Swatting a bug on the back of his neck, the young teen let out an aggravated grunt. Seriously, the first job he has had arranged by his partner in months, and this is what he gets? What a load of crap. To make matters worse, Nero's partner wouldn't even be with him as he trudged through the unpleasant jungle, the old man had set up a camp a few miles away, staying nice and hydrated in a nice camp the duo had set up. Really, Nero was beginning to regret even saving the man back in Agrabah if this was how he was gonna repay the boy. Well, it wasn't all bad, Nero's other partner didn't seem to chicken out so easily. Following his owners lead through the jungle, Koji would look up at Nero, whimpering a bit. "Yeah, I know. I'm thirsty too, we can stop for water in just a bit, just hang in there." pushing a branch out of his path and holding open for his dog to pass, Nero would let out a sigh. He truly did dislike the jungle, almost as much as the desert, making the boy's last two adventures some of his least favorite he had the misfortune of taking part in thus far. Looking forward towards a nicely-sized slope in the path, Nero would pat his dog on the side and smile. "What do you know, Koji, it's time for a water break!" Reaching into the bag on his dog's side, Nero would pull out a shallow bowl and his canteen from it, pouring it into his dog's bowl and placing it besides his mutt.
While his non-human partner slurped away at the small bowl full of water, Nero would reach into his side-pouch, pulling out a map of the area his partner had provided him with, looking a bit puzzled. Tracing his finger along map, Nero would locate just where exactly he was in this maze of a world, leaving a half-smile on the boy's face. Sure, he was on the right track to reaching the area the jewel he was after was in (well, if Trojia's information regarding the emerald was right, at least) but he was still in no way close to the treasure. Taking a swig of water from his canteen, Nero would hear his radio go off, resulting in a sigh from the boy as he pulled in out of his back pocket and put to his ear. "What is it now, Troy?!" The teen would say, sounded more annoyed at the man than anything else. "Don't give me that attitude, kid! Have you found that damn emerald yet?!" The rather loud gruff voice of his partner would surprise the boy a bit, causing him to hold his right ear in pain, mouthing the word 'ow.
Still, even after the teen recovered from his partner talking rather loudly into his radio, Nero would gain a scowl on his face after the comment. What? The teen had only been gone from the camp for an few hours at the most, and here was Trojia giving him a rough time about not having the stupid emerald yet. It only made matters worse that the old man was giving these disapproval's of the boy's job thus far from the comfort of their camp, leaving Nero just a bit on edge. "Alright, you know what, I'll call you when I get there. That way, your old ass doesn't have to call me every two seconds asking me if I got the damn jewel yet! Here's a hint Troy, if I didn't have the freaking emerald five minutes ago, I'm not gonna have it now! I swear, this is the stupidest job you've picked out for me in a long time." Just before the teen could hang up on his mentor with that, he'd hear the man's gruff voice coming through the radio once more. Apparently, Nero couldn't have the last word in this little dispute. "Don't like the job, kiddo? You only got yourself to blame. If you didn't spend a few nights playing with that psychopathic girl's heart, there would have been better pickings, but noooo, you had t-." Clicking off his radio and shaking his head, Nero would stuff the radio in his back pocket. He really wasn't in the mood for Trojia's bickering at the moment, especially if he was going to start bringing up the whole Cheri situation to the boy. Once Koji was finished with his water, Nero put the bowl and the canteen back into the bag.
As much as Nero didn't want to, the boy knew he'd have to make his way up the steep hill in front of him. Taking in a deep breath of air, Nero would pat the dog on his side before getting a running start on the dog. "Race you to the top!" Turning a once tedious task into a childish competition, Nero and Koji would constantly bump into to each other while climbing up the hill, purposely trying to knock the other down. After a few seconds of the race, the duo would reach the top at the same time, freeing dead in their tracks as soon as the reached the top. The jungle may not have been Nero's favorite place in the world, but at least he could say it was a beautiful place, which was why the sight Nero and Koji saw atop the hill was so... unsettling. Looking down the slope, Nero could see nothing but dense fog, which was odd to the boy considering that the part of the jungle the teen and his dog had just come from was perfectly normal. Opening his map again, Nero would confirm what he had initially thought of the area, pulling out his pistol before addressing his dog. "Stay close Koj, this part of the jungle is barely marked on this map. There's probably some weirdo who wants to fondle you and eat me in here, but look, it's faster than trying to find a way around it. So, that's kind of a plus." Holding the map in front of his dog, Nero would shrug before looking down a final time. "Welp, should be a straight slide down from here. See you at the bottom!"
Walking off the hill, Nero would slide down the steep slope, jumping off just before reaching the ground and landing with a roll. Dusting himself off, the teen would look up towards the slope, seeing his dog slide down and land right beside him. Looking around the area, Nero could barely make out a path that appeared to be going forward. Pulling out his flashlight, Nero would tie it to his pistol, making a him both able to see and protect himself. Well, see better at least, as the flashlight wouldn't be able to make the boy see completely through the fog. As he continued forward, Nero was a bit nervous. After all, the had no ideas who or what could be lurking in this part of the jungle, but hopefully he wouldn't have to find out.

Having been running for a little while now, the girl noticed a distinct lack of other footsteps behind her. It seemed whatever tactic she pulled to lose the trail of her pursuers worked, albeit now she was utterly disoriented. she had a vague idea of where she was going, what direction she wanted to head, even some ideas about what to do next... except everything seemed impossible now that JessY was missing her dragonclaw pendant, an accessory that was the source of her very unique weapon. She would only hope that the baddies wouldn't figure out what it was or how to use it.
Perhaps her first instinct was to call on a very powerful soul for help, but she shuffled it to the back of her mind as an absolute last resort. She was going to fix this herself, and the less she had to deal with that contact the better, due to how tiresome he seemed. No matter how powerful or convenient he was, the girl was not going to ask for help unless it was do that or suffer very vast consequences. IT was nice having a back-up plan, it made her a little less nervous, but until then her top priority would be retrieving her weapon. However, she would need something temporary to take its place. There must be a way to get a sword or a sturdy blunt weapon around here; with that, a whole new door of possibilities would open up.
Until then, here she was, stranded in the jungle. No doubt she was still being looked for so she would have to keep moving. However, she noticed a very faint light up in the distance - chalk it up to her perceptive and observant abilities. It was definitely not one of the bad guys, she wasn't that disoriented and it was coming from/headed the wrong way. not quite towards her, but a direction that wouldn't exactly be looked in. Well, maybe she would have to make sure. Making her way over to a tree, she tried her best to climb it for a bit of a height advantage while closer to the light source.
She could barely make him out, but what he was wearing was definitely not anywhere near the same style as the thugs who ambushed her. They had a distinct outfit, where this guy... well, it was probably safe to approach him. But, cautiously... she still had no way to defend herself really. Hopping down from the tree, she would try to approach his general direction while trying to make the most amount of noise possible to alert his presence, then stopping when within decent talking distance. She spoke up, but not loud enough to yell and maybe give away her position to others. "Hello? Are you friendly? I'm a bit lost if you don't mind helping me out a little!" she would say to him. Being lost was rather true, albeit not her primary issue. She would hope he would be willing to help her out a little more than just getting back on track... maybe, as the guy looked like he held a firearm, he could help her get her weapon back. She would have to think of a way to repay him, but as long as it wasn't with her body, she might be fine with whatever he could think of.
The girl would approach with her arms up and her hands wide open to indicate the status of being unarmed, trying to make this as easy for both of them as possible. They weren't in the best of neighborhoods, anyone could be an enemy, but at least the boy would be willing to hear her out. "I know I said I was lost, but it breaks down like this; some thugs are out to kill me and stole my weapon. I'm... pretty useless without it, or at least without some sort of blade, and if you could help me get it back I'd repay you any reasonable way I possibly can. Please?" Having been a guy most of her life, she wasn't used to using feminine charm, but she was just really desperate and would've sounded this way regardless. Only now, she had a cute higher-pitched voice and a decent rack so of course, things would be a bit different.
"If you have some sort of sword you can let me use, by any chance, I wouldn't even be in the way too much... I do hate asking favors though..." she said, looking down and to the side. This was such a bother. She was still asking for help, but she could only hope that this would be far more reasonable company than a certain being about as expressive as a brick. If the man was unwilling, then this would be a bit troublesome. Sneaking around would be impossible without maybe running into a thug or two, and her hand-to-hand was a bit lacking if there at all.

Geez, was this a pain in the ass. Nero may have thought the fog in this section of the jungle was bad upon first glance, but now the boy could swear that the fog was making noises. Obviously, this wasn't actually the case, but Nero preferred thinking the sounds he was hearing as the fog rather than some sort of creature looking for him in this place. Trying to navigate his way through the fog-filled jungle, Nero would hear his dog let out a low growl, prompting the boy to instantly spin around and aim his gun in the direction he was now facing. Fortunately, it wasn't some terrifying creature that was a mixture of a snake, a clown and an octopus, as Nero's imagination would originally have him fear. Instead, it was an innocent looking girl, showing the boy she was unarmed while asking him if he was friendly. Was this chick for real? Jumping down from a tree in the middle of the jungle, then simply asking the boy such a question. Man, she really seemed to be another wacko. Well, at least at first, as the girl would speak up once more before Nero could get a word in.
As the girl would continue to explain her situation to the teen, Nero would shed a smirk, rubbing his temples. Really, if she thought this whole 'I'm being hunted down by bad men and I'm not armed' thing was gonna sway the boy, she was already thinking the boy had far more compassion in him than he actually did. Nero had been in her situation plenty of times, getting himself unarmed and then hunted down by some scumbags, but he had never got an easy way out. Why would Nero offer something that he had never had the luxury of to this stranger? Simply because she was female and in danger? Well, in a way, that was pretty spot on. Nero was just about ready to tell the desperate girl to stick it up her ass, then let natural selection take its course, but one word she said stuck out to the boy. 'Please...' Such a common word to most people, but Nero rarely ever heard it being used sincerely, this being one of the few rare cases he heard someone saying it to him specifically.
Still, even with the girl's use of the word please, Nero was really tempted to just turn around, leaving her there without so much as a word. He had no reason to involve himself with this girl, he had a completely different reason for being in this world, one that wouldn't require any sort of fighting for the boy, a very welcome and rare job for Nero indeed. Getting involved with a girl getting chased down by thugs, while chivalrous, wouldn't be very beneficial or smart for the boy. Looking down at his dog, Nero had expected the mutt to be his usual self when it came to morality, but even his mutt had an unsure look on his face in this case. Could Nero really just walk away from this girl feeling nothing? He was pretty much a heartless bastard in most cases, but this seemed just a bit too much for him. The mere fact this girl was asking for a strangers help, that spoke volumes to the teen. She must have truly had no where else to turn if the best idea she could think of was to approach a stranger for help, an armed one at that.
Aiming his gun down from the girl, Nero would let out a sigh, looking straight at the girl and shaking his head. "Alright, slow down for a second there. Let me try to address this as carefully as possible." Reaching into his side-pouch and pulling out his map, Nero would hand it to the girl before continuing. If the girl would look at the map, she'd see a simple layout of the area with a thick teal line outlining the path Nero was following. On the top left corner of the map, Nero would have a list of objectives. The objectives would read: "1: Get the damn emerald and shut Trojia up. 2: Find a way to perform a snake genocide in the jungle (optional.) 3: Stop someone from sneezing at the salad bar. Find a way, save a life." Of course, only one of these objectives were actually serious, but the teen would slightly hope the girl would take them seriously, but he figured she had a bit more wits than that. After all, she was able to tell Nero wasn't an enemy in the dense fog.
"As for your first remark, I'm not referred to as friendly very often, but I'm not out to murder you, if that's what your looking for. That map should help figure out where you are, despite it being vague as hell. If you're heading in the same direction as me, maybe I can help you get your weapon back. If not, I dunno, I'll get you someone who gives a crap. Really chick, I don't know why you're expecting a stranger to help you in the first place. Just plain idiotic." Crossing his arms, Nero would wait patiently for the girl to finish up with his map, as he would need it back before he could leave this area. Of course, he'd technically need her answer as well, but that was of far less importance to the boy. Sure, if they were going the same way, Nero would help the girl get her possession back, but it would in no way become the boy's priority. If he bent over backwards to help this girl, he could already hear the ear-full he'd get from his mentor, so it was better not to dwell on that.
Nero wouldn't want to acknowledge it, but the girl did ask if he had a spare sword or something she could use. So, not only did this idiot ask from help from strangers that were armed with firearms, she also thought it was normal to ask for a weapon from said stranger. Cute. Raising an eyebrow, Nero couldn't help but feel sorry for this chick. She just had a nice essence of pathetic about her, as if you could just smell the shame of having her weapon stolen from her, but that still wasn't enough for the boy. Still, he'd have to humor her, perhaps give her the possibility that she could use one of his weapons, but he wasn't planning on going through with it. After all, it's not very smart to hand a newly-met person a fully loaded gun, that's just asking to get your head blown off. "Well, seeing as I'm not an idiot, I don't really hand over weapons to people I just met. With that whole 'not an idiot' thing in mind, why on earth would I carry a sword? Out-dated-ass means of attacking. Really, the best I could even offer you is my rifle, but I'm still not even sure I could trust enough to let you wield it without blowing my head off and looting my dead body. That's how most stranger interactions work in the real world, doll."

