About the Character
Character Personality:
Amaya used to be a carefree individual. Normally, she was always the quiet one in her group of friends. It's why she had obtained the powers that she does. Just like her powers and color of armor, Amaya is misunderstood. People assume she's dark and evil when in reality, she's a good person deep down. If anything, due to the change of events in her life, she had become harsh. She has a vendetta to fulfill and those that get in the way and mess it up for her are considered as burdens. She will not hesitate to tell someone that they need to work on their skill if she finds herself having to rescue them in a battle more often than not.
Of course, Amaya will not allow someone to get hurt since the goodness in her heart will not allow her to stand there and watch. She knows what she has to do but it bothers her hence why she has become so harsh. She is driven to do whatever it takes to do what she must. Honestly, she is not sure if she can do it when it comes down to it. The fear of knowing what she must do causes her to hesitate at times when faced with those that she has to do great harm unto. Her situation is tragic and she knows it.
If anyone were to befriend her, they will realize that she's actually a loyal and trustworthy friend. If need be, she would die to protect her friends. However, she is not blind when friends do something wrong. Amaya will not hesitate to point these things out to her friends in hopes of making them stop such acts. For the most part, Amaya seems stoic and cold on the outside. In reality, she's just a caring person that has had to put up many layers to protect her true self from everything around her and the fact of what she now must do. She doesn't want to do what she knows she has to do but it must be done. When it comes to situations like these, Amaya is the type that would go through with such tough decisions. Emotionally, she is strong but the strong can only withstand so much. Amaya has yet to realize just how much she can take.
Amaya is not good with expressing emotions. She is used to keeping them under wraps. So, when she is faced with a situation where she has to bring them out, she's rather awkward. After all, she has hidden them away for so long that it's almost alien to her to express them. Well, she's not emotionless, just the general emotions people see her expressing is harshness, anger and indifference or coldness. She's almost afraid to let others see her more vulnerable side since she worries they too will fall to the same thing her sister and friends have.
Character Appearance:
Amaya stands at five feet and five inches without shoes. When she's wearing shoes, her height then is about five feet and six inches. Weight wise, she's about 128 pounds. Her hair is somewhat wavy yet almost straight reaching to just an inch past her shoulders. The color of her hair is a reddish brown color, not red nor auburn but a reddish brown. Her eyes, too, are a brown color. For body type, although Amaya has undergone harsh training, she's not ripped like an Amazon. If anything, she is more like that of a runner. Her form is curved in the right places and toned in the arms and legs. Although she might appear to be fragile, she's actually rather flexible and agile with some moderate strength without being a power house.
When it comes to the kind of attire that Amaya wears, she wears modern day clothing. The general colors that she's known to wear are blues and reds. Her normal attire consists of thin long sleeve shirts and jeans.
Now, the armor that Amaya summons to her form is all black in color. It's a strange sort of armor in that it reminds one of a dragon. The helmet is fashioned like that of a dragon head with the spikes coming out of the helmet in a V shape counting up to six spikes total. Where the shoulder blades are, two metallic wings sprout out from the back and somehow have the ability to fly. Where the tailbone would be, a long, metallic and armored tail sprouts out for a total length of six and a half feet. As for the armor, it protects her chest, front of her legs, arms and head and back. What it doesn't protect is the back of her legs, her arms, and her sides. One her hands, the gauntlets she wears, the glove portion at the fingertips curve out like small, sharp claws.
Battle Statistics
Character Position: Heroine
Character Abilities:
1. High Jump: Since Amaya is a Dragoon, she is able to leap to extraordinary heights in battle. The highest she can go without resorting to flight is about thirty feet. PASSIVE.
2. Flight: Thanks to her armor, Amaya can fly if she wishes to. Only when she has her armor on though.
3. Armor, to me!: Amaya can summon her armor onto her form from seemingly nowhere. The armor suddenly forms around her body to protect her. Her defense increases to 50% and the armor stays on throughout the battle unless someone is able to hit it hard enough to cause it to break off. Armor's appearance in physical appearance description.
4. Slash: Regardless if she's swinging her scythe or her legs at an opponent, an energy slash made of darkness shoots forth at her foes at six feet in the direction she swung her scythe or lashed out her kick in an arch. She can only do 3 consecutive slashes before going into a cool down and they all must be one right after the other. 3 post cool down if she uses all 3 slashes. If she just slashes once, she has a 1 post cool down.
