Rowen might have had an annoying personality, but he did seem to have his uses. The way they moved their party from one spot to the other was simply amazing. For as much as Red found the man annoying, he couldn't help but be impressed by him. Perhaps he had over judged the man. Making a sudden decision, Red vowed he would give Rowen a further look. He seemed like a good guy despite his inappropriate moments.
Landing in the courtyard, Red too noticed the state of things. Spotting the bodies, Red agreed with Sain. This was no battle. This was a slaughter. The guards didn't have the chance. Following Jean, Red drew his weapon. He didn't want to be caught off guard and having to hassle with his weapon at the same time. Better to walk with it at his side.
As they came to the group of bodies by the entrance to the Emperor's castle, Red noticed that the men had put up some sort of fight. It seemed that whatever they faced though was to hard for them to kill. "What happened to Kira?" Red couldn't help but wonder aloud.
Hearing a scream from inside the open doors of the castle, Red rushed in. Sprinting inside Red didn't take the time to look at the different statues or other decorations on the wall. Upon entering Red faced a staircase that clouded his vision of anything further inside. Taking the steps two at a time, Red reached the top and came to a stop. There were about ten soldiers laying in front of the large throne room.
In the middle of the room stood a heartless. It was hard to tell what exactly it was, but it looked sort of humanoid. Its claws dripped red from blood and it had talons for feet and spikes rolling down its back. It faced an elderly looking man in gold robes with a training staff in his hand. Where was Captain Kira?
Red didn't have time to just sit around. He acted, slashing his blade through the air. Three flickers of fire rushed down the blade and took the form of a burning human. They rushed through the air before they came in contact with the heartless. Upon contact the heartless spun around.
Seeing its face Red could tell that it was indeed human like. But it had the eyes of a heartless and its mouth and features were twisted. Red had his blade positioned at the ready. He was ready for the heartless to attack. He had no idea that the heartless they faced was in reality Captain Kira.
"I don't know where Captain Kira is, but we better get rid of this heartless first." Red said to Jean and the rest of their party. The heartless leaped through the air but it did not aim for Jean or anyone else. It aimed solely for Red. Not knowing what else to do Red attacked back, blade cutting through the air at an upward angle.
His blade met the heartless before the heartless's claws sank into its body. His weapon forced the opponent into the air leaving it open from attacks from just about anyone.

It was true that Rowen made himself somewhat annoying but he couldn't help it. He did it to have fun. Being serious all the time was boring to him. It was why Sain and he often argued a lot. After having just moved them from one spot to the next, Rowen was in pretty good spirits. Right now, he hadn't done any flirting with Jean the entire time. It were as if he knew when to be serious.
Dyne scrunched up his nose at the sight of the dead bodies before they headed up to the emperor's palace. Here, there was an obvious sign of fighting but it looked like it didn't last very long. "What are we dealing with?" Rowen voiced the question aloud as he examined one of the bodies. It looked like they had been clawed to death or something. Taking out an armored bow and arrow, Rowen headed into the palace after Red.
Jean spoke to Red before they all headed in. "I don't know, Red. I don't know."
There had been a scream that had made them hurry in with haste. Sain, Jean and Ryu had out their swords. Dyne held his sword staff with caution as he looked at what they were facing. Some sort of Heartless was menacing some figure with a staff.
"Right!" Jean stated when Red said that they needed to do something about the Heartless first. When it turned to Red and only seemed to focus on him, Jean could only wonder. It wasn't like she could recognize the figure though. She had no idea that it was a piece of Captain Kira that they were facing, his Heartless.
Red had narrowly blocked it from slashing him. Retaliating, Jean took a swing at its upper shoulder region. Rowen, from behind Jean, had taken aim with an arrow and fired. Ryu, Sain and Dyne were out of range at the moment and kept out of the way of the previous two that had already attempted attacks on the Heartless.

