The moon gleamed along the seashore, the nightly ships were dancing across it's waters, and the bells were singing. This night was peaceful along the docks, well, almost. "Give me back my damn boat you filthy scalawag!" bellowed an enraged captain as he was in a parry with a lowly pirate, who had a bag of loot that he'd stolen him." He continued to swing at him, "She is mine, thieves get punished severely, they feel the end of my cutlass with their vocal chords." He threatened the pirate. He seemed to have the upper hand as he was making excellent swordplay, of course, as a captain, he should be. However, the pirate kept his emotions in a more cool manner, he didn't get excited nor nervous, he wasn't under confident nor cocky. Which, the captain was failing at, he felt as if he were definitely going to have the upper hand and keep it. He held back because he liked a good fight before killing his opponent. The captain was parrying well, block left, deflect right. Then, a blade swam into the gut of the captain. Blood gushed out of his abdominals, he sank to his knees. Then, the pirate smirked, "I guess punishment isn't that bad, if that was all you had to dish out." Then, he threw the captain on his own vessel, ring the bell, "Medic!" Then, he jumped back onto the dock and looked back at the injured captain, "That was a warning! Tell all of the Caribbean of my name, "Stone. Landon Stone. I shall be the most feared pirate of the seven seas." He walked of off the docks with a sack in his hand and it was filled with gold. "Jackpot!" Then, he walked toward the pub near the seashore. He entered the tavern, and went straight to the bartender. He slapped the bag of doubloons on the bar, "However many rounds this will buy." The bartender happily obliged by handing him a shot glass. Landon raised his glass of rum, "Next round on me, to Captain Stone!" The rest of the tavern cheered along, "To Captain Stone!" Landon was, however, only a self-proclaimed captain.

Jasmine had not been there to witness what happened before Landon entered the tavern. Rather, mere seconds after he walked in the doors, she walked around the corner and came to a halt momentarily, casting her brown eyes over the view before her. She paused to take in a slow, gentle breath through her nostrils and then exhale softly through her mouth. A rare smile came to the beautiful young lady's lips; she always had been fond of the scent of the sea, and always found it rather refreshing to take in. There was a gentle breeze out here, carrying that beautiful scent to her and gently teasing at her jet-black hair that flowed down past her shoulders, like liquid frozen in time.
Her son was not with her. She had instructed him to wait somewhere safe for her to come back. Thus, now, she was alone.
"This place seems...pleasant," she whispered, speaking to herself, in an accent that you or I would recognise as an Irish brogue. "I suppose we can stay here a little longer than expected..."
Jasmine was cut off by the sound of cheering from inside the nearby tavern (this was the chanting of Landon's name that had occurred), drawing her attention to it. She wasn't someone who often went into such establishments, as she hardly ever got the chance thanks to being on the move all the time, but in this instance, she felt somehow compelled to enter.
Curious, Jasmine walked into the tavern; glancing around, she noticed that she appeared to be the only woman present in the room, at least at that moment. Maintaining her usual calm, she quietly walked over to the bar and took a seat, which was a couple of seats away from where Landon was. She didn't speak to him just yet; she rarely ever was the one to start conversation, anyway.

Landon took his shot, and barely flinched. Of course, he didn't. He had been drinking since he was a teenager, when he was a part of the crew. He noticed a woman a couple seats from him, she seemed new to the place. She, obviously, hadn't been to the area before. She was dressed differently, she talked differently, and she smelled differently. Almost, otherworldly. Yes, that's it! She must have been from another world, she could help him find his long-lost brother! He could have his crew after all! She would be the ticket out of here. He smiled to the bartender, "One shot for me, and a glass of white wine for the lady over here," he said, pointing at the woman. He turned to the woman, "You've never been here before, have you?"

Jasmine blinked in total surprise as the stranger sat a few seats away proceeded to order a drink for himself and for her; it was not a gesture she had expected, and wasn't entirely sure how to react to it. She looked over at the man as he addressed her; he seemed...much more at home in this world than she was, like he had been here much longer than she had. Well, that wasn't that hard, as she had only been there for just over a day. She gave a small, polite smile as she gave her reply. "No, I haven't," Jasmine replied. "I like it, though. I always did like the scent of the sea. It's a simple thing, but I am rather fond of it." She paused for a moment, then decided to speak again. "I take it that you, though, have been here much longer than me?"

"Of course, I have," Landon replied, progressively developing a resentful tone, "I've been here all my life. Every. Damn. Day. All there is to do here is drink, there has to be more than this." He sunk down his shot of rum, again, unflinchingly. He smiled at her, "I'm Landon. What's your story?" He said as he motioned to the bartender for another drink.

It seemed Jasmine suspicions were correct, as her new acquaintance confirmed that he did live on this world. When he introduced himself to her, asking her what her 'story' was, she paused for a moment to consider her reply before at last smiling and speaking up again. "Firstly, the name's Jasmine, " she responded, politely. "Secondly... Well, long story short, myself and my son are on the run, through no fault of our own. Though I dare say you wouldn't believe the exact circumstances, even if I told you..."

Landon was actually interested in listening to her story. She wasn't boring to him to any extent. He looked at her in slight shock "Your son?! You're much too young to have children." He wanted to hear more about her on the run, it intrigued him. Maybe, if he heard everything, maybe he could find a way to benefit from it. "Long story?" He gazed fascinatedly into her eyes, "I have a long night, then" cuing her to proceed with a warm welcome. Well, warm-ish.

Jasmine blinked, hesitating a little, evidently somewhat reluctant about continuing. However, it seemed as though the stranger was not of harm to her or her son... Maybe it would be safe to tell him of her past? After a moment or two, she decided that it would indeed be safe to tell Landon a bit more about her; a slight sigh escaped her lips, then she spoke up again. "I was part of a secret project, dedicated to creating the perfect organic weapon," she began. "That is, I was one of the 'test subjects'...the thirteenth in total, and the only one to survive once the genetic modifications had been made. Hence why I have this." She raised her right hand, showing him her palm, and the Roman numeral of the number thirteen tattooed on it. "I don't want to recall the hideous experiments I was forced to undergo..." Jasmine went on. "But, again to make a long story short, it was decided a 'back up' of myself would be created, in case I took a turn for the worse. Thus, my DNA was extracted and tampered with, and through some artificial ageing and growth processes, my son was created. We remained trapped in the facility for some time...until I broke us out... Now we're on the run."