Honestly the girl wasn't expecting much, but she was hoping the incentive from a possible reward would trigger some interest at least. Seemed the guy couldn't care less about what the girl could possibly offer, as that was the only reason she could think of for him making this super complicated. Maybe she had to spell it out further, place more emphasize, or make him think about it a little bit until he found something that was worth helping her for. That was probably the only way she was going to get this guy to help him.
Still, she looked at the map a bit to confirm her orientation; with a decent sense of location (not so much direction however) it wouldn't take her long to really figure out where about they needed to go. She couldn't help but notice a few scrawlings in the corner though, and if she wasn't so exasperated from this whole incident she would be inclined to giggle a bit at the idea of a snake genocide (but it was still optional). She liked that he had a sense of humor, maybe they could get along if they had some proper time to be acquainted. Placing her finger on the map, she drew a little circle. It was bit off from the path indicated on the map, but only in terms of a minor detour rather than being something incredibly far out of the way.
"Around here." She said after speaking, since she knew what she had to say next. "And no, I'm not really expecting a stranger to help me for no reason, which is why I offered a reward. Think of it as a 'quest' opportunity or something, complete an objective and get something worth your while in return. I can pay you money after this is over, I can help you with whatever you're out here for, that emerald or something, I don't know. I'm pretty desperate." She may have also wanted to say that she was a little scared, but due to her ultimate back-up plan, there wasn't too much she really had to worry about.
Unfortunately, this guy was far more grounded in reality than she ever could've expected. There was a certain air in this universe that most of the people she met fed off from, due to being a bit more empowered than usual, simple things of this nature weren't nearly as complicated. In fact, if she thought it were plausible, JessY would believe this guy was from the same Earth she came from. He seemed to have a very self-aware attitude and a mentality regarding other people as chaotic and unpredictable. Sure, he made plenty of sense, but this is the first time she's encountered someone she thought would be realistic to find back home. Well, there was a first for everything. In order to deal with a real person, she needed to switch back to her old tendencies. Unfortunately, she already admitted she was desperate though.
"Well, all things considered, you'd be surprised how many people rely on melee weapons, like me for example. Next, damn you for being one of the most competent human beings I've met in a long time, though I guess that's necessary if you don't have any superpowers or anything like me. So we have that in common. But, despite the fact that I do know how to shoot, I guess you don't really have to lend me a weapon." With that, she darted off to the side and started scouring the ground. An old habit of hers from her childhood days, a useless talent that was finally paying off. with a jungle, and much trees and shrubbery, there had to be-- aha! JessY lifted up a sturdy-looking fallen branch, a bit heavier than she would've liked but the length was nice. She swung it twice, then clocked it really hard against a tree twice as well, determining that it was solid. She returned to the guy.
"The name's Je-- JessY by the way." For some reason she couldn't get out of the habit of her old name. Sure, she could've kept using it, it was androgynous enough, but she wanted something more definitively feminine all things considered. At least her two names started with the same syllable, making the declaration of her name a simply stuttering issue as opposed to a slip of some sorts. At least, that's what it seemed like anyway. "So, since it's not really that out of your way, may I have your assistance?" she asked one final time. She didn't want to assume he was going to help her at this point, but maybe there would be a stroke of luck in her favor for once and he would agree. She even felt better now that she had some way of defending herself, albeit primitive.

It never failed. No matter where in the world the boy found himself, he'd always find some scenario, something to complicate a plan the boy already had in motion. Really, Nero was becoming a bit salty towards the whole thing. He was pretty sure that offering to help this girl would end up doing more harm than good, but did he really have a choice at this point? She had basically forced him into helping her, giving him her name and pointing out that they were heading in the same direction. Nero would have no reason to deny the girl company with that being the case, that'd just be awkward. Though, the thing that would really catch the boy's attention would be JessY mentioning she also had no powers. Yeah, he'd believe it when he saw it. So far, just about everyone he had run met after losing his home world had some sort of abilities or powers, he doubted some random girl in the jungle would be any exception. If anything, she was most likely weakened without her weapon, making her on Nero's level. The fact she hadn't specified just what her weapon she had gotten stolen was only made Nero put more faith into his theory. So, if Nero was correct in this situation, he was basically just being used by this girl until she could get her weapon back. Fair enough, depending on her payment, perhaps Nero could make a quick buck escorting this chick to her weapon. He may have been here on a seperate journey, but this would just be more munny for the boy, which was always enough motiviation for Nero. Though, watching the girl return to him armed with a branch, Nero would really begin to wonder about this girl's wits. She had just been chased by thugs, most likely armed thugs, and her first idea for a weapon was a branch. It seems like a sword wasn't primitive enough for this girl, she had to bring it back to the cave man days. This was already becoming tiring.
"Hold on there, Unga the cave man, do you really think that branch is gonna do crap for you?! Before we get into other matters, I really wouldn't recommend going after the people who just disarmed you with a goddamn over-sized twig. It's like you're asking to get your ass handed to you." The teen was beginning to see just how this girl must have lost her weapon. If this was her best idea for a weapon on the fly, would she even be wealthy enough to give him a decent reward? Well, stupid people could have munny as well, look at someone like Cheri, it wasn't impossible that this gil could have a fair amount of munny on her. No, the question was more along the lines of was this even worth Nero's time. His mentor had been having a fine time bitching him out over his radio, he could only imagine the old man's reaction to him helping this complete stranger. Still, the more Nero thought about, the more likely it seemed JessY must have had some way of paying him. After all, she was confident enough to offer a reward in the first place, going as far as implying that the reward is why Nero should help her. perhaps it could be something. Placing his hand on his chin, Nero would open his notebook, jotting down a few notes about the girl, her goal and possible payment methods. Being that she was female, Nero had written down a personal reward as a possible offer from this girl, but he'd quickly erase it. This girl didn't seem like the type to throw her body around to get what she wanted, at least from what Nero had seen so far. After a few more seconds of his ponderings, Nero would make up his mind, closing his notebook and shooting the girl a glare. "Regardless of your idiotic weapon choice, I think I can help you out. Not for free of course, I'm not a damn charity case here, but if you do want my help, I'm gonna need to set a few ground rules."
Holding out his right hand and extending a finger, Nero would continue. "First off, keep your history to yourself. I don't give a damn about your background, I'm sure you don't care about my background. Everybody wins." Extending a second finger, Nero would list off his second term. "Secondly, as far as I'm concerned, this is just a job from now on. I'm not doing you a favor, we're not friends, this is just business. So, you know, keep your eyes up here" Extending his third finger, Nero would chuckle a bit, not very used to giving out his third preset term he stuck to, as it was a normally unspoken term. "I normally don't even give this one. but your use of a stick worries me. Don't be an idiot, I really can't stand it. You seem smart enough to function, but just don't play with sticks anymore. It's just plain silly. Looking at the girls's branch in her hand once more, Nero would roll his eyes before turning around to his mutt and clipping his rifle off Koji's back. Popping out the clip and looking at it to make sure it was fully loaded, Nero would jam the clip back into the rifle, examining the sights. Before looking back towards JessY, Nero pulled out three clips for the rifle, moving a bit hesistantly. As much as Nero would love to leave her unarmed, he felt that she'd just be a liability if he left her as she was. Turning towards the girl, Nero would hold out his rifle to JessY, pulling it back in towards himself if she would try to grab it from him right away. "Look, I can't have you swinging a stick around if we get involved with those guys that were chasing you, you'll just get in the way. Just know this, if you try anything, and I mean anything, don't think I'll hesitate blowing your pretty head off." holding the rifle out once more, Nero would allow the girl to grab it this time, though his face and voice would be lacking the usual sarcastic essence that they normally had. In fact, Nero seemed closer to dead serious than anything, an emotion that Nero rarely ever had to use. If the girl would take the rifle, Nero would hand her three spare clips before turning away from her and openning his map.
Looking to the spot where JessY had indicated her weapon was located, Nero would cup his hand over his eyes, trying to see if he could make anything out in the fog, but with no avail. Muttering a curse under his breath, Nero would look at the girl, snapping his fingers before he addressed her. As embarrassiing as it was, Nero had truthly forgoten her name, making his attempt of addressing her a bit of a pain in his ass. Though, after a few awkwards moments of Nero trying to get his brain working, he'd finally remember the her name, thus finally able to ask his question. "Goddammit, it looks like the freaking fog is getting worse, I was at least able to kind of see when I first got here. JessY, do you have any kind of recallation of where exactly you came from? Might help us find this place faster. Even if JessY wasn't sure of where she came from, Nero was sure they would find the way back on path with just the aid of the map, it'd just take a little longer. Though, with the mention of the girl's name, Nero would be reminded that he had never given the girl a name to call him by. He had been to busy insulting her and laying down his rules, it must have crossed the teens mind. "My name's Bleu by the way, the dog's name is Koji... You know, I normally start with this.." Still, trying to make out what he could of both the map and the fog-filled area, Nero would let out a grunt of annoyance while waiting for the girl's reply. It had only been a few minutes at most since he had agreed to help this girl, and here he was, already regretting it.

Despite being rather victorious about finding such a solid branch on her first try (that never happens, by the way), of course this guy finds a way to rain on her parade. Except, she wasn't mad in the slightest - at the mention of her new nickname, JessY burst into a quiet fit of laughter. "'Unga the cave man' Jesus Christ that's funny," she said under her breath, though clearly audible for the boy. Despite his lecture, the girl did eventually manage to look up and calm herself, giving him a slight smile before saying "Aww, you underestimate me, honey." Clearly he did, she was a forced to be reckoned with all things considered.
Unfortunately, he wasn't the type to humor her - at least, not quite yet. He agreed to help, but then said something so obvious JessY couldn't help but interrupt briefly before he started the rules. "If I thought you'd help me for free I wouldn't have offered a reward before you even had a chance to reply in the first place. Sheesh." So they were on the same page for that. She had some money to give him; she didn't particularly need it for much though she had a habit to be a penny pincher - though anything would be worth it to get her weapon back honestly. If the two of them sold their bodies to science, the amount wouldn't even be close to how much her valuable possession was worth. And science is generous for live human subjects, she would know.
Still, at the conclusion of his ground rules, she couldn't help but laugh again. This guy definitely underestimated her, but she knew exactly why and wouldn't be offended. He would just have to see for herself why she was dubbed 'The Swordmaster' back home. Regardless, she was still pretty much all on par with these 'ground rules'. "No backgrounds? Just business? Wouldn't have it any other way. Let's get this shit and get out." From seeing him as a very grounded-in-reality individual, she thought he would appreciate her 'let's get this over with ASAP' mentality since he was probably thinking the same thing. She could stand for some dawdling or lost time or even spending more company, she was honestly curious as to who this person was since she had the feeling they might get along pretty well, but until she had her weapon she wasn't going to risk anything quite yet. Maybe by then he'd be curious too, who knew.
After receiving the rifle and some further instructions, JessY first slid the large branch into the pack of her hoodie until it threaded out the bottom and guided it into her back pocket. She was not going to be without a melee weapon, no matter how silly it seemed. Upon actually receiving the gun however she quickly shouldered her rifle and got into a solid stance and aimed down sight to get a feel for the weapon. From her posture and handling she definitely looked like she knew what she was doing with the firearm. The only discrepancy was that she held the gun in a left-handed way. Might look a bit awkward at first, since the firearm was certainly designed for a righty, but she would manage. "I understand. Honestly I appreciate it, I feel like once this is over I should do more than just pay you money! If you think of anything let me know." She looked at him and gave him a genuine smile - nothing that spoke mischievously or made any subtle implications. Just... a grateful smile.
Though, before the new duo could even take a step, he seemed a bit lost. The fog seemed too thick to make anything clear out. Lucky for him, JessY was very keen in her observations and would make getting back to her drop point a cakewalk. "Hi Bleu. Well, it's just a matter of retracing my steps really. Being hyper observant, I can conclude that we must walk about fifty to seventy paces--" she said, pointing ahead of them, "that way, another seventy five to one hundred and ten paces that way," She angled her point about forty degrees, paused, and angled it back close to where she initially pointed but not exactly. "and finally two hundred and fifty paces that way. Not too far at all. I'm surprised the dickheads lost me that quick." And so, they had their directions, JessY would start walking and would politely adjust her pace as the boy caught up.
Having reached near the end of their first set of spaces (of the three), JessY held her arm up and signaled for Nero to stop, then turned to him and put her index finger over her lips to signal to be quiet. "Hang on to this for a sec and stay here," she whispered to him, handing him the rifle, then put her hand on the base of the stick sticking out from her back and turned back toward the direction they were headed. If the boy listened closely, he would be able to hear some rustling not too far in the distance, though nothing made it clear as to whether it was a human or a wild animal. Still, she went on ahead and hoped that Bleu implicitly trusted her, since this was a bit of a risk. Should he stand still, within ten seconds there would be complete silence, follow by the sound of a loud crack followed by a brief "Ah--!" and then a slightly louder rustle. After about fifteen more seconds, JessY came prancing back with the biggest smile on her face, swinging her branch around in a circle, bolstering some cool new stuff!
"Good news! In just three swings of what you wish your wood could be, I knocked out one of the dickheads after me. Nabbed myself this machete, a handgun and a strap of clips, and a sweet canteen. These dudes really know how to party. Anyway, guns are unnecessarily loud, hence the smack-down. Hope you can forgive me." As she spoke, she gestured to the machete that was now clipped around her waist (with a new belt as if she nabbed his entire kit), the handgun she acquired, and the canteen also on the new belt for Nero to see. "Leggo!" she said, sheathing her stick in a similar fashion to how it sat before, pointing her new gun forward in good form, and moved forward regardless of what the boy might say. She wouldn't even go on about her sticks usefulness, deciding to keep the bragging to a short and simple penis joke. she wouldn't even ask for the rifle back or anything, since he was so pissy about lending it in the first place.