Attacks from Jean and Rowen made fighting the heartless a bit easier. The swing at its upper shoulder region caused the creature to come back down, but not before an arrow penetrated its chest. Taking the attacks as an opportunity, Red swung his blade again and again slashing at the heartless.
So busy was Red in his fighting that he did not notice that the heartless was not attack them. In fact it simply took hit after hit. Were Red to focus hard enough he would have seen a tear in the heartless's eyes. However Red was to busy trying to finish up the opponent. After two consecutive strikes, he swung his blade over his head and slashed down the creatures torso. The blow finished the opponent as it fell to the floor.
Breathing in and out, Red lowered his blade. "The heartless must not have been what had killed those people out there." The heartless... despite its grotesque appearance... was very easily killed. Watching the heartless start to disappear a red heart suddenly appeared out of it. It was good to know that Red had freed that heart for it to join wherever it was all hearts went.
Gazing over to where the heartless once was, Red's sword suddenly dropped to the floor. Where the darkness once was, now was Captain Kira. Filled with confusion Red didn't know what to think. It was quite clear that Captain Kira was dead. His expression was blank and Red noticed tears down the man's face.
Kira's body had an arrow in its chest, and slash marks across the body from a sword. Hands trembling Red's expression of confusion turned to horror. Those were his slash marks from his sword. "How.... When...." Red mumbled the words to no one in particular.
"Such destruction...." Said a figure who leaned against the far wall in the shadows. He had gone unnoticed until he had suddenly spoken. He wore a cloak that covered his entire figure with the hood pulled over his head.

Something strange happened when Rowen and Jean had made their attacks. Instead of retaliating, the creature just took the blows. Confused, Jean watched as Red finished it up. Why hadn't the Heartless fought back? It made no sense to her from the experience she had with previous Heartless. Rowen was just as puzzled. He had strung another arrow and taken aim but held on to the arrow. Something was staying his hand. Why, he didn't know. Was it...pity? Something definitely wasn't right here.
When Red finished the creature, a nasty surprise awaited them once the heart had been freed of the Heartless. Jean's and Rowen's eyes widened in realization when their eyes fell upon the figure that was once Captain Kira. The man they had come to help, inadvertently they had killed off. Red had been the one to make the final blow.
"O-Oh my-!" Jean couldn't find the words as she dropped a sword in her shock at what they had done. Rowen lowered his weapon and just gaped at what he had done. He was just as much at fault as Jean and Red were. He couldn't believe that he had just helped kill Kira.
It didn't take long before someone arrived on the scene in the form of a voice. All turned to face the figure. There, they found a man clad in a cloak with a hood draping over his face. Dyne furrowed his eyebrows as he peered at the figure questioningly, his hand clutching the sword staff carefully. He didn't like the looks of the figure even though he just met him.
"Who are you?" demanded Ryu. Rowen was too busy being shocked at what he did as he looked down at his own weapon. He had helped take a life that wasn't inherently evil. His heart beat almost seemed to have stopped in his shock. Jean didn't seem at all with it either as she looked at the figure that spoke. Who was he was a very good question. Right now though, she was in no condition to ask it since she was still trying to get over the shock of what she helped do.

"Names... are not important." The figure said as he slowly walked around them. He walked as if he had all the time in the world. There was complete confidence in his walk. He had no weapon in sight, but that did not mean the man wasn't dangerous. Everything about the man reeked danger.
Red however noticed almost none of this. In fact he barley registered what was happening. His eyes were only on Captain Kira. The man he had killed with his own hands. Red had never before taken the life of the innocent. He had murdered an innocent man. No wonder Kira didn't fight back.
The figure continued its walk until he came to a stop before Captain Kira's cut up body. Bending down a black gloved hand ran over Captain Kira's face. He shut the man's lids as he did. "Such a helpless being... he only wanted revenge for what was done to him. Poor, poor man."
Red's eyes slowly rose from the body to the stranger. His eyes were filled with uncontrollable tears. "I..... I .... I .... I didn't know." Red could barley get the words out. He was still in shock. The feelings inside him swirled like butterflies all at once. He was numb.
"Find rest my friend.... you were taken to early in your time." Slowly rising, the figure's gaze turned to Red. "You are responsible for this man's death! I had provided him with the means for him to seek his revenge. You killed him!" The words were like a knife in Red's heart.

