Aladdin was taken aback by the sudden offer. In a sense, it wasn’t different to the hasty deal he’d settled with the previous unit, and so he was already familiar with how things went. The group had been nice to offer him aid when he needed it, giving him the necessary tips to deal with the creatures that had appeared around Agrabah and in the desert. Nodding with determination, Aladdin shook Kujo’s hand.
“If it means helping those guys and Jasmine, then I’m in” he said after shaking it once, “And don’t worry —I can take care of myself” Aladdin added with a grin, moving around to show the simitar hanging behind him, “I’ve made a dent or two —taken them out whenever I find them.” “You’ve actually defeated them before?” M’Lyn asked. “Yeah —didn't do half-bad, either. But I get it —you guys don’t wanna involve me in your business. This is just to help that group and Jasmine out —nothing else.” “…Jack, where are you?” “Right around the corner —shouldn’t take a minute.”
M’Lyn nodded, returning her stance towards Aladdin and Kujo. Abu was sitting on the man’s shoulder, seemingly behaving itself after the failed theft it had in mind. Were they really not the culprits? She couldn’t help but remain wary, her ears rather low in order to not alert the locals of the world with her otherworldly features, yet still alert for the most subtle of sounds.
Jack landed near with a faint thud, catching the group’s attention —most prominently Aladdin’s. He perked up after seeing Jack’s uniform, tilting his head a bit as Jack’s face wasn’t familiar. The teen, on the other hand, sighed after seeing the local’s expression, only able to crack his neck at the sight.
“No, we haven’t met yet” Jack said, nonchalant, “I ain’t from their group, either —the one you dealt with. I’m a different unit altogether.” “R-Right… Should I…?” “I’m Jack —that’s all ya need to know.” “Aladdin.” “Can we go now?” M’Lyn asked, glaring, “This ‘Cave of Wonders’ place… Can we get going? We don’t have time to waste.” “Right” Aladdin nodded, “First, we get out of the city. I’ll wait for you guys outside if I have to —you can probably guess that I’m not exactly very well-received in Agrabah, even if I’m helping the princess out.” “…What’d I miss…?” Jack looked unamused as he asked that question. “Okay, then, I’ll be waiting. We don’t have time to waste!”
With that said, Aladdin waited for a cue for him to leave his own way. He had a feeling the team wouldn’t tag along with him when leaving the town —or maybe they would, but he couldn’t tell for certain. As the newer person to the deal they had made, Jack was a bit lost, but it wouldn’t deter him.
He was quick to get into action, in a sense —something as lack of details wouldn’t be too much of an obstacle.
“Sis, you there?” Jack asked. “Yeah —what is it?” “Keep an eye out for the locations of the other team plus the Heartless —we’ll need to be wary.” “Okay.” “And tell Andreas to not slack off —we need him 24/7 to find his crew.” “Trust me —I didn’t plan on leaving him to his own devices. Even if I’m not really comfortable with him here on my own.” “…I’ll get you somethin’ later, then. Just to make it worthwhile” Jack smirked. “Yay! Then I’ll do my best!” “You’re really easy to please, aren’t you, Alice…?”
The girl giggled a bit at the commentary. The group would wait and agree on the way to leave before heading that way —it didn’t matter if they went through the streets or through the sneakier way. Once they were out of the city walls and at the open desert, they would see Aladdin at a fair distance, waiting for them to guide them along.
“The Cave of Wonders is that way” he explained, “I wish Carpet was here —that’d make things easier… We’ll have to walk it. It’s not too long, thankfully, but it’ll be somewhat tough.”

Shaking Aladdin’s hand, Kujo gave a stoic nod as the deal was struck. Shoving the offered hand back into his pocket, the man was at least relieved that things were beginning to piece together. ”Don’t worry—I can take care of myself.” Kujo raised a skeptical eyebrow at this as his eyes glanced at the scimitar at the boy’s belt. ”You’ve actually defeated them before?” It seemed M’Lyn was just as skeptical as he was. Shrugging a bit, Kujo merely mumbled a ”Suit yourself” as a response. As Jack landed in the small clearing in the town they stood in, Kujo glanced with mild humor at the uniform throwing Aladdin off. It made sense, considering his prior involvement with the unit—which the recognition of the uniform confirmed.
”This ‘Cave of Wonders’ place…can we get going?” The Miqo’te rushed to the point after the introductions were over with, as typical as ever. As Aladdin made his way to head out of the town gates, taking a stealthier back-alley sort of path, Kujo listened to Jack and Alice’s interaction over the comms. He must really trust them, to leave them with her. Though it wasn’t his ideal, the man resigned himself to the circumstances with a faint sigh as he crossed his arms. Alice’s giggle at being told she’d receive a reward brought a faint smirk to Kujo’s face, contrasting with his mild look of exasperation. That girl… She really was all over the place sometimes.
Heading with the team through the streets of Agrabah, as they were no longer ‘wanted’, the Brigade members reconnected with Aladdin outside of the city walls, right past the gate before the open desert expanse stretched. ”The Cave of Wonders is that way.” Following the local’s gesture, Kujo didn’t notice anything at first glance beyond more sand. ”We’ll have to walk it. It’s not too long, thankfully, but it’ll be somewhat tough.” Well, he hadn’t expected much to go easy for them, considering their other missions track records…
”Lead the way.” Walking with his hands in his pockets, Kujo still seemed unbothered by the blaring desert sun despite his attire. Following Aladdin’s lead, he would walk with the others across the desert, wondering what this ‘Cave of Wonders’ looked like…

