Suggestions for improving activity on the forum

So, there's been several new members; some bots, some actual people looking for a fun RP forum to join. But one major thing that is conflicing this fact is that while there are more members...there's a lack of RPing activity. So I have some simple guidelines that could help newcomers and RP veterans alike in maintaining activity, so that things don't get forgotten or overlooked:
1) Plotting ahead helps gain and keep interest: While it's simple enough to make an "OPEN" thread for people to join, there is only so much that a basic encounter can do. In the art of roleplaying, having a story to follow through is key to keeping an RP on track and entertaining, aside from random shenanigans. So the best way to keep an active thread is to think of a good storyline that fits your character, and then post it in the plotting board to try and gain interest. Or, if you want to be very proactive, look for currently active members, check out their characters, and then invite them personally to join you in an RP via shoutbox or PM.
2) Communicate outside of the forum: There's no denying that newcomers could forget about a forum after JUST joining, it happens all the time. But if you find someone thats serious about staying active on the site, or if you find someone who's active now, but might not later because of lack of activity, find other ways to communicate outside of the forum. Skype, Discord, steam, text. It doesn't matter how, as long as it's a system that is checked often by both parties. This will make sure that there are regular updates, and things don't get stale because they're left alone for long periods.
3) Discuss ideas for future threads: This is mainly to encourage people to keep the ball rolling. It's not impossible for an RP thread to go until completion, I've done several like this. If two players are really into their current thread, think of what the group can do next. This will continue to build on RPing relationships between members, and keep the forum active and friendly for everybody.
Hopefully these suggestions will help people get this place moving around again. Sadly, I won't be joining in on the fun too often, but I'll try and join in if I can. Happy RPing, one and all.
