About the Character
Character Personality:
The Vagabond was initially a kindhearted, outgoing and positive person. After the events that brought the Vagabond to the Realm of Darkness, as well as residing in that realm for almost two years, his light has dimmed quite a bit. Determined is now the best word to describe him... or perhaps "one-track minded". There are still bits of his old self poking out, a sarcastic quip or jibe, the impatience that keeps him frustrated if a problem can't be immediately fixed-there are still indeed parts of him there. The major parts are missing, though. Due to his struggle with finding inner balance, the Vagabond has become highly focused on projecting that balance onto the world around him.
The Vagabond is inquisitive—though at the same time disinterested. Curious as to what makes hearts tick, rise and fall, he must maintain some interest in interpersonal relationships — though how does a wandering recluse force this upon themselves? The Vagabond is afraid of getting close with other hearts, terrified he with either corrupt them due to his own imbalance or let them down.
Overall he is not a mean or negative person, simply someone who has dealt with a lot of loss, pain and darkness. Because of this the Vagabond is normally withdrawn, quiet and typically only interacts with those in need. The reason for this is not wholly heroic, but much more on a base level of wanting there to be balance between light and dark—a balance he has had to struggle to find himself.
The Vagabond has a distinct hatred of NeoShadows. He will not explain this to anyone.
Character Appearance:
The Vagabond is tall and broad in frame, standing at 6'5". He has medium length hazelnut hair, which could certainly use a trim or "neatening up", as it's constantly disheveled. His face is littered with light scruff that matches his hair color. His eyes are a dull green in color, his complexion pale from his time in the Realm of Darkness (as well as typically wearing a hood). He is fit from an active lifestyle but by no means trains. The only distinct markings on his body are the tattoo beneath his left collar bone, a single lavender flower, as well as a heartless emblem on his left hand.
Because of the heartless emblem, the Vagabond rocks a single black fingerless glove. He mainly covers himself with olive colored cargo pants (the cargo pockets on the side usually brimming with an odd array of items) and dark navy high top shoes that are weather resistant. His torso is usually covered by a long, knee-length unbuttoned hooded jacket, which is a steel blue. Beneath the jacket is a white t-shirt with a large tidal wave graphic on the front. Around his neck is a simple leather thread necklace with a stone pendant. The stone is a dark green and blue, almost looking as though the ocean were residing in it.
Character Hobbies/Activities:
Before the events that brought the Vagabond to the Realm of Darkness he had been an active gardener. Now his only "hobby" or "activity" that makes him happy is studying and researching the heartless and hearts.
Battle Statistics
Character Position: Neutral
Character Spells:
Potion- Being a homeless wanderer, the Vagabond has found many items on his travels. He can use a potion to heal him of minor damage. [1 Post cooldown. 4 use limit per battle.]
Dark Fira- Launches a ball of dark flames at a single target. Travels up to 30m in distance, slightly hones in on the target. Deals moderate damage. [2 post cooldown]
Dark Meteor- The user hurls a massive meteor of dark and fire energy towards the foe. The meteor is 25ft in diameter and can travel a distance of up to 30m. It explodes on impact for maximum damage, harming any opponents in a 10ft radius of the impact zone. [4 post cooldown]
Character Abilities:
The Vagabond doesn’t really have any extraordinary abilities on his own. He is a normal human. Despite this, it is because of his brothers heart of darkness inside of him that allows him to accomplish superhuman feats at times.
High Jump- The Vagabond can summon upon his brothers strength and have the large Darkside arms that appear push him off the ground. This allows him to jump exceedingly high, reaching up to 20ft in the air (think two story building).
Unconditional Love- Whenever in peril, the Vagabond’s brother will assist him. The darkside body parts that appear can act of their own accord, with or without the Vagabonds wishes in mind. Because of this there are moments where the limbs will appear and shield the Vagabond from critical harm- sometimes even assisting him in escaping.