Ryu exchanged looks with Sain as the figure answered their question with names being unimportant. Clearly, this man was dangerous or had something to hide. Having dealt with people like him before, Ryu and Sain knew that he wasn't the type that could be handled easily. Already, they were picking up unpleasant vibes as the figure spoke to them. Caution was the only thing that held them back for now.
Jean watched as the figure walked up to Captain Kira's body after walking around the group. Glancing over at Sain, she noticed how there appeared to be a gleam of recognition in his eyes. He had seen the figure before. Was this the one that made Kira embrace the darkness?
Rowen watched as the figure bent over Captain Kira's lifeless body and closed the man's eyelids claiming how he had only wanted revenge. Jean stood there as Red started speaking, still in shock at what he had just done. That he didn't know that the Heartless had been Captain Kira. She agreed with him silently. She had no idea that it was him either.
It didn't take long before the figure turned his attention on Red claiming how it was he who had killed Captain Kira. "Now hold on just a second! He didn't do it on purpose! It was an accident!" Rowen growled. He too was just as much at fault, he wasn't going to let Red take all the blame for it. Granted, he wasn't happy about what he had done but he wasn't about to let this guy throw all the blame on Red either.
"Rowen and I are just as much at fault as he is...and hearing what you said, you're worse than we are making him embrace the darkness!" retorted Jean. She knew that they had been at fault for killing Captain Kira but it wasn't on purpose that they did it. They hadn't a clue that he had become a Heartless. It was only a terrible thing that fate brought upon them.

The figure turned to Rowen and Jean. He didn't say anything at first. He could not deny that this had been an accident. Not that it did much for Red. It really didn't matter if it was an accident or not. He had been the one who had killed Captain Kira. Regardless of the situation a man was now dead. An innocent man. And the person to blame was Red.
When Jean spoke up, the words were barley recognizable to Red. He had slowly moved over to Captain Kira's body and was now touching the spots where his blade had sliced into Kira. These marks were his doing. His sword had killed him. The figure though did respond to Jean's retort.
"I did nothing of the sort. I only aided a man who was thirsty and was searching for a well. I knew the path that would take him straight to that well. I did not drag him nor force him to that well. He followed. You are the ones who killed him... not I!"
The figure stretched out his hand and pointed to Kira's body. "Those sword marks are what did him in. Look at all of them! A single arrow did not kill him. Nor a blow to the shoulder. It was his doing!"
Red knew what the figure was saying was true. It was his fault that Kira was dead. He had done the final blow. If he could have taken it back, he would have. "I... I am sorry he is dead." Red said finally rising. Tears still fell from his face. "But if what Jean says is true... He had submitted himself to darkness." Briefly turning to Jean, Red asked her, "Doesn't one have to loose their heart to become a heartless? Wouldn't that mean that he was already dead?"

Rowen and Jean just glared at the man as he spoke. Even if he claimed what he did was merely give Kira the notion to embrace the darkness, he was still the reason why Kira ended up the way he did. It was because of this man that Kira ended up a Heartless. It was because that he had become a Heartless that they were unable to recognize him.
"That still puts you at fault because you're the reason why we couldn't recognize him in the first place!" Jean replied. Rowen nodded in response to what Jean just said. He couldn't have said it any better himself.
"We still attacked him, we're still just as at fault!" retorted Rowen next. He didn't want Red to feel like the blame was all just on him. It would surely affect Red to hear it was all his fault. He wasn't going to budge on the fact that he and Jean had helped attack Kira. If they hadn't attacked him, he might've not gotten hit by Red so easily. Then again, he hadn't attacked back really. If anything, he had focused on Red and had simply been retaliating a little to the burn he had gotten.
Captain Kira's fate had been a tragic one. Jean already felt a sinking feeling in her stomach just thinking about it. The poor man was murdered now. A Heartless was a part of a living being. They embraced the darkness and lost their heart. After seeing what happened, it looked like they killed that part of Captain Kira. Not knowing all that much about the Heartless, she didn't know if there was a way to save Kira after that now.
When Red spoke to her, she turned to look over at him. "A Heartless is a piece of the whole. What happened was Kira embraced the darkness so it took over his heart. You released it in killing the Heartless. Now, there is just one other piece of him out there, if he was lucky a Nobody. Otherwise...just his heart would be left." She hated to say it but it looked like now Kira was completely gone. Yet, for people like herself, her four friends, Annalese and Red there wasn't any way for them to have saved him. They weren't keyblade wielders.
"Only a keyblade warrior or master could have saved him in that state." It was Annalese whom had finally spoken up. Looking over at the hooded figure with a scrunched up nose, it was obvious she didn't like the smell coming off him. The darkness made him smell horrible to her.
"I don't like you!" she stated simply to the hooded figure. The vibes she was picking up from him weren't at all pleasant. That and she wondered aside from the dark stench if he was old, much older than the normal compared to her human friends. Well, if you could call them friends. Annalese still didn't exactly feel like a part of the group.

