"Hey, hold it a bit!" Neku shouted, trying to make himself be heard, "You're---"
Neku's voice was lost in a moment of shock. Glass breaking, and an injured man being through through it. He could almost hear the people screaming in fear inside his head, despite the world he was in. He froze in place, unsure on how to act. The following information came as a shock, but a shock he was used to from long ago. How different was that to a Raid announcement? Gripping the hilt of his sword, Neku got ready.
Law's issue could wait.
Noticing Charlotte making her move, Mei jumped from the chair towards the ground, alert of the situation around her. That a scenery way to familiar, but... She couldn't do much, could she? Without a physical body... Mei was nothing more than a breeze. Clenching her fists, she looked down to the ground.
"I... I have to fight..." she told herself, "I can't keep on running away... What would've been the point, otherwise? For her to fight for my sake like that..."
Shaking the thoughts off her head, Mei followed Neku towards the docks, with the hope of being able to do something to aid them all. She had an idea...
Once at the docks, Neku unsheathed his sword, ready for battle. What could a few Shadows do to him? He wasn't a little, scaridy kid anymore. If it was for others' sake, Neku would fight. That was final.
"Tch... This never gets old, y'know...?" he said to himself. "Let me help" Mei said, firmly, as she caught up to him. "Huh? How? I'm not trying to tell you stand back, but..." "I've got an idea, but... I'm not sure how long it'll last..." Mei shook her head, and looked at him, "Promise... Not to freak out?" "I'm damn sure I can't be freaked out after bein' here longer than a couple days..." Neku admitted uneasily.
Mei nodded, and got ready for battle. A sudden grey mist was quick to surround her, akin to a blast of energy. Holding her rapier firmly, she took a ready stance to fight the Heartless alongside Neku.
This time, though, she was visible, as the Illusion of her body became physical. Albeit for that battle only, or maybe slightly more time after.
"Let's go!" the two teens shouted in unison.

What the f*@k is going on?! There was a surge of people heading toward the docks, most men ready with weapons, already beginning to fight whatever Heartless approached. Port Royal was filled with seasoned sailors, pirates and the emperors soldiers, after all. Law was just another figure in the crowd, surging forward while running through the busy cobblestone streets of the chaotic town. There were odd bat-like creatures with glowing eyes that had begun to swarm above, causing many to begin shooting with their flintlock weapons up towards the air. What are those…? Law’s piercing blue eyes squinted at the bat like creatures as he spun his gun blade in his hand.
Firing off many shots at the swarm as he ran onward, the pirate utilized the many in the crowd in order to shield himself from the enemies. Pushing some in front of himself at times while dodging and shouldering his way through others, the pirate seemed to have a knack for navigating through crowds. ”Aye! Blast ‘em all to hell!” His shout encouraged many around him as he fired another volley upon the odd creatures, searching for a Heartless emblem. There…isn’t one?! No matter how intently he searched the creatures appearance, there was no symbol to be seen. Are they locals? Glancing around him at the crowd, many seemed just as confused as he was.
If they aren’t from this world...and they aren’t Heartless… Bah! It was too much thinking! Finally, the docks were in view as the crowd surged forward towards the wooden structures that harbored many vessels floating in the water. Already there were many fighting the swarm of Shadows and Soldiers that were appearing on the shores. The sea tide was stirring up, dark storm clouds looming in the distance. Luckily, the storm hadn’t managed to reach the Port quite yet, though the dark night sky was vast and cluttered with grey clouds. The moon loom above, shrouded by a thick coat of clouds. Starlight would be nature’s only boon to the locals of Port Royal. Thankfully, the lanterns shown brightly, illuminating the city streets that led to the docks and the sands that awaited them.
As Law reached the wooden structure, passing by many rather than fighting himself, he noticed Neku already there with his weapon drawn. A girl was beside him, one wielding a rapier that Law had never seen before. No time for that… His eyes fell upon The Harpy, safe from the chaos due to the shield equipments the pirate had installed upon it. A sigh of relief passed through the pirate as he leaned against the side of the small airship. ”Oh…Luck really is on my side…” It seemed Law was oblivious to the chaos surrounding him, as the bat like creatures and Heartless swarmed the men and boys fighting on the Port Royal docks and shores.
The docks jutted from the city, housing many anchored ships that now swayed from the rocking waves. Whistling consumed the environment from powerful gales that sped over the open water. Shadows and Soldiers mainly filled the ranks of the shore and docks, though many Air Soldiers were flying over the number of defenders, making their way toward the city where more hearts were sure to be found. Countless locals of the world fought with all their heart against the darkness that began to swarm, many wielding swords or pistols, others having more unique equipment based on their trades.
It seemed war really could unify a community, after all.
Knowing the ship was safe, Law thought of his sleeping comrade that still remained in the ship’s hull. Damn it, Strax. He cursed the werewolf, who had pushed themselves too far when facing off against the monstrous Heartless on the island. Neku and the young woman beside him were in high spirits, many others following their lead as the docks and shore of Port Royal continued to be chaotic warfare. Countless men and Heartless fought while the odd bat like creatures not of this world circled above. Law spun the long gun in his hand, unfolding it into a long one sided blade. It was as black as night, golden engravings adorning the sides.
”Tch. These bastards better back up!” Raising his blade in the air, a powerful gale of wind seemed to circle around the pirate as he shouted over the chaos: ”Aero!” Around Law was a barrier of wind, causing his hair and clothes to float upwards as his feet lifted from the ground. He seemed to be levitating, though only slightly as a pale light shimmered over his body. Glancing over the battlefield, the pirate searched for signs of Charlotte. The pirate grinned as he thought of the demonic woman’s powers. Truly, she’s an ace up the sleeve. But where was she?
Readying himself for battle, the pirate stayed near his airship. It seemed that all he really cared about was ensuring it’s safety during this mess. ”Neku, Charlotte!” The pirate cupped his mouth, shouting as loud as he could to be heard over the din of battle. ”The moment we get some space, we’re out of here!” He had no intention of dying for this world. He had already gotten what he wanted. Chuckling a bit, the pirate tapped the sack of gold at his waist… Wait! Where is it?! Spinning around wildly, Law began to pat himself down frantically as he searched for his coin pouch.
His stomach sunk into his feet as he clutched the empty air at his hip. Slowly, the pirate looked down at the dock beneath him in dismay as he silently cursed his own foolishness. It seemed he had lost it while pushing through the crowd. A classic rookie mistake. What the hell, man? For a moment, he almost ignored the Heartless that were beginning to make their way towards him. There was still the heavy trunk full of gold on his ship, but the pouch had been his first time spending the prize. Some things just don't work out... He sighed, running a hand through his dirty blonde hair. An Air Soldier swooped from the sky, swiping at the pirate with fast and sharp claws. Law was grateful for the wind spell he had cast earlier, as the wind barrier erupted in a powerful gust of wind as the Heartless attacked. The moment allowed him to lift his blade to block the attack.
”Oh, perfect!” There was a dreadful laugh that escaped Law, his eyes full of malice and his face fixed into a twisted representation of glee. A Soldier and Shadow appeared from the wood of the docks, coming from the shadows to flank him. It seemed he would be able to take his anger out on something. ”Truly, Heartless have the best timing!” Swiping out with his long sword, the pirate immediately gutted the Air Soldier he had caught, causing it to evaporate into a wisp of darkness. The Shadow lunged for the pirate’s legs as he leaped over the small creature, boosted by the wind around him as he delivered a punishing combo upon it. The remaining Soldier would surely meet its fate soon enough.
There were other Heartless that began to make their way onto the docks. It seemed though the locals of Port Royal had experience and strength, many had never fought such bizarre monsters that could sink into the ground or fly through the air. Many were overwhelmed or caught up in their own fighting to keep the shore protected. Neku and the mysterious young woman that appeared near him would notice many Heartless beginning to make their way toward them. The odd bat like creatures didn’t really seem to be attacking anyone, though they were a nuisance as they fluttered through the air, throwing the beach into further chaos.
If Charlotte arrived to the docks, she would find the shore in disarray. Many fought on the sand of the beach, keeping most of the Heartless at bay by the water. The docks were beginning to grow with dark spots as other Heartless began to gravitate towards the hearts felt. Occasional Air Soldiers or Shadows would appear in the city, haunting the alleyways, left for the guards or other locals to battle.

