As expected, Wes felt as if he was going to explode with anger at the girl's mention of switching positions. Who did Kendra take he and Kress for? Weaklings? Chumps? He was a bit annoyed to say the least. "What do you mean by that Kenny?! Yeah, that's right, I downgraded you to 'Kenny.' You no longer have earned the right to be called 'KenKen.' Y'know you got some nerve thinking you're stronger than Kress! Name the time and place, sweetheart, he'd kick your as- Hey!" Feeling a strong pinch at his side, Wes could only cross his arms and scowl. The socially troubled girl already felt bad enough, Kress could see it in her body language, she didn't need Wes making it worse on her. To be honest, Kress also felt a bit shamed, but he was sure his friend had her reasons. Nodding his head in agreement, the boy forced a smile on his face. "Hey, you got it. Wes and I will sneak onto the ship and get things ready while you distract the pirates. Just don't get yourself into too much trouble. After all, I can't owe you an apple if you don't have teeth to chew it with."
Hearing his partner agree to switch the positions, The weasel was livid. Kress had just made every thing he had just said seem like an empty threat. Now Kendra would think she was right about the boy being weak and keep treating him as such. "What in the pickles was that Kress? Why are you gonna let her walk all over you like that? We could handle the other job." Shaking his head, Kress began to stretch his arm over his head, as if he was getting limber. "Because she's our friend, Wes. Besides, she had the idea to split up earlier and that worked great. Tell you what, if this one doesn't work out, I'll let you decide next time. Deal?" The weasel nodded in agreement, allowing the boy to finally move on with the plan. Wes's antics had already caused him to have a bit of worry about how Kendra felt about his fighting ability, he'd be damned if the little nuance was going to stop him from putting an end to the pirates.
Before he began to walk towards the edge of the dock, Kress turned around, handing Kendra a Medibot. "Hopefully you won't have to use that, but y'know, just in case. Make sure you keep your transceiver on, I really don't wanna be stranded on that thing alone with a bunch of bearded bullies." With that, Kress took a small leap off the dock and into the waters. Of course, leaping into the freezing waters wasn't his first or favorite choice, but it would get him onto the ship as quietly as possible. He'd hate to make the foes aware of his presence by sticking the ship with his grappling-wristband, so it seemed treading water was the logical move. It would be a bit of a unpleasant and lengthy swim for the boy. Unlike his new friend, Kress didn't have the luxury of being able to ski across the water. Though with the temperature of the water, Kress was fairly certain he'd kill for it. As the duo were swimming towards the boat, Kress began to chuckle, unaware his transceiver was still on.
"What's so damn funny?!"
"You really called her 'sweetheart.' What, have you been reading my Detective Hank comics again? Because last time I checked, you're not exactly a fast-talking, street-smart private investigator."
"Oh, because there your comics I can't read them? Selfish jerk."
"No, I'm just surprised that you read something in general."
"Hahaha, up yours Kress. Just keep swimming."
After treading water for a few more minutes, Kress was in range of the captains ship. He thought the ship looked big from the docks, but that was nothing compared to the ship in person. The boy would look like a ant in the water compared to this gargantuan thing. Taking another few minutes to even be in reaching distance of the ship, shook his head. Kendra had to have made it on to the ship by now and here he was still at the bottom of it. He was begging to think that maybe he was substantially weaker than her. Taking a deep breath, Kress grabbed hold of the ship, beginning to climb his way Captain Blubber-Gut's whale of a ship. He kept climbing for what seemed like hours, moving his feet and hands in unison was begging to have droning effect on Kress. It was almost saddening to think that boarding the ship was going to be the easy part of this plan, especially after how exhausted he was getting to the top. Vaulting over the railing in the back of the ship, Kress slunk behind a pole for cover. As he peeped out of his cover, he could see three pirates on lookout. "You ready Kendra? As soon as I get the sail down, distract the three bozos over there."Getting a nod from Kress, Wes hopped of his shoulder and began to scurry up the pole. It was at this time Kress could see what Kendra was talking about. He did appear to have the advantage in stealth with Wes being a second pair of eyes. Maybe she really did just think this setup was better, but he didn't want to drift in his thoughts at this time.
Sliding down the pole and landing on Kress's shoulder, Wes pointed towards the center of the ship and began to whisper. "The sail controls are right over there. Just keep it quiet and quick, Kressy. I can hear a crap-ton of them in there." A bit dumbfounded his partner was being cooperative, Kress nodded, looking a bit wide-eyed. He tried his best to walk as lightly as possible towards the ships controls, looking around frantically with every step. The last thing he wanted was to attract premature attention. Pulling a lever he assumed affected the sail, he watched as the sail began to come down at a snails-pace. Great, just what he needed, more complications to the plan. Crouching down behind a barrel, he placed two fingers on his transceiver. ""Kendra, The sail is... A bit of a stinker... We may have to deal with more of them than we thought." Kress let out a sigh, slapping his forehead. It was to be expected at this point. Any plan Kress made seemed to have some sort of miscalculation in it, why would this one be different? it would only add to his frustration that his weasel was there to sass him every step of the way.
"You know, we wouldn't have these problems if we just sunk the flipping boat. But noooo you always gotta be- ."
"Wes, I am seriously considering getting you stuffed."
"Alright, alright. Geez, Mr.Touchy."
Unsheathing his sword, Kress waited for his partners move. Knowing how Kendra handled herself, she probably wouldn't need him, but it was better to be safe than sorry.

Done, and done. Well, the weasel piping up about Kendra considering herself stronger than them, when that wasn't what she thought at all! She saw his setup and even use a spell or two a couple times but she never actually noticed how he fought, and the girl didn't want him to be the distraction, if... well... it became too much. She knew for a fact she could handle multiple enemies at a very efficient level, coupled with the fact that Kress had Wes to help sneak around... well, it seemed logically better. Wes always had to complicate things didn't he?
The girl had looked down at the ground solemnly, unable to reply really, her shyness getting the best of her. Luckily her friend came to her rescue agreeing with the plan and even mentioning that it seemed like a good idea. Wes disdainfully agreed, and while still looking down, Kendra smiled a bit. "Do you best!" she called out, before taking the medibot and clipping it to her side and running off. 'do your best'? What kind of parting phrase was that? She felt really lame all of a sudden, even as she jumped gracefully onto the water and started propelling herself across the top.
Well, She could've easily have just held on to him and skied them both across, but the thought of being that close frightened her and just decided that if he was content with swimming she would let him do that. She felt bad of course, but her lack of confidence would be to blame for this blunder. Well, it wasn't really a blunder, just a bit of inconvenience. And of course, she would have time to rally up the attention of the pirates on board before he made it, right? Maybe it would work out this way after all... It seemed like an insignificant justification but it made her feel more at ease for leaving him behind because of her petty emotions.
Arriving to the hull, it was time for a leap! Arcing the water up, she propelled herself and landed on the top deck in plain sight for everyone to witness. If this didn't get their attention, she didn't know what would. "That's one of the runts! After her!" He said. Unfortunately the crew on this ship has been paying close attention from afar and got a clear view of the two of them causing trouble. They were expecting them. Two of them. Hopefully despite this anticipation Kress would still manage to get on pretty easily.
"Aqueduct..." Kendra began to chant, wasting no time reacting to the crew that began to surround her with swords. She swiveled her hips and threw her arms high into the air to raise her staff, creating a torrent of water beneath her feet. "Barrage!" She sprung a bit into the air creating one wave at her front knocking over two pirates that began moving first, twisting to the side and sending out another bout of water as a strong wave, this time slightly higher to another group, then bending backwards using one hand to spring and turn her simultaneously and landing gracefully on her feet again before raising her staff and sending out a third wave, this one even bigger than the last, at the rest of the pirates surrounding her.
It seemed that her attempt to draw attention was working. A couple more sprung up, and by the looks of things they were prepared like Kress had said since they had more firearms. No matter, Kendra was prepared. "Kress! It's working! They're eating out of the palm of my hand!" She said. Of course, that wasn't a literal phrase, but she was accomplishing her objective simply enough. "You think you're dry up there!? Rain!" She called out as the enemies sighted their rifles. The sky got much darker as a giant raincloud began pouring on them, which made them look up for a bit.
Well, it was only a minor distraction, they had a job to do and it looked like the girl was readying another spell. "You won't move another inch!" She called again, but the pirates had already aimed. Click! ...And nothing. wet powder doesn't spark, after all! "Permafrost!" She called, an icy chill running along the pirate's bones. They could move, but it took a lot of effort to do so and even then it was sluggish and draining at best. This... these intense fights were her release. From being lonely all the time and never really have anyone to talk to or interact with, calling out her spells and mantras so proudly made her feel so strong, like she could do anything. And she knew Kress was listening, too. For such a shy girl, she had a strong voice when it mattered.
It was around then that she got the request for three more, after the sail came down. "Got it." she said, moving into position after aiming her staff and firing off a water missile and using the recoil to spin herself around and aim at the other with the rife and water missile him as well. She ran off to the other side of the deck to deal with-- oh? The sail was a 'stinker', eh? She saw the three targets. The fact that they weren't actively engaged made her think; especially based on what one of the pirates called out earlier. Of course they were expecting two people. They didn't send everyone after just her after all...
As interesting as contemplating the selective brilliance of the pirates, there was work to do. Hmm... She had an idea on how to keep them busy. "Kress! Hang on to something solid as if your life depended on it!" She called, slamming her staff into the ground, spinning it slightly and then giving it a firm grasp, jolting it into the air. She then lunged to the side... and waited a few seconds. Then she lunged completely to the other side. There was a slight nudge on the boat. Lunged back to the original direction, and the nudge was far more noticeable. A few more seconds, and another lunge... A much larger crash and the boat tipped slightly.
A few more of these and the boat tipped more and more... until finally... the biggest crash yet! the boat nearly rolled to its side, but Kendra wasn't done yet! She latched onto the nearest railing as the boat went to steady itself and thrust her staff the other way, causing overcompensation and a nearly identical tip to the other side! She created a pendulum cycle for the boat, causing everyone and everything to stagger and fumble about. This would probably granted the boy plenty of time for the sail to get the sail down, or at least loosen it.

