Tsumiko was startled by the sudden voice that spoke from beside her. It caused her to jump a little as her eyes shot up. The man sitting upon the fountain's wall with her was curious in appearance, to say the least. What caught her attention the most was the emerald colored blindfold tied around his head. It made her wonder what the story was behind it. And why he sounded so... emotionally colorless. She pondered his question, turning so her back faced the fountain. Kicking her feet one at a time, the songstress hummed in thought.
"Hmm... It's not that I don't like parties, I actually enjoy them quite a bit. That's just it, though. I tend to enjoy them too much..." It also went without saying that there were far too many people inside, many of which would have had her thrown out without a second thought. Balls were an aristocratic even meant to entertain those with titles granted by royalty. Tipping her head to the side, a knuckle to her chin, eyes closed, Tsumiko pondered what it meant to have a title. Her thoughts were broken by yet another unexpected appearance. Blinking, her silver-blue eyes turned upon the woman that had just arrived. What she said would have held true in most everything, but there were some things that just weren't meant to be.
"Well, I would agree if it weren't something meant only for a few. Balls like these are for the privileged. There is nothing to make beautiful out of it if the only attendees are those who are content with their self-centered ways," the songstress looked at the woman with a gentle smile. An after thought had caused her to giggle. "Though there's no rules saying that you can't make your own ball for yourself and the people. Nay? One were everyone can gather and create something unique without the judging eyes of the royals."
Standing to her feet, Tsumiko brushed her hands against the skirt of her dress. Lacing her fingers behind her back, she looked to the two people before her with a bright smile. "But where are my manners. My name is Tsumiko."

It was a warm night, sometime in midsummer. The sun had set long ago, bowing to the Lady Moon and her glimmering stars. The light she cast was enough to make clear the landscape and all it held. One of the most breath-taking things in that very landscape was a towering structure made of smooth stone. The light of the moon paled against the light the castle seemed to give off naturally. Hues of pinks and blues tinted the white walls of the castle in an elegant fashion. Getting closer, one would notice the singular road leading to that castle. And at the end of that road? The castle's courtyard. Centered within it was a single simple, yet sophisticated square fountain. The light cast from the castle's inner chambers made the water within it glimmer with its reflection.
Sitting on the short wall of the fountain, a silver-haired woman gently let her fingertips glide through the cool waters. It was the first time that she had been there, and so was rather enraptured by the subliminal beauty of both things natural and artificial. Many a person had already left from the ball that was being held not too long ago. An event for the social elite, the woman sitting beside the trickling fountain didn't quite see herself fit to attend and so entertain herself with the waters.
Her attire wasn't as elegant those of the women who passed by, a simple white and blue frilled dress, but that didn't stop the songstress from offering each a warm smile as they left. Sometimes she'd get a similar smile in return, other times they turned their nose up at her as they crawled into their coaches. Regardless, Tsumiko continued to enjoy the waters in simple bliss. This place was like a dream. After a time, she began humming to herself, soft and gentle, last in thought and content with being entertained my them. By then, most everyone seemed to be gone as the castle's activity hushed.
The humming turned into a song, the lyrics from a lullaby that she was taught long ago as a child. It seemed only fitting at the world appeared to be drifting off to sleep. Tsumiko kept her tone low as to not disturb anyone near enough to hear. The last thing she wanted was to get escorted out of the castle grounds because she was being too loud. That would have been an embarrassing tragedy. One she'd rather avoid. But the atmosphere seemed just too perfect to pass up a little vocal practice. Hopefully she wasn't going to bother anyone.

About the Character
Appearance > Physical Appearance With long, silky silver-blue hair that comes down to about her knees, she has silver-blue eyes and fair skin that compliments bright features. Standing at about 5' 6" (1.71m) and weighing around 150lbs (68kg). Besides her rather endowed bust, she has an otherwise thin yet toned build. > Outfit Description When at home or relaxing, she enjoys wearing one of her many bright, frilly dresses. They range in colors, usually whites or blues, and are on most occasions only as long as her knees. Coupled with tights or leggings, some form of heeled shoe or sandal are on her feet. Sometimes she'll go barefoot, though. Her hair is typically done up, ribbons or accessories adorning her silver locks.
