M’Lyn flinched, spotting the rare sight of disbelief on Kujo’s face —a similar disbelief back when he learnt about the worlds outside his own, and the moment where he couldn’t believe the Miqo’te’s ears were the real thing, and not an imitation. While it was a rather bitter thought at the moment, she pushed past it, having forgotten about what she knew regarding the worlds outside.
She’d never had to explain that —not to the siblings, and not to anyone. Elena was the only one who knew the detail, being from another world as well, but the fact that the group remained together for the most part meant that knowing about the time laws was unnecessary.
Maybe that would have to change, later.
”Hm…so, each world has its own time laws.” M’Lyn nodded at the man’s ascertainment, seemingly coping with the idea quickly. And just as quickly, he seemed to scheme a plan of his own —one the Miqo’te could only afford being curious at. She shook her head at the next question, with the answer being an obvious one. She didn’t know how much time it had been —who was to say that the things she knew about were still there, or gone forever?
A lot could’ve changed —or very little.
”If we could go, would you?” She blinked a bit, having a bit of trouble recalling about Kujo’s powers, although he reminded her quickly enough. The prospect was tempting, bringing her into thought. If they could locate Y’shtola… Could they really have the upper hand against their current enemy?
“I won’t deny it —the idea is tempting…” M’Lyn nodded in thought, “But we don’t know where it is. Can you really take us there, without knowing its location?”
“And regarding time… We don’t know how it’ll flow there” she proceeded, “I’m not planning to doubt you —there’s so much we know, and so much we can do. The fact that we can travel temporarily thanks to your power does save us some hassle, but doesn’t solve the fact that time flows differently…” M’Lyn’s skepticism brought her to an idea to solve that issue, “Now that I think about it… The Brigade’s communications are impressive —they work even worlds apart. So, couldn’t we keep in touch with how much time’s passed here, through someone?”
But who? Alice was focused on her part of work, and stressing her further was hardly something the Miqo’te wanted to consider. The other two options were Jake and Lid, given that they too knew of the worlds outside. Melissa was also an option, but an unlikely one —the woman couldn’t communicate with her voice anymore, despite the infallible ally she’d become in such a short time.
Eventually, she shook her head with a hint of amusement, her arms crossed as she went through the options. It wasn’t a bad plan at all —having the chance of getting information that otherwise they couldn’t have access to.
“I’m up for the task —on one condition” M’Lyn nodded, “I think you would’ve come up with this as well… But we need to have someone here keeping track on how much time we’re spending. Otherwise… No one can tell what might happen —for all we know, going now would be pointless. We need to be aware of how much time passes here, compared to how much time passes in Eorzea. Do we have a deal?”

”I won’t deny—the idea is tempting…” Despite the initial statement, M’Lyn still seemed somewhat hesitant. Understandably so, considering the vagueness of the situation and Kujo’s abilities. She was also right in the fact that depending on how time flowed differently, they’d want to make sure they still had some means to check the time of Milennia. ”Now that I think about it…the Brigade’s communications are impressive—they work even worlds apart.” With a faint smirk, Kujo nodded. It seemed she was warming up to the idea rather quickly. ”I’m up for the task—on one condition.” Hearing the condition, he was hardly surprised, having agreed with the idea himself. ”Do we have a deal?” With another nod, Kujo’s eyes flared with a glint of new determination. ”Deal.” He was ready for whatever would come next, especially if it meant giving them an advantage or information about what was going on. That being said, the man was uncertain about who to give such a task to. With Alice focusing on her own work to aid the team, and Jack recovering from their failure of before, it wasn’t like they could ask Elena, of all people. No, she’d most likely be against this.
They’d have to choose someone who could keep a secret. Someone low-key with lips of steel. ”Know anyone who isn’t talkative?” Though he’d been aided by Usher before, it wasn’t like he could wholeheartedly trust the guy with a secret spin-off mission. Though he’d fought alongside Jake already, it seemed the gunner had a certain level of respect for Elena that led Kujo to believe he wouldn’t find the request agreeable. Lid, maybe? Though he didn’t know the woman too well, she seemed to keep others in line, all while conducting her own work for the Brigade and Raven. In that sense, wasn’t she one of the more reliable options, so far? Truthfully, he’d thought of Melissa as well, though he wasn’t sure if the woman would be able to communicate effectively via the devices they used.