The Bat-like creatures indeed weren't really bothering anyone, despite the fact they were still being shot at for the most part. Their numbers seemed to be slowly growing with the coming darkness, seemingly fluttering out of any small dark crevice imaginable and immediately joining the flock. But then the flock circling the docks like vultures started to move as one and dove. Much like the Demon Tower that threatened them not long ago, a deluge of wings, eyes, and fangs swept through the air and immediately took out two Air Soldiers unfortunate enough to get caught in their path. The Flock then split off, starting to descend upon the docks in groups that seemed to be targetting The Heartless exclusively.
Charlotte after finding alittle privacy, finally unfurled her wings and took to the night sky where she could see the chaos more clearly. The Air around the docks were dotted with more eyes than she cared to count, and she saw the horde of Shadelings descend upon some of the heartless. She felt some relief as she flew at top speed toward the docks, quickly finding The Harpy with Law defending per usual. Whipping up a batch of hellfire balls, she hurled them at several different Shadows before a flock of Shadelings descended upon a very unlucky Soldier- effectively tearing it apart until it dispersed. And the creatures seemed to lap up the stuff hungrily before flying off.
"Sorry I'm late- traffic was horrible," she deadpanned as she landed onto the deck of the ship. "Where's Neku? She asked, not seeing him on the deck so looked around at the dock. Wait- The Shadelings in one area seemed to be flying away from one area. It was like something was scaring them away.
Over in that neck of the woods, the small flock that had been flying around picking off Heartless turned their sights onto Neku and Mei (whose presence had already caught their attention). But when she appeared with a physical body, they all scattered and took to the air air with panic. They and The Heartless knew both knew something. Unlike The Heartless, the little bat-like creatures didn't want anything to do with it and gave Neku and Mei a wide berth.

Together, Neku and Mei had no trouble dealing with the Heartless their way -Neku with heavy swings of his sword, and Mei supporting with healing and also dealing magic damage. The duo was covering each other's weaknessess perfectly.
"Hey, quick reminder that we can't fight forever!" Neku shouted, stepping back near the Harpy, "We gotta get outta here one way or another!" "I'm aware, but... So long as the world remains like this, running away won't last forever..." "And you think I hadn't noticed that?!" "I-I'm trying to help...!"
Neku groaned as he shoved Heartless off with his heavy greatsword, while Mei finished them off with a Holy spell. After doing so, she perked up, noticing the bat-like creatures looking their way. Were they targetting them? Mei frowned a bit, uneasy. Was it... Her? With Neku so focused on the Heartless around them, she couldn't ask him at that time. But the longer the fight kept going, the harder it would be.
"Neku! We have to regroup!" she informed, "At this rate..." "I know!" Neku stepped back, pushing the Heartless back in a full swing, "Let's get on deck, and plan things from there!"
The two nodded in agreement, and pushed the Heartless back for enough space before leaving to the deck. Once there, Neku looked around before sheathing his sword back, while Mei stood in the defensive. There was a heavy sense of dread, ever since that Heartless appeared on that cursed treasure island. That treasure probably had to do with it... But, if he released it, would Law die? She never knew for sure, whether the effects would differ or not. But she couldn't chance it.
"Neku... Even if it's just the two of us... Would you go back to that island?" she asked, suddenly. "That island...? Where we found the treasure?" Neku asked back, "Why? What could there---?" Neku stopped himself before he even spoke. "Maybe that Heartless is gone, but the darkness itself hasn't been dispelled. And it's come all the way to here" Mei explained, "We can keep running away, but there'll be a point where the is no longer a safe place for us to go to."