However, when she leaves home, she's wearing more flexible attire. Something she can run and jump in without flashing the world whatever undergarments she's wearing. Tsumiko likes to keep it not so classy though, with a tight fitted, black corset that laces up the front. Resting on her shoulders is a white hood, disconnected from the rest of her garments, and is cinched in the front by a large blue gem. Halfway down her arms are loose, white sleeves. An accident one day led to the left leg of her capris getting ripped off, but after fixing the hem she continues to wear them even though the lengths are different. Around her right thigh, a pouch containing various things is usually fastened there. Fishnet come to her knees on both legs and tall moccasins sit above her ankles.
Personality
Bubbly and inviting upon first encounter, she's the kind of person that can hardly be classified as suspicious. Sometimes coming off as naive or childish, a warm smile is usually gracing her lips and she's always eager to befriend just about everyone. Despite any reputation one might have, Tsumiko gives everyone a fair chance before making a decision on how she feels towards someone. Though there are times when she can be serious and mature. It isn't her favorite disposition, but she can manage when the situation calls for it.
Or at least, that's how she wants people to see her...
The practiced outer shell that she had for herself was made to mask what it was that she didn't want to feel, to hide what she didn't want others to see. That shell was who she wanted to be, but was never able to truly become. For the most part it worked, so much so that she sometimes forgot that the illusion of a shell even existed. Inside, when she isn't drowning herself with tasks to preoccupy herself, it's hard for her to smile, to laugh from the heart. Keeping busy leaves no time for sadness, and so she forgets. Often more than she wants, adding to her seemingly ditsy outer persona.
Battle Statistics| Character Position | Neutral Good | Character Abilities| Battle Cry | A rhythmic, inspiring song that gives strength and vigor to allies. It addresses the target's muscle tissue and acts like a potent steroid by inducing the body to generate the natural chemicals related to muscle growth for a brief period of time. Increases ally strength; 4 post effect; 3 post cool-down
| Cantus Firmus | A solid, emboldening song that gives fortitude and stability to allies. Coats the target(s) in a layer of protective wind magic, similar to that of Aero. It provides a form of physical and magical defense, though is not entirely impervious. Increases ally endurance; 4 post effect; 3 post cool-down
| Matador's Song | A fast paced jive that creates a sense of urgency and an ability to avoid things quicker. It gives the target(s) a burst of what is essentially similar to adrenaline, and a mild sense of weightlessness.Increases ally speed; 4 post effect; 3 post cool-down| Perfect Pitch | A jammin' tune that's both precise and fabulous! Accurate notes make for accurate allies. The target(s) recieve a sort of boost that helps the mind think more precisely and accurately, essentially allowing one to react faster in a shorter amount of time.Increases ally agility; 4 post effect; 3 post cool-down| Hymnal of Light | A song that creates a white, shining halo around the head of allies. It also has falling glittery bits for who knows what reason. Using the power of light, it restores small amounts of stamina to those affected over a period of time. Gives allies a 'Regain' buff; 5 post effect; 3 post cool-down
| Ballad of Light | In a flash in insanely bright light, Tsumiko blinds any persons within the general vicinity, friend and foe alike. Those within a 3 meter radius is also inflicted with light damage. Inflicts Blind; 2 post effect; 3 post cool-down| Sleepy Shuffle | This incredibly languid dance makes any who lays eyes upon it want to yawn and lay down for a nap. And who could blame them? Inflicts Sleep; 2 post effect; 3 post cool-down| Slow Dance | Almost as if time were slowing down, this dance makes the movements of its target(s) sluggish. Kinda like moving through molasses. Inflicts Slow; 2 post effect; 3 post cool-down| Carnival Cancan | A fast-paced, skirt-shakin', hyped on too much coffee dance that can make a guy (or gal) forgot which way is up and which is down - or forget friend from foe. That tends to not a pretty sight. Inflicts Confusion; 2 post effect; 3 post cool-down| Magical Masque | A light glow warms the bodies of allies as a link is temporarily forged between them and Tsumiko. This link partially absorbs damage and transfers it to Tsumiko, wherein she takes a portion of the hits instead. Absorbs damage; 4 post effect; 4 post cool-down| MP Mambo | A dance that creates a small, glowing seal upon allies where magic is most commonly used – such as a hand or one's forehead. This seal creates a link between Tsumiko and the beneficiaries which allows her to share her MP with them. Unfortunately, it is only a one way street and there can be no taking of others' MP. Shares MP; 4 post