(Cue Lazy Afternoons) It was a beautiful sunset in the town of Twilight. It was a sight that Jolie absolutely loved to behold. She would often come to Twilight Town, go up on Sunset Hill and get lost in the scenery of orange, red, purple and yellow. It was how she would ease her mind. Since it's a sunset at literally every point of the day, she would often just take a Gummi shuttle and visit whenever she had the chance. This day was different, she is now officially a resident. She brought her goddaughter and got a small home on the Terrace. Jolie and Umbriella decided to celebrate by eating ice cream upon the Sunset Hill. After the ice cream was gone, Umbriella turned to Jolie and said, “ Aunt Jo, can I go to the Sandlot?” She smiled, “ Of course, dear. Make sure you keep your Gummi Phone on with the volume up.” Umbriella jumped in excitement and kissed Jo on the cheek. “ Also, be home by elev—” “Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know” She already had run almost out of Jo’s sight. She closed her brown eyes and shook her head and decided to keep watching the sunset. She just couldn’t get enough of it. It was just her alone on the hill, it was peaceful, tranquil and—Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! (Cue Tension Rising) Three Dusks appear. It happens sometimes, but Jolie was a bit annoyed at the timing. It was as if Nobobies were a housewarming gift. She jumped to her feet, and pulled her light prism out of her pocket. The prism extended into a clear saber. “ Welcome to Twilight Town,” she muttered as she readied herself into battle.

Greeted by blends of orange and pink horizon, Law raised a hand to shelter his eyes from the setting sun. Though gorgeous, the light was harsh after the vastness of Gummi Space. The Harpy cracked the skyline of Twilight Town, arriving silently through the air as it cast its small shadow over the areas it flew past. Below him was a small town, made of mostly brick buildings by the looks of it, surrounded by lush greenery for miles on end. It seemed isolated, quiet and low-key. Everything Law was looking for. Sighing in relief, the pirate aimed his airship for the largest structure—the clock tower. Having narrowly avoided failure, he was eager to relax and reap the benefits of all his hard work.
Darkness. Blotching sea. Cracking thunder. Piercing moonlight. Devoured hearts.
The sudden memory caused Law to shiver, though his ‘new’ self was incapable of feeling cold. Ignoring the nagging thoughts, Law docked his airship level with the Clock Tower, allowing the pirate to exit the ship and walk onto the ledge on the right-side of the clock face. Rounding the corner, his gait balanced and steady, Law smiled widely at the scenery that greeted him. The small town certainly looked vibrant, with its brick buildings and terrace in the distance. Beyond, Law could faintly make out a raising hill with train tracks—though it was hard to see due to a much newer-looking impossibly tall building. ”It’s perfect!” The pirate laughed aloud as he rested his hands on his hips, pleased with himself.
Glee was tempered by an all too familiar feeling. A staleness in the air. Whoosh! Whoosh! Woosh! The pirate’s crystal blue gaze fell upon the courtyard beneath him. Standing on the ledge directly in front of the clock by now, Law had a great vantage point to spot the three Dusks that appeared. Those things are here?! Law had seen enemies like these on another world…Nobodies. Tch—Just as bad as Heartless! Another movement caught his eye, a woman by the looks of it, leaping to their feet and getting into a battle stance—wait, were they unarmed? It almost looked like they were holding something…
Not taking too much time to reflect, Law leapt from the Clock Tower, pulling out the long gun holstered on his thigh. BRRRRRAAAAPPP! A burst of bullets aimed for each enemy as the pirate plummeted towards the Train Station steps. Casting an Aerora spell, Law’s fall was cushioned by a powerful gust of wind, allowing him to land at the foot of the steps safely. So—this world isn’t safe, either. Here he had thought he had gotten lucky. Snap! The long gun in his hand suddenly unfolded into a dark sword. Hoping to have gotten the Dusks attention, Law ran towards the woman, hoping to have stalled the Nobodies long enough for him to reach her side. Getting closer, the pirate had noticed the near invisible sword the woman seemed to be wielding. "Oi, you know how to handle these ?" Readying himself in a battle stance, Law stood next to Jo, facing off the Dusk together. Whoever she was, she wasn't just a normal bystander. That much, at least, was a relief.
Nobodies and Heartless...normal schmucks couldn't fight 'em well, after all.