Mayhem. As swarms of Soldiers and Shadows continued to flood the shore, pushing the locals further and further back, Neku and Mei held off countless enemies as the bat like creatures swarmed in the night. Luckily, it seemed they too were fighting the Heartless, feeding on the darkness that composed them. No one seemed quite sure what they were or where they came from, but it seemed that they would be an ally for this fight. Law remained on the dock, battling any Heartless that got closer to The Harpy than he would allow. Fire erupted through the night, sparking light in blotches upon the dark that devoured the port. Glancing upwards, the pirate was relieved to see a familiar devilish woman flying through the air, propelled by mystical wings as she hurled fire upon the Heartless. ”Ha ha! Give ‘em hell, Charlotte!” Law cheered his comrade on, encouraged as he slashed and hacked at nearby enemies. As the woman landed on the ship, he laughed and grinned up at her from the docks, giving her a ‘thumbs up’ in response to her entry. ”Better late than never, I always say!” His gold tooth glinted, even in the dark around them as a broad smile lit his features. Pointing over his shoulder at the beach, Law laughed again.
”Looks like he’s found a friend on this world!” He turned in time to see Neku and Mei finishing another swarm of Heartless off, clearing space for the locals on the beach as they wreaked havoc on the battlefield. The odd bat creatures didn’t seem to be going near them, wary of the power displayed. They continued to aid the locals in picking off the smaller Heartless around them. ”Both of ‘em are putting pressure on!” He was absolutely jovial. Something about seeing fiery youth relaxed him. Maybe it was nostalgia? Unfortunately, other than their little crew, many local defenders of this world seemed to be faring far worse than them. For many, this was their first time fighting Heartless. Some had lost their hearts to the greed of the darkness. Damn it…where’s the army?! It seemed most of the Imperial soldiers had chosen to escort the women and children to safety or had remained back to fortify the Lord’s fortress. Cupping his hand, the pirate shouted over to Neku and Mei, hoping his voice could be heard over the din of battle.
”NEKU!!” Without looking away from the young mercenary, the pirate stepped away from his docked airship. It was well guarded with Charlotte aboard. Slashing out at whatever enemy would be brave enough to get close, Law walked on the docks toward the shore where the two young friends were fighting the Heartless. ”Charlotte’s here! We gotta get to the skies!” They couldn’t do anything about these numbers on the ground. Already many of the Heartless that had fallen in battle were being replaced, surging forth from the shadows of the night. The beach was beginning to become overwhelmed. Shadows and Soldiers continued to swarm upon the locals that were brave of heart and still in fighting condition. In order to provide cover, they would have to get in the ship.
As Law reached the edge of the docks, his blue eyes looked upon the beach beneath him in disgust. ”Filthy beasts.” Flourishing his weapon, the long black and gold blade folded back upon itself, forming a long gun. BBBRRAAAAAAAAATT!!! Loud gunfire filled the night sky, cracking like thunder as countless Heartless around Neku and Mei were blasted back. Though not all would perish from the attack, it had bought the two some time. ”Don’t worry! She can come aboard, too!” The Aero spell around him gave him cover as he continued to shoot with his weapon at the nearby Heartless. He had created a small path through the crowd for them to run through.
In the air, The Harpy’s cannons would aid this fight best. Hopefully then they could lower these numbers, or find the source of all these Heartless!

Charlotte would take to the air again, casting one of her spells while dipping into her pool of dark power before whipping the Air Soldiers above them with a vile looking black liquid. One would try to swoop in and kick her only to barely miss, instead getting a tail jabbed through it in passing. Again, she loathed having to get her hands dirty. Why did she have to do such things when there were plenty of people that could do it for her? Obviously because they already WERE. That and this wasn't like having some kind of duel with a person. These creatures were nothing less than wild animals that needed to be put down. Bottom line, her hatred of Heartless continued to grow with every passing moment.
In response to the growing numbers of Heartless, more of the bat-like creatures began to emerge, eager to hunt them down. A sharp eye would notice that they actually seemed to be emerging from The Harpy. But from where exactly remained to be seen. When Neku and Mei arrived, they seemed to try twice as hard to fly in an attempt to get away from Mei. Well, not away; just out of striking range. A number of them seemed to be hanging around and watching from a safe distance. Whether or not they were still eyeing Mei or the Heartless that happened to be nearby The Harpy remained to be seen. The air around The Harpy seemed to also grow colder as something seemed to be looking for something in their minds again.

Both teens jumped on board without second thoughts. With the remaining Heartless on deck, it would be difficult to set off, but Law could probably get them away while they took care of them. Mei turned towards the pirate, firmly, while Neku held his sword, ready to keep on fighting.
"Set sail!" Mei shouted, "Once we're out of Heartless' reach, I'll explain everything! But we need to set off NOW!"
Neku, on the other hand, stroke against the Shadows standing on the ground, and took a deep breath before charging once more. With his senses completely focused on battle, Neku's body began to move almost as if it was its own, and stroke with relentless speed. While the Air Soldiers would be safe from his attack, nothing standing on the ground could resist his sword, as Neku swiftly moved through them like a flash of lightning. Once at the other end, all of the enemies puffed into smoke, and Neku glared, ready to keep fighting.
"Law, what are you waiting for?!" he shouted, readying his blade for the Air Soldiers, "Let's get outta here! FAST!"
After telling Law to set sail, Mei ran towards Neku's aid, getting ready to keep fighting, while also keeping herself at a certain limit.
"You think you'll be okay?" Neku asked, glancing at her. "I'll be fine" Mei nodded, "Right now, getting out of here and stopping this wave of darkness from where it comes is a priority. Heartless are no match for us!" "Heh... You said it!"

