Ashling only! Virgon is war-torn world which war has lasted more than a millennium. Two main factions hold guerrilla warfare against each other, suicide bombers, hit-and-run tactics. Both the Lansing and Combine hate each other until the sky falls. Both factions no longer know the reason of the Eternal War, they don't know why they fight; they simply fight. Both factions control over superior technology, but fortunately do not turn to nuclear weapons. Virgon's broken terrain was simply destroyed. --- Explosions were heard a loud, infantry screaming for their lives as they fell to the ground. The broken road, caused by a gargantuan icicle, prevented the convoy to move any further, soldiers moved into front of the convoy and pointed their deadly rifles at an individual in front of it. Four orbs moved from the icicle and in front of the stranger, slowly the orbs became one orb. The stranger sliced the orb with his transparent sword while shouting, "tsuranaru hebi!" A large ice snake, composed with icicles sticking out of it went through the convoy. Freezing, killing annihilating the convoy as if they went through a blizzard. After the storm settled, the stranger took off his cloth that covered his mouth and removed the black beanie to release his long blue hair. Ephiram was wearing an elite soldier uniform once more, complete with its buckles and tights. His cheek was slightly covered with dirt, showing how long the prince has really been on this rock. As he walked towards the destroyed convoy, he felt a hand grab his foot. Looking down, he saw the soldier begging for his life, but he saw the patch on his shoulder. With anger on his face, Ephiram stabbed the soldier through his heart with Ensui. He kicked the hand off his foot and walked towards the caravan that was frozen. As he walked towards the caravan, the patch on his soldier's shoulder spelled: DEATH. Ephiram picked up a rifle and saw its standard form. "Damn it!" he threw the frozen rifle to the ground. "What the hell?" Ephiram grunted as he looked around. "Why the hell aren't there any elites here?" Ephiram expected more from the convoy to attack him, it was more like the soldiers simply laid down their names. Before Ephiram could say anymore, he felt a large explosion that shook the ground. He looked straight into the sky and say a mushroom of fire. Ephiram simply chuckled and looked down at the frozen caravan. "People are too barbaric here."

Ashling's voice made a cold chill go up Ephiram's spine, it was surprisingly alarming to hear a voice when you least expected it. He vigorously pulled out his side arm with his right hand and pointed at the voice. Ephiram's spine began to grow warmth the moment he realized that it was pointing at a woman.
"No one really knows why the Eternal War has surpassed a millenium," Ephiram smiled as he lowered his weapon slowly with Ensui. "The people have no record of what their ancestors quarrled about, this war could simply be their way of life now." Ephiram took another look at Ashling, he didn't think that she would survive in an hostile like Virgon's.
Ephiram placed his side arm back into its holister and brushed his strands of hair away from his eye and smiled. "Everyone has darkness inside them, no matter whether they're a holy man or a sinner." He looked at her before he knelt down and examined the broken caravan. "Don't you share the same philosophy as me?"
He placed his visor on his eye and examined the convoy in detail. Ephiram still couldn't believe that DEATH had basically led their soldiers into their pathetic death.
"The bastards," he scoffed as he kicked the frost off the ground. "This convoy is nothing but dead meat." It was then when a sense kicked Ephiram. "You," he turned around and faced Ashling. "Are you associated with DEATH or LIFE?"
If Ashling said either one, he was going to cut her legs off no matter what. Despite the obvious differing names, he considered them both hostile.

"People who dwell in darkness are nothing but warmongers that seek destruction and despair," Ephiram quickly said. "Those that accept the light sacrifice their lives to protect what is 'right'," he quoted with his fingers. "Alignments are what motivate people into doing what they do." Ephiram scratched his unshaven chin and smiled at Ashling. "Isn't that what motivates all of-"
An explosion interrupted Ephiram once again. The ground trembled as if C6 explosions erupted sequentially. He had to place his hand on a truck's door from keeping himself to lose his balance. Not long later, the tremble stopped, and dark clouds began to emerge in the sky, originating from Virgon's broken surface.
"This war is the saddest documented one that the 'verse had ever seen," he tried to regain his balance by standing on his own. "With no history, parchments, evidence on what started it, the only way this war will end is when a nuke rips Virgon in half, and trusts me," he reassured her. "That will happen, sooner or later."
Ephiram turned his eyes back towards the dead soldier on the ground. His patch still reading DEATH, he was still unable to follow the cookie crumbs the organization had cleverly placed. "I'm not associated with LIFE or DEATH," Ephiram quickly defended himself. "Despite the obvious difference in names, I do not trust either of them." Ephiram turned his eyes back towards Ashling with a cold stare in his cobalt eyes. "I'm Ephiram Carnaso, human contractor here on Virgon to assist the Lansing." He stretched the badge on his left shoulder as hard as he could as it did clearly say 'Lansing' on it. "I'm here to initiate recon missions on the west side of the Third continent."
Ephiram's Ensui shed its icy blade into water, leaving its small dagger form. He placed it in its sheath with both his hands and stared at the dark cloud slowly spreading into the atmosphere.
"You haven't really informed me why you are here and the reason you haven't impaled me with that sword," he said. Ephiram brushed his hair with both his hands to the back of his scalp and smiled once more at Ashling. "Am I that trustworthy?" he cleverly added.

