After the boy managed to get up and steady on his own, despite the clear amount of pain he endured while doing so, he seemed to be managing. JeY knew he wasn't a boy to be praised or acknowledged for attaining to beating himself, and helping him was out of the question. the praise would probably seem condescending and the help would be insulting to his pride. Still, he managed, and that was enough. Channeling energy didn't require the most physically fit statuses so long as Neal was simply able to move. He proved that one pretty well.
"Alright." JeY simply said, raising his arm and waving it lazily to the left and letting hand bend backwards and just rest with his palm facing up, channeling a familiar portal of Chaos energy. This would lead to a large Craig where they would have all the room and personal space in the world for practicing. He could've taken them to his dimension again but that would be too much effort and he wouldn't be able to find Heartless there to practice on eventually once Neal had the trick down. "After you." He said. JessY nonchalantly would lead Neal into the portal, taking up the tail would be JeY.
Once they arrived in the rocky valley, they would be a disheartening and unfriendly-looking location but there was plenty of open space and no one else around. Perfect. JeY would close the portal behind him, clear his throat and jump right into lesson one. "This should be easier for you than the average student learning how to channel energy, since you've used magic before. However, this is a little different." JeY spoke monotonously, taking a short breath. "Instead of chanting a spell name, or calling upon a familiar rush of energy, you have to figure out a way to harness and utilize the energy within you. You're used to mana, correct?" He said, expecting a short yes (or no, but unlikely) before continuing.
"Basically, just clear your thoughts and focus. Search within yourself a power you believe you can grasp, and get really familiar with it. Eventually, you'll be so familiar you can call on it by second nature." He said, taking another short breath. "Then, you command it to come forth and manipulate it according to your desire, but you have to really want it to happen in order for it to obey you. Anything short of a clear and sure picture will backfire. Anyway... We'll start simple." JeY said, turning to the side and facing the mountain on the left. He brought his arm back, and suddenly thrust it forward to cause a small burst of dark energy to stream out in the form of a flaming orb, which flew for a bit before descending and burning out on the ground.
"Try to externalize any energy in any form you can muster. If you feel yourself losing control, refer to the device. that's very important." He said, crossing his arms. He would allow to try of his own will for as long as he'd like before intervening, keeping a close hidden eye on his aura signature to ensure that Neal wasn't letting the darkness get too strong. JeY had a point to compare it to, when he supposedly almost burned himself alive and tried to attack JeY, to refer to as a sort-of maximum. Other than that, he would simply be there to answer any questions or give any tips of Neal asked. JessY, on the other hand, simply stared and held her hands together in a sort of eagerness to see if he could really control the energy. She sure hoped it worked. She offered plenty of silent encouragement from her presence.

Once Neal stepped through the portal, a slight anxiety began to wash over him. Normally being rather confident in himself and his headstrong naivety, it was beyond difficult to truly grasp being anxious, as the young magi had never really understood the emotion. It was as if an invisible cage was beginning to construct around him, making him full aware of how little space he had. Listening to JeY, he pulled the small pink disc from his pocket, his golden eyes scanning over it warily. If I lose control... just pour it into this...? The very thought of losing control over something so deadly and evil was jarring to his spirit and moral.
Glancing over to JessY, who had remained silent this entire time, the young man found some solace in her presence. Another small fear crept into the back of his mind- he didn't want to lose control in front of her. He remembered when he first awoke out of his small coma, seeing her face tormented and distraught with worry. His face fell a bit at this memory, his golden eyes seeming slightly dimmed as his brow furrowed, his gaze now stuck on the pink disc. Don't worry, JessY... I won't make you worry. Taking a deep breath, the boys yellow eyes lifted over to JeY, a determined look painted over his face- a mask for the fear that lurked heavy within his heart. Despite the odds stacked against him, if there was anything the young magi had, it was courage. Putting on a brave face, he mustered up a smile- though a bit weak- and gave one last look over to JessY. "Well... here goes nothing..."
Closing his eyes, Neal lowered his head, his chin near his chest, and began to block out the world. There was no land, no wind, no material plane, he was inside of his own mind, everything else around was non existent. Remembering what JeY said about it being similar to magic, Neal began to probe around inside himself, searching. Other than his usual mana energy, the young man didn't feel anything- that is, until the voice disrupted his silence. Don't be afraid... You want this power. It sent chills down Neal's spine, and instantly it felt like his hair was standing straight, his body tensing as his breath halted. Why do I feel... cold? It was as if someone had thrown him into a freezer, and everything in his instincts were telling him to throw away this mission of controlling the Darkness. That was when he felt it, slowly awakening inside of him, the slithering and deceiving stalk of Darkness.