Aladdin nodded as he took the lead, with the group following behind calmly. The desert was unforgiving, but not so much now that they had a guide who knew their way through the dunes of the place. Even though it was still annoyingly hot, Jack made an effort to keep it to himself this time.
He’d been getting used to it, little by little. He could always cool down with a quick shower back at the ship, anyways —a small reward if they managed to finish that mission.
On the way there, they came across an oasis —and actual one, not like the many mirages they would’ve seen on their way there. It was slightly cooler than in the desert, and there was some green to indicate the presence of water. Near the actual pond were two people —ones Jack recognized immediately. A boy and a girl, fitting the description of the people Andreas had given them.
Most likely, Mary and Troy —the member who’d gone to chase after the real thieves, and the Navigator who decided to help them out.
“H-Hey!” Jack ran towards them in a bit of a panic, just to check on their condition. “Dehydrated, most likely” M’Lyn sighed, “I guess they tried getting water, but faltered soon before reaching it…” “…No —they’re wounded” Jack grimaced, “It’s light, but they’re pretty beat up.” “…Heartless, then?” “Hold on, lemme help, then.”
Aladdin rushed to help Jack aid the two wounded people, thankfully just unconscious. It wouldn’t make them any good to rest under the unforgiving sunlight, though —M’Lyn and the local both made that clear. It wasn’t hard to move them towards the shade, and help them a bit with fresh water. Jack stood a bit near the boy he’d helped, a somewhat grim expression written in his face.
If he was their Navigator… He had a few things he had to ask.
“You’ll scare him if he wakes up to you in that mood, you know…” M’Lyn mentioned, her arms crossed. “…Haa…” Jack sighed, standing up and meeting her, “Why don’t you focus on healin’ them back up?” “If they were hurt by Heartless, then shouldn’t we save it for ourselves?” “You’re real tactless, y’know that…?” “…They’re not that grave” Aladdin mentioned, “At the very least, the girl’s isn’t.” “Still…” Jack brought his hand to his chin, “They would know if they were being followed… Right?” “Heartless are unique, in that sense —either they chase, or they don’t” M’Lyn pouted. “…Sis?” “I’ll be on the lookout” the girl informed, “For now, it’s clear.” “Ah —Troy’s actually there?!” Andreas’ voice echoed through the comms. “So —that’s Troy?” “Yeah… Are they gonna be okay?” “They should” Jack nodded, “It’s just a matter of waitin’ on them to get their bearings together.”
The girl groaned a bit after a while, shaking her head a bit. Aladdin offered her some water to drink, which she accepted rather well —taking the small bottle and bringing it to her lips, greedily chugging onto water until she choked on it after not taking a breath, but otherwise fine. Her dark-orange hair, tied in two braids behind her head, glowed faintly against the harsh sunlight, her turquoise eyes looking around as she recognized Aladdin.
Her outfit had similar coloration to Jack’s own —starting with a sleeveless camo jacket over a light brown shirt. Instead of trousers, the girl wore a short brown skirt and camo green leggings up to her knees, finishing with tight-closed black boots. In a sense, it was a similar military fashion as evidenced by the nature of the Brigade.
“You’re… Actually here? I thought you said you couldn’t leave?” the girl asked. “Well… I’m sorta paying the favor” Aladdin grinned, “Not only that…” the man turned towards the unit, “But they’re apparently looking for you. Do you know them?” “…” the girl looked at the group, perking up as she noticed the uniform Jack wore, “Another unit?! W-Why…?” “We received orders from Elena to help you guys out” Jack introduced, “You are…?” “Ah, right!” the girl nodded, eager, “I’m Mary Heathers —second-in-command.”

Sifting through hot sand and hearing a steady buzz—Kujo was silently grateful for his Akogare—as part of maintaining his peak physical performance included temperature. The trek through the desert hardly phased him, it was basically just a long walk. Emerging upon the small oasis, Kujo’s eyes landed on the two other missing members—currently collapsed near the waters edge. ”Dehydrated, most likely.” What a shame, they had nearly made it, too. Upon closer inspection, Jack pointed out how the two unit members appeared to have sustained some wounds. ”Heartless, then?” Kujo grimaced. They hadn’t run into the pests out in the desert, yet.
So, they’re all the way out here, too? The man wasn’t too surprised, considering the Heartless’ nature. Seeking out hearts to devour, the demons would hardly be stopped by the sea of sand. While Aladdin and Jack began to move them out of the blaring sunlight and into the shade, Kujo inspected the two passed out members. His own abilities could only heal him, not others. Though the man knew some minor medical aid tactics, it would hardly be more beneficial than magic. ”Why don’t you focus on healin’ them back up?” Jack seemed to be thinking along the same lines—though it sounded like M’Lyn’s magic was something to be conserved. Still unsure of how the nature of ‘magic’ really worked, Kujo merely shrugged in response to the Miqo’te’s refusal.
”I’ll be on the lookout.” With Alice keeping watch, and Kujo’s Akogare able to sense the Heartless (for the most part), it seemed the squad was covered. ”Ah—Troy’s actually there?!” The loud new voice crackling over the comm caused Kujo’s face to darken in minor annoyance as his hand flexed. Can’t I catch a break? Now he had more voices in his head? It wasn’t an ideal situation, in Kujo’s opinion. Choking out a cough, the awakening girl grabbed his attention, diverting his annoyance for a moment. Looks like she’s alright. Drinking water and able to sit up, it seemed she would make an average recovery. ”They’re apparently looking for you. Do you know them?”
The look on the girl’s face was clear; she didn’t know them, but she did recognize Jack’s uniform. ”Another unit?!” She seemed surprised. Kujo raised an eyebrow at this, watching her with a skeptical look as he crossed his arms. She doesn’t even know her own teams situation? Of course there’d be some form of backup—considering the lack of communication and state of the original unit. ”I’m Mary Heathers—second-in-command.” It wasn’t very hopeful. At least they had found them, though. Now all that’s left is to get the other two out of prison. His face darkened a bit as he scowled, the thought less than appealing. Not due to the task itself, but due to the methods he was sure Jack wouldn’t agree to.
I could just go break them out myself. It would take no time at all, and they’d be able to avoid this ridiculous ‘thief chase’ they had been forced to participate in. Then again, Aladdin had requested their aid specifically with rescuing Princess Jasmine from the 'Cave of Wonders'. Damn it. He shouldn't have made any sort of deal. They could have been done with all of this in ten more minutes, if he hadn't. Walking over to the injured girl, the tall man glanced down, his face as stoic as ever, though his gaze was far from harsh. ”Kujo. That's Jack and M'Lyn." Gesturing at his teammates, the man's voice and tone betrayed his mild annoyance at having to make introductions. "Well? Can you still fight?” He gave the girl a stern look, one that would make it clear that he wouldn't tolerate her embellishing her limits. "If not, you'll have to stay behind." Glancing at Jack over his shoulder, the man raised a brow. "Honestly, you and M'Lyn should just take them to the ship. I can easily handle whatever is happening at the Cave." Besides, it was his deal with Aladdin that made it so they would have to face the Cave of Wonders at some point, whether he wanted to or not. Kujo felt it was only right for him to be the one to deal with it, now that they were so close to finishing their mission. If he hadn't bothered to strike the deal, the team would be free to finish things faster, the way he wanted.
In that way, Kujo had become his own worst enemy. He wasn't going to be striking any more 'deals' anytime soon.