Red listened to Jean's explanation. So there might be a chance that part of Kira was still alive. That chance might be small but it was enough for hope. That was all Red had left. It was true they had killed the heartless. But perhaps Kira was not fully dead then. Hearing Annalese suddenly speak up was surprising. Usually the vampire was to busy in her own world to comment on anything at all. Hearing the word keyblade sent a lump down Red's throat. There was that word again. Why did it keep coming up? There just wasn't enough information about it. Feeling a bit bare without a weapon Red reached down and picked up his blade. "Your the reason Kira is dead. His death might be my hands, but you lead him to his death." Red was slowly getting his confidence back. He was still upset about killing Kira, but right now they had more pressing matters. Eyes turning on the figure, Red was thrown for another loop when the figure suddenly brought his hands together as he applauded them. It was a strange thing to heard, and it made Red confused. "Wonderful response. Wonderful. You are correct of course. But that doesn't change the fact that by your sword you have killed an innocent man."The figure turned to Annalese. " No one asked you to talk Pure Blood. You are nothing but a creature born without a heart. You're no better then the heartless." Red's expression turned to a frown. Before Annalese might respond, Red spoke up. "Leave her alone. She's my friend. That's all that matters. Why are you here? Who the hell are you?"The figure stretched out his hand and a red and black keyblade formed in his grasp. "Don't you know Red?" Upon seeing that keyblade Red was filled with emotion. He did recognize that keyblade. It was the same one he had seen night after night in his nightmares. It was the same keyblade he watched behead the woman who had been his mother. Rage and pure hatred filled Red's thoughts. He did not think he acted. He charged weapon at the ready, towards the person who had destroyed his life. As he swung his weapon he was surprised to see that the Cursed blade he held was gone. What clashed against the opponents weapon was a red and black weapon with a large heart shaped hilt and a group of spikes coming from the side stretching out forming a key shaped. Red's cursed blade had turned into a keyblade.

It was probably a slight chance that a part of Kira was still alive out there somewhere. The sad thing was though, the man was lost to them since neither of them had a keyblade. It really bothered her to know there wasn't anything else she could do. Looking over at Rowen, she could tell that he felt the same way. Seeing him serious other than being the annoying flirt that he was, was surprising sometimes.
Focusing back on the hooded figure, she furrowed her eyebrows as he clapped at what they had just said. Rowen made to advance toward the hooded figure but Jean had stopped him before he could take more than a couple of steps by setting a hand on his shoulder. Her grip had been firm and held steady. Shaking her head, Jean made Rowen reluctantly back off for now. There was no telling what this hooded figure was like anyway. The last thing she needed was for one of her friends to end up dead.
It had been a surprise to hear Annalese's voice. Usually, the girl wasn't paying any attention when around the others. However, at that moment, it looked like she did bother to listen to what was being said. Judging by what she said, it was quite obvious that she didn't like the hooded figure before her.
Annalese was quite surprised by the hooded figure's response to her. Somehow, he knew what she was. Before she could react though, as her eyes narrowed dangerously, Red had done the unexpected. He had stood up for her. Never in a million years did she think she'd ever find someone who would actually stick up for her like that. He even went as far as calling her a friend! 'A...friend?!' she wondered. It really caught her off guard.
It didn't take long before Red started demanding who the guy was and why this had to happen. Jean had wondered the same thing. When the hooded figure revealed a keyblade, Jean thought her heart would've stopped then. Fighting a keyblade wielder wouldn't be easy. It didn't even cross her mind that they could potentially be facing even a master right now.
Then, the unexpected happened...again. Red lunged for the keyblade wielder. Scared for Red, Jean made to stop him but Red was too fast for her reaction time. "Red!" she exclaimed. It was Rowen's turn to hold her back to keep her from interfering then lest she end up wounded in the process. Like her, he too was worried for Red's sake but something strange had happened. Instead of that blade they saw Red use, he was now holding up a similar weapon!
"Whoa! Red's got a keyblade!" came Ryu's voice from the other side of the room. Dyne looked dumbfounded where Sain looked impressed.
All four held back though, Rowen having to lift Jean up and prop her over his shoulder to keep her from running over. Rowen understood that this was Red's fight. Where Jean wasn't too happy with what he did, she was kicking futilely and beating her fists on his armored back, Rowen just smirked at Red as if nothing were wrong. "Give him your best shot. Red! Teach him not to mess with you."
Annalese watched with some worry. For once, her attention was focused on the fight at hand. If worse came to worse, she might have to resort to measures she'd rather avoid if it meant saving a friend's life. Hopefully, it wouldn't have to come to that.
"ROWEN! PUT ME DOWN!" Jean snarled. Rowen, watching the fight, simply ignored Jean's protests.

