The one armed man looked Ryu up and down. It was a strange thing to see since the man had to look up to look at Ryu fully. Red figured the man was barely five feet tall! He then eyed the rest of them in turn.
"Aye. I'm sure I can find some work for you scallywags." The short man suddenly turned. Red didnt know if they were supposed to follow him or not. "Well come on then!" That answered that. Following the short one armed man, he led them to a group of men. The group was busy working with one of the sails.
"We need a couple more hands here. The sail was damaged by a storm a few weeks ago. Because of it were not moving as fast as we should be." The man trailed off as he regarded Jean and Rowen. "You two." He pointed to both of them with his only hand. "You stay here and work with Jimmy here."
At the sound of the name, a tall skinny man stood. He was in his twenties with combed back black hair with an olive color skin. "Were sewing. I know. Not the funniest job, but someone's goty to do it. See all those holes..." There were literally hundreds in the tall twenty foot sail. "They all need to be sewed. Then you'll have to help us put the sail back on too."
Jimmy might have said more, but Red was pulled along by the one armed man. It seemed there was more work for all of them. The first mate led them on to a tall skinny man with blue eyes and red hair. "Yori. I got a few more workers for ya."
Yori returned the first mate's comment with a smile. "Do ya?... Well then you three." Yori pointed to Ryu, Dyne, and Sain. "Follow me. Lucky for you, you guys get to help row the ship." Yori led the two down to a different set of stair case. Red watched the three disappear. Apparently that left Red, Lakari, and Annalese left.
As the first mate led them on Lakari spoke up. "You don't perhaps any sick that need healing? I'm a healer. I've so much skill for labor anymore."
The first mate's face lit up. "Actually. We do. We have a couple of wounded men from our last battle. Go down to the sleeping quarters. Doctor Patronus is there at the moment. Tell him Tom sent ya." Lakari nodded and separted from the rest of them.
"Seems like its just us left." Red said to Annalese.

Ryu wasn't bothered by the man's height. He had learned long ago to never judge another by their appearance alone. Sure, this man was shorter and had only one arm but he held an air about him that clearly said he wasn't to be toiled with. Respectfully, Ryu waited for him to give him an answer. Finally, the first mate claimed that he could give them something to do.
He soon led them to a group of men tending to a ripped sail. Jean looked over at Rowen when he had indicated for them to stay and help sew the sail. Rowen, since this wasn't exactly his strong point, couldn't help but look back at the first mate like he had grown a second head. Rowen sew?! He gave an unhappy look in Dyne's direction who was making a mute laugh at him.
"Alright, we'll deal with it!" Jean spoke for the two of them, giving Rowen a warning look to keep quiet. If they didn't do anything, they might as well go back to the cell. Rowen let out a sigh as the first mate left them to it with Jimmy. Turning to Jean, he frowned slightly.
"How am I going to sew? I've never done it in my life!" he stated. Jean just shook her head before taking him by the hand and pulling him over to the sail.
"It's not hard, I'll show you!" she stated, taking two free needles and string from the shipmates working on the sail. Handing Rowen a needle and some string, she took her own and set it up. "Do what I just did!" she instructed. Amazed, Rowen followed her lead a bit clumsily but managed to follow her. It wasn't long before the pair of them were working on the sail with no problems, Rowen had at first but now was able to keep up with Jean.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sain, Dyne and Ryu nodded their heads when the first mate sent them to do the rowing. "See you later!" Ryu called to the others before setting off with his two friends to go row. Rowing shouldn't be all that difficult.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
It wasn't long until Lakari left the company of Annalese and Red. Now, out of the group it was just down to her and Red. She looked back at him with a slight tilt of her head when he mentioned it. Why were they left behind and what would their job entail? They wouldn't be exempt because of appearing younger, would they?
"Looks like it!" she agreed with Red before looking to the first mate, Tom, curiously. "What's our job?" she inquired.