Cute. Seems this girl felt she had to prove something to the boy, despite how uninterested in her Nero seemed. Even worse, JessY seemed very inconsistent with her motives. Even though at first she seemed fine with his strictly business rule, she would go on to tell the teen to let her know if there's anything she could pay him back beyond. For once, it seemed a female in Nero's company didn't hint at sexual payment, this one seemed more genuinely just trying to be friendly, something that sickened Nero a bit. Why on earth would the boy seek any kind of friendship with this girl? She couldn't possibly believe that he would see something as pointless as a friendship with a stranger as another form of payment, could she? Whatever. Nero would just shake his head and rest his hands on his hips "Yeah, no. The munny is fine." He would sound pretty blunt and stone cold, but internally the teen was a bit confused. The girl was already having help from Nero to get her weapon back, why the hell would she offer more than necessary? Really, other people's thought process made the boy's head hurt. With how long he had been in this strange universe, he was pretty much certain that everyone in it was either an idiot or too goody-goody for their own good. Of course, there was the third group of people who acted so sugary-sweet, Nero always felt he'd get diabetes just for merely being in their presence. Thankfully, JessY seemed to not be the third type of people, at the very least.
Still, perhaps she was just a tad more useful than Nero had given her credit, as she pointed out that she would be able to retrace her steps due to her being hyper observant. Hyper observant? Well, that was a new one. He didn't care about the reason she had been able to retrace her steps, he just cared that she was able to retrace them in the first place. Though, with the mention of her 'losing those dickheads' Nero rolled his eyes ans sighed. Honestly, he really doubted she lost them, if anything, she only lead them to this section of the jungle, one that seemed really easy to sneak up on her. He would attempt to open his mouth, but instead would just smirk and look away from the girl. If she really wanted to believe she had shaken them, Nero would let her. After all, it was no skin off of his bones, as he was sure he could handle these guys, especially if this girl had been able to get away from them unarmed and on foot. Seemed there just wasn't good thugs for hire these days, a shame really. Following his new employer for a bit, Nero would she her signal him to stop and be quiet while handing him his rifle back. Nero would assume the girl heard something, but wouldn't offer to come with her for back up or anything like that. She seemed confident that she could handle this, so Nero wouldn't insist on coming with. After all, Nero got annoyed when people also insisted on not letting him check things out on his own, why would he do the very thing he hated to the girl? He was a lot of things, but not a hypocrite.
Watching her sneak away from him and his dog, Nero would kneel down beside his dog and begin to draw a game of tick-tack-toe in the patch of dirt besides the duo. During their game, Nero would hear the slight sounds of what he believed to be a confrontation of some sort, but would hear a faint rather masculine yelp, putting his mind back on the game he and his dog were playing. Seemed like whatever the girl had heard (which Nero assumed was one of her pursuers at this point) she had been able to take care of, as she popped out of the bushes, looking a bit smug. Nero would listen to what the girl had to say, but wouldn't be addressing it just this second. Instead, Nero held up a finger towards her, turning his attention back to he and Koji's almost finished game. Looking his dog in the eyes, Nero would watch as his dog would make a 'O' next to another one of his'O' marks, thinking he had this in the bag. Shedding a smirk, Nero drew an 'X' next to his dog's previous move, preforming a fist pump as he circled his diagonal three 'X' marks he had made throughout the game. "That's right, eat that, Koj!" While his partner gloated, Koji would let out a low growl as he began to grind his paws through their game, effectively erasing it from existence. "Awww, is somebody a little salty? Come on buddy, I didn't raise a poor sport." Walking up to the dog and pulling the bag off of his dog's back, Nero would clip the one-strapped bag on himself before petting his partner on the side a bit= and turning back to the girl. Now registering what she had said, Nero would laugh out loud a bit. Not only did she think three swings was impressive, but she had to result to insulting the boy's size? Just adorable.
"Three swings, eh? Hey, maybe when can find you a tricycle on the way there for you to ride as well, seeing as you appeared to be able to take out a guy in the same amount of swings a toddler would. I could've taken the person out with less effort with only my bare hands, but you know, proud of you, sweetheart." Rolling his eyes and walking over to his dog, Nero would clip his rifle to his dog's back and continue to walk forard. Honestly, the best thing to come out of her gloat to the boy was the fact that she seemed to not need his rifle anymore, allowing Nero to not have to worry about not having access to it for this adventure, thankfully. He may have offered to let her use it, but he had a strange hatred for anyone else touching his guns, as if the person boring the gun could ruin them somehow, which could seem a bit absurd at times, but Nero wasn't exactly the most rational person. The fact she could handle herself was good to know though, just for the fact that Nero wouldn't have to babysit as much as he originally thought he'd have to. Though, the fact that JessY had to take out one of the thugs did confirm the boy's theory that the bastards were in the area, still searching for the girl. Unfortunately, that also meant that they would also be after Nero now, as he highly doubted these guys would just want the girl if they saw her traveling with an armed ally. It wasn't like Nero would expect them not to be after him after accepting to help JessY any way, so this wasn't much of a shocker. Nero would shrug off the simple dick joke, she was obviously wrong about it, so it didn't bother Nero that she thought so little of his manhood. If everything went the way Nero was expecting it to go, she wouldn't have to see it anyway. Though, Nero wouldn't be able to let his mind stay on this fantastic subject for too long, as the boy would hear footsteps rather faintly in the distance. It wasn't anything too rapid, just enough to let the three of them know that'd it'd probably be best to head out of the area as fast as possible. Remembering JessY's directions, Nero would place his hand on the girls shoulder, attempting to stop her lead.
"Call it just a hunch of mine, but I really think I should lead us through this next section. I dunno... I just have a bad feeling about this place, like bad sushi-bad. As much as I would love to crack a 'you suck ass' comment here, it's really just not about that this time." Although Nero was usual a sarcastic asshole, this time time the boy had a much more sincere tone behind his voice. While he was playing his game of tick-tac-toe with his mutt earlier, Nero had noticed some strange looking things around the area. For one, the boy had noticed what looked like a few animal traps here and there, but that just seemed a bit odd considering that this part of the jungle was uninhabited according to his map. Add that to the fact that JessY's pursuers had just arrived here, Nero had a recipe for an extremely fishy sandwich. Taking a look at his dog, Nero would nod to his partner, signally the mutt to walk backwards behind the boy. It was a very simple maneuver, but an effective one. With Koji having his eyes watching the rear, The duo would have every angled covered, a tactic that Nero and Koji had both mastered and used often. At first, Nero thought JessY would be a bit weirded out by how much of an odd relationship Nero and his dog had, treating each other as equal partners rather than a dog and it's master, but then he realized that this girl had probably been in this universe longer than he had. A teen and his dog working well together... that wasn't something that could be considered a strange sight in this universe. Before leading the way, Nero would turn to the girl, giving her a smirk. "If I'm remembering correctly, you said you don't have any powers like me. Well, that's not necessarily true. I have a power, it gives me the worst luck imaginable, so I've developed a damn second sense when it comes to things going wrong. Just trust me on this one."
Walking until about half-way through the next set of paces, Nero would stop in the middle of the path, seeing a thick log in the way. Approaching it and looking down over it, Nero would see a steep hill, leading down to a lower section of the path. Looking over to his left, Nero could see that there was a tree-filled path that appeared to lead down to the section below. To Nero, it was pretty obvious the the girl must have run up the winding path to reach the top of this hill, as running up that steep of a hill while being chased would be a pretty dumb move. Looking over the edge one more time, Nero would vault over the log, turning back to his two allies behind him. "Come on, it'll be a little less stable, but it's faster and God knows the faster we get this over with, the better." Resting his hands on his hips, Nero would scowl and raise an eyebrow at his dog as Koji growled. "What, you really wanna go around? Doesn't that just seem a lit-." Getting his sentence interrupted by one of the men chasing JessY jumping down from a tree, Nero would be tackled by the man, sending and and his attacker plummeting down the slope. Throwing a few weak punches while he rolled down the hill with his attacker, Nero would attempt to reach for his gun, but would quickly get stopped by the thug, getting his pistol thrown out of his holster. Just when Nero was thinking the he and his attacker were about to reach the bottom of the slope, Nero felt the ground he was tumbling down give in, prompting the boy to grab on to a root sticking out of the ground, watching as his attacker plummeted down the recently made opening in the ground and onto a bed of bamboo spikes at the bottom of the shallow square-shaped hole. Looking down at the man before pulling himself up, Nero would let out a nervous chuckle. "Yeah, I think you got the point, asshole."
Pulling himself up, Nero would dust himself off, being a bit surprised to see his dog holding his pistol in his mouth, his tail wagging. "I know, I get why you were growling now. Maybe if you were freaking able to talk, we wouldn't have these damn issues. That one dog and that hippy had some sort of talking thing down." Grabbing the pistol from his dog's mouth and shoving it in his holster, Nero would pat the dog on his head, showing him he was just joking around. Kneeling down by the dog, Nero would look down into the trap that he had just activated, feeling a little worried. Even if the chance of these men setting up traps in this place was unlikely before, it seemed downright impossible now. There was no way the thug would have pulled that move on the boy had he known there was a spike pit there, no matter how idiotic these people chasing JessY was. Shaking his and standing up, Nero would look at the girl with a bit of an annoyed look, "Watch your step, JessY, this freaking place is booby-trapped to high hell. These traps don't belong to old pointy Jervis over here either, they look far too old for that. Like, really too old for these jackasses to make them. Lets just make sue to watch what we touch, I'm sure there's more brutal traps than this around."

Well, wasn't he a bucket of praise. She fully expected him to not care in the slightest but to go as far as an elaborate retort? JessY wanted to be mad, but she chalked it up to this kids ego. She's definitely familiar with the type. "Touché, dick bag." she wasn't going to let him off that easy, but continuing to argue wasn't going to help anything. She liked this stranger a lot less, then again he was apprehensive about her coming to him for help at all so she couldn't really blame him for any of it. More of the journey continued in silence, but as the girl signaled that they make their turn, the boy decided to take charge of things. Despite his disdain for the girl as he expressed before, he voiced some concern about a bad feeling and made it as clear as possible that he was legitimately worried. Well, alright then. "...If you say so." It was a simple reply, she had no qualms. Having pointed them in the proper direction, who lead was barely an issue. He went more in depth however. His superpower was the sheer negative direction of his luck. She could honestly relate. "...And trust me I'm quite used to bad luck as well. I won't make comparisons but I totally understand."
Not too far down the way, the hill she cleared not too long ago had come up. Oh yes, getting up here was fun, though Bleu didn't have to suggest to her twice to just go straight down. Except they would be rudely interrupt by the sudden onslaught of a thug. JessY raised her firearm, but didn't trust her aim enough to fire. They were tumbling down the slope, and next thing she knew, they seemed to fall through the ground. A few moments later, just the boy emerged. JessY let out a sigh of relief and took in her surroundings, listening carefully for the faintest of rustles and looking closely for the slightest of movements. There didn't seem to be anyone else in the immediate vicinity. JessY would be on high alert for now as they drew closer to their campfire circle. Oh yeah, that might be helpful to mention.
Before she could really interject however, the boy and his dog had some meaningful conversation. It wasn't unlike owners to talk to their dogs if they were close, but why did it seem like Koji actually understood every single word the boy said? Maybe it was her imagination or something, but she wouldn't think anything was strange quite yet. He mentioned the traps, which made JessY feel even dumber since she should've already have known that. "Ee-yeah, my bad, I forgot to mention that we're heading to a camp circle made by the thugs in the middle of ancient tribal grounds with plentiful deadly traps... I kind of have a bad memory." Hey, at least she was honest.
"My pendant should be just outside of the encampment, I was sloppy when I engaged them and it got ripped off when one of them tried to grab me, and since I can't really fight without a weapon, I ran... Hmm... I wonder if I'm forgetting anything else..." she spoke, but went into thinking aloud toward the end, but intently. She still walked forward, as careful as always, advancing despite any additional conversation he might have to add. She believed they could talk while they walked, but with traps, that probably wasn't a good idea. Hash tag blonde moment? Perhaps. "Just keep an eye out. There were definitely more, uh, what are they called... the branches that are held back and spring forward the moment they're messed with. There's those instead of tripwires, mostly, so that's a thing." It probably wasn't much additional information, but it could help. Assuming there weren't any more pitfalls, the girl could easily make it down the hillside and keep on truckin'.

Oh, she just kept getting better and better. She forgot to mention that her pursuers campsite was littered with tribal traps? Was she kidding? Raising an eybrow at his dog, Nero would only be able to shrug at the dog, seeing that Koji was just as confused as him. "So, wait a second here... You have a bad memory, yet we're following your directions that you remembered? Yeah, that seems like a logical idea." Rolling his eyes, Nero would wait for the girl to make her way down the hill. Luckily for her, it seemed that there were no other spike pits left on the path. For saying she had just as much problems with bad luck as the boy did, he was honestly expecting her to plummet down a hole herself, but then again, perhaps that would be considered good luck to Nero. Of course, Nero wasn't hoping she'd fall in a pit, he wasn't that heartless. Although he barely knew this chick, Nero had agreed to help her get her weapon back, meaning the teen wouldn't be so quick to abandon her. Being both a treasure hunter and a hired gun, Nero was one of the few in the business to actually have a sense of loyalty, often sticking with the side who had hired him, even if the other side seemed more profitable. Though, one thing that did peak the boy's curiosity was the girl reffering to the item these men stole as her pendant. Didn't she hire Nero to help get her weapon back? Last time the boy checked, a goddamn pendant was in no way a weapon. Really, the only people who could even get use from a pendant as a weapon were... oh crap. No, not another magic user, why did everyone have to be magic users?! Were weapons not good enough for people? Gah, it bugged the crap out of the teen.
Putting this realization together, Nero would want to rid himself of this girl even faster. Being forgetful, dumber than a sack of potatoes and a magic user, she wasn't impressing the boy too much so far. Still, Nero had to give her a little credit, as she did have some slightly useful information about the types of traps she had seen while running through this place, but even then Nero was a little unsure. This chick had just mentioned she had a bad memory, could any of this really even be taken as solid evidence? Whatever. It's not like Nero was a stranger to tribal traps any way, as he had set off plenty in his day's of plundering treasures from jungles. Nero never liked the idea of tribal traps, especially when the tribe was long gone. The tribesmen are all most likely already dead, why just make your treasures harder for people to get? They weren't gonna use them any more. Though, the teen would snap out of his inner ramblings, remembering that after making as much noise as he did while being attacked, it'd most likely get some attention from the other thugs. "Well, isn't that genius of these assholes. Make a camp around a butt-load of tribal traps, I'm really seeing how it payed off for them." Resting one hand on his hip, Nero would look over towards the thug in the spike pit and smirk. Sure, it was a bit sadistic for the boy, but screw that guy. That was almost Nero in that pit!
Watching as the girl walked past him, Nero would consider taking the lead again, but would instantly just shake his head and follow the girl. It'd be nice to see someone else get a nice scoop of bad luck and set off a few traps, as Nero was not looking forward to a jungle full of traps. If Nero could say JessY had done a good job at one thing thus far, it'd be that she was very successful in adding quite a bit of an unnecessary challenge to this expedition of his. Fortunately for JessY, Nero would bite his tongue, keeping his bitchiness to himself for a change. He honestly wasn't sure how JessY would react to most as his comments, as his caveman insult had made the girl laugh, yet his retort to her comment seemed to upset her a little. It wasn't that Nero cared about upsetting or making the girl laugh, it was just more annoying to the boy than anything. He really appreciated consistency in people, but JessY seemed to lack this quality. Pulling an apple off of a tree while walking behind the girl, Nero would toss it to Koji while he decided to break the silence. "You know, if this is a little 'too not businessy' feel free not to answer, but what exactly did these guys want from you? Setting up camp here and coming decently armed for one girl, well that just seems a little silly, wouldn't you say?" While he was making conversation, Nero and Koji would be kicking the apple back and forth, as if playing a game of hackey-sack with it. Continuing to kick their makeshift ball, Nero would watch in horror as his mutt kicked the apple into the trees on the side of the path, causing a terrible creaking noise to echo in Nero's head.
Staying completely still, the teen would hear a similar sound coming from the tree directly above JessY, giving him a good idea of what was about to occur. "JessY, get down! Not like dancing get down, like on your ass get down!" Nero would say the first the bit of his warning rather clearly, but the last bit in a very fast tone, sounding a bit frantic. If the girl would not get down or step out of the way on her own accord, Nero would attempt to grab the girl's hood and pull her down on her back before what Nero had feared would make it's appearance. As soon as the boy got his back to the grassy floor of the jungle, he'd watch as a massive log with worn-out iron spikes hammered into it came rocketing down from the tree above them, barely passing over the boy. Continuing to swing a bit past the teen, the log would smash into a tree to the back left of Nero, it's iron spikes causing it to get stuck into the the other tree. Nero would be just about ready to sit up and make some smart ass comment about how close that was, but instead would have his attention stolen by an even worse sight than the log that had just attacked hims and his allies. With the force of the log hitting the trees, a large group of birds would fly out of the tree and upwards, acting as an instant signal to any of the thugs chasing them in the immediate area. Even when JessY lead the way, it seemed Nero's luck would taint this adventure, making every second of it a living hell. Though, to be fair, any moment Nero had to spend with another human being he considered a living hell, so his luck wasn't affecting too much. Scrambling up to his feet, Nero would rush up to the girl, offering to help her in any way he could before opening his mouth with actual input.
"If you can move, I highly suggest we do so. Damn birds had to have attracted some attention, probably both from the scouts out here looking for you and the thugs back at the camp." Looking around the immeadiate area, Nero would scowl a bit, attempting to find a less open path. After all, with having multiple armed-men's attention, the more cover a path had, the better. Taking cover behind a nearby tree, Nero would kneel down, grabbing his rifle off of his dog's back and aiming down the sights towards the way they had came in from. "If we're gonna do this, I think our best option would be to stick to the trees and avoid confrontation as much as possible. Seems a bit cowardly, but I'm not sure just how many men these guys have brought, but it's your call. Your the employer, unfortunately." Shedding a smirk as his finished the sentence, Nero would be genuinely interested in hearing the girl's choice, as she hadn't had a chance to prove if she was worth anything to the boy yet. He may have seen her as an idiot from the get-go, but that was when it came to trust in strangers and general sense, not anything like this as of yet. Whatever JessY chose, Nero would be willing to go along with (not completely word-free, however.) Though, saving time for a well-earned scowl towards his partner, Nero would shake his head at the dog. "One apple. You did all of this with one goddamn apple! Honestly, I'm not sure whether I should be pissed or impressed... maybe both. Impissed."