Satisfied with the teens rushing to the ship, Law continued to hold off a safe passage for the two as he felt his Aero spell waning. Won’t last much longer… For a moment, the pirate had wondered if the two were going to give him any lip or not. Neku particularly was prone to that. Thankfully it seemed that neither him nor his friend had any qualms with abiding. ”Set sail!” The young girl shouted out from the deck as Law made his way up the ramp and onto the ship. ”Once we’re out of the Heartless’ reach, I’ll explain everything!” Scowling at the sight of Heartless clamoring around his prized home, the pirate released his spell in a powerful final gust of wind that blasted across the ship deck. Most of the Heartless were thrown off or stunned to the point that the rest of the crew finished them off without an issue. Law’s piercing blue eyes shifted towards the young girl as he made his way towards the piloting mechanism on the raised hull platform. So, she knows what’s going on? There was a pang of mistrust that struck his heart as his hands gripped around the steering wheel of the airship. Flicking on certain switches and pressing certain buttons residing on the raised module next to him, The Harpy was silent as always while lifting out of the ocean waters and away from the chaos of the dock.
Though the temperature on the ship had shifted, Law was oblivious to the cold. He seemed unaware, as though it simply wasn’t. What didn’t go unnoticed was an odd sensation, as though a presence were among them that they couldn’t see. Gazing around the ship, which was now raised high above the port, Law muttered aloud. ”Too many damned weird things are happening…” Running a hand through his hair, the pirate gazed up at the moon, shrouded in heavy clouds that continued to swirl and rage with signs of a coming storm. He hated how it blocked its radiant light. ”We need to make this quick…” Reeling the steering wheel in the opposing direction, Law spun The Harpy so that it circled around in a wide U shape. Lowering the ship while staying a safe distance, the pirate pressed the buttons that signaled the mechanized cannons below deck. Bang! Bang! Though the cannons were small in size and number, their honing misses were powerful. I need to at least hold 'em off 'till the army gets here! He had witnessed this world's naval fleet and its power. They had countless ships on the other side of the island, sure to arrive soon with loads of able bodied soldiers to fight off this infestation.
Heartless were blasted from the shore, some dissolving completely while others were lost to the sea. The number of locals on the shore fighting had only lessened since their time taking off, causing the pirate to grimace as he gazed down at the scene beneath them. ”Alright, crew!” Law leaned over the steering wheel, hollering to those aboard with his hand cupped around his mouth. ”Prepare yourselves!” Though they were safe from the chaos below, there were risks of lowering the ship to maintain shooting distance. Dark bat like creatures continued to swarm through the air, aiding the locals in defending the shores and docks to keep the horde of Heartless from the city. Air Soldiers as well as Rapid Thruster’s began to reach the ship, flying through the night in flocks. BRAAAAAT! BRRAAAAT! Gunfire cracked the sky like thunder.
”OI!” Law’s long gun smoked from the recent firing, hoisted into the air as he scowled at the Heartless that had shrank back, only for a moment. ”Keep yer filthy paws off MY ship!” More Heartless began to swarm from the sky. Some battled with the dark bat like creatures, while others were able to slip past the chaos and seek the hearts that awaited them on the airship. ”Neku! Charlotte! Random girl!” Law’s voice carried across the ship deck, finding his companions ears with his loud hollering. ”Help keep these Heartless away from the ship! I need to provide cover for those below!” His left hand fiddled with the command module he had installed in his ship, firing the side cannons after the proper reloading time. Bang! Bang! Small mounds of Heartless would erupt through the air into the sea, meeting untimely fates.
In his right hand was his gun blade, blasting off rounds at the nearest Heartless in his sights. He wouldn’t let these creatures get his ship, or this town! This world was still too full of boons and riches he hadn't discovered yet. This world is my ticket to getting rich! I won't let them ruin it! Certain heroes had righteous ideals that gave them a furious zealous to act against the atrocities of the darkness. Law was not one of those heroes, it seemed, fueled by a selfish greed and want for more as he shot up the island and skies alike, rampaging with his yearning. There was a broad grin on the pirate's face, his gold tooth shining in the dark night.
This was where he felt alive.

Charlotte would settle back onto the deck of the ship once Neku and his "new" friend made it on, and they prepared to leave. As she hoped, The Shadelings being here was a good thing. So long as there was enough sources of darkness for them to feed off, they'd hunt The Heartless down till they were content. And since these things seemed to be coming nonstop, they probably didn't have to worry about them turning on them any time soon. Speaking of which- the ones with wings that reminded her of another creature back home were in hot pursuit of them in numbers. And why was it cold again? She felt a twinge in the back of her head for a moment but pushed it aside as she unfurled her wings and "unsheathed" her claws.
One could admire their tenacity for chasing after them so doggedly. Charlotte however was of the mindset that they were wearing her patience thin, and if she wasn't so refined she'd lose her temper completely. So she gave her wings a hard and strong flap to throw the smaller flying ones off balance before waiting for the first Air Soldier to lounge at her. It was stabbed with her tail and then it's head cleaved clean off with her claws. Then she'd move and try to draw some of them away- she didn't have any super effective spells that could take a lot of them out at once but if they weren't so clumped together that wouldn't be an issue.
Some of them took the bait, flying towards her or looking to prepare another attack and throw themselves at her. But they weren't the only ones that could fly, she just had to make sure not to get surrounded as she leaped over one with her wings. She promptly jabbed it with her tail before finishing it off with her claws as another Air Soldier nearly clipped one of her wings. Yeah, that would be an issue if she got surrounded. The offending Air Soldier was then promptly destroyed by... something. It was hard to tell but it looked like it's own shadow had come to life for a moment and tore through it's body.
The few Shadelings that had remained attached to The Harpy still clung to their perches, watching the goings on with more intelligence than you would assume an animal. Well, despite their obvious pack mentality they weren't simple animals. They were watching Mei and... assessing inbetween lapping up any escaping dark essence. The horde flying all around in the sky were simply too busy with the tide of heartless, using overwhelming numbers and their own endless hunger against their counterparts. A few would become bold, suddenly shooting off from their perch and swooping down when a Heartless was wide open, quickly dealing the finishing below and soaking up as much essence as it could before swooping back up away from the deck.