What a sight. Although he didn't want to stare, Kress couldn't help it. Kendra cycled into to each spell she so gracefully and methodically. It made his of spell castin way look like what Wes would leave in the front yard of people's houses back in their villiage. As he watched his partner handle the pirates as if they were just flys, he couldn't help but feel a bit like a weakling. Here he was hiding like a coward behind a barrel while his partner did all the muscle-work. Well, he wasn't going to stand around and do nothing any longer. Looking at Wes and giving a nod, Kress vaulted over the barrels, aiming his two pistols at the nearest pirate. Before he even had a chance to take a shot at the foe, the pirate was once again taken care of by Kendra. Well, looked like it was time to rethink his plan once more. Seeing how Kendra was handling the crowds, it was obivious she wouldn't need his assistance. Of course, he'd back her up if she was in need, but that wasn't looking to be very likely in this battle. What he needed was a way to make himself useful without getting in the girls way, but what? it was quite the question indeed. Looking over towards the sluggish sail, Kress finally had an idea. The boy wasted no time, running the the post the sail was attached to and placing his weasel on it. "Hey, what gives? Why the hell am I on this thing?" Still remaining silent, Kress reached into his pocket, pulling out bits of scrap metal and shoved them into Wes's tool bag. "With this extra weight, you should be able able to pull that sail down a little faster Wes. Just try to push it down as hard as you can." With a bit of a grumble, Wes was off towards the sail. Kress didn't want to upset his weasel (not that upseting Wes was hard to do,) but he could only chuckle as his partner climbed up the post. It wasn't what Wes was doing, but how much the little guy was struggling with climbing with the weight of the metal. It was slightly adorable to watch him stagger up the pole, to say the least. Unfortunately, Kress's moment of amusement was cut short by Kendra. Hang on to something? That was an odd demand. What exactly was she planing to do? The boy wouldn't have to wonder much longer. As Kress fixed his eyes on Kendra, he could tell what was going to happen based on her movements with her staff. The plan he had once considered to be brilliant was now about to backfire. To make matters worse, if Wes was to fall off of the boat with his recently made weight-pack, he'd most definitely sink. With the first rapid shake of the the boat, Kress was left in a crouching position, leaving the boy a bit worried. He was starting to wish he had just listened to Kendra and hung on to something. Of course, Kendra wouldn't just stop with boat barely rocking back in forth. No, she had to make sure the ship was piveting in all directions before she would be content. It would've been a bit more beneficial to him if he hadn't standed around like an idiot when she warned him. With every time the ship would change the direction it violently rocked, Kress would tumble along the ground with it, frantically trying to grasp at anything that could keep him still. Although common sense would dictate that he should have been focusing on his own well being, Kress found himself constantly trying to see his furry partner on the sail. He wouldn't be able to see Wes with all of his movement, but Kress kept on trying regardless. Wes wasn't having much of a better time up on the sail post. The poor weasel had been able hang on to the sail, but was losing grip of the post with every sudden jerk of the massive ship. One thing Kendra's idea to rock to the ship had helped was the sail. With Wes's weight and the momentum behind each of the boats movements, the sail was just about unhinged, making the journey back to solid land that much closer. Wes truly didn't care about the sail or even the groups objective at this point, he simply wanted wanted off of the sail post. As fate would have it, the poorly-mannered weasel would have his way soon enough. Back on the ships deck, Kress was still being thrown around by the rocking. Kress felt as if he was going to pass out from dizziness and was willing to give just about anything to make it stop. Tumbling towards the back of the ship once more, Kress was surprised to see that he had actually stopped moving. Was it over? Had Kendra put a stop to it? Not exactly. Kress opened his eyes, seeing only five grungy looking pirates staring back at him. realizing his back was against the back wall of the ship, he was able to put together what had happened. The pirates must have been tumbling with Kress, meaning that when he finally hit a solid surface, so did they. Leting out a sigh, Kress unsheathed his sword, reading himself for battle. He wasn't looking forward to a battle without Wes once more, but he didn't seem to have a choice in the matter. Just as things were looking ugly, one of the pirates lost his footing, causing him to roll backwards straight into the sail post. Within seconds, Kress heard a familar scream on it's way to the deck, giving the boy a bit of hope. Pushing one of the pirates aside, Kress lunged towards his weasel, sliding a bit once he made contact with the ground. It wasn't what one would call a pretty catch, but at least Kress was able to catch the falling weasel. Standing up and placing Wes on his shoulder in one quick motion, Kress gave the pirates a bit of a sour look. "Nice work on the sail Wes, but I need you to do me another favor." He said in a playful tone. "Say no more Kressy, I've been dying to kick some pirate ass." The Weasel chimed in, using a similar tone to Kress's. (OOC: I'll take a page from your book and add some BGM) Before any of the pirate's could even make a move, Kress was on the attack. "Fire!" the boy shouted as he charged towards one of many pirates. While Kress was running towards the pirate, Wes crawled down to the boys fist, wrapping himself around it and ingniting himself with flames. Intead of attacking head on, Kress slid between the pirates legs, delivering a painful flaming punch between the foes legs. With that pirate certainly out of commision, Kress only had four more to deal with. "Weserang!" he said wasting no time from the previous attack. As soon as Wes channeled the wind energy through himself, Kress grabbed him and pelted the weasel towards his attackers. The attack flew along the ground like identical to a boomerang, sweeping the pirates feet and knocking them on their behinds. After knocking the pirates down, Wes returned to Kress's hand and was instanly place on the boy's shoulder. "Water!" Kress ordered, leaving his partner with a concerned look on his face. Getting the water element from Wes, Kress pointed the tip of his sword at the grounded pirates. "Water Sphere!". As the words of the spell left his mouth, a rather large sphere of water began to materialize at the tip of his blade, causing the pirates to have a look of dismay on their face. Simply flicking his wrist forwards, the mass of water was sent crashing down on the foes, knocking them out cold. After sheathing his sword, Kress and his weasel shared a smile along with a hi-five, Kress still in a bit of a shock over what had just happened. It always amazed the boy. He never understood why he and Wes could get along perfectly in battle, never even questioning each other, but simply couldn't be that productive in anything else they attempted. Turning his head back towards Kendra, Kress pointed up at the sail. "Alright, we got the sail down, now all we got to do is get this bad bo- bad girl to the docks." Walking towards the ships wheel, the boy suddenly stopped and turned his attention back to the girl "Oh and Kendra... Those were some nic- Y'know, good job. Keep that up and we'll have no problem taking down that fat captain.""Yeah, yeah. Kenny did a great job and blah, blag, blah. Why aren't we adressing the important issues here? How in the hell do you know this ship a freaking girl? are there some parts I haven't see-.""Just stop, I don't even wanna hear where you were going with that. Besides, I expalined earlier." He said, cutting Wes off and shaking shaking his head.

Once the boat was rocked to the max, even Kendra herself struggled a tad bit to find some sort of balance through the situation even being a bit dizzy through the experience. while her head spun slightly, she was prepared for this and simply sat cross-legged on the deck and lowered her head, letting the natural motion of the boat catch back up and taking deep breaths. She felt everything settle and she was fit and active for duty! Though, she would find a nice surprise upon getting back up and becoming more aware of her surroundings.
From the sounds of things, Kress had managed everything on his end, but was now experiencing trouble! Her instinct was to possibly try to help, though when she saw where he was and the position of the enemies, it was too late, but not for Kress! It seemed that once it started, there was barely any time before it was over! Silently, Kendra pumped her fist and cheered him on without any voice, but felt like her encouragement would somehow be felt in Kress. He took everyone out on his own. The boy surely wasn't to be underestimated.
Meanwhile, it was probably a good idea to meet back up now that they had full control of the situation. Seems they just had to sail it to the docks. "No problem!" She immediately replied, beginning to set a focus for helping push the boat back to shore. Well, maybe she should probably stay out of this one, since she has been using so much of her more powerful magic lately especially when she took on a huge crowd at once, she drained a lot of her internal mana quite fast. It would probably best to rest on the spell-casting for a while and let her energy build back up, else she would collapse from fatigue and be completely helpless in the self-defense department.
Though, her own train of thought would be quite easily de-railed by the sudden re-kindling of the conversation, specifically the boy giving her a really interesting compliment. She wasn't used to anyone besides her tutor complimenting her or even being nice, so instinctively she turned her head to the side in embarrassment. She felt like he really meant it to. She was so glad he said such nice things but she still wasn't used to having a friend, really. Despite all of this and really trying hard to muster up the courage to reciprocate the favor, a certain other familiar voice would bubble up and send the mood crashing down as usual.
Starting with a more dismissive and rushed compliment, the weasel would go on to wonder why Kress knew anything about the boat's gender which Kendra hadn't even really considered, but when Wes brought up the mere word of 'parts'... well the poor naive girl recoiled a bit into leaned-back wide-eyed gasp with one hand over her mouth, but with the other on her staff she couldn't very much do anything else. She was so shocked that the parts of a lady were brought up at all that she didn't catch a single thing the boy said next, and instead reacting by lifting her hand off her mouth and giving the boy an aggressive punch to the shoulder, but it probably wouldn't really hurt that much since it was executed quickly and haphazardly before the girl simply turned around and gave the boy her back, staring down at her toes in discomfort.
"That's... p-perverted..." She stammered out, after all of that.

