Smiling with a sense of accomplishment, Alice gave herself kudos in her head. Doing that had taken effort, but it was all worth it —Kujo had to be aware of things, just like the rest. She giggled a bit after hearing his voice becoming a faint whisper —something she wouldn’t have expected at all from a person like him, but it was amusing and warming in its own way.
She perked up as she felt Kujo returning the embrace, having not expected it at first. Yet the sensation didn’t feel wrong —in fact, it felt fitting. Even if his following words were gruff just like his usual attitude, Alice knew the impact her own actions had done.
It felt nice to apologize, even if it was over something as petty as just opening up, or showcasing her true colors. The moments after were sweet enough to overcome the prior bitterness —something the girl knew how to appreciate.
She felt him move, letting go after realizing the moment had gone for a bit too long. The sudden gestures had caught her off-guard, although her prior blush hadn’t left just yet, instead of embarrassment it was something else. She blinked a few times, waiting on the silence that followed his sigh and exasperation.
”Guess this is being on a ‘team’, huh?” Alice blinked a bit more, before giggling with a bright smile. She pulled herself back as she did so, sitting besides him yet never looking away.
“Yeah” Alice nodded, calmly, “Team means trusting one another, regardless of what happens. Being there for the others whenever they need help… And being just as open to receiving that help yourself” she defined, “Although…” Alice’s smile turned to an uneasy one yet again, “I… Guess you haven’t had that happen around you often, huh? From your reactions alone, you’re giving off that vibe…”
She giggled a bit more, not really meaning to tease him. Even if it was an embarrassing moment, it felt right. So what if Kujo didn’t want any apologies? They didn’t need to be said to get the thought across —if not spoken, Jack would just jump back up and show Kujo his worth. She knew her brother better than anyone, after all.
“…I’m glad you’re on the team” Alice said, standing up with a smile, “Because it means we all get to learn in order to improve” the girl placed her hands behind her, still a faint blush creeping through her cheeks, “Y’know… Learning means growing up as a person. Even though you don’t deem it worthy… The impact you make on people also changes you. I think I’ve learnt that thanks to you” she finished with a smile.
“So… I’ll give it my all!” Alice shouted, eager, “I’m hoping that… Eventually, I’ll be able to open myself to that which I’m not fond of… So… I’m looking forward to it. I’m just…” the girl returned back to her embarrassed self, “I’m hoping you’ll be there to cheer me on, though —just like M’Lyn and Jack. The same way I’ll be cheering you all on, and watching your backs.”

As Alice pulled back and took a seat beside him, Kujo let out a faint sigh of mild relief. ”Team means trusting one another, regardless of what happens.” The idea brought a faint grimace to his face—this was really the first ‘team’ he’d been a part of since…well, a long time. Trust, huh? Come to think of it, had he been trusting Jack? Alice? M’Lyn? He certainly was never ‘open’—though he was always honest. ”Guess you haven’t had that happen around you often, huh?” Despite his mild look of exasperation, the girls giggle brought a sigh out of him as he shook his head with the faintest hint of a smirk. ”I’m glad you’re on the team.” Was that a glint of humor in his eyes?
It had only lasted the briefest moment, but surely it had been there.
As Alice stood and thanked him once more for teaching her something, the man couldn’t help but scratch at his head a bit with a raised brow. Tch—not like I did much. What was she talking about? ”So…I’ll give it my all!” Her confidence only lasted for a moment before her usual demeanor returned, something which only brought a small smirk to Kujo’s face. ”Heh—knock yourself out.” Standing up himself, he looked down at the girl with a somewhat amused look on his face. ”If you’re that motivated, I don’t have much of a choice, do I?” It seemed he’d have to cheer her on, from now on. Teamwork, huh? It was an odd concept to him—though he found himself not wholly against it.
Nothing but trouble… Despite the thought, there was still a faint smirk on the otherwise stoic and serious man’s face—betraying the fact that perhaps the ‘trouble’ he’d been finding lately wasn’t the worst trouble to be in.