Their age was exactly the reason why they had not recieved a job as of yet. The one armed first mate led them to a boy younger then both Red and Annalese. He wasn't even fourteen years old! Dressed in breeches and a white smock. He held a mop in his hands, which he pushed up and down the deck of the ship.
Upon seeing the one armed first mate, the boy smiled. "Ello Sir Tom. Swabbin the deck, like ya asked." The boy said in broken english.
The first mate gave the teen a warm brotherly smile. "Got some new hands to help ya with the job. Now thier your responsiblity now boy. Don't you let them mess things up. I'm trusting ya."
Red was fumming. He was not some little kid. In fact he was probably brighter then both the first mate and the captain. Well maybe not the captain... But still! "I came to be a pirate not a...."
Red's words were lost as the first mate suddenly took his absence. The boy had appeared with two more mops in hand. "You'll be a pirate soon, I reckon. Just give it some time. Tom promised me if I do this right I'll move up from cabin boy! You'll have your chance soon, but not if you don't follow orders."
At a lost of words, Red wondered how Annalese was taking this.

As they were working, Rowen couldn't help but occasionally glance in Jean's direction. They were at such a close proximity, it was hard for him not to notice. Seeing her sitting there next to him, mending a rip in the sail, it showed that other side of her again. The one he didn't usually see. So, thus why he kept finding it hard for him to really concentrate on his own work. It was thanks to his distraction that he would sometimes poke himself with the needle. Like right now. "Ah! Son of a-!" he exclaimed, bringing the newly poked thumb to his mouth and sucked on it.
Unlike the previous times he had been poked, this one actually drew blood this time around. Jean, who had been in the middle of mending a new tear, looked over at him and rolled her eyes, letting out a soft sigh of exasperation. "You poked yourself again?" she asked him.
Rowen just gave her a sheepish grin through sucking his wounded thumb. "Your best bets in stopping the bleeding would be to apply pressure to it rather than sucking on it, you know!" she stated, returning her attention to the tear. Rowen took his thumb out of his mouth and gave out a slight laugh. Putting the thumb between the index finger and thumb of his other hand, Rowen sat there for a minute. Now, why hadn't he thought of that before? Well, he knew why, it was hard for him to concentrate with Jean so close. For some reason, his nerves were on edge with her so close and yet...he welcomed it but kept having the misfortune of screwing up.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Annalese blinked as she and Red were taken toward a kid mopping the deck. She looked over at Red when he spoke, saying he had come to be a pirate. The first mate didn't seem to hear him before heading off. "You humans definitely have a worse hearing problem than we."
She looked back at the ten year old kid as he handed them mops. Annalese raised an eyebrow as she looked it up and down before observing what he was doing. She glanced back toward Red. It was obvious by the scrunched up look to her nose that she found the idea appalling. "I can carry heavy things worse than this, do they really want me to move a toothpick life sized brush across the ship?"

"That attitude isn't going to get you anywhere." The boy responded to Annalese. He shook his finger at her in retorate. "Tom left me in charge of you all. So you got to do what I say now. And this deck needs swabbing. With all the rockin back and forth we'll be at this all day. But someone's gotta do it!"
Red sighed. What else was there to do? It wasn't like they had much of a choice in the matter. "Well let's just get to it then, I guess." The boy gave Red a smile.
"See little girl! Your friend has the pirate spirit! So what are your all names? I'm called Jeb." Jeb handed Red a mop. This was not the kind of adventure he expected while being a pirate.
"I'm Red."
----------
As Jean and Rowen worked, Jimmy worked as well. With two more hands things were going slightly faster. Of course Rowen was inexperienced at sowing. In reality they only had about one hand and a half helping them. As they worked a sea creature walked past them.
Jimmy, and the rest of the pirates working on the sail, quickly cast their eyes downward. It was quite obvious they wanted nothing to do with the creatures. One could say there was even fear in their eyes.

