After the fiasco in the forest, Tez found himself back at Traverse Town relaxing in a hotel. Kicking back in bed with a cigarette in his mouth, a small breeze blowing from the open window. Tez couldn't help but think about Trish and the time they shared. Once him and his master left her in the forest the two of them made their way to Traverse Town. Once they arrived Tez's master just up and left again. Said something along the lines of "I got some loose ends to tie up. Try to stay out of trouble while i'm gone." As quick as he came he left. Another breeze blew into the room and with it came a small letter. Obviously sent by magic it landed perfectly on top of Tez's bare chest. Sitting up he grasped the letter with one hand used the embers of the cigarette to spark and break the seal. Oppening the letter it was written in crimson ink and said the following. I would like to humbly invite Mr. Tezerett Lethar to the Hallowball within the world of Halloween. Every holiday instead of stepping into other lands traditions we host new and exciting ways to celebrate and keep the spirit alive. Please come dressed in formal attire and speak with Dr. Sebastian Scream. He will not only welcome you to his humble home, but will ask you a favor if you would be willing to accept. Either way, come and enjoy the party. Looking the letter over once more Tez figured that there was probably a job offer associated with this formal invitation, but who was he to turn it down. It wasn't like he was doing something else at the moment. Putting out his cigarette, Tez put his shirt on and gathered his belongings. "hmmm I should probably stop and pick up a suit of some kind before I go." Once he was ready he went towards the fire place and vanished into the flames.

Trish gripped the slip of paper in her hand, perplexed. How had this made it into the headquarters unnoticed? The fact that it had mysteriously shown up on the floor of her bedroom seemed to bother her more than the message it read:
I would like to humbly invite Ms. Emery to the Hallowball within the world of Halloween.
A dance, a favor, and a man called Dr. Scream? This whole thing felt suspicious. Was this some sort of set up, another trap like back in the Radiant Garden? As the woman mused over these questions she wondered if she would even go, but the curiosity of how someone could infiltrate the headquarters captivated her. This could be a serious security breech.
Fine, she would go, but that didn’t mean she was dressing up. If this turned out to be a mission she wanted to be ready to fight, not struggling with a pair of heels and an obnoxious dress. The woman opened a portal and with no further hesitations stepped through. As she passed through the dark corridor she could feel a change occurring, apparently the evening attire was not optional. As she stepped out of the portal her usual uniform had melted away, replaced by a much more feminine ensemble. Her sleeves had disappeared leaving bare arms and shoulders. She found the constricted corset about her ribs suffocating as it squeezed together to fit her body perfectly to a long flowing dress. The skirt of the dress seemed relatively plain, but the bust was adorned with intricate metallic swirls which seemed to be placed very carefully to accentuate her curves. Her hood had vanished, revealing long silver hair that cascaded down to the middle of her back and of course, her signature blindfold.
More startling than her change in attire was the new addition to the woman’s back. She gingerly stretched out the mid-sized wings covered in bright white feathers that seemed to glisten in the street lamps light. She was sure they weren’t large enough to allow flight but maybe get a foot off the ground for a moment. Anyhow, she wasn’t interested in trying at the moment. She needed to find this…Dr. Scream. At the moment the woman stood in the middle of what she could only make out as a plaza, a large fountain placed in the middle of a group of shops and houses. She gave off a small sigh, trying to find some hint at where she needed to head or who to talk to. There was no address or way to identify this Dr. Scream given on the invitation. Where was she even supposed to start?

