Character Basics
Character Name: Project Zeus (Matthias Surge)
Character Age: 16
Character Race: Enhanced Human
Character Gender: Male
About the Character
Character Personality:
Matthias is a little hyper. He is a quick thinker, fast fighter, and plans fast. Sometimes he rushes into things a little too much, but he always manages to find a way out just as fast. He is usually cheerful and friendly, a bit of a joker, and is usually trying to be cool.
Like the others in the project, he is rebellious at times and likes to do things his own way, for his own causes. His intelligence could blow you away, not in math or science but sheer strategy. He can throw together a brilliant plan in seconds, but he hardly ever takes the time to actually use this. Instead, he prefers a “rush in and surprise attack everyone” strategy.
He is quite singular, preferring to go solo or in a small group of people, especially the people he grew up with who were also enhanced. He would never be part of an army; he couldn’t stand having to be tied down with that big of a group.
He’s very loyal to his friends, to the point where he’d die rather than betray them. His mind is strong and he wouldn’t crack under torture. He sees through deception easily enough, when he takes the time to care. Overall, he can be irritating and impatient, but he’s a good friend and a great ally.
On a side note, Matthias is also going insane. The energy infused into him is messing with his mind, shooting off random neurons as his power grows. If he ever does get to full power, it would make him totally crazy. The change is gradual, but it's eating away at him, and he's afraid of it. He's worried he won't recognize his friends, or he won't remember Eleanor, most of all.
Character Appearance: Matthias stands at about six feet tall, so he’s tall but not imposingly so. His hair is a light blonde and is mid length, often ruffled about with plenty of spikes in a messy way; no one knows how it stays like that, as it’s soft and he doesn’t use gel. His eyes are electric blue and bright. He’s muscular from a rough childhood, and he has little fat on him, especially after he went through training. He’s light and slim, but packs a lot of strength on his frame. He often wears dark tee shirts and long khaki cargo pants when he’s allowed, but he usually had to wear tactical clothes during his training. He never had a fondness for jewelry, especially after the transformation when metal wasn’t a good thing to have on him. His training outfit consists of a black jumpsuit specially designed to conduct electricity, covered by black pants and a long-sleeved black shirt. He also wears black sock-like footwear that conduct electricity, provide traction, and protect his feet from being stepped on. The shirt has a blue emblem on the back that resembles a ball of swirling energy with lightning shooting out and arcing around it. The same emblem is on the back of his jumpsuit, and a smaller one is on the front left of his shirt.
Character Hobbies/Activities: Joking around, Parkour, street fighting.
Battle Statistics
Character Position: Hero
Character Abilities:
Electric body: Matthias’ body is filled with magic and electricity, and so electricity doesn’t really harm him; in fact it usually just heals him. He is also faster and stronger than most humans due to the electricity in his muscles and brain. Passive.
Electronic Cell Stimulation: By overfilling his cells with electricity, Matthias can heal his body anywhere from a little bit to completely by causing the cells to multiply much faster than usual and heal any wound, internal or external. Sparks are emitted when he does this, which bounce along his skin. Cooldown of anywhere from one post to fix a scratch with a spark to ten if he is beaten and practically dead, and floods himself with electricity to revive himself.
Lightning Bolt: Matthias points two fingers at a target and discharges a small amount of electricity up to three times in the form of a small blue bolt. If it hits, the target will become connected to Matthias’ fingers by a long arc of electricity, lasting for a few seconds before dissipating. Other items touching this arc will also be shocked. This can be dodged or blocked, unless the shield is electronic or metal, but if it connects does medium-high damage and can paralyze the foe for a few seconds after the bolt dissipates. Two post cooldown for each bolt discharged.
Static cling: If two items are touching or less than a meter apart, Matthias can cause them to cling together as if superglued for a varying number of posts my discharging a small purple bolt toward each. A maximum of seven posts if both items are metallic, and a minimum of one if both items are earth or plant life. Humans and clothing both fall somewhere in between at three or so. Theoretically could be blocked by blocking the discharge, though he will usually grab the item to discharge. Can be avoided by staying more than a meter away from metal or Matthias. Cooldown equal to how long the item clings.
Skin Charge: By conducting electricity to his skin, Matthias can briefly deal damage to anything that comes into contact with him, usually by charging a punch with electricity or causing a foe holding him to be shocked. Does a medium amount of damage, lasts only a few seconds (less than a post), cooldown of three posts.
Character Weapons: A specially made combat knife with no rubber, so Matthias can conduct electricity into the blade using skin charge.
Character Accessories:
Backpack: Standard one-strap bag with a main bag, a knife holster, and some small pockets on the strap.
Canteen: It’s, well, a canteen. It holds water. He keeps it in his backpack.