Before Jolie could swing her Sun Catcher sword at any enemy, the three Dusks were staggered by a few bullets that seemed to rain from the sky. It didn’t quite kill them, but they were definitely damaged. Before she could see where the bullets flew from, a tall, blond in a decorated leather jacket with what seemed to be a powerful gun. He’d asked if she could handle them, “Oh, could I ever?” she playfully smirked at him, as she quickly held her blade to the sun on the horizon and a rainbow shone through and only the violet light seemed to absorb into her skin. Then, suddenly, her physique instantly slimmed, and her sword extended into a long rapier. Her brown eyes began to glow a deep purple in their place. She charged her blade at the Dusk directly in front of her. She quickly dispatched it with a two-hit combo. Sure, it was easy because the dude had already damaged them, but she still liked to show off. Then, she zipped to the second one and speedily triple slashed it before it also dissolved into oblivion. Jo, then, yelled, “Thunder! before a Thundaga spell struck downward upon the remaining Nobody. It was overkill but she wanted to display her skills.
She turned to the man and flipped her hair, “Thank you for the help, but I think I got this.” Jo wasn’t usually arrogant. She just liked to show off to impress male fighters, to show she’s not just a damsel in distress. Plus, he wasn’t hard on the eyes, either. As she was busy boasting, she failed to notice more Nobodies appearing. Behind her, up came 3 more Dusks, 4 Creepers and 1 Berserker. The Berserker quickly lifted its claymore to make a fierce slap on Jo from behind.

”Oh, could I ever?” The smug tone didn’t elude him, causing Law to smirk as the woman suddenly began to radiate power—disposing of multiple Nobodies quickly. ”Ha! Oh—you’re a strong one, alright!” Laughing heartily, Law watched as Jo vanquished all of the Dusks in the square. ”Thank you for the help, but I think I got this.” The woman’s bravado was certainly an admirable trait, though Law was a bit more aware than most gave him credit for. Though her feats were impressive, Jo’s boasting had caused her to be left wide open. ”Do you, now?” Law smirked as he used his Vortex ability to close the distance between him and the Berserker attacking Jo. He was a blurring streak that gusted past. CLANG! Spinning in a furious flourish, Law’s dark blade clashed against the Nobodies massive weapon—surprisingly holding its own against it. Aware of the other Nobodies gathering around, the pirate grimaced as he unleashed his Slapshot technique—a flurry of blows unleashing upon the Berserker. Maintaining his footing while glancing at Jo over his shoulder, the pirate laughed once more. ”The name’s Law—who’re you?” Combat was as good a time as any for introductions, after all.

Jolie’s faced was flushed with red out of embarrassment, as she’d noticed that the blond fighter quickly attacked the Berserker behind her. She knew that she screwed up once he said, “Do you now?” He definitely knew she was showing off. He seemed to be playful about it, in fact, he appeared to be brandishing his skills just as much. She put her back against his, and he introduced himself as Law. Her head turned behind her a bit, “My name is Jolie, but my friends call me ‘Jo’” She charged with a five-hit combo at one of the creepers, dissipating it, before jumping straight at another with another speed combo. She jumped back to the middle, and turned her head back, “You don’t seem like you are from this world. You’re definitely a Gummi pilot. ” She ran a quick swipe at a Dusk. “What brings you to the Twilight Town, I’m sure you’re not here to see the Struggle tournaments”