"Hey, I didn't say it! Wes is the perverted one!" He yelped out as rubbed his shoulder. It didn't hurt Kress all that much, but boy did it surprise him. He could understand her being a bit uncomfortable with Wes's comment, he was a bit disturbed about it himself, but he couldn't help feeling a bit bamboozled. He hadn't even been the one to say the comment, yet he was recieving the punishment for it. Of course, Kress was too shy to ever speakout about anything that upset him so he'd just ingore it. That was Kress, Wes on the other hand... Well, he wasn't so docile. Shooting the girl a glare, Wes let out a small growl before going off on her. "Hey! You must think you're some sort of big shot, picking on a loser like Kress. Sure, he's a frail, insecure, strange little man-elf thingy, but I got news for you sister, you're not much better than him. Heck, you may even be worse than him. Oh, he's broken. Way to go Kenny, you broke him. Tell her Kress!"
"I'm fine. Just ingore him Kendra, he'll tire himself out eventually." the boy said with a sigh. "You see Kenny, he's fi-Fine?! Oh you're hopeless Kress. You're probably just one of those freaks who like to be hit." Responding with only a grunt, Kress turned his attention away from his weasel and back to the task at hand. There was still one major problem after all. Where was the captain? He and Kendra appeared to have clear the ship, but the glutton of a captain was still no where to be seen. A strange perdicament indeed. Kress doubted the man would simply runaway from him, especially after he seemed like he was so eager to beat the snot out of the boy earlier. To add to his problems, Kress was also a bit concerned about his friend who wasn't cover in fur. Kendra had already done so much, helping the dysfunctional duo take out the pirate grunts and their ships, it seemed a like a little much to ask her to help him take down the captain.
He'd have to talk to her about it. Of course, that'd be next to impossible with his trusty sidekick yapping like crazy on his shoulder. What he needed was a distraction, but that was easier said than done. To find a distraction for Wes, it meant one would have to think like the little critter, which was essentially thinking like a five year-old. Simple enough. Taking a look around the ship, Kress's eyes focused on the ships wheel giving the boy an idea. "Say Wes, how'd you like to steer the ship buddy. You know, just like we always wanted to as kids." As soon as the words were done leaving Kress's mouth, Wes's ears perked up. He had never hopped off of the boy's shoulder faster, leaving Kress with a smile on his face as his weasel scrurried towards the ships wheel.
Walking towards Kendra and standing at her side, Kress let out a sigh. "Don't worry, the controls are locked. Wes can steer like a mad-weasel all he wants and we'll be safe... Well, as safe as you can be on a pirate ship." The boy joked, cracking a smile only to lose it just as fast. "Hey, you know that you don't have to help us take down the captain, right? After we get to the docks and unload the stolen cargo, it's up to you whether you want to come with us or not. You've done plenty and I won't hold it against you if you don't want to go." He said, plopping down on a nearby crate while gently kicking another near Kendra. "After all, there's only so much time a person can spend with Wes before they go insane. In fact, I'm pretty sure I crashed here due to his nagging."
As he finished his sentence, Kress looked away from the girl and towards the ocean. Of course he would like for Kendra to join him in the task of confronting th captain, but really did feel like it was a bit unfair to ask her to do so. She hadn't even done anything to the pirates, Kress had just dragged her into it. She was probably on some sort of.. Well, he didn't really know what the girl was doing on this strange world. She didn't seem to live here, putting one of Kress's theorys to rest. Sucking up his fear, Kress decide to just ask his friend what she was doing here before he dragged her into his problems. "I've been meaning to ask Kendra, what exactly were you doing here? I mean before you took out that guy who was sneaking up on Wes and I. It seems a bit rude of me that I never asked."

Though the girl was already a bit taken aback from the situation, she couldn't help but stare in her own disappointment as Kress seemed to defend himself, but before he could really correct him to apply the blame equally to both of them Wes of course had to open his giant, rampaging Godzilla mouth and give the poor, shy girl one of the most uncomfortable lectures she's ever had to suffer through. She felt awkward enough with that already just happened, but now this?
Looking back down at her toes, she would almost let out a silent sob as Wes tried to drill it into her head that she was really mean to Kress for being a bit honest herself, and it wasn't even that bad, it was just a tiny little remark that wasn't supposed to mean too much, but of course this was getting blown far out of proportion now. The day would only be saved when Kress swooped in with the 'ignore him' secret attack. Kendra immediately looked up, a bit of hope restored to her eyes. Seems Wes wasn't the all-knowing, and now she was a tad bit upset that the weasel got her all worked up for absolutely nothing. Her faced twisted into something a bit more unhappy, leaning towards anger more so than sadness.
Oh, and here was the kicker - Wes the all-knowing strikes again with another insult. Seems Wes just loves to spread misery around didn't he? Unfortunately, the girl was still a bit dense as to his attitude, that this was how he unfortunately conducted himself and that the boy was far more used to it than Kendra would ever be. Oh, the nerve of him though, to make such remarks. It took a second for Kendra to formulate a sentence in her head, but she needed to defend her friend! She raised her first with her index finger pointed up and opened her mouth to speak, but was promptly interrupted again by the boy himself. This time, dismissing the weasel to be far away and out of the picture. Well played, Kress. The girl's face relaxed to something more natural looking and she lowered her hand, looking off to the side as her head was in the clouds about what to do next.
Honestly, that was probably the best course of action to prevent Kendra from making the situation even worse with whatever lame come back she may have had, making this conversation several notches less awkward. win for everyone! The girl couldn't help but sigh though. "...Smart thinking. I don't think I'll ever get used to him as well as you have, though." She said, commending him for his quick thinking of shoving him away and acting all natural despite being insulted up the wazoo (whatever a wazoo even was), not evening seeming the least bit tinged by the weasel's crude remarks.
Commendable was the word that summed up his bravery for dealing with that creature day in and day out, working as a team even and somehow performing valiantly as a duo. How that ever worked was beyond her, but it did, and she wouldn't question it. She wouldn't even question the temporary peace granted to them by Kress's brilliant strategizing, rather, was simply happy enough to enjoy it. Kress would continue what the important thing he actually had to say, however. This time, about the captain.
"Well..." She began, feeling a bit conflicted. The boy did want her to come along? This wasn't an illusion? The boy seemed keen on making sure she was comfortable with making a choice, but weighted his speech heavily toward the option of her leaving. However, that made a lot of sense once the boy brought up his partner once more, and all of a sudden she wasn't afraid of his intentions at all. He was scared just like she was, and it was honestly quite the miracle that she managed to figure it out so quick. However, being able to express that and make the connection... probably wouldn't be so eloquent as it seemed in her thoughts.
"He's a bit of a chore, sure, but... We've come this far. I'm not going to abandon you now, that's for sure!" She said, smiling bit. However, that wasn't the awkward part. "I know you uh... think I might not like or something but, er, I mean, because of Wes, and like... I just wanted to say it's fine. You're fine-- uh, I mean..." Apparently she was capable of speaking fine about general matters, but when it came ot saying something personal she simply broke down from feeling so embarrassed. she just couldn't. she closed her eyes and shook her head: she definitely looked like a total weirdo now.
The silence hung heavy, but Kress decided to go on, wondering about something that actually seemed like a pretty good question. Why was Kendra here in the first place anyway? Well, the water witch had literally been instructed to... oh gosh! That's right! She had to make a ton of new friends! Well, that wouldn't be precisely what the mission was but with all that she's accomplished today it was amazing she even remembered something resembling the original mission. Well, she only made one, maybe two at a stretch, but still! Hopefully the mentor didn't believe that she would actually accomplish such an impossible task... or just be happy she even made the friend she did. Maybe... Maybe Kendra could bring him back? No! That was too weird! Never never never!
"Oh uh... Haha, it's really kind of silly. You see..." She said, trying to think of a way to describe this that wouldn't totally embarrass her even further than how much she's humiliated herself already, but there was really no good way to put this in a way that satisfied the girl at all. So... since she wasn't really a fan of lying, it was time to really test the boy's faith. Was his friendship truly a waste of time? "I uh... was sent to find friends. Actually. I don't normally make friends..." She said, grabbing her arms behind her back and looking down and to the right, feeling super embarrassed about the whole thing. She wanted to just slink down into a hole, cover herself up and hide away forever from this whole thing.

(OOC: On a sidenote, this was my 100th post. Yaaay XD.)
Well, it may have not been the best formed sentence, but it was enough to ease the boys mind. Kendra wasn't going any where. As pathetic as it was, Kress had never heard anyone say they weren't going to just leave him after being around him as long as Kendra had and it was a real eye-widener for the boy. Heck, even his own partner (unfortunately his best and only friend,) had made threats to abandon the boy before. But, Kress knew it was a bit unfair to compare Kendra and Wes to each other, they were about as similar as a cow and a wolf. Well, maybe not a cow and a wolf, as he wouldn't feel justified in labeling Kendra or Wes as the cow. The boy could of sat there in thought for a lot longer than he was, but he was interrupted by the sound of his friends voice. That's right, he asked her a question! Oh gods, what exactly had he asked her?! He was still in a bit of shock from the girls answer when he had asked the damn thing. Hopefully, the idiot didn't screw up things too much.
Upon hearing Kendra's answer, Kress could only let out a sigh of relief and rest his hands on his hips. Based on what he read on other humans body language, it appeared the girl was feeling a little... Embarrassed? Was she serious?! Here he was, an awkward young man with a talking nuisance on his shoulder and she really thought Kress would somehow be able look down on her for not having friends?! Poppycock! "Well.... We appear to have something in common." He said with a slight chuckle, scratching the back of his head. "Besides Wes, you're the first friend I've ever made. With that little guy on shoulder, you don't get many chances to make friends with anyone, so I'm more than happy to call anyone a friend." He had to admit, being sent to a new world just to make friends.... That sounded like a pretty cool deal. If the boy wasn't already set on his goal to become a known hero, he'd most likely want to do whatever it was Kendra was doing.
Still, The boy may have slightly helped Kendra with her goal, but he still felt he owed it to his friend to help her meet her objective. After all, Kendra was helping him take down the pirate captain out of her own good will, Kress would be more than willing to help out his new friend in any way he could. That's what friendship was, wasn't it? Doing things for the benefit of the other person just to help them out. At least, that's what friendship meant in Kress's mind. Resting one of his hands on the girls shoulder, the boy gave her a gentle shake. "Tell you what, after we get this damn pirate situation out of the way, I'l help you out with your making friends situation, okay? Besides, how hard could it be? You already made two friends in an instant, you must have some secret way of making friends."
As soon as the boy finished his sentence, the massive ship took a sudden jerk to the right, causing Kress to land flat on his side on the hard wood floor of the boat. Of course, the boys first reaction was to shoot his partner a glare, but he quickly lost his glare and gained a shocked expression on his face. It would be impossible for Wes to have even caused the sudden motion of the ship, as Kress had locked the ships controls, what could this possibly be? Staggering to his feet, Kress peeped over the side of the ship, mortified to see a massive crater on the side of the ship. Kress's first assumption was that the ship must of snagged a rock, but something didn't really sit right with the boy. Were those.... Teeth marks? No it couldn't be. Even if something in the water had bit the boat, there's no way it would've been able to have that big of a bite. At least, any creature Kress could recall had no such bite.
As to be expected by this point, Wes couldn't just keep his his mouth shut and this was an opportunity the weasel couldn't resist. "Dammit Kenny! Why the hell are you using your freaking powers while I'm trying to drive? You jerkfa-."
"She's not using her powers, Wes." He interrupted.
"Dammit Kenny, your damn fat-ass self is sinkin-."
Before Wes could continue his petty insults, Kress yanked the weasel off of the ships wheel and held the little critter over the ledge of the ship. "There, you see, we hit something. It was no ones fault, okay?" He said while gently setting the weasel down on his shoulder. He sounded calm, but in his head, boy was he feeling the exact opposite. Scratching the back of his head, Kress wasn't quite sure what he and his band of friends could really do in this situation. With how large this ship was, time wasn't as much as an issue as it would normally be in a situation like this, but Kress could really only think of two options.
"Well... We could try to fix the hole in this thing, but there's really no guarantee of that working. The other option I could see working is if we just try and speed up towards the docks. Either way, this is kind of a bummer." Kress said with a bit of irritation in his voice. He really couldn't help it at this point. What was meant to be a pleasant ride back to docks was now turning into a frantic attempt to save the stolen cargo. Of course, there was a third unmentioned option: to just abandon the ship. There really was no point in mentioning it, as Kress was pretty sure Kendra or himself wouldn't have gone along with it. Wes might have, but he was easily the member of their group who had the least amount of concern for others. As the boy was thinking about which method would make the most sense, a familiar(also annoying) voice rang in his ears.
"Hey! Why doesn't Kendra just keep the freaking boat afloat? After all, it was her fatness that sunk us."
"Like seriously, have you ever had a sentence come out of your mouth that wasn't an insult?! Besides, if our magic is strained after the little bit of combat we were in, imagine how her magic is."
"Oh, whine, whine, whine! If you're so all-knowing, you two jackasses figure it out. If you need me, I'll be holding my damn breath on Kress's shoulder, waiting for the damn ship to sink!"