"Don't judge me just yet, your highness," he slightly bowed and brushed another few threads, leaving only a few to escape his fingers. "A mercenary's life is full of adventure," he complimented himself. "My clients don't shove contracts down my throat, Queen Gadahnia Ashli-" Ashling's extravagant name overwhelmed him from remember the few last parts, causing Ephiram to abandon from addressing her name. As for his apology, he simply bowed and smiled. "I guess there's a reason why the royals never see the faces of their mercenaries; they're not worth of even mentioning their name."
Despite his occupation as a mercenary, Ephiram definitely did not share the same level of intellect as he did for the average contractor. He was able to tell the obvious difference of right and wrong, he was not oblivious to the consequences of his actions, and he was such a charmer in the long run. His smooth, dirty, silky hair accompanied by his feminine jaw, the few traces of motor oil on the side of his cheeks, the appearance of a prince in a uniform meant for someone to die in. But Ephriam was no prince; royalty was the last thing he'd ever deserve. He came from a family of blacksmiths, born resistant against the unforgiving heat, names unrecognized and hardly ever appreciated. If he was a prince, Ephiram was a prince with no popularity.
Ephiram's daydream was quickly broken when he heard the crackle of gunfire fill the air around him. He realized that it was far, but still close enough to be a potential threat. Ephiram knew that he had to leave the caravan; he began to realize that reinforcements might just be on their way towards the frozen convoy. He pulled out his sidearm from its holster and took out a silencer and placed the rod on the nozzle.
Ephiram was about to say something to Ashling, but his mouth and eyes paused in frustration trying to say her name while his hands continued to fasten the rod onto the end of the gun. "My Queen," he said in a withheld manner. "This is no place for a queen," Ephiram quickly threw his free hand own, extending it towards Ashling. "Do you still think I'm trustworthy?"

You're so funny... NOT! xD Ashling's plea to not be called 'Queen', disturbed Ephiram significantly. There shouldn't be a single person in the entire universe that wouldn't want to be called Queen. The title Queen demanded respect, honor, fame, fortune, why would a person not want that at their disposal? Ephiram viewed Ashling now as an evil Queen, a person who might as well ruled over her people in tyranny, causing fear and horror for those that spoke her name. Neah. There was no possible way that could have happened. Even though the plea of Ashling for not being called Queen was frozen into Ephiram's thoughts, it certainly did clarify a few things for the mercenary. Ashling was definitely not from Virgon. There was no longer any form of government that ever existed for a millennium. The only form of goverment that reigned over Virgon's people is martial law that has been running ever since this dreadful war started. Wait. Neah.Ephiram began to ponder whether Ashling's true motives here was bring her soldiers from whatever she represented and be allies to one of the factions that were present here, or possibly take over the planet with her own forces. Illogical? Certainly, but not impossible. Neah.Ephiram kept a frightful stare upon Ashling for quite a moment now, his eyes dry from not blinking, his lips parched, and he immediately broke his stare when he had realized the two should have left the hot zone ages ago. Ephiram was already anxious to abandon the frozen convoy, he didn't want to be the guilty one found on a crime scene. Just as he was about to grab Ashling's hand, he saw DEATH's infantry units on the other side of the alley; the only entrance of the alley was now filled with soldier aiming their assault rifles at the two. Without even thinking, he pushed Ashling to the side and immediately stabbed Ensui into the ground. The soldier began firing with their assault rifles, sending fire in the air. "Tsurara Mai!" A giant icicle emerged from the ground, blockading the soldiers from advancing any further and thus covering their escape out. Ephiram kneeled himself down as he began to feel agonizing pain in his abdomen, he knew that at least one bullet from that platoon got to his bulletproof vest. He turned his head towards Ashling, making sure the Queen was still intact. "Are you alright my-" Ephiram paused. He nodded his head and smiled while turned once more towards her. "Are you alright Ashling." He looked at her and he could already conclude. Yeah.gottalovemyjoax

"I-I'm fine," he lied. Feeling a bullet hitting him much more than it did go through him. "I felt worst," he didn't lie there. Ephiram couldn't handle anything worst, but his fragile body has dealt with its share of cuts and bruises.
Ephiram was rather amused by the worried Queen, attempting to avoid the heat of the battlefield. Of course he didn't blame her for wanting to leave as soon as possible, but Ephiram had an escape plan as usual. "You don't think I have a plan?" he chuckled as he slowly rose, trying to maintain his balance. "I wouldn't shove an icicle to trap use completely Ash," he was already comfortable enough to give Ashling a nickname. "Don't worry, I'm you're knight in... bulletproof vest?"
He removed Ensui from the ground and swung it with one move across his shoulder. Water spilled out from Ensui, dripping onto the ground. The water on the ground started to form a standing body, and slowly it emerged into a replica of Ephiram.
"Flawless eh?" he chuckled as he stabbed Ensui back into the ground again. "Just like a twin, Tsurara Mai!" Instantly, a small iceberg-like structure emerged below Ephiram. "Come on now Ash," he extended his hand out for her. "We're getting the hell out of here, gonna be a little bumpy though."
Ephiram didn't want to say another word to Ashling. He knew that Ashling was going to join his pillar ride, but just because he was helping her, didn't mean she was carrying her...willingly.

