"That goddamn flake won't find another job as long as I live..."
A steaming-mad scarlet witch paced back and forth in the the shade of a giant castle - having a particularly bad stroke of luck lately with accomplices. It was difficult not running a syndicate of henchman but also not being a total freelancer either; relying on others was something she loathed but due to unnatural ability to manipulate people it worked out more often than not.
It just required one crucial element: attendance.
Seems whatever cutthroat villainous scum she recruited for her most recent goal must have realized they might've been getting a short end of a stick in some fashion and decided to call it off, but without telling her. Not polite to stiff a lady like that, especially this crazed lady. Luckily she did her homework and acquired her contact from a network she was acquainted with, deciding to acquire this absent associate knowing if they didn't got through with it she would absolutely demolish their reputation with that network. 'Tis life when you mess with Stockholm!
'Going home now will be the most miserable possible thing right now. So that's not happening. I'll think of something else without that useless meatbag.' She began to make her way to the front of the castle, disgruntled and slowly calming down to think of a solution to her most immediate problem, and if that didn't work, how to accomplish the task she set out for anyway.

The sound of a hammer beating down a nail could be heard throughout the forest. It was none other than Ren O'Malley nailing a sign to a tree. In fact all over the forest there were signs on just about every third tree. With the last nail of this sign done he dusted off his hands. "There," He said. " Now all that's left is the castle."
Ren grabbed the pile of signs and began to make his way to the castle while whistling. It was a rare day for Ren where he could actually get away from Sasuke and Nore. He liked being around them and loved how loyal they were to him, but even he needed some space. Just because he got away from it all didn't mean he would waste the day away. A day where he could recruit for his cause was a good day indeed.
After a while he finally made his way to the castle just in time to find the cursed woman. "Hey there~ Hey there~ What are you doing over there~?" He would make his way over to her just long enough to hand her a sign before he went to the castle wall closet to them. The sign read: Ren's villain recruitment: have you or a loved one recently found a love for darkness? Has it been recently revealed to you that your father was a demon lord all along? Still not over your high school crush dumping you for the leader of the cheer squad? Were you about to finally finish your world ending death ray when some stupid hero swooped in out of no where and foiled your plans? Then look no further than where you are currently standing to read this. All of your dark dreams can come true in my new universe, where us villains will be free to scheme and rub of hands evilly without worrying about some goody two shoes crashing through the window just before the countdown hits zero. For more details report to the nearest recruiting station near you. At the bottom of the sign was a picture of Ren pointing at the reader with a speech bubble that said "I want you"
Within a few minutes the castle wall was covered in posters and Ren had somehow set up a wooden booth that had a sign that said Recruiting Station. Ren had a box of donuts at the booth and had just finished eating a pink sprinkled one. "Yoohoo over here~" He called to her.

And just when her day couldn't possibly get worse, she gets called out. Probably one of her least favorite things, especially when it's not an enamored lackey. This guy looked like the quintessential definition of 'trouble', in fact he had all of the physical features that in Stockholm's experience her Charm Aura had zero effect on. Upon the initial shouting, her gut reaction was to obscure her hand behind her back and draw her pistol.
Her inability to charm this type was only the typical fare. Anything is possible, and unless she made an attempt there was no way of knowing. The man approached, handed her a flier, and went.. off. "Yeah, and just what do you w-- Excuse me? Ugh..." She started with the 'tough-girl' approach which is more effective than not on these types but he seemed to completely ignore her except for his own mission.
Well, manipulating him unnaturally was off the table, but maybe he was dumb enough to fall for more conventional tricks. She was just given a treasure trove of material to work with, so she read the pamphlet and-- Oh no. This guy wasn't serious was he? Stockholm had to resist the urge to burst out laughing. What nonsense. Let's see what this guy was made of.
By the time she was paying attention again she was being called to again. Her spine tinged. She couldn't wait to slap the shit out of him, if given an opportunity. Time to play a little game. She cast her rod. "Blatantly recruiting villains? Have you... been in this business before?" She sounded sweet, motherly. Maybe from her voice and expression, you would even get the feeling that she cared a little.