Stopping by a shop Tez got a black suit with a red vest and a red tie. Looking down he saw one of his shoes had a smudge. Walking over to the store clerk he asked if he could shine his shoes before he left. The employee agreed and stepped into the back for a few minutes. While he was away Tez wondered about the possibility of this being a trap. While he tried hard not to have many enemies, he wouldnt be surprised if he had at least one or two.
The store clerk came back and handed Tez his freshly shined shoes. He smiled as he could almost see his reflection, the work was so well done. Paying the man, Tez left a couple of extra munny for a tip. "Thanks for the help." he chimed in as he walked out the door. Reopening the letter Tez read it over once more. Halloween town had a reputation for stirring up some trouble. This was going to be an interesting trip. The last time he was there he was tormenting that shadow creature known as Zett. Letting out a long sigh Tez walked over to the nearest gas lamp and opened the lid exposing the flame, using it as a transport to the world of tricks and treats.
When he arrived he could feel his physical appearance change as he entered the boundaries of the mischievous world. His hair grew longer and spiked more upwards, fangs grew on his teeth, his eyes turned a blood red and cracks formed on the skin at the edge of his face glowing with orange light and emitting a bit of heat. "An ignus beast...fire demon?" Tez let out a bit of a sigh at his new form. While he knew that most people would compare him to a demon, he liked to not resemble one. Pulling out a cig Tez came out of his portal near the town square. An easy enough place to gather ones bearings.
Taking another look around Tez noticed a finely dressed woman who didn't really seem to fit the macabre atmosphere of the world. He could have sworn she had wings. She looked like an angel. Her figure was stunning and she illuminated a radiance that couldn't be put into words. Tez's mouth so far open that the cigarette almost fell out. There was a slight pull at the back of his mind...did he know this woman? Blinking twice he tried to put a name to her...no...it couldnt be..."Angel?!" he called out trying to confirm his suspicions.

Trish spun around in shock when she heard the unmistakable voice. As Tezerett spoke the pet name she had tried so hard to forget she took a moment to examine her outfit one more time. ”You’ve got to be shitting me…” She groaned. Of course Halloween town would dress her as an angel, now she’d never be able to get rid of the nickname.
Trish’s attention turned to Tezerett now. She could instantly tell the world had changed him as well. Even from a few feet away she could sense the lines of heat running along his face, did they have anything to do with his fire wielding abilities?
The presence of the man immediately brought up conflicting emotions in her. Thoughts of everything he had said about Zett turned her stomach in a dreadful way, especially after Zett blatantly ignored her back in Neverland. He hadn’t even spoken a word, just ran off as he made her look like a fool right in front of Danny and William. All rational thinking about this encounter should have had her leaning towards Tezerett’s warning as the truth, but there was something that kept her clinging onto the small scrap of hope that maybe there still would be something between her and Zett.
Part of the woman also wanted to feel happy that she had run into the fire wielder. They had not exactly left each other on the best of terms, so much so that she was a bit surprised that the man actually seemed happy to see her. Well…Not angry at least. She couldn’t tell way too much from just one word.
”Tezerett? What are you doing here?” There’s no way he had been invited to… She took another moment to look over the man. Suit and tie with nice dress shoes. Had Halloween town just conveniently dressed him like this or did he have some say in the fancy attire? If he was invited, was this just another trap from the purple entity? If so, where was Zett, wasn’t he a part of this as well? Trish’s head was spinning with all the confusion that had just taken place. She assumed only the ball would reveal more answers.

The confusion on her face meant that she wasn't expecting him. Tezerett just reached into his pocket and pulled out the invitation.
"I was invited to a party. I am guessing by your attire you were as well?"
Tez was still amazed that the fierce warrior could clean up so nicely. Looking her up and down once more all he could think about was how she resembled the Angel he referred to her as. While it was mostly a joke it was a pleasant surprise to her blunt fierce normal side.
Before the two of them could exchange more pleasantries a gate opened up with a very loud creaking sound that resinated through the square. Tez quickly covered his ears at the sound of the horrible iron scraping against itself. Looking over to the source of the sound Tez noticed a very tall man in a black and white suit with a bow tie walking towards them. As he got closer he only got taller. His features were very thin and his arms and legs were longer than most. Tez guessed he stood at about eight feet or so. He looked like a skeleton that forgot to take off it's skin.
"If you have arrived for the party you will follow me. Dr. Scream is expecting you." His voice was dull and monotone with a deep inflection. Either he was that good at his job...or he hated it. Tez couldnt tell. Trying to be a gentleman Tez walked up next to Trish and extended his arm.
"May I escort the fine lady to the ball?" He asked with a smile.