The little hint that Ashling gave Ephiram haunted him again. Knowing that she had a brother, possibly older, Ephiram could only expect the worst from her past. If Ephiram wasn't wrong, an older, and especially, male is suppose to be the heir to the throne. Ashling was a woman, and she yet she mentions herself as a queen. He couldn't shake the strange feeling of asking her questions, as much as he hated, he wanted to ask her so bad.
Ephiram shook the question of his shoulders and latched his hand to Ashling's. He brought her up onto the icy structure, which surface began to moisturize. Trying not to slip, Ephiram wrapped his arm around Ashling's waist and held on her tightly. "Sorry," he mumbled as his cheeks went rose. "Tsurara Mai."
With that been said, the icy structure began to rise with Ensui and the two. Ephiram held on Ashling a little bit tighter since the structure was incredibly unstable and he began to fear slipping of the ice with Ashling. As strange as it was, the two managed to stay together all the way to the top of the roof tops.
"Come on now," Ephiram walked Ashling in hand. "Slow and steady wins the race." The two made it off the ice pillar and onto the roof tops of the building much more safely than Ephiram expected. "You alright?" he asked her, not noticing that his hand was still latched onto Ashling's.
Even though they were n the roofs, Ephiram's focus on Ashling had blinded him from the utter destruction that was seen on Virgon's broken terrain. Black smoke of destruction rose from the ground into the sky, the exterior of other buildings were broken or shattered. Fires, people, scattered through to the ground, a hell on earth that is only affected because of one thing. War.

Ephiram laughed the moment Ashling told him that he lived on the sad rock of Virgon. He could not believe that she had accused him of being among the population of a planet that was highly disregarded, a planet at a constant verge of destruction and annihilation. As the mean of 'So Say We All' did not exist on this planet while it was practically holy for Ephiram; the only reason of his presence on Virgon is to accomplish his assignment.
"Me?" he began to lose his manly voice. "Live here? Are you mad?" Ephiram released his hand away from Ashling and backed away. "Trust me," he reassured her. "If I lived here, I wouldn't have this hair, this armor, and I'll be observing this war in the heavens."
He turned back and saw the destruction of what Virgon represented. Ephiram actually could not imagine anyone living on such a hostile environment. Such hate, fear, Death's Scythe constantly on the people's neck, Hades ready to welcome the many souls lost every single day.
"Maybe you should have," he chuckled. "Maybe I should have stayed at home and studied some new recipe then get-"
Bang
The shot came too fast, it came too powerful, it went through Ephiram. The tracer round penetrated Ephiram's armor and went into his right shoulder, sending him slightly to the side. Realizing of the potential danger that it already represented, he jumped towards Ashling and brought her to the ground with him. As the two were falling, he saw another tracer round fired; the fiery incendiary bullet flew through the air, just missing his chest slightly. Both of them took cover thanks to the little edges around the building providing them cover.
"Frak me!" he cursed as he held his shoulder. Blood slowly seeping out from wound caused a constant, agonizing pain. Ephiram pulled out his side arm and fired his gun behind the edge of the lip towards where the round came from. "Stay down Ash," he mumbled. Realizing that the sniper most likely already called for reinforcements, he was going to need to think of something fast to escape, and he was going to make sure his Queen stays safe.
"Ar-are you alright?"

Sorry for making this go in a funny direction...
"I-I'm fine," Ephiram lied. "I've had worst anyways," he lied once more. Knowing that Ashling was already freaking out because of Ephiram's fatal condition and the situation they both shared. Thinking of an escape plan wasn't going to be easy, but Ephiram was going to have to do it because he had realized that Ashling certainly did not posses one.
Ephiram swallowed the pills from Ashling without thinking twice; the pain in his shoulder was too much for him to take. Never before had he experienced such pain before, it was certainly too powerful for him to take, but before of thinking of his pain, had to think of what to do with Ashling. He wasn't just about to have her go through the same fate.
"Here," he handed Ashling his side arm. "I'm not a good shot, especially without my right hand, maybe it'll help you out." Ephiram grabbed Ensui from the ground as he tried his best to keep his head below the small cover the edge of the building provided.
"Lay down Ash," he coughed as his right shoulder began to shiver. "I have a plan." Ephiram quickly hovered Ensui right about his wound, Ensui shined a bright blue before it showed that it froze the wound right above his shoulder.
"This'll work for a while," he said with a chuckle, trying to make most of this dangerous situation.