Dark Portal- Due to his connection with darkness, the Vagabond can create portals of darkness, allowing him to move between worlds.
Touched by Darkness- Due to his time spent in the Realm of Darkness, as well as having his brother’s heart of darkness within him, the Vagabond is very resistant to most dark energies. Obviously this is limited in terms of anything that would deal direct damage, but more so the fact he is not weakened by dark energy (i.e: the underworld wouldn’t bother him as much as some, or if he were to return to the Realm of Darkness he wouldn’t feel as weak as others).
Inexperience- The Vagabond was by no means an active fighter before his visit to the Realm of Darkness. The main reason he survived was due to the bond with his brother, which provided a powerful enough light to keep him safe. Though he now has the powers of the Darkside within him, he does not necessarily have a good fighting form or even a lot of fighting know-how. Because of this inexperience, it can be easy for enemies to gain the upper hand when it comes to combat.
Character Forms/Command Styles:
Lost In the Dark- Due to the fact the Vagabond holds his brothers fallen heart and relies on their powers of darkness, the Vagabond needs to maintain a balance of light and dark. If he relies too heavily on his brothers powers, the darkness will begin to corrupt his own heart. If this happens, darkness will begin to consume the Vagabond—who will then suffer damage and be in a weakened and more wild state that will shorten his reasoning and his differentiation of friend or foes. The Vagabond will normally pass out after reverting from this form, leaving him vulnerable. [5 post duration.]
Character Weapons:
Brotherly Love: The Vagabond doesn’t actually have any physical weapons of his own. The closest thing he has is the help of his now heartless brother. Whenever the Vagabond fights, large Darkside arms emerge from his body from his back (like wings). These are how he fights. They mimic his own arm movements and can be used offensively or defensively.

Character History:
The Vagabond doesn’t recall what his home world was called. He forgot after he cast aside his name, claiming that that individual “had died”. Visually, he can remember how beautiful his home had been- a quiet town, lush with green flora and gentle breezes that came from the coast just a town over. Sleepy. That’s how he had used to enjoy things. The small but coveted bungalow, with it’s two windows that were always dirty somehow, the stone steps leading to the back. There was never any power on, but he had grown accustomed to the soft glow of candles, the shadows they cast and the way the flame swayed. He does remember his life beforehand, though hates to recall it.
The Vagabond was originally a standard average joe, so to speak. He was a committed older sibling, having no other family, doting over his younger brother Lief. The two were orphaned when the Vagabond was 16, still a student. Ah… that’s right, he almost always forgot about the days before those parental burdens. Dropping out of school, he had worked two jobs tirelessly, ensuring his younger brother would get the education he himself would miss out on. They were hard years, but happy ones. Everything was normal, lazy, even.
Years later, when the Vagabond himself was 22, his younger brother now almost a full adult, the rhyme and reason to which the two lived their lives shook. It had started small at first, sightings of small odd creatures at night time in the smaller towns. Soon it had been on all the largest news stations, on any tv within any household- giant creatures attacking cities. The two hardly had a chance when their world fell to the Dark.
It all happened too fast.
There was only one thing that the Vagabond cared for when everything else around him was beginning to fall-Lief. Because of this bond, the Vagabonds heart did not fail him when his world collapsed and fell to the beings known as the Heartless. He had vowed to protect his younger brother, and because of this saw the Darkness as a means to escape rather than to perish. The two found themselves in the Realm of Darkness, as the Vagabond had opened his own heart to it as a means of salvation.
Any who have traveled to that Realm must know the horrors that await. Imagine, two individuals with absolutely no weapons, knowledge or know-how stumbling upon such a place? It was a catastrophe. Though positive at first, the Vagabond quickly had realized his mistake of allowing the two to come here. Having no means of fighting the Heartless that would emerge and swarm the only sources of light within was surely suicide. The two had no idea what these creatures were, or how to survive.
