continue the debate until he wins.
His final defining factor is that while not being reserved, he is not the most outspoken. He usually won't avoid social interaction from being shy, rather just being lazy and never feeling a need to go out of his way to be social. On the other hand, when the socialization is brought to him he definitely will make his voice heard. He's typically proud, though not power crazy.
Character Appearance: Derge is decently tall at 6'5", he is broad and somewhat muscular, though his physique doesn't bear a noticeable six-pack or biceps and such examples, though he is a little on the heavy side at 193 lbs, mainly due to his tall and wide build with some muscle. He has no obvious rolls or flabby tissue. His complexion is tan and fairly dark, considered borderline Latino. He has naturally lighter-brown hair, but he dyes it a very dark blue, to where it appears black at the roots, immediately changing to a dark (but not quite navy) blue, appearing absolutely extraordinary.
Some defining features include black tribal tattoos on the outsides of his upper arms, a sizable brown mixed with red birthmark on his lower right back, and silver-colored eyes. His pupils and black as natural, though his irises are a radiant silver with a slight black outline, as to make them defined to the whites that make up the sides of his eyes. No adjustments or fake contacts used; it is simply a gene from the family; though a rare one. His mother had them, but his father did not.
Derge typically dresses in a red sleeveless shirt, as the sleeves seemed obviously ripped off. Topped over that he wears what he calls his "battle vest"; a tight leather jacket with lots of ornamental metals and buttons stripped about it, all colored a dark silver with a low level of reflective luster. The vest is usually buttoned up, and has very short tight sleeves made of cloth that cover about half of his upper arm and half of his tattoos. This crazy garment does cause some racket while he walks. He is aware of this, while aware that stealth is sometimes necessary, thus has a string in his left vest pocket rigged to the ornaments from the inside which he can pull, stopping their movement and nullifying any 'clanging' he may cause while moving.
On his other half, he wears windbreaker pants in a shade of a navy blue that matches his hair slightly and doesn't look awkward with his red shirt, should he take his battle vest off. He wears black fingerless gloves to wield his weapon easier, though has a habit of taking the left one off to allow him to channel his Conjure ability easier. On his feet he sports black hiking boots, cut at the bottom of his shins though overlapped by his pants. The boots have silver decorations and white laces. He doesn't wear any jewelry since he feels it would hinder him in combat.
The only thing off to the side on him is a black double sheath, strapped to his left by the chain of what it sheaths - the chain of his weapon is wrapped on his waist through loops in his pants (sometimes) into a small circular sheath with one flat side that's facing his back.
Character Hobbies/Activities: Solving problems is his favorite. He is most happy when he's using his logic. He's also a big fan of unique weapons, hence his use of a rather unheard of weapon.
Battle Statistics
Character Position: Neutral Good
Character Abilities:
-Natural High Energy Reserve: Derge has a naturally high energy reserve, both in stamina and magic potential (MP or Mana). He could drain from either source to use any of his abilities; stamina is measured in fatigue and Mana is innate though often relates to how fit-to-act he feels.
-Concentration: When Derge focuses on just one thing, he is able to make extremely quick mathematical and physics-based calculations based on possible manipulations on the objects or objects in the environment. Most commonly used to successfully manipulate his weapon, though can be briefly applied to other things. This can be easily interrupted by outside stimuli such as sudden sounds, touches, or changes in perception. He usually bears no emotion while using this ability. May only drain stamina energy.
--Psychofocus: Advanced Concentration; Derge enters this state regardless if intentional or not when Concentrating for a prolonged period of time, only while never having been interrupted. His eyes begin to glow profusely, and his state of mental comprehension becomes that hundred-fold of a normal human, including all logic and not just math or physics. This state drains his stamina energy rapidly, and impossible to control. He becomes harder to interrupt. If interrupted before all of his current energy is used up, he will be incredibly fatigued. If not, he will pass out and hyper-sleep; an unconscious state in which he must remain unconscious for a minimum of the time he spent in Psychofocus. Once that period has passed, he will remain asleep unless woken up, or he gets a normal amount for a whole night's sleep.
-Phasing: By converting himself into his own energy and mentally shifting it, Derge may shift his position in time-space a short distance from his current location in an instant. Normally his distance is maxed in an area he could cover in five foot steps. Hard to control without concentration. Using this ability too much takes a heavy toll on his reserves. Replicates very basic teleportation, except functions differently/uniquely
-Conjure: Derge is able to physically transmit his energy through his body into a tangible form. This energy is hard to manipulate once expelled; is usually released in a straight beam or a power orb. The energy moves fast and hits hard, though has no elemental or temperature properties, due to it being a visible representation of pure force. The energy usually takes the form of a soft white/blue light which faintly glows. Using this ability in any case easily has the potential to drain his stamina/mana in alarming rates, depending on how much power and existing surface area of the energy he releases.