Fending off the Heartless was no problem. Neku was even taking it easy, since Charlotte and Mei were also lending a hand and fighting them. Not only that, but those strange, winged creatures were apparently on their side... Neku couldn't truly distinguish between their true intent, however, as he was somewhat weary of their sudden appearance and apparent aid. Who knew what those creatures were, or what they were up to? For all he knew, they were probably waiting on a chance to meddle with them once the Heartless were taken care of... As his thoughts went rampant, Mei's hand touched his shoulder, as she shook her head.
"Don't focus on that" she said, "Right now, they're not our enemy." "...If you say so" Neku replied, focusing on battle.
Since Charlotte was airborne, attacking the Air Soldiers as they came by, Neku found himself a bit conflicted since he wasn't exactly able to fight flying targets. He left his sword back in its sheath, while going towards Law in order to check with him, while Mei remained there, looking at the battle in the sky. Sighing, she readied her spell, aiming to at least lessen the ammount of fighting Charlotte had to do. Maybe, later, she could ask about those winged creatures, ones that, while Mei had never seen before, were definitely causing tension. And she had sensed it the moment they appeared.
"They're controlled by someone... They're not here by casualty..." Mei thought to herself, glancing over at Charlotte, "I'll ask her about it later..."
A faint glow shone in Mei's hand, grasping it with almost a zealous greed, before swinging at the Air Soldiers while shouting her spell.
"Apocalypse!" Mei shouted, "Charlotte, get back!"
A green-ish light would then appear below the Air Soldiers, in the form of a circle, as quick rays of light shot upwards, to then crash upon the Heartless, destroying them in a single go. Just in case more came about, Mei casted a Curaga spell on Charlotte, to at least restore some of her health back, followed by a Protectga for every member on deck. That, at least, would ensure minimal casualties.
"If possible, may I talk with you after this?" Mei asked Charlotte, There is a rather pressing matter I'd like to discuss."
Neku, once besides Law, looked down. People were still fighting, alright... But it seemed endless. So long as they couldn't stop the problem by the root of it, the fighting would continue. And, due to his expertise, Neku knew it wouldn't be worth to stay there. Mei was right -they had to cut the problem from where it began. Determined to help out, he looked at Law with determination.
"We get rid of those enemies, and we're back to that island! Got it?!" he stated, "No buts about it! We're going there, like it or not! Even if I have to take the wheel!" he added teasingly, knowing the sky pirate would do anything but that.
In a sense, he'd gotten Law's number fairly easy.

Bang! Bang! Cannon-fire raged as Law wheeled his airship through the night sky, blasting the swarms of Heartless on the beach into vapor. Though his ship’s weapons were aiding the locals in gaining more footing upon the shores again, the pirate’s heart continued to sink. Ugh…they just keep coming… It seemed odd to him, how the once safe port was suddenly swarming with Heartless. It’s just like that storm… Law’s eyes fell upon the heavy clouds in the distance. They were still farther at bay, but their reach continued toward Port Royal with a menacing speed. The pirate thought of the massive Heartless that had been birthed on the island they had sailed from. Just what was that place? Whatever it was, it didn’t seem normal to the pirate. It was almost like it sat closer to the darkness than the rest of the world…he had a nagging feeling that he himself had aided in unleashing this. Well…there were Heartless on that island before we got there, though. He was beginning to piece together the puzzle.
ZAP! A brilliant burst of green light caused him to jolt out of his thoughts. The young girl aiding Neku and Charlotte seemed to be a powerful caster, as she eradicated the remaining Heartless on deck and around the ship with ease. Soaring through the air unhindered, Law was able to cascade another round of cannon fire upon the Heartless below. Bang! Bang! Luckily, it seemed that more locals had begun to emerge to defend their home world. Soldiers were beginning to pour down from the town to the docks as well, having secured the city and maintained order. Neku reached Law’s side on the raised command platform on the hull of the ship, his voice stern with a righteous passion that somewhat irritated the pirate, though not down to his core. ”We get rid of those enemies, and we’re back to that island! Got it?!” The teen had an annoying way of asserting dominance where he had none in a situation.
A grin formed on Law’s face, he couldn’t help but appreciate the kid’s spunk. Not many addressed a hardened pirate in that manner. He certainly has some of what it takes… That was a thought for later, though. ”No buts about it! We’re going there, like it or not! Even if I have to take the wheel!” The two hadn’t known each other too long, but they had bene through a lot in the short time they had. Law continued to smirk at Neku’s teasing tone, rolling his eyes a bit as he waved the young mercenary off. ”Yeah, yeah, I was already doing that!” The pirate gave a hearty laugh as he fired off the cannons once more, allowing more soldiers and locals openings against the Heartless masses. The numbers were seeming to wane, though not as much as Law had hoped. ”I figured somethin’ was off…we’ll help out until the naval fleet shows up.”
Reaching into his pilot’s jacket, Law pulled out an interesting brass monocle. Lifting it to his eye, the magic glass allowed him to see far in the distance, even at night. Around the bay of the port, where lush tropical trees swayed in the heavy night winds, Law could make out the faint tip of a look out post. It swayed in the heavy ocean tides, finally emerging from the corner in the distance. It was the nose of an Imperial ship. ”The Imperial guards should be here in a moment! They’ll be able to flank the bastards and win the battle!” It seemed they wouldn’t have to hold out much longer. He removed the eyeglass, stowing it safely into his inside jacket pocket once more. Looking back at Neku, Law lowered his voice a bit and raised an eyebrow. ”Who’s the chick? She’s crazy strong! Where’d you find her?” The young girl certainly didn’t seem like a local. Didn't really have that scurvy, lack of modern healthcare vibe about her.
Before getting an answer to his question, Law would leap back from the wheel in surprise as two sudden things happened. First, small portals of darkness signaled more Heartless emerging. Some emerged directly on the ship deck while others appeared in the sky around Charlotte. It seemed that though the tides were turning, they weren’t in the clear quiet yet! The second thing that happened was that the night was illuminated with a powerful glow of moonlight. It seemed the almost full moon, which had been covered in thick clouds, had finally emerged thanks to the powerful gusts of wind that continued to rage on in the night. The Harpy, as well as the entire shore below, was illuminated in moonlight. Law’s appearance had shifted once this happened, his clothing seemingly tattered and destroyed, his body skeletal and decayed.
”WHAT THE F*&K?!” The pirate stood aghast, looking down upon himself in shock and horror (well, as much expression as a mostly decayed and skeletal face can muster) as he shouted out in surprise.