"...Don't ask. It's like a trigger memory, once someone brings it up I suddenly remember all about it." Perhaps explaining her memory thing was a waste of time, but she truly did know where she was going. Getting her weapon back was important to her, and the most important part of retrieving it is making sure she was properly oriented and knew exactly where to go. Assuming the baddies didn't pick it up, she can clearly see in her mind exactly where it dropped (and how she didn't have the luxury of jumping for it, as it most likely would've cost her life). Regrettable, but hey, things were looking up. "You should see why they're here in the first place. It's hysterical." Of course, that was only to reply to him pointing out the thug's genius, but she wouldn't go into any details he didn't want to hear. After all, he was interested in a 'business-only' relationship, and if he didn't particularly care why they were here, then she wouldn't share. Regardless of what was said, they pressed on. The girl kept a lookout, the faintest of sounds or the slightest of movements would not be foreign to her, but luckily for all of them, nothing seemed to come to fruition. Speaking of separating social conversations from business ones, he seemed to be curious as to why these guys were after her in the first place. The girl would let out a short, low laugh, since he had the flowchart pointing in the wrong direction. She wouldn't be afraid to admit that, though. "You got it all wrong. I'm pretty sure these guys wouldn't even know I existed if I hadn't attacked them first. I'm one of those pathetic hero types who tries to do good, I guess, er-- right, business, I'll just shut up."the girl was about to delve into recent internal debate regarding morality, but she was pretty certain he couldn't care less. She was like him in a lot of ways, but she wasn't that far.. gone? Yet. It was a touchy subject. Maybe the boy wasn't just gone, but annoyed. She understood that perfectly. Before the conversation could really evolve much further, JessY would hear a heavy branch release and Nero shouting at her. She saw the log as it began to fall, and with quick reflexes embedded into her spine, she fell back straight to the ground, making sure to turn as she fell so she was flat on her stomach. The log swung over them and smacked into a tree, JessY peeked up to see if it was about to fly back but it wasn't; that log was definitely lodged tight. There seemed to be another problem to worry about - all kinds of winged wildlife scattered into the air. This would be a clear signal that something was going on here, what's worse, someone was close enough to catch right up after seeing that display. Luckily, they were clumsy enough that JessY saw movement far enough away. [ And the chase music begins!] "I have a better idea, but really quick..." JessY said as she flipped the hand gun around her finger and tucked the barrel into a pocket, then reached for the machete and pulled it from the sheath. She spun it around her wrist twice and flicked it back and forth across the front of her body, reared back, and gave it a solid throw. A second and a half later, an audible 'Chyaa--!' could be heard. Seems she struck a target. "Like I said, hyper observant; while it's not as good as that aura sense shit that ------ JeY has, it's good enough!" She casually mentioned the name, mostly to herself, since she seemed to talk to herself out loud. While it was a subtle brag more so than anything, the last bit was completely inappropriate, but the fact that she was able to operate quite well without her weapon and with the chaotic man's help, the concept just couldn't leave her mind. It probably wasn't healthy to be so fixated at a time like this, but regardless. "Regardless! There were five thugs total, there are now three down, the other two I bet are sprinting from where they looking for me. If we make a B-line for the encampment, we'll get there first, get my shit and get the hell out of there. Leggo." She sprinted first, up to the thug she skewed from afar, the machete sticking out of the center of his chest. Unfortunately, he didn't seem to be unconscious or dead, and she cringed at the thought of finishing him off. She reared her foot back and clocked the guy in the head as hard she could, effectively knocking him out for real this time. She twisted the machete before pulling it out from him, making it more likely that he'll just bleed out before he wakes up. "You'll thank me later," she said, before continuing on. Seems they weren't the only ones with bad luck - as they ran, JessY noted multiple previously-activated traps, and wondered if five was the amount they started with. These were seriously deadly, and unlike the games, sharp points and blades didn't just cause mild agony and knockback - these were the real deal. But, so long as she got her pendant back, everything would be fine. Yes, just a little more, they were almost there... and not before long, they came up to a slight clearing with small canvas structures strewn about. Nobody was around. "This is it! Now..." It was between the two closer tents, she remembered clearly the angle and everything. Looking along the ground, she had to find something shiny and metal... seems like it wasn't here! That's... impossible? Did one of the thugs pick it up? "I... I can't find it! I think one of them took it off the ground!" JessY ran back up to Nero. "Did you see any of them wearing a silver chain with a dragon claw pendant? That's what we're looking for!" she said, frantically going back to the ground in the vicinity of where she swear it dropped, and combing the entire surface time and again. It definitely wasn't on the ground, and she couldn't remember if she saw one of the guys wearing it. There were two thugs left, but... who was the one that grabbed her? Did he even take it? So many questions, but without definite results, the girl was seriously freaking out.

Watching as the girl would begin her odd prep, Nero would blow some air out of his nose, continuing to observe as the girl threw the machete into a foe ahead of them. Again, Nero would be bugged out of his mind by the girl's constant need to reassure herself and everyone around her that she wasn't a piece of shit, but there was something she muttered aloud to herself that would instantly set his temper off. The name JeY may have been a slightly common name, (well, at least the way it was pronounced) but hearing refer to this person named JeY's aura, Nero was certain about the prick she was referring to. It really seemed like she just wanted Nero to like her less ans less, which she was doing a mighty fine job of, but he wouldn't bring up that blind-folded asshole right away. He knew better than to stir up drama during these kind of moments, as his mentor had always taught him to not to lose focus in a high-risk situation. "You lose focus, you lose your head, kid," his mentor would always tell him. Hell, Trojia would beat him with a shoe if he knew the teen even considered bringing up a personal grudge during a job, let alone if he would attempt to bring it up in the midst of a fire-fight. "Alright you got him, what do you want? A goddamn cookie?" Giving the girl a scowl, Nero would rest his rifle on his shoulder, placing his free hand on his hip and looking down towards his dog as the girl went into detail about the thugs chasing her.
As JessY mentioned that making a b-line for the encampment, Nero would shake his head and smile. The fact that she was putting so much faith in her pendant being in the area she had lost it in, it really amused the boy. Even if these guy's weren't here for any kind of treasure, who the hell wouldn't pick up a shiny pendant? A quick buck is something that Nero had seen very few people turn down, especially when it came to the people who were in the business of making camps in the middle of the jungle. Nero should know, as he was one of the people who had his own camp in the middle of the jungle. Though, he couldn't blame the girl, as she had pointed out earlier that she was one of those 'pathetic hero types.' She may not have finished her entire statement, but Nero knew where she was going with it. Basically, she was an idiotic goody-goody who had far too much faith in humanity and would always put out her neck for others. If Nero had anything close to compassion, he'd say her type was commendable, but he only see her and her type as naive fools. In fact, she fit the image that Nero now had of her in his head even more now, watching as the girl seemed to use a very odd way to put a thug out of his misery. If only she could do the same to Nero and spare him from all of this. "Oh, for God's sake, chick!" Rolling his eyes and letting out a grunt, Nero would shove the sight of his rifle through the man's head, putting him out of his pain instantly rather than waiting for the man to bleed out. Looking at the girl after performing the dirty deed, Nero would wipe the blood on his gun off using the man's shirt. "These guys are out for your blood, the fact that you even considered putting this jackass out of his misery is mercy enough. Sheesh, you don't need to get all compassionate Ann on them, you Ghandi-ass idiot."
Nero wouldn't sound angry, he was just slightly annoyed with the way this chick presented herself, but he wouldn't push it any farther than that. Nero couldn't be too much of a jerk to her about this, as he could recall when he was first training with Trojia, having the same problems of wanting to do good like she did, but he wouldn't try to fix it any farther than that. If JessY wanted to make the idiotic choice to be a hero, that was her business, and Nero couldn't care less about her life decisions, he just wanted the munny. Following the girl a bit farther with a nice-paced jog, Nero would look at the wonderful scenery of set-off traps at their sides, smiling while he looked at them. He wasn't happy that the thugs had all died gruesome deaths, (though, he wasn't sad about that either) he just knew that with every trap he saw, that was one less trap Nero had the chance of setting off. It was a great feeling, knowing that the chance of a random spike-lined wall wouldn't pop up out of nowhere, a feeling that Nero didn't get to experience very often. Though, he wouldn't have too much time to capitalize on this opportunity, as he'd hear JessY shout out that they had arrived to their destination. Was that really the best idea? Calling out that you're arriving to the bad guys camp, it just seemed a bit silly. Regardless, they had made it to their destination.
As soon as they arrived, Nero would watch with a bit of a smug smirk as the girl headed straight to a certain part of the camp, wasting no time. Judging by her body language, Nero could tell that where ever she had counted on this pendant being, it didn't seem to be there. As much as the teen would hate to say he called it... he kinda did. Looking at his dog and shedding a smile, the two would both be sharing the same smug feeling as the girl came running up to Nero, seeming extremely flustered. With Koji letting out a stange high pitched grumble while tilting his head, Nero slightly chuckled. "Yeah, no kidding. She's acting nuttier than candy-bar shit." Smiling at his dog while he spoke, Nero would turn his head back towards the girl, rolling his eyes and putting on a more sarcastic smile. "Alright, first off, lets calm down a little bit, sweetheart. No, I didn't see any of your fan-boys back there hanging onto the pendant, but I'm sure either whoever is calling the shots or the guy who had grabbed you. Seeing as how you probably use some sort of magic bullshit to use a pendant as a weapon, the odds of any of these guys picking it up thinking it was a weapon is pretty low. Some jackass probably saw it as a nice looking accessory that could go for a decent price. Well, if these guys have any shred of common sense, that is." Looking down at his watch, Nero would look a little displeased, scanning the encampment area before nudging his dog on the shoulder. "Koj, scout out this place for any trace of these guys. You get so much as a whiff of them, just holler for us, buddy." petting his dog on the head, Nero would point towards the side of the camp, prompting Koji to begging sniffing the ground, doing as Nero had asked him. Oddly enough, this was probably one of the few times that Nero would actually ask his dog to behave like... well, a dog. In fact, watching his mutt sniff around for any sign of these thugs felt very unnatural for the boy, if not borderline wrong. Nero saw Koji as much more than just a pet, as he treated the dog with more respect than he would to an actual person, but having the dog preform this kind of task, it made Nero feel as if he were degrading his best friend.
While his dog would be searching the area, Nero would reach into his side-pouch, pulling out a roll of bandages. Holding out his left arm, Nero would see that he was bleeding, most likely from when he had gasped the root in the spike-pit. It wasn't anything too bad, just a simple gash from his am scraping against the root as he grabbed onto it. A small price to pay for being spike-free. Wrapping his minor cut on his left arm, Nero would bite off the access bandage before holding out the roll to JessY. "I haven't really been paying attention to you, but if you need to cover up any boo-boos, I recommend you do so now." He wasn't sure if the girl had gotten hurt in any way or if could heal herself, but he figured he owed her as much as an offer. He may not have liked her, but he had some sort of obligation to help her if she needed it, even if she did seem to know JeY in some way. Speaking of JeY, Nero would be very tempted to call the girl out on her mention of the man he hated ever so much, but would have the opportunity taken from him by his partner's bark. Sadly, he'd have to wait to give the girl crap about even mentioning his name around the aggravated teen. Jogging up to to the dog, Nero would see his partner looking back at him, standing over an indentation in the dirt. "Nicely done, Koj. I'll take it from here, buddy." Pushing his dog out of the way, Nero would kneel down besides the footprint, seeing that it seemed to be heading out of the area... only it wasn't headed towards the way JessY had ran from the men. That was peculiar.
Looking towards the direction the print was heading, Nero could see another faint print a bit in the distance, causing him to feel a little curious about why one of the thugs would be heading the wrong way. They were pretty dumb , but not running the wrong way dumb, something had to give here. "I think there's a good chance whoever took your pedant went this way. Maybe they were going to hide it from the others, but it's kinda impossible to say at this point. Just get your ass moving, we don't have a better lead anyway." Signalling Koji to lead on, Nero would follow his mutt as he lead on, making sure not to screw around with an apple this time. The last thing he wanted was to set off another trap. After a nice little hike, Nero would almost bump into his dog as Koji came to a sudden halt, prompting Nero to look over his mutt. At first Nero wanted to give Koji an insult because he had stopped moving, but withing seconds the teen could see why the dog had stopped. Just in front of the group, there was a square-shaped hole once more, only this one looked more decorated than the one from before. Walking up to it and touching the stone lining of the pit, Nero would begin to marvel at the relics carved into the jade rock. Seemed like more of the old tribes people's work, only this one seemed less deadly and more tomb-like. Flashing his light down the pit, Nero confirmed there were no spikes at the bottom, then turned back to his dog. "So, you're positive the man's scent leads down here? I'm not exactly the biggest fan of entering a damn creepy pit in the gound for no reason." Rolling his eyes and nodding his head at his partner, Koji would give Nero the answer he didn't wanna hear.
Letting out a sigh and shrugging, Nero couldn't help but laugh to himself a bit, thinking about how his bad luck never failed him. "Of course you're sure, 'cause it'd be too easy if the damn pendant was where JessY had dropped it, wouldn't it? Ugh, I swear, I'm a freaking crap-magnet. I just end attracting all the shit in the universe to myself until I'm in one big cap stew. Beautiful." Hanging off the edge of the pit, Nero would blurt out another smart-remark. "Don't take that too personally, you two." With that, Nero would let go of the edge, dropping down the pit a bit before landing at the bottom with a roll and flicking his flash light on. "Careful, it's a bit of a deceiving drop. In other news, there's enough damn dust down here to make a freaking desert." Shrugging off his partner's rambling, Koji would also take the leap of faith, landing softly next to the teen before looking up at the girl, waiting for her to jump down. Looking in front of them, Nero would grunt a bit, looking at the dusty, mildew filled area that this man from the thug's camp had gone. "Let's just get the damn pendant before any of us catch a damn disease down here."

