Charlotte understandably grimaced at the cold. bony hand but soldiered through it and helped Law back up. She did not hide her... dissatisfaction and wiped off her hand out of habit. She had no idea who or where Mei came from but she sounded like she knew what was going on. Probably everyone there had pieced together what had happened by now. The Shadelings lingered, as expected. Even knowing what they were, Charlotte didn't feel any more relaxed with having them eye them up and down. So she was grateful to go down below deck with them. The Shadelings would just keep watching, never blinking as they skittered alittle to keep them in sight before they all disappeared below deck.
Is it cold down here or is it just me?" Charlotte commented with a shiver. There didn't seem to be anything else strange going on so it made no sense to her why it was so cold. "I'm honestly surprised that Strax of all things, would STILL be out of it," she added subtly. Really, the fact that any of them were was probably surprising. There was the sound of chittering back ont he deck, they must have been having their own little discussion. "Right! So earlier, Law's becoming an undead. It's a curse right? We all in agreement on that?" She asked wanting to make sure they were all on the same page.

Once down below, Mei took a deep breath. For once, that nerve-wracking dread from the Shadelings was gone, if only for a while. Neku noticed that, but didn't say or do anything. Last thing he wanted was to ruin something over, especially after what happened over deck with Law.
"Right! So earlier, Law's becoming an undead. It's a curse, right? We all in agreement on that?" Charlotte comentary brought Mei and Neku back to the sittuation at hand. Calmly, Mei nodded. Her intuition wasn't wrong. But if that alone was what brought such conclusion, then... Maybe things would be difficult later on.
"I know I promised to explain everything I know, but..." Mei said calmly, "So far, a lot of things are already known... After all, you all saw what happened, and even got the reason spot on." "So it was the gold, huh?" Neku said, shaking his head, "Well, gives us a point in favor for bein' so damn reluctant to follow for starters... Although that ain't somethin' to be proud of right now, huh?" "Ahem..." Mei scoffed, causing Neku to shut his trap for a while. She then looked at Law, "You do know what this means here onwards, right? What this curse now truly hides... It's up to you whether or not you want things to go back the way they were. But aside from information, I can't give much aside.
Mei took a seat, calmly, before taking another deep breath, and answering Law's previous question. He had the right for an answer, after all.
"Well... I'm... Hmm..." Mei struggled a bit to answer, glancing with clear worry at Neku, "I'm just like anyone else -a human. Although... Things happened here and there..." she admitted with an uneasy smile, "And... Well... Let's just say that... I have knowledge of things most people wouldn't have at first glance. I... Unfortunately can't explain much than that, due to the fact that even I'm not too sure about it all. But... That's all for me."