effect; 5 post cool-down| White Silence |Taking the shape of two spherical orbs of solid light, this spell removes the target's magical energy source (without causing such things as fatigue) and speech, which prevents them from casting Magic and other commands that require speech and the use of MP. Any attempt to cast a spell will result in moderate light damage. Inflicts Silence; 3 post effect; 5 post cool-down| Siren | Essentially giving Tsumiko the physiological properties of the creature known as a 'Siren', varying from small visual changes to a full set of functional wings, it allows her to enchant any instrument she picks up. They can therein be turned into tools of battle to help or hurt depending on how it's trying to be used. Using this ability also runs the unintentional risk of increasing the users' charm. One use per topic; effective until dismissed or incapacitated| Sylph | Being a creature said to be composed of nothing but air, an elemental more or less, Tsumiko gains a heightened affinity for the element and an increased control over it. This control even allows her to fly! To... some minor degree... Alright, it's more like a hover, but what are specifics? This ability also results in a form of transparency, however faint. Though that doesn't make Tsumiko any less solid than normal. She can still sustain injury. One use per topic; effective until dismissed or incapacitated| Sonic Boom | A high intensity burst of sonic energy. It travels in a way similar to that of a wave in a forward motion. The damage that results varies depending on how much time and mana was put into the casting, ranging from gale force to hurricane-like winds depending upon the charge time. 1 post cool-down| Finale | When all else fails and it seems as though the end is upon her, Tsumiko may use this skill inflict target(s) with several random, negative status effects. It takes a second to amass the mana necessary (the total charging period equals the amount of effects to be executed), and is cast via an ear-splitting sonic screech. The type that can make the ears bleed. This spell, no matter how long the charge period, uses all remaining MP and will incapacitate Tsumiko for a total of ten posts - this number will also include those of the topic's other participants. (The random effects are based upon a roll of dice, one for each charge post for a total of 5 max. The rolls are based upon results from this site here and will be posted with integrity.)
Results are as follows: - 1) Blind
- 2) Silence
- 3) Sleep
- 4) Confusion
- 5) Slow
- 6) This is a freebie in which no ailments are inflicted
One use per topic; charge period of 2-5 posts
Equipment| Armed Targe | X A round, metal shield that is slightly shorter than her forearm. The design is simple, sporting two flawless gemstones on opposite ends which absorbs and contains its user's mana. At the middle, the central plate collapses into itself and reveals a short barrel which shoots various forms of ammo. However, this piece in particular shoots compressed mana rather than bullets. | Gauntlet | X The reinforced fabric of the glove stretches from just about the wrist to the elbow, locked into place with belts. Around the wrist, providing a small bar for the hand, and then encircling around the knuckles, the spiked, adamite metal may look extremely heavy but looks can be deceiving. This bulky weapon it well equipped to be swung around endlessly and take the beatings. | Megaphone | X Visually, it's nothing more than the average megaphone, black and blue in color with a small hand-held microphone connected to it. However, this one has been modified to amplify and project the magical properties of the voice. | Tuning Forks | A set of bi-pronged musical tools used to tune instruments. Hitting it with a magic infused note that matches the fork's specific note can create an earsplitting soundwave that lasts as long as the fork is vibrating, which is about 5-15 seconds. The notes vary, but the effects stay mutually the same. | Magic Gemstone | X The blue gem that cinches her hood together. She obtained it as a thank-you gift for helping a rather strange, cryptic older fellow. He told her that it possessed many magical properties. While she believes it to be true, Tsumiko has yet to uncover much of anything about it. Racial AbilityAs a human, there isn't anything that sticks out as extraordinary when compared to other races. Though there are those that argue that it is humanity and its weak, fragile humans who have the strongest hearts. Guess only time will tell... Character Strengths Positive and encouraging, she tends to have the "Big Sister" air about her. That won't stop her from looking for a little fun, however. Sadly, her seemingly naive persona can get her in deep trouble if she's not careful. Fortunately, her latent magical affinity helps her out of a lot of those scrapes... Character Weaknesses
Unfortunately, Tsumiko packs the punch of a "girl" - probably only being able to take a punch like one, too. Behind the mask of careless smiles is a twisted critic still trying to find her path in life.