The air was alive with the chittering of fangs and flapping of wings as their unlikely allies scattered on reflex from The Harpy's support, and for a moment those hungry eyes from below turned up toward them. But only for a moment. Charlotte would continue to elegantly move around the tactless heartless literally throwing themselves at her, actually glad that she let her younger sister teach her how to defend herself. Who knew that would actually be useful now. At Mei's warning she flapped and moved backwards as Light shot up to tear through them; and startling the hell out of the Shadelings which shielded their eyes.
Charlotte landed back onto the deck during the lull. "Sure, of course. What is it about?" She asked taking a moment to catch her breath. It was still too soon to be doing this again. And then some more Heartless rudely appeared to interupt them. But it was seeing Law that finally got to her. "WHAT IN THE DAMNED UNDERWORLD?" she echoed Law's swearing. That... definitely was not a good look. Shocking as it had been, there were other more pressing matters. Like The unwelcome guests. Charlotte took to the air again, brandishing her claws to keep the newcomers away from the ship.
The bat-like creatures around The Harpy seemed to be chittering up a storm, waving their wings about for- were they laughing? Something was definitely amused by this turn of events as the flock of thirty rallied together and started to go after The Heartless flying by the ship. "Bring the girl to the island," a short, simple sentence intoned in Law's mind. It was a familiar presence, it had been whoever or whatever had been talking with him before. The one that was trying to barter with him for the loot he had taken. The presence didn't linger any longer than what was necessary.

While distracted by the more Heartless as they appeared, Neku sharply turned to face Law as he shouted, and flinched. Just a second ago, he... Mei glanced back, yet didn't lose her composure. Holding her rapier firmly, she turned to face the Heartless, unflinching.
"Focus on that later, please" she said firmly, catching Neku's attention back, "I promised I'd explain everything, didn't I?" "Ah... R-Right..." Neku managed to mutter. "Then... Let's get rid of the Heartless. It's about time we end this already." "..." Neku faced upward with determination, "Got it. Leave the grounded ones to me. It'll be a piece of cake." "Understood!" "Heh... We're just missing Tori. If she were here, then this'd be like the old days." "Heh... I can't agree more."
Another blast of grey mist emerged from Mei's feet as a sudden rise in power seemed to emanate from her, but Neku paid it no mind. Holding his blade firmly, he ran towards the Shadows and Soldiers on deck, and a few steps away, he pulled himself up for a jump before slamming his sword firmly against the group gathering, hoping to at least lessen their numbers. Mei, taking a deep breath, made use of her rapier to touch the ground, as an orb of light began to grow and grow the longer the kept drawing a circle, until she picked up speed and tossed it towards the group of Air Soldiers, exploding as soon as it made contact with the flock.
"Law!" she shouted, "While I ask that you keep on course, please tread carefully! Right now, you're as vulnerable as anyone of us! So, please, just be wary of your surroundings, and focus on getting us out of here!" she explained, "Once this menace is taken care of, I promised I would expain it all, and that, I shall!" "Tch..." Neku clicked his tongue with amusement, "I'm damn sure he'd like an explanation now... But we ain't got time for that right now! So!" he regained his posture, raising his body back up, "Time to give 'em hell!"

Imperial ships sailed into the port waters, firing off their own primitive cannons at the swarms of Heartless on the beach. Bang! Bang! Though older in design and technology, the gunpowder cannons aboard the naval fleet were still nothing to scoff at. Heartless were sent flying through the air as the cannons erupted into the wet shore, spraying sand and water everywhere. As the locals cheered below, thankful for the respite that the army provided them, Law continued to stand in horror as he stood aboard his airship. The Harpy, which had been flying through the night sky firing down upon the shore, was now stationary in the air, floating idly as its captain seemed to be undergoing a crisis. ”W-WHAT IS THIS?!” He was beyond confused. Judging by the sounds of shouts coming from his crew, everyone else was fairly surprised, too. No one was really able to stop and discuss the happening, as more Heartless continued to surround the ship.
”WHAT IN THE DAMNED UNDERWORLD?!” Charlotte’s yell caused Law to look up in the air, as the devilish woman was once more hurling spells of fire at the countless Air Soldiers. The odd bat like creatures continued to aid her, swarming against the Heartless with zealous as they devoured the darkness. What are they doing…? The creatures were making odd chirping noises, creating a loud din above the clash of battle. As Neku and Mei began to work against more Heartless on the ship, the undead clutched at his head as though his world was spinning. Just then, a voice interrupted his thoughts. For a moment, his mind felt…cold as it penetrated his psyche. ”Bring the girl to the island.” Within a moment, the voice was gone, causing the dazed pirate to wonder if it had truly been there at all. Why did it seem familiar?
”Law!” Once again, the chaos broke his focus as Mei shouted out to him. The young caster was certainly putting the work on the Heartless, utilizing her powerful magic to destroy and rupture the battlefield, providing Charlotte and Neku with support. ”While I ask that you keep on course, please tread carefully!” It seemed the girl had a warning for him. Does she know what’s going on? Just who was this girl? Neku hadn’t gotten a chance to answer his questions, with all the commotion going on. Hopefully he would get answers soon. ”Right now, you’re as vulnerable as any of us!” The girl continued to shout over the battle taking place on the ship, just as Law brandished his weapon, firing off a few rounds at the nearest Heartless aboard. BBBRRAAT! For a moment, it was hard to hear Mei over the thundering of his weapon. Something about staying safe and getting them out of here. "Aye, lass! That's the idea! No need to worry 'bout me, though!"
What did she mean, though? She must not know I’m immortal. A broad grin had erupted on the pirate’s skeletal face as he continued to rain gunfire upon the Heartless around him. There was a boldness in his attacks that hadn’t been there during his humanity. One that reeked of power, privilege and ignorance. Flourishing his transforming weapon into its long one sided blade, Law delivered a punishing combo on the nearest enemies. While doing this, the pirate was caught up in the moment, unaware of the Soldier at his back. The Heartless had emerged in the night, silently and swiftly lunging toward Law, who’s back was exposed and unaware. ”ARGH!!!” The pirate shouted out in pain as the Heartless’ claw ran down his back, slicing into his decaying flesh. There was no blood, but searing agony erupted through his body.
”W-what the h-hell?!” Law quickly spun around, putting his guard up as his sword blocked a second swipe form the same Soldier. It can hurt me?! His blue eyes, vibrant and piercing despite the curse, fell upon Mei across the ship deck. The young caster had warned him about being vulnerable. Law had already known that the Aztec Curse didn’t protect one from getting their heart stolen, but surely the immortality should still be making him feel invincible? She knows what’s going on…I need to talk with her… First, he had to focus on getting out of the situation they were in. Luckily, the Imperial fleet had arrived below, turning the tide of battle for those below on the shore. Unfortunately for Law, aboard The Harpy, there was no such backup.
The undead stood surrounded on the raised platform that held the steering wheel. Wielding his sword in a tight grip with his left hand, Law glanced around his surroundings with a grimace. He couldn’t allow himself to leave the steering wheel unguarded, but he was in a bad situation. ”KEEP YOUR DISTANCE!” The shout was meant for his crew, as Law pointed his blade high in the sky as he summoned forth his strength in a powerful spell. ”THUNDARA!!” Bolts of lightning fell upon the ship deck, rupturing through the mass of Heartless aboard, felling many around him in order to turn the tides. With less Heartless surrounding him, the pirate was able to return to his original task: steering them away from here.
Wheeling the airship around, Law began to set sail away from Port Royal, towards the island they had originally come from. He hoped the crew would continue providing him cover to steer while fighting the Heartless. The moonlight was still full and radiant, Law’s skeletal features prominent and menacing. He was growing impatient. He simply wanted answers. What the hell is going on?!