Law sighed, leaning against the wall of the small room before slowly sliding down it into a sitting position. Charlotte had mentioned below deck being cold, but if it was, he didn't feel it. Even his breath couldn't be seen, after all. Resting his arms on his knees, the pirate looked up at Mei. All she essentially told him was that she had knowledge of most things other people wouldn’t, but couldn’t freaking talk about it. ”Tch! What good does that do me?!” Scratching at the back of his head, Law grumbled for a moment before standing back up, resting his hands on his hips as he looked at the crew around him. ”Alright! So, we all know the gold is cursed. I’m immortal unless I’m in the moonlight…then I’m—er, a weird skeleton thing, I guess.” It even sounded weird to say it aloud. Sighing again, the pirate ran his hands over his face before shaking his head, getting back into the game. ”The more pressing matter is why the Heartless have reached Port Royal.” His face became serious as he looked at Mei.
”Obviously, when we took the gold, some crazy shit happened on that island.” Crossing his arms, the pirate looked up towards the small ceiling as he thought aloud. ”The pirates ended up being too close to the darkness, their greed and Captain luring too much of it with his evil heart…” Was that totally correct, though? Law felt like he was missing something. Waving the thought off, he continued. ”Regardless, when Strax and I booted the loot, that guy freaked, turning into a massive Heartless and engulfing the island with darkness.” Rubbing the back of his neck, he returned his gaze to the crew around him. ”Whether or not the pirate’s had already been messing with the darkness on that island isn’t really the point…because when we got there they had already begun getting attacked by the Heartless.” If they were attacked by the Heartless, was it really them that were using the Darkness? ”Maybe it was just the Captain…”
It was just a theory, but one that Law found believable. If it was only the Captain who had been tampering with the Darkness that lurked on that island, it made sense that when his treasure was captured all hell would break loose. If the rest of the crew wasn’t in on it…they were bound to get attacked… He was beginning to piece it all together. They had never finished dealing with the Captain. They had fled the raging island, letting it dissolve into the Darkness that had been surging from it. ”Hm…we all knew we had to go back to the island…but will there even be an island left?” He said the thought aloud, scratching at his chin. ”It kinda…was a shit show when we left it…” Law thought of the treasure, safe with Strax at the moment in another room. There was a sinking feeling in his gut.
Even if he wanted to undo the curse…he had lost some of his coin during the skirmish at Port Royal. Looking down at his now normal looking hands, the pirate continued to ponder. The price of immortality…There was the possibility that he was stuck like this. Eternal life in exchange for eternal misery, eh? It was a little funny, in an ironic sort of way. Law could appreciate that, being a hoodlum himself. "Regardless...something about that island is significant. I don't think the Captain was guarding just the Aztec gold, there..." Looking at the crew, Law assumed everyone had already agreed on that, but hadn't wanted to simply set coarse towards a raging storm of darkness. They had to be smarter, this time. Their first time on that island went horribly wrong. They hadn't expected any of what had happened to happen, after all.
"We can't just head there with no plan, though." A horrible storm of Darkness had shrouded the island, which had broken into small bits of floating land in between masses of darkness swallowing the world up. "I've a feeling that island could easily be a grave."

Charlotte arched an eyebrow at Mei when she said she knew things but couldn't say what those things were. Something was... off about this in her mind. She had now been looking between Mei and neku since the fighting had stopped and noted that the two appeared to know eachother- atleast in her mind. Neku didn't just clam up for anyone, she recalled. Charlotte was sure they knew eachother. Well that was quite lucky for Neku. Her mind briefly drifted off with the hope that maybe she'd run into one of her sisters on one of these worlds. There was the sound of skittering as The Shadelings from above deck all seemed to gather at the doorway. Charlotte flashed them a nasty glare and hissed, discouraging them from atleast trying to eavesdrop on them.
"Seeing as I doubt most of us here know the local lore-" Charlotte glanced at Mei, subtly referring to what she knew but didn't understand. "All we have to go on is that there were pirates and cursed gold, and after we took the gold the captain turned into a powerful heartless for one reason or another. What if this is simply because we didn't kill him? Which would mean all we have to do is find and kill him. Which sounds easier than it will be," Charlotte continued matter of factly. She sounded sure of herself but there was no indication that killing the captain's heartless would actually stop what was going on. But it was the first and closest thing she could think of as to what they could do.
There was more skittering and chittering above deck. Hopefully the Shadelings didn't get restless. Unknown to her; but anyone that decided to look out the window would see a cloud of black with specks of yellow tossed in. The horde of Shadelings were leaving the port and seemed to be following after them...

"Ah-Umm..."
Mei was quick to object, shaking her head with vigor. She had a feeling it'd be easier said than done... But not to that extend. Not only that, but they had gotten the wrong idea about her intentions. She'd said all she knew. She hadn't kept anything secret whatsoever, but the reason how she knew about them was what she had no answer to. Knowing that confusion made her worry. The last thing she wanted was to be thought ill of...
"I'm... I'm sorry if I gave off the wrong impression, but..." she apologized, "I've said all I know. I don't know why I know about them, but... I just do. But I've hidden nothing from you -honest."
Neku just glanced, unsure on what to say or do. He was thinking on what would be the best solution to all of that. Charlotte's intuition felt wrong... Knowing about the Heartless so much gave him enough confidence to think so. It felt as if there was something else... But what? He could only guess at that point, but...
"...What if it wasn't that rotten-to-the-core captain that set this up?" he suggested after a while, "I mean, I'm just guessin' at this point, but... I don't think that they even knew about it. After all, weren't they just as frightened of the Heartless as anyone else, despite bein' immortal and all?" "Neku...?" Mei looked at him, unsure. "Oi, don't take me for that word, though!" Neku shrugged, "As I said, I'm just guessin', is all. No clear idea whatsoever."