HistoryThey had always considered themselves a unit, her and her twin sister. They did everything together: play, love, learn, grow. Until one day, an event ripped that happiness from her. It was never figured out just who, or what, did it - but both her sister and her father had died, taken away. She was only seven at the time, just beginning to get a grasp on what life and death meant. By the end of the ordeal, Tsumiko understood very well what they meant.
In the following years, her mother succumbed to depression, the likes of which the little girl suffered from herself. The loss of her twin left her feeling very empty, as though a piece of her very being was missing. It was difficult to deal with, but for her mother's sake she pressed on. She wore her brightest smile, even though she hurt inside. She gave her most glee-filled laugh, even though she wanted to cry. She offered her best heart-warming hugs, even though she felt so cold. She even learned to sing songs to brighten their dreary home. It was all for her mother's sake, so that she wouldn't have to loose any one else important to her. Despite her best efforts, Tsumiko's mother fell ill, mainly due to self neglect, and passed shortly after. She was only twelve at the time, hardly able to support herself.
After such a long period of time, her and her mother eventually lost ties with any other friends and family that might have initially tried to help them. This left the girl with no one but herself to look after her. Whether out of kindness or pity, the neighbors from across the way offered them housing, their own home being foreclosed due to her mother's inability to pay the bills. She was thankful for their generosity, and told them so many times, but there was no way the elderly couple could fill the void growing in her heart - especially after her mother's death. Their granddaughter, on the other hand, did help if only just a little. The nine-year-old little girl came to visit quite often with her parents always gone for work. Her company settled Tsumiko's lingering emptiness, giving her the sense of sisterhood she'd been missing for so long. For the following years, she was cradled into a false sense of happiness. Then it happened again.
Of the elderly couple, the wife had passed and the husband was no longer able to take care of himself. The songstress did what she could to alleviate whatever strain this was putting on their family but it didn't seem to do much good. In the end they moved away, selling the house and leaving her all alone. She wasn't even able to say goodbye to the granddaughter she had grown so close to before they left. She was seventeen at the time, just starting to get a foot in the door of the maze called life.
Thereafter, she spent her time traveling. Little did she know of the vastness the universe held beyond the comparably small world of Radiant Garden. Her knowledge of such things as magic grew, and about the things lurking in the shadows. When exactly she first figured out how to fuse magic into her songs is unclear, most likely during her time in the rocks around in the Great Maw, but once the ability was discovered, Tsumiko began training herself in the art, learning many things to both help and impede. It wasn't all for combat, though. There were plenty of passive things she could do with her voice. And she enjoyed enchanting an audience with songs, giving them cause to smile. A smile was the best expression someone could wear, after all.
Writing Portion From atop the tall stone wall encircling Radiant Garden, Tsumiko looked out into the horizon, fists on her hips in pride. As far as the eye could see, an evening sky lit the blueish stones that seemed to be the foundation of this world. Slinging off the pack over her shoulder, she sat on the wall, letting her legs to swing off the edge. The songstress chuckled mischievously to herself as she reached to open what lay inside. From within, Tsumiko pulled out what appeared to be a small box. Further inspection revealed that there was indeed two small boxes – with lids! Setting one to the side, the songstress happily opened the other as she kicked her feet merrily. The aroma that was released created a quite gurgle in her belly. “Lunch time~!” she said out loud with a wide smile. Digging into the homemade bento box, Tsumiko wasted no time in satisfying her appetite. She worked really hard all afternoon to make them decently presentable, as she was taught all those years ago.
“Cooking is an art,” she was told. “It has to look as nice as it taste or people won't try it!” The voice of the old woman who took her in rang in her ears, placing a bittersweet smile on her lips. The hood she wore cast a shadow over her face, her spork hanging limp in both her lips and hand. That old lady... was a really good cook. Made the best little cakes, too. She always gave Tsumiko the biggest strawberry to top if off, much to her granddaughter's dismay. Those days were the best. But nothing lasts forever...
She spent a little more time there before packing up her things. Though there was a reason she came to that specifically. Placed beside where she had been sitting was the second bento box, a sealed envelope, and a single purple hyacinth shoot. The flower was a little tedious to find, but it was worth it. The old man brought her here on occasion when Tsumiko was having a bad day. They'd spend hours out here, just talking. This was their hideaway from the troubles of society. And the flower the songstress left was her silent plea for forgiveness. She felt like she needed to be told that it was okay – that it wasn't her fault.