Something goes wrong, seems the weasel felt it necessary to immediately force something to shoulder to blame. Of course, not just anyone too: the one most likely unable to defend herself, the one most likely to simply avert her gaze and take the blame as if it were her destiny. Before this whole ship crashing ordeal, her eyes were starting to light up with an intense amount of butterflies scattering around her insides, as interacting with this boy was certainly... something else. They could be friends for a very long time she felt. With the whole weasel situation...
It would be tough. It was strange, at some moments she felt stronger than others, able to retaliate or handle his snarky remarks. She might have been getting used to them, but this one would definitely be a stab to her gut. It wasn't her fault, but the fact that she was constantly being hammered for everything still took its toll. Kress defended her however, and that's what would cause her to look up with a gaze full of hope. She looked at Kress, and wondered why he went through such great lengths to undo his partner's misgivings. Wouldn't it be easier, heck even be better for him overall just to go along with it? They had the ship, she helped them out of her own will.
No, it definitely wasn't about manipulating her. She only just met him today, but something told her she could trust this boy. Normally, a bond of this level of trust would take ages to develop with this particular girl, but something about Kress just seemed... okay to like. She desperately hoped he was worth trusting, anyway. Still a bit mindful of the situation, she remained silent as the two bickered a bit, until Kendra was brought back into the ring with another set of instructions. Apparently, it was up to her to keep them afloat.
Well, she did look over the side with Kress and saw the hole from herself, but it wasn't devastating. In fact, with a bit more concentration and devotion to the water, she might be able to reverse this situation until they at least get to shore. But, this whole aspect of trust would have to come back in... she couldn't be interrupted no matter what if she were to give this plan of hers a shot. Here came the ultimate test.
Truthfully, she had seen enough shows where similar situations like this occurs. The one person who has the plan is turned to, and the said protagonist turns and pats whomever depends on them most on the head and assures them of the upcoming victory. Well, she wouldn't have the guts to reach out and touch the intimidating creature that was Wes, so instead she shyly averted her eyes and cleared her throat to get their attention.
"Hey um. I'm fine, actually. I can get us to shore safely if I concentrate really hard, but there's a catch - if anything breaks my concentration, something bad could happen. So... just make sure nothing and nobody touches me or anything, okay?" she spoke, though rather softly with a bit of determination. "Please step back..." She said, taking her staff and bringing it in front of her, standing it straight up on the base of the pole. The end started glowing bright, to which Kendra let go of the staff where it stood up perfectly straight still. She closed her eyes and hunched forward a little bit, waving her arms slowly and gracefully like she was performing a strange dance with only her upper body.
After the staff began to glow a little bright, the ship rocked slightly before it stabilized completely and even accelerating slightly towards the shore. So long as nothing broke her concentration, water would be forced out of the massive hole that was in the ship and the sea would be molded to make a straight and efficient cruise back to land. This would take a lot of effort and strain, making her absurdly tired by the time they got back.
However, should any interruptions occur, the sea around them could erupt violently causing even more damage to the ship and possibly knocking them off-course, not to mention set the poor girl in a daze so strong she possibly wouldn't be able to stand up for a while.

Well, things seemed to be working out.... Okay. That was a refreshing change of pace. What was once a decently-sized setback was appearing not to be as big of a deal. Shoot, after Kendra said she'd be able to keep the boat afloat long enough to make it to shore, there really was no trouble that could keep Kress and his allies from reaching the docks safely. The only thing the boy could see happening would be his weasel bothering Kendra while she was keeping the boat afloat, but even that would be avoidable by simply keeping his eye on the rascal. Carefully sitting down on the crate he was sitting on before, Kress peered over the side of the boat, his eyes locked on the strange gaping hole near the bottom of it. Although Kendra assured she could get the boat to the docks with little problem, he was still concerned with the mere fact that the boat was punctured.
It did strike him as a bit odd a ship with so much girth and stability would take as much damage as it did from a snagged rock, leading him back to his teeth theory, but even that one seemed a little far-fetched to him. Still, it's not like it mattered much at this moment. The three of them would be at the docks soon, returning the stolen cargo then attempting to find the pirate, assuming he hadn't fled from the area. The boy could only chuckle at the thought of a big bulky pirate captain running away from two young people and a weasel, but at least they wouldn't have to see him again if he had fled. Being lost in his thoughts, Kress didn't even notice his weasel crawl off his shoulder, causing the boy to immediately spring up and dart his eyes around for the pest. Normally, Wes going off on his own wouldn't be too alarming to the boy, but with Kendra in the "Do not disturb," state she was in, it was more than a little alarming. Considering Wes' rude nature, it seemed like even more of a problem.
Looking over towards Kendra, Kress could only shake his head at what he saw. Only a few feet behind Kendra, Wes appeared to be attempting to sneak up on her. He couldn't be that dumb, could he? The boy was in a state of disbelief. He knew his partner was a little hard-headed, rude and even a bit of an idiot, but this... This was a whole new kind of stupid for the little guy. Aiming his wristband at the the weasel, Kress shot out his grappling hook, wrapping it around the weasel's body and pulled over to him in a quick, but quiet motion. "Are you freaking kidding me Wes? Were we not told to not bother her?! Y'know, the thing you were about to do!" After scorning his partner, Kress flicked his weasel on the nose and sat him on his shoulder. "Ow! Oh, like something catastrophic would actually happen! Besides, I wasn't going to touch the water-head any way, I was just trying to sneak past her to the front of the ship. I thought that maybe it's more exciting up there, I'm bored outta my mind."
Shaking his head and plopping back down onto his crate, Kress once again continued to stare down in the water, trying to make the best of this nerve-racking ride. After a few more minutes of boat travel, (though, it much more like hours to a certain weasel) the docks were in very close range. Standing up from his crate, Kress headed back towards the ships wheels and controls. He figured once Kendra was able to get the ship to the docks, he may as well be ready to drop the anchor and shut down the ship. As the boy and his weasel walked up to the ships controls on the, they saw something a bit unsettling. A few meters behind the boat, Kress could barely make out what appeared to be a massive black fin jutting out water, leaving the boy in a state of disbelief. He had thought the boats damage looked slightly like teeth marks, but he was thinking more along the lines of a common shark. This, however, was not like anything he had in mind. Looking at Wes in with widened eyes, Kress could only hope he was crazy and this massive shark wasn't near their boat.
"Alright, either something funky was in that chili-cheese dog, or that really just is a big freaking shark. Honestly, I think I want it to be the former.
"Speak for yourself elf-ears, I don't wanna be any where near you if you got some bad chili in you. Besides, I can see that thing too. Ugh, Gods, I'm getting really sick of all this. We should of never left our damn world and you wanna know why? This! Just for this alone, Kress. Other worlds have giant freaking sharks, is that not enough for you?!"
"Yeah, but back home we have scarier creatures, like you Wes" Shedding a bit of a smirk, Kress turned his back on the massive sea creature, focusing on the manner at hand. As weird as it seemed, the shark seemed to be heading towards the boat at a leisurely pace, despite being able to make a dent in the ship and swim away before Kress could look over the edge earlier. It seemed a little... Odd. Why was this creature acting as if it had someone else pulling the strings? Something was definitely off, but Kress wouldn't have time to analyze the situation before the boat would arrive at the dock. Well, granted they made it to the dock without being eaten alive by a giant shark, but that seemed unlikely. At least, he could only hope getting eaten alive by a giant shark was unlikely. It was on his planet, but the statistics seemed to be a bit different here.
"Hey, should we,uh... Y'know-."
"I'm pretty sure telling Kendra 'hey, there's a giant shark chasing us, but just stay concentrated on the boat,' qualifies as distracting her.
"I suppose we wouldn't wanna risk it... Bad enough I'd be sinking with you and Kenken, I might end getting digested by a giant shark with you losers. Geez, it'd really suck if the last thing I saw before I died were you and Kenken... Nightmarish even."