Ren could tell by this woman's life energy that she wasn't human. In fact she seemed to be a demon, but she was a type of demon Ren had never encountered before. "Oh so she's trying to pull a fast one on little ol' Ren eh?" He said to himself. He might as well have some fun while he got some work done.
"Why yes I have ma'am," He said as he pulled a book from under the booth opening it. "In fact I've been at it so long I'm starting to loose track of how many worlds have fallen to darkness because of me or my followers." He flipped some of the pages showing different worlds, before he thought of another fun idea. "But who has time to read boring old books?" His eyes glowed a light red as a transparent planet the size of a basketball of the same color formed in front of him. "It all started when I destroyed my home world Yuio." Yuio moved to the side as other transparent planets appeared and then followed it. "There was Cerio, Xeijuo, Learia, Scentuio, and oh so many more." the planets then spun around each other before they faded away.
"Of course with going through so many worlds I have come across many kinds of people. Heartless who have proven to be quite useful to me and my goals. Gods and kings who are so easily manipulate by darkness, and even other demons." He winked at her.

Oh jeez, one of these. If Stockholm wasn't already expertly experienced int he art of the poker face she probably would've burst out laughing at this guy's response, maybe even stopped him early. She humored him though, let him ramble on about everything he's "done" not that she believed him for a moment. Even in her long-standing reign of villainy she's never conquered entire worlds. Not worth the effort, frankly.
She especially didn't like the 'other demons' remark at the end. Her heart frowned but her face remained in a position that screamed 'you have to be kidding me'. The only thing she could assume was this guy was a demon himself who also wore a pleasant disguise, but probably not one as so permanent as her own. She'd have to play this game more carefully that she prefers if this was going anywhere in her favor.
"Right. You destroy worlds. With your 'empire'. The fancy simulation was cool but can you, uh, see where I might be... What's the word... a little skeptical about this? Nothing about the mix of your flier here and your presentation raise any red flags?"
Sure, poke the bee hive and prepare to get stung, but your odds or leaving without a scratch are bigger when you're holding a can a bee-killer.

"Oh I see what's really going on," Ren said as he stood up. "You think ol' Ren's trying to pull a fast one on ya do ya?" He then smiled. "I guess I can't really blame you, I have done a lot that most other people couldn't even dream of doing." He got up from the booth and started pacing, trying to think of the best way to explain things to her. He then suddenly stopped and looked back at her. "I suppose I can let the little ruse cruise end early and explained some things first. I can give you that much seeing how I know you're little secret~" he stuck his tongue out a little.
He never actually got the chance to explain him own being to someone before, seeing how he only learned his true origin sometime ago. He didn't have time back then to completely process what it meant for him, although he did take full advantage of what he gained from his mother to ascend higher. "Well for starters we can both stop pretending to be normal people. I can tell from your life energy that you are a demon, though I've never encountered your species of demon before. You have my interest for that alone." He put a hand on his hip before pouting. " You probably figured this out already, but I'm not like most people." He lightly tapped his head. "Not everything is alright up there here at Ren incorporated, though personally I think that makes me more fun to be around. What I do normally does raise red flags for normal people, but I found the ones who appreciate what I do and how I do it to be the most fun to be around. Though there are a few things that raises red flags for nearly everyone," With a flash of light he transformed his body to his possessed form. "Me being able to do this for instance." He waved his hair around before looking back at her. "Don't worry I'm still the same guy, but just between us girls I like this body a lot."

The cursed demon stood entirely unimpressed with her arms crossed, one leg stretched to the side and leaning toward the other. "Great, so you're not only totally insane but also a pervert. Wonderful." Apparently he had the ability to figure out she was hiding some dark secrets, or something like that. It wasn't that eye-opening and awe-inspiring to her personally, she was much a believer of actions speaking louder than words, and morphing his form to take the body of a girl was... not something she was into.
Maybe she should quit while she was ahead. There might be no nope, but in figurative terms she hasn't even begun to work her magic so it would seem like such a waste. Plus, the lack of immediate alternatives didn't really give her much else to do in the present.
"I don't know what kinda of crazy magic you got packed in there buddy but just because I've got the claws of a demon doesn't mean there's much more to back up that theory. What you see is what you get in this aisle, but uh..." She gestured toward Ren's new body. "Clearly you've got more of an assortment. Cards on the table? I can't do that. I might be a killer, but a demon? Sorry; just a girl with a demon's passion."
Knight to H6, let's see if he takes the bait. "So I'm not exactly in the market to join a cult of deranged, magical lunatics, but I do have my eyes on a very specific prize. You know, if you've got some time."

