" Well I've been through worse," Riley said.
" Like what?" Seamus asked.
" Getting married. Went through it twice and now I'm stuck withboth again," Riley laughed. Then he thought about what he said. " Please don't tell my wives!"
" Why are you scared of them?"
" Yes I mean no! I just don't think they'll find the joke funny and I don't want to die."
" Man up Riley."
" Do you see a man?"
" ...... you win this round."
" We need to get going," Zero said. There were more stairs that led up. It led to a long hallway that seemed to go on forever. The floor was covered in a red carpet with gold ends. The walls were gray and lined with paintings. They were of a royalty of some sort. The very first one was of the king. He had an aura of darkness around him as he held the sword. The sword itself had a golden handle and a red blade.
The very next one was of the same castle that they saw before. The hallway ended with the only two ways to go being left or right. Down the left it led to an old door with a lock on it. Down the right it led to a stange glass room. The glass room seemed like a maze of some sort.

David laughed as they went up to the next floor. As they passed the picture of the king, he noticed the sword. "Well, at least we know what the sword looks like now." When they reached the fork, he looked down both sides, only to sigh at the sight of the glass maze. "I hate mazes."
He turned back to the old door and summoned Shattered Sunset. One tap on the lock was enough to release it, and his keyblade vanished soon after. He hadn't opened the door yet, and suddenly started talking like a game show host. "And now, we discover what's behind door number one!" He swiftly opened the door after that, bracing himself for any traps.

When David opened the door nothing jumped out at him. The floor did not break nor did it rise up. Nothing sucked them into a different world. Not a sound was made, not even a scream. When the door opened there was a brick wall there. On that wall was a sticky note that read " Sorry, but your path is in another direction. Love Ren."
Riley watched as David opened the door and was confused. Why would here be a door there if there was nothing behind it. " Who puts a door in the middle of a wall" He asked. He then saw that there was something on the wall. It coild have been a note about construction at a later date. " What does it say David?"

David stared at the note in confusion for a moment, then turned back to the rest. "It says 'sorry, but your path is in another direction. Love, Ren.' I guess that tells us he's been here already." He walked back to the fork and pointed to the glass maze. "That also means that we have to go through this."
David started down the hall, but stopped just before entering the room itself. "My suggestion would be to break through the glass instead of navigating the maze. Of course, that could trigger something unpleasant too."

" That does sound like him," Riley sighed. " So he did best us here after all." Riley didn't want to go through the maze. He hated mazes with a passion. All they did was slow him down, the one thing he couldn't stand. " Guess we have no coice then. Off we go." He walked too feet into the maze before he hit a glass wall.
Seamus shook his head. " Well this is a great started." Seamus started feeling the glass as he went along. At every deadend there were notes from Ren. Through the glass he could see a door with no handle, and no lock. It was made of metal. On a different wall he saw a lever. " Oh great, just great. Not only do we need to find our way to that door, but find a way to that lever too." After a while he made it to the door by accident, he wanted to find the lever first. "I found the way to the door, now one of you find your way tomthe lever so we can get out of here.

A quickly suppressed chuckle escaped David's lips as Riley walked right into the first wall. Thankfully, hitting the walls seemed to be completely safe, beyond the actually hitting part of course. With that in mind, David followed Seamus into the maze until he mentioned the lever.
He turned off into another path leading that direction. "I'm on it." Within a few turns he found himself at a dead end. Ignoring the note, he turned and took a different way. Repeating this helped him make a mental map of where he was, and a few more minutes left him standing next to the lever. "Just because I hate mazes doesn't mean I'm not good at them. Here we go!"
With that, he pulled the lever and started running back to the door.

When the lever was pulled the door swung open and the others went inside. It led into a stone room lit by candles. On the wall in front of them was a map. It seemed to be a bigger version of the map they found, but only it covered a wider area. At the very north end of the map there was a ground of clouds, and what seemed to be a city on top of them. At the very south end of the map there was a thick fog, and a dark castle in it. In the dead center of the map it seemed like a barren wasteland.
The map showed a very detailed version of the country they were in. It even showed the stone path and all the places it went to. It included the ruins, the prison, the other city, and that lone tower. Beside the map there was writing. It was written in a very strange language. Riley looked at it closely. He was able to understand it. " Here lies the one map to the sealed away sword. Among these places are the keys to breaking the seal. One in the prison, one in the castle, one in the ruins, one in the city of the dead, one in the tower of chaos, and the last one lies within the barren wasteland. Once these keys are found the gateway to the city of light will be ooened, but only by warriors of the keyblade can open that gateway. That gateway leads to the city of light that is in the clouds. There is no one alive there at the time of writing. The sword was sealed away there for safekeeping, so it does not fall into the wrong hands again. If any warrior of the keyblade is reading this please, open the gateway and destroy the sword. It must be destroyed by a keyblade, only then will the cursed blade be truly destroyed."