Annalese openly frowned at the smaller child when he shook a finger before her as he retorted. Her eyes, for the briefest of moments, had turned into cat-like slits. A sign she was annoyed by this young human. As he spoke, she blinked and the look vanished for the time being as he told them how he was left in charge of them. That what they were going to do would be all day long.
"I don't see the importance of it!" she stated.
She blinked, furrowing her eyebrows slightly to look over at Red when he seemed to just give in. Being a vampire, she didn't always budge just because someone else told her to. When she was called' little girl' she turned toward the boy slowly. Her pupils once again turning cat-like as she frowned down at him.
"I'm far older than you could ever hope to reach, little one!" she stated gruffly. Despite her annoyance, she didn't lash out at the kid. Annalese didn't openly attack those younger than herself nor was she the kind of vampire her family members were. She scrunched up her nose with distaste as they were handed mops. The kid telling them his name was Jeb after asking what their's were.
"I'm Annalese Veraldi XI." If anyone heard that name, they'd probably give her a very curious stare. People with names like that tended to come from noble blood. In her kind's standards, she was of noble blood.
---------------------------------------------------------------
As the progress with the sail continued, Rowen could see himself getting somewhat slightly better. It wasn't by too much though but at least he was trying. With Jean so near, it was difficult for him to think clearly and not mess up.
During the time they were there, a sea creature walked past. When it had, the pirates about them seemed to have cast their gazes downwards and away from it. Jean couldn't help but notice as she gave them a curious glance. It looked a lot like they were scared of them. When the creatures were out of ear shot, she decided to voice her question.
"Not to sound imposing but...why do you all look away when they pass?" she finally asked.

Jimmy mumbled a swear. "Keep your voices down!" He said in a whispery shout. Jimmy's head popped up. First he glanced to make sure the Captain was out of ear shot. Then he found the first mate berating a pirate out of ear shot.
Taking one more cautious glance to the left and right, he turned back to Jean. "It's never good to look at the damned creatures of the sea Miss. Bad luck they say. To do dealings with the damned is like playing with fire. But so long as Captain has that pendent around his neck they follow his every word."
Once again pausing to try and spot any of the creatures near by, "But if that pendent were to fall into someone elses hands. Or let's say it's loss. I don't very well doubt that we'll all be one of them if that happens. Then again, I think we'll end up like that anyway." As if he was afraid to say any more, Jimmy returned to his work.
---------------
Red was not at all surprised about the way Annalese introduced herself. Jed though didn't even seem to understand all of that. "Well I don't got any fancy last namings like that. You can just call me Jeb girly."
Indicating them to follow with a wave of the hand, Red followed the boy across the ship. Something seemed to catch Jeb's eye because he hurried his steps. Coming to a spot of the ship where a wave splashed water on the wood of the boat, Jeb's mop began swabbing. "Just like this ya see! You got to keep up with it. Captain likes a dry deck... Just squeeze the water off the side of the boat."
Demonstrating just that, Jeb gave Red and Annalese a smile. "Alright sulders. Girly you take the south of the ship. Boyo you take the center. And I'll take the north. We stop at noon for lunch, and work ends at dinner. Now no diddle dallying."
Red shook his head. Not really having much choice in the matter, he began to swab the ship right where he was at. After all he was in the center. Jeb went ahead and walked over to the north. Leaving just Annalese and Red he turned to her. "Maybe things will get intresting soon or something." He said hopefully.

Rowen gave Jimmy a raised eyebrow, while he still kept pressure applied to where he had recently poked himself with a needle. If anything, he was just giving the man a curious look. What did Jimmy mean in saying that? Jean looked over at Jimmy confusedly as well. She didn't really find them so frightening. At least, not right now anyway. She was just curious if they gave the pirates here reason to act that way.
Sure enough, Jimmy went into a brief explanation about the sea creatures. They only obeyed the person that wore the pendant. If the pendant was relinquished from the captain's possession, the pirates believed that they would turn into those things. In all honesty, it sounded like a superstition. Then again, after having met Silver, Jean knew that by now nothing should be much of a surprise.
"That's...horrible. Hopefully that's not the case."
----------------------------------------------------------
Annalese frowned at the mop she was given. When handed to her, she remembered how the human captain wanted them to act like. Either they work for him or remain a prisoner until the trip was over. Her pride as a vampire wouldn't allow her to remain a prisoner. Her pride had also made it difficult for her to really cope with this idea of labor since she had never had to work a day in her life.
Her annoyance, even though it had been there briefly, soon left her as she set her eyes on the water. Seeing what Jeb did, she guessed she could humor the humans. Why they felt the need to do this every day when the water would only return time and time again was a mystery to her. It would be fine to just leave it well enough alone rather than bother one's self fighting the inevitable.
It wasn't long before Jeb suggested who did what before wandering to his own side of the ship. Annalese watched as Red began to work where he was standing. She tilted her head when he spoke. "If you find the open sea, isolated more like that of a desert, interesting then by all means." Turning about, she looked at her mop curiously before stepping on the head with one foot. The other, she used to slide about with. Oh, Annalese. The typical ADD one of the group.