Despite her intense focus, Kendra could technically hear everything going on around her, she just couldn't really give it much thought. She had a task to do, her mind encompassing the entirety of the water around the boat. She felt the sea as one with her, dictating a telekinetic force that moved it around the boat such that nothing seeped into the hole and that the water around them coursed in favor of moving toward the docks.
There was a substantial amount of stress involved on her mind, thus the side conversations between Kress and Wes would have to be ignored for the most part. She heard something about Wes being crazy, maybe wanting to get a better look, but would instantly pay it no mind and continuing to harbor the burden of this rather massive ship. She was performing fairly well, until a fuzzy bit of dialogue managed to hit her ears just right.
A giant shark was chasing them!? She didn't want to get attacked by a shark! To which, that slight glitch in her concentration caused to lose mind of the starboard side of the ship, the water suddenly jutting at high speed and slamming the side of the ship and making it tip slightly. This slam would also cause them to lose a great deal of momentum, the water no longer flowing in a directive matter beneficial toward the ship's motion back to the dock. Now that the equilibrium was thrown heavily off balance, Kendra couldn't reorient the flow of water and everything went completely out of control.
This caused the girl to shriek in terror as several waves rose up and rocked the boat every which way before she and her staff fell over and laid helplessly on the ground with very labored breathing. "Help..." she cried weakly, unsure of what exactly she should do. Being incredibly disoriented, Kendra couldn't help but be confused about where she was or what was going on. Her temporary amnesia would only last a few seconds before she managed to remember why she lost control in the first place: the mention of a giant shark. Well, the dynamic duo would have to be on their own for a little while now while the girl barely clung to consciousness.
"Water... Please get me water..." She would manage to say. Above all the chaos, the one thing Kendra was the most was thirsty. Which... might've been a bit strange, considering the situation, but it would be very vital to her survival to obtain some fresh drinking water.

(OOC: I would've been surprised if SOMEONE didn't spoil the post lol. I'm not pointing fingers here, but I totally am. Also, if you feel the need to do a time skip, go right ahead.)
What in the what had just happened? Before Kress could even register what was happening, he and weasel companion were thrown off their feet from the massive swift in moment. Well, Kress' feet at least, as Wes rarely ever stood off of the boy's shoulder. Landing flat on his face, Kress could only hear his friend shriek out in what he would assume to be pain as the boat's rocking continued, barely even able to lift his head up to see her. The frail boy would try to get himself up several times, only to be thrown back down by the ships rapid movement once more. Frustration was the only word that could truly sum up what Kress was feeling at the moment. Not fear, he wasn't worried, he was just truly frustrated that he didn't even have the strength to get himself up to aid his friend when she seemed to need it. Fortunately for Kendra, Kress wasn't a quitter. Unsheathing his sword and using it a a foundation, Kress was able to pull himself up on his feet at a sluggish pace.
Looking at his recently made friend laying on the ground, Kress' frustration transitioned into worry. Being in his foolish state of panic, the boy would only assume the worst about the girl, but luckily Kendra would spurt out some words, snapping Kress back into the moment. So far, things weren't looking too good for the ship or it's inhabitants. The ship was now stationary and rocking rapidly, a massive shark was speeding towards the boat and there was still a massive hole in the boat. To top it all off, Kendra seemed to be in a weakened and in need of water, meaning he would have to help in some way. As silly as it was, he had trouble thinking of a way to get fresh water, but then the obvious answer hit him. "Wes, give me some water!" Although Wes would usually comply wit his partners orders when it came to element decisions, but he flet that Kress was over looking something.
"Normally, I shut my trap when you're doing your whole 'look at me, I'm smart in battle,' thing, but I think you might be over looking something here Kressy. If I give you water for KenKen, you'll be stuck with water... Which, you know, isn't exactly what I'd call an effective element to use against a shark." Kress did have to hand it to the weasel, despite his annoying tendencies, he brought up a decent point. If Kress was to give Kendra the water she needed, the shark would be even harder to defeat being stuck with water bullets. Still, Kress couldn't leave his friend in her current state, especially with the fact that he was the one who put her in this state to begin with. "We'll cross that bridge when we get there, just give me my damn water!" With a bit of a scowl, Wes supplied Kress with the water, turning the weasel a light blue hue.
Grabbing a empty steel wine goblet that was on the floor of the pirate ship, Kress went to work. Shooting a singular water shot into the goblet, Kress swished it around the cup in some sort of attempt to clean the filthy cup. He understood this was a rather urgent situation, but considering how filthy the pirates appeared, he knew Kendra would be thanking him later. After using his makeshift dish cleaning idea, he decided to go on with his actual plan. Filling the cup to the brim with Wes' fresh water, He began to wobble over to the girl, trying his darnedest not to spill a drop of it. Of course, this was a bit of a hopeless feat, as the boats rocking would make it seemingly impossible to get there without spilling a little bit of the water. After a couple of seconds of his awkward power-wobbling, Kress reached Kendra, instantly kneeling besides her.
"I got some water, don't worry. It's fresh from Wes, so it's totally safe to drink." The boy could only give his friend a half-smile before realizing what he said. "Well, not like fresh from Wes... Like, you know, fresh from his magic.... I, j-just take it." He would some how manage to mutter out before extending out his arm with the beverage to the girl.
The weasel could only sigh and shake his head. "Kress.... The chick can barely even breathe.... Do you really think she'll be able to not only hold that thing in her hand, but drink the damn thing?!" Turning a bright red, Kress could only slap his hand over his face. It was really a sad day for the boy when Wes was making more sense than he was. Unfortunately, this would only lead to something that Kress did not need more of, awkwardness. He could only take a deep breath before he would even think of attempting his next move. Placing his free hand on the back of Kendra's head, Kress tilted her head up before he would bring the goblet towards his friends mouth. The poor guy couldn't even look at the girl, shutting his eyes as he tilted the cup upwards, allowing the water to pour down his friends throat. With the remains of the cup gone, Kress decided that it'd be better if Kendra was at least off the floor.
Looking a little bit behind Kendra, Kress could see the on of the crates he had been sitting on earlier, giving him an idea. Propping the girl up with his own body weight, the scrawny boy shuffled towards the crates, setting Kendra down when he reached them. Sitting her upright against one, Kress once again produced a goblet-full of water from his pistols, this time setting it down against the same crate as Kendra.
"Just rest here until you have enough energy, Wes and I will see what we can do for the ship and that... thing tailing us. You just keep your energy up. I you need more water, just holler for us." Although Kress sounded pretty confident in his words, the boy's mind was a different story. How long will she be like this? How the hell can I repair a freaking ship? I can stop a giant shark... With water? Those were just a few of the questions Kress was asking himself in his mind. Standing up straight, Kress once again had to hobble across the not-so-sturdy ship, leaving him a little dizzy.
Reaching the back of the ship once more, Kress handed his weasel a telescope, pointing out towards the sea. He figured it'd be nice to know how close the shark actually was and use it as a measure of how much time the duo actually had, but Wes was pretty certain his partner wanted to know what he saw. Heck, Wes himself wasn't happy with the sight, but knew he'd be in more trouble if he didn't speak up.
"Any sight of that thing, Wes?"
"Well, let me put it this way... The shark's swimming circles about a yard or two back, but I have a feeling he'll be coming in soon."
"Why is that? Are you just basing this off of nothing?!"
"Remember 'Blubber-gut?' Yeah, he apparently also has a animal for a partner..."
Snatching the telescope from Wes' hands, Kress quickly looked in it, confirming the unsettling sight. As it turned out, Blubber-gut hadn't mysteriously vanished at all, instead he had been with his freakish pet, riding a top it. Looking at his Weasel with a bit of uncertainty, Kress placed the weasel on the ground. "Alright Wes, I got a plan, but we gotta move fast if it even has a snowballs chance in hell of working. We're gonna have to split up. One of stays on deck, watching that fat bastard's moves, tending to Kendra and collecting some wood from the ship that's not used as foundation-."
"Annnnd the other?"
"I was getting to that! The other goes inside the ship, dismantling as much furniture as possible. Once we have enough, I use my tools to nail them together, then we use that mass of wood to plug up the ships hole."
"Okay, so I'm guessing I'm the one who has to stay on the deck and watch KenKen?" Before Kress could even open his mouth, Wes simply held up his paw and shook his head. "Please, for the love of the Gods, spare me. Your gonna give me that whole 'well Wes,I'd love to swap places, but blah blah blah.' Just save it and get your pointy-eared ass inside the ship!" With a bit of a surprised look, Kress handed the weasel one of his pistol and patted him on his head before making his way downstairs.
With his partner gone, Wes would shake scurry over to Kendra, shedding a devious smile. "Y'know KenKen, when Kress said 'watch that fat bastard's moves,' I'm not sure if he was referring to old blubber-gut or you." After laughing for a few seconds at his bad and expected joke, Wes patted the girls foot. "But really KenKen, if you need me, just holler. I'll just be around the deck collecting some wood.... I really don't like the sound of that.." With that, the weasel left the girl alone, hoping that this wouldn't be he and Kress' first and last adventure.

[OOC: Some starting BGMTo weak to really acknowledge everything going on around her, she was only concerned with getting what she knew she needed. The other two seemed to argue slightly but she couldn't tell over what. Everything seemed a bit foggy. Kress left her again to retrieve the cup and rinse it out, coming back with a bit of water. Seeing the substance got her excited, presented her with a little more alertness, and opened her eyes a little further. She sat up more straight as well. While she could barely move for the first couple sips, it slowly restored her strength to greater degrees of functionality. By the end of the first serving she was about able focus all of her energy to her arms in order to lift them and guide the goblet to tilt further, guzzling what was left instantly and dropped her arms again, looking back up at Kress with desperate, hungry eyes. "More," she said, a certain primitive tone in her voice. Kress would fill the second cup and gently hold it out to her but she would muster up whatever energy she gained and lashed her arms out, snatching the cup and seemingly pouring it into her face. Kress was just too slow, but it wasn't his fault, he didn't know how this worked. She's used to... well, something much bigger that distributes water at home, but they had to improvise. With this system, it would simply take longer, but it would get the job done. Speaking of getting the job done, like a champ, Kendra guzzled the entire goblet in about four gulps without spilling a drop, holding the goblet back out. "More." a little color restored to her skin, and her eyes seemed begin to shine, only if slightly. Kress would simply have to oblige, filling it a third time and handing it over to Kendra. She downed it in a similar fashion; demolishing the supply. "More."A little feeling was returning into her voice, she was definitely becoming more conscious, but she couldn't bear to waste any energy than coming up with a more creative way to request additional cups of water. The process would actually repeat itself about twenty times before both Kendra thought she could be satisfied enough and Kress would get nervous about the ship sinking and the shark approaching. To which, he left an extra cup full at her side and went to plan the next course of action with his furry friend. She looked down, resting a bit and taking deep breaths and trying to find her center. Stabilizing the chaos that was his disrupted mind and out-of-control mana energy that flowed within her. She had to channel that gratuitous amount of water she inhaled properly to restore her focus, and once the tides of internal beach smoothed out to gentle, steady waves, she would be able to fight again. It would take some time though. Continuing her labored breathing, she opened her eyes to the sight of a familiar weasel. Despite thinking he hated her, she was glad someone was by her side right now. Maybe the little guy wasn't totally heartless, that he could be useful for crucial moments despite his harsh and abrasive demeanor. Speaking of which, he thought it was okay just because Kendra was down for the count to make another fat joke which she didn't appreciate (oh but he was so funny to himself), but then stated that he was there for her. She was a bit confused, did he mean that? Kendra looked down to the full goblet. She figured she could use some more. Of course she downed this serving just like any other, at an inhuman speed without spilling a single drop (which you'd think would be not physically possible but at this point why bother wondering), then set it down in front of her and decided to call out. "Wes! Just... one more glass, please!?" She called out. After whatever snarky comments she'd have to endure, eventually Wes would top her off for what she hoped would be the final time by now. She drank this one a little slower, taking seven gulps now instead of four, letting out a huge breath of satisfaction, then looking at Wes. "What? You look like you've never seen a girl chug five gallons of water before," she said, with a bit of a smile. The sarcasm made her a bit nervous as to how she would react, but she was definitely starting to get over her shyness. With that, she actually stood up! That miracle wouldn't last for long though when she almost toppled over again within the next second, refusing to ease up. Steadying herself once more, she felt like she was stable. She took slow, weak steps to the back of the boat to try to see what was going on, and what Wes had been looking at this whole time. "Well... I can't fight yet, but I imagine within a few minutes, my magic will start naturally restoring." She was telling the truth, though she feared the worst, like being called 'useless' or something from Wes. Maybe just this one things wouldn't be so bad.