David looked at each area in turn as Riley read the strange writing. It seemed that there was more than one key, or maybe the key was split into multiple pieces. Regardless, it meant that the group still had a lot of ground to cover. Still, there was one good thing to this whole situation. "At least we know the prince can't get to the sword before us. I wouldn't be surprised if he's just waiting for us to open that gate though."
He sighed and looked over the areas again. "Let's see, we've already got the key from the prison, so that leaves all five of the others. I'm going to let you guys decide the next one we go after. I get the feeling that each one is going to be guarded by something though."

As Riley read the writing Zero started thinking. There were five other places to go, and five other keys to get. And here he thought all they had to do is find the sword and use the one key Riley found. He looked at their location on the map. It seemed the castle was the greatest distance away. The ruins, tower, and other city were the same distance away.
" I think we should go to the ruins first," Zero said. " It was circled on the other map we found. I have a feeling someone is there looking for the key there. And if they were in this tower they would know about the keyblade part, so there's no doubt in my mind the prince has, or is getting, someone who has a keyblade on his side. Worst case scenario the prince has a keyblade."
" If we go to the ruins first we'll have to go to the castle next," Kai said. " It's very far away, best get that out the way after that, then we won't have to worry about going all the way south for too long."

David crossed his arms over his chest as he mentally mapped everything out. After a few minutes, he nodded and started pointing in order. "Right, Zero has a point about the ruins, so we really should go there first. I also agree with going to the castle next, followed by the city and finally the tower. The tower will be the most dangerous probably, since it will be indoors again."
He nodded again, then gave the map one more look. "I'm pretty good at remembering maps, so we shouldn't get lost even though this one is too big to take with us. We should get to the ruins before something else gets that key."

Zero nodded to David. " Then after the tower it hust leaves the wasteland," It seemed they had a lot of traveling to do for this quest. He didn't have a problem with this. Most worlds he went to didn't have any other way to get around. " This will be one of the biggest quest we ever go on. Right now it looks like we are the only ones who can take up this quest. We cannot fail, the fate of this whole world is in our hands."
Riley looked at the map again. David might have thought it was too big but he thought otherwise. He carefully took it down and started folding it. After a while he tucked it away somewhere no one would be able to get to without a fight. " Just in case we get lost in that wasteland or in the forest. You never no."
Zero led them out of the tower and back on the stone path. After getting out of the valley they made it back to where David marked the tree. The ruins were to the west of where they were, and deep in the forest. They started going through the forest. When theygot into the forest the sounds of animals returned. So did the fog and the clouds covering the night sky.

"Wow, I didn't think that thing would fit anywhere. Guess I was wrong." David shrugged and followed the rest out of the tower, past the edge of the city, and back to the original tree next to the crossroads. As they continued west, the returning sounds of life brought a smile to David's face. The lost city had been far too quiet for his tastes.
The walk thus far had been very uneventful, to the point that David actually started humming softly to alleviate the boredom. He never could just create a melody on the spot, but his mind seemed to embed any music he listened to more than once into memory. Soon it was clear for anyone that knew the tune that he was humming Light up the Sky by Yellowcard.

Before long they were at the ruins. They were completely made of stone and was onely onestory tall. There were broken stone pillars scattered in front of the ruins. Some were still standing, others were on the ground. The thick fog turned into a light mist around the place. A circle of trees surrounded the area. The main part of the ruins were covered in moss and vines.
There were three openings to the main part of the ruins. One was a starway that led underground. One was an old doorway that had the stone that blocked it pushed to the side. The last one was between a rusty gate that had old chains on it. Each pathway was dark with little light coming from them. In the dead center of the yard there was a broken statue, it seemed to have been of a hero of some sort. What was left was part of a sword, and old writing that was far beyond reading.