Mary shivered a bit, only being able to nod as Kujo introduced the group. She averted her gaze when the mention of “fighting” was mentioned, only to shake it later.
“I can do basic defensive, but… Fighting’s not really up my alley —I’m a spy, not a fighter.” “Not an excuse…” Jack scowled, puffing his cheeks. “Huh?” Mary tilted her head, confused, as she stood up, “Why not? My role is to gather info, isn’t it? Not fend my way through and fight —that’s Lancer and Corrine’s job.” “No wonder y’all found yourselves like this…” Jack thought with an exasperated sigh. “Hey —when a girl’s talking, you should listen!” Mary shouted, bitter.
Jack looked away, bitter, only to hear Kujo’s suggestion. In a sense, if Mary was telling the truth, then maybe she and Troy should be taken back to the Almira, since they didn’t know where the other ship was. Once again, Jack glared at the Navigator, still hurt and unconscious after it all. M’Lyn also agreed, even though she’d rather stay in the open than cooped inside.
Such was her Adventurer’s spirit.
“…I’ll take that offer” Jack nodded at Kujo's suggestion, “There’s a few things on my end I wanna settle back at the ship, anyways.” “Such as…?” Mary asked, skeptical. “…’Bout the mission you guys had, for example. Or how you got framed —things that can help us get the bigger picture, rather than the small one.” “I’m not about to go with you —not when I have something to do.” “Listen” Jack sighed, scowling, “We’re here to lend y’all a hand —whether you like it or not, those are our orders. I ain’t the type to disobey, ya got that?” “Knock that off —you’re being way too aggressive” M’Lyn berated, crossing her arms. “Haa…” Jack scratched the back of his head with annoyance, “Seriously, why the hell…?” “I’m still adamant on going after the real thieves” Mary pouted, “Lancer and Corrine trust me with this —like hell I’ll let them down.” “God, can’t you get it?!”
M’Lyn was caught off-guard as Jack stepped forward, his anger clear. Even Aladdin was shocked, since he hadn’t seen this side of a unit member before —in the little time he had. As for Jack, his frustration was clear. Even if the situation at hand wasn’t like the one he’d found himself at years ago, it was still something he felt strongly for.
He didn’t want anyone going through the same thing he did —the sentiment was there, vividly. Yet the manners at which he displayed them at weren’t the best.
“Right now, what I need to know is how the hell you got caught up in this mess” Jack said, trying to regain composure, “Heck, had it not been for your damn Navigator leaving your ship alone and goin’ after ya, we wouldn’t be takin’ this long.” “What—?!” “Jack, enough!” M’Lyn scowled, “What’s gotten into you all of the sudden?!” “Troy wanted to help me!” Mary shouted back, “I don’t know where Andreas ended up at, and he got worried about me!” “Oh, so leaving communications was a great idea, wasn’t it?” Jack sneered, enraged, “Leaving the rest to their own business while he went and helped you out —sure, worked great, didn’t it?” “So what?!” “Y’know how you left two comrades behind, right? They still have their communications enabled, don’t they? We didn’t hear anything about Code White being issued —and if it was, then it’s your Navi’s fault for not being where he should be! This ain’t some sort of game —people’s lives are at stake, y’know?! ” “Jack!”
Jack blinked a bit, taking a step back as Alice’s voice shouted through his com —the only thing able to make him focus. The teen took a deep breath, knowing he’d gone far —but it was the truth. If the Navigator had stayed put, then they would’ve learnt more about the situation, and taken on a better approach. The fact that their Navigator has left their post in order to help a particular member of the unit only served to irritate him.
“Imagine if he actually bailed on you —what would you think then?!” the teen thought, bitter. “…We’ll be taking you two with us” M’Lyn informed, much for Mary’s dismay, “Whether you like it or not —you’re in no condition to continue this pursuit.” “But—!” “You don’t have the slightest idea of the situation you’re into —that alone is a danger for all of us” the Miqo’te said, coldly, “So, I’d suggest you comply with us, rather than argue.” “…Fine…”
Mary mumbled, looking away yet begrudgingly agreeing to the conditions. Jack had already taken a step ahead and wrapped Troy’s arm around his neck, and carrying him with him. He glanced over at Kujo and Aladdin, knowing the next step to the plan.
“We’ll leave the Cave to you two” he said, serious, “M’Lyn and I will head to the ship, but if we’ve got time to join you two, then we’ll do it. Got it?”
With an answer obtained, Jack contacted Alice to land near the area, all the while he carried Troy with M’Lyn and Mary following behind him. In the meantime, Kujo and Aladdin had a destination to arrive to —the Cave of Wonders, not that far off from where they were. Just a straight walk forward across the unforgiving desert.

Kujo gave a small sigh as his face betrayed his mild exasperation towards Mary’s answer. So she’ll be useless there, then. If the Heartless were around, going to this ‘Cave of Wonders’ surely would involve some fighting. People couldn’t sneak around or reason with the Heartless, after all. ”I’ll take that offer.” It seemed his suggestion was the best course, glad that both Jack and M’Lyn had agreed to it. ”I’m not about to go with you—not when I have something to do.” Mary’s initial refusal brought a grimace to the stoic man’s face. In truth, Kujo was open to merely bringing the girl back against her will and allowing Jack and M’Lyn to take his place at the Cave.
It would be nothing for him to throw her over his shoulder and be at the Almira within the blink of an eye. The argument that began to ensue caught the man by vague surprise, though truthfully he was glad to see Jack being smart and serious. A faint smirk lingered on Kujo’s lips as he realized how ironic it was that it was at this time he found Jack’s personality most agreeable. Despite how he felt on the matter, Alice was quick to interject, both her and M’Lyn wary of the man’s straight-forwardness. ”Tch—You’re right, you know.” He offered the low mumble to the teen in small reassurance, his serious expression showing how he heard the weight of the guys words. Regardless of the brashness of it all, what Jack said was true. This wasn’t a game.
When it came to the Heartless, people died.
Worse than that, they lost their hearts.
”We’ll be taking you two with us.” M’Lyn was quick to reign back control over the situation, cowing Mary’s arguments before they even had a hope to begin. ”Fine…” Shoving his hands into his pockets, Kujo sighed in mild relief. He much preferred combat situations to social ones. Being in the ship with so many people didn’t sound ideal to him. ”We’ll leave the Cave to you two.” Giving Jack a nod, Kujo shoved his hands into his pockets as he prepared to leave with Aladdin. ”This’ll be over quick.” Whatever this ‘Cave of Wonders’ held—the man would simply crush it all.
”Let’s go.” Glancing at Aladdin, Kujo nodded with his head in the direction they had been heading before stopping to rescue the unit members. Heading out across the desert once more, the man was only mildly annoyed at having to go at such a slow pace for the locals sake. If he knew where the area was, he could have completed the mission by now at his full speed, he was sure.