”What if this is simply because we didn’t kill him?” Law remained leaning against the wall, his arms crossed over his chest as he nodded along with Charlotte’s plan. ”Which would mean all we have to do is find and kill him. Which sounds easier than it will be…” That part was true. If it was indeed tied to the Captain, they had their work cut out for them. Even now, in another room, Strax was still recuperating from going toe-to-toe with the Heartless. Something doesn’t add up, though… It felt like they were barely scratching the surface. Of what, he wasn’t sure, but Law knew he didn’t like the feeling he had settling in his heart. ”I’m…I’m sorry if I gave off the wrong impression, but…” Mei’s voice jolted the pirate from his thoughts as his gaze fell upon the young woman. It seemed she had divulged everything she had known about this world and its happenings to them. Law sighed a bit, looking down.
Hm…what if it isn’t just the Captain, though? He had seen a storm similar to the one they had escaped from, back on his original world. It had been during that storm that he had been sucked up into a vast and empty hole, launched to a different world. Luckily, the pirate’s home was his airship, so the man hardly had any qualms about it. As if they shared the same thoughts, Neku chided in. ”What if it wasn’t that rotten-to-the-core captain that set this up?” The question hung in the air for a moment. Law nodded, straightening himself as the young mercenary continued. It seemed they were on the same track, after all.
”I was thinking the same thing, Neku.” Resting a hand to his chin in thought, the pirate wondered aloud. ”I think it has to do with a few things… not just the Captain.” He clicked his tongue, a flicker of annoyance crossing his face. ”I’ve seen something like that storm before...I think regardless of whether or not the Captain was f$^&ing around with some dark forces isn’t the sum of the whole.” He paused, shaking off the memory. ”I think it had to do with the island.” Almost as though the island itself were cursed. Looking around the room, Law hoped he hadn’t lost them yet. Even he wasn’t quite sure if it all made sense. ”I think there’s something on that island…something even the pirate’s and the Captain didn’t know about.” Scratching at the back of his head, Law looked around at the crew. ”I’m not sure what it could be…there were so many rumors about that island, I don’t even remember ‘em all…” Sighing a bit, Law took a deep breath, trying to regain himself. He refused to give up here. Pounding a fist into an open palm, he grinned at his crew. ”I say we try to fly around the island and see if we can manage to find what’s there.”
He wasn’t even sure how much of the island was left. On top of that, there was a raging storm that was produced by intense dark powers. On top of that, there was the Captain, who had slipped up and lost his heart to the Darkness. ”I’m assuming you’re all still in, yeah?” He grinned a bit, eyeing his comrades with a mischievous glance. He didn’t expect or demand their help, but something told him in his heart that these weren’t the kind of people to abandon a world becoming consumed by darkness. ”So…unless anyone has any brilliant plans or ideas, I suppose we’ll be setting sail~”

Something ELSE on the island? What could that be? She just very recently had a name to put to these creatures along with a simple explanation to how they behaved. The island was significant to this world. She really hated being left in the dark with no idea how to proceed. But she was too proud to give that off. Mei said she had been honest with them and admitted that she just didn't know how she knew, which didn't help but it wasn't important. For now if she was going to help them with whatever hare-brained scheme they went with, that would suffice for now. For a moment her mind wandered back to what could be on the island. And her mind then also snapped to The Shadelings, which she knew hung around "cursed" places. But the Heartless went after hearts. Was the dark storm... a massive influx of them coming? Why? Why was it just after their island escapades that there were so many of them coming? "Oh! That reminds me- you wanted to talk to me about something?" Charlotte asked Mei, suddenly remmebering.