David contemplated which entrance to use, staring back and forth between them. For some reason, his ability to sense Light, Twilight, and Darkness had been on the fritz since he arrived on this world, almost as if everything was suppressing it's power. Once again there was no life to view the auras of either. It seemed they'd have to guess which entrance to use.
"I wish Jennifer and Jason were here. We'd be able to split into three parties if they were, but I'd be too worried about leaving anyone alone as it is." He continued to stare at the three possibilities for a few more minutes, before making up his mind. "If the key is still here, chances are it's underground being guarded by something."

Out of the three paths the one that went underground was the most likely to lead to the key. Then again there was that off chance it was one of the other paths that led to it. The ruins weren't that big, so if there was anything big guarding the key it was most likely underground.
" Going underground is out best bet," Kai said. " If anything we could always work our way up if we're wrong. Better to do up in a place you don't know then going down."
Zero looked at the path that had a stone next to it. " There's a chance that stone was pushed out of the way so someone could go that way. But there's no telling when it was moved. If we go down there will be no way for anyone to tell we went that way. If anything we would have an advantage when it comes to the element of surprise."

David nodded at Zero's words, but remained still for the moment. "I still think that underground is the best bet, but I haven't been able to sense things properly since I got here. Normally I can sense Heartless or people particularly powerful in Light, Darkness, or Twilight from almost a half mile off, but here I couldn't even sense the Heartless in the cave or prison until I could see them."
Then he got an idea. "Even if they get one of the keys and somehow have a keyblade wielder on their side, the door won't open until ALL the keys are gathered anyhow. Even if we go underground and they found the key up here, they still need our key to get in. Therefore, they would have to find us anyhow."

"Well then, I guess we're going underground." Zero said. " Let's get that key!"
Down the stairs they went. There was little light because of the outside, but as they were further down ot became darker. Kai's eyes started glowing, acting as a weak flash light for everyone. It wasn't long until the stairs took them to a wide hallway. The hallway had torches along the walls that lit the way. Down the hallway was an old black door that was sealed. It had the ingraving of what looked like a gray version of the key they found in the prison. There were two key holes in the door, both locked.
" Well we now know they couldn't have gotten in there," Riley said as he summon2 his keyblade. " Let's unlock this door David."
The sound of a heavy breathing could be heard from the other side of the door. It obviously wasn't human but something beastly. Whatever it was it sounded big, and unfriendly. It had to be the guardian of the key. It was the only thing that could have been on the other side.

David followed the others down the stairs, noticing Kai's eyes about halfway down. "Now that's a cool trick Kai." Soon after they found themselves at the door. "Right. Let's do this." Just as he was about to unlock his half the noises reached his ears. What ever that thing was, it wasn't going to give them a chance to talk.
"Get ready to attack guys. The instant this door opens that thing is probably going to charge." Bracing himself, he hit the key hole with a beam from the tip of his keyblade, then kicked the door in. Without even glancing around he slammed his keyblade into the ground, launching a Crystal Genesis in the direction of the noises. Even if it didn't hit, it should keep the group from being trampled by whatever the beat was.

After unlocking his part of the door he went in, followed by the others. The door led to a dead in room. But it was huge. There was a line of pillars on each side, and the floor was blue. In the dead center of the room there was a huge dragon heartless sleeping. On its forehead was a purple square, similar to the key Riley found. It was jet black with golden markings all over its body. It had dark purple claws and fangs. Its underbelly was gray down to the tip of its tail. There was something strange about the dragon, along its body there were strange orbs on it, like eyelids.
The crystal genesis went acroos the room, hitting the dragon dead in its face. The dragon's eyes ooened quickly, and were glowing red. It got up on all fours, hot steam coming from it's nostrils. It's eyes locked on the group of heroes, it growled at them as the key went deep inside its body. The eyelids along it's body opened, all with red eyes. There was nearly a thousand of them, each protected by a red patch of skin, but all could still see clearly. It led out a might roar that shook not only the room, by the ruins itself.

"Great, another huge dragon Heartless! Gotta admit though, those eyes are kinda freaky." David mentally triggered hit Lightblade ability in the hopes that it would help cut through the darkness that made up the Heartless' skin. He then charged straight for the thing's head, only to take one quick spins to the right about two feet away. This resulted in him running down the side of the beast.
"Let's take a few of these things out!" He sliced at each eye he passed until he reached the base of the dragon's tail. He then kicked off of it's rear, jumping about ten feet away from the thing. "Our best chance is to surround it. It can't hit all of us at once that way!"