Character Weapons:
-Chain Sickle: If one were to go for the pun, you'd imagine an icy chain, possibly delicious or fruity tasting, right? Well not quite. This weapon is a basic Sickle, which is a half-crescent blade (like a scythe) except with a small more manageable handle, with the middle of the handle being broken in two with a three-foot chain connecting them. The handle of the sickle on both ends is an ornate ivory with teal X-crossed stripes wrapping around the middles of the handles, the ends of the handles being gold ovals slightly bigger than the handles themselves. The chain is a dark teal. The blade is a lustrous silver, the cutting-edge of the blade is decorated in a teal shark-took pattern, with a large red demonic eye with a slender black pupil at the wide base of the blade.
Derge was always fascinated with peculiar and unusual weapons, and when he found a basic version of the one he has now, he began practicing with it to see how it worked. With his Concentration ability, his use of the weapon was almost flawless; his ablility to whip the chain so that the blade swung elegantly around him at his targets with a clean, sometimes destructive slash. He could also use the sickle non-lethally by manipulating it backwards so the back of the handle of the blade is the impact point instead, or just plainly holding the handle where the blade is and swing around the actual handle on the end of the chain.
He purchased the one he has now when the shop-owner of his home town, knowing of his fascination with the weapon, found it from a traveling blacksmith for a reasonable price and came to Derge with the offer. Paying all the munny he had worked hard to earn in order to get his own weapon, he got the chain sickle with a custom sheath included. Derge could not have been happier.

Character Story
Character Home World: Radiant Garden
Character Relationships: Derge never really had friends, but he considered the people who knew a face to a name (no matter how close the actual relationship) 'acquaintances'. He loved both his mother, who had silver eyes and a very caring nature and his father who was an incredible role model. His mother once took a wrong turn while finding her way around, getting attacked and injured by heartless. She got away and survived, but from there Derge promised himself he'd be the best he can be to protect others from the heartless; even if just to defend his family.
Character History:
Derge has not been alive for very long, though he's put himself through quite a lot. From when he was born, he was very different because of his size and because of the intense energy potential that one could actually feel from being close to him. His parents tried their best to raise him the same like a normal child, though planned on relaying the truth that he was different; eventually. The debate was, when and how.
He grew up like a normal child, with the exception that his parents noticed he could make decisions and perform in his environment several times above his level. That was him using a primitive Concentrate. He still only held the amount of knowledge that was appropriate for his age, it was just his ability to think that was above average, only seeming to be some of the time as well.
His parents finally decided that by age ten, when he already been perfectly capable of functioning on his own (with support at times) and having a decent background of knowledge, they would convey the truth. After which, Derge became incredibly curious and all he could proceed to think about was how he was different. Now conscious of the fact, he felt pretty strong and even powerful at times, if he hasn't thought too hard that day.
Not before long, Derge learned of heartless and the negative balance of life. He thought he could be different to maybe eradicate this negativity but those were childish delusions of grandeur, formulated on his primitive sense of existence. Once he grew older and began to understand things more, he realized he could merely just protect himself and those around him. He began training, though not intensely because he never saw an advantage to overdoing it.
It was when he was thirteen that his mother was attacked, and Derge had not taken into actually fighting quite seriously yet, merely training for a sense of accomplishment and more or less nothing better to do. It still wouldn't be a while though before he found a much better way to fight than with his tough hands.
Derge discovered weapons, ultimately weapons of high varieties, always attracted to the one the appeared least commonly. He tried many different things from kunai knives, bladed paper fans and a strange curved bo-staff, though once he found his first chain sickle, he fell in metaphorical love. He was absolutely drowned in how well he could perform with it, how cool it looked and how unique it really was. He had never seen anything like it.
Only when Derge was sixteen he accidently learned about Phasing and Conjuring through using his imagination while training; trying to perform maneuvers in a play-battle, then ultimately surprised when his energy was actually channeled to do so. His discovered powers drain mana and stamina fairly quickly, but are incredibly effective when used right. He feels he has a lot of potential to discover new uses of his current abilities and maybe find new ones altogether, but he tries to focus on what he already knows. Messing something up in battle would be the worst possible way to mess up his Concentration, with it being hard to get back into his groove with his failure enveloping his mind.
Present-day, he solicits himself as a guard of Radiant Garden, saving up various deposits of munny through odd jobs using his talents for both productive/constructive tasks and combative tasks. He makes enough to rent his own apartment in the small residential area.