Both teens were at a loss. While they nodded at Law's suggestion of going there and solving the problem themselves, it didn't look so simple... At Charlotte's question, Mei blinked a few times, recalling that which she'd asked before. How could she forget?!
"R-Right... About those... Bat-like creatures" she mentioned, "You're the only one I can think of that would know something about them... If possible, could you explain us what they are?" "Why bother?" Neku asked, frowning, "They helped us back then, and, sure they're creepy 'n' all, but what's the big deal?" "It's just my idea, but... They seemed drawn onto something else, actually... I might be overthinking things, though..." Mei smiled with unease. "Like you always do..." Neku sighed, exasperated.

No one else seemed to have any other ideas about the island. Satisfied that their meeting had come to a conclusion, Law stepped out of the room as Charlotte asked Mei about her question. There was already a lot of information the pirate was processing and they had to set sail. Whatever they were discussing, if it was important, he would find out eventually. Stretching a bit and cracking his neck, Law walked from the small room through the hall that led to the cannon room below deck. Upon walking up the stairs, Law scowled and kicked away any Shadelings that had gathered in an attempt to spy and eavesdrop. ”Damned pests! Get off my ship already!” Shooing many away and continuing his way to the other staircase, the one that led up to the pilot’s deck, Law looked up towards the sky.
Thankfully the moon was shrouded in heavy clouds at the moment, not exposing his true form. The heavy winds from earlier had died down. It seemed wherever they had fled to, it was further away from the darkness. Looking down at the flesh that covered his bones, the pirate grimaced for a moment. The price of Immortality… He was still weighing it out. Hm…I don’t feel tired…or hungry… Raising a hand to his stomach, Law clenched at the white shirt exposed beneath the open pilot’s jacket. He did feel empty, though. Sighing a bit, he ran a hand through his hair before a slight smirk crossed his lips. Same as always, then. Feeling a weight lifted from his shoulders, Law wore a smile as he made his way up to the steering wheel. Reaching over to flick a few switches and press a few buttons on the control module he had installed, the pirate heaved at the large wooden and metal steering wheel.
It was time they set sail for the island. Again. Hopefully this time it goes better... The bitter thought stuck in his mind.

The Shadelings would briefly disperse at Law emerging from below decks, chittering in protest before watching him head up to the wheel. Most of them returned to where they had been, trying to eavesdrop whilst the rest seemed to perch overhead Law and... watched him. They seemed to be eying him like a tasty treat but were keeping their distance. "But can you handle the price?" The Voice asked with a hint of amusement.
"Oh those? I do know what they are. I'm actually surprised that they're in this world too," Charlotte said thoughtfully. "They're called Shadelings, and based on what I know, they're the physical manifestations of Dark Elemental Spirits. They're sentient bits of elemental magic more or less. Shadelings are on the creepier spectrum of things, and they like to gather in dark or cursed places. Which seems to fit our destination to a tee doesn't it?" She finished with a ghost of a smile.

Mei frowned, tilting her head back and forth, while deep in thought. While the answer didn't exactly help her understand any more than what she did, it still confused her. She could only guess Charlotte was not the cause for the Shadelings being there...
Leaving the two girls -or rather, girl and woman- alone, Neku decided to take a stroll above deck. He didn't expect Law to be there, especially after the shock that was the moon revealing his now true form. Smirking with a hint of amusement, Neku whistled his way towards the steering wheel, seemingly not paying Law any attention.
In truth, he really wanted to tease him a little. Relieve tension, more than anything.
"So... Turns out we're travellin' with the dead, huh?" he said nonchalantly, not looking at Law, "Ain't that a shocker... And the dumbass that decided to get immortality without thinkin' twice got the short end of the stick... That's gotta suck."
As he finished, he glanced over at Law, still smirking. He wanted to see what kind of reaction he had before laughing aloud.