At first startled, Aladdin was quick to get back in gear. Nodding at Kujo’s works, he led the way to the Cave of Wonders, all the while Jack and M’Lyn parted ways. The local glanced over one last time before focusing on leading the way, a determined look in his eyes as he did so.
Once the group met up with Alice and Andreas at the Almira, the latter helped Troy out after Jack passed him over, all the while the teen headed to meet with his sister and check on how things were. Mary had walked her way begrudgingly, but with the Miqo’te keeping a close eye on her, the chances of escaping were close to none.
“…We’re just missin’ those two —Lancer and Corrine, right?” Jack asked Alice, receiving a nod, “Have you managed to get anything from them?” “No… The signal works fine —it’s just them not picking it up” Alice said, puffing her cheeks. “Tch…” “So? What exactly was it you ‘needed to settle’?” Mary asked with a pout. “…What was your guys’ mission here?” Jack asked, turning towards her. “Gather intel. Isn’t that the same for you most of the time?” the girl replied back, condescending. “M-Mary…” “I can understand if you weren’t expecting being framed for theft, but how the hell did you get in this mess in the first place?" “Hmph…” “…We walked inside the city to see what we could find —all four of us, while Troy remained at the ship” Andreas replied, catching Mary off-guard, “We didn’t do anything out of the ordinary, but suddenly we got surrounded. That’s when Lancer decided to tackle things head-on instead of avoiding them, and settled a deal.” “Then explain why your Navigator left his post?” Jack asked, glaring as he crossed his arms. “Jack…”
Alice’s faint voice caused him to groan, but he stopped interrogating for the time being. As for the person in question, he groaned as well, slowly opening his eyes while Andreas was supporting him. Jack waited until their Navigator was all up and awake before continuing his own investigation.
The Navigator was a guy around his 20s, with short blonde hair and brown eyes. His outfit was in a similar fashion to Alice’s —a white blouse with a red tie, and black trousers. Unlike the girl, he was wearing sneakers instead of shoes —white with no details at all. Jack glared his way, not willing to hold anything back.
“So, then —Troy, right?” Jack asked, his arms crossed as the male Navi turned his way, “Care to explain why you left your post?” “…” Troy looked back, composed, “I went to help Mary, since she was the closest one to me.” “And you didn’t think on askin’ for help?” “I did, but…” Troy looked away, “I was worried… I heard everything that happened when Lancer and Corrine decided to stay in the city, while Andreas and Mary chased after those things. It didn’t cross my mind…” “Tch…” Jack gritted his teeth, grabbing the man by the collar of his shirt, bitter, “Y’know how easy this would’ve been had you just sent a distress signal?! It was a teammate that had to do that, and because of it, we have no info on what the hell’s goin’ on!” “…” Troy glared a bit, but his gaze softened. “…When you mention ‘those things’” Jack let go forcefully, still glaring, “You mean the Heartless, right?” “I guess so, yeah…” “Is this some sort of game to y’all? You know how dangerous they are —and yet you decided to leave your post? Without saying anything to anyone!?” “…I understand why you’re mad —if you have any questions about the mission, then I’m here to answer them” Troy said, calmly. “…Did Lancer and Corrine issue Code White —yes or no?” “No.” “Then why can’t they communicate with us or you?” “I don’t know.” “…” Jack clicked his tongue subtlely, “…I’ll head out” he turned towards M’Lyn and Alice, “M’Lyn, you’re taggin’ along?” “Were you aiming for the world’s core again?” the Miqo’te asked. “We might end up finding it —but I give a damn right now. I just wanna settle this and call it a day…” “Suit yourself…” “As for you lot…” Jack turned towards the trio, glaring, “Stay. Here. I don’t want to hear you ran off tryin’ to get back to your ship —not with the Heartless runnin’ along and without anyone of you able to fight.”
M’Lyn nodded in agreement, and Alice, although uneasy, understood the bigger picture, and remained quiet. Even if she was uncomfortable with the people she didn’t know, it was for the better. Everyone had to make an effort. Besides, the girl had been promised a reward afterwards —so shouldn’t she work for it? The thought caused her to blink, but she quickly turned around with a smile.
The only thing that worried her was her brother’s behavior, though. It was clear that he was upset by it all.
“…I’ll give him a reward later, too, then!” she thought to herself, determined.
Inside the Cave of Wonders, the first thing both Kujo and Aladdin would see was a dark and damp corridor, with the stairs only leading down. Aladdin scowled, bitter, knowing how it would go from there.
It wasn’t his first time in the area.
“Whatever you do, Abu… Don’t grab. Anything” the street-rat reprimanded. With a calmer look, he looked at Kujo, “Same to you —don’t grab anything. I dunno what sort of defense mechanism this cave has, but they’re not pleasant… If we go around carelessly, we’ll be eaten by the sand.”
From the staircase, at the far end, Kujo would be able to see a glitter of gold, perhaps even more with his Akogare. Woosh! The familiar presence of darkness would also be seen, as Heartless would rise up and stand a fight to the two intruders entering the cave.
Not that they had much of a chance to win…

Cresting a sand dune, the Cave of Wonders exposed itself ahead. Kujo’s brows raised at the large animal head entrance, crafted from the mouth of said beast, rows of teeth and a tongue forming the ‘path’. He had definitely not seen anything like this before. Following Aladdin’s lead, the man’s emerald eyes lingered over the glowing eyes of the animal-head as they walked into its mouth…
Inside was dark and damp, a harsh contrast to the hot and bright desert outside. ”Whatever you do, Abu…don’t grab anything.” Hearing Aladdin chastise the monkey, Kujo grimaced as he recalled its earlier failed attempt at pickpocketing. Tch—will it really listen to him, this time? Part of him wasn’t getting his hopes up. ”If we go around carelessly, we’ll be eaten by the sand.” Nodding in affirmation, Kujo seemed as calm and stoic as ever despite the bizarre environment. As they reached the bottom of the staircase, the man’s eyes caught the glint of bright gold—as well as a familiar thorn in his side. Whoosh! Sighing, Kujo’s form shimmered brightly in the dark.
”Can’t I catch a break?” Of course they’d be here. His Akogare appearing at his side, radiant in the otherwise dim cave, Kujo turned and faced the Heartless head on. Floating in front of him, his guardian crossed its arms over its chest as a bright light began to form. BLIIIIING! A torrent of heart-shaped light blasts erupted forward from Akogare as it used its DokiDoki ability, exploding around the coming enemies. Walking with a casual pace, his hands still in his pockets, Kujo glared at the enemies as his guardian began to unleash its armored fists with its Wakeru ability.
Tch—damned pests. Whoever had swiped the heirloom and kidnapped the Princess…were they controlling these Heartless, or able to avoid them? Glancing at the emblems, the man recalled the difference between the ‘Pureblood’ and ‘Artificial’ Heartless. Most likely controlled, then. He could be wrong, but he recalled the information Alice had gotten from Twilight Town mentioning how typically these ‘Emblem Heartless’ were crafted for nefarious purposes by those able to manipulate the darkness for their own advantage. They could be here, after all… M’Lyn had already mentioned that perhaps their prior enemy from their last mission was behind the Heartless appearance here. The thought made his face sour.
Knowing it was pointless to mull it all over, Kujo pressed onward with the fight. The only way to find out was to keeping going, after all.