Trish could only assume the slip of paper the man had pulled out to show her was the same as hers. An odd invitation with minimal information. Why had he gotten one as well? ”Yes…I was as well. You don’t have any idea who this Dr. Scream character is would you?”
Trish appeared wary of the large man who appeared from behind the creaky gate. He towered over the two by at least a couple feet, she didn’t know a man could even grow that tall, but then again who was to say he was even human. It was an entirely different world after all. He seemed dangerously skinny, skeleton like even. She could make out almost every bone that was not covered by his neatly pressed suit. His cool voice sent a chill down her spine, nothing about the endeavor felt festive, she wondered if a dance would even await them at the mansion ahead of them.
Trish hesitated for a moment as Tezerett requested to be her escort. Escort? The woman was not even entirely sure what that entailed. There was no reason in offending the man though, for all she knew he would be her only ally in a world of obstacles they were sure to face. She took the man’s arm and they began their walk towards mansion, her bright white stilettos clicking against the cobblestone floor with each step.
”Have any other guests arrived?” Trish’s attention turned completely to the butler like skeleton man. She really hoped that she and Tezerett were not the only ones invited to this odd occasion.

As the two followed the strange tall man Tez felt a little at ease for some reason. Whatever awaited them at this ball, Tez was sure that Trish would have his back. A smile crept across his at the fact she was willing to accept his escort. He was hoping that their last encounter was water under the bridge.
As the two of them walked she asked if others had arrived. The large man didn't turn around and just talked as the group walked. "Many guests have arrived. Some have yet to come. Others will be joining." He was very short and straight to the point. Tez wasn't sure exactly how many people would be at this ball, but it sounded like a pretty large event.
The path the group was walking on headed into an open field. Tez could see in the distance a large mansion on a hilltop. It wouldnt take them very long to reach it. Many lanterns lined the road as well the lights of the house were shining through the vast windows. There were tree levels to the mansion and it looked very extravagant. Many carriages were sitting outside the main entrance. Groundskeepers were taking horses into stables.
As the group got closer to the mansion it just got bigger and bigger. From a distance it looked impressive, but up close it held a magnificence all its own.
"You asked me if I knew this Dr. Scream...Yeah I have no idea..."
The large man opened the front doors for the two and motioned them to come inside. "Follow me. The master want's to speak with you in private." He said as he started walking up a spiral staircase. The entrance to the mansion had two spiral staircases leading up to the second floor. A large chandelier hung from the ceiling illuminating the entire entrance way. Paintings of many different styles hung from the walls. Whoever this Dr. Scream was munny was probably no problem for this man.
The skeletal man led the two into a room on the second floor. It was a nice little study with bookshelves and a desk. "The master will be with you shortly." he said and he took his leave. Closing the door behind him. While time alone with Trish in a mansion with dress attire was quite alluring, Tez tried to stay focused on the mission at hand. Maybe some other time, when Trish was more open to such ideas.

Trish remained silent as Tezerett explained to her that he had no clue who Dr. Scream was either. Though this man’s unknown identity put her on edge, at least she knew the butler was not lieing about the guests. In the distance in another hall she could hear the sounds of elegant Christmas music accompanied by the chatter of a growing group. She wondered how she and Tezerett had gotten onto this exclusive guest list.
This master Dr. Scream… Trish had to wonder what type of doctor he was. A crazy scientist, a crackpot medicine man, or did he just buy himself the title with all this munny he had? The answer could drastically change whatever favor the man would ask for.
Trish let out a nervous sigh, releasing herself from Tezerett as the skeleton man left the room. She sat herself on the edge on the mysterious man’s desk, beginning to pick at her new found wings as her nerves began to eat at her. She couldn’t tell if she liked the new additions or if they were just an annoying accessory. Either way for the time being she was stuck with them. Finally her attention turned back to the man accompanying her.
“Don’t you think it’s a little odd to be asked a favor by a complete stranger who we owe nothing to, especially before we can enjoy this dance?” Unless this…master just so happened to be the master, she couldn’t think of any reason why she would need to accept this task. But what if it was? The simple thought of the man caused her to hop off the table as she anxiously anticipated whoever would burst through that door any minute. After all she never knew his real name, though she had never imagined it being something as lame as Dr. Scream. Only the man of the hour would be able to give them answers now.