The Harpy soared through the night sky, its wind turbines spinning wildly in the wind as the rockets burst to life. Stowing away the eyeglass and crude map of the islands, Law sighed a bit as he set the coordinates. Truth be told he wasn’t excited, with the raging storm and increase of Heartless, as well as the odd bat like creatures plaguing him, there were many obstacles the pirate knew he would have to face. ”But can you handle the price?” Law scratched at the back of his head, looking up towards the cloudy night sky. ”Yeah—that’s what I’ve been wondering...” Wait a second. That wasn’t his own thought. That had been a voice that had broken his concentration. Spinning around on the pilot’s deck, Law’s gun blade was already drawn and in his hand, finger on the trigger as he turned to find…nothing.
”W-what the—?!” Looking around the small raised deck, Law rushed to the banister, peering over the sides of the ship in surprise. There was nobody there. There had been a voice, though, that much he was sure of. Keeping his long gun at the ready, the pirate warily backed away from the banister until his heel tapped the steering module. ”The hell is going on?!” He was getting frustrated. There were too many weird things happening on this world. I’m never coming back here! That’s for sure! It was a bitter thought, full of spite and resentment. Lured by the tales of lost treasure and mystical seas, Law had rushed to Port Royal on a whim. How events could unravel when one didn’t think ahead. A faint whistling caused the pirate to spin around, his blue eyes falling on Neku. Had the voice been his?
The young mercenary was heading towards the pilot’s deck, though not initially paying the pirate any mind. ”So…turns out we’re travelin’ with the dead, huh?” Finally, their gaze met. As the teen finished his quips, the pirate barked a laugh, leaning over the steering wheel while sneering at the swordsman. ”You could see it that way—“ He wore a wicked grin, his gold tooth glinting despite the lack of moonlight. Heavy clouds continued to roll above them, allowing Law the guise of his usual human self. Raising a ringed finger at Neku, he grinned as he continued. ”Or you could see it this way—“ Aiming the long pistol still in his hand at his own forearm, the pirate pulled the trigger as a loud BRRAAAT filled the night sky. His arm jolted as it flung to his side from the impact.
Bullet holes littered the jacket sleeve and arm, though no blood began to pour. Law’s face didn’t even flinch. He still wore his wicked grin as the arm and coat began to seal their wounds. The magic of the Aztec Curse was working. ”—So long as the moon ain’t out, I can’t feel pain or die.” He gave another laugh as he holstered his weapon, straightening himself as he grabbed the wheel with both hands, smiling at Neku over his shoulder. ”On top o’ that, I’m pretty sure I’ll live forever—which is totally worth being an ‘Undead’ or whatever!” Laughing loudly again, Law felt the wind through his hair as they sailed. Curse can’t take that away. Sure, he couldn’t feel cold or hot, but he could still feel force enacting upon him, like gravity and air. The sky was truly the thing that stirred his being. So long as Law had that and his freedom, nothing else really mattered. He was beginning to feel a lot better about this ‘curse’.
The airship continued to sail on through the night sky, heavy with dark clouds and the distant sound of thunder. It seemed the storm continued on in the distance, exactly where they were headed.

Charlotte had not spent much time studying the shadelings, nor the other elemental spirits that came from her world. Afterall, she had been born during a time when magic was on the decline. The fact she even knew any magic at all was impressive, based on what her father said. He apparently had been around since before the Divine Tree had been burned at the end of the Arcana War. One of the tree's massive roots could even be seen back home depending on the weather. But apparently her answer didn't seem to really answer Mei's question. Charlotte frowned and was about to continue when she heard a shot from above deck. "What now?" Charlotte hissed, heading to the upper deck.
"Why're you shooting up here with nothing to shoot at?" Charlotte demanded once she was up top, and saw nothing but The Shadelings that were just hanging around. Didn't look like he had shot at one of them because they were still perched, not even the gun shot seemed to disturb them.
Meanwhile below deck, Mei would get the distinct feeling of someone watching her- or rather, a number of somethings. There were a good number of beady yellow eyes suddenly opening up from any dark nook or cranny. Perhaps something Charlotte said about cursed places also applied to cursed objects?