Red really didn't have the time to marvel at the weapon in his hand. Not when his opponent was leaning against his weapon. For as strong as Red was, his strength did not match this hooded figure. It was quite clear by the way, Red's weapon was being pushed back by the enemy. When it was clear that he was going to loose this temporary test of strengths, Red jumped backwards. Not a moment too soon either, for the enemy's keyblade came slicing where Red had been just a moment ago.
"Wonderful! Wonderful! Is that all the strength you have? You wield a keyblade now and it doesn't make any bit of difference." It was quite clear that the hooded figure was baiting Red into attacking. Well he succeeded. Red rushed in again to attack.
He swung at the figure's side, each attack was easily blocked but Red kept them coming. His rage continued to drive him. This was the man who was responsible for everything. He was not going to stop until he was dead. This man deserved a long, agonizing, painful death. Red wanted him to pay.
The figure laughed gleefully at Red's frustration. "SHUT UP!!!" He screamed. With each swing he struck harder and harder.
"Embrace it! Embrace your anger!" Red couldn't help it. With all that had happened his emotions were a storm inside him. First Kira's death. Then the reveal of who this strange really was. It was just to much. He embraced his anger. He was letting it drive him.
Suddenly things happened very quickly. The blade that was at first a blade of light burst forth darkness from Red's emotional state. The darkness surrounded him like cloud, darkening the room. Not really understanding what he was doing exactly, Red simply let instinct rule him. He swung his blade in a forward slashing motion. What resulted was a black horizontal wave rushing through the air towards he opponent.
The wave was taller then the room they were in but was only one foot wide. The wave cut through the cealing above as it sailed along the ground towards the hooded figure. The last thing Red saw was the hooded figure drop into the shadows. The wave continued on until it sliced through the back wall. Red then dropped to the floor blacking out.

Rowen continued to hang on to Jean, ignoring her angry words. Every time she tried to tilt back to try and get her weight on the opposite side so he'd have to put her down, he kept pushing her back over his shoulder with ease whenever she started to move. It infuriated her to no end but she couldn't do anything. Every attempt she made, she just wasn't going to be able to get off that shoulder of his. Rowen was very persistent in keeping her on that shoulder. When she tried slipping forward, he just hung on to her all the tighter.
"DAMN IT, ROWEN!" she shouted, resorting to nothing else but beating her fists on his armored back. She knew it was all in vain. Out of anger though, she couldn't help herself. Since she was stuck in this position, she couldn't see Red since her rear was facing the direction of the combatants.
Rowen just smirked to himself. He knew he was making her mad but he wasn't about to let her go and interfere either. Red wasn't in the right state of mind right now. He could accidentally do her harm if she were to try and get involved. Rowen knew she was afraid for the kid, he was too, but he wasn't going to let her interfere probably causing Red and herself injury. Seeing the keyblade, he grew a bit more confident in the kid. "C'mon Red! You can do it!" he shouted when he noticed Red's strength seemed to waver against the other keyblade wielder's.
As Annalese watched the fight carefully, she couldn't help but notice the smell of exposed bone suddenly go away. Blinking, she sniffed the air carefully. It was hard with all the darkness but exposed bone wasn't hard to smell. 'Where did the smell go?' she wondered.
Then, the stench of darkness increased. It made Annalese cough and splutter because her sense of smell was much more keen than a human's. Her reaction was only because of the sudden increase and not because darkness affected her like this. Where she was mostly a creature of darkness, there was light in her. She did have a heart otherwise how would a 'stake to the heart' have enough affect to kill a vampire?
Sain furrowed his eyebrows as the figure began to taunt Red, provoking the teenager's anger. "Don't-!" Sain never got to finish the sentence since Red obviously fell for the bait. Without further to do, the keyblade Red had changed form. Instead of being a weapon of what looked to be light, it became darker. Red was using darkness to battle the foe!
"This is not good!" stated Ryu. Dyne face palmed hearing that. Of course the situation wasn't good! Anyone could see that!
"Thank you, captain obvious!" Sain retorted. They didn't have time to bicker amongst themselves since Red sent up a wave of darkness at the hooded figure. Since the guy fell into a shadow, he evaded the attack and now it was headed in their direction! Reacting quickly, Sain rolled off to the far left where Ryu and Dyne rolled off the other way. They had all just narrowly escaped getting hit.
When Red collapsed, it was Annalese that reached him first. She could smell the darkness in him. "Someone whose heart has more light needs to tend to him. He is unconscious but I don't know what state his heart is in."
Rowen finally let Jean down as they both hurried over, Ryu and the others catching up too as they bent over him. "Red!" Jean called as she knelt beside him and gently nudged him. While she attempted to wake him up, Ryu and Rowen stood guard over them while Sain and Dyne looked around carefully for any sign of that figure from before. Had he left them?