The wind was knocked out of him, it felt as if he had been slammed in the stomach by a Defender Heartless, though he forced himself to remain focused on the energy that was becoming more prominent. Come on... work!!! Do SOMETHING!! In his mind he imagined what he knew best- his mana energy flaming, only this image he forced onto the alien energy. A flickering black flame. Though his eyes were closed, and he couldn't see it, a small orb of black had begun to form in front of him as he stood, slowly taking on the shape of a small flame. Despite this, he was still afraid. I don't... want to let it in... The voice spoke, more aggressively this time then the last. You already have. Neal's chest tightened, and he let out a sharp gasp as he felt like something was ripping at his heart, something vile and evil, and purely intent on his destruction.
His eyes snapped open, and the small black flame in front of him burst, engulfing the ground in front of him. Darkness began crawl up his legs, attempting to devour the vessel in which it was trapped. Yelling out in a mixture of fear and pain, the young magi quickly opened the small pink disc, hoping now more than ever that it worked. As he flung himself backwards, the Darkness that had escaped from him quickly was sucked up into the small chaotic energy vial, leaving Neal panting and frightened, but unharmed, sitting on the valley floor. His eyes were wide, his pupils dilated, and his entire body shook in terror at what he had just felt inside of him. The shock still not fading from his face, his widened eyes fell on JeY, a slight hysteria in his voice. "W-w-what the hell just happened!?"
It didn't make sense to him, one second he had been calm, collected, and focused- and within a millisecond everything had crumbled. Neal clutched his chest, wincing a bit, still feeling the remnants of the evil that had once again tried to capture him. Why... why did I lose control? Though he asked the question, deep down in his heart he knew why. He hadn't lost control- he never had it from the start.

[OOC: Should be noted, JeY's opinion =/= my own interpretation of this OR what's actually going on. So, if he's wrong, don't feel the need to correct me =P]
When Neal would look up at JeY, he would see a sword pointed directly at his throat as he stood over the troubled boy, but the tip of the sword was wrapped in semi-transparent energy in the form of a rounded cylinder, a thin strand connected to JessY's outstretched hand, standing in a defensive pose with a furious look plastered on her face. It was very clear she was unhappy, but JeY himself looked stoic and uninteresting as usual.
After a brief pause, the sword and the energy holding the tip of it would dissipate, and the two alternate selves would both cross their arms. "Well, answer him." JessY said. She sounded angry, too. Apparently the boy missed a little more than he might imagine. JeY would engage in a bit of a stare down with Neal, not once shifting his gaze to the girl the entire time. A few seconds passed before he would decide to finally speak.
"Neal. Are you controlling the darkness, or is the darkness controlling you?" he said, after all of that. JessY wasn't happy with the way this conversation was headed. "Are you fucking kidding me--" She began to say until JeY raised his arm as a gesture to indicate 'shut up'. She stopped talking, but not because she wanted to."After witnessing that just now, I have some theories. You could have either generated new energy from your heart due to stress, or you have a parasite." He said. JessY stared wide-eyed at the certain word he used which wasn't all that delightful sounding.
"I think something is trying to convert you into a being of its own will. If this was your own energy, the 'loss of control' sequence looks a little different." He said. There was also the factor that he could sense energy to a very strong degree, to which he felt something off about the darkness that emanated off from the boy. It felt less natural than it should have. Granted, this is still new to Neal and he had little control over the matter in general. It was all interpretation but JeY was always so positive about his assumptions and never really felt like he could be wrong regarding these matters of situations.
The air was left open for Neal to speak finally, perhaps give his thoughts on what was said, or perhaps repeat his question since JeY never really gave the direct answer but rather discussed what he thought was more interesting instead.

After stuttering out his question for JeY, the young magi's golden eyes widened as the tip of the sword lingered over his throat. The sudden ferocity shocked him, and instantly made him recoil, kicking himself back a foot or so away from the deadly chaotic being. Once JeY asked if the darkness was controlling him, Neal's face contorted into one of annoyance and frustration, though deep in his heart and somewhere beneath the glimmer of his eyes, the truth was shown- he knew that he had very little- if any- control over the odd energy inside of him. Jumping to his feet, the look of determination and slight sting of betrayal lingered on his face.