Nodding back, M’Lyn seemed convinced by the plan they had come up with. Kujo agreed to the condition, although most likely he’d considered that himself —details like those hardly passed under his scrutiny. It was a trait the Miqo’te could appreciate, being similar to that trait herself.
Unfortunately, the man didn’t know who to entrust this secret with, coming up with a blank on the candidates. Alice and Jack were a no-go, and most likely Elena would be against it as well. Jake was an option, but he had things to take care of on his end, particularly about Raven’s whereabouts and situation. Not knowing about Jack’s previous unit members, it wasn’t like M’Lyn could suggest them to help, and Melissa, although a reliable ally, couldn’t help them with the current task.
That only left one person.
“Lid’s our best bet —despite the fact that neither of us don’t know her well” M’Lyn suggested, “But we can’t be picky with these options. Since she’s the only one we can try to rely on, it’s the only option we can get. Although…” the Miqo’te looked thoughtful for a second, “I do believe she’s someone we can trust without worries. Doesn’t she get along with Jack?”
She left the question in the air, before making her move. Making her way to the Lab, where Lid was certainly at, M’Lyn didn’t want to take any more time in getting this plan, instead wanting to get it on the move as soon as possible.
Right now, they had to rely on Lid’s cooperation.
“And, that’s why we’re here.”
Finding the mechanic in the Laboratory, doing her work with diligence, the Miqo’te minced no words as she explained the current situation. As for Lid, she’d crossed her arms after hearing the explanation, nodding every now and then in understanding.
She understood why she was being chosen for the task, knowing that Alice, although reliable on her own right, would most likely be stressed by the task. The girl could only take so many blows before she broke down, after all —and thankfully, everyone understood that. After taking some time to think, she nodded, willing to help if only a little.
“Sure, why not?” Lid replied, “I’m not exactly fond of keeping others in the dark —particularly Jake—, but at the same time, I get why you’re askin’ me to do it.” “So, we can count on you?” “Hell yeah —anythin’ to help out!” the girl added with pride, standing up, “I can easily pass it off, too! Since most of the time I’m cooped up here or doing maintenance work through the facility, it’s just a matter of keeping you guys in line, right? Through the comms.” “You have my thanks” M’Lyn nodded back. “Mind handing over the comms for a bit, though?” the mechanic’s question caused the Miqo’te to tilt her head in confusion, “Y’know —those comms are connected with Navigations currently. If we want no one to tamper with this little chit-chat… I’ve gotta change the resonance. It’s easy —shouldn’t take a minute!”
Nodding once more, M’Lyn took her comm off her ear, handing it over to Lid. Once Kujo did the same, the mechanic girl would get to work, changing where the signals remitted. In just a few seconds, making quick work of the task, she would hand them back over, a smirk written in her expression —cheeky, fitting her actual age, as well as her enthusiasm to lend a hand.
Lid placed her own comm over her head, hidden in part by her short red hair as well as the goggles she had over her head, while M’Lyn placed hers back where it belonged. Looking at Kujo and giving him a nod, she didn’t waste any more time.
It was time to get going.
“I’ll make sure to keep track on how things handle here —so I’ll keep you two posted” Lid ensured, “If I tell you to come back, you’ll come back, right?” “If us being not being here poses a problem… We should.” “’Kay. Good luck, then!”

”Lid’s our best bet—“ It seemed Kujo and M’Lyn were indeed on the same page. Though neither of them knew the engineer too well, they knew they had a friendly history with Jack and Alice, at least. Having already been to the woman’s lab with the teen, Kujo had a good idea of where they’d be able to find Lid. Following M’Lyn, the two would make quick work navigating the many hallways in the HeadQuarters until they would emerge upon the place. Allowing M’Lyn to do most of the talking in terms of explaining their idea, the stoic man was silently relieved to see that Lid would cooperate. "Hell yeah—anythin’ to help out!” The engineer’s sudden enthusiasm caused Kujo to raise a brow, a faint smirk appearing for a brief moment before he shook his head and rolled his eyes. ”Mind handing over the comms for a bit, though?” Lid’s question caused both him and M’Lyn to pause in temporary confusion (or in his case, suspicion). ”Those comms are connected with Navigations currently.” Her explanation was more than enough to immediately get both on board, handing over the devices without complaint.
”I’ll make sure to keep track on how things handle here—“ Giving Lid a nod, Kujo gave his gruff agreement to return upon notice. It wasn’t like he intended to abandon the team, especially with Jack in his current state. Everything he was doing was for them, in his own way—though his own revenge did also play a part in his determination. Once Lid would bid them farewell, Kujo would lead M’Lyn out of the lab and into a secluded area within the halls. ”Alright. Let’s go.” With everything set up, the man’s gaze was focused and serious. They didn’t have much time to spare, so if this venture was going to be fruitful, they had to act quick. With a bursting ray of light, Kujo’s Akogare emerged, it’s armored hands ripping into the space around them as it tore open a pathway of radiant light.
Pausing for a moment, the man grimaced as he held out a hand to the Miqo’te. When he and Alice had used his power, she’d grabbed onto him—but it had made him wonder if contact was needed. Not being sure, Kujo gave a look mixed between mild annoyance and discomfort, grumbling as they prepared to venture off of Milennia. ”Come on.” Once set to go, the two would walk through the tear, they would find themselves leaving Milennia, in search of Eorzea…

With the two now gone from the Lab, Lid returned to her usual work —although the comm neatly hidden by her side was an added challenge for the mechanic, having to keep the small mission secret from everyone as she went along with her things. If it was her, then playing it off while not acting out of line would be easy.
It helped that her personality was overall spontaneous at times, and easy to irritate —something no one would see as unusual.
M’Lyn followed Kujo out and into a secluded area of an empty hallway, where his Akogare opened a passage for them to walk through. Being her first time seeing the ability, the Miqo’te blinked a bit, but was quick to return to her usual expression, her arms calmly crossed over her chest and the tail swaying just as calm.
The following gesture did catch her for surprise —although instead of shock, M’Lyn drew a faint smirk. Despite the urgency of it all, it was an opportunity she couldn’t pass.
“How gentleman-like of you, Kujo…” she said, glancing his way with a smirk, “Didn’t think you were that worried…”
Despite the jab, M’Lyn didn’t show hesitation, grabbing onto the hand immediately, and crossing the tear of light, leaving everything behind in search for a world whose location was unknown to the two.
Was it going to send them to the world they chased after, or was it going to spit them elsewhere? Only time could tell…