Red was knocked out cold. That much was fairly clear given the way he just laid there. Having used so much energy Red was lucky to be alive at all. Appearing in the courtyard that the party had landed on earlier, the hooded figure walked with the moving crowd.
Things had gone exactly as the figure had hoped they would. Everything that happened was part of a plan. Of course that sudden burst of dark energy was not what the figure had expected. Not that it mattered all that much. In fact, he considered it a good thing. It meant that Red's abilities were coming naturally to him.
Making his way out of the courtyard and into the city streets, he followed the rode until he came to a shady alley. Turning abruptly he walked down the alley until he came to a stop at a single back door. Stranding against the wall he waited.
It wasn't long before another figure dressed in a black robe turned down the alley. The figure came to a stop in front of him. The voice that spoke from underneath the pulled up hood was female. "Our assassin is being slow."
"Do not fret my friend. Things will all work out as they are supposed to. It has already been foretold after all."
The female let out a loud laugh. "I have trouble listening to anything written in any sort of book. Besides you said yourself that things foretold on paper are full of riddles."
The hooded figure simply shook his head. "Don't worry my friend. All will be as it should."
"Don't you trust out leader?" A third voice sounded in the alley. It belonged to another approaching figure. Unlike the last two this man's voice was deep and masculine.
"Of course I do. I would never second guess his words." Responded the female.
"Welcome friend. Tell me. How is our book worm."
Even though one could not see inside the hoods, both the female and Issac could tell that the newcomer was smiling. "She has just arrived. Are you sure I can't just kill her?"
The leader shook his head. "You will have your chance in time. Come... Let us return to the castle. This world bores me." With that all three figures dropped into the shadows.

Seeing Red not waking up, Jean attempted to lift him up by herself. She was strong enough to support his weight alone. "No use staying here. Let's go back." With that said, Jean walked up to Rowen, holding Red up as she did so. There was some minor struggling to keep him upward but not much. Jean was pretty strong for her size.
Rowen nodded as the others gathered around him. Once everyone was around him, he set a transparent sphere about them all. Once everyone was in, he sent the sphere shooting back toward where they had been last.
Landing back at the temple, Rowen released his control of the sphere making it dissipate. When it was gone, Jean headed down the long hallway to Red's room. 'I hope he's going to be okay!' she thought worriedly. Through the time she had spent with Red, Jean found herself worrying about the kid's sake. Heading into his room, she settled him onto the bed. She wasn't the only one that made her way into the room. Almost jumping out of her skin, she found Dyne there helping put Red's other half of his body onto the bed for her to help her out a bit.
Once they were done, Jean pulled the blanket over Red to keep him warm. "You'd better wake up some time." With that, she and Dyne left the room. While Red rested, they would all wait.

Red didn't wake up till the morning. Waking up was... interesting to say the least. Upon opening his eyes he wondered where he was. This wasn't his bed. As a matter of fact this place looked nothing like his room. Where was the pile of books.. the posters.... Big Mama's....
It all came back to him then. That's right, he wasn't a kid anymore. He was practically an adult now. He was in a world he didn't know much about with people he knew for no more then a couple of weeks at the most. His best friend was no longer his best friend. His mother was dead. And he had killed....
Red slammed his arm down on the bed in anger. Upon doing so his eyes widened in surprise. His left arm was no longer a skeleton. It was back to its regular shape and size with skin and all. Moving his arm he was surprised to find that the blanket he had rested on was not decaying. His arm was normal again.
"At least some good has come out of this."[/i] He thought to himself. Standing up, Red searched for his cursed blade. Oh... that's right. Stretching out his arm, a keyblade appeared in his grasp. It was odd holding it. He had no idea how to use it, or even how to.
The blade was similar to the cursed blade in shape and even appearance in some ways. But the heart shaped hilt and half hear spikes coming out were different. Swinging his arm to the left and to the right, he tried to get a feel for the blade. It just wasn't the same. This weapon was different. It would take time for him to get used to it.
Letting go of the weapon it disappeared into the air. The keyblade was a strange weapon, indeed. Figuring it was time he rejoined with the others, he made his way out of the room. Walking down the hallway he was surprised to find Jean and Sain sitting on carpets, a cup of tea in their hands. They looked worn and tired.
Guilt overcame Red. He hoped they weren't this way because of him. Slowly making his way over he stood before the two. "I'm sorry."