5. Force field: Amaya can send up a force field dome of energy around herself and allies. The dome reaches at least six feet around her in diameter and those inside it can step out of it if they choose. The dome itself is harmless, just meant as a means of protection. If it is not destroyed by a strong attack, the dome stays up for at least 3 posts and then goes into a 3 post cool down. If blasted, the dome takes 3 posts before it can be used again.
6. Aerial burst: Amaya will fly into the sky. Generally, this tactic is to take on aerial foes. What she does is once she's close to her enemies in the air, she will extend her arms and legs and just as she does so, a burst of dark energy explodes outward from her. This burst only extends to seven feet all around her. If anyone is unlucky enough to get caught in it, they can receive moderate-serious damage. State of damage depends on the opponent's roleplayer. 5 post cool down.
7. Martial Arts: Amaya has been trained extensively in the martial arts. If she were to lose her scythe in the middle of combat, Amaya is able to handle herself in hand-to-hand combat. PASSIVE.
8. Shadow Copy: Amaya is able to form a single copy of herself made of shadow. What this copy does is that it's able to fly, hack and slash. However, other than those natural abilities, it doesn't inherit any of her other abilities. This copy, if not damaged enough, will remain in battle for at least three posts before dispersing. It takes three hits before dispersing from attacks. 3 post cool down.
9. Shadow Strike: Amaya will dive into a person's shadow and pop out from another shadow in the immediate area. Of course, only shadows that are large enough for her to go through. Once she pops out, Amaya will attempt to slash at her opponent once. She's able to phase through shadows at least three times before she has to wait 3 posts to do it again.
10. Shadow ball: Amaya can form and toss a ball made of shadows that is the size of a basketball at someone to cause minor damage. She can form and toss at least 4 of these before going into a 3 post cool down.
11. Shadow Paralysis: Amaya will stab her scythe into someone's shadow (usually NPCs unless given permission to from opponent's roleplayer) to paralyze them for a short amount of time. It's left to the opponent roleplayer how long the paralysis lasts for if this afflicts a roleplayer's character. Will only be used once in a thread against another roleplayer's characters unless expressly requested and given permission to do more than once.
12. Shadow Snares: Amaya can create 4 tendrils of shadow. There has to be shadows in the immediate area for her to reach the maximum of 4 tendrils. These tendrils will then attempt to ensnare each a limb of the opponent. Once it latches on, the tendrils remain there for as long as the opponent rper decides for. During the time these snares keep the target in place (if successful) Amaya will attempt to slash at her opponent. Once that's done, the tendrils disperse and Amaya goes into a 3 post cool down. Of course, if the tendrils aren't successful, they will keep trying to catch the opponent until 4 posts have passed and will disperse on their own unless destroyed by the opponent rper. It takes two hits for each tendril before it disperses.
13. Mimicry: Amaya will form a shadow copy of her opponent. Just like her own shadow copy, this copy of her opponent only has physical abilities. It's properties are the same as her own Shadow copy and therefore has the same cool down period and duration.
14. Which One Am I?: Amaya will form 3 hadow copies of herself. Like her regular shadow copy, these copies will also be able to fly and hack or slash. In order to stop this early, one would have to strike the real Amaya since these shadow copies are more visually identical to her. These copies will try to attack the opponent for three posts until going away on their own unless destroyed first. Takes 3 hits before they are dispersed. 5 post cool down.
Character Weapons:
Scythe: A surprisingly durable weapon that cannot seem to break by normal means. Even when it is broken by abnormal means, it always seems to return intact. However, it does not return during the battle when it is broken. When Amaya summons her armor to her form, her weapon appears along with it.
Character Strengths: Adept in the martial arts, can fight with a scythe and has an armor that gives her the powers mentioned in abilities.
Character Weaknesses: Is human without her armor and loses her abilities except for ones she already head prior to having her armor. Might not be able to do what she has resolved to do in the first place once it comes down to it. Believes she has to do what she must do by herself and doesn't let others in who might be able to help her.
Character Relationships:
Mother & Father: Little is known about Asami's and Amaya's parents. Asami and Amaya didn't have much time to spend with them before they died due to an unfortunate accident while the two sisters were very young. Both were raised by their grandparents.