”My name is Jolie, but my friends call me ‘Jo’.” Despite the clanging sounds of battle, Law heard Jo’s introduction fine as he leapt away from the Berserker. It wasn’t smart to stay toe-to-toe with those one’s for too long, after all. While Jo took out some of the surrounding Nobodies, Law decided to focus on the big one. The Dusks could wait. Ducking out of the way of the furious slashing of the large Claymore, the pirate suddenly glowed with a faint magenta hue. Suddenly, the man was behind the Nobody, his dark Gunblade glinting in the eternally setting sun as the faint hue around Law began to fade. His Zantetsuken ability left no trace other than a bright pink line that divided the Berserker vertically.
”You don’t seem like you are from this world. You’re definitely a Gummi Pilot.” Law wouldn’t correct Jo’s assumption—it was typically best on worlds like these to not mention his real ‘occupation’. Grinning as he watched the woman vanquish more of the Nobodies, Law tapped his nose lightly. ”Ah—spot on. You’re sharp, Jo~” Laughing heartily, the man aimed his sword in the air as he concentrated on summoning his magic. ”Thundaga!” Powerful streaks of lightning fell upon the brick and stone courtyard, pummeling and burrowing into the ground with ferocity. A sporadic yet powerful spell, Law had relied on the raging storm time and time again.
”What brings you to Twilight Town, I’m sure you’re not here to see the Struggle tournaments.” At this comment, Law raised an eyebrow. Struggle? He had never heard of such a thing. Luckily, he now had a name for the world he had found himself in. It also seemed like the locals were used to travelers, to say the least, based on Jo's reaction to his sudden entrance. Shaking his head a bit, Law transformed his weapon back into its long gun form, if any enemies remained he would help cover Jo. ”You could say I’m just…sight-seeing.” With a grin, the man left his answer vague, though not untruthful. He was here to relax, after all. Unfortunately, it seemed this world was plagued with the pests he hated.
”Though it seems this may be a more lively world than I expected…”

She was thoroughly impressed with how Law had dispatched that Berserker. She was able to defeat Berserkers. However, she hated fighting one because if she wasn’t quick to defeat it, its counterattacks can get pretty gnarly. She wanted to know how he did that ability that made it seemingly warp out of existence. Wow, his fighting is really impressive, he must be a pretty seasoned hero. He’s also quite a looker. Not to mention, his accent is pretty cute—No! Stop that, She chided herself, Now’s not the time for a schoolgirl crush. This is mid combat. Plus, he’s a traveler, and probably doesn’t have time for antics of the sort. Frankly, neither do I, between my new job, raising Umbriella, and clearing Heartless and Nobodies. She, then, got a look at the Thundaga spell he did, it was similar to hers, which got her wondering if spells are universal or relative to the caster. Thwack!!
A Dusk whacked as she was too busy paying attention to Law’s combat. Her face reddened again. However, she wasn’t staggered for more than half a second. She turned back at the Nobody and a sharp beam of light shone from her sword. The light acted as if it were a golden pole that extended right through the Dusk, dismembering it from the abdomen out. Focus, Jo. Then, she heard him talking about being there for sightseeing. As she took quick, sharp jabs at the remaining Nobodies. Then, she got this sudden rush, probably from the violet light within her. A purple aura radiated from her, as she quickly made many piercing slashes. One. Two. Three. A combo quickly made waste of one Creeper, directly in front of her. Four swings, Five closed the distance between her and the last Creeper. Six. Seven. Eight. Nine. It dissipated into a few bubbles. Ten, Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen, Fourteen, Fifteen The last Dusk bumbled toward her, before she delivered the kill. Sixteen Her violet aura instantly faded, as did her eye color back to brown. Her sword shaped back into a triangular prism. She leaned forward a bit with her hand on her thigh, fatigued from using her light. She turned to Law. “Well, I’m a new resident, myself, but I know quite a few attractions and there’s a bistro on Market Street. My goddaughter is off somewhere making friends. Perhaps, I could show you around?” She extended her hand, since they never quite got the moment to shake hands. “Oh. and it’s nice to meet you”