Ren crossed his arms. "Pervert?" He looked at her. "Please, unlike my brother I don't find the appeal in perversion. I merely took this body so I could achieve higher power. I have no interest in that sort of thing and I doubt I ever will." It was true, throughout his life Ren never took in interest in people that way. When it came to that he was the odd one in the family, being that only male in a few generations to not breed with multiple women. He just didn't see the point when he had so man goals to achieve. Maybe one day he would finally give in to Nore's advances towards him but for now he didn't need any distractions.
"Oh is that so?" He asked her putting a finger to his lips. He smiled at her. "Well then that's also something I haven't come across on my adventures yet." He flipped his hair. "It's not really magic that lets me know your secret, but rather my ability to sense life energy and the like. It comes in handy when I need to know what exactly I'm dealing with. Although if you don't want to tell me what you really are that's fine, because I also have a few things up my sleeve to hide, so you can just call us even darling."
"A prize? What kind of prize?" Ren's eyes lit up half evilly and half with joy.. "It's not from one of those claw machines is it? Because if so then you're on your own, I was never good at them as a kid. But if it's something we have to take from some hero or something then you can count me in. I haven't had a decent fight since my ascension, and I could use a little fun. Besides I've grown quite found of murder over the years, so you wouldn't have to worry about whoever we have to take it from." He licked his lips.

Get a load of this guy. Well, it was great to know she was talking to an insane yet incredibly dense brick wall who not only claims to have destroyed entire planets but somehow presents the mental capabilities of a four year old. She couldn't believe a guy like this existed. She was dreaming right? From her utterly horrified face she gave herself a couple of paps with both hands at once, shook her head and looked back up. Reality was still... the same.
"I'm..." She was at a loss for words. She was scared, even. She was certain this guy had some serious power tucked away in this either ingenious facade or immature mentality and offering a deal was a huge mistake. The confused girl lowered her head again into the palm of her hand. "Listen, when you talk like that, I have a hard time believing you're capable of murder. As an actual adult, I definitely have more important things to do than entertain a child, so unless you feel like proving to me you're serious, I'm just gonna leave. No hard feelings."
Stockholm began to turn around. Unless the man-in-a-woman's-body made any effort to stop her, she would be long gone behind the shrubs at the end of the castle. If he followed her instead, he might see the hole dug breaching a small underground room.

Ren disappeared then reappeared on the branch of one of the trees in front of Stockholm. Somehow in between that he had reverted back to his normal form. He hung from the branch upside down with his legs wrapped around it. "You know personally I never found the appeal of wanting to be an adult," he told her. "Though since I come from a medieval world the only real difference is more power."
He got off the branch and spun around as he landed. "Put me back in the game coach," He told her. "I can still play I promise." He put a hand on his hip as he noticed the hole in the ground. So that was what was going on, a little underground scheme. Ren looked back at the woman and wagged his finger at her. "Tsk tsk tsk. Trying to dig your way out huh?"
Ren walked over to the hole and knelled looked into it, seeing part of an underground room. He looked back at her. "Trying to find the secrets of the castle eh?" He got back up and crossed his arms. "Should have figured you were the type to not want to share what's she's found with the rest of the class, but you must not have counted on Inspector Ren being on the case!" He placed his hand outward as a pickaxe of red energy formed in his hand. "I guess I can spare some time and help you dig your way out of this one." He winked at her. He then started digging out the hole more making it bigger so they could find out what was in the room.