"Didn't need to see that!"
Neku noticeably stepped back with a mix of tease and fright after Law shot his own arm, showing no pain or not even blood pouring down. Grimacing clearly, Neku laid back a bit with the mix still writen clear in his face.
"Sheesh, we get it already..." he replied back, "You don't need to point it that way, good grief..."
Mei followed Charlotte back out to deck, letting out a sigh after knowing what had happened. Sure enough, the Shadelings were nowhere to be seen, but the sense of being watched remained. If there was one thing bothering her was that...
"If we have nothing left to discuss or debate... Should we focus on preparing?" "Ah -Mei..." "It's okay. I can keep up."

”Didn’t need to see that!” Neku’s reaction caused the pirate to laugh heartily once again, a foolish grin plastered on his face. As Charlotte and Mei emerged on deck, Law waved out a hand, steering The Harpy with his other hand as though it didn’t take a thought. The ship was practically an extension of him, at any rate. ”Why’re you shooting up here with nothing to shoot at?” Charlotte was always quick to demand, something the pirate genuinely enjoyed about her character. It seemed fitting, for a woman like her. ”Don’t sweat it, Charlotte~ Sometimes my trigger finger just itches.” He barked out another laugh as the airship soared through the skies. The clouds were growing thicker steadily, the winds beginning to pick up as they continued towards the island. It seemed they were heading towards the storm and the clear skies were coming to an end.
Luckily it wasn’t pouring any longer, the clouds simply swarmed in the sky, appearing menacing but acting docile as a whole. Still, something didn’t sit quite right in the air. While Mei and Neku began to prepare themselves, Law kept his blue eyes on the skies around them. Though their voyage had been smooth since leaving Port Royal, Law couldn’t bring himself to lower his guard. ”Alright, crew!” Law cupped a hand around his mouth to make sure Mei and Charlotte could hear. ”When we get back to the island—well, whatever’s left of the island—we’ll probably be fighting a lot of Heartless and the Captain again.” Keeping a hand on the steering wheel, Law rubbed his chin with a free hand while looking at his teammates.
The Captain had proven a powerful foe. Strax still lay bunkered up in one of the ship’s small rooms, recuperating from the one-on-one battle that had taken place. Thankfully, none of them were going to do what the werewolf had done (hopefully), making it a four-on-one battle. ”We have the advantage of numbers, but we want to avoid going toe-to-toe with him.” Charlotte had powerful ranged magic, able to soar through the sky raining destruction on their enemies, so they were set there. Mei seemed to be capable of some powerful magic as well, which would only aid them. The Harpy had its own cannon systems, but they were limited in power and there were only two on each side of the small aircraft. Looking at Neku, Law raised an eyebrow.
”Hey, Neku—you had done some pretty wild stuff back there when we were at the port. Think you could pull it off a second time?” Whatever power the kid had used back there seemed to be advantageous, as it allowed him to slice through enemies while sliding through the air. It was a powerful move, one that had saved all of them from the swarming enemies from earlier. If the young mercenary was able to pull something like that off against the Captain, Law had a good feeling about the battle ahead. If not…well—he was sure he’d think of something else.
Worst case scenario, he could always fight the Captain. After all, if the moon wasn't out, he couldn't die.

Charlotte would cross her arms and content herself with keeping watch after hearing Law's response. She didn't understand the need to just randomly fire, though it wasn't an important enough concern. Really, she enjoyed Law's unpredictable nature. Turning into a ghastly ghoul was less than ideal, however. A Shadeling seemed to be paying her some extra attention, skitting just close enough that she could try to reach out and touch it. But it was also far enough to fly away should she attempt such. Guess it was best a time as ever to try and think of what to do when they got there. She did not want to spend any more time back at this horrid place than necessary.
So if The Captain was indeed the cause of the problems affecting the town, then all they had to do was get rid of him sooner rather than later. Was it the cursed gold? Was that a secondary effect of the gold? Maybe taking a few coins was more than enough to curse you and taking all of it was enough to trigger some kind of mass summoning of heartless. If that was the case, Law wasn't going to be happy- if it were Diana, she'd have been gone after she got what she wanted.

