{Cue Traverse Town Theme} It was yet another dark evening in the districts of Traverse Town, when Katherine is walking away from a group of unconscious men in alley of the backstreets. She had been training, however, it had all gotten out of hand. She wouldn’t have had to fight for real, if they hadn’t tried to fix her. They tried to fix her by destroying the darkness within her, but she resisted. She resisted... not for survival, no, but for the sheer fact that it felt good. She didn’t want to admit it, but she had become addicted to the darkness she had a part of her for so long. These warriors tried to fight the darkness out of her by beating her senseless. The guys were more like thugs. She had believed they were going to help her, but they feared her. She wasn’t evil, she just had darkness inside her. It was just like Jolie! She had the exact reaction to Kath’s darkness. The darkness came from Jo! The thought just made Katherine so mad that she screamed at the top of her lungs, “I’m in control of my darkness!” As her voice raised a raging purple aura surrounded her figure. “These dwellers of light live upon their high horses, thinking that they are better than anyone! No! These punks need to be put in their place!” The aura flared even larger around her body and her hair started to frizz. Her voice turned to a lower, more guttural tone, “TO HELL WITH LIGHT!!” A flurry of darkly shaded fireballs exited her hand and charred against the left wall of the alleyway.

A flash of chaos appeared in the middle of Traverse Town. As it faded Ren was revealed to be in his true form. His hair was still the crimson red that matched his father, but now his left eye was a bright purple like his mother's eyes, and his right eye was a crimson red. Both of his his pupils were vertical and his ears were long and pointy. Instead of nails he had talons and instead of teeth he had fangs. His skin was caramel and he had a long red tail. He still wore his normal clothing, but now his shirt had a black Mark of Mastery Emblem on the front of it. Ren had no idea why he came to this world out of all of them, he only knew that he to get away from his wives for a while. Things never went well whenever they got into a fight and he knew better than to try to get in the middle of it or try to stop them. Once he realized what world he was in he smiled a bit, it had been a few years since he had been to Traverse Town.
He was about to have a look around when he sensed a surge in power and darkness. It reminded him a bit of his new apprentice in terms of the potential behind it, and how uncontrolled it felt. Of course he had to see who that power came from. He slowly made his way through the district before he came upon the right alleyway. From her aura he already had an increased interest in this young woman, so he naturally had to find out more about her.
Ren simply stood there with his red tail swaying from side to side as he put a hand on his hip. "That's quite an interesting power you have there," he finally said. "Though you have a lot to learn if you ever want to truly master it." Ren held his hand up as dark red energy swirled around it for a bit as his eyes glowed the same color. "Darkness used to be my main element until I discovered a new power." He dismissed the energy and his eyes stopped glowing. He smiled at the woman. "Your power interests me as I'm sure mine do the same for you. But first I must know who you are, and what do you plan to do with your darkness?" He asked a similar question to his current apprentice when he first met her not too long ago, what people with great potential planed to do with their powers always interested him. Whoever this woman was, Ren knew he had to learn as much as about her as he could.

{Cue “Villians of a Sort} Katherine was in such a fit of rage, she hadn’t realized that anyone had entered the alleyway. In fact, she was disconnected with the entire environment. Her emotions were in an elevated state, she was consumed by them. She just couldn’t help but remember her best friend, and how they were just inseparable. She just couldn’t understand how Jo could just raise her Keyblade at her, or how she could just decide that Kath wasn’t worth existing. It filled her with anger, she just couldn’t understand how her best friend would turn her back. It was even more upsetting, knowing that everyone think Jo was the good guy who defeated Kath, the villain. It wasn’t like that at all, in fact, Kath’s goal was to be a hero, she just believed that darkness and light should be used side-by-side. She couldn’t help the darkness inside of her, in fact, not all the darkness she held inside wasn’t even hers. She just merely wanted to channel the darkness. After dealing with so many light dwellers, light was seeming like the true darkness. These so-called heroes just force their light upon others, like a pushy missionary knocking on doors. It just made her sick.
Speaking of feeling sick, she started to feel something powerful and unnerving behind her. She felt something completely different, it wasn’t darkness nor was it light. Then she heard a voice, and she turned around with her umbrella, Silhouette Storm materialized in her hand. She put on an emotional veil, she hated for anyone to see fear or anger on her face. She was a bit surprised, by his height, mostly. However, she still felt this overwhelming power, more than she had ever seen firsthand. He looked almost demonic, his eyes were a different color, the purple eye caught her attention the most. It was the prettiest eye color she had ever seen.
She listened intently at what this mysterious being was saying. He mentioned the darkness within her and said that she could master it. She couldn’t hold back the slight elation of someone not trying to destroy her on sight. She also noticed that he held the Mark of Mastery. The being knew how to use a Keyblade, perhaps, he knew a way to get it back. She also wanted to know this new power he had beyond light and darkness. However, she needed to save her questions for later, as her had a couple questions for her. She obliged, “ My name is Katherine LeNoir, but my friends and family call me Kath, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I would like to know your name as well. ” She gave a small curtsy, before she extended her hand. Then, she continued, “ As for the darkness, my goal is to take down these arrogant and self righteous denizens of light, they think their way is the only way. I want to show them exactly how wrong they are. ”