Jean had been up most of the night. Out of everyone, only Sain managed to stay up as long as she did. In attempts to help keep the two of them awake, he had gotten them some tea. The others weren't anywhere to be seen but they had tried to stay up all night. After having dozed off on the floor, Dyne and Rowen decided they couldn't handle it anymore and went to their rooms. Ryu had wandered off soon after them.
"Funny how it's just us awake now." Sain managed a half smile in response. He was too tired to say much of anything else. Like her, he was worn out from staying up so late. He knew that if the others had gone to sleep, it would be up to him to make sure everything was fine in their absence. It had been he whom had made them go to bed.
Hearing movement, Jean tiredly looked over as Red approached them. Seeing him awake and looking well, she was relieved. As he apologized, she just shook her head before setting the tea down and getting up. Tiredly, she wrapped her arms about him and hugged him tightly. "You had me worried...but don't worry about it."
Sain stretched, setting his empty tea cup down too and standing up. "Good to see you're awake, Red. We were all wondering how you were doing. Feel okay?" Sain questioned him curiously. His voice sounded hoarse when he spoke. It was a sign of just how worn out he was.

Red didn't expect the hug. He sure as hell didn't deserve it. Not after what he did to Kira. A man was dead because of him. After she let him go, he tried his best to smile. Turning to Sain he answered his question.
"I'm alright now. Thanks for worrying about me, but I'll be alright. You guys look exhausted why don't you go get some sleep. I'll be fine here."
After that, Red simply took a seat down on the floor. He did not look at Jean or Sain. His eyes seemed to gaze at the wall. He didn't think, he didn't move, he just stared.
Eventually his mind started thinking about what had happened. He had killed an innocent man. His rush into battle had ended the life of a man. If only he had stopped when the heartless had refused to attack them.
Now that he thought about it, why hadn't he been able to read Kira's thoughts. For as long as he could remember the thoughts of heartless penetrated his skull no matter what he did. Why hadn't he been able to read Kira's thoughts.
It really didn't matter anymore though. What did it really matter now? He was dead. Red tried to keep his tears in. He didn't deserve to cry. That was for people who deserved to feel. He didn't deserve to feel anything.
Red didn't know how long he sat there. It could have been a few minutes or a few hours. Finally though he moved. He stood from his sitting position and walked to the kitchen where they had eaten before. He took a seat at the table.
He didn't deserve to have his arm back. He didn't deserve a keyblade. He didn't deserve Jean or Annalease or any of these people he cared about. What if he got Jean killed? Just thinking about causing the death of another person made Red shake with grief.
It took a little bit of time before he managed to get control of his emotions. He was back to being numb once again. Perhaps it was better to be numb then to feel the shame and sorrow of having murdered someone before their time. The sound of footsteps from someone entering the kitchen made him clear his mind though.

Jean didn't pay any mind to the fact that Red had murdered Captain Kira. It wasn't like he did it on purpose. She too felt guilt for what happened. Red wasn't the only one who took the blame. Jean and Rowen still felt horrible for what they helped do. Right now, she was busy being relieved that Red was safe and sound. Yet, as she embraced him, something felt off. Looking at him, she noticed the arm had changed.
"Red, your arm!" she exclaimed. Sain looked at it too. He had noticed something had been off about it the days before, he hadn't seen that it had been skeletal. Thus, why he gave Jean a confused look.
"Glad you're alright...and if you insist, we will. I'll see you later, Red." With that, Sain headed off for sleep. Jean lingered a moment.
"Are you sure you'll be alright?" she inquired. Seeing that he was just staring at the wall, she guessed he wanted to be alone for now. Turning away after he gave her an answer or not, Jean added "You take care. I'll see you in a bit." With that, she headed down the hall and into the room she shared with Annalese. Sleep took her rather quickly the moment she hit the bed.
-------------------------------------------
The footsteps that Red heard were none other than Ryu. He had the tendency to wake up much sooner than the others. As he entered the kitchen, he settled his bright blue eyes upon Red. Heading toward the cupboards to start getting breakfast out, he looked back over at Red. "Good morning, Red!" he greeted with his usual smile.
Getting out food, Red might've noticed Ryu not turning on the oven and simply picking a bowl or pan up that he had set food into. His hands, unlike normal ones, seemed to glow like embers as he used his fire powers to cook the food almost instantly. Before a matter of five minutes, he was completely finished. Knowing Jean and Sain might've went off to bed really late, he only provided enough food for those that would wake up.
Setting food in front of Red, Ryu sat at the counter. "Feeling okay?"