Unfortunately, rather than get to the girl, it would only make her excited. "You have cookies and've been holding out on me? Jeez!" Of course, by her reaction of just continuing on anyway she knew he really didn't have any cookies and wouldn't make any bigger of a fuss. She could really go for some cookies though, to be honest, but there were more important things to worry about here. Like getting to that camp alive.
Ignoring his ruckus until they got to the camp, JessY was pretty much at the boy's mercy at this point in order to get her prized possession back. The fact that things didn't go quite according to plan always made her freak out a bit more than necessary, since she wasn't so sure of the outcomes now, being left in a state of utter variability made her quake in her boots quite heavily. Even though the boy decided to be quite the jerk about it, at least he remained helpful. That's probably the only thing that kept her from flipping out at this moment since she definitely didn't have the patience to deal with the shenanigans from someone like Nero.
So, he got done with his explanation, but made the mistake of calling her technique 'magic' based. Since she said so determinately before (and has always believed so) that she doesn't use magic, this would create a misunderstanding. JessY hates misunderstandings quite substantially. The boy was in for an earful of junk he didn't care about as a result. "Magic? Excuse me, but that generator is capable of producing a hyper-dense polymer with perfect malleability that is only breakable by a matching frequency of energy, like a sound wave is only negated by other equal sound waves. Not only that, but the metal beads tune to your nervous system and brainwaves to emulate a seamless connection of desire versus function, making the user capable of generating the polymer at-will with no delay. Just because it glows 'n' shit doesn't make it magic, you freaking casual. The Internet must be magic to you, too."
Oops, maybe that last one went a little too far. There was no Internet here, at least, not as far as she knew. There may be wireless device and even computers capable of FTP, but there was probably no World Wide Web. She still had to get used to the nuances of living in a video game world, it seemed. "Well, if you've even heard of the Internet." Well, she wouldn't let that drag on forever. She got her point across - or did she? "Regardless, advanced technology is certainly not magic. If you want me to explain it I will." Well, it was a little more than what was necessary for her rant, but at least she had the decency to end it there. She was certain the boy wouldn't care, and would probably to continue to dismiss her trinket as magic anyway.
From there, addressing injuries was next it seemed. She didn't feel hurt anywhere but she was sprinting through the jungle so it was quite possible. She took the roll instinctively, looked around, and saw a tier of scraped on her leg. "Huh. When did those get there?" At least they were low enough where they didn't mess up her orange ribbon, she didn't know where it came from exactly but she quite liked it. She rubbed on the wound a little with her hand to dislodge anything that might've been sticking out and then wrapped the roll around her leg and tied it off tight, ripping it at the end instead of biting it herself. Checking the rest of her exposed skin, there wasn't anything else that needed addressing. She tossed the roll back to him. "Thanks!" She sounded genuinely appreciative; and of course she was.
It wouldn't take too long before the dog alarmed them of something interesting, leading them eventually to a pit in the ground. With zero other leads and knowing the capabilities of a well-trained dog, what choice did JessY have anyway? Ignoring the fact that the boy was talking to his dog like a human being again, she would take his advice about the drop, though not before instinctively trying to make a fireman's pole with her energy first. Oops. Welp, this was going to have to be done the old fashion way then! She would crawl into the pit and then push off and turn, getting forward momentum, rolling after she hit the ground as well, springing right to her feet with the pistol in hand. She didn't care about not making noise anymore. "I like your thinking." She agreed, proceeding directly next to him.

Watching the girl land and then open her big mouth to Nero, Koji would let out a low grumble, causing the teen to roll his eyes and scowl. "Right? And we're the 'casuals' here." After his partner would make an odd snarl sound, Nero would laugh quietly to himself and pat his dog on the back. "Couldn't agree more, bud, with a capital 'C'." Normally, Koji was a bit nicer to strangers than Nero was, especially ones that were in distress, but he seemed to be as down on this girl as much as Nero, perhaps more so. Nero could only assume that it was the girl's long insulting tangent she went on to the boy earlier, a tangent that didn't really bother the boy at all, but it seemed like it bother Koji a bit more. Still, it was nice for the teen to have his normally friendly mutt's support in being fed up with this girl, meaning this whole situation would be a lot more enjoyable for him. As Nero continued walking, his attention would be drawn to a lone vase on a pedestal on the side of the path the trio was walking on. Seeing as this seemed to be some sort of tomb, it wasn't very shocking that there was some sort of valuable down here, as many tribes would bury their fellow tribesmen with their valuables. No, Nero was a bit suspicious about the angle of the vase.
Being off center to the pedestal it was on, it left with a pretty good idea of what it was. After waiting for his fellow pit-explorers to walk past the vase, Nero would walk back towards the vase, holding his hand out behind him, signaling his dog to stay back. Grabbing a moderately sized rock that was besides his foot, Nero would prepare his demonstration. Acting extremely fast, Nero would yank the vase off of the pedestal, placing the rock where the vase was and preforming a backwards roll in one motion, narrowly escaping the bamboo spike that would protrude out of the walls surrounding the vase as soon as it was moved. Landing in a crouched position with one arm touching the floor, Nero would be holding the vase in the other hand as he stood up and dusted himself off. Once the teen stood up, he flinch back a bit, seeing what appeared to be another one of the men who had chased JessY in the spikes as they sunk back into the walls they sprung out of. Turing back to the two of his allies, Nero would rest one hand on his hip while he used the other to hold the vase up, examining it as he spoke. "Figured as much. I wouldn't recommend touching anything shiny in this place. Most tribes set up traps to dispose of grave-robbers, even for something as seemingly worthless as this.... drinking vase." Despite almost being turned into Swiss-cheese, Nero would have a very calm and light-hearted tone, even pausing a bit while he identified the vase he had just swooped from the trap.
Before continuing, the boy would turn the vase upside-down, watching as ash would pour out of it. "Of course, anyone thinking of drinking out of this vase, may want to rethink that idea. Really sad that idiot risked his life for this, it won't even fetch that good of a price." Shaking his head as he got side-tracked, Nero would slip the emptied vase into his satchel before continuing. "Anyway, point is, just stay close and keep your hands and paws off of any valuables in here. This was an easy trap, who knows if the next one we run into will be so simple. Come on bud, lead on." Stepping out of the way, Nero would allow his dog to pass him, continuing to sniff the ground and lead further into the pit. Unfortunately for the three of them, the thug who was killed by the spikes couldn't have possibly been the one who had made the footprint in the dirt, as he didn't have the same scent that Koji had been tracking. To provide further evidence, the man in the spikes looked to be rotting for about a week by Nero's estimate. An estimate that was most likely right, given with Nero's experience with finding rotting corpses.
Following his mutt to another chamber in the tomb, Nero would see another large square pit in the center of the room, causing him to scowl and cross his arms. He already hated where this journey was taking him was taking him as soon as he dropped down the first pit, seeing a potential second pit made the teen more than a little aggravated. Raising an eyebrow at his partner, Nero would nod his head forward, giving the motion needed for Koji to continue leading on. As Nero feared, the dog would stop at the pit and look down it, much like he did the first time. Letting out a sigh and kneeling down next to his dog, Nero would once again flash his light down the pit, seeing that there was no spikes once more. "Whoever this asshole is, he seems to be rather familiar with these tombs. There were a lot of different routes to take back there, but he found his way here... I dunno, something just doesn't add u-doh shit!" While the boy would continue to ramble on, he'd feel the ground beneath him give in, prompting him to push his dog back as he plummeted to the ground landing on his side hard. Nero would have much time to complain, as once the teen opened his eyes, he'd see a a large chunk of stone falling right for his head. Rolling to out of the falling piece of stones way as quick as possible, Nero would instead bump his head on another hard stone surface as the falling stone fell the ground and missed him.
Grasping his head and grunting angrily at the structure of stone he dodged in to, Nero would shine his light on the object, seeing that it was simply a bottom step of a staircase. Chuckling to himself a bit as he stood up, Nero would aim his light at the top of the stair case and wiggle it around. "See, look at that, just like I planned. Found a staircase that should be a lot more pleasant of a trip for you two. Just try not to buckle your knees together on the way down." Waiting for his mutt to make his way down the stairs, Nero would rest a single hand on his hip while tapping his foot, looking irritated. "Alright, Lassie, just how far are you gonna lead Timmy into this well? Really Koji, you're sure this jackass was able to find his way down here, 'cause from what I've seen, these guys would be lucky to find their ass with both hands, let alone that staircase." Hearing his dog grumble, Nero would watch as the dog tilted his head towards narrow doorway that appeared to lead down an even narrower staircase. Squinting his eyes a bit, Nero would aim his light a little above the narrow doorway, revealing an odd depiction of a powerful looking man. "Judging by how powerful they made this guy look in his mural here, I'm guessing this is the chief's tomb. I know I said watch your step before, but really, watch your goddamn steps here. As with most tribes, I'm assuming these idiots saw their chief as having some sort of divine connection with their Gods, or at the very least being a messenger for them. So as tempting as any of the valuables in here may be, don't touch a single one. I have a feeling the man who stole your pendent probably got his ass killed in her. Stupid-ass grave-robber."
Squeezing through the doorway, Nero would take a deep breathe before continuing. "Welp, into the lion's den.... well, kinda. I mean, given the dampness and darkness down here, it's more like 'the spider's den' more than anything. Or snakes, granted, there's any source of warmth or lig-." Being interrupted by his dog's bark, Nero would shoot his partner a glare as he began to squeeze his way further down the staircase. Reaching the bottom, Nero would wait for his dog to reach the end of the staircase before flicking the dog in the head. "That's for interrupting me, douche." Giving the dog a playful smile, Nero would walk over the the right wall, pulling a unlit torch off of it's holder before pulling out a lighter from his satchel. "Good thing Troy let us borrow this, would've been a bitch to light this thing otherwise." After a few attempts at getting a light out of the lighter, the final flick of it would work, allowing Nero to light the old torch and hold it behind him to the girl. "Here, make yourself useful." Though he was being a bit of a jerk, Nero would say the line with a bit of a chuckle, letting the girl know he was just having a bit of fun. Resting his hands on his hips, Nero would take a deep breath before continuing forward. "Alright, it's showtime."

Oh great, more side conversations with the dog. She really wondered if the two understood each other to the degree that the boy let on. It was probably useless to try and pick it apart, it was more entertaining than anything, but it seemed everyone had some sort of vague telepathy than her. Well, that wasn't true. Just a couple of-- nope, pretty much every adventurer she met had a telepathy aspect about them. Even if this one was as simple as a boy and only his dog, it was something. It's something she's always wanted; and teleportation. Oh well. That douchecock JeY can choke on it and die.
The first big surprise of the tomb raid was Nero almost getting impaled. "Christ, be more careful, eh!? I can't have you die on me, not until I repay you!" the thing is, she sounded genuine. She definitely cared about Nero at least a little, no matter how much he irritated her it seemed. It wouldn't feel right o see his life claimed before him because she was the one in need of help. She has enough weight on her conscious dragging him into this in the first place, him dying would probably scar her for life. Nero suggested for her to stay close and keep her wits about. "Trust me, I'm not gonna stray far if at all."
This would've been where she would physically clutch to him as they walked, but without romantic interest or the desire to get too close really as she feared he would deck her in the face or something, she simply in close proximity, probably closer than the boy liked, but she was nervous and felt pretty naked without her weapon she's become so dependent on. Of course she was armed and had a way to defend herself, but it wasn't the same. It couldn't possibly give her the security and confidence she felt whenever she would have access to her Ability Energy.
They would manage to get in some decent distance before taking a short stop, leaving Nero to contemplate the scenario while JessY eagerly listened. Unlike their coverage of the tomb, his speech wouldn't get far before the ground suddenly crumbled. "Bleu!" she cried out reaching her hand. Her instinct was to catch him with a quick flick of her energy, but she didn't have any, thus he went plummeting. Her stomach sank the deepest pits of the abyss and she feared the worst, rushing over and looking to where he fell exactly. It wasn't that bad of a fall it seemed, no spikes, so he was alright. And better yet, there was a staircase now. Huh. She laughed off her previous worry and headed down to meet him.
Some exposition about a chief, a bad joke and a lit torch later, JessY grabbed hold of the burning stick but put a hand on the boy's shoulder to stop him from moving. "Hang on. Perception check." She stepped just in front of the boy and reared her arm back, launching the torch down the path, carefully observing the hallway as it was lit. The torch landed with two bounces and a slight skid, but still in-tact and lit. "No holes in the walls or floors, ceiling looked stable, no obvious markings." She walked briskly to the torch and picked it back up, holding it in front of her, motioning for Nero to follow. She kept her eyes everywhere but straight ahead, not seeing anything indicative of a trap.
Making her way a decent ways along the hallway, eventually the light from her torch would branch out a little as if there was an opening. about ten more steps in, they would find themselves in a large, wide-open circular room with a big hole in the middle that went straight down where the bottom couldn't be seen, with the area littered with tribal-looking artifacts made from wood, stone and bronze. There were also many, many skulls lying around, a lot of them with jewels embedded into one or both of the eyes. There was one torch holder with a burnt stick on the opposite side of the walls, and markings all over the ceiling the spiralled in various directions. Off tot he right were a couple modern shovels and a pick axe, an unlit lantern and a very short coil of rope. There was definitely human activity here recently.
"...Not to sound like an idiot of course, but light the lantern there and drop this torch down to see how far it goes?" she would say after getting up from lying on her stomach and holding the torch in the hole, not seeing anything that indicated the bottom. It was her best idea, but if he could come up with a better one, that would be cool too, so she would run hers by him first to make sure that would be the case. If and when something goes down there though, there would be a decently long drop and a decently tall layer of water sitting in the bottom.