Ren simply smiled at the woman as they finally got a look at each other. He could tell she was a bit surprised and he couldn't blame her for that. Though he wasn't surprised she could summon an umbrella he did like the look of it, it reminded him of the umbrella/gun hybrid weapon Nore had made not too long ago. It was most likely that this one was also a weapon, though he didn't bother to ask since he was sure he would get to see soon enough.
Ren listened to Katherine's words, and smiled even more as he took her hand. "The pleasure is all mine Katherine," he told her. "I'm Ren O'Malley, and I find your cause to be a noble one. Getting revenge on those who look down on you for what powers you use has always been something I've been a fan of." His eyes started glowing again. "Though light and darkness have always been at odds with each other there exists two powers that combine the two, but that's a story for another day once we learn more about each other."
Ren released her hand and slowly put a finger to his lip. "I don't suppose you are going to be busy, Kath. I would love to discuss things further with you. The amount of potential you have interests me. You remind me of my apprentice, such great power lies in both of you but you aren't able to fully bring it out. Both in need of someone to teach you how to control and harness it, and to be pushed to greater heights." His eyes slowly stopped glowing. He had already decided from her answer that he wanted to train her just to see how far her powers could go, and how committed she was to her cause, but he never truly learned how to ask to train someone. His apprentice asked him to train her, and he hadn't taken interest in anyone else until now.
Something then clicked in his mind as he remembered he openly wore the Mark of Mastery Emblem on his shirt. He gave her another smile. "I'm sure you are interested to find out what I am and what I can do, and as you can tell there is a lot more to me than I let on. I can already assume the same about you, but we will both get nothing done in a world like this, the people and heartless that appear here could never push you to surpass your limits. I take it you know at least a few things about Keyblade Masters given how you looked at my mark, but the real question falls to you. Are you truly prepared to face what lies ahead of you to unlock higher power? And what will you do with that power once your quest for revenge is over?"

He was right about one thing: she wanted to know what kind of power this man possessed. He also seemed somewhat charming yet intimidating. He had to be a demon or warlock of some sort. He had an aura that made her feel both curious and uneasy.
”Yes, I am definitely curious about your power. I would like to learn about it and I would be delighted if you had the time and resource to assist me in channeling my darkness.”
Now, what would she do after getting revenge? She hadn’t thought of that that for a good while. However, it wasn’t completely forgotten. “I want the power to protect the weak and to punish those who bully the weak. I may be dark, but I think light and darkness should be in balance. You can’t just treat everyone nicely and mercifully, those who are truly wicked must be kept at bay, unfortunately, some of those wicked people are bathed in light. Those self-righteous tyrants. I would like to stick this umbrella up where the sun never touches.”
She noticed that he was admiring her white umbrella. She decided to show him Silhouette Storm in all its glory. As she expanded the weapon, several small blades protruded around the perimeters. The blades were razor-sharp. ”I’m presuming that you already know this isn’t intended for the weather”