Ruined smolder was what the courtyard had become—smoke drifting up from where lightning had struck. ”Yer back!” Aiming his gun, Law cursed as he saw a Dusk loom out from the smoke towards Jo. Thwack!! The woman had left herself open, though the attack only staggered them, to which Law felt relief. He wasn’t trying to have someone go down the moment they met—that’d just set his whole vacation off on a bad note. Recovering rather quickly, showing Law she was hardly 'new' to this, Jo delivered an unforgiving series of blows against the Nobodies, soon destroying all the enemies that remained. ”W-woah…” The pirate faltered for only a moment at seeing the woman’s appearance and energy change completely as she became wrath and ruin.
”Impressive~” Whistling a bit as Jo reverted back to her normal form, Law holstered his odd weapon in the fixture on his hip. It seemed whatever power Jo had used had drained her, as she leaned forward in fatigue. ”Well, I’m a new resident myself, but I know quite a few attractions…” The way she talked hardly hinted towards the fatigue she showed, though Law was sure she was feeling the hit from earlier. Raising a hand, the pirate summoned forth yet another surge of magic as a green light radiated around Jo. Casting his Curaga spell, an impossibly large magical blossom appeared around both Jo and Law, petals falling as though they stood in a forest as their bodies and minds were soothed by the powerful healing magic.
”There’s a bistro on Market Street. My goddaughter is off somewhere making friends. Perhaps, I could show you around?” At the mention of the bistro, Law found himself looking away, a sour taste filling his mouth. ”Oh, and it’s nice to meet you.” Suddenly Jo was offering a hand, causing the pirate to blink in surprise as he reached out and shook it. He wasn’t used to such formal greetings. ”Er…yeah—you too.” Rubbing the back of his neck a bit, Law glanced back towards the setting sun. Twilight Town, eh? He had heard tales of a world in perpetual sunset, but never had gotten a name. Such a world was more than convenient, given his new state. A grin fiddled and morphed his lips as he looked back at Jo.
”Yeah, I’d appreciate getting a tour of the sights…” Something felt off though. Normally on worlds, when Heartless or Nobodies were around it typically meant something was going on. Jo was acting as though it were a normal every day occurrence, but apparently the world was lively with a Market Street and a bistro? ”Uh…Jo, what’s the deal with this world? Are there normally Nobodies crawling around?” Before getting too invested in the location, Law figured he might as well learn what he’d be dealing with. If the world was more trouble than it was worth—he’d be back on The Harpy, finding a different hiding place to rest his bones.

(Cue Laughter and Merriment) Jo suddenly felt reinvigorated by Law’s Curaga spell. “Thank you,” She said as she stood back upright. “Well, the Nobodies don’t usually appear near the train station. They usually only appear in the underground pathways. Another place, where they would be a bit a nuisance is around the mansion outside of town.” She motioned for Law to come with her, as she began to walk down the Station Heights, which was a very steep hill that seemed like it would be fun to skateboard on. “So, Law.” She glanced at him, noticing his rugged facial features and her eyes moved to his holster, “What is that weapon you have? I’ve never seen it before. Is it a Keyblade?” She was interested in knowing if it were a Keyblade that could transform. She’s still in the process of trying to regain hers, with no luck, thus far. Perhaps, he may know something.

Hearing about how the Nobody’s appearance around the ‘Train Station’ (Law hadn’t really been sure about exactly what the large building was), the pirate tilted his head a bit in thought. Hm…if it’s unusual…could it be something happening like last time? A sinking feeling pitted his stomach, causing his face to sour. Port Royal had been a nightmare, not one he was wanting to relive. It seemed they were most active around some mansion on the world, though Law wondered why Nobodies would be attracted to such a building. As Jo began to move from the courtyard, Law followed her cue and kept pace as they headed down a steep hill. The roads were cobblestone and clean, the buildings creating a nice shade that only accented the sunset. Law found himself appreciating the sky in this world often—something he was low-key delighted about.
”So, Law. What is that weapon you have?” Jo’s question caused the man’s hand to absent-mindedly rest on the weapon, his gaze remaining fixated on a moving cloud. ”I’ve never seen it before. Is it a Keyblade?” At mention of the word ‘Keyblade’, Law blinked, shifting his gaze from the clouds to Jo once more. His expression revealed his apparent confusion. ”Keyblade? Wha—? No, this is a gunblade.” Patting the weapon holstered to his thigh, the pirate removed his hand from the weapon, resting it at his side. Keyblade? He had never heard of the thing. It wasn’t too surprising though, what with how many worlds there were. Maybe it’s something on this world… Choosing to stick to the topics he knew, Law decided to answer Jo’s question as they walked.
”It’s a gun, or a sword—whatever I need at the time.” Sure, it didn’t really explain how the weapon worked, but the pirate really didn’t know much about it other than basic maintenance and the person that he acquired it from. Glancing over at Jo, he grinned a bit while raising an eyebrow. ”Speakin’ o’ which—you had a pretty weird sword, too.” When he had first seen Jo, he had thought she was fighting bare handed. Though it would have been a sight to see, the pirate had been relieved at finding the woman armed.
”What’s up with your blade?”