Neku took some time to notice what Law had said, blinking at a loss. After making sense, he sheepishly looked away, in clear embarrassement. Revealing that little trick would be harder than he thought, for sure...
"Uhh... Only problem is... That wasn't all me" he admitted, "Gonna be honest with ya: I'm just a regular boy. I suck at magic, too, just for the record."
After admitting it, Neku folded his hands behind his head, and looking away. He wasn't the type to lie, but he also didn't like admitting whenever it looked like he did something but in truth, he did nothing to deserve the credit. It was that little prideful self Neku had.
Don't get me wrong, though: I'm not gonna stand back and watch. I'm goin' all out. Just... Without all that flash..."
Mei, on the other hand, listened closely and calmly. If things got too dire, she could use a little trick she'd found out about, but maybe she could avoid using it. After all, she'd be fighting with everyone else.
Sitting down near the edge, Mei looked out to the distance. She was curios to know what sort of enemy was awaiting them... And what sort of trouble they'd find, to then settle things right. Who knew if there was a Keyhole there or not? Regardless of that being a posibility, Mei wasn't sure about closing it. It was something she'd never done before, after all...

For a moment, Neku’s response caused Law’s face to fall (though only slightly) as he sighed a bit. Resting a hand on his hips, the pirate scratched at the back of his dirty blonde hair, his blue eyes looking up towards the night sky. Hm…so we can’t bank on that— He wasn’t out of ideas or hope yet, though! ”Don’t get me wrong, though: I’m not gonna stand back and watch. I’m goin’ all out. Just…without all the flash…” Neku’s response, albeit surprisingly humble for him, encouraged Law. It seemed the young Mercenary still had a heart ready to fight! As long as we have that, we’re golden~ It was the most important factor of a battle. Those with the will to fight—to live, those were the victors in battle.
Confidence surging through him, Law took note of the night sky. Dark clouds swirled more heavily together, the late gale howling over The Harpy as they sailed silently through the air. It seemed they still had a little distance to go, but they were headed in the right direction. The weather was getting worse. For once, that was a good sign for them. Chuckling at the ironic events unfolding, Law glanced over at Charlotte and Mei. The two women had powers that the pirate could rely on. Both of them had proven that. With their range firepower, his own, as well as Neku’s support, the pirate believed them able to fight at a safe distance from the Captain.
Some might think fighting an opponent from a distance as cowardly, but Law didn’t care for such trifles. Life wasn’t about pride or respect, what mattered was who lived and prospered. Grinning to himself, the pirate found his thoughts wondering once more to the ‘curse’ that had befallen him. Immortality…I’ll never die… That meant he would be the one to live and prosper, not this Captain. ”Well, team, I think we’ll be plenty ready—“ Law’s gold tooth showed with his smile. ”We’ll be cautious approaching the island—I’ll make sure to keep distance and fly around its perimeter at least once—“ He pointed to Charlotte. ”Charlotte, once I locate where the Captain is and see our surrounding threats, we’ll launch our attack.” He would start with her—she had the most firepower out of all of them.
”With the combo of my cannons and your fire, we should be able to surprise and hurt ‘im.” There was a mischievous smirk lining the pirate’s face. His finger turned from Charlotte to Mei. ”You, little lady, are an ace in the hole~” Law was not a novice to the arts of magic, despite his exterior demeanor. Though he had an affinity with certain elements and not others, the pirate had more than a basic grasp on magic and how it worked. Mei’s abilities far surpassed them all when it came to support and versatility. ”You have powerful attack and supporting magic. Save most of your energy during our initial assault—I can heal, but only so much.” He did know healing magic, but he would be busy trying to keep a safe distance from the Heartless, navigating through the storm as well as providing supporting fire.
There was a lot on his plate. Comes with being the pilot of the ship, I guess— It wasn’t a responsibility he hated, which said a lot, given his character. Turning to Neku last, his finger falling on the teen, Law’s eyes gleamed. ”You probably have the most important job of all though, Neku—“ His face turned serious, showing he meant it not as a sarcastic jibe but as a literal opinion. ”Though your range is short, your power is extreme—“ If there was one thing the pirate was good at (well, in his opinion he was good at a lot of things) it was perceiving people’s strengths and weaknesses when it came to fighting. Years of thieving, hoodlumry and battle had seasoned him, after all. ”—If anyone can keep the ship safe, it’s you. There might be swarms or more of those Towers attacking us once we get there. Can I trust you to guard our flank and sides?”
If his cannons would be focused on the Captain, there might not be enough time for them to react to Heartless attacks. He knew what he was asking of the mercenary was a lot, but it wasn’t anything the pirate didn’t think the kid could handle. Besides—Law himself couldn’t die. Worst case scenario, he just leapt in and kept the ship on autopilot. They would lose the additional firepower, but a good Captain made sure his entire crew made it out of the gig with some loot, not just themselves. Sighing a bit at his own naivety, Law waited for the responses of his team.