Unaware of the happenings above the deck, Artemis sat idly in the only chair in the small cell. His mind was completely empty as he meditated. The art of meditation was one of the best ways to restore the body in both mind and soul. It was for that reason that he meditated. Plus it helped with patience.
The sound of footsteps entered Artemis's ears, but he did not open his eyes. He was aware that someone stood in front of the cell, watching him. It was not long before that voice spoke. It was not a human's voice. It had a reptilian sound to its speach and its pitch was unisex. "Kill the Captain. Reward you heavily."
Eyes snapping open, Artemis was not surprised to find one of the sea creatures in front of him. Artemis shook his head. "I've been asked by three of your kind already. My answer remains the same."
The very laid back looking creature suddenly began to look very dark and serious. Razor sharp teeth hissed at the assassin. Sharp talons extracted from the fingers of the webbed hands. If any of this bothered Artemis, it did not show on his face. "That will acomplish nothing. You are still bound by that pendent."
The creature's face darkened even more. "Kill you!" With that the creature spun about and went back ontop the ship. Shutting his eyes once more, Artemis drifted back into meditation. The faster they were all off this ship, the better. ------------
The Captain felt a soft tingle from the pendent. What his crew did not know, was that with each passing second more and more energy was drained from him into that pendent. It took so much just to control the creatures. Most would have just thrown the thing away. They would have been as far away from these creatures that they could.
Captain White did not have that option. The sea creatures were the only way he could rise the kracken. And without the kracken there was no way they could combat the evil of the Navy. Things had changed in the last few months. Ever since that one man had been made commander.
It was then that Captain White, formally Admiral White, left the navy. It was something never heard of. Going from a man of the law, to a pirating criminal. Yet this was the only way. What else could he do?
------------
Jimmy looked up to the sky. "Storms a comin." He spoke to Jean and Rowen. He pointed to the distance where dark clouds could be seen on the horizen.

Annalese slid around her end of the ship a few more times. Eventually, she grew tired of sliding around on the mop head with one of her feet on it. Getting off, she soon turned to observe what Red was doing. Seeing what he and Jeb were doing, her ADD allowed her to finally try it. On her end, she began to mop the water aside off the deck.
"Lalalala~!" she sang to herself as she worked. It earned her a few questioning looks but she seemed as oblivious as ever.
------------------------------------------------------------------
After a while, Rowen was finally able to work at a pace almost as good as the others. It had taken him a while though. Somehow, it were as if the consistency of what was being done managed to pull his attention away from Jean. It were almost as if he had forgotten she was even there because of the constant lull of the work they were doing. His clumsiness soon gone.
It was a while yet before they started showing progress on all the rips and tears in the sail. By the time they were doing so, Jimmy had glanced up toward the skies. Only to announce to the rest that a storm was brewing.
Lifting their heads up, Jean and Rowen looked at the unfriendly clouds looming in the horizon. Neither of them had been on the open seas like this. They weren't sure what trouble this would bring them. "Does it look bad?" Jean inquired.
"What do we do?" asked Rowen.