After handing the girl the torch, Nero would instantly feel JessY's hand on his shoulder, prompting Koji to growl out her as Nero slid his shoulder away from her and poised himself in a fighting stance. Though, He'd feel extremely foolish as the girl continued on to throw the torch ahead of them, testing to see if there were any kind of traps in the hallway they were in. Seemed the boy had been turned on a bit much in his past, as even after JessY said she wouldn't take his help for granted earlier, he still appeared to have little trust for her. Still, the idea she had was better than Nero had given her credit for, but he'd just shrug it off. Holding up a hand to the girl, Nero would give her a fake smile as he place his free hand on his dog's forehead. "Easy, bud." He'd say to the dog, calming him down before he would attempt to address the girl. "Yeah, the throw the torch idea was pretty good, but I'm not so sure about the laying a hand on me idea. Koji isn't too found of others touching me, even something as subtle as that touch. But, still, good thinking."
Something definitely was odd about Nero's mutt being so hostile to this girl, it left the teen with a bit of an unsure feeling towards JessY, as if he wasn't already negative towards her. Koji was normally the welcoming one of the two, wooing strangers over with his dog-ness and what not, but Koji just seemed to have a blatant dislike for this girl. The only guess Nero had was that this girl really must of had some sort of connection too JeY, the only other person Nero has seen Koji downright hate. Of course, Nero already had a pretty good feeling she did have some sort of connection to that prick, but to him, Koji's dislike for the girl was a confirmation of this. Following the the trail that was revealed by the thrown torch, Nero grunted at the sight of more steps. Seriously, when this tomb was carved staircases must have been a recent discovery, because these people were using them as if the were the new trend. Luckily, this staircase was rather short, only being about eleven steps by Nero's count, so it could have been worse. Besides, Nero was more amazed with the with the room the trio had just entered than he was annoyed with the overwhelming amount of stairs in this place.
Crouching down to the side of the doorway, Nero would run his hand against the wall, looking like a child on Christmas. Feeling the indentation in the stone, Nero smirked to himself as he pulled out his notebook. "I've never seen anything like these markings, this could be a freaking undiscovered tribe!" Scribbling down rough sketches of the tribesmen's markings, the teen would have his focus broken by the sound of his dog dropping something beside him. "Come on, Koj, I'm not in the mood right no- hello!" Quickly grabbing the jeweled skull Koji had dropped, Nero held the skull up, flashing his light on it to get a better look. After a few seconds of examining the skull, the teen would pat his dog on the side as he began to pluck the jewels out of the skull. "Nice find, bud, but I really wouldn't recommend putting these things in your mouth. Do you know how rotten this thing has to be? Ugh." After cleaning the skull free of jewels, Nero would continue his grave-robbing ways, picking up multiple skulls of the ground and doing the same to them.
As JessY opened her mouth, Nero only gave her a slight glance as she shared her idea about dropping the torch. Hearing her say 'not to sound like an idiot' would instantly put a smirk on his face, even making the boy chuckle a bit as he gently took the torch from her hands. "Trust me, the not-sounding-like-an-idiot ship sailed a while ago..." He'd say as he knelt down to the lantern and light it with the torch. "But as far as ideas go, you're going two for two as of now. Keep it up, JessY, you're starting to have some worth." Smiling at the girl as he set the lantern at her feet, Nero would hold the torch out over the hole and drop it. As he and his dog looked down large hole, they'd see the torch fall for a good while , finally ending with a splunk. Wincing a bit at the sound of the torch hiting the water, Nero could only shake his head as he glanced down at Koji. "Great, it had to be water. Perfect. 'Cause, you know, no day is complete without getting soaking wet!" turning his head towards the pick axe to his left, Nero would walk in it's direction as he continued.
"So what, about a thirty foot drop with a large body of water at the bottom?" JessY may have expected the question to directed to her, but she'd be surprised to her an odd grumble from the dog first, as Koji lowered his head, then tilted to the side. "Hm.. So, a medium body of water? Well, I trust your ears more than my own, bud." As Nero was examining the pick axe, the teen would see four shovels next to them, causing the teen to have a spark of genius. But, he'd have test it first. Sticking a shovel through one of his holster straps, Nero grasped the pick axe in his hand tightly, readying himself to see if his plan would actually work. Running up the nearest wall a bit, Nero pushed off of his legs for a jump, sticking the pick axe into the wall at the peak of hit. After hanging for a few seconds, the teen wiggled the shovel out of his holster, shoving it into the wall below him a bit. To finish his test, Nero let go of the pick axe, landing on the handle of the shovel with a bit of a wobble. "Bingo." The teen would mutter out as he reached up for the pick axe and hopped down from the shovels handle.
Walking up to the hole while spinning the pick axe in his hand, Nero would smirk at his two allies. "Well, this is going to be exhausting" Nero would say in a causal tone. Grabbing the short coil of rope that was only about five feet by Nero's guess, Nero tied one end of it to stone slab the was at the top of the hole. The slab wasn't too large, but it appeared to be a part of the hole's structure, so the boy could only assume it'd hold them. Sliding down the the short rope, Nero would turn on his flashlight and clip it on to his holster, looking further down the hole only to see darkness. Well, this wasn't going to be fun. Letting go of the rope, Nero would try to time his fall to allow himself to drop about five feet before slamming his pick axe into the wall, stopping the boy's fall. Looking up toward the top of the massive pit, Nero whistled for his dog, resulting in Koji grabbing a shovel in his mouth and dropping it over the ledge. As the shovel plummeted down the hole, Nero extended his arm, snatching the shovel by it's handle and laughing to himself a bit. "Nice drop, bud, keep up the accuracy!" Squinting his eyes up towards the top, Nero would shout out to JessY. "I'm gonna plant these shovels down the hole as foot holds every five feet or so. Once I got them in place, just wait for Koji to go down, that'll be your signal!" Nero figured he better tell the girl while she'd be able to hear him.
Forcing the shovel into the wall, Nero would drop down another five feet. Repeating the same process as before, Nero and Koji would work as one, quickly planting the four foot holds down the hole methodically. Landing on the fourth and final shovel handle, Nero shined his flashlight's beam towards the water below him, seeing that the water appeared to be a sickly, murky green in color. Letting out a sigh, Nero would just shrug before preparing himself to jump in. After all, it could have been worse, as Nero had just turned a thirty foot drop into one that was closer to a five or ten foot drop. A win in the unlucky teen's favor for sure. Taking the leap of faith into the murky depths, Nero would quickly emerge for the water, cough a bit before he whistled as loud as he could. Now, if he had set the shovels down in a completely straight line, it'd seem almost impossible for his dog to use these makeshift foot holds, but luckily for Koji, Nero was a bit smarter than that. The shovels instead were placed in a zigzag pattern, making it easier for both Koji and JessY to make it down the large hole.
Hearing his partner whistle for a fifth time, Koji would look down the hole in front of him, whimpering a bit. Looking back at Jessy, the dog would give her a nod, his way of trying to tell her to hurry down after him. Of course, Koji highly doubted the girl would get that impression out of him, as it seemed that only Nero could really understand him. Which, Koji couldn't really blame her for not understanding if she didn't, as she hadn't had the years of bonding that Nero had with him. Hell, he hadn't even offered his paw to the girl in a handshake, of course she would understand him. quickly hopping down the foot holds, Koji would make it to the fourth shovel without too many hiccups. Sure, the dog stumbled a bit here and there on his way down, but Nero wouldn't judge him on that. He had to give his partner credit, he was a freaking dog who landing on the handles of shovels and balancing on them.... with four legs. This definitely seemed like something that'd win a dog show.
Looking up at his dog on the last shovel, Nero would laugh at the dog before he jumped in. "Come on in bud, the water is just as cold and unpleasant as it looks!" Growling at Nero, Koji would suck up his nervousness and jump into the pool of shame and murk. Surfacing quicker than Nero ever could, Koji began to swim solid ground to the left, requiring assistance from Nero to make it up all the way. Pulling himself on onto the land on his own, Nero would quickly shine his flashlight around the room, revealing the room as another tomb-like room, but this one seemed much more streamlined than the others, only having one path down the middle. This room didn't seem as open as the ones before it did, so Nero wasn't sure just how far this pendent thief could have gone from this point onward. Turning back the towards the water, Nero would kneel down beside the ledge of the room the two were in, waiting for if or when JessY would make her way down. If she was able to make it down to the water, Nero would offer her a hand up to the small ledge they were on to get her out of the water, but this was more of a formality than anything, despite how the girl may see it as.
"You know, the farther we go in this place, the more I'm hoping there's another way out of this place." the boy would say think aloud to his dog, resulting in the mutt letting out a low bark as he turned his head away from Nero. "Well, if you're gonna start playing the blame game, I'm just gonna come out and say the typical thing. You smell like wet dog, bud. Yeah, that's right I went there." Hopefully JessY wouldn't have to be stuck with these two for much longer, Nero assumed it must hurt to see someone talk to a dog more than they talked to them.

Apparently JessY could never do anything right without first doing something equally as wrong. just touching mister Bleu was a bad idea all of a sudden, mostly because of the dog, but it was a simple gesture. She didn't want to use her voice to alert anyone who may be down the hall, the torch was going to cause enough noise and alert them, but at least with the torch they'd have the advantage of sight at that point. Regardless, noted, don't touch him. Cross another one of her favorite things to do off the list. touching people in general, mind you!
They seemed to make no problems though, of course, cue the typical 'loot everything' mentality. JessY had enough money to her name for now, she just wanted her weapon back and everything would be great. she considered this a bonus to the already generous pay check she planned, which would just be a win for everyone here. Still, they needed to find a way further, and apparently it was going to have to be down the hall - as sifting through the entirety of the space warranted no subtle secret switches or any hidden pathways. Oh well. By the time she was done, the boy already had some crazy-ass way down the well without just straight jumping. "Oh okay well uh... Don't die!" she would call down as she was already one shovel deep. Interesting.
It took him a little bit of time, but whoever went down here last must've pulled the rope or whatever they used to get down, though if they get the girl's weapon back before they have to come back up, there will be no need to worry about that. She was so excited, they must be getting so close. She was giddy with anticipation. Not too much though that she noticed the dog do a little jig down the makeshift ladder. quite impressive really. It still creeped her out that he just talked to the dog like they understood each other, but she was starting to get used to it. At least with Scooby Doo you could understand the dog too.
Well, it was her turn now. No need to be fancy, no one was really looking, but it was nice to see the boy's flash light shining at the bottom. Here goes nothing! With some tight jumps and swings, she made her way down until she was on the very last of the shovel handles, to which she took another glance at the water and thought about hows he didn't really want to spend the rest of this trip soaking wet. Well, she had an affinity to water, but not wearing wet clothes that caused her to shiver so hard she could crack bones with her teeth chattering. Actually, that gave her an idea. "I uh... I'm on the last rung but gimme a sec to get undressed first, it'll make this easier!"
Isn't that something every boy wanted to hear while alone with another girl (almost). She regretted saying it already and turned red in the cheeks, but sighed to herself and decided that it was worth it. She stripped right down to her matching pink-and-orange striped bra and panties, stuffing the belt with the tools she acquired along with her shorts inside the hoody and tied it to the second-from-the-bottom shovel which she yanked out of the wall, held it up, took a deep breath, and jumped.
Taking off her clothes was the best damn idea she's ever had. she wasn't heavy in the water, and when she got to the ledge and hoisted herself up, all she had to do was take her hands and wipe off excess water and do a full body shake (while in underwear and plain sight of Nero) to be dry enough to be content, then grabbed all of her clothes from the shovel and started putting everything back on. "Don't you dare give me shit about this, I'll be a lot less uncomfortable and bitchy this way; something I'm sure you'd rather deal without." She was about halfway through putting her stuff back on at this point. "And sorry if you expected to see more, but if I get my weapon back I'll honestly show you anything you'd like." As she finished her statement, she was now fully clothed once again. A little wet in the crotch region but she could tolerate that. "You can hold me to that. I don't even care. I'm that desperate. Okay we can move on."
She would turn to start walking in the direction of the next hallway, but there was a distinct problem. Three hallways to choose from. She took one dramatic step and then made a dramatic stop and made a heavy sigh. "Orrrrr there can be split paths. Great." Okay, it was his turn to come up with a good idea now. She figured the dog could sniff him out, but the girl wouldn't be so tasteless as to suggest something so obvious for a dog to do that wasn't even her dog. That would be Bleu's job. He had a decent head on his shoulders, as much of a douchebag as he was, so she trusted him to make that call.