There was only an expression of utter horror gazing upon the events unfolding here, in real life, right before Stockholm's eyes. The ticked off woman is hardly mad anymore and just plain mortified at the realization she's come to. 'He really won't stop. I'm really going to have to entertain a child for the rest of today' she thought to herself. First the flake, and now this? She almost wanted her tip to be fake now.
It was way too lucrative to give up like this. A certain patron has had a particular piece of junk on his 'I'll pay anything for this' list for ages and finally news of its existence has reached the girl's ears, since not many people knew the patron there wasn't a lot of competition. All her motivation had to be was feasibility of acquisition and a buyer already lined up. Not necessarily the biggest on theft of burglary but whatever provided the coin to keep her lonesome empire afloat was probably worth the effort.
Probably.
Fully grown or not, this lunatic was a few antics short of making her go absolutely ballistic. She was completely speechless; stunned, at what Ren was saying, and subsequently doing. She might not snap out of that one for a hot minute as she contemplated all the possible outcomes here and escape plans. She wasn't interested in fighting him either, but she would show her claws if need be.

Ren dug out the hole until it was big enough for both of them to get through. After he was finished he made the pickaxe disappear before he dusted off his hands. "There, that should do it." He said with a proud smile. He looked over at the woman. "I had to make it slightly bigger for us than I first thought considering your... ample features."
Ren walked over to her and gave her an innocent smile. "So what exactly are we looking for here if you don't mind me asking?" He put a hand on his hip. "Is this going to be some kind of treasure hunt adventure? Or more of a we need to find an take out someone in a high position of power sort of deal? I'm used to both situations so you don't need to worry about little ol' Ren here. I can pull my own weight pretty well, I doubt anything here will push me that far but if push comes to shove I have a few tricks up my sleeve very few can predict." His eyes started glowing a bit. "But I can tell from your aura and energy that you don't need some knight in shining armor to rescue you, you aren't stuck in eternal sleep until true love's first kiss or some other nonsense breaks the curse."
He turned back around and took a few steps forward before he stopped to look back at her. "Shall we?" He gave her another smile.

Yeah that was pretty much the final straw. the girl snapped on the inside, but not in a way that makes one go ballistic. Nope. She was Stockholm already, and instead of alluring the prey she became the allured. That was it: whatever was going on, she was in. This was just life now. She was fully on board. This train had no breaks. I don't know how many more ways I can write this before it gets annoying so I'll just leave it there.
The fiery girl took a deep breath, and leapt beneath the castle exterior into a poorly-lit warehouse-like room. She held up an index finger and produced a magenta-tinted flame to illuminate the surrounding area. "Alright, fanboy," she coped with the situation by pretending to spin it in a way that she was still calling the shots around here. She... kind of was? but not really anymore.
"We're looking for a medallion that looks like some indiscernible quadroped. Apparently it's been kept here for ages but the tip's reliability is shaky at best. The guy who wants it has a lot of sentimental attachment to it. I think."
Something else occurred to her though. "You know, with all of that racket you made, I'm surprised no one's tried to stop us yet." With that thought, there was a long pause. Nothing. That would've been the perfect cue for something to try to ruin their day, but apparently there are more important things going on in the castle. "But, here we are, unimpeded. Let's go lug-head."
Upon initial inspection however it seemed like it would be impossible to find anything in here. There were crates, but so many loose objects and open bins and weird shelves. Nothing down here seemed organized. What the hell even was this? It was described as a sorting room for a magical library, but there didn't seemed to be many books. Stockholm began rummaging through piles of stuff, looking for the prized possession she came to seek. She seemed distracted though, she wasn't trying her hardest to look, but to think about how nothing here was adding up. This was a sorting room? For a library?

Ren was right behind Stockholm on the way down into the room, and was somehow wearing a detective's outfit complete with the hat and a pipe. He blew the pipe as he listened to what it is exactly they were looking for. Instead of regular smoke his pipe blew out bubbles. He put the pipe away and started writing things down on a notepad. After a while he stopped writing and looked up at her. "Uh huh, and where were you on the night of the crime?" he asked pointing his pencil at her. "The suspect always returns to the scene of the crime!" He started walking around her in a circle and looked back a her. "I'm watching you, but don't worry ma'am Inspector Ren is on the case!"
Ren reached into one of his pockets and pulled out an oversize magnifying glass. He looked through it as he went around the room inspecting things for anything out of the ordinary and the medallion. He went through one of the bins and started tossing things here and there, though he did put a magazine named "Evil Monthly" to the side for later. A few other things later he was ready to move on to the next bin.
"You know I'm starting to get hungry..." Ren disappeared. A few minutes later he reappeared with fast food. He went up to Stockholm and held one of the bags out for her with a smile. "I hope you like burgers because the wait for everything else was fifteen minutes."