Seto Fukui: Amaya's and Asami's grandfather. He is a kindly old man and a clumsy one at that. He often drives their grandmother crazy with the antics he pulls.
Ai Fukui: Amaya's and Asami's grandmother. She is a very strict woman but is a caring soul. Honestly, it was she who had raised Amaya and Asami. It is from she that they had learned how to fight.
Asami Fukui: Amaya's elder sister by two years. The two had their moments but they got along for the most part. They hung around the same friends and together, fought alongside one another whenever faced with danger. What has happened has broken Amaya's heart the most knowing what she must do to her own flesh and blood. Their bond was strong. Asami is the opposite of Amaya in more ways than one. Asami was the leader of their little group.
Stella Smith: A good friend of Amaya's...once upon a time. Now, much like the others, Amaya is in great conflict with her and the other four. The two used to be sparring partners. Stella used to enjoy swimming and had once been on a swim team.
Dante Williams: Although Amaya gets along with Dante, they aren't all that close in terms of friends. Dante's known for his hotheadedness and has a joy partaking in tournaments or fighting.
Reiko Fuji: Amaya's best friend out of the group. Reiko's known for her smarts and intuition.
Character History:
Amaya was born during a harsh winter in her homeworld, Earthsea. Their parents, not much was really known. Amaya had been just two years old when their parents had died in an unfortunate accident. What that accident was, however, neither of Amaya's grandparents had ever revealed that information to them. All that Amaya and Asami knew was that their parents weren't around anymore and now they were living with their grandparents.
Their childhood was anything but ordinary growing up. Where their grandfather, Seto, was a kindly old man that would tell them stories and was generally the one they enjoyed being around the most, their grandmother was very strict. The two had chores to do and learned discipline at a very young age. Ai, their grandmother, had always been harsh in her teaching methods but the sisters learned fast because of it. Although she was hard on them, Ai loved her granddaughters very much. Her reason for being so strict and tough with them was because she didn't want them to be babied in life. It wouldn't do to let them grow slack. After all, in her eyes, a woman should be able to endure and fend for herself. Unlike most women, Ai's life had been all about fighting in her younger years and she valued the idea of a lady being able to fend for herself. She had once been a part of a famed heroic group called the Dragoon Warriors. A group that had long since disbanded into retirement with the wearers of their special armors forsaking them armors and living their lives in peace. A peace that didn't last long. Unfortunately, it lasted long enough for the warriors to grow old so there wasn't anyone yet to take up the mantle of the former warriors.
Ai knew fully well, long before the peace had been broken, that danger would come to Earthsea once more and the worlds around it. After all, she had been there when the Heartless had been a problem. The Dragoon Warriors had managed to take out the Heartless and keep the darkness at bay. However, where there is light there is also darkness. Unfortunately, despite their attempts, it was all for naught. As, Ai figured, were the way of things. Thus, she had begun Asami's training in the basics of fighting at the age of five, when Amaya was five, she too started her training. Which of her granddaughters would inherit her armor, Ai didn't care. After all, their learning to fight was for their benefit. If one of her granddaughters inherited her armor, the more pleased she would be. So, where she was seeking to create a new Dragoon Warrior generation, she wasn't solely fixated on that purpose but to ensure her son's daughters would be able to fend for themselves.
Amaya's and Asami's life went on like this until the two of them were in their teenage years. Asami had just turned sixteen and Amaya was fourteen at the time. Ai, deciding that now would be the time to test their worthiness, had set up a means for them to find her armor. Since she had retired, she had left her armor in another location. Why? Well, she didn't want to risk the armor ending up in the wrong hands. It wasn't a normal armor and where it couldn't be worn by just anyone, there was still the chance it could be used for evil rather than good.
Ai sent Asami and Amaya out to look for a cave out in the nearby mountain range. That finding the cave was a test she had set for them once they entered it. She had simply told them that once they got there, they would need to figure out how to enter. Asami and Amaya had no idea what their grandmother meant then but the two had set out together. It had been a long trek from home to the mountains by foot. The pair of them had made it in a few days. However, finding the cave was another ordeal entirely. No matter how hard they searched for it, the two just couldn't seem to find it. It wasn't until they were about to give up when they discovered the cave on accident. It had been Amaya who had stumbled upon it first. Quite literally, she had fallen down a steep slope and landed in a heap in front of the cavern's mouth. When she recovered from the tumble, Amaya looked upon it. It looked like any cavern mouth. However, when either she or Asami tried to enter, there was an unseen force that pushed them away.