Charlotte was brought out of her musings when Law called her name. She would be ready to bomb the Captain once they found him. Even if her fireballs didn't immediately do the trick, they would make an opening for The Harpy's cannons to hopefully finish him off. Otherwise she'd probably have to help Neku keep boarders off the ship, because she was sure some heartless would find a way to get on. "The sooner we can leave this awful place the better," Charllote said after hearing Law's proposed plan.
And hopefully The Shadelings that were sticking around would give them an easier time of that. She was actually starting to get nosy and wonder about Mei and Neku. They definitely seemed to know eachother at the very least. Like her they were from a different world and she couldn't help but wonder what theirs was like. But there'd be time for that later after flying into the jaws of death again.

"Awww... I'm in watch duty?" Neku noticeably looked annoyed, but in a teasing way, "No fair! Y'all gonna have all the fun and nothin' for me!"
Mei, on the other hand, was dumbfound. She blinked a few times, looking at Law, before pointing to herself in confusion. Was he... Counting on her? Sure, she was used to supporting instead of fighting head on, but... Having someone she wasn't really used to just yet count on her was an odd feeling indeed.
"You... Want me to go along?" Mei asked, still confused, "Umm... I'm not sure if I should... If anything, I'd say Neku would be best off fighting with you, and keep me here for watch..." "Hey, whatever happened to that tough act?" Neku asked with a smirk, "You can take it no problem. Why you backin' off now?" "I'm not! It's just..." "Haa... Seriously..." Neku sighed, and then proceeded to rub Mei's hair somewhat forcefuly, "Whenever you wanna be, you're humble as hell..." "Neku...!"
Neku shoved Mei's hair a bit more before dropping it, not before leaving it a mess of fluff and a bit of static. Mei puffed her cheeks, bitter, but Neku simply raised his chin and smirked. He liked teasing like that, after all... And knowing there was no room for arguing, Mei simply left him alone, while she focused on getting her hair back in place.
After a bit, Neku looked back at Law, dead serious. He had something important to ask of him, if he wanted Mei to join along his assault. Walking towards him, and grabbing his ear to whisper to it, Neku said something with his voice cold as ice.
"Something happens to her, and I'm taking it on you -no questions asked or room for explanation. Got it?" he said, "You might be undead, but I'll be dammed if I let you scot-free if Mei gets hurt or worse... I'll drag your sorry ass to broad moonlight if I have to. You'd be surprised as for how easy it'd be to face you head on like that... I ain't scared of some pirate with a gun, trust me..." he finished with a cold smirk.
He then quickly loosened his grip and jumped back to his place, much for Mei's curiosity. But after simply dismissing it as a "crew talk", Mei simply nodded in understanding.