Sample Post (Required for first time character creators only - provide us with a fresh sample of your roleplay skills; we prefer new works written by yourself especially for this purpose – proper grammar & punctuation is required - a minimum of 10 sentences is required):
There wasn't anything unusual about the day going on, but Derge Kyelgamin definitely felt unusual. He had woken up, eaten breakfast pretty fast for his normal pace and seemed a little twitchy about training that morning. Neither of his parents were up yet, since they didn't like to get up early on the weekends though Derge loved taking the early morning to tone up and practice. Every morning.
He was also perfectly aware of feeling strange; there was just something not right. He didn't exactly feel 'pumped', just a little on the edge. His instinct told him to go to the edge of town, just on the border where heartless usually like to show up. Unless someone was right nearby the border, the heartless never typically entered, as saying they never entered was simply kidding oneself. Derge went there, pacing back and forth.
Almost nothing was to be seen, not even a few Yellow Operas or Shadows scrawling around, looking for something to do. "There... There can't just be no reason. Not... No there definitely has--" Derge spoke aloud to himself before he cut off when he thought he heard something, stopping right in place and looking off to the side. Now, this wasn't the side the heartless usually were on; this was the side facing the town.
It seemed a couple Sergeants appeared; ready to ransack the place for a good ol' time. Not on Derge's watch. He frowned, now about to freak out from being on the edge so long, just now getting into combat. "Hey, Hey YOU! ALL OF YOU!" Derge yelled. The Sergeants, a total of four, stopped in place and turned to look at what was addressing them. Derge reached into the sheath with his left hand, pulled out an ornate ivory handle and whipped it around himself, clockwise, undoing the chain. He caught it with his right hand, flicking it up and then down, catching the handle of the other end of the weapon - the one directly attached to the sickle blade at the other end of the chain.
"I don't think it's in your place to be here!" He yelled, dashing forward at a decent speed. He began concentrating on the Sergeant to the left, calculating that a slash starting there would have the best probability to wind up into two more simultaneously with the third barely dodging. The sergeants, unfortunately for his calculation simply scattered with the hope of surrounding him - ultimately, not a very good idea against a weapon like Derge's.
The sergeant on the left, the one of Derge's focus, happened to shift immediately forward to brush past him while two others feigned being more suitable targets, remaining in front. Derge quickly slashed with the sickle blade in his left hand, throwing the chain around and spinning with it, slashing it again. Derge then flicked his wrist down and brought his arm over his head, swinging the sickle blade up and around, slashing the unlucky Sergeant a third time.
Derge then rushed forward, grabbing the handle of the sickle again and slashing manually three times, defeating the monster. This ended his concentration without having a monster to focus on. He quickly cleared his mind, and assessed the situation. Two Sergeants toward his right but in front of him, one to the right and behind him. He began concentrating on that one.
Deciding the best course of action, Derge decided to confuse them just a little bit, as the ones in front were going in for an attack while the one behind seemed to be waiting to ambush him. He phased a foot behind the Sergeant that was originally positioned behind him, and let his chain loose; delivering a series of furious slashes. It took four carefully manipulated and powerful swings to slay this foe, while the two others located his new position.
Now his concentration was broken again, though Derge didn't mind. He simply shifted to his next two targets, deciding on a combo of swings involving him spinning and taking steps forward with each full rotation. With the chain and blade of his sickle free to move, the spins turned into wide horizontal slashes; each time he took a step, he would spin just a little faster. This motion caused the blade to move faster and with more force with each step. By the third step, the two Sergeants were in range.
They wanted to get away by splitting left and right to avoid being in the direct path of the terrifying attack, though on his fourth step, he took a much larger step to ensure the blade's impact. It sliced through both once, twice, three, four, and then five times before the heartless were vaporized, allowing Derge to cease spinning and let the chain wrap around his waist once, catching the handle of the sickle perfectly with his left free hand, sheathing it directly below where he caught it. He brought his right hand which held the base handle to the sheath and slid it into the back. He took a deep breath.
"A little more excitement than I hoped for..." He said aloud to himself again, his voice trailing. While feeling a little exhausted from having to concentrate, the edge in his demeanor had disappeared and his nervous touch dissipated. He didn't immediately notice but would be glad when he did. Job well done, Derge would think to himself. Maybe that would suppress heartless trickery for a little while longer.
{erhm, sorry if it seems I got carried away! I could've just cliffhanger'd it, seeing as only the first three paragraphs would suffice? REGARDLESS! This was fun to write so I wanted to keep going until I felt satisfied XD Hopefully is was just as fun for you to read D:}