Jimmy spoke but his eyes never left the clouds. "Not much. The Captain's bound to have seen it already. It's too near to sail away from." Turning away from the sky, Jimmy's eyes rested on the first mate. He seemed to have noticed Jimmy's glancing for he walked over to the group of them.
"Arm's a tinglin. Bound to be a bad one." The first mate gestured to his missing arm. What Jean and Rowen did not know was that the one armed first mate always felt a tingling on the arm every time a storm was near. The rest of the crew knew it.
"Lost the arm in a storm just like the one comin. Snapped right off when I was trying to hold the mast together. It was the only thing keepin us from tippin over at the time. Lost my arm, but by the seas I did not let go of that mast." The first mate nodded to Jean.
There was a sense of determination on every pirate's face. They were all determined. It didn't matter how dark the horizon looked. Jimmy rose. "What you should do is get below deck. No offense to you all, but your not real sailors. You'd just get in the way mam'."
The first mate seemed to agree with this. He walked over to Jeb, who was busy swabbing the deck. "Boy. Round up our temporary visitors. Get them below deck. Storm's a blowing."
It didn't take long before Red was pulled, by Jeb to where Jean and Rowen were busy with the sail. Jeb appeared. "There all on their way sir. They'll be here in a moment." The first mate nodded.
Red turned to Jean. "What's going on?"

Jean and Rowen took their eyes off the storm clouds as Jimmy spoke. By the sound of it, things weren't looking too good. The storm had brewed rather close by and it appeared as if they couldn't really do much except face it. Whether they liked it or not, it was coming. Jean exchanged glances with Rowen then. They'd have to find the others if they weren't kept above deck to try and help.
"...Good luck never seems to be on our side, huh?" she said to Rowen. Rowen nodded his head slowly at that after meeting her gaze with his only working eye.
It wasn't long before the first mate walked over to them, announcing that his arm was tingling. Jean and Rowen looked back at him as he explained why his arm tingled. Whenever a storm that bad came, like the one he lost his arm in, the arm would tingle. When he told them that they weren't real sailors and to go below deck, Jean didn't argue. Rowen seemed a little insulted but Jean just lightly tapped him on the shoulder to stop him from doing anything stupid. He got the hint and simmered down, holding his tongue as the pirates went to gather the rest of their group.
Jean looked at Red when he asked what was going on. "A storm is coming...a very nasty one. We'll only be in the way so they're gathering us and having us go below deck." Rowen nodded at that. He still seemed a little offended but he was getting over it.
"I sense a lot of urgency."

Red nodded to Annalese. "Storm's coming. Guess we got to go down below deck." Where down below deck was.... Red did not know. Jeb nodded when Annalese had walked over.
"Come on ya'll. The others will met us in the sleeping quarters." Leading the way, Red was slightly releived that they were not returning to the prison cell. Still he wondered how Artemis was going to fare in the storm by himself.
Most likely the assassin would be fine. He seemecd to have survived worst things. Jeb led them to a different set of stairs on the other end of the ship. It was located at the end of the ship, and right by the cabin's quarters. Leading the way down, Red found himself in a large room filled with bunk beds and hamicks.
Off to the side of the room, Lakari talked with a man whose leg was wrapped in bandages. Dyne, Sain, and Ryu were there as well waiting for them. Jeb took a seat on the bed. "Storm will be hitting in a few moments." The small boy said.
Red glanced over to Jean. She was right. They had terrible luck! "What's so bad about the storm?" Red had never been on the sea before, he really didn't know.
Even though the question was posed to Jean, Jeb spoke up and answered. "Well seas have been bad of late. Storms have been killing lots of ships. There are no small storms anymore. And that's not even the worst of it. You guys might have a way to help if there are windmanes."
Red glanced at the boy. "Windmanes?"
Jeb shivered. "Creatures that come with the storms. Wind spirts made entirely of darkness." Red frowned. These windmanes sounded exactly like heartless. The heartless seemed to be every where as of late.
"Have these windmanes always followed storms?"
Jeb nodded. "Ya, but not as many as in the recent months. Windmanes suck your soul right out. You become one of them. Let's just hope that we don't run into the Storm Rider."
From the confused look on everyone's faces Jeb gave them all a questioning look. "The Storm Drifter.... Ya know, the ghost ship of storms. Captain Lightning? My momma used to tell me all about them when I was growing up. Told me never to go into a lightning storm. Said that was how you know the difference from a regular storm and the Storm Drifter."
All of a sudden a loud flash of lightning flashed across the sky. Even though they were below deck, the light from it flashed in the small windows scattered on the left side of the room.