With the wonderful duo split, it seemed like Kendra and her not-so-favorite weasel would have some quality bonding time. Fantastic. Of course, Kress took this into consideration, trying to spend the least amount of time he possible could away from his two friends. There was the more obvious threat of Blubber-Gut and his massive pet attacking their wounded ship, but Kress was honestly more worried about Wes and Kendra getting along with each other without sinking the ship itself. Back on the deck with the previously mentioned two, things were definitely better than any thing Kress would have expected, but still a bit of a mess. Unfortunately for Kendra, when the girl had called for the weasel, he had his hands full... Literally. Doing just as he and Kress had planned, Wes was doing his best to gather up as much non-important-to-the-ship wood he could find, but here was Kendra, interrupting him when he was actually doing something. Brilliant.
Scurrying over towards the girl, Wes was met with a rather nice surprise, Kendra actually being sarcastic towards the small critter. He had no idea why, but he felt like a proud parent of some sort, as if he had finally drove this girl to finally get smart with him. Of course, these thoughts would never leave the weasel's tiny brain, meaning only the usual barrage of insults would be locked and loaded. But, The girl would shock the weasel once more, attempting to stand up and succeeding in the attempt. Well, kind of, as she didn't exactly look what Wes would call graceful, seeming more like a drunk zombie if Wes were to compare her to anything. No matter, this wasn't the point of his returning to the girl, she had asked for water and Wes wouldn't want to leave her thirsty. Not really for the typical reasons such as care or genuine good will, more along the lines of not wanting to hear the earful Kress would give him if he didn't.
Dragging the massive cup over to the girl and tugging on her pant leg, Wes began to fill the cup, shaking his head a bit. "Man, being sarcastic and getting up prematurely? Weakened KenKen is such an idiot it makes me miss the normal KenKen a bit." leaving the goblet at the girls feet, Wes stopped dead in his tracks at the mention of the girl being ready to fight. "Are you freaking nuts, KenKen? We're not fighting that fat menace at sea when he has that massive fish with him. We gotta bait him to the shores, then the three of us can take him there. Y'know, for someone Kressy sees as smart as he is, you really are acting stupid You may need two more cups of water before you're back to normal." With that, the weasel put all of the wood he had collected into a small pile, then returned to the girl, to join her in looking at the massive shark off in the distance.
What would only be a few minutes would feel like an eternity with how awkward the wait for Kress to return to the ships deck with his acquired scrap-wood. Wes had never really thought about it before, but he had never been in a social situation without his nerdy partner and found himself at a loss about what to say. No insults, no snarky remarks, there was only silence from the little rascal. Well, except for when the elf-eared boy would emerge from the ship, his arms full of lumber. "Oh thank the gods." the weasel would mutter out before running up to Kress and following him to the pile of the wood the duo had created.
"Hey Wes, could you sort out this pile to make it into a big enough board to cover the hole in the ship? I'll come back once your done and-." Without hesitation, the weasel sprang up and ran to the pile, begging to sort the pile as the boy had asked. Kress would only scratch the back of his head, wondering what in the world had gotten in to his once uncooperative partner. Unfortunately, this was no change in heart for the rude weasel, but in fact just away for him to escape the awkward moment he was having with the water mage. Perhaps it was better for Kress to keep thinking it was the former. A sight that was equally surprising to see besides Wes being helpful was Kendra already standing up straight. It was really hard for Kress to accept that after all the pain she seemed to be in, water was the thing that make his friend seem to be just fine.
It was just the fact that it seemed to go against all reason. The more he thought about, the more angry he got over the fact that he had never read anything like it in any book. Was this a feature unique to Kendra? Or perhaps her entire world has others with similar features? These questions would be bugging the boy deeply, but he felt that those questions weren't the best choice of things to say to Kendra as soon as she seemed to be getting her strength back. Walking up to the girl, Kress leaned forward on the railing to her right. "Well, You seem to have made a speedy recovery. Especially after being completely immobile over there just a few minutes ago. How are you holding up?" Thinking his sentence was done, the boy started to wait for a reply from the girl, then instantly slapped his over his face. "Oh, and you know, sorry for blowing it and screwing you up back there. I had a bit of a Wes moment there, didn't I?" The boy would say, shaking his head in embarrassment. He would only assume to have angered the girl with his last idiotic stunt.

For once, one of the weasel's smart remarks made the girl giggle a little bit, but her weakened body couldn't really handle the sudden burst of energy used to laugh a little bit and put her into a small coughing fit as she gasped for air slightly. While she was able to stand, she was about as stable as a bowl of pudding. She had to lean on things, like her staff, in order to remain upright although she felt like standing would force her to wake up faster. Well, Wes wouldn't know any of that nor would he probably care, but she knew her limits. She only had the wind knocked out of her, it wasn't like she was gravely wounded.
"I'm fine, Wes. It was a projective statement... I won't be balanced or fit for probably twenty or thirty minutes, which I guess makes it silly I said anything at all... Sorry..." she said, realizing that wanting to try to be optimistic wasn't always the best idea. She seemed to slink back down into her shell a bit more, remaining completely silent, only letting the sounds of the waves carrying the conversation between her and the weasel, who didn't seem too keen on talking either. The girl figured he was probably frustrated with her and wouldn't give her the time of day for making such a dumb statement. Seems she couldn't overcome her shyness completely after, still making toxic assumptions to herself.
All in the meanwhile, she was focusing on restoring her inner balance, getting her inner tides to calm down and wait for her magical essence to return, something she could judge by a certain internal sensation similar to a pick-me-up. The mass consumption of water was never an instantaneous effect, but sped the process up to incredible levels. Technically, she could just keep drinking water and never stop, but there came a point where there was no additional benefit to be gained. She's had an optimal amount, so just standing in silence was probably for the best anyway.
Having been so focused in her own subconscious, she was awfully surprised when Kress came back and started giving orders again, causing the girl to snap her head back and look at the boy, then realizing that such a sudden motion was a terrible idea causing a monster headache for a few moments. "Oww..." she muttered to herself, holding her head with one hand and her staff with the other. It would fade quickly enough, but for a moment it was the worst thing ever. Once it was mostly over, Kendra dropped her arm and sighed in relief. It was about this time Kress came back up to her and complimented her recovery, asking how she was, quickly apologizing for the situation as well. Oh, Kress, the girl thought.
"I'm fine, just a bit weak, but I'm getting there. I'm hoping forcing myself to stand will make the process work quicker. It's not like I was fatally injured though, I was bound to be able to get right back up, it just was a bit... disorienting at first," she said. She scratched the back of her head with her free hand as an awkward nervous twitch. "Oh, and don't worry about this... It was probably too dangerous to try and do in the first place, but I really wanted to help..." she said, her voice trailing off, feeling more guilty than ever. This was more her fault than anybody else's, really, or so she believed.