Even though, she was disappointed that Law wasn’t a Keyblade wielder, she was very much interested in his gunblade. A gun and blade that can switch back and forth, that was very fascinating. She wanted to know more, but she didn’t want to pry, as he asked her what her blade was. She, herself, couldn’t exactly explain what it was, but she tried her best to oblige, “Well, umm... It’s a light prism that can transform into a weapon. The light that shines through the prism gives me a rush of power. What kind of power depends on the what color I choose to absorb. Earlier, I had absorbed the color violet, it was the shortest wave of light, therefore it gave me a boost in speed. Red, on the other hand, would make me slow, but will give me great strength. In fact, I’d be stronger than most guys. So, don’t piss me off.” she looked over to him playfully and lightly pushed him. “I noticed that you seemed to be an experienced fighter, and you have some impressive skills. Where did you come from? If you don’t mind me asking.” She gazed at him, she wanted to hear him talk. She absolutely loved his voice, it wasn’t an accent she heard often.

While Jo began to explain exactly what her weapon was, Law blinked and gave them a slightly baffled expression. Huh…so they’re a White Mage? Seemingly bending light to their will, harnessing its powers as well as forming it into a weapon, the pirate could only assume the woman was a powerful wizard. Explaining how different colors of light shining through their prism tapped into other powers, Law began to wonder about the object itself. Is it made of light, too? How could someone hold such a thing? Could White Mages not only control light, but harness and touch it as well? Law’s thoughts were shook from him as he was suddenly pushed mid-gait.
”I noticed you seemed to be an experienced fighter, and you have some impressive skills. Where did you come from?” Regaining himself with a hearty laugh, the pirate swept a hand through his blonde hair as he gazed around the town. They had walked down the cobblestone road, leading into a small plaza beneath a raised platform with a set of stairs. There seemed to be two small shops in the plaza, built into the corner of two brick and cobblestone buildings that sheltered them from the rays of the setting sun.
”Nowhere special—“ The pirate’s gaze seemed distant as he looked over the plaza from the top of the stairs. ”It was just some nameless world, I haven’t been back in years. Don’t know if it's still there, really.” For a moment, the pirate’s bright blue eyes blinked as a ray of light pierced his vision after shifting his weight. Raising a hand for shelter, the pirate almost seemed to flinch as he squinted. Tch—damn thing has me on edge… Typically, as of very recently, the setting sun was an ominous omen for Law. It was weird, being on a world where it wouldn’t actually set—exposing him for what he was.
Looking back over at Jo, the pirate grinned a bit as he waved off the question. ”’Sides, I’ve been to way better worlds since then!” There was a glint of excitement in his gaze, his grin widening to expose the golden tooth that shone dimly. ”How ‘bout you?” Raising an eyebrow, Law waited at the top of the steps, not really knowing where to go from here. Waiting for Jo to lead the way, he crossed his arms while tilting his head a bit at her.
”Yer new in town, yeah? Where're you from?”