Ren smiled a bit as Katherine admitted to being interested about his powers. His eyes started to glow a dark red as she gave him her final answers, and showed him a better look at her umbrella. "I figured as much," he told her as he admired the blades on the weapon. "My friend Nore has something similar, only her umbrella is a mace and blaster instead of having blades on it. I'm sure the two of you will get along well." His eyes glowed a bit more as he noticed the power the umbrella had. He was used to weapons with strong powers, you had to when you've been to as many worlds as he had, but this one was different. It felt similar to his new recent weapons, it felt so close to a keyblade. He knew keyblades could transform into other weapons, but this didn't seem to be a transformation, at least not yet. It could be a keyblade in the making, or was once a key itself. He had already decided that he would train her, this had just increased his interest in her even more.
Ren's eyes stopped glowing as he then crossed his arms. "As for training you I have one apprentice already, but I don't see anything wrong with having more. I'll be more than happy than to train you and teach you the power of both the light and the dark. Who knows you may even become a keyblade master too if you stick with it." His eyes glowed again. "I can already see many great things ahead for you, the path will not be easy but will be rewarding. You will be pushed far past your current limits while constantly reaching new ones. You will learn many things; the different worlds out there; the endless different types of magic and abilities out there, what other creatures are out there besides heartless, and so much more I can't even tell you."
He stopped for a moment before he summoned a keyblade. He slowly moved it to be right over Kath's shoulder before he spoke again. "Katherine LeNoir, I Ren O'Malley, King Lord and Master, accept you as my apprentice." He slowly moved it to hovering over her other shoulder before he dismissed it. "There is a lot to discuss, but I think we should save that for when we get back to my kingdom. It's not on this world, but one far from here. I take it you would like to see it?"

Kath took in everything the man was saying. She smiled as he addressed her umbrella and compared it to a friend of his. She thought about how interesting it would be to meet someone who has a similar resourcefulness as she does. Then, Ren proceeded to tell her about training her and teaching her how to handle light and darkness, and the countless abilities she could learn. Her eyes lit up, though she tried to hide it. She just nodded as he spoke to her. When he pulled his Keyblade out and placed it on her shoulders, she knelt on one knee and bowed her head. She smiled and said, ”Thank you, Master Ren. I shall not fail you.” She stood up and simply nodded as he asked if she would like see his world, ”Of course, Master” She followed up with a small curtsy. ”I would be honored”

Ren smiled at his new apprentice. "As long as you do your best you won't fail me, Kathy." He smiled again at his new nickname for her. He thought about how long he had been away from his kingdom today, and how Nore was most likely worried sick about him again. He then remembered something very important about Nore's personality, and that Katherine would find out about it as soon as they got there anyway. It was probably for the best that she was warned in advanced.
"I must warn you about my friend Nore. She has a very special attachment to me. And well.. how do I put this.." He thought for a minute. "She doesn't like it when any woman so much as breathes the same air I do, she's the very jealous type, though it's not as bad as it used to be. She won't hurt you, but she will accuse you of being a "man-stealer" until I explain that I've taken you under my wing. As for my other friends and my cousin, I think it's best if you get your first impression firsthand~"
Ren's keyblade started glowing before he turned around. He slashed at the air twice, creating two rips in time and space opening up a blue portal to New Yuio. He looked back at Katherine with a smile. "The next chapter in your journey awaits. Shall we?" Ren walked through the portal, leaving it open for her to walk through and follow him.

Katherine hated to be called Kathy, it made her feel like an old woman. At least it’s better than Kat she thought. She smiled and ignored him saying that. However, the rest made her feel more at ease. She knew for a fact that she was going to do her very best. “ I appreciate your confidence in me. You saw me weak, but you’ll never see me break again” She smiled with confidence. She had been through charm school, which was why she had a very calm and collected exterior.
“I suppose it would be better to leave this god-forsaken town full of lowlifes and bottom feeders. I know my daughter isn’t anywhere to be seen. I suppose I shall train, I must be the victor when the clash begins with that pitiful lampshade I used to call my friend” She listened as he was talking about his companions. “Nore is your lady who’s very jealous?” A grin widened ear to ear, “That should be enjoyable, sounds like my kind of woman” As Ren’s Keyblade opened a portal, she knew that her life was about to change. She mentally froze, trying to keep her composure. She was in a position where she actually has to trust someone, which was not an easy task. That included trusting herself. For Umbriella, she thought repeatedly, to give her the strength to continue. She repeated the mantra in her head many times, until she finally pushed the words through her lips. “For Umbriella” She said confidently. “I’m ready, Master Ren.” She followed him through the portal, with nothing but blind trust. She was at the mercy of someone else, but she knew that trust took an incredible amount of strength. She was ready whatever she would see on the other side.