Tactical hood: Basically a ski mask made of spandex instead of cotton.
Small Gemstone: He keeps this in his upper pocket on the strap of his backpack. It’s a reminder of a girl from the experiment that didn’t cut it- she used to wear it in a bracelet, but it fell out as she was leaving, the last time he saw her.
Mode of Transportation: Walking, running, surfing on a power surge eventually.
Character Strengths: Physical and long- range combat, speed and friendliness.
Character Weaknesses: Has a habit of rushing into things, isn’t very good against earth types.
Character Story
Character Home World: Cathal
Character Relationships:
He grew up with four other recruits and has bonded with them; he now considers them his best, and only, friends. He also fell in love with a girl in the experiment. They went out only briefly before the government decided that she wasn’t good enough and cut her from the project. He never saw her again.
Character History:
Matthias was born and abandoned at a young age. He never knew why, or who his parents were, just that he was alone. He found enough food in the fruits and such that grew on the outskirts at a young age, and occasionally stole a bit of bread from shops when the keepers weren’t looking. He made a few friends who lived on the streets as well who were older than him but felt bad, who were there because of poverty or homelessness.
Eventually he was caught, before he was even four. His friends abandoned him when the police came by, and he was taken to a juvenile center. On his fourth birthday, though, he was taken away again, to a center where he was trained to get stronger and stronger.
Years passed, and by the time he was fourteen, he knew everyone in the project center. That’s not to say they were nice to him; in fact, the only nice ones were the four other recruits he’d made friends with, one of the scientists who actually treated him like a human, and a girl from the same project group as him, Project Zeus. The girl was always nice to him, smiling and laughing and waving when he saw her; it was a little confusing for him. She said her name was Eleanor. Eventually, he was fifteen, and he had figured it out; she liked him!
Most people would have figured it out faster, but having grown up on the street and being raised by scientists, he was a little socially awkward. Their relationship quickly progressed, although there weren’t many romantic places in a testing facility, they found a way. However, only a few months after they started going out, days after their first kiss, she was called away for a ‘special assignment’. As she left, an electric blue gemstone fell from her bracelet. He picked it up to return to her, but never saw her again.
That night, as he was lying in bed, waiting for her to come back, the lights flickered and went out. He heard screaming, first from the scientists, then from Eleanor. Then there was silence. One of the other scientists was saying something about using a generator instead of the building’s grid, and then everything quieted down. He didn’t sleep that night.
After her, there was only one other person left in his project division, but the other recruit was practically mindless. He never laughed at jokes, had never shown interest in girls, and had never really talked except when telling him how undisciplined he was. He eventually gave up trying to find the guy’s heart and tried to find out where Eleanor had gone.
When he asked around, he was told that she wasn’t as good as him and had been dropped from the project and sent to a better place. It was only the scientist that was nicer that told him the truth: she wasn’t of enough use, so they tried to use her for an experiment, which failed and killed her. Seething with rage, he tried to escape, only to be caught each time. Whenever he was around anyone, he covered it up, acting friendly and making jokes to cover the despair within him. He trained more and more, determined to avenge her, and finally, on his sixteenth birthday, made a final attempt to leave. Just as he reached the outer gate, they caught him, dragging him back in.
Instead of returning to his room, he was put in a lab, strapped to a flat piece of metal before a tank closed around him. He thrashed about before a scientist drugged him, calming him down as he fought the bonds. Finally, drowsy, he slumped forward and watched as energized blue liquid was injected into him, before the tank around him filled up with the liquid, until he was submerged in it. He saw another needle draining the blood out of him, replacing it with more of the liquid, and through the drugs he felt as if his whole body was being energized, filled with power. He noticed that he could somehow breathe through the liquid, as if it were infused with pure magic.
Then he saw a massive generator hooked up to two wires, which were lowered into the tank. Electricity shot through it, causing sparks to dance through the mana (for that is what it was) and through his body, permeating every part of him. He struggled and shook, then fainted as the electricity filled his brain. As his vision faded, he saw the scientists rejoicing around him; as his hearing faded, he heard “We’ve done it!” and joking shouts of “It’s aliiiive!”
His mind drifted through an abyss of darkness, and it was awhile until he realized he was moving. He saw a mystical world where physics meant nothing and people were cards, a castle that was green and strange looking on the outside, but white inside, where memories changes and formed real places. There were so many amazing places, so much better than where he had grown up, and he loved it. All too soon, the vision faded, with a single word: GO.
Then his eyes snapped open. He was in a cage, with metal bars and wires hooked up to it. As he looked around, he saw the other four recruits he had made friends with in the same room. He felt power buzzing through him, and he knew he’d never bee the same. That same power was eating at his mind, messing with his thoughts. He felt dizzy. Then he stood up. It was time to escape.