It was apparent that Trish had always been given her jobs and was rarely requested for things. She seemed very on edge about the whole thing. "I've gone on many jobs where I had no idea who the employer was until the end. I am sure our experience and names get around to the point where we might have a reference or two." Even with Tez saying this out loud it still seemed a bit outlandish. He wasnt even sure what the job would entail.
As if on cue there was a knock on the door and a someone started to walk in. At last the mysterious Dr. Scream made his appearance. A fairly small man walked through the door frame. Black and white suit with top hat and cane. The man wore a monocle and it made one eye seem larger than the other. His teeth were easily noticed behind his small mouth and he just walked in with a smile. "Yes, yes greetings and thank you both for coming. It's a pleasure to meet you." He said as he walked up to each of them and shook their hands. As he took their hand he for some reason stared down at the floor the entire time. So much so he was almost bending over.
"Yes I am Dr. Sebastian Scream and I will be the host of the event this evening." He said as he took his seat at the desk. "Yes yes, You are probably wondering why it is I called you here. Well I have a favor to ask. Tonight we are having our gift of romance celebration. We of the Hallows eve like to experience other holidays. This time we are mixing the gala's of christmas and the romance of how you put it...Valentines day." As he said that he clasped his hands together and scooted in his chair all excited like. "Now my reason for asking you both here is for simple reason. I am in need of trusty well dressed BODY GUARDS. Yes yes, I have gotten many good words from you're references and they say that you will keep my guests safe from any threat that may or may not ensue this evening. Now of course you two are more than welcome to enjoy the party for all that it is worth, the drinks, the food, my only stipulation is that you stay till the end of the festivities and everyone has left. Yes yes, any questions?
After his explanation Tez was a little shocked at the request and the little guy just sat there with a smile on his face as if this was all normal. Tez turned to Trish and the only words that could come out were "uhhh...." Hoping that Trish would interject any major questions or concerns.

Trish mused over Tezerett’s explanation, but was unsure if it matched up to her work. Most who crossed her path on business would not be around to give a decent reference. After all, her role was most often one of executioner. The only one who had gotten away was Zett and she was sure she wouldn’t be getting a recommendation from him. That meant that this Dr. Scream would have to have heard from the master himself. Now that would be something…
Trish snapped out of any thoughts of her previous work as she heard the knock on the door. She immediately began the analysis process of the man the moment he stepped through the door. He did seem to match the profile of a rich mansion owner. There was nothing out of the ordinary of his aura, and his stature was in no way intimidating. Trish hesitantly took the odd man’s hand and carefully watched him as he shook Tezerett’s before making his way to the seat behind the desk. As he explained his plans for the evening Trish couldn’t help but blush softly at the idea of a romantic evening with the fire wielder. It was almost embarrassing.
Trish couldn’t help but grin as Tezerett struggled with how to respond to the man, as if he was waiting for him to jump in. It was almost cute to see him stumble. She had enough questions to be comfortable enough taking things over from here for him. She placed her hands behind her back to conceal any nervous ticks from Dr. Scream before taking a small step forward and addressing him.
”Yes actually…What makes you think there would be trouble at this event?” If there wasn’t significant risk for this event, they would have just hired locals to do the job. ”Also, what compensations will there be and is there any way you could disclose just who these…references…are?” Her demands did not seem unreasonable for an employer she knew nothing about. She wasn’t even sure how the master would react to accepting another employer. Was she to work exclusively for him? She’d never come across the dilemma, but if he had an issue with it she was sure she was sure he could just pull her through a portal and away from the even. So far no such thing had happened, so she must have been in the clear.

"Yes yes, I don't think there is too much to worry about as far as DANGER, but better safe than sorry no? As for compensation you will be paid, how does 10,000 munny sound? Yes yes, as for your references I am afraid they wished to remain anonymous." Tez's mouth nearly dropped at the sound of 10,000 munny. It must be nice to just drop lots of money down for whatever needs he may need.
"Yes yes, well without further adoo why don't you join our guests yes? I am sure you will enjoy yourselves." Without Tez's notice the tall gentleman who led them here was now standing behind him letting out a deep sigh as he said "please...this way."
He lead the two down the stairs and into the main hall. It seemed like the size of a football field. The light in the hall was a dim light that had a bit of a purple glow to it. Off to the left side stood a buffet table. With a closer eye Tez noticed the fact that where there would be normal little heart decorations, there were actual heart organs littering the table. Tez let out a little chuckle at the thought. These Halloween Town folk never really understood the concept of the other holidays. Many decorations like that were strewn across the hall. Bone christmas lights, moth covered cotton streamers, the list goes on and it just made Tez smiled all the same. The various guests were dressed up in reds and whites, fitting for the "occasion."
The ballroom was fairly filled with many people. Who most of which were as groosem looking as Tez. Looking over at Angel gave Tez a little sigh of relief. The guests were dancing close together and trying out the ballroom lifestyle. Those on the dance floor were enjoying the night for all that they could and were getting to know one another.
Tez looked over to Angel and just smiled. "Sooo...You hungry?"