Finally, the sisters knew what their grandmother meant in that they needed to figure out how to enter it. Try as they might, neither could figure out a way to enter the cave. Asami and Amaya would periodically push at the unseen barrier in different angles and spots to see if there was any weakness in the unseen force field. Then, the two resorted on systematically touching the same spot over a set course of time to see if the barrier would ever weaken. Try as they might, neither of these tactics had worked. It seemed like they were expected to try something else. They knew there had to be a way of opening the entrance to the cave. Otherwise, why else would their grandmother say they needed to figure it out? Maybe there was a latch or something that would open it? It had been Amaya that came up with this theory so the two set to work in trying to locate anything out of place that might suggest a way for them to enter that cave.
Sure enough, a vine stuck abnormally outward and rather stiffly. It looked too hard to be considered a normal vine. However, it blended in so well with the vines and flora surrounding the area that it could easily be mistaken for normal flora. Amaya gave the vine a tug and a resonating sound was heard. As the two looked toward the cavern's mouth, there seemed to be a shimmer and then no sound. Glancing at each other, Asami was the first to dare to take a step toward the barrier. After walking several paces, it became clear to them both that whatever they had done, the barrier was now gone and they were finally able to enter the cave's mouth. Amaya made to take a step further but Asami held out her hand and stopped Amaya in her tracks. After a brief protest, Amaya held back after Asami stated that since she was older that she should go on ahead in case what they were going to find was too much for Amaya to handle. Accepting of this, Amaya watched and then soon followed as Asami took the lead.
When the pair of them reached the part of the cavern where Ai had left her armor, the two took pause. Fixated in place, lying dormant rested a white colored dragoon armor. As soon as they had reached where it was, the armor sprang to life. Taking on a battle ready stance, the armor engaged the two in battle. It had been a long fight and a difficult one at that considering the armor had powers that it used on them. It had appeared to be a draw at the end when finally, the armor suddenly stopped, their weapons clashing as they met. Nothing moved until finally, the armor became engulfed in a white light. As it did so, the armor became a sort of light that went for the sisters. Instead of touching Amaya, it went for Asami deciding who would inherit it. Since Asami inherited the white dragoon armor, it made her the newly appointed leader of the next generation of dragoon warriors. Of course, neither of the sisters knew that until finally the pair made their way back home. Only then did Ai finally reveal to them what she had done and what she had in mind for them. It was, in her eyes, their birthright but only if the two were worthy.
Amaya, whom hadn't inherited the armor, felt disappointed. Why wasn't she worthy? She had gone through a lot of extensive training to get to where she was right now. Recognizing the look in Amaya's eyes then, Ai pulled her youngest grand daughter aside and spoke with her. Ai informed her that there were other dragoon armors out there. However, only one would be available to test and see if she would be worthy but it was an armor that was considered wild compared to the rest. It was the black dragoon armor. Where the color alone was thought to be forbidding it was the power behind it that made it unsettling. It was an armor whose power wasn't fully understood. The other dragoon warrior armors were known to instantaneously provide their new wearer with all of its strength, the black dragoon armor did not. In fact, it was strange, as if it were almost a different armor altogether or at least more alive than the others in the sense that it was known to adapt to the wearer's person. Ai believed that Amaya could potentially be meant for that armor. With that, Ai sent Amaya out to go seek it. It was said to have last been left somewhere in the wooded area next to the village some ways over. A trip that, on foot, would take at least two weeks to reach.
Excited about the thought of obtaining the armor, Amaya set out much to Asami's chagrin. Asami, as the elder sibling, often worried about her younger sister's safety. Worried that Amaya would get herself into some sort of trouble, Asami took off after her. The two took another long trip by foot. It had taken a couple of weeks to reach the village that Ai said they needed to get to. Outside of it, in the forest, was where the black armor was said to be. How an armor that was said to be "wild" could be stationed next to a village was beyond their reckoning.