Alice remained still as Kujo stood up and encouraged her his way —but it was more than enough. She smiled, her face still somewhat red due to everything, but far more upbeat than before. The smirk in his face was already unusual, but it was enough to know where his intentions lied.
With the words now close to her heart, the girl nodded.
“Then… I’ll be going back to the Bridge” Alice said, looking up with a new confidence, “If you need anything, just… Let me know, okay?”
The girl gave another warm smile, before turning and making her way out, but she stopped a bit in her tracks. There was still something she needed to tell him —although she’d partially already said it. Half-way, she turned back, her hands clutched to her chest.
“Umm… I know it might be selfish, but… Can we… Keep our pasts to ourselves a little longer?” she asked, “It’s mostly because it’ll be a topic for fighting rather than getting along… I know you’re trying to figure something out through my past and Jack’s, but… I’m still not so sure I can tell you everything yet…”
She shuddered a bit, but didn’t look away for a second as she made her request. Taking a deep breath, the girl would head to the Bridge once she’d gotten her answer, with her heart at ease. Who would’ve thought that so many emotions would go around, just from 1 simple question? It seemed like a recurring thing in the Brigade —sometimes annoying, but sometimes really useful.
It was just a matter of timing.
The Miqo’te saw Alice heading to the Bridge with a new cheer in her step, only able to draw an uneasy look as a reply to no one. With a sigh, M’Lyn returned to her own thing, although more relieved now that one of the siblings had gotten their baggage dealt with.
The other would take more time —M’Lyn already knew that from the many times she’d butted heads with Jack before.
“It’s not like he’ll open up easily, anyways…”
It would be a few hours before Alice ran back around the hall, trying to get everyone to the Bridge, seemingly in a hurry. Now with her black jacket on, her figure as Navigator was outshining everything else. M’Lyn was quick to catch up, and Jack had taken his time to get out of his room seemingly sleepy.
Was the girl rushing around because she’d received their next order?

”Then…I’ll be going back to the Bridge.” It was good to see Alice more confident—determination oozing from her aura. Nodding in departure, Kujo raised a brow at her pause. ”I know it might be selfish, but…” Her request was genuine, causing a more serious expression on his face as he agreed with a nod. ”Yeah.” He had figured out what he had needed for now, anyway. The rest was in Elena’s hands. Speaking of which… His newest inquiries would be far away from the twins. That ‘partner’ of hers. It was something he didn’t quite understand. Is it something only they can perceive? Was it something akin to his own abilities?
Raising a hand as Alice headed through the door, the man had new topics to brood over as he was left to his room once more.
A few hours later, Kujo found himself pulled from his peaceful contemplation by a rather energetic Alice. About time. It seemed like their unit had finally received an order. Though it was important to have the time to rest and ruminate over everything, Kujo had still been annoyed at their investigation of Radiant Garden being rejected. At least whatever their new mission was would let him take his mind off of things.
Seeing Jack in the hallway, the man wore a faint smirk as he noticed the teen’s sleepiness. She really worries for nothing. Giving him a nod in greeting, Kujo would head into the Bridge, curious as to what their next mission would be. Deciding to stand rather than sit, the man loomed in the room with his hands in his pockets, a brow raised in curiosity. ”So—what is it this time?” Despite his gruff demeanor, the stoic man truly was curious about what other worlds remained out there unexplored.
Though I’m sure those damned pests will be there, no matter what. Had they seen a world without the Heartless yet, after all?

Alice had rushed back to the Bridge after picking everyone up, standing up in front of the screens as she waited for the rest, who were all quick to arrive. Kujo was first, followed by M’Lyn and lastly by Jack, who still had some leftover sleepiness, rubbing his eyes a bit as he finally managed to catch up.
Kujo’s question resonated loudly once the team had rendezvous at the Bridge, turning all heads towards him. Alice nodded, letting go of the commands as she clutched her hands over her chest yet again.
Another bad habit of hers —one she couldn’t let go of.
“…Elena wants us to help another unit” Alice’s briefing caught Jack and M’Lyn’s attention, “They apparently send a distress signal, and they need backup. I… I haven’t contacted their Navigator yet, though, so I can’t say much more than that…” “Another…” “Unit?” “Mm-hmm.” “That’s odd…” Jack thought aloud, bringing one hand to his chin, “Why would they need backup…?” the elder brother looked at her sister, curious, “Did Elena state anything about that? Or did that unit say anything about their condition?” “Apparently, they’ve split up, and they can’t regroup. Not only that, but apparently a member had to use an emergency channel…” “…!” “So, their Navigator wasn’t the one to send that signal?” M’Lyn asked, curious, receiving a nod, “That could prove troublesome…”
Jack’s face had soured, only fearing the worst based on a past only he and Alice knew about —although the latter didn’t know the full extend of it. His fists clenched, worrying about something out of his control, but wanting to do something about it immediately.
“Set a course as soon as you can” he ordered, firmly, “While we’re on our way there, try to contact their Navigator how many times you need —we need to know their situation as precisely as possible.” “Right!”
Alice sat down and turned to set course, while Jack looked at the screens while mulling over the info. Another unit… How long had it been, since he last saw other Brigade members? The thought was somewhat bitter, but he had to swallow it regardless. If their Navigator wasn’t answering, then the unit was in a serious dilemma.
They had to get there as soon as possible. In Jack’s mind, a possible outcome to the situation arose, causing his expression to turn into a scowl.
He wouldn’t let the same event happen again —he’d vowed that. No matter what, he’d avoid the same thing that happened to him to ever happen to anyone else. That was a promise he was sticking to regardless of the situation.