”10,000 each.” Trish made sure to note; this time it wasn’t a question. If this man was as rich as he seemed she was going to ring him for all she could get. With no further word of opposition, she followed after Tezerett and the butler to see what was in store for the duo.
”Wow…” Trish mumbled to herself as they stepped into the main hall. The night was early but the room already seemed to be filling up with all sorts of people…er, if you could call all of them people. With such diversity, Trish couldn’t help but wonder how they would differentiate a threat from a guest. Dr. Scream had carefully side stepped her question of what would be threatening this dance. How would they be able to pin point the problem?
”Sure, why not?” Trish gave Tezerett a sheepish smile before turning her attention the buffet table. She made her way across the room with her partner to the odd arrangement of delicacies. The woman took a moment to examine the room. Its size was daunting, how could only two people protect all these guests? She absent mindedly grabbed at one of the spooky treats, letting out a gasp and dropping it back onto the platter as it began to squirm through her fingers. Were those worms in that bite sized sponge cake?! The thought turned her stomach and she immediately lost her appetite. ”I don’t know about this world…” She mumbled, ignoring the treats that even seemed safe, who knew what was lurking inside them.
Maybe a drink instead. Trish turned her attention to the punch bowl in the middle of the buffet table, pouring a glass and handing it to Tezerett before pouring herself one. She took a cautious sip, glad to find it was not any odd blood flavor. It was the same generic fruit punch she’d had at just about every other ball she’d been to. ”So…I wonder what reference we have in common…” The woman was not the best at starting small talk.

While Trish was freaking over some worm infested cookies, Tez made his way around the table in search of normal food. He managed to find some wings, little mini sandwiches, the ones you make out of crackers and slices of meats. By the look of relief on Trish's face, Tez guessed that the punch was fine to drink. Finding some more simple edibles, Tez grabbed some silverware, accepted the cup of punch from Trish and found a vacant table.
Trish started to try and engage in small talk. Tez nearly smiled at the gesture, the two were stuck together all night so why not try to have simple conversation to pass the time. "Ah you never really know who would be "referencing" someone now a days. It could be someone we know, or someone who hates us. Heck it could even be an oracle. That happened to me once. She was an oddball that one." Tez started to dig into his little plate of safety food. The wings were tasty and boneless as a bonus. Now he wouldnt have to worry about getting sauce everywhere. Scooting the plate over to Trish so she could have a few bites, "Anything on there suit your fancy? As Tez offered her the food he noticed a slip of paper on the table.
It was a list of events for the evening. Judging by how everyone was they were still waiting for the opening ceremony. Afterwards would be a dinner with live entertainment. Then an open dance to find the one to dance with.
The dinner sounded promising but the dance to find the one to dance with just sounded like a mouth full. Tez took another look around the room and he didn't see anything out of the ordinary just yet.