Sheesh, Nero saw this girl as a lot of things, but finicky was not one of them. in fact, hearing that the girl was planning on taking her clothes off before would confuse the duo, both of them being soaking wet and all. Shrugging at his partner as the dog looked at him with an annoyed look, Nero began to take off his green henley, stripping down to just the creme-colored long sleeve T-shirt he wore underneath it. Waiting for the girl to make it to the ledge, Nero wouldn't be too effected by the girl pulling herself up and ignoring his hand. He really didn't care if she didn't want to accept his help, he was just offering to make it easier on JessY, but he'd simply start ringing out his over-shirt as she warned him not to give her crap. Smiling a bit, Nero couldn't help but chuckle to himself as he continued to ring out his favorite shirt. "Well, I wouldn't necessarily count this as giving you shit, but I never took you for the type afraid to get a little wet." Standing up and turning his head towards her, Nero smiled at JessY before continuing. "I dunno, you may be a pain in my ass, but I saw you as a bit more down and dirty than that. Also, you got a better body than you let on, sweetheart."
Flicking his shirt open, it'd appear mostly dry, allowing the teen to not have to stand over by the water and stand besides the person he was talking to. He wasn't a fan of having to shout across a room to chat with someone, just felt rude in a way. Not that he was normally one to care about being rude, there were just certain circumstances in which the boy actually minded some sort of code he had for himself. Though, being beside JessY, the girl may of had a chance to see the teen's physique a bit better now, as his over-shirt wasn't as form-fitting as the shirt he wore beneath it. Add that to the fact that the shirt was wet, Nero was essentially the embodiment of a wet T-shirt contest. Just, you know, actually a male. "Something we have in common, JessY." He'd say while slipping on his green henley once more, obviously referring to his previous comment. Before she'd be completely dressed and ready to go, She'd mention the possibility of showing anything he'd like on her, a statement that made Nero laugh out loud to himself.
"Right, anything to get us to be friends. C'mon JessY, let's just find you're trinket and get the hell out of here. Why don't you hold me to that, eh?" Shaking his head as he followed the girl, Nero and Koji would share a look with each other, both of them rolling their eyes. Looking at his watch while following JessY (for the whopping one step she took), Nero would bump into the girl as she made her dramatic stop, holding his two hands up in a 'my bad' gesture. He'd be a little confused as to why she had stopped at first, but JessY would do a good job at being vocal about her reason. Honestly, the girl took the words straight out of the boy's mouth, catching him a bit off guard. Complaining about everything was his bit, she needed to cut that shit out! Patting her on her back as he walked past her, Nero and Koji approached the passage on the far right. "That'll do, pig, that'll do." Nero would after the initial pat of the girl's back. Sure, it was a bit hypocritical for the boy to touch her after chewing her ass off for touching him, but she didn't have a protective pooch on her side.
Kneeling down in front of the passage, Nero aimed his flashlight down the hole, looking over at his partner. "What do you think, bud? You have any scent on this jackass or-." With Nero moving his flashlight around in passage, he'd make the mistake of aiming his flashlight to the ceiling of the passage, awaking a swarm of bats from within it. Nero instantly dropped his head, trying to allow the bats to travel over him, but would look up too soon, resulting in one of the bats slamming into his chest before it fluttered away from him. They weren't vicious bats or anything, so as long as the girl got out of their way, the bats shouldn't have caused her any harm. "Well, that was pleasant. You alright, bud? No scratches or anything?" Getting a happy-sounding bark in response from his partner, Nero let out a sigh of relief as he began to rub his neck a bit. What was originally just a motion to wipe some water off of his neck was now turning into a frantic pat-down to the boy's torso, his breathing becoming faster and faster.
JessY wouldn't be able to see his face from where she was if she had stayed out the entire time, but Nero's face looked as if he was staring death in the face. What happened to his ring?! Had one of those Goddamn bats taken his father's ring? He'd shoot every last one of those freaking bats in this tomb before he allowed them to get away with the theft of his ring. That ring meant everything to to the boy and he'd- oh, Koji barked at the teen while his eyes were locked down the decently sized ledge in front of the passage. With lighting speed, Nero flashed his light exactly where his dog was looking, seeing that the bat that slammed into him must have knock his chain off, as it had fallen down there. How the hell did that bat even manage that? No matter, the teen wasn't concerned with how advanced the bat that had stripped him of his ring was, he had to get his ring back. Looking towards JessY, Nero would laugh a bit. "Damn bat knocked my ring down here, gimme a second. From what I saw of Koji's face before those bastards attacked, I don't think this is the way. Just stay put."
Quickly leaping down to the passages ground, Nero landed in a crouching position beside his ring, picking up the chain and fastening it around his neck as it was before. Though, before Nero was done putting it on completely, the teen would be almost scared to death by the clicking of his dogs claws against the stone as the mutt landed in the passage. "Koji! Did I not say 'stay put' up there?" hearing an aggressive bark from his dog in response, Nero would smirk at the dog while resting his hands on his hips. "Don't you get smart with me, it was directed at both of you, jackass." Shaking his head, Nero placed his flashlight in his dogs mouth and got into a boost-giving position. "Alright bud, up and over. No point and arguing about this in here." As soon as his partner gave him the command, Koji got a running start towards the boy, placing his paw in Nero's hand before being flung up to the top of the passage. Instead of walking away from the entrance of the passage like Koji had been trained to do when faced with a situation like this, the dog would plant himself exactly where Nero's boost had landed the mutt.
Really, it seemed Koji didn't even want to be on the same floor as this chick without Nero, the dog patiently waiting for his best friend's return. Within seconds, Nero appeared at the top of the passage, hanging form the ledge. Giving the dog a warm smile before he attempted to pull himself up, Nero's facial expression quickly morphed into a confused looking face, his eyes bugging out at the last second before he pushed his dog away from the passage. "Move, bud!" though the dog would look confused at first, he'd see just what his partner had saved him from as a large piece of carved stone would cover the entrance to the passage, Nero still inside.
"Oh God, my ass is hurtin'" Having landed flat on his back as the stone came down, Nero would slowly get up to his feet, waving the dust that had erupted from the ground with his landing away. Looking at the stone slab that had landed there, a scowl instantly made it's way on his face. "Perfect." He'd mumble to himself, hearing something that sounded like it was repeatedly tapping on the stone that covered the door. Shaking his head with a smirk, Nero was pretty sure he had an idea of what it was. "Quit it, bud, you're just gonna hurt yourself. This ain't gonna budge, you two. Your best bet is to keep on pushing on and try to meet me where ever this thing leads." Nero shouted out so his two allies not stuck behind this asshole rock could hear him. Though, Nero completely expected the bark of his dog that followed his statement, he still couldn't help himself to let out a sad sigh. Koji had trust issues just as Nero did, but he knew the dog would not make this easy for him.
"Don't worry, Koji, I'll be fine. I've gotten us into worse than this. Besides, I have an extra flashlight, I can actually see a path already!" Nero said in a cheery voice. Turning his back on what was once the entrance to this path, Nero took a deep breathe before he'd begin to trek this new path. "It'd be freaking amazing if any of that were true!" Nero said quietly to himself, accompanied with a nervous chuckle. "Welp, here goes nothing!"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Slamming his body into the stone one last time, the mutt finally let out a whine of defeat before slowly trudging back to JessY, something he was hoping he wouldn't have to do. Whether the girl wanted it or not, he'd rub the flashlight in his mouth against the girl's hand, an attempt to get her to grab it. Hopefully, she'd oblige, but if not, Koji would simply toss the flashlight in the air and attempt to catch it in the pistol slot of his holster, seeing as how that was empty. Sniffing the air a bit, Koji would get two distinct scents. The first one was of his partner, a scent that took a great deal of will power for the dog not to follow. The second was the same one as before, prompting the dog to follow it to the passage on the far left. Looking back as JessY, Koji would nudge his head, trying to get across the message of 'follow me, stupid' towards the girl. He'd wait for her at the entrance of their passage, not wanting to have a similar occurrence as Nero and him did. Well, maybe he personally wouldn't mind being separated for this girl, but Nero had taught him better than to abandon a teammate like that. If she was able to put her trust in his nose, Koji would Follow the girl's move.

Oh wow, she honestly expected him to ignore her and make this experience as awful as possible despite her request, but he was actually pretty tame. He had a fair point about expectations, but this was truly an exception. "Nah, your assumption was dead-on. I don't mind getting wet or dirty, but I have this pet peeve about certain levels of perfection. It's... impossible to explain, but basically I calculated that I could avoid feeling wet and uncomfortable so I went for it. This is an exception to the rule though, I swear." Of course, she thought it was truly pointless to try and justify herself at this point. Like she cared about anything she had to say. "...I don't make any sense," she muttered but definitely loud enough for the others to clearly hear her.
She still barely expected the comment about her body. Her face turned a little pink as a result, as she was certain she wasn't deserving of compliments but this was before she was used to having a body worth complimenting. She would have to get used to that, especially from boys. In fact, this whole adventuring thing is a total sausagefest, and any girls she did happen to meet are either pathetically shut-in or so clearly heterosexual you could use them as a ruler. The first thing that came to her mind was to make a reply based on how she used to be a guy, but then again, this was supposed to be a strictly business ordeal. That little bit of information was completely unnecessary. She would almost slip anyway when he made a remark about his own qualities.
"Pfft, yeah okay." She could honestly admit that she wasn't into his looks at all, but that's only because she wasn't into boys in the slightest. It wasn't quite fair for Nero, whom to other women probably did look spectacular, but she couldn't be bothered. He didn't have curves or a nice rack, so he was immediately off her list of possibilities. Unfortunately, that comment might divulge a little information about her sexuality, but probably not in that he would take it as a bit of banter meant to deny him something he felt entitled to. At least, she sincerely hoped he would pass it off that way, not that he probably cared at all. Still, nothing was changed, they were on the mission to get JessY's 'trinket' back. "Hey, I owe you remember, what does offering shit have to do with friendship? Jeez... Probably just as well because I would likely regret that promise later..."
Well, that wasn't entirely true. She seriously wouldn't care, if she had her weapon back and she as safe and sound, everything would be right in the world and he could see her naked and she'd be like 'oh well!' but in all honesty, if she could somehow avoid that, it would be preferable. In fact, it was dumb to even mention, the boy agreed from the start so why add anything new to the table that she didn't need to? Oops. Well, at least it was only nudity if anything. She could definitely handle that. She didn't care about being seen naked as a dude, it hardly mattered more now just because she was a girl. One might think it would... but only her body changed, not her mind.
And then bats. Lots of bats. Unfortunately for the bats, JessY's first instinct wasn't 'duck!' but instead 'fight for your life!' since in video game worlds, it seemed that everything was trying to kill you. With astounding reflexes, the machete was out and her impressive aim cleaved two bats straight in half that happen to be flying right at her. Oops. Her face went from playful-looking with the banter earlier to stone-cold killer expression, deep in focus for all of three seconds during the excursion. Sure it was unnecessary but reflexes like that is how she had to survive. "...Oh. Not Heartless bats. Real ones. Well I probably didn't need to do that then." She started at normal volume though as the sentence progressed she began trailing off and muttering softer. She slipped the machete back into the sheath at her side. Those poor bats. Well, it was a bit of a surprise...
Before she could receive a scolding, whether it was serious or not, from her partner here, he complained about a ring and ordered her to wait while he grabbed it. As someone who was looking for a necklace of her own, she couldn't really complain about making it a priority to fetch jewelry. She was fairly certain his was just ordinary in terms of granting abilities or anything, but it usually carried a high sentimental value. What she wouldn't expect is the stone slab shutting Nero out from her and Koji. Uh oh. this was bad. Really bad.
However Nero seemed to make the best of it by declaring that everything would be fine and they proceed without him. MAn, if she had her Ability Energy... but that's what they were doing in the first place, wasn't it. JessY just let out a sigh. "Alright, we'll do it your way! But, if you don't stuck, it might be better to not move, if I get my thing back I could pry this thing open in an instant!" she shouted back to him. Then of course, came the fun part - having to play nice with the exceptionally intelligent dog that seemed to dislike her, but yet was putting differences aside to be smart about the issue. "I don't know how you came to be this smart, but whatever Bleu did for you was amazing, you're more mature and intuitive than half the human adults I know. Well, let's do this, we won't get any closer by sitting around and moping!" She wasn't trying to cheer the dog up, she was merely agreeing with his attitude. this was also her first real attempt at speaking with the dog, wondering if it truly understood her speech.
Grabbing the flash light right away, she went with Koji to traverse the path. It was fairly straightforward, but windy. There was a fork or two, but Koji showed the way every time and JessY would offer praise at each instance. Nothing dramatic or condescending, just a standard 'hey, great job!' at whenever. However, something was severely wrong. Something smelled absolutely horrid and rotten after about five minutes of traversing the hallways. There were piles of what looked like dried mucus on various points in the ground, as well as shattered rocks everywhere. None of this made sense. Why would stuff smell like rotting corpses in a super old tomb?
Koji would bark, signalling a stranger was close by like he had done in similar situations. JessY raised her pistol, ready to confront whoever it was that stole her pendant. Honestly she wasn't expecting to find the thug so quickly after the split, but it seemed they reached the end game. This definitely wasn't the end of the tunnel, but this would be as far as JessY was willing to go. Shining her flash light straight ahead would reveal a thug with an SMG which had a flash light attached the bottom. He didn't seem angry though, his expression spoke something entirely different: this guy was terrified.
"Y-y-you! Is t-t-this freakin' thing y-yours!?" the man shouted. Without lowering his gun, he pulled out JessY's chain. With guns trained on each other, she wasn't about to shoot. She had decent accuracy, but this guy was a decent distance away with a fast-firing weapon and she didn't want to chance missing. Why was he scared of her though? ...Was it even her that she was scared of? "'Cause this is cursed and you ened to g-get this s-shit out of here!! Is this yours!?" He shouted again, before she could answer.
"Er, yeah... I came here just to get it back, is all... if you give it to me, I walk away and we both carry on with our lives?" She sounded a bit confused for sure. "It's cursed! You knew it was cursed so that we would wake them with it and have them kill us!" He sounded a bit more coherent now, but he still trembled with uncanny anxiety. Cursed? Them? What the hell is going on? "I did... no such thing?--" she tried to answer but still sounding incredibly confused, but he cut her off. He was not in the mood to deal with her confusion.
"Just shut up! Take this back, and make sure you take them with you! Make them YOUR problem now or I'll kill you right here!" Okay, the pronoun game was getting really old. Frankly, she couldn't care less about 'them', so long as she had that pendant, whatever it was that spooked this guy would be nothing to her. "Alright, I'll play it your way, I'll take everything with me." She slowly raised one of her arms, bent over, and set her handgun on the floor, slowly stood back up, keeping the flashlight pointed in the thug's direction. The thug lowered his arm, and then chucked the pendant to JessY. It landed in front of her unfortunately, but it didn't look damaged from here. She slowly reached and picked it up, and put it over head. She could feel the inkling of power rush through her again. She was in control.
"Okay, just so we're clear, who am I taking with me out of the tomb?" she asked. The thug just stood there, trembling more. Was he going to answer any time soon. "Th-th-th-them!" he said, before turning and running away. "Them who? Jesus it's like trying to-- OH HELLO!" And course there had to be dried-out corpses with glowing blue eyes holding spears and shields starting to gang up around her. "Don't worry Koji, I'm back in business with my weapon, just stay behind me!" JessY called to the dog, getting in a fighting stance.
"Heh, buncha zombies? Please!" Of course, she wouldn't be talking so big if it wasn't for the reacquisition of her prized possession really, but with the power she possessed at her fingertips now, she was allowed to get away with it. holding out two of her arms, a line of bright, glowing yellow Ability Energy shot from her finger tips and made two large slabs of energy, JessY throwing her arms out tot he side to slam the outer-most zombies into the wall, making them corpse pancakes. The energy dissipated and JessY brought both of her hands together and shot out a spiked pillar through the middle zombie, splitting it off into two forked while it still kept going straight to skewer three additional zombies behind it. this stopped them from moving, but wasn't enough to re-kill them. "You're dead! Again!" she called, before bringing her arms up and throwing them off to the side, causing spikes to erupt from all sides of the four skewered zombies, causing them to deflate tot he ground.
She could tell that they were truly ceased from being reanimated when their eyes stopped glowing. Perfect. Except, there were still two more zombies, but whatever. JessY formed her signature dual odachi blades, charging the first one and approaching it with a jump into a spin slash, cutting through its archaic shield with one blade and effectively dismembering its hips with the second. With its eyes still glowing, jessY put a blade through its skull and ended that pretty quick. The last zombie tried to puncture her with its spear, but a simple deflection broke the ancient spear in half, to which she followed up with a stab, cross, spin into a downward slice to tear the corpse to pieces. She had to stab this one in the skull too to permakill it, but regardless, it was done. The swords of light energy simply vanished in her hands.
"Alright, Koji. What do you think is more effective, continuing down this tunnel and maybe meeting Bleu, or running back, forcing the slab open and attempting to catch up? And, take into consideration, I'm one hundred percent certain I can get the slab out of the way, so there's no risk in that situation. you know him better than I, so, you get to make the choice." To talk to him, JessY turned and squatted to bring her own eyes to his level. She definitely cared about him and his master, at least a little bit, so trying to keep the abrasiveness as low as possible in times like this was pretty crucial. Have all the tasteless insult banter as they will, when stuff like this happens, it's better for everyone to be on their best behaviour.
Especially since Nero was just as likely to also run into similar dried-up re-animated corpses, except probably even more since there wasn't a thug with an SMG running down that particular hallway first.