"Hey! The hell do you think you're doing!? Pointing that thing at me like it's NOT going to slice me open!?" Gripping his fists tightly at his side, Neals eyes pierced into JeY's. Once the chaotic being mentioned something about another party trying to 'convert' him, however, his anger subsided. Looking away, the young magi was furious with himself. Even if it isn't my own Darkness... how can I be so weak as to let it effect me so badly!? The sheer thought of the voice taking control was enough to cause his stomach to feel as if it were being lurched and battered, and suddenly he began to feel nauseous. Staggering a bit, he quickly regained himself and took a deep breath.
Staring down at his own hands, the young magi sighed before finally kicking at the ground in frustration, his teeth grinding together roughly as his shoulders shook from pure anger. "Damn it!" Another stomp on the grassy field, another wince as pain jolted up his ankle- the Earth was unforgiving in its strength. Looking over at JeY, Neal tried to keep calm, but it was difficult- as there were so many fears, thoughts, and emotions running through his mind at the moment. "Well, what would be doing that then!? How can something just.... poison me with this!?" Crossing his arms, he forced another deep breath, allowing air to fill his lungs before sighing out in relief. C'mon... c'mon... think.... His golden eyes snapped open, this time confusion being the prime motive behind their gaze.
With a slight tilt of his head, keeping his arms crossed, he glanced at JeY for a moment. "Wait... wouldn't... I dunno... wouldn't I be able to tell? Like... if something forced Darkness into my heart, wouldn't that be obvious? How could someone do that without me knowing?" The question was genuine, as Neal didn't recall anyone or anything pouring Darkness into him- or anything else dramatic like that. He was completely lost for an answer at the moment, and hoped that the chaotic man might know... well... anything would be helpful.

Despite the fact that JessY very clearly held the chaotic man, Neal seemed to scramble at the idea of something like JeY's aggression being pointed toward him in the slightest which was actually rather understandable. In all honesty, JeY wouldn't have had a problem disposing of him and taking the boy's darkness for himself but he'd be willing to be a bit more patient due to the extra party involved. This poor boy would have to endure quite a bit of suffering as a result, unfortunately.
Before JeY could really reply however, a very distraught JessY would walk up to Neal and give him a big hug, almost on the verge of tears. She could see his frustration, and unlike her counterpart she was full of a very strong sense of empathy. She hated to see such a good friend suffer so needlessly like this. "Whatever this is..." the blonde girl finally began, now breaking the embrace and looking into his eyes. "I'm here to help you get through it, okay?" She said, assuring him that there was someone hoping for the best on his behalf even if he didn't have much hope himself.
Giving them a moment, the chaotic man would exactly be a bit sympathetic and let them... or rather, the girl get out all of her stress. When they were done, JeY might as well finish this conversation. "First off, if you're completely lost to darkness you're no better off than Murdoc was; I will not hesitate to slay you should you pass a point of no return. However." He began to say, then glaring at JessY before returning his stoic gaze to Neal. "I will help as much as possible. Second." He said, now crossing his arms.
"I'm honestly not sure why you were targeted or how this darkness managed to foster, but I just remembered something. You said that you... artificially have the ability to use magic, correct?" He said. It was actually JessY that might have told him, but the details were irrelevant. "Perhaps the seed was planted long, long ago and only now it's just gained momentum... Hmm." He said, closing his eyes and tilting his head down slightly.
He would let a slight air of silence pass between them, giving the theories he spouted some more thought, trying to make sense of this. In all honesty, this just didn't make sense at all. He wanted to tell Neal he was a lost cause, but for JessY's sake he would hold back a bit. That wasn't his style, not in the slightest, but sometimes exceptions had to be made. They were all humans in the end, even JeY was bound to a frail mortal shell.
"As for telling how it happened, though." He decided to go on again. "Either you feel a swelling of energy that you know you're not causing, you begin having irrational thoughts that seem completely foreign to you, or you'll hear voices." He said. Hopefully one of those accurately described Neal's situation, as it might make the whole 'where the hell did this come from' process much easier for JeY to decipher, having boundless knowledge on energy manipulation. Meanwhile, JessY would be at Neal's side, silent once more to the ordeal that was for him to face though right here if he needed her. She couldn't provide information like JeY could, but she was a much more warm and affectionate body and had a real personality, unlike her chaotic counterpart.