Jo noticed that he didn’t want to talk much about where he came from. She wanted to press him, because she wanted to know. However, she smiled as she chose to ignore it, as Law moved on and turned the question to her. She initially grimaced as she thought of her home world, which was taken over by the Heartless. She, then, smiled to try to cover up the fact that it made her uncomfortable, “ I come from a world called ‘Radiant Garden’, but now it’s ‘Hollow Bastion’ ” she started to look down in shame, because thinking about the world made her think about what she had done to Katherine. Then, she quickly looked back up, “ I’m sorry, I-i just need to forget that place. It was all destroyed and I lost someone to the darkness.” she didn’t mean to keep sharing, but it just kept coming out like verbal diarrhea. It made her more and more uneasy talking about her world, as it made her think of the dark times. Her anxiety started to rise, “Actually, I can’t talk about it.”
Crash! Big thud that came from the Sandlot, accompanied by screams. A little man in what looked like a witch’s hat ran toward Jo and Law, “Run! There’s a giant dark tornado of black monsters in the sandlot attacking everyone! Someone, get Seifer!!” Jo quickly looked at Law with a pale look of terror upon her face, “Umbriella’s in there, I need to save her!!” She, then, bolted towards the chaos.

”I come from a world called ‘Radiant Garden’, but now it’s ‘Hollow Bastion’…” The look that came across Jo’s faced caught Law off-guard. It was a look he had seen on himself too many times in the past. ”I’m sorry, I-I just need to forget that place.” At the mention of the world’s destruction and the loss of a loved one, Law fell silent as he gazed up towards the pink and orange sky that hung above. As Jo began to seemingly spiral in the destructive and dark memories, Law felt himself at a loss for words, yet wanted to offer some form of reassurance. No— What could he do? Say his world was destroyed, too? That’d just make us both depressed… Shit, he was already starting to feel bummed out.
CRASH! The sudden ‘thud’ caused the pirate to jolt back into his surroundings. ”The hell?!” Screams followed, echoing in the faint distance as a little man in a crumpled blue hat ran into the small plaza the two stood in. ”Run! There’s a giant dark tornado of black monsters in the sandlot attacking everyone!” The small wizard seemed to be terrified, their whole body shaking as they moved and hollered. Dark tornadoes? Memories flooded his mind—of the twisting storms of Heartless he had witnessed at Port Royal. Could it be the same things?! Damn it, he was just trying to enjoy a vacation!
”Umbriella’s in there, I need to save her!” Jo’s face was one of terror—sweat beading on her pale face as her eyes widened. As the woman began to bolt, Law recalled her mentioning something about a ‘goddaughter’. Sighing a bit as he ran a hand through his hair, Law watched as Jo ran towards the direction of this ‘sandlot’. For a moment, his face was blank with bewilderment. Save her…? The stunned expression on his face lasted only a moment before the pirate growled and began to run after Jo. ”Tch—damn it!” It wasn’t in him. Despite the fact that this world seemed to be a mess, Law couldn’t make himself run towards the direction of the ship.
Robbing and fighting were fun—but there was nothing fun about abandoning someone to a terrifying enemy. Even a pirate wasn’t so cold-blooded. If it’s those, though… The enemies he had come across on Port Royal were terrifying—winding masses of Heartless flying through the air. He had only been able to deal with them with the help of his crew and The Harpy’s cannons. What was he going to do on foot? Oh, right! He had nearly forgotten! There was no way he'd lose on a world like this! This world was his trump card for fighting, as the moon would never rise here. A surge of confidence went through the pirate as his boots thudded against the cobblestone he ran on, hardly any panting or sweating occurring despite the speed.
On this world, Law was truly immortal.

(Cue Wave of Darkness) Upon entering the Sandlot, there was pandemonium. People running over top of one another. Benches were broken, trash bins were smashed and the lamp posts were broken in two. In the middle of this madness, was a giant whirlwind of Shadow Heartless combined into one entity. Jolie has never seen anything like it, she was terrified. Despite scanning, she couldn’t find her goddaughter anywhere. Then, she heard, “Auntie Jo, help!!” the voice came within the dark typhoon of Shadows. The teenage girl that was Umbriella was being carried by the Demon Tide. “Umbriella!! I’ll save you!” as confident as she sounded, she had no idea how. However, she had to do her best. She took out her crystal weapon, and a red light activated upon it. The red absorbed through both her and the sword, making her muscles beefier and her weapon into a translucent, red-tinted saber. She jumped at the Tide. The saber made contact with the Heartless, but the force of the darkness pushed her back. She flew backwards into a trash bin. “Not today” she looked over for her new friend, she knew this couldn’t possibly be a solo effort “ Law? I think I’ll need your help. Maybe we could take it down, together. Have you faced one of these before?”