The Vagabond primarily relied on his wits and legs, finding Lief and him escape routes whenever they would run into the demons. This only worked for a short time, as the two grew exhausted and the Realm of Darkness is known for its toll. They emerged upon a shore, one from which they could gaze upon the only source of light they had seen since emerging to this horrific place, a full moon. It was this shore that became Lief’s grave.
The two brothers were swarmed by the Heartless. Despite the Vagabond’s best efforts, he was unable to save his brother, witnessing him being slain by a NeoShadow before his very eyes. The sheer sight of it all almost caused him to lose all hope right then and there. Before he could even properly mourn this loss, Lief’s heart rose above his body and began to swirl with dark energy. Due to the sheer amount of Darkness around them and the recent stress and trauma this visit had put on him, Lief’s transformation was gargantuan despite there being a small amount of Darkness in his heart.
Lief’s heart began turning into a DarkSide.
Overwhelmed by terror, heartache and hatred, the Vagabond only had one thought in mind. He still saw a dim light glimmer from within the dark as the Darkside began to form. While not fully complete, his brother was vulnerable. He could save him. The Vagabond rushed towards his brother’s heart, thinking only one thought: “I will protect you!”
There was a brilliant light.
Blinding-
and for the last time, the Vagabond heard his brother say his name.
Can there be only one vessel for two hearts?
The Vagabond awoke on the same shore, though there were no Heartless around. His brother was not gone-but within him. He had not realized this at first, but had felt it from within. It was with this stunning miracle that the Vagabond solidified his hope. If he could find a way to release a heart, revert it from the taint of darkness and put it into a new body…
The Vagabond cast aside his name after escaping the Realm of Darkness. It took him almost two years to learn how to control the imbalance within him, to not allow the dark heart residing dormant within him to take over. Now he has set upon a new mission, traveling upon worlds in order to research the Heartless and the workings of the heart.
Writing Portion
Sample Post:
“Damn it!” A loud shout rang through the forgotten sewer tunnels of Radiant Garden. Beneath the revitalized city were old tubes that snaked through water ridges and formed shelter for the few homeless vagrants that may seek shelter from the rain. If one were to steal their courage and wander far into these pipe systems, they would stumble upon a small, makeshift home. Within the alcove of one tube, lit by a large grate at the top of one some forty feet up, there were cardboard walls, old sheets with holes in them hoisted up as tapestries and one man within the center of it all.
The Vagabond.
Currently cursing and throwing a broken mug with old coffee in it through one of the cardboard walls, was a man in his early twenties who certainly could use a haircut. “Any time I get close to teasing the heart out they die! It’s a mess! One big mess!” He kicked the box nearest to him, the one he had been using as a makeshift lab table. The Vagabond had never been a man of much practical knowledge, but he needed to understand how the Heartless worked. Ah.. the Heartless…
Creatures of Darkness, emerging from the darkness that resides within people’s hearts. They’ll appear and devour you in the same breath. The Vagabond had learned the name of his foe from a stoic man in a leather coat he had met when he first traveled here. What was his name? Squail? Leopard? Well, whoever he was, the stranger had been a big help in filling him in on what the creatures were-though he didn’t help much in regards to how they worked. It had been four months since the Vagabond had returned to Radiant Garden with his latest test subject. For four months he had tried to tease the heart out of a NeoShadow.
They were always NeoShadow’s, his test subjects.
“Well, since this one bit the dust I guess I’ll have to get another one.” The Vagabond sighed. He hated hard labor. With a groan he went to the corner and grabbed a musty knee-length hooded jacket, steel blue in color. He threw it over his old white t-shirt with the tidal wave graphic and rubbed his hands together. Looking down at his left hand caused him to grimace as he shook his head. “Ah.. almost forgot.” He reached into one of his jacket pockets and pulled out a thin black fingerless glove. Pulling it over his left hand, he reached out in front of him, grasping into the dark.
A portal opened. With one final look around, the Vagabond went in.