While Kujo fended the Heartless with the help of his Akogare, Aladdin was a flurry of movement as he swung his simitar and surpassing the Heartless’ pale imitation of the dance. Abu had clung tightly to the man’s vest as he moved around and making his path through the Heartless with impressive mastery.
It seemed his earlier comment about being “able to fend them off” held true.
The DokiDoki ability hit the airborne enemies for the most damage, the Rapid Thrusters taking no time to disappear in a puff of black smoke. One of the Crimson Jazz was heavily damaged, while the other had taken its distance and readied various fireballs towards Kujo and his Akogare, while the guardian’s Wakeru hit cleanly on the enemies that were backed his way by Aladdin.
The local had to admit it —Kujo was able to hold his ground more than perfectly fine. The synergy wasn’t bad, either, almost like a perfect sync even though they had just met. With about half of the enemies defeated, the battle seemed to go in their favor.
Blam! The fireballs scattered through the battle ground, some aimed towards Kujo while the others seemed to be random. Aladdin dodged out of the way, unscathed, although Abu panicked. The man scowled a bit, before focusing on the annoying enemy, not noticing that the other Crimson Jazz was recovering from the attack. Out of the other enemies —Bandits and Luna Bandits—, there remained 2 of the former and 1 of the latter, both dazed and very damaged.
It wouldn’t take much to defeat them.
The second Crimson Jazz was also readying a spell, although much more sluggish than the other one. They were the only active enemies remaining.
[Battle! 2 Crimson Jazz, 2 Bandits, 1 Luna Bandit]
“You’re closing in to where Kujo is —no doubt.”
Alice’s voice echoed almost naturally in Jack’s comm, as he and M’Lyn rushed to the Cave of Wonders. The teen was still agitated by the lack of responsibility Troy had shown, only able to grimace at the mere thought of it. Such irresponsibility was a nuisance… The thought suddenly turned familiar —a rather amusing thought crossing the teens’ mind.
“Now I get why Brandon was so picky about the Navs…”
For once, recalling such a thing didn’t turn bitter or into nausea, seeing that his current frustration was justified. Kujo’s words echoed in his head —“you’re right, you know”. It was a first, seeing him actually agree for once. It was reassuring in such a situation.
Knowing someone like him had his back…
“Kujo, where are you?” he asked, trying to reach him through the comms, “M’Lyn and I are headed your way —the rest are with Alice by the Almira.”

While his guardian assaulted the enemies, Kujo observed Aladdin’s combat abilities. Not bad. It seemed the young man was certainly skilled with that curved blade of his. The synergy between them was appreciated, as it made the nuisance they were already dealing with easier. BLAM! Fireballs illuminated the dark cavern, casting harsh shadows as the spells launched out. SKKKKKK! Steam and smoke erupted as Kujo’s Akogare held up its arms in a cross shape to protect itself. Tch—how annoying. He hated Heartless that could use magic—as Kujo’s own abilities were limited to a much shorter range.
Clearing out of the corridor, once the smoke lifted, Kujo stood with a scowl as his own clothes smoldered and his exposed flesh singed. Though his Akogare’s armor had allowed the guardian to take such an attack head-on, it hadn’t gone without damaging the host. All of the damage his guardian took he received, after all. It was the only drawback to the bizarre power he had been gifted with. Not that it holds me back. Thankfully, now was his chance. Wounds like what he sustained hardly phased the man, after his own experiences from the past. With most of the other Heartless dazed or busy casting, Kujo moved faster than his gait betrayed. Within moments the man had closed the distance, his Akogare readying its plated fists as it rained down torrents of heavy punches among the remaining enemies.
As the translucent figure attacked, Kujo’s own body seemed to shimmer and glow with a faint light, as his Toshi ability healed the damage he had sustained from the spell. ”Kujo, where are you?” Jack’s voice crackled over the comm, bringing the man to a pause after his assault for a moment as he listened. ”We’re in the Cave. Clearing the path now.” Sighing a bit in exasperation, Kujo took his hand away from the comm device after explaining the direction he and Aladdin had went from the oasis.

“Got it —we’re gettin’ there!”
Jack grinned, rushing his step as he managed to make the outline of the tiger-like entrance. M’Lyn was able to keep up easily, readying herself for a battle that would most likely unfold. Much like Jack, the Miqo’te was rather fed up with the lack of action from the previous unit —the one they were tasked to save. They all acted so amateurish… The thought lingered for a bit as she glanced over at Jack, recalling the time when they met.
“Weren’t they the same age?” she thought, “Jack was 16, if I recall… Wasn’t that kid he saved and that girl around the same age?”
Even though with plenty of things in urgency, the thought wouldn’t leave her head. There were many things M’Lyn didn’t know about Jack and Alice, yet she’d refused to ask after the many attempts before.
Something for later, she supposed.
Aladdin swung his simitar, cutting through the last enemies easily after they had tackled onto Kujo, while he took time to heal back up and explain directions to the pair running their way there —not that it would matter, since Alice was still picking up his comm from where she was. Once the battle was done, and having saved his simitar, Aladdin glanced over to the golden glint further ahead.
“…” he took a deep breath, looking at Kujo, “You know? I’m kinda glad you decided to tag along. If you’re here, then this’ll be a breeze. And we’ll be able to help Jasmine quicker.” “There!”
The man turned towards the entrance as Jack and M’Lyn rushed down the stairs to meet them. Since the battle was over with, there was no need to remain wary for a bit. Jack looked further ahead, his gaze strengthening a bit as he chose to push forward without another word. The Miqo’te waited a bit on the other two before following, wondering just what lurked ahead…
“…Say” Jack glanced back towards Aladdin, “What exactly was stolen from the castle? People say it’s an ‘heirloom’, but what exactly is it?” “Hmm… I’ve never seen it myself” Aladdin admitted, “I think Jasmine mentioned it being a tiara of sorts…” “A tiara…?” “Trust me —I’ll let you know when we find it” M’Lyn nodded, “I’ve seen the things before, but I can’t say if it’ll be exactly as the ones I know…” “You’re… Sure you’re not the thief?” Aladdin teased. “Quiet, you.”
From a damp and dark staircase, the group would come to a room full of gold, it radiating light from seemingly nowhere. Plenty of riches and treasure greeted them, a single opening going deeper inside. Aladdin glared at the monkey in his shoulder, it nodding vigorously as it sensed hostility near.
It wouldn’t try to snatch anything from anyone or anywhere.