It wasn’t until standing in the Sandlot that Law remembered his newfound immortality did nothing to prevent his heart from getting taken. Swirling through the air like a snake, the mass of Shadow Heartless cast a dark shade over most of the Sandlot, only adding to the ruined atmosphere around it. For a moment, the pirate stood still, his hand hovering over his holstered weapon as his eyes remained unblinking on the demon before it. Shit—on the ground… These things were…kinda terrifying. Is that really how big they were?! Why did they seem so much smaller in the sky?! ”Umbriella! I’ll save you!” Jo’s voice snapped Law out of his momentary daze.
Launching forward in a powerful attack, Jo seemed to radiate with a red light as her body changed and grew stronger. Her transformation did little to help prevent her flying through the air, crashing loudly into a trash bin. ”Law? I think I’ll need your help.” Already the pirate had withdrew his gunblade, keeping it in its long pistol form as he rushed toward Jo. ”Maybe we could take it down, together. Have you faced one of these before?” As he reached her side, Law took aim of the large snaking demon and provided cover, a loud BRRRAPPP! escaping the barrel of his weapon.
He knew the bullets wouldn’t be very effective, if at all. It was merely a shot to buy time. ”Yeah—they’re the worst.” Flipping his gunblade into its sword-mode, Law aimed his blade at Jo while summoning his magic. ”Aerora!” A gust of wind suddenly surrounded her, creating a moderately powerful barrier. ”This should help you fend off some of those hits—but we won’t be able to finish it off with our power alone.” Readying himself into a battle position, Law grimaced as he eyed up their opponent. ”I’ll summon my ship—those upgraded cannons pack a punch, even if they’re small.” Turning to Jo with a serious look on his face, Law pointed at the snaking Heartless mass.
He had noticed why Jo rushed forward without really thinking. ”Before I try to blast it to bits—we need to get your goddaughter out of there.” Gripping his blade with both hands, Law began to rush forward towards the Demon Tide as he yelled the rest of his plan to Jo. ”We need to slash it open and grab her, then we can try to destroy it!” He didn’t want to risk the firepower of his cannons while she was inside the thing. But how long can she last…? The thought weighed heavily on the pirate as he summoned his strength. ”Zaaan—tetsuken!” The pirate was suddenly a blur of motion as he sliced at the Demon Tide with one of his most powerful attacks.
The strain it put on his body didn’t effect him anymore, after all.

Jolie realized that she had a rude awakening. This wasn’t a save a little boy from a Dusk or clearing a few Soldiers. No, this was much different. Her strength, while vast, wasn’t enough to truly damage it. Infrared wasn’t going to cut it. She was actually terrified. How long was Umbriella going to survive in the Demon Tide’s grasp? She knew she had to save her. She had to figure out how she could keep up with the damn thing. Luckily, Law was somewhat knowledgeable about it and he didn’t show any signs of giving up. That’s the kind of spirit she needed. He had informed her that he could summon his ship, but not before casting Aerora upon her. “Thank you!” She, then, grabbed her saber and focused another color into it, violet. Her body turned slender and her burly sword extended and slimmed into a rapier. “We need to slash it open and grab her, so we can destroy it” She heard him say, as she nodded. Then, he used a Zantetsuken move upon it. It seemed to be a very powerful move and she needed more power at a faster rate. Then, Jo turned to him, and casted a spell upon both Law and herself, “Hastega!” a clock appeared above each of them with rapidly spinning hands. The worried aunt suddenly, felt a rush of energy course through her. “This oughta help. Especially, since this thing is fast” She looked at Law’s Gunblade, and had an idea. “I have a plan, I’m going to let it grab me, and when, it does, I want you shoot bullets at me” Jo jumped and followed up with a doubleflight. She knew that this was, possibly, a foolish plan. She knew that this could be something that could endanger herself and leave Law, by himself, to defend the residents. However, she felt as if this could possibly turn the tides. It was basically a Hail Mary. Then, she proceeded to dive into the head of the Demon Tide. “Now!”