Perking up at the entrance of Ryu, Red did his best to give the man a smile. There was no reason for anyone to suffer with him. It was better to just play things as being alright. Who knows, maybe if Red pretended he was alright eventually he would be. For some reason Red doubted that such a thing would happen though.
"Good morning Ryu." He responded. Resting his arms on the table he gazed at his left hand. He watched his hand make a fist over and over again. It was so strange to have his arm and hand back again.
Glancing over at Ryu, Red's eyes peeked when he watched Ryu cook the food in his hands. "What an odd ability." He thought. No wonder Ryu knew how to cook so well. He could cook the food probably to mere perfection like that. Once the food was finished and Ryu placed the food on the table, Red took a hold of the fork next to the plate.
Twirling the fork in the food, Red found that he wasn't that hungry. He didn't feel like eating. Something like that was a privilege. He wasn't privileged. He didn't deserve anything. Ryu must have noticed Red's reluctance to eat because he asked about his state of being. Responding quickly he said, "I'm fine."
Taking some of the food onto the fork he forced it into his mouth. After chewing and swallowing it, he faked a smile towards Ryu to show him his appreciation. "I wonder when the others will be waking up?" The only reason he asked was because he wanted the attention off of himself. With more people, perhaps people wouldn't recognize that Red was truly miserable.

Ryu could tell that Red wasn't in a grand mood. He could understand why though. The kid had killed someone without really meaning to. Things like this could only take time to get over. That was why Ryu was careful to not pry about it, specifically. He knew the kid was troubled. That was why he just merely busied himself with getting breakfast made for those that would wake up. It was giving Red some peace and quiet for the time being. Ryu wasn't sure if Rowen and Sain would give him peace after yesterday.
Once breakfast was done, Ryu had settled himself before his own plate and bowl of food. Hearing Red's response, Ryu simply nodded slowly at it. He figured Red wouldn't want to mention anything just now. All they could do was wait and see. Red would probably tell them when he was ready, probably Jean more so than any of the others.
Hearing the sudden question, Ryu shrugged. "They usually wake up when the smell of food reaches them. They sleep longer than I do, sometimes to the late afternoon hours if I let them." Ryu chuckled when he said that. Yes, Dyne and Rowen were definitely late sleepers. The guys weren't at all morning people. The only way he could lure them out of bed was to provoke their sense of smell with food. Food was always good enough bribery to get them out of bed.
As if on cue, Dyne came wandering in. This time, his hair wasn't askew like it was the morning before. Seeing them there, Dyne took a short moment to realize Red was awake. Obviously glad the kid was alright, he had come right up to Red and gave him a pat on the back to show he was happy Red was fine now. Only after that did he go and start to eat.
The peace and quiet didn't last long though. Rowen wasn't at all happy looking and looked to have a very good reason for it. He was soaking wet. Seeing the questioning looks Dyne and Ryu were giving him, Rowen frowned with obvious annoyance. "That other kid decided it would be fun to dunk cold water over my head!" he grumbled. Dyne couldn't help but crack a smile and silently laugh at Rowen's situation. Ryu even had a hard time keeping on a straight face.
"It was that or let you sleep for forever!" stated Annalese with a shrug. "That and I was bored...playing a trick on you was entertainment enough!" she mused rather darkly. Rowen just glared back at her before wandering over to eat. "Ah, I see you've finally woken up." Annalese was speaking to Red when she said that, looking right at him to make that apparent as she did so. Rowen seemed to go quiet then when Annalese pointed it out. Probably, he too had an idea of what Red must've been feeling at the time.