”You know? I’m kinda glad you decided to tag along.” Aladdin’s comment brought a faint smirk to the man’s face. Truthfully, Kujo respected the young man, who had been willing to come to fight these unknown enemies regardless if they had given him help or not. Hadn’t he himself rushed headfirst to aid someone important to him, not too many years back? In that way, the two were similar. ”There!” Jack’s voice came through on the comm, also echoing throughout the chamber as Kujo turned to see the teen and M’Lyn rushing towards them. Giving a short nod in greeting, Kujo turned back to face the stretching path ahead—the glint of gold in the distance making him wonder if what they were seeking was close.
”What exactly was stolen from the castle?” Jack seemed to be thinking along similar lines, his question bouncing back and repeating off of the large cavernous walls. ”I think Jasmine mentioned it being a tiara of sorts…” Kujo grimaced a bit. Tiara’s were delicate. Fragile. They’d have to make sure to not break the heirloom, if they truly hoped to clear the names of the arrested unit members. Shrugging the thought off, the man decided worst case scenario he’d resort to his ‘break-out’ plan if that were to happen. ”Trust me—I’ll let you know when we find it.” M’Lyn’s comment caused Kujo to raise a brow, giving the woman a curious glance with a faint smirk on his lips.
”Sure you’re not the thief?” Aladdin’s jab had been exactly what Kujo had been thinking. If the man wasn’t so stoic he’d have laughed. Emerging from the damp staircase and into the bright room of riches and treasures, the man in lavender scowled. Can’t I catch a break? They were supposed to find a tiara in this mess? Nothing was ever easy, it seemed. His eyes closed, reopening to reveal a vast galaxy of stars in place of emeralds. Scanning the room with the enhanced vision of his Akogare, Kujo began to roam around the room, eyeing each pile for any sign of a tiara.
He too, sensed a hostile presence nearby—not that it bothered him at all. With his hands in his pockets and a faint shimmer around his form, the man was prepared as ever as he began his search. His Akogare was never far away, after all…

Kujo’s scrutinous search would be fruitless —whatever it was that had been stolen wasn’t in the room, among the piles of gold and treasury in the large, golden room. Aladdin didn’t bother, having a feeling that would be bound to happen.
It was too important of a treasure to simply place along the common ones. Not to mention…
“…Something lurks ahead…” M’Lyn mumbled, her ears twitching slightly, “Most likely, our perpetrator.” “If Heartless were guarding the entrance… We’re surely onto something” Jack nodded, “Sis?” “There are some readings… But they’re far too faint to make up something” the girl replied. “…Maybe the core’s here?” “If it is, I can’t see it either. We’ve gotten the readings from the energy it spends —I would be able to see it if it’s near.” “Lemme know if that happens, got it?” “Got it.” “Jasmine’s not here…” Aladdin mentioned, walking further towards the cavity in front, leading to another dark tunnel, “Would she go further in, though…?” “Jasmine… A person you’re lookin’ for?” Jack asked —the only one who didn’t know the whole tale. “Yeah —the princess of Agrabah” Aladdin replied, “She was taken by those things, and I’m sure they took her here. It wouldn’t make sense otherwise. Besides, if we can’t retrieve the heirloom, she’s your free-card, as well —she can vouch for those two locked down, and no one will say anything against her. ” “Back on track, though…” M’Lyn asked, tilting her head, “Why would they kidnap someone?” “Maybe a motive?” Jack replied back, “In case there’s someone behind this, that is —but that much we’re sure of, right?” “Hmm?” “Heartless couldn’t have framed the others —they can’t, as a matter of fact” the teen shrugged, “Therefore… Someone’s gotta be behind this. Who it is exactly is up for debate.” “Then… The only further option would be exploring, finding whatever it is we need to find.”
Jack and Aladdin both nodded, heading deeper inside, while M’Lyn waited on Kujo before doing so. It was another dark hallway, but this time it was a shorter one. Just like before, it seemed like they were going closer, and Heartless pounced to attack. This time, however, it was a full group —yet their enemy seemed to be aware of it as well.
“The more they gather, the closer we’re gettin’ to the truth…” Jack scowled, calling onto the blade, “Let’s push it!”

”Something lurks ahead…” It seemed M’Lyn sensed the presence as well. Kujo finished scanning another pile of heaping treasure, scowling as his search proved fruitless. ”There are some readings…but they’re far too faint,” Hearing that they weren’t near the world’s core only meant that the Heartless issue would be a separate task altogether. ”Jasmine’s not here…” Glancing towards the dark tunnel ahead, Kujo figured the only thing they could do was head in deeper. M’Lyn’s question of why the Heartless would kidnap someone was a good one—truthfully, it all reminded the man of their first mission outside of his world. Heartless had taken some of the dwarves—it had been the first instance of him seeing them abduct people but not take their heart.
Someone’s definitely behind their movements. Heartless didn’t spare hearts willingly. It took a strong level of control to be able to reign in those beasts. It had already been a possibility he’d been considering, but now his suspicion was confirmed. Continuing deeper inside, the group was shortly assaulted by more of said pests. Tch—figures. The only good thing was that it meant they were heading the right direction. Summoning his Akogare, Kujo remained composed and cold as he sized up their enemies. Seeing the two large Heartless, the man had decided on his targets. With a calm gait, the man would make his way through the mob, his guardian a flurry of motion as it attacked and defended him in the short walk.
Once he would make it towards the large Heartless, the man would leap into the air—his hands still in his pockets and a rather grumpy expression on his face as he and his Akogare delivered a punishing axe kick down on the head of the large one. Following the attack up with a series of heavy punches, Kujo had begun unleashing hell against the large enemy! Wary of the second, the man would try to keep both of the Fat Bandits attention, aiming for their vulnerable backsides.

While Kujo took on the pair of Fat Bandits on his own alongside his Akogare, Jack and Aladdin squared off with the Bandits and Luna Bandits. M’Lyn took her distance, brandishing a bow and shooting at the enemies from a distance with uncanny precision. Given that all 3 members were meele-oriented, it would make sense for her to take the distance.
Kujo’s pathing to attack the Fat Bandits did defeat a few Shadows that had aimed for him and his guardian, but far from defeating them all. It wouldn’t take much for M’Lyn to clean them off with precise arrows, backing his assault onto the large Heartlesses. It did mean, however, that the magicians were left to their own devices.
All 3 Crimson Jazz aimed their spell towards the party, the fireballs honing onto them in an even array. Jack managed to reflect a few, but was forced on the defensive regardless due to the Bandits’ sudden dance of swords. M’Lyn dodged out of the way, aiming a Heavy Shot at one of them and defeating it in a single attack.
“…There’s someone up ahead!” Alice’s voice echoed through their comms, “I’m certain it’s that person Aladdin was looking for —the readings don’t match anything else.” “So…” Jack grunted, defeating a Bandit after having won a struggle, “Not the enemy we’ve met.” “I’m still on the lookout —they could be here, anyways.” “Just keep letting us in whatever it is you find!” M’Lyn ordered. “Right!” “They’re awfully silent, though…” Jack thought, charging his way at the mob, “I guess they don’t got much to say, other than giving us the resume of their mission…”
The teen was troubled at that, all things considered. Yet he trusted Alice enough to know that she would’ve informed them in case they left the Almira. She was his sister —the only person he could trust regardless of the situation.
Alice wouldn’t let him down.
The battle went mostly on their favor, although it would still take a while before the enemies in front of them fell to their prowess. Both Fat Bandits were focused on Kujo, the one that he wasn’t attacking ramming in for an attack! The Bandits and Luna Bandits that Jack and Aladdin were fighting were losing ground, their numbers dwindling slowly but surely, while M’Lyn had the back of everyone with her ranged attacks and magic prowess.