Jean nodded at what Red said about the storm. It was true that they should all get out of the way when neither of them had experience in the sailing department. "...Yeah, don't want to be a burden!" Rowen added. He wasn't calling Red a burden, just implying some distaste at what they had been told earlier. Jean just rolled her eyes and shook her head at that. Rowen could be known for his temper at times.
Eventually, they were led to the sleeping quarters. There, the others were found. All but Artemis were in this very room. "How did things go on your end?" Jean asked Ryu as she walked over to them.
"They were fine, rowing wasn't hard but it can get tiresome after a while. Good thing we train a lot, eh guys?" Ryu said, glancing over at Sain and Dyne who nodded.
"Glad to hear it." With that, she turned as Jeb went into a long explanation as to why the storms were so nasty. Apparently, creatures were causing this. The way he described them, it sounded a lot like Heartless to her. She glanced over at Red after Jeb finished.
"Storm Drifter? Never heard of it!" Rowen stated. Jean nodded at that. While they were all busy talking, Annalese had a moment of inattentiveness. Having wandered over to the windows, the sudden flash made her fall onto her butt in surprise. "AHCK! VIOLENT LIGHT!" she exclaimed. Since she was a vampire, any light that bright was dangerous in her opinion. She was happy to have the ring she had on. It was her lifeline.

Red turned up to Annalese. She had been right by the window when the lightning struck. Red felt sorry for the vampire. She probably had sensitve eyes too. "I wouldn't stand to close to the window..." He suggested polietly.
A loud boom followed the lightning. It wasn't long now... The storm was practically here. When the storm did arrive, it came like a tidal wave. One moment there was not a thing... the next a loud gust could be heard as the patter of rain struck the ship.
Waves suddenly grew three times their size and clashed against the ship. This caused the boat to begin to swerve. Red could hear nothing above the loud sound of rain and wind. If one listened real close, they could hear the shouts of orders as men moved about ontop the deck.
It took all of Red's strength to simply stop himself from throwing up. In addition he couldn't help but be afraid that at any moment the ship might capsize. "Is there anything we could do?" Red shouted.
Jeb simply shook his head. They were sitting ducks in the middle of a storm. How bad it must be for the pirates up there!
---------------------
Captain White shouted orders as he did his best to keep the ship from capsizing. The large wheel was tight in his hands. Whenever the ship began to rock one way, he turned the wheel the opposite. He couldn't see a thing with all the rain and flashing lightning. He had to rely on his own sense.
He had to trust in his crew to do their job. They had survived storms just like these before. By damn if they let one like this destroy them!
As a large wave struck the side of the deck, Captain White held onto the wheel for his life. He had to use all his strength to keep the wheel from spinning with the boat. With a scream of defiance he heaved with his shoulders. He just barely managed to keep the wheel from spinning out of control.
And just as quickly as it had seemed to come the storm seemingly died to a small drizzle and flashing lightning.
-------------
All of a sudden there was a quiet. The rain slowed to a soft pat pat pat. Red turned to Jeb. "Is that it?" Was the storm over! If so then thank the heavens!
Jeb did not have a reassuring look on his face. He brought his finger up to his lips in a "shhh" matter. Not a sound could be heard beside the soft pat of the rain. And then all of a sudden a wail of screams came from above deck.
Not a second later Jimmy appeard. He was covered in blood. "The wind manes are..." Jimmy never got to finish his sentence as a clawed hand suddenly sprouted from his back. As Jimmy fell to the ground, three creatures entered.
They were similiar to Novashadow heartless. Except two blue lines traced down their bodies. In addition their faces were more amphibian in nature. It was as if the sea creatures that currently lived on the ship had fused with the heartless and created a new creature. These would be the "windmanes'".