”Do you have something against oracles?” Trish tried to make the question seem as neutral as possible, but the offside comment peaked the woman’s curiosity. What would Tezerett do if he ever found out what she was? Who was this oracle he’d met, and was she really an oracle or just another crazy cat lady hopped up in a cave of fumes? She drummed her fingers across the table as each possibility crossed her mind. No, she couldn’t have been real, the master would know about her then, wouldn’t he?
Trish shook her head, trying to turn her thoughts away from the man. She noticed Tezerett scanning a sheet of paper that had been placed at their table. As soon as he seemed done reading over it she slid it over to herself, gently running her fingers across the paper to see what was in store for the pair tonight. She could immediately feel her cheeks begin to burn as she read ‘the dance to find the one to dance with’. She wasn’t exactly sure what the wording meant but it gave her some vague romantic vibe. Her thoughts immediately turned to the last man who had held her close in a romantic dance: Zett. She still held conflicted thoughts of the man since their last encounter. It was almost like if he’d known she’d encountered Zett when she noticed him on the beach, he just ran and she hadn’t seen him since. What did it mean? The woman still cared for him a lot, but when did she have to come to terms with the fact that maybe Zett didn’t want her anymore? She let out a soft sigh, still lost in how to take what Tezerett had told her about the mysterious man.
Trish’s attention now turned to the plate in front of Tezerett. She carefully inspected each piece of food before deciding on one of the mini sandwiches. It smelled of pepperoni and ham. Glad to have found something that seemed normal she took a small bite from the snack.
”Well, I hope we don’t end up becoming the live entertainment.” Trish gave a nervous laugh as she once again made a quick scan of the room. With being made security for this entire room, she had a hard time trying to relax and really enjoy herself.

"No, she was a nice girl. She could tell the weather, but that was about it. Came in handy for the travelers. Kinda strange when you see a girls eyes glow and multiple voices tell you that the sun will be bright and by evening the moisture of water and air will blot the Azure blue with grey." Tez said absent minded as if this was normal. With all the travels that Tez did in his youth and after his families incident, he had learned it would be best to not be surprised.
"I'm sure a man that can toss away 20,000 munny to some hired help wouldnt be so cheap with his entertainment. I'll bet 2,000 of that munny that he got some extravagant performance group or something like that. Spare no expense for his guests." Tez nodded in his Angle's direction with a smile. He wondered if she was the kind of girl to take on some underworld acts such as gambling.
As the two conversed the hall started filling up with more and more guests. The food table running out of munchies, leaving nothing but the normal things. Tez got a bit of a chuckle at that. Healthy must have been too good for these monsters. As the more "important" guests began to arrive. A small little lump in a large suite stood holding a scroll. All Tez could see of the creature was a hat on a lump with arms too short to appear out of it's sleeves. If it was wearing pants it's legs wouldn't fit through those either. It did, however, have the decency of making sure to have large shoes on.
Despite it's small size, it's voice could carry through the hall no problem. The little monster started to call out the names of the lords and ladies of darkness that were making their humble appearance to this Hallowball.
"If something is going down tonight, when do you think they'll strike?" Tez asked trying to keep up friendly conversation.

”Glowing? Heh, that’s weird…” The weather…Trish gave a short smirk at the seemingly useless gift. Why couldn’t she have been so lucky? Just sit on the road all day and tell people how sunny it would be that day, now that would be the life. Instead she had to actually see things, say things…Things she didn’t really understand, but things nonetheless.
Trish couldn’t help but grin as Tezerett offered a bet on the entertainment of the evening. Having had a soft spot for gambling, she wouldn’t be one to pass off throwing a little munny around. ”…I bet 2,000 munny that the entertainment is the threat.” She laughed. It was a bit of a stretch, but in this world it seemed like anything could be possible. ”A lower class of minstrels or magicians trying to make a few quick bucks in the presence of these high class socialites? Who in that position wouldn’t want to take these egotistical assholes down a few notches?” As she brought up the possibility, a part of her almost felt bad to be in a position forced to stop the entertainers if they did strike. She herself did not have much respect for the lords and ladies; why were they allowed to live such blissfully ignorant lives of wealth while she and so many others were left to struggle? Well, at least she had the master to care for her.
Trish shook her head, trying to clear her mind of any guilt she might feel for the entertainers. She took a small sip of her punch, wishing it had some spirit to it to dull the anxiety conversing with the fire wielder caused. She turned her attention away from him and towards the guests, taking note of each lord and lady that was important enough to be called out by the odd blob.