”There’s someone up ahead!” Alice’s voice confirmed that they were on the right path—though the fact it wasn’t the perpetrator they’d met in the past soured Kujo’s mood a bit. Tch—looks like they get to live another day. He had a score to settle, after all. While his Akogare fended off an attack from the first Fat Bandit, the other took the opportunity to charge at the seemingly defenseless man! Catching the motion from the corner of his eye, Kujo gave a dark smirk as he finally pulled his hands from his pockets, his large calloused hands flexing and ready. It had been some time since he had to do anything. With his Akogare currently grappling against the other large Heartless near his side, Kujo figured it best not to pull it away—instead forcing it to charge against the first enemy with all its might as it unleashed its armored fists upon its vulnerable head.
Kujo met the second Heartless’ charge head-on himself. ”Tch—!!” With both hands outstretched before him, the man SLAMMED against the oncoming charge, digging his expensive sneakers into the dark gravel of the path—a fact that only fueled his rage. It was like being hit by a bus—no, a train. Though it was more force than he expected, Kujo's Akogare wasn't the only power he held. He himself was more than prepared to fight without it. Wasn't the Guardian fueled by the man's own strength, after all? ”Can’t I—“ Speaking through gritted teeth, the man had slid backwards all the way to his own guardian, who’s back was turned to him as it continued to pummel the other Heartless. ”catch a—“ Halting the charge finally, though his hands were visibly torn up and his wrists and forearms heavily bruised (with how they swelled, they may have even broken) from the collision, Kujo grabbed and lifted the Fat Bandit. ”BREAK?!”
With one flourishing and powerful spinning motion, Kujo spun and hurled the other Fat Bandit directly towards the other—his Akogare gliding out of the way with its impressive speed. Hoping to finish off the first by using the second as a projectile, the partially wounded man had an eerie grin on their face as their fists clenched at their sides. Bloodlust was clear on Kujo’s face as he and his Akogare rejoined each other’s sides. It reminded him of those times. Even if the other Fat Bandit had survived the assault, it wouldn’t matter much—not with what his next plan was. ”Giro—“ Both he and the translucent guardian readied and lifted a powerful leg. BLIIIING! A flash of light—a gusting guillotine—Kujo stood behind the two Heartless, his foot and leg smoldering with smoke as he and his Akogare lowered their leg. "—chin!"
The impossibly fast kick acted as though a blade—aiming to finish off both of the large Heartless at once. If it succeeded, the man would immediately shift his attention towards the red flying Heartless casting spells. As he continued his assault, Kujo's body would shimmer and glow as his wounds began to heal, his Akogare using its Tetsu-No-Shinzo ability.

Jack’s Keyblade crackled with electricity as he rammed through the Bandits and Luna Bandits remaining, swinging with a wave of electricity as his Shocking Blitz first struck around him, creating an electric shield that blocked whatever flank was left unchecked. Aladdin followed his attack with a dance of his own, finishing the enemies in front of them.
Kujo’s assault in unison with his guardian finished the two Heartless he’d engaged, and even though he’d healed the damage he’d taken, M’Lyn scowled. With her bow and arrow still clutched in her grip, her aim continued to stay true, although a clear annoyance in her face would indicate her opinion on the man’s approach.
“Even if he’s stronger, he’s far too reckless…” she thought, bitter.
Oh, well —that would be an issue for later. Switching the bow for a staff, the Miqo’te aimed a Ruin II spell at one of the Crimson Jazz, the light bullets aiming true and sending it adrift. Jack followed the spell with a Thunder III of his own, the thunderbolts attacking the same enemy M’Lyn had targeted, defeating it while releasing a heart-shaped light. The Keyblade shimmered in his hands, almost as if it reacted to something, but it was still to faint to make anything out.
It just left 1 Heartless to defeat —something easily done. M’Lyn readied herself to support Kujo’s reckless assault, only waiting to bop him in the head afterwards with her staff in reprimand. Jack’s blade remained in his hand, wary of the Crimson Jazz as it readied another fire spell. The fireballs took off, aimed towards Kujo sensing it to be the bigger thread. Honing onto him, they looked to attack and stop his charge.
Crash! The fireballs were blocked suddenly as the Topaz Carbuncle joined the battle. The golden critter created a barrier in front of Kujo, blocking the Heartless’ attack almost completely, its Glittering Topaz ability making sure Kujo wouldn’t sustain any more damage.
“I better get a thanks for that later, you hear?!” M’Lyn demanded, “Dumb Hyur…” “…The hell’s the last one s’pposed ta mean?!” Jack grinned, amused.
It was one thing to see M’Lyn flustered, but one far better and amusing was seeing the Miqo’te retort with clear bitterness.

With only one glance across the dark battlefield, Kujo could see their fight was almost over. Honing in on the remaining Crimson Jazz, the man’s eyes narrowed as the two fireballs came his way. Annoying. He hated magic. At least, when it was used on him. With his Akogare in front of him, the man aimed to use its speed to try and dash through the collision—only to be halted in their tracks as a loud Crash! resounded through the cavern. Protected by the golden summon, Kujo blinked in mild surprise before glancing over towards the Miqo’te. ”I better get a thanks for that later, you hear?!” Her comment brought a smirk to the man’s face as he continued his charge.
Leaping through the air, his translucent guardian at his side, Kujo and Akogare mimed each other as they aimed a direct kick at the Crimson Jazz, hoping to knock it out of the air. Once prone, the man’s guardian would rain down with a flurry of blows nearly too fast to see, a battlecry escaping its hollow throat. Once the job was done, Kujo would turn towards M’Lyn, a somewhat faint smirk still on his face as he tossed out a brusque yet lighthearted jab. ”You got a trick up your sleeve for everything, don’t you?” The woman’s abilities were most likely the largest asset to the team, combat wise. She was a weapons master, after all—able to provide any role needed.
Come to think of it, he had mentioned to Alice that he’d make more of an effort, when it came to the team… ”Thanks.” It was gruff, one word mostly grumbled out—but it had been one of the few times the man had offered such words to anyone. As if to shoo the apology out of existence, Kujo waved a hand before turning and glancing further down the corridor. He wasn't sure if that'd stick. It felt weird. Our target’s just ahead, huh? Good. It was time for them to grab the Princess, the tiara, and get the hell out of his Heartless infested cavern. Glancing down at his expensive name brand sneakers, the man scowled.
Tch. Damned pests. They were always messing up his shoes. It was no wonder he was always so bitter and angry when fighting them. Sighing a bit in mild annoyance, Kujo didn’t bother to ask if the others were ready—it was now or never. With his hands in his pockets and his Akogare still hovering at his side, acting as though a lantern in the darkness, the stoic man stalked ahead—ready for whatever may be waiting for them in the dark…