Kress would feel slightly better with his friend telling him not to feel sorry for the situation, but the feeling of relief was quickly overshadowing by annoyance. Even after the girl risked so much just to keep the ship up, she'd begin to blame herself for even trying. Kress would only shake his head and smile to himself. The boy would kill to have so much control over any one of his elements, yet Kendra seemed to think so little of her abilities. It really was odd to the boy. "Seriously Kendra? You're sorry for trying to help us get this thing to the docks? That's ridiculous. You did a lot more than me or Wes could have even tried to do, and even if the plan did fail, so what? I'd rather have a teammate that tries to be useful than one that wouldn't even attempt to be helpful. Believe me, I already have one for that." Finishing the sentence, Kress would lower his eayes and glance over at his bothersome partner.
Kress would continue to stare at his weasel, seeing that Wes was almost finished with the task he had agreed to do. Oddly enough, the whole ordeal with Blubber-gut returning with a massive shark seemed to be going well enough, especially when considering how easily the pirate could sink the trio's ship. Really, the only theory Kress had about the pirate not attacking was the fact that he possibly didn't want to harm his ship, but even that had a bit of suspcion around it, as Blubber-gut was the one who had caused the ship to be sinking in the first place. For what Kress considered a dumb pirate, the captains mind games would suggest otherwise.
A rather familiar, yet annoying voice would break the boy's silence, as his little partner would call out for him. Hey Kressy, I think this stupid plan of yours might just work, this pile looks like it could easily fill the hole in the ship!" Before leaving to assist Wes, Kress would turn to the girl and hand her a brass cup he had found inside the ship. "While I was gathering wood, I noticed the pirates have a fresh water supply downstairs in a jug. If you need any more water, I don't think they would mind if you had some. Besides, the cups of water down there seem to be insult-free, so there's always that. Smiling at the girl, Kress would hurry towards Wes. Even after handling the her need of water earlier rather well, Kress couldn't help but feel a bit foolish. After all, he hadn't have even thought of checking the ship before requesting his partner for water, and he could really see that decision coming back to bite him once they would be in combat with the pirate captain. No matter, Kress wouldn't try to think about the hasty decision too much, as he need to focus on patching the ship up for the time being.
Kneeling down next to Wes and reaching inside the tool bag on his weasel's back, Kress went to work. Although he was no stranger to creating things on the fly, the boy always felt a bit unsure when working with materials that weren't some type of metal. It wasn't necessarily his fault, as wood was a material that was scarcely used on his world, so this was almost a completely new type of craft on his part. Being such a bookworm, Kress had read up on how other worlds used wood, but would only see it a odd. Why would other worlds choose such an easily breakable material? The design of such structures just struck the boy as idiotic design, but it wasn't his place to say. Besides, it's not like telling the wood it was a useless material would do any good, so Kress could only do his best to make this work for him. After a few minutes of tinkering, Kress had succeeded in making some sort of patch to cover the boats massive crater, but that left the more difficult problem, how was he gonna get it over the hole?
Once again, Kress would feel more like Wes than himself, as this had been the second time he had not thought things through completely. To be fair, it had been a long day and it's not exactly easy to account for a giant shark when making plans like this, but he'd still feel responsible in a way. It seemed hopeless for a second, but then the boy had a brilliant idea. Wasting no time, Kress reached into his bag, pulling out a second wristband that was identical to the one he was wearing and slipping it on his left wrist. Shooting both of the grappling hooks into the slab of wood, Kress dragged it over to the side of the boat, chucking over the railing and allowing it to dangle until he was able to position it over the boats puncture. Now for the really difficult part of his plan, getting Wes to assist him. "Hey... Um, Wes? Unless you want us to sink and get eaten by that thing, I'm gonna need you to do something for the team..." Before Kress could even explain what it was, the weasel already knew. After all, they could read each other's thoughts, so why wouldn't Wes know?
Crossing his arms and turning his head away from his partner, Wes let out a grumble."No, I'm not doing it. You got some nerve, you know that? First, you ask me to sort the damn pile of wood, now you're asking to nail that thing in there?! Oh, You're really stupid if you think I'm going down there." Looking a bit aggravated and also struggling to even hold the makeshift ship repair where it was, Kress was out of patience, making him resort to drastic and lower than low measures. "Dammit Wes! If you don't do this, I'm gonna tell Kendra y-." Being interrupted by the weasel's paws closing his mouth, Kress would have a bit of a smile on his face, knowing he had got his way.
Without another word, Wes would dig through the tool back on on his back, pull out a nail gun from and shoot Kress a glare. He didn't say anything to the boy, but Kress knew what the glare meant. It wasn't one of Wes' normal glares, no, this one felt even more cold. Kress would feel bad for slightly betraying his partners trust, but he couldn't worry about that at the moment. Placing the nail gun in his mouth and sliding down the grappling hook wire, Wes went to repair the ship as fast as his stubby paws could. Slowly but surely, Wes would begin to nail the ships new patch over the hole, but with every second the weasel would spend at the bottom of the boat, Kress would only get more nervous.
Looking over towards the back of the boat, Kress' eyes would see a alarming sight. Even with their quick movement, it seemed they weren't quick enough. Seeing the duo attempting to fix the ship from a far must have been a sign for the fat pirate captain to attack, as the shark that was once a yard a two away was now speeding closer and close to the boat with every second. Kress was at a loss, feeling completely unsure of what to do to get out of this one. Though, with the shark speeding toward the boat, Kress really couldn't see what they had to lose, considering they were already up shit's creek without a paddle. "Kendra! Try and get the boat moving! Wes and I will try to hold the slab here, Do whatever you can with the ships controls!" As the boy called out, his voice would seem to be cracking in and out, as if he were extremely nervous. Obviously, he was feeling pretty unsure about this back-up of the back-up plan, but unlike the other times things went wrong, Kress wasn't hiding his nervousness. Hopefully, that wouldn't affect the girl too much, as Kress had faith in her that she'd be able to work the ships controls.

Even though Kress was right about the fact that she was trying to help, he seemed to gloss over just how much danger she put herself in. She was completely helpless right now, despite being able to move and talk and stuff like that, she wouldn't have the ability to cast a single spell for a little while. "Yeah, but--" she tried to say after Kress reassured her that she had nothing to really be sorry for. It was too much to explain, she would just have to suffer this fault in silence.
Meanwhile, the two went back to work and Kendra continued leaning on the edge of the boat, focusing on getting her own essence to return, keeping an eye on things as best as she could. She wasn't really paying attention, distracted by how weak she felt and much her emotions regarding the issue they were all in. She never should've tried what she did back there, because now they were even more stuck. Would they have had much of a chance before? It was truly hard to tell. Everything was a blur, and the girl's head was starting to hurt as a result of all this stress. Was there still hope?
She was so far distracted in her own thoughts while the two went out of their way to continue fixing things as she just stood there that she barely registered her own name being said. "Huh, wha--" she spurted out, turning her head to Kress and taking a moment to process the sound bit that reached her, eventually realizing exactly what he said. Apparently there was some sort of secret involving Wes and herself. This... horrified her to a lesser degree, as she believed it would be the confirmation of her fears that she was truly disliked, just as everyone else in her past has. Especially with someone that rants on her as much as he does.
The thing is, Wes's reaction to the threat was rather abnormal for what she expected. There was obviously something more going on here. Wes departed and went to do exactly as Kress instructed without questioning his orders any further. "...Tell me, what, exactly?" she asked, deciding to open Pandora's box. Unfortunately, panic would strike the crew as something more urgent to their already dire situation decided to rear its ugly head. Before anyone could really react to the change in game plan, Kress decided to keep everything going by giving another worthwhile command, only there was one problem.
Kendra looked over to the ships controls, just became confused within seconds and decided to close her eyes and attempt to control the water again instead. Except, every time she began to instantiate her focus, it would get lost in a haze before it ever had a chance to truly form. This happened several times. It seemed her magic was still inoperable and recovering, rendering her utterly useless. The girl slunk down to her knees, and in the midst of all the stress, finally broke down into soft tears. "I can't... I can't do anything..." she muttered between sobs. Things were looking pretty grim.

(OOC: The ball was dropped so hard it ended up plummeting to the center of the earth. My apologies)
Glancing over at Kendra, Kress would frown a bit, seeing that he had upset the girl with his request for her to try to get the ship. Great, not only did he have to worry about the massive shark darting towards the ship, now Kress was going to have to make sure Kendra wasn't too upset about her inability to help. After all, asking her to try and navigate the ship using it's controls on such short notice was probably quite alarming to the girl. Kress knew the girl was smart, but she seemed less mechanically smart than he was. Of course, that wasn't saying he was smarter than him, as she seemed to have a great deal of knowledge of strategy and the like from what Kress could pick up through his conversations with her, so this was just a matter of Kress simply assuming she was also pretty mechanically knowledgeable. To be fair, with how much the two had in common, it wouldn't be too far-fetched for them to share yet another thing in common.
Though, Kress was far more concerned with finding a solution to this whole shark situation than he was with reassuring Kendra it wasn't her fault. He'd have plenty of time to do that if he wasn't gonna be munched up by a shark carrying a fat pirate on it's back. Stopping for a quick second, Kress would finally take in the fact that he very well could die by the image he had just thought of. He wasn't one to ever really think about how his life could end, but he sure as hell would have never guessed being eaten by what was tailing them as a possible death. Hopefully, it wouldn't even come to that. Snapping into action, Kress would unfasten the wristband on his right wrist, quickly refastening it to the railing of the ship, then looked over the ledge to make sure the position of the mass of wood his partner was standing on hadn't moved. After confirming that he could switch the weight of the makeshift patch to the railing without it dropping Wes into the cold water, Kress would quickly do the same for the wristband on his left wrist, fastening it to the railing and looking down towards his partner once more.
"Wes, as soon as you bolt that thing down, get your furry ass back up here!" With this being the millionth time something that the trio had a plan fall apart on them, Kress was begging to feel a little fed up. As soon as Kress even muttered the word 'ass', it would cause the weasel to not even spit out one of his usual retorts. Even a word as commonly used as 'ass' was a big jump for the elf-eared boy, as he normally tried to stray away from swearing all together, the slip let Wes know Kress meant business. Pushing off of the railing and sprinting towards the ship's wheel, Kress would slip between Kendra and the wheel of the ship, grabbing hold of the controls and turning back towards the girl with an awkward smile. As much as he wanted to give her a reassuring statement, he figured she would rather not be eaten by a shark than hear the awkward young man stutter through one of them.
Grasping the lever to put the ship out of auto-pilot, Kress would have to use all of his weight to pull it down, getting thrown on his ass once the lever gave. Gods almighty, how the hell did Kress even get the lever up so easily? Getting up to his feet after the embarrassing display of his physical strength, Kress would slam a lever to his left forward, almost causing him to fall backwards as the ship had a bit of a jolt forward. Besides being a bit too sudden of a movement for Kress' tastes, it was a great sign of relief to see the boat moving once again, but they weren't quite out of the woods yet. Pushing the cruise-control lever he had pulled down earlier back up, Kress would rest his hands on his knees, panting a bit before turning his attention to Kendra, who appeared to be sobbing.
In his haste to take control of the ship, Kress must have not noticed the girl was actually shedding a few tears, causing the boy to be filled with guilt. His command he gave had driven the girl to tears? Ho boy, Kress may have goofed up again. Kneeling down next to the girl, Kress would place a hand on her shoulder. "Hey now, just sitting there and crying about it won't do us any good, now will it? Come on Kendra, we took down a few ships worth of pirates, and now you're giving up? If a toothpick like me can manage to make something work, a talented water mage like yourself shouldn't have any problems handling one last obese pirate and his over-sized pet." Standing up to his feet and offering to help her up, Kress would turn his head towards the speeding shark and Blubber-gut, regardless if she accepted his offer for help or not. Even with the ship's speed it was currently going, it seemed that they'd barely even beat Blubber-gut to the docks, leaving Kress with a bit of a worried expression on his face.
The whole point of trying to bring the ship back to the docks was to return the stolen cargo on the ship back to the port, but at this rate, Blubber-gut would easily destroy the ship before they could even unload the stolen cargo. Thinking back to earlier, Kress would recall that the captain had only made a puncture in the ship, rather than sinking it whole, something he could have done very easily with the help of his partner in crime. Was Blubber-gut only after the three of them? If that were the case, the solution was easy. Though, before Kress could share his observation, he'd feel a familiar presence climbing up his shoulder and plopping his wristbands in his hands. "I swear to the Gods, Kress, if you ever pull a move like that again, I'm truly going to eat your ears. Now, you about to give us another lecture about some other brilliant idea you have, or can I take a nap?"
Rolling his eyes, Kress would glance at his weasel for a quick second before turning his attention back to Kendra. "I know you just heard my thoughts, don't try to act smart. Look, I'm pretty sure that Blubber-gut just wants us, if we get off of this thing as soon as we hit the docks... maybe he'll turn his attacks on us." Although he was certain Blubber-gut couldn't hear them , Kress would still be talking a bit quiet, most likely making him seem a bit foolish. Add that with his lever problems from earlier, Kress wasn't doing much good for his self-image. Well, whatever little he had before all of this. Letting out a bit of a grumble, Wes would stare out towards the pirate and his shark, shooting him a glare. "Works for me. You know, I really didn't care about any of this crap you were doing at first, Kressy, but now... I really just don't like this fat bastard. Like, he's beginning to rival my hate for bread and butter pickles, you know? Like a 'why aren't you a dill pickle?' kind of hate. Plus, what kind of a freaking pet is a shark?! That's just stupid. What's stopping that over-sized gold fish from biting his head off? He's a dumb-dumb."
Chuckling a bit, Kress would shake his head. "Well, you lost me with the whole pickle thing, but I'll agree with the last bit of that. He is quite the "dumb-dumb." Having Wes' support of the idea, Kress would look at Kendra, looking concerned. "What about you, would you okay to hurry off this thing when the time comes? I know your still a bit shaken up, I'm not gonna go through with this plan if your not able to make it off the ship. If I did, I'd just be stuck with the weasel again. I can't let the first person I've had an actual intellectual conversation with be fish-food, not if I want to keep my sanity."{/color]