Charlotte continued to hunt down the heartless flying around the ship, flinching as the flock of Shadelings in unison flew passed her and started enveloping any unlucky prey. She moved herself away to let them finish off the ones in the air. She had a lovely view of a navy coming in to help the city, also watching as The Shadelings down there started to also scatter. They eventually formed something that instantly reminded her of that tower of heartless. The mass of creatures seemed to just be flying around, feeling many eyes turn their way. Charlotte landed back onto The Harpy. "Law, why in the hell did you turn into a skeleton? WHAT did you do?" Charlotte demanded as if he actually knew, she just had enough of this madness finally and needed to vent. "Was it the gold?" She added thoughtfully. That was the only thing she could have thought of that would have resulted in this. Because he hadn't turned into one until now.

"Are we safe now?!" Mei asked, while striking at the few remaining Heartless. "Keep at it!" Neku shouted back, "We've got a few ways to go!" "Understood!"
The teens kept fighting relentless, not letting go no matter what. While Law's matter was rather urgent and shocking, Neku had to focus on battle. Leaving Mei alone while he remained in shock over Law's skeletical body was not an option he'd consider. With that in mind, he set to get rid of all of the remaining Heartless.
Sword in hand and senses keen, he striked against the few remaining Shadows, while Mei attacked with a flurry of attacks at a group of Soldiers. The two wouldn't let up until there was no trace left.
Once they'd been taken care of, Mei would turn towards Law as she dismissed the rapier to its sheath hanging behind her, and taking a deep breath. It didn't seem like she was afraid, though, which came as a shock for Neku. Who would've thought that the girl who once couldn't even fight with her eyes open would be so calm towards that sight.
"If it's not an issue... Is it possible to talk about this below deck?" she asked calmly, with an easygoing smile.

His head was reeling. Reaching up to touch his forehead, Law’s gaze fell on his skeletal hand. Heh…at least my rings didn’t fall off… It was his only grip on the reality around him. ”Law—“ Charlotte’s voice seemed distant and foggy. For a moment, though his eyes fell on the woman, it didn’t seem he registered her. ”WHAT did you do?” The last part of the question reached him. Blinking a bit, the pirate looked around him in a stunned awe. ”Was it the gold?” If there had still been a heart residing within his decaying ribcage, it would have stilled. ”The...gold?” How had he not thought of that? Drunk off of the reality of gaining both riches and immortality, Law had hardly given that possibility any thought. A memory flooded his mind for a moment, how all of the locals had mentioned the treasure as cursed. He had hardly paid the superstition any mind, believing it a foolish rumor in order to ward off thieves and the like. ”Maybe the pirates didn’t make it up…” Law mumbled to himself, still too caught up in his thoughts to pay any attention to his surroundings.
Taking advantage of the exposed undead’s negligence, a Soldier sprang from the stairs of the deck leading to the raised steering platform. Cycloning its way through the air in a spinning lung forward, plummeting against Law in a powerful attack. Shouting out in pain and surprise, the undead was launched across the platform and sent reeling over the railing edge. The Soldier wobbled and staggered for a moment, dazed from its spinning attack. As Neku and Mei finished taking care of the remaining Heartless aboard the ship, they would turn to see Charlotte standing alone near the steering wheel near a lone remaining Soldier. Bang! Bang! Below were the sounds of cannon fire, as the naval fleet had arrived and begun to turn the tide of battles for the locals. Though the battle on the shore continued, the number of Heartless were much fewer thanks for the Imperial forces and bizarre bat like creatures. Many of the fluttering creatures remained, gathering in a swarm to continue to feast on whatever Heartless seemed to remain in the area.
Over the side of The Harpy, Law clutched at the side of the hull, his skeletal body crashing against the ship as he banged in the wind against it. ”Damn it! That bastard caught me by surprise!” His voice was lost in the wind, but it still felt good to vent the anger and frustration. ”Shit, that hurts, too!” Looking down, the pirate was surprised to see he wasn’t bleeding. There was a large gash in his side, his jacket torn and revealing a gouged and decaying torso beneath. Three large claw marks were the only sign of the attack, there was no blood or any other sign of damage. ”Why did it hurt so bad?!” Since gaining the magic of Immortality, Law had hardly felt any pain whatsoever in any of his battles after having secured the Aztec gold. Why was this Heartless' attack any different? The curse of the gold seemed to be causing more disturbances to his body than just his appearance. Looking up towards the sky, the moon shone brilliantly upon Port Royal. Law personally felt the entire scene was a bit mocking, really. Grunting in effort and pain, the skeletal pirate began to hoist himself up against the mirrored hull of his airship.
The lone Soldier remaining on the deck of the ship paid no head towards its own disadvantages. Lunging towards Charlotte, the nearest heart it could sense, the Heartless swiped with its powerful claws. Perhaps it really thought it could take the powerful mystic on by itself, or perhaps it didn’t care about the chances of success and was only driven by the hunger and greed the darkness composing it urged.
Perhaps it didn’t think at all.