“Where, pray tell, do you think you’re headed?”
The Miqo’te’s growl echoed through the damp cavern as she stomped her way towards Kujo, still not dismissing the staff in her hand. Closing her distance to the man, she took no time to bonk Kujo in the head with the wooden staff, her annoyance clear. Jack blinked a bit at the sight, only able to muffle a chuckle with little results, and Aladdin looked in confusion.
Was that… A normal interaction?
“Really now…” M’Lyn berated Kujo, finally dismissing her staff and the Topaz Carbuncle, “Even with all of that power in your grasp, you’re still far too reckless… Is this pushing your limits, or just playing around?” “Never thought you could worry so much, M’Lyn…” Jack snickered amused. “Pardon? Last I checked, I also worry for your wellbeing as well as Alice’s.” “O~kay, then lemme rephrase it…” the teen corrected himself, “I never though you could worry this way… Usually you just keep your distance and say somethin’ smart.” “Tch…”
M’Lyn glared, although it didn’t phase Jack too much to make him flinch. Instead, he got quickly back in gear, heading deeper into the dark. The path was light with torched, somehow still burning with their orange light the sole path ahead. Aladdin was alongside Jack, only looking forward as he tried to make out figures in the darkness.
The corridor expanded into a single open room, well-lit thanks to the many candles and torches hanging by the wall. At the center of it all, the figure of a person laid unconscious on the ground. A woman around Aladdin’s age, with long black hair tied in a low ponytail and tan skin. Her outfit, a light-blue color, was much fitting for the climate outside the cavern —a crop top and baggy, loose pants. Besides her was a golden lamp, thrown across the room with little care.
“Jasmine!”
Aladdin rushed head-first to aid the woman, leaving the trio behind. Jack simply watched, suddenly perking up and looking above with a shocked expression. He rushed after Aladdin, calling onto the blade of light that was granted upon him, swiftly catching up to the street-rat, pulling him back and blocking a pole from the enemy that lurked near.
M’Lyn’s ears had twitched a second too late, but was ready to support the group as the battle surged forth. The Heartless that Jack had parried the attack from was a large, monkey-like Heartless, with fire burning brightly at the top of its head, and uncanny agility as it moved back from the Key-bearer.
“Dumbass —look where you’re goin’!” Jack berated Aladdin, yet the worry in his voice was evident. Readying himself in a poised battle stance, Jack locked eyes with the enemy, “Get her out of harm’s way —I’ll buy you time!” “…Right!”
As Aladdin slipped by, grabbing Jasmine and taking her out of the battlefield, Jack readied himself for the Heartless’ attack. The Miqo’te was ready with a rod in hand, her stance ready to shoot forth a barrage of spells.
“I hope you two know how to behave in these situations” M’Lyn sighed, “For the love of the Twelve, don’t do anything stupid or reckless this time!” “Won’t be doin’ that now —not when we’re close to the actual thief!” Jack grinned, ready for battle.

M’Lyn’s growl brought Kujo’s pace to a halt, a curious expression littering his face as he raised a brow and turned to face the Miqo’te. Seeing the woman close the distance with her wooden staff—the man withheld his guardian, using his willpower to enforce its stillness as the staff lashed out. Bonk! Wood thudded against hard head as Kujo gave a good humored sigh, the hint of a smirk playing on the corner of his mouth. ”Really now…” He wasn’t used to her berating him, this being the first time. ”Is this pushing your limits, or just playing around?” It had been some time since he had used his own two hands. His Akogare typically handled everything…it had reminded him of then.
He had gotten too caught up in the sensation. Grimacing a bit as he scratched at the back of his neck, Kujo recalled a similar instance that had happened back in that swamp. Some may consider it overestimating his limits, but truthfully most fights simply bored the man. It was rare for him to get worked up, and when it finally happened it was a rush like no other. A bad habit of his, essentially. It had been his first time facing those Heartless…he had been eager to test his strength. As the group got back into gear, Kujo left his Akogare by his side, allowing it to follow him silently as it glided through the air on translucent wings.
Though he hadn’t needed the torchlight, as everything his guardian saw he saw, Kujo appreciated the torches. It signified that someone else had been using this cavern for some time. Most likely plotting and waiting until their moment rose… Entering the single room, Kujo’s eyes narrowed at the sight of the young princess laying on the ground. Tch—a trap. It wasn’t like there was any other directions to go in, though. ”Jasmine!” Sure enough, his hunch had been correct—it was indeed the missing princess. As Aladdin rushed forward, Kujo scowled, already knowing what would happen. Jack was quick to move, summoning the bizarre ‘key’ of his as he deflected the oncoming attack aimed for the local.
”Dumbass—look where you’re goin’!” Jack’s reprimanding caused Kujo to smirk for a brief moment. They were really thinking alike today. The large monkey-like Heartless was one Kujo had never seen before—but their earlier experience allowed him to quell his eagerness for battle. The man was stoic, calm and collected as he walked to where Jack and Aladdin defended against the large demon. While Aladdin tried to slip by in order to rescue Jasmine, Kujo made it to Jack’s side, him and his Akogare ready to aid in the assault. ”I hope you two know how to behave in these situations.” M’Lyn’s comment caused Kujo to roll his eyes a bit, his faint smirk returning as he glanced over his shoulder and offered a mild grimace.
”Should’ve known you wouldn’t let me live it down easily.” That hit had been way too light. He should have known. While the man stood calm and collected, the shimmering guardian at his side would rush forward, aiming a flurry of insanely quick punches directly at the enemy. His true goal was to make it block—aiming to shatter the large staff it wielded to force it into hand-to-hand combat. With his limited range, it would be a hassle for Kujo to allow the agile Heartless to keep such a beneficial weapon.