Annalese shielded her eyes from the following flashes of light, hissing at it in annoyance and slight fear. If anything, vampires feared lightning as they did silver, holy water, a stake of wood and the holy cross. When Red told her it was best to stay away from the windows, she peered up at him and slowly nodded.
"Light is deadly for my kind. I am lucky to have my ring to keep the light from doing so."
Suddenly, the ship rocked back and forth with a force so strong, Jean found herself staggering about. It was most unfortunate for her that the rocking resulted in her landing on someone. It was in an awkward way too. Turning red, Jean tried to push herself up off of him but to no avail since when she made to get back up, another rock of the ship sent her falling back down and onto him again.
"I-I'm so sorry, Rowen!" Jean apologized.
By the time the storm had stopped, Jean finally pushed herself up and away from Rowen. Her face was redder than red, so red her ears were even red. "S-Sorry!" she apologized before the screaming above caught everyone's attention.
As Jimmy showed up, something gored him to reveal a strange looking Heartless sort. Yet, not quite. "Guys? Do either of you have a weapon?" inquired Sain.
"Unfortunately, no. Do any of you?" Jean asked the others. Annalese shook her head at that. She hadn't gotten her whip back from the pirates just yet.

Red realized that he was the only one here with a weapon. All of their weapons had been taken from them when they were first captured. That left only Red to defend all of them here. Stretching out his hand, his keyblade formed in his grasp. That was the good thing about a keyblade. You couldn't really disarm them. They had the tendency to teleport back to you.
The "windmanes" let out a screech upon seeing him standing there to defend them. The first one charged, it's claws aiming to rip Red's head right off. Swinging his keyblade, he drove the clawed hand up. Swinging about he struck the creature across the chest and sending it into the back of another of the charging creatures.
The third windmane though slipped right past Red. There was no way the teen could effectively defend against all three. The third windmane charged right for Jean and Rowen.
------------------
Above deck was chaos. There were literally tons of the creatures as they attacked the pirates. In addition the rain and wind began to pick up. Captain White had to steer the ship. He didn't have the time to defend himself against the creatures. No matter what happened, he couldn't let go the wheel.
A windmane floated up with the wind and landed right in front of the wheel. The creature showed its teeth in what Captain White would have sworn was a grin. But how could a creature like this grin. It's razer claws flashed towards him. With one hand on the wheel, White tried to pull his saber out of its sheath. But he knew it was to late. He hadn't acted fast enough!

As chaos raught seemingly everywhere, Artemis sat casually in the cell. He was aware of the screams aboard the ship, but he would not move. He had been caught as a stow away. He would not budge unless he was told he was allowed too.
The foolish jailor had charged as soon as the screams had started. Artemis of course knew a thing about these creatures. Most likely "they" were responsible for them.
Artemis shut his eyes. As long as the creatures did not enter the cell he did not have to deal with them. He waited patiently for the storm to pass, but it seemed fate had different plans. The jailer appeared. He had scrapes across his giant torso.
"Alright stow away! If were all goin ta die, we mine as well let ya fight fer yer life as well." As he spoke, the large man unlocked the gate to the cell. "Yer weapon and cloak are right there." Leaving Artemis to his belongings the jailor rushed back up stairs.
Sighing, Artemis walked over to his cloak. Seemed like he would join in the fight. Artemis picked up his sheated sword and placed is around his hip. He had no need for the cloak anymore. He had used it to hide. He wasn't hiding anymore.