And perhaps it could stop existing to. Charlotte noted that Law seemed... more out of it than she was used to in the short time they'd known eachother. But he had snapped out of it too late for the creature to sneak up on him. And her first response to it coming at her was her tail coming up and wrapping around it's wrist before pulling, throwing the creature back over ehr shoulder and hard into the deck. Charlotte then placed her foot firmly down on it's neck and kept the now struggling creature. "I wasn't done talking to him you annoying little pest," Charlotte snarled with a tone and glare befitting of a half-demon before she finally stomped down on the soldier's head to finish it off before it could get free, or rip her dress- neither were good.
"You are wasting time," a familiar and icy voice intoned, returning to law's mind once again. The bat-like creatures seemed to have returned to their perches as Charlotte hurried her way over and leaned over the side.
"Need a hand?" Charlotte deadpanned reaching down to help Law up. Her composure had returned to normal, for now.

Mei sighed, somewhat unamused, while Neku sheathed his sword after sensing no nearby danger. However, he was also weary of the bats now perched near them, glaring every now and then. It was definitely an uneasy feeling with those things around.
As for Mei, she calmly approached Law and Charlotte, still with her doubt in mind. If they could talk about it without those creatures listening, then things would be slightly better. She'd notice something odd the moment they appeared, and she wasn't trusting them one bit. So, as Law recovered his step back, she looked calm yet firm, with her suggestion still in hand.
"So, will you listen now?" she asked, "If possible, I think it's best to explain all of this below deck. Not to mention..." Mei glared faintly back at the bats, "Out here, we run the risk of being overheard." "But damn it..." Neku groaned, "The hell's with that appearance? Too sudden for my taste, too..."
As if to poke into the wound -not literally-, Neku walked towards Law, and poked his forehead just as a jib. Cold to the touch, and definitely not flesh. Neku frowned a bit more. That appearance was way too similar to an Undead or a Mindflyer... If he didn't know any better, he would've probably gone at Law without hesitation.
"You messed up real bad, y'know that?" he said, firmly, backing away, "Now I see why you didn't want me to touch that gold, Mei... It's because of that thing that he's like this, isn't it?" "Mm-hmm. You sure catch up quick, Neku..." Mei smiled, somewhat relieved. "...Welp, you heard her. Better go below deck, less we're overhear by unwanted guests. 'Sides, Strax oughta take a listen, right? He's still resting, though... Meh, we can fill 'im in later. Come on!"

”You are wasting time,” Where did he know this voice? For a moment, the undead felt an odd sensation—a fog in his brain as he clutched at the side of the ship. W-what is happening? Was he finally losing his mind as well? ”Need a hand?” Charlotte’s voice was a breath of fresh air, though her hand was the true salvation. Clutching it with his skeletal grip, Law hoisted himself back onto the deck, sighing in relief under the moonlight. Glancing around at the skies, the pirate was thankful that The Harpy had stayed its course during the skirmish. They had already begun sailing away from Port Royal. For a moment, his eyes fell on the odd bat like creatures. It seemed they hadn’t disappeared from the ship yet. Something was off. Well, that was an understatement. Everything was off, really. Nothing had been going right ever since they had gone to that cursed island.
”So, will you listen now?” Mei’s voice cut through Law’s worrying, causing the skeletal man to glance over in her direction. Neku and her had managed to make their way over to the Pilot’s Deck. The young woman had a serious look on her face. ”If possible, I think it’s best to explain all of this below deck. Not to mention…” The look she gave the bats was followed by Law, who scowled at them. ”Out here, we run the risk of being overheard” Though he still wasn’t sure who this young woman was or how she knew so much of what was going on, Law didn’t sense a dangerous vibe from her. Years of piracy would train one’s intuition, if anything else. At Neku’s jibe and poke, the pirate scowled and slapped his hand away. It seemed he was still in a bitter mood about the situation.
”You messed up real bad, y’know that? Now I see why you didn’t want me to touch that gold, Mei…” Neku’s comment to the young woman informed Law of two things. One, her name. Two, that indeed, it was the gold that had done this to him. Looking down at his own skeletal form, the pirate’s blue eyes widened slightly. The…cost…of immortality… As the others began to make their way below deck, Law took a moment to gaze at the night sky. He would have to change the course. He hadn’t set it for anywhere specific. Just the hell away from the port. With a sigh, the undead trudged over to the steering module. The Heartless had emerged at Port Royal due to something on that island. Damn it, all! Not only did he have to deal with this bizarre curse, but he also had to deal with more Heartless! Kicking at the deck floor for a moment in frustration, the pirate entered the proper coordinates into the module.
Mumbling to himself, Law made his way below deck, following far behind the others. The price of immortality… The thought continued to race through his mind. Eternal life. Never dying. Such magic seemed impossible, yet here he stood with it as his reality. Food turned to ash. Liquor tasted sour and spilled through his belly. Heaving a sigh, the pirate slumped over as he made his way down the staircase and into the small space beneath deck. As everyone gathered past the cannon space and in one of the few small rooms available to them (they made sure to use one that didn’t have Strax in it, to not disturb him), Law felt some relief as his appearance returned to normal. The moment he had sought shelter from the moonlight, the curse seemed to fade. His features were as good as new, even the wound from earlier was gone, the clothes mended.
For a moment, he blinked, looking down at himself in astonishment. ”It’s only when I’m in the moon—huh?” It was a mumble, though there was a slight grin on his face. The price of immortality. Maybe there were loopholes to it, after all. The pain in his side had vanished, as well as all physical evidence of his wound. His body seemed normal, with all its flesh and muscle in order. Leaning against one of the small bunk beds, Law crossed his arms and waited for all to gather in the room before speaking. ”So…Mei, was it?” The pirate pointed at the young girl, a grimace on his face as he processed all the information. ”Just who are you—and how do you know so much about what’s going on here? You don’t look like a Port Royal local to me.” Pushing himself off from the banister of the bunk bed, Law paced around the room for a moment.
So far, he had successfully managed to swipe the Aztec Gold and gain its Immortality…though he had also offhandedly assisted in unleashing darkness upon Port Royal and all its local citizens. There was also the undead curse thing to deal with…though truthfully, the pirate was warming up to that. Running his warm hands full of life through his dirty blonde hair, Law took a moment to simply take in a breath. He was near his wits ends. Damned curse! I really want a drink…