The spice that Trish added to the bet, it was an interesting thought, but not for the reasons that Trish was insinuating. "I don't think that performers of a grade that would fit Dr. Screams tastes would have any ill will towards the rich. They probably live to perform and have made this show a part of themselves. Wanting to give the absolute best quality that money can buy." Tez thought about it and he was pretty confident on his side of the bet. Taking a sip of his punch he mulled over the idea, turned to Trish and extended his arm. "You got yourself a bet."
As the two made their deal, the torso man mentioned his final couple and Dr. Scream stepped out into the spot light, literally. Bathed in light he addressed his ballroom. "Yes yes, welcome one and all to this here Hallowball. You see what I did there? Yes yes, I thank each and every one of you for coming. I spared no expense for tonight. You will all be given the finest of cuisine and the top notch entertainment. So please, sit down and relax the show will begin shortly." With that he stumbled off and joined the party
Once he was out of the light a little black cat appeared in the spotlight. Everyone watched in confusion as the cat just sat there and went "meow." After that the lights changed the colors of the room. The flames of the lanterns started turning everything into black light. The colors of the room were changing and becoming much more intense. The light followed the little cat into the middle of the ballroom. Another Meow escaped the cats furry lips and food appeared in front of all the guests, not just any food, each and every guests favorite dish appeared before them. For Tez it was a steaming steak with a side of fried shrimp with cocktail sauce, french fries and more punch. Tez was a little confused at the punch part, but he didn't care. The meal looked great.
The cat reached the center of the large room and a large puff of smoke covered the ballroom. As the smoke cleared there was a beautiful woman in a suit, the jacket had tails and she wore a top hat and had a whip in one hand. Surrounded her were many other people of different size and shape. Some were holding props and others were just standing in an elegant pose. The ballroom was now filled with Trapeze and two large rings. The woman in the middle, accompanied by the cat, stepped forward. "We are the Blue Moon Cirques, we thank you for having us and after a few minutes of preparation we will begin our show. Tonight we will astound and amaze you with our tale of Romeo and Juliet. A classic tragedy of the heart. Please, enjoy your meals."
An eruption filled the halls so loud that the chandeliers began to shake. People were applauding and cheering for the recently arrived cirques. Even Tez was giving his applause. The Blue Moon Cirques was a very exclusive group. They traveled the worlds to create new stories and tell them in fantastic ways that only members of the cirque can do. Even while they traveled the worlds they only stayed in one place for a few days. If you missed their shows, no one could say when they would be back to perform again. "If the good doctor managed to get these guys then I am sure he payed a very very big penny."
"Oh he did there little fire starter. Standing to Tez's right was the ringleader, getting a closer look she was quite the stunning lady. She tipped her hat and revealed cat ears beneath her curly brown hair. Her hair extended down to nearly her waist and here eyes were a bright yellow that could glow in the light. Her dark skin seemed smooth and a few fangs could be noticed in her smile. "I was told that you two would be our protection for the evening, I was curious and wanted to meet the both of you, and to assure you that my cirques and I plan to cause no "unplanned" disruption this evening. We are all professionals and I will do whatever it takes to make sure it stays that way. It was a pleasure stopping by I will speak more after the show" With that said she smiled again, took another bow and left.
Tez looked over to Trish "I'm winning." He smiled and started to put a knife into his steak.

Trish gave Tezerett a sheepish grin as she accepted his hand, sealing the deal. As if on cue, a small cat appeared in the spotlight. An odd form of entertainment, but hell, anything seemed game on this world. A shapeshifter maybe? The woman watched carefully as it made its way to the center of the ballroom, and then a smokescreen erupted and seemed to shroud the entire room. As it faded, multiple entertainers had filled the room. The sudden untraceable appearance put her on edge. How...Trish's attention quickly shot over to the side of her partner as the ring leader silently made her way over to him. She couldn’t help but scowl as she crossed her arms and leaned back in her chair as the woman continued to converse with him. Yes, she had heard briefly about this ‘Blue Moon Cirques’ before.
”I haven’t lost yet, parties not over yet. I’m standing by my bet.” To her it seemed like a perfect crime set up. In town for maybe a day or two, just enough time to complete a few grand heists and get out of town before anyone was the wiser.
”Doesn’t it bug you how much they already know about you without even having to ask?” What lay in front of Trish was a dish she hadn’t experienced since she lived back on Bijyma. The entrée from the smell of it was unmistakable. Butternut squash ravioli with a light creamy sauce took up a good portion of her plate. The side was a perfectly crafted and presented ramekin full of ratatouille. To the side of the food appeared another glass of punch. She frowned, well, maybe they didn’t know everything she liked, but still...how?
They definitely knew enough to make her uncomfortable. Not only did they know Tezerett’s favorite dish, they also seemed to already know what he was, which meant they already knew his weaknesses. What did they know about her? The woman shifted in her seat uneasily. No, they couldn’t know. They wouldn’t have hired her if they had known.
Trish waited for a moment, watching Tezerett dig into his steak before beginning to pick at her own ravioli. He didn’t seem to be reacting to the food at all, so it probably wasn’t poisoned. The woman let out a soft sigh, maybe she was over-reacting to the scenario. After all, their employer had told her to relax. The threat would probably be obvious as soon as it presented itself, so what was the need to be on high alert the entire night? Even so, the woman felt more comfortable focusing on a possibly nonexistent threat than conversing with her partner. His presence alone provoked anxiety, why couldn’t she be as comfortable with him as she had been the night they spent together in the tree house. Well…Until he had to mess everything up.
Trish finally turned her attention back to the entertainment. The ringleader had made her way back to the makeshift stage. She was curious to see how these acrobats would reenact a story. She hoped it wasn’t all abstract dance stuff, she never really liked that type of thing.