[OOC: In a month and a half, this thread will have been going on for an entire year! ._.]
The boy was ultimately comforting, except for the fact that he had no idea why she was so upset. She didn't even care that he wasn't in the right direction, he just wanted to see her smile. Something that only one other person in her entire life has ever wanted, her mentor. Yes, Kress was a lot like her mentor, except nothing like him at the same time. The similarity was that she seemed to trust him. She couldn't tolerate people, but she could take his hand feel... okay. Was that really so bad?
"I... I just..." she tried to mutter in between sniffles. It's nothing he hasn't heard before, but she was so scared of sounding completely useless to him. She had to tell him the truth, no matter how much it frightened her. She took a big strong gulp, and spoke as fast as she could. "I can't do any magic for a while." She also couldn't help but look away. She took his hand and got up, but instead of facing a backlash for her comment, something entirely different happened.
Land was finally in sight, all thanks to Kress's and Wes's efforts. "A-amazing..." she stammered out. As one final hurrah, the boy offered their final solution. She was so happy she could almost cry again - he really was choosing her. He could easily save himself, and especially now that she's defenseless, what good would her presence be to him? No, he wanted more than that. He wanted Kendra herself to be there, not her magic. "No, I can go, I just can't help you fight. Unless, me swinging around a big fancy stick is helpful..." Her voice trailed off, she was still worried, but she was confident.
If they got off this and ended this journey alive, Kendra would have to express her bottomless gratitude. Maybe she could even take him to meet her mentor... But what about Wes? Oh, well now was not a good time to ponder such trivial matters. They had to get off the ship soon! Kendra clung tight to Kress's hand. "I'm... ready when you are..." It seems the introvert finally found a friend.

Blushing profusely as he felt the girl's tight grip on his hand, Kress was at a loss of words. He was sure the girl meant this as a kind gesture, a gesture that many friends take part in from what he had read, but still... a girl was grabbing his hand! How was he supposed to react this? Seemed Kendra could easily turn the boy back into his awkward self with just these simple gestures. Though one would probably see this as something that wouldn't allow a friendship to work, Kress saw it as the reason their friendship could work. She was just as awkward as he is, maybe a little less so, but she'd understand why he couldn't just talk at times. Looking over his shoulder, even the weasel's face looked a bit surprised, as if he was just as confused as Kress was. Did either of them actually say something helpful to the girl? Well, if it was anyone, it was Kress, Wes never did anything that could be considered productive.
"Well, judging from your punch earlier, I-I'd say you could do okay with just a big stick.." As the boy finished his silly joke, Wes could be heard chuckling a bit, Kress knowing the weasel would have to throw in a comment of his own. The little guy couldn't help it, he was just a pain in the ass by nature. "I'll say, Kenken laid the smack down on your ass, Kressy!" Being his own number one fan, The weasel cackled to himself before continuing his thought. "But seriously, I can carry your weight Kenken, I already have to carry ol' pointy ear's weight here.... You know, figuratively." Glaring at the weasel, Kress scratched under the nuisances chin. "Yeah, and I carry your little ass everywhere, literally. So it all comes full circle." Smiling at his weasel, Kress would begin to walk towards the front of the ship, Kendra's hand still in his grasp, unknowingly.
Getting a good view of the docks in front of them, Kress looked back towards the back of the ship, taking a peak at just where Blubber-Gut was in relation to the ship. The pirate wasn't too close to the ship they rode on, but he wasn't exactly what Kress could label as a safe distance away. As they neared the dock, Kress backed up a bit, readying himself for the jump they would have to make. "Cling on tight, Wes! I don't wanna see you end up fish food!"
"You're hilarious, really knocking them dead, buddy!" Wes partner hissed out, sarcastically. Getting a running start, Kress leaped off of the ship, landing in a crouched position rather sloppily. Seems he hadn't nailed the whole "looking cool while landing" thing. Turning his head around instantly, Kress peered over the ship, noticing a distinct lack of a massive shark and a fat pirate. Smirking a bit as he dusted himself off the Kress called out to his little team. "Hey, everybody alright?"
"Eh, I'm fairly certain the damn perch was wedged up my ass with that landing, but other than that I'm-Holy by the boley! What the dookie-sprinkles is that?!" Despite his disrespect towards his partners use of the word 'dookie,' Kress was genuinely curious as to what his friend had seen. Following the little guy's pointed paw, Kress' jaw dropped open at the sight. In the air, Kress saw the pirate's massive shark jumping toward the dock, revealing it's four legs as it landed a bit in front of the trio. Giving the three a bit of a demented smile as he slid down his beast, the pirate began to speak. "Aye boy. Earlier, you started off as a little bit of a nuisance, but taken down my ship and my crew... well, let's just say I didn't think a wee little lad like you had it in you."
As the pirates voice entered Kress' ears, his expression morphed into a livid one. This guy had just been a rude prick to him ever since he ran into him, but now it seemed Kress had finally had enough of this guy. Though, before Kress could tell him off, he'd hear a familiar voice get to it first. "There you are, chins-o'-plenty, I've been looking for you. Funny, I'd expect you of all people to respect 'little lads,' considering the little guy you must have in your trousers. you know, over-compensation and all." Smiling at his partner, the two shared a look while the pirate growled in the distance.
"Silence your rat, boyo, or I'll feed 'im to my pet here, Razor-Jaw. Listen, Kebler-elf, give me back the cargo you lifted off of me and maybe I'll consider sparing your life.. or maybe just the girl's. Depends on how much you piss me off, really."
"Eeesh, Blubber-Gut and Razor-Jaw... and I thought 'Kress and Wes' was bad...Ugh." Wes mumbled quietly out loud. It was loud enough for Kress or Kendra to hear, but not Blubber-Gut, no, Wes hadn't responded to that prick yet. "Yeah, fat chance, Blubber-Butt. That's about as likely as you ever getting to see your toes!" Smiling at Kress Wes tilted his head at the boy.
"The pun was intended, you got that, right? Kress? Kendra? The pun was easy to distinguish, right? 'Cause, you know, he's fat."
"Well, kind of. I mean, you didn't really put any emphasis on it."
"Huh, really? 'Cause I thoug-."
"Shut yer damn traps!" the gluttonous pirate interrupted. "I gave you a chance boy, but you blew it! I'm going to look forward to feeding you to my pet!"
Unsheathing his sword, Kress slid his goggles over his eyes, turning to the girl. "Here!" Kress said, slapping his medi-bots and smoke bombs into the girl's hand. "I know you can't use your magic yet, but you can still help! Get some of these people off of the streets, the smoke bombs will help keep you at of fatty's sight. Wes and I can cover you until you clear the place!" Turning his body away from the girl, Kress would keep his head turned towards her. "A-and Kendra.... Be careful... okay?"
Man, that was painfully awkward. With that last bit of stuttering from the boy, Kress turned his head towards Blubber-Gut, ready to free these people of this bastard's tyranny once and for all.

It seemed everything was smooth sailing; so to speak. The landing was a bit more rough than desirable, but hey, they made it out alive. Kendra wouldn't be happier. Well, until the baddie boss himself showed his ugly face with his... quadrupedal shark? What? Now that was weird. It still swam pretty fast despite having poor anatomy for it... or did it? She couldn't tell what it looked like underwater really, nor did she really care. Right now, she was scared out of her mind.
Taking a few steps back and generally positioning herself behind Kress, Kendra remained completely silent during the exchange. She almost started crying again, but then Wes with that mouth of his... she wanted to yell at him to stop making things worse, but her voice box just didn't work. Eventually they reached the point of no return, the pirate boss was on the offensive and Kress would be the only one who could stop it now. Kendra was utterly useless. What she didn't expect was to still be given a purpose.
She didn't really know how to respond at all, other than nodding profusely, though what really caused her eyes to literally open wide was the boy telling her to be careful. She never would've imagined it. She nodded some more and ran off to identify who would be most at-risk. She had a plan as well - to escort them all between the fear nearby buildings, out of reach of the massive pet. If she became targeted, all she had to do was slap down a smoke ball, wait in the cloud for them to draw near, and dash in the opposite direction. She had seen it in movies before!
Once she was a few steps away, only when Kress could not possibly hear her, did her voice start to work ever so slightly. "You be careful too, Kress..." She was genuinely worried, but now, all she could do was hope.