Law grit his teeth as he emerged on the other side of the Sandlot, finishing his Zantetsuken. It hadn’t seemed to do as much damage as he had hoped, as the large Demon Tide continued to snake through the air and weaved above them. ”Hastega!” Jo’s spell imbued Law with a sudden energy he didn’t know he had. ”I have a plan,” Remaining in a battle position, Law quickly made his way back to Jo as she began to explain her idea to him. For a moment, the pirate couldn’t believe what he was hearing. She wants me to…shoot her? What kind of plan was that? Even if she had his power of immortality, what good would shooting his own do? ”Listen, Jo—“ It was too late, especially with the Hastega spell active. Jo had already jumped into the fray once more, readying herself to enact the plan Law found foolish.
Damned woman! Groaning a bit, Law flipped his gunblade back into its ‘gun’ mode. As Jo dived for the head of the Demon Tide, her shout echoed across the sandlot, followed by a cracking BRRRRAPPPP! from the semi-automatic weapon firing off in Law’s hand. He had aimed directly for her, as she had told him to. As the bullets left the barrel of his gun, the pirate stood with anticipation that caused a cold sweat to break out on his false flesh. ”THIS BETTER WORK, LUNATIC!” It was the only way he knew how to encourage someone he was worried about while also being insanely over it.

As the crazy heroine was diving into the head, she realized that she had to focus. She let the damn thing grab her, instead of attacking. The darkness enveloped her body, until only the eyes on her face were visible. It was definitely a come-to-gods moment, she knew this could possibly end in oblivion. Please, let this work. She thought you herself. She knew that she was a lunatic, so it was no surprise that Law would call her one. She took the whole situation in, as she watched the bullets fly toward her in slow motion. Timing was everything. She’d gotten the position right. The bullets whizzed towards her, Jo’s heart pounded faster and continued to pick up speed. The projectiles started get within arm’s length. The shadows began to completely cover her eyes. She couldn’t see, but the clock was now in her head, she knew the right moment. She began to feel the wind off of Law’s bullets, almost, as if they were about to penetrate her skin. The moment of truth.
“REFLEJA!”
Just as the bullets were within millimeters of her body, a clear circular barrier extended out from her body pushing Law’s ammo into multiple directions away from herself. The bullets pierced through the Demon Tide all the way around her. She emerged from the Heartless. While, it didn’t destroy it, the tide was scattered, from being riddled by the attack. She jumped down, back next to Law. “It’s dispersed, but I can’t find her, do you see her?” she asked with much worry, in spite of the success of the strike.

It was as though everything happened in slow motion. Gritting his teeth all the while, Law had watched in slight awe as Jo’s spell went off—her shout seeming faint in his ears as he watched part of the Demon Tide burst. As multiple smaller Heartless broke apart from it, fading back into the darkness they were made from, Law wiped the sweat from his brow as he sighed in relief. ”It’s dispersed, but I can’t find her, do you see her?” Blinking in surprise, Law looked next to him to find Jo, frantic and worried despite the success of the attack. The reality of the situation was making this grow more and more grim.
”Shit—“ His blue eyes were watching the Demon Tide with a new fervor, his trigger finger itching as he glimpsed for any sign of something besides darkness within. So many eyes… The countless yellow orbs were piercing him with their gaze, hungry and despondent. Wait—! For a moment, the pirate swore he had seen something other than yellow and black. Without saying much else, Law was rushing forward, his gunblade cracking the air like thunder with its echoing fire. BRRRRAAAAAPPPP! Aiming for the spot just above where he had glimpsed something—Law was hoping to blast open a spot for him to leap through.
Immortal. Immortal. Immortal. He was repeating it in his head, for courage—trying not to think about how it meant nothing against the ability to wretch hearts from others. Tch—they won’t get it that easily! He didn’t care how terrifying these Demon Tide’s seemed—they were made from Shadows! The weakest of the Heartless! Right?! What kinda pirate loses to small fry like that! With renewed courage and energy, Law rushed forward to the Demon Tide—leaping for the wound he had hopefully crafted in order to reach in.