After a brief rest in the village, the two set out into the wooded area in search of the black dragoon armor. Since Ai's white dragoon armor had been set in a cave, the two had believed that maybe it would be concealed somewhere in a cavern as well. They were wrong, however. Searching high and low, neither of them could find the armor and what caves they did find, after traveling within them and returning outside they discovered that their search was in vain. Just where would someone hide such an armor? The answer came to Amaya when she was gazing in thought up at an old and rather thick oak tree. There, in the midst of the tree's bark, rested something peculiar. Blinking, Amaya got to her feet and wandered over. It couldn't be anything normal for a tree to have, that was for sure as she neared it.
Amaya let out a gasp as she realized where the armor was finally kept. Somehow, it was intertwined with the tree's trunk! How in the world were they going to get it out of there? Asami held back, permitting Amaya the chance to examine the armor entombed in the old oak tree. After all, neither of them were certain if armors could pick and choose the same wearer. One would, of course, assume not but for the sake of not risking the idea, Asami allowed Amaya to be the one to go near the black dragoon armor.
Days passed and still Amaya wasn't anywhere closer to getting the armor out of the tree than the next person. Almost giving up, Amaya sat in a huff. As she did so, she realized a little too late that what they had been seeing, although a means for them to know the armor was there, had been an illusion. With a cry, she fell right through a hole in the ground concealed by the illusion. Landing in a heap, Amaya took a brief moment to recuperate from the fall. Above, she could hear Asami's shouts asking if she were alright. Amaya, as she recovered, looked all around. Although it were dimly lit, it seemed that she had happened upon a barrow whose entrance from on high had been concealed purposely with illusions. As she gazed upward, she could see Asami's figure looking tentatively all around on the ground, clearly unable to see the obviously large hole that Amaya had fallen through. So her sister wouldn't panic, Amaya called up to her to inform her that she was alright and that she had discovered something. After saying that she would be back, ignoring Asami's protests, Amaya set off into one of the long tunnels of the barrow.
Surprisingly, the trek in the tunnels hadn't taken her long before she came out into a wide, open space. Amaya's brows rose in awe as she set her eyes upon what she discovered. Standing there, dormant like Ai's white dragoon armor had been, was the black dragoon armor. It lay still in the midst of many glittering and shimmering crystals. The dazzling light that gleamed from these crystals danced over the glistening surface of the black armor as if time never touched it. Now, it was time to take on the real test. Surely, the armor would spring to life like the other had done to test her skill. What Amaya didn't realize was that each armor had its own way of testing its next wearer to see if they were worthy.
As soon as Amaya neared it, her weapon drawn, what happened next surprised her. Instead of springing to life like Asami's armor had done, the black dragoon armor remained still. However, the helmet seemed to be facing Amaya purposely. Allured by the armor's mysterious beauty, Amaya nervously reached out and touched it. When she did, Amaya was sucked into a dark void. Standing alone, Amaya looked all around her with worry. Where was she? Then, she heard it. The low, thundering rumble of a growl of something massive. Before long, red eyes gleamed out from the darkness, staring at her. Each eye had to be the size of a dinner plate but slender and slit like that of a feline's.
Amaya, although she wanted to run, knew there was no place for her to hide from whatever it was that was in the darkness. After a moment, a voice was heard. It was a gravelly, deep voice and although it spoke in English it clearly wasn't human. It was asking her who she was and then asked her a series of questions. Strangely enough, before she could verbally answer the questions it asked of her, it shot another series of questions as if it could already hear the answers that lay in her own heart. The voice sounded as if it were having a conversation with her where she wasn't actually able to voice her answers, rather her heart or thoughts were what was replying to the voice before more questions were asked. Things went on like this for a while and surprisingly, the one sided conversation seemed to be flowing rather well.
There was a sudden hush, Amaya forced to remain put as the red eyes seemed to survey her for a moment. Then, with a blink, the red eyes were gone and the voice gone, leaving her alone in the silent void. Only then did Amaya realize that the dark void was fading away. As the void faded away, the gloom revealed the wide open space she had been in with the armor but the armor was now gone. Furrowing her brows, Amaya looked all around for it before suddenly, the voice came from nowhere again. It told her that it had chosen her. Only then did Amaya realize that the voice that had been speaking to her had been the armor. Amaya's grandmother hadn't been kidding when she said that the armor seemed to be more alive than the others.