At this point, hardly anything could phase her. She was already broken. She wanted to say something in response to being accused for... something? However there were no words. She kept looking.
Stockholm rubbed her forehead briefly and sat down. She managed to dig through a lot of the garbage in the time her new friend was gone, so that made it seem like he was actually gone a lot longer than the reality of the situation. "Whatever, that's fine" she growled before snatching the bag and showing whatever she was given into her face. A little fast food never hurt her figure.
After a large chew and her first swallow, she would bring up her concerns. "I think something is up here. There's no way that--" she was cut off by a loud slam. The nearby door opened rapidly, and two guards hauling a box were behind it. They got a couple steps in before immediately seeing the dynamic duo on a lunch break.
"Hey! You two! You can't be here!" The one on the left shouted. "Get out before--" he was also interrupted, by Stockholm standing up and brandishing two pistols.
"Before what, asshat? I think I can smell a criminal organization when I really get my nose into it. Who's paying you?"
The guards looked at each other. They didn't give away anything in their expressions though, apparently they were a little more seasoned with surprises like these than a pair of newbies. "Criminals? You're the ones who broke in here!"
Stockholm wasn't one hundred percent sure what was going on, but there was definitely more than meets the eye here. As a professional criminal, it really takes one to know one.

Ren was just starting to enjoy his food when the guards showed up. "Guess they cut lunch early today," he said with a sigh. It looked like his work was never done. He quickly finished his food as he came up with a plan. He looked right at the guards. "Can't be in here ya say? Then why was it so easy to get in here?" Ren pulled out a a small notepad and pencil. "Tsk tsk tsk. This won't look good on your permanent record I'm afraid."
Ren wrote some things down in the notepad before looking back at them. "And I assume that's the box Maleficent wanted moved into this room? That was supposed to be here three hours ago." Ren shook his head. "So not only are you two irresponsible you're also a bunch of slackers." Ren wrote in his little notepad some more. He was a master at coming up with things on the fly and making people confused, it ran in the family. It always came handy in situations likes this.
"Just wait until Maleficent here's about this." Ren looked at Stockholm. He hoped she knew how to play along like Nore did. "What do you suppose she'll do to them?" He asked. "The last ones who upset her ended up being burned to a crisp." He Looked back at the guards and wagged his finger at them. Hoping Stockholm was good at playing along was the key to this act working. People being team players always made everything easier. One little slip and the whole show fell apart.

"M.. Maleficent?" The guard on the left looked confused for a second, but his confusion turned into a slight sneer when he turned to his buddy who copied his expression. The two of them burst into laughter. Hard, authentic belly laughter. "Pfft, shows what you goons know!" They got their weapons at the ready. "We're doing work for Hades, not anyone named Maleficent!"
Stockholm looked over to her basket case of an associate, smelled what he was stepping in (it was really obvious and stinky), considered it to be an awful and ludicrous plan especially given what information was shared - but there was a way to salvage this. She had no clue who either of these 'bosses' were or the probability of them having crooked officials as underlings but if there was one specialty Stockholm had, it would be prime manipulation.
And she wasn't about to solve a math problem, she was about to blow their fuckin' minds.
Starting with an eye roll before talking, "Yeah and who do you think Hades does business for? Jeez, get it together. Any basic loon should know that."
What a travesty, really. It would've been easier in the short term to put these unlucky souls directly out of their misery, on the other hand, messier. Maybe Ren was onto something. Keep it clean, get in and get out, it's not like she'll ever see this assclown or the two stooges every again.
The guard's jaw dropped slightly. Their weapons looked as though they weren't as tightly gripped. That... worked? Were they sweating? How in the world could these two random names be connected, anyway? You know, just like many of her questions centered around Ren, none of them actually mattered. If she weren't wearing her game face, the incredibly notion to bury her face into her palm might physically manifest itself.