"Might be better not to move..." Squeezing through a tight passage in front of him, Nero dropped down another ledge, landing with a roll as he continued to make his way through his sealed-off path. "Heh, right. Really, Nero, you need to start questioning your life choices." Thinking out loud to himself, Nero shuffled down a slanted piece of the path, doing his very best to put some hustle behind his steps. With every second he wasted, Koji would be left with JessY, a thought that Nero really wasn't comfortable with. He was sure Koji wouldn't get himself into any trouble, he raised the mutt better than that. No, he was worried that Jessy would end up doing something idiotic, putting his partners life in danger. Hell, Nero honestly wouldn't be surprised to see that JessY had somehow awaken the dead, that's how little faith he had in her. Speaking of, there was yet another drop in Nero's path, this one having a bit of an eerie feel at the bottom of it. Landing on all fours, the teen dropped completely silent, creeping his way into the shadows as he listened to some oddly paced footsteps that seemed to be in the same area as him.
From what it sounded like, whatever was in this passage way with him was walking very oddly, some sort of shuffling motion, if Nero had to take a guess. Keeping quiet until the shuffling sound seemed to be farther down the path, Nero's nostrils would burn from the stench that had entered them while he was waiting for whatever was on this path with him to pass. Glancing besides him, Nero saw what would appear to be some sort of corpse next to him, something that wasn't too uncommon in a tomb, but this one looked to be hiding a bit of a secret upon closer inspection. Well, besides it's putrid smell, of course. Looking at the person's face, the best thing Nero could compare it to was a chewed-up wad of gum, something a human face should never easily be compared too. Reaching for the unlit torch next to Mr.Stinky-chewing gums body, Nero gagged a bit as he grabbed hold of it, quickly shifting himself away from the corpse. "Sorry Big-League Chew, but you didn't look like you were using this anyway." Shedding a smirk a he lit the torch, Nero shook his head as he continued forward. Sadly, his humor was wasted on this rotting corpse. Koji would've appreciated it, too bad he was stuck with JessY.
Though, the smug feeling Nero had when lighting the torch would quickly fade, as taking one step further would reveal three more dead bodies, all of them looking as if something had been chewing on them. The corpses appearing to be chewed on was a little eerie to the boy on it's own, but looking closer, Nero took notice of the clothes they were wearing, all them looking far too modern to have decayed that much. Well, this wasn't too comforting, but Nero wasn't quite at the panic mode most others would most likely be at this point. He had seen extremely strange things in his days of being a grave-robber, this whole thing would most likely just end up in the "well, this just happened" section of Nero's notebook, a section full of ridiculous occurrences. Walking a softly along the path, Nero's eyes focused on yet another corpse, though this one seemed to be sitting upright, leaned against the wall. With an audible "ugh" from the teen, he'd be just about to over look this seemingly average corpse, but the shine from the brilliant blue sapphire tightly grasped in the dead man's hand got Nero's attention.
Kneeling down besides the corpse, Nero gently pried the man's rotten, clammy hands open, retrieving not only the impressive sapphire from the dead body, but he had also revealed a crumpled note in the the man's free hand. Normally, Nero wouldn't care about what a fallen treasure hunter would have to say, but seeing as how this man appeared to have died a gruesome death to retrieve this treasure Nero was so effortlessly taking off of his dead body, he figured he owed the man a skim of his last words, at the very least. Uncrumpling the note, Nero rolled his eyes before he read it to himself."To the unfortunate fortune seeker who discovers my remains: this place holds a curse worse than me or my crew could possibly endure, we didn't believe ourselves, but it has been made ever so clear. Those odd murals that have been plastered throughout the tomb? Despite us thinking they were simple decor, all of them have in fact been warnings. After removing the precious stone from it's alter, my men and I have unleashed all hell, literally. As I write this, I'm bleeding out in this dark tomb, the beings that have deposed of my men so easily now hunt for me. My advice to the poor bastard who is reading this; either run like hell or return the stone to it's rightful place. A dead grave-robber; -Conner."
"Yeah, sure thing Conner, I'll return the stone for you." Flinging the stone up the air a bit, Nero quickly snatched it with his other hand, slipping it into his satchel along with the other treasures he had looted from the tomb."Unlike you, Conner, I'm not stupid enough to get cornered in a dark tunnel. So, you know, finders keepers." Standing up and turning his back on the decaying adventurer, Nero kept moving forward, stopping at a split in the path ahead of him. "Son of a bitch. If I were a way out, where would I be?" Resting his free hand on his hip, Nero tapped his foot impatiently. Really, this was becoming tiresome, he had spent his entire day in this damn tomb and he really didn't like the idea of spending even more time down here having to check multiple paths. Wiping some sweat from his forehead, Nero leaned against the wall nearest to him, pulling out his notebook and sliding the note from earlier inside it. Sighing a bit, Nero pushed off of the wall, ready to begin the guessing-game that was navigating this passage, but would feel a rough grasp on his shoulder, pulling the boy back a bit.
Grasping the hand that had planted itself on his shoulder, Nero's expression would appear horrified, as the hand felt just as the corpse's hand from earlier did. Though a bit spooked, Nero quickly shook out of it, preforming a strong back kick while still having hold of his attackers hand. Much to his surprise, the arm of the attacker would stay in Nero's grasp while the rest of their body went slamming into the wall behind him. Nero turned towards where he kicked the now one-armed assaulter, pulling his pistol on them. Raising an eyebrow at the corpse he had just kicked against the wall, Nero recognized the man as Conner instantly, the only thing different about him were his eyes, which now glowed a blue color. Wasting no time, Nero quickly fired a shot between the walking corpse's eyes, successfully putting the bastard down. Glancing at the decaying arm Nero still held in his left hand, the teen grunted, tossing it off to the side. "That's just nasty. His damn skin felt like a nervous old lady who had been rolling around in raw sewage who was also nervous. Ugh." Shaking his head over what had just happened, Nero's victory would be short lived, interrupted by the sound of multiple shuffling footsteps coming his way.
Taking the left path in front of him, the path that sounded zombie free, Nero complained out loud to himself. "Right, shooting the guy in a path riddled with these bastards, not one of my finer ideas" Continuing to sprint down the path, Nero attempted to look back behind him, not noticing the small root sticking out in the path. Getting his foot caught in it, Nero would fall face first on the mossy ground of the tomb, his pistol flying out of his hands and landing in a small pile of mud. Cursing to himself as he scrambled to his feet, Nero wiped the blood off of his face with once had while grabbing his dropped pistol with the other, continuing onward only to come to a dead end at the end of the path. Mouthing yet another naughty word, Nero spun around on his heels, taking aim with his pistol down the tunnel. The group of corpses that were now chasing him didn't look like the first one that attacked him, these ones appeared much more tribal looking. Hell a few of them even still had their weapons intact. Impressive for a zombie to keep their weapon of choice in their possession, to say the least. Aiming his pistol at the mob of them that were cornering him, the teen's ears would fill with a pathetic sounding click, followed by a gurgle from his gun. Closing his eyes, Nero slowly slid his pistol in his holster, then cracked his knuckles.
"You're an asshole, Conner." ----------------------------------------------------
Though things were not going so well for Nero, Koji seemed to be doing alright with JessY. Really the only thing that bothered the dog was the girl's constant need to praise him with every turn he made on the path. Seems she didn't understand that Nero didn't give the dog any unnecessary praise, this chick was basically praising the dog for simply walking down the right path. He was really beginning to miss his partner with every second he had to spend with this chick. Though, the dog'd be lying if he didn't admit he appreciated her admitting that he seemed pretty smart for what he was, so Koji would allow her to think that he appreciated the praise. It's not like he could tell her otherwise, she wouldn't understand him if he tried. Every thing would be going off without a hitch, but then Koji heard it, footsteps approaching the girl. Barking to make sure the idiot wouldn't get caught off guard, Koji would maintain a low and steady growl towards the thug the entire time the two were talking. The way this girl handled this punk, it was.. different. Nero would have just demanded the girl's possession back, killing the thug without a hitch if he declined. With JessY, she just let this jackass walk away after she got what she wanted. That just annoyed the dog.
Still, Koji wouldn't be able to predict what was going to happen next. With the girl getting her pendant back, Koji was expecting a simple trip to the end of the path, possibly meeting up with his partner if the teen had managed to make it out of the path he was sealed in. Instead, the thug referenced 'them' once more, running away from the scene as a nicely-sized group of what appeared to be undead tribesmen. Koji would be ready to take these creatures on right then and there, but would instead get told to get behind JessY, the girl seeming much more confident than she did in earlier battles. As Nero had predicted before, JessY did have some sort of magical abilities, even worse, Koji sensed the same essence he did when JeY had used his magic around the dog. Growling at the girl as she fought, Koji turned his head away from the battle and down further down the path. Hearing that JessY was doing just fine, Koji didn't worry himself with the girl, instead he'd shift his focus on sounds coming from further down the path, sounds the girl probably wouldn't be able to hear for herself. Once the commotion behind him had died down, the girl would break Koji's personal bubble, kneeling down and looking the dog straight in the eyes.
God, this girl really just kept making it worse and worse. Why did she feel the need to get on his level of height when talking to him? Gah, he'd be about ready to bite this girl with how close she was to him, but the dog's ear would twitch before he'd get the chance. Growling at JessY as she talked, the dog would bolt further down the path, continuing to sprint through the windy path until he reached the end of the tunnel, which lead to a large square room, one that appeared to by a dead end. Despite looking like Koji had lead her nowhere, if she was indeed able to keep up with him, Koji's eyes would lock on what appeared to be a busted down wall. Looking closer, the dog would begin sniffing the ground with frantic looking movements, walking through the opening in the wall, the dog would hobble over multiple dead bodies of tribesmen, ones that looked almost identical to the creatures that JessY had fought earlier, though they did seemed to be killed rather brutally. After making his way through the path a little while longer, Koji sniffed the air once more, leading the dog down a path parallel to the path he had been on. Reaching the end of the path, the dog would stop dead in his tracks.
Just in front of Koji, Nero would be on his hands and knees, covered in dried blood and breathing heavy. Peaking up at the dog, the teen smirked before forming an out of breath sentence. "Well, I see you two took the more pleasant route.." Pushing himself up to his feet, he'd pat the dog on his head while calling out to the girl, wherever she may have been. "He wasn't too much trouble, was he? He can be a bit of an ass when he doesn't like the person he's with. You know, no offense to you personally, you just remind him of a certain asshole we know." Taking this time to clean his pistol, so it wouldn't jam on him again. After all, was there any better time to clean a pistol than after fight your way through zombies with only your bare hands? Nero didn't think so. With Koji giving the boy a look as if he was trying to tell him something, the teen would hold his hand up to the dog, signalling Koji to just save it for now.
"as much as I'd love to chat and catch up with you two, we really should be getting out of here. When those bastards broke through that wall and cornered me here, I could definitely hear more moving around through the wall. We're really in no place to sit around talking about how much we like a certain cereal." Shaking all of the mud out of his open pistol, the teen quickly put the gun back together, slamming a fresh clip into to it before continuing. "What was it your annoying ass says? Leggo or some other waffle brand's slogan? Yeah, go do that."

Alright, well Koji just went ahead and picked going further down the current path. Fair enough. For some reason she just liked the other idea better but she trusted this beautifully trained dog more than her crappy plan of back-tracking. Technically her intuition agreed with Koji's choice, but it seemed less fun this way, also easier to get lost. They booked it pretty hard, and there was a certain pep back in JessY's step now that she was re-armed. It also felt good to kick a little ass. And sure enough, in almost no time, there was a familiar face!
"I uh... no he was amazing. I'm just a little off guard that-- you know what, nevermind." But, hold the phone. She reminded them of somebody? Who in this vast set of coupled universes could possibly remind them of her? The only person she personally knew who even vaguely resembled her was-- oh god. JessY felt a pit in her stomach as everything in that region sank to the very bottom, her eyes widened and she seemed to grow with despair. Had they... really met... him!? Was that possible? No, surely it was. He was flipping everywhere, and now she was suffering the effects of this horrible coincidence. Well, if she was right. She desperately hoped she wasn't right. She had a feeling she was though.
unfortunately she spent too much time dawdling on the fact that she might know who their talking about, and Bleu already wanted to make haste to get out of this place. Fair enough, but she should let him know that they're good to just leave completely at this point. She was floored again though when he mentioned a brand of waffles? SERIOUSLY!? there's just no way he was from her home... this was just getting weirder and weirder. "...Something like that. I got my pendent back--" she said, bringing he hand to her neck and lifting it up briefly before setting it right back down. "So we're good to go. Because neither of us want to deal with the undead, you'll get paid just as soon as we're out!" And with that, they were off! but you know JessY, she's going walk-'n-talk when something profound is on her mind.
"So, this is going to bug me if I don't bring this up now, but when you say I remind you of someone, I'm almost certain I know who you're talking about, and I'm... If I'm right, I feel really bad for you, but for the love of Christ, please don't have any influence in hating me because of that raging douche cock, hate me because of me. I can accept that." At least she wasn't begging him to forgive her. She knew better than that. If she was going to be disliked at all, it better not be by any means because of JeY, otherwise there was hell to be. She can tolerate being hated, but it better damn well because he doesn't like thing about her. This reminder haunted her like the plague. Except, he would probably look at her like she had three heads.
Oh yeah, it would probably help to mention who exactly was on everyone's mind before making assumptions. "It has to be some dick in black named JeY, right? With the weird eyes or a blindfold? Whatever the heck he does these days..." Hopefully, he would look at her like she was off her rocker, assume she had no idea what she was talking about and that he meant someone completely different, and he could go on disliking her even more for valid reasons. That would be great! But that probably wasn't going to happen. And it definitely wasn't going to happen until they dealt with the undead blocking their way ahead in the current chamber. "You won't have to lift a finger, these guys are on me!" she would say before running just a little faster to get ahead.
Running head-on (apply directly to the forehead!) into the crowd of walking corpses with bright glowing eyes, she would bring he hands back like she was holding onto something before she spawned a whopping two-handed sword, a blade just as tall as her with the width almost as wide as her tummy! It was made from pure light energy just as her odachi blade before had been, and with the running head start, she leapt into the air while spinning around. She managed to rotate fully twice, cleaving the first three animated corpses in half before landing, dissipating the sword and continuing by dancing about, making it look like she was slashing her arms, but slices of ability energy followed suit in proximity, tearing a couple more up one rotting corpse at a time. She finished off a sixth corpse with a back flip kick that was accentuated by a slash of Ability Energy as well. And, well, that was that lot.
"Hopefully we'll be getting out of here soon..." JessY said out loud, wasting no time to continue moving. she didn't want to be in the dark, smelly tomb anymore. She wanted to be curled up in a nice comfy bed with a hot chocolate and snuggling with her assassin hottie friend. Not Nero obviously, he barely qualified as the type, but no she was far more interested in another girl with beautiful black eyes and a could wield a sword like nobody's business! But for now... getting out of here! Alive shouldn't really be an issue, until... Click! Because the floor suddenly became uneven, she stopped in her tracks. Behind them, the entire floor was collapsing behind them! "Oh shit!" Welp, they were in for it now unless they hurried. Well, unless he hurried. "You'd better book it if you don't want to ride the JessY-express!" After all, she had a way to keep herself safely suspended in the air in the event of something like this.