Trish brought up a good point. How did they know every individual guests favorite meal? Also the fact that Angel and himself were just here as security. That must have meant they were actually on a guest list of some kind. "Or maybe they have a way to gage our tastes, or maybe a psychic could read our thoughts? Or maybe an oracle of their own can tell peoples taste in food?" The more ideas that floated out of Tezerett's mouth the more outlandish they seemed to him. The meal was good and the entertainment seemed promising.
Looking up the ringleader was now center stage and the spot light shone on her. The woman removed her top hat and bowed to the crowd. "Tonight is the tale of two star crossed lovers." She began the opening monologue of the famous Shakespeare play Romeo and Juliet. Tez had read it once before. As she was narrating there were trapeze artists performing above her, two of them, one obviously representing Romeo, and the other Juliet. The two danced in the sky, never reaching one another until the ringleader came to a close on the prologue. As the two took hands for the first time a bright flash of fire works erupted around them and the audience applauded their performance. The lights faded and the show began. Opening with a street market performance of various clowns and jugglers.
"From the look of it, this is going to be a full on play." Tez nodded in approval, The Blue Moon Cirques was so far living up to their name. Leaning closer in to Trish so she could hear him better, "What do you think Angel? Where do you think we should keep an eye on"
The audience was captivated, laughing at the mistakes the clowns were performing and enjoying the show as the characters made their appearance. Little goblins roamed the isles in little suits, refilling plates of food and drink as they saw fit. The night was going off without a hitch. Those who could see Dr. Scream he had no trouble exhibiting his excitement for the galah.

”That’s ridiculous, that would be a total waste of an oracle’s abilities.” Trish scoffed, but she had to admit the man’s explanation was at least plausible. But there weren’t any other oracles except her, right? The thought of someone being able to perceive her tastes or preferences or pry information covertly through psychic ability almost disturbed her. If that power was available, there would be no limit to what they could know.
Trish couldn’t help but turn her attention to the ringleader as she introduced the play. She watched as the actors were announced and the show began. She let out a soft sigh as the conflict was presented: unrequited love. Her thoughts automatically turned to Zett. Was he in some way her Romeo? What about Tezerett, would he ever become anything significant? The woman rested her head in her hands as she wondered how the story would end, though the ringleader had already alluded toward the finale in the prologue. Oh well, she could at least pretend things would turn out right for awhile.”Seems like it wouldn’t it…” Trish mumbled, obviously distracted from the man’s small talk by the scene which had begun to unfold in front of her.
The woman snapped out of the storyline and her thoughts as her partner leaned in close to her to ask her what their next steps would be. His proximity made her un ”Well with two pairs of eyes…kinda… one of us should focus on the show in case the cirques is up to anything and another should focus on the surroundings.” Trish noted as she took another sip from her punch. The woman’s attention turned to Dr. Scream, who seemed completely engrossed by the acrobats and fireworks. ”Got a preference?” She anxiously noted the goblins which scurried in between the tables, though they didn’t really seem too much of a threat.