If one said it was utter chaos, they might just be right about that. One moment, things were fine and the next, these strange creatures were climbing aboard the ship. Looking at them, Jean could easily see they were possibly some sort of new Heartless species or mutation. The little buggers were usually known to attack in large numbers. This seemed a lot like a Heartless to her despite the variances they had to the regular ones she saw.
Having no weapon, things were looking pretty grim for most of them here. Annalese, where she was a vampire, had nothing more than pure strength and speed to help her here. Jean, she could rely on just physical abilities and magic if she was in a more desperate situation. As for others, it was unclear here who would be able to do what.
It was a no brainer that here, Sain couldn't hope to achieve much since he normally was the healer of the group that was able to physically fight as well.
The only one out of them all who had an actual weapon provided for them was Red. His keyblade could be summoned in a way that allowed for it. Rowen and the other three mercenaries couldn't summon theirs if they wanted to in this very ship. There was some kind of barrier preventing that.
When one got past Red, heading right for Rowen and Jean, well things took a turn for the worse. It wasn't like they were going to just stand there and do nothing. Reacting, as the creature came toward them, Jean flipped backwards. As she did so, she hit the creature upside the head with the backlash of her booted feet as she flipped away. It caused the creature to stagger backwards, shaking its head from the hit.
Seeing an opening, Rowen punched it and sent it flying back about five feet from where they were, making it land in a heap. "Tag team!" Rowen said with a grin.
"Just pay attention to them, Rowen before we both end up dead."

Artemis entered the fray of battles above deck. The clash of swords could be heard as he silently drew his jeweled dagger. There were dozens of the windmanes above deck. Artemis seemingly just strolled through the battle. However as soon as one of the creatures came to close they fell. It was odd because Artemis didn't even seem to move. Yet each creature fell as Artemis passed it.
One of them tried to attack from behind. It thought it had the advantage of surprise. But when its claw slashed nothing but air, a confused expression crossed its face. That expression turned to pain as a jeweled dagger penetrated its skull.
Even though there were many of the creatures, Artemis arrival alone was enough to help turn the tide. His expertise skill was in individual combat. He was not a general. He did not know how to command men. But he knew how to fight. And fighting was exactly what he was doing.
------------------------
Captain White looked in horror as the creature's claw came closer. Time seemed to slow for him as death approached. Was this it? After everything he had been through it was hard to just sit there and let things end.
He was not going to draw his blade in time. Perhaps it was fate that White lost control of the wheel as a large wave splashed against the side of the ship. It caused White to trip backwards. As the claw came closer though it collided with his shirt slashing it, but missing his skin by mere inches.
As White crashed to the ground the ship suddenly began to rock to the right. The good thing was that Captain White had gotten his weapon out. Standing up, White stabbed upward. Colliding with the abdomen of the windmane it fell into darkness. Without pausing White grabbed a hold of the spinning wheel and used all his strength to reverse the spin.
---------------------
The sudden rock of the boat threw off Red's battle. As he did another windmane sneaked past him and charged at Jean and Rowen. The other that he was currently fighting was knocked to the side as well. It seemed to Red as if the boat was going to turn on its side at any moment.
Not a few seconds later though the ship righted itself. Returning to the fight, Red slashed his keyblade. These windmanes were smarter then the average heartless. They had an almost human way of thinking. The creature stepped back to avoid Red's slash. This was getting really irritating.
Red waited for the enemy to go on the offensive. When it did, he dodged via rotating to the right. Bringing the keyblade across he hacked the creature right in half before it disappeared into darkness.

No sooner had Rowen and Jean dealt with one creature, another came right for them. This time though, it seemed more wary of them than the previous one. As if seeing the way its ally was taken down were enough for it to learn a thing or two. Jean and Rowen once again put their guards up as they faced their enemy.
As it lunged for them, Jean aimed a kick at its face but the thing blocked it. "How-?!" she exclaimed before it sent her flying into Rowen. Well, that hadn't actually sent her flying into Rowen, really. What had really sent her flying backwards was the rocking of the ship.
"Whoa!" Rowen exclaimed before suddenly getting landed on by Jean.
"Hah!" Ryu exclaimed, finally getting into the scuffle. Rowen and Jean, while they were down, he and Dyne were still standing, able to fight. Sending a fireball at the creature, Ryu hit it square in the face. As it went out, the creature howled from the sudden pain as it held its face.
"Nice shot, Ryu!" Jean called as she and Rowen got back up, only for the ship to rock violently again.
"I think I'm...going to be sick!" Annalese stated.