When Amaya and Asami returned home, Ai was pleased to see that now both of her granddaughters had inherited dragoon armors. Since there hadn't been any keyblade warriors in Earthsea for quite some time, the Dragoon Warriors were considered the next best thing. Unfortunately, years had passed since any Dragoon Warriors were even present. Ai hoped that her former comrades had been of the same mindset in finding others to inherit the armors and carry on their legacy. She didn't have long to ponder this over before a letter was received from an old friend notifying her of a visit...and then another letter and then another. It seemed the former Dragoon Warriors wished to meet with Ai.
Upon arrival, it became clear to Ai and her granddaughters just what their reunion was all about. Much like Ai, her former comrades had been searching for worthy heirs to their armors. It was here that Amaya and Asami had met their three best friends for the very first time. Their names were Stella Smith, Dante Williams and Reiko Fuji. The five of them formed friendship rather quickly, some much swifter than other's. From that day on, the five spent time together sparring and training hard. The five of them got to know each other well and before long, their predecessors deemed them ready enough to set out and bring down the darkness and the Heartless.
Their group was very successful and strong. Soon, the name of the Dragoon Warriors spread far and wide throughout the world. Even going as far as seeping out into the other worlds as well. Where they were protecting mainly their own world, they could spread out into the other worlds before returning home to help those worlds in need. Their reign lasted for a few years before those of ill will decided now was time to end it.
It was a day like any other. The five Dragoon Warriors took out the usual horde of Heartless and were about ready to head back home. Nothing could have prepared them for what was to happen next. The skies above turned suddenly from light to dark and a wind picked up that hadn't been there before. Clouds from on high swirled in a circular formation as if something had taken up an invisible spoon and stirred them about. Then, five creatures appeared. Five creatures with wide open, gaping maws and wide eye sockets with no eyes nor eyelids. If it weren't for their twisted features they would've been mistaken for normal human beings. An eerie hum was heard. Before either of them knew it, a great, dark mist swept over them and into their lungs.
When the mist cleared, Amaya found herself hunched on the ground coughing and spluttering. Daring to glance over at the others, she soon realized something was amiss. All of the others had collapsed. Unsure of what was happening, Amaya suspected that they had just been poisoned. If they were poisoned, however, she wondered how she had managed to survive the poisoning. After all, she had breathed in the mist much like the other four. Worried for her sister, Amaya rushed to Asami's side first. Holding her sister in her arm's, she had thought that her sister had died on her.
One by one, the other three got to their feet quite suddenly as if nothing had happened. None of them moved nor said a word as they stood there. Confused, Amaya called over to each of them but none of them responded. It were as if they had become living statues. While she had been distracted, Asami had also awakened. Without warning, she lashed out at Amaya sending her flying several feet away from her. Surprised by the attack, Amaya shouted at her sister asking her why she had done that. All she received in response was a high and cruel laugh. It was echoed by the other three warriors. A sudden, dark realization had struck Amaya then. Where these were her friends and sister, they weren't acting like it. In fact, they weren't at all themselves and that laughter was highly uncharacteristic to their individual laughs.
No...this couldn't be...
What had once been her friends and sister, Amaya had soon realized that the whole lot of them had suddenly become possessed by something. Why Amaya remained the only one that hadn't been possessed, she didn't know. It seemed as if they didn't know either. Soon, her friends and sister all turned on her. The four of them beat Amaya until she was an inch from death. Leaving her there to die, the four of them left the area to wreak havoc on the land and taint the name of the Dragoon Warriors throughout Earthsea and the other worlds. Lucky to escape just barely with her life, Amaya spent a lot of time healing and recuperating.
When she was well, Amaya remained in hiding as she researched on what happened to her friends and sister. Unfortunately, no matter how hard she delved, it seemed the answers she sought after weren't any better than she had hoped. No matter how she looked at it, it was up to her to make a tough decision. A decision that would likely tear her up inside. Steeling herself, Amaya realized what it was that she must do. After all, if she can't do it...who can? It was her burden to carry and her burden alone. What Amaya doesn't realize now is that things are about to change and she's about to meet others along the way during and after her quest. Will she still be the same person or will she become a mere shadow of her former self?
