Nexus made his way towards the darkness of the underworld. He had a grand plan in the works and needed the help of the lord of the underworld, Hades. It seemed a bit dark and musty, but that seemed to be expected when one was underground. It took Nexus a few minutes to adjust from the light above to the darkness of the underworld. The Underdrome shone brightly in the distance and for a brief moment, Nexus wanted to have his tournament there, but remembered that this was Hades' underworld and he wouldn't have control of the tournament. He made his way through the passageways and corridors of the underworld, finally standing in the doorway leading to Hades' chamber. Nexus thought a moment on how to propose his idea without losing anything himself. Finally figuring a way to word his master plan, he entered the room. It was quite large, or from Nexus' perspective. "Lord Hades," Nexus began, "I am Nexus and I have a proposal that I think would benefit both of us." "Wait a minute, you want to make a deal with me?" Hades asked. "This should be interesting." "I am in need of a soul to portray the White King, for I am the White King. I am holding a tournament above and need a puppet, a soul, to be the king while I compete." Nexus explained. "Ok. And what's in it for me?" Hades asked the strange man. "I will allow you to take any soul that loses in my tournament." Nexus said, "With the exception of my own." "Interesting." Hades took a moment to think it over. "On the condition I take ANY soul that competes, including yours, if you lose." Nexus thought it over a moment. He hadn't considered the possibility that he would lose. "I'll take your offer. You may not interfere with the tournament in any way." Nexus held out his hand towards Hades. "Deal." Hades shook Nexus' hand and sent him back to the entrance of Colosseum. Nexus saw where he was and made his way back up the stairs towards the light.
Nexus encountered no resistance trying to get into the Colosseum. He took a look around and saw there was plenty of space to make attacking effective, even with his kusarigama at ten feet long. There was a figure in the middle of the arena. He wore an ornate crown of white, which stood almost one and a half feet tall, with the five points towering above the figure’s head. The figure’s robes and long cape were also white. The cape was lined with white fur that gave the figure a regal look. Upon looking at the figure’s mouth, it looked as if his mouth was sewn shut. “That must be to keep him quiet.” Nexus observed as he noticed the figure’s mouth. “Now to get the invitations sent out.” Nexus made lots of invitations to entice any strong fighters to join the tournament.
The White King invites you to take part in his tournament. Join at your own risk, for there will be many strong opponents for you to test your skills on. You may fight a rival, friend, or even your mortal enemy. No entry fee is required. A prize of ten thousand munny and a special gift from the White King himself will be given to the winner of the tournament. If you wish to attend, meet up in the Colosseum. You must present this invitation to join in my tournament.
Nexus took the time to read over the invitation and thought it satisfactory enough to attract strong fighters of which to recruit into his army. All he had to do is wait for the participants.

((Sorry for the long post, but I so rarely have my characters interact that it usually turns out like this.))
The first to arrive would come falling out of the sky dramatically, leathery wings spread wide as he prepared to land. A cloud of dust and sand rose up as he landed on the outskirts of the arena. He wore a silvery-grey robe, but as his feet touched the ground, it shifted color to a strange tan, with purple patterns along its edges. As he mantled his wings, he pulled back the hood from his face, revealing onyx-black skin and blood-red hair and eyes.
Or perhaps he wasn't the first, as a joyful laugh rang through the air. I was hoping I would see you here! From a yellow hexagon-like portal emerged a suit of white-and-gold armor, adorned with small wing-like decorations on the wrists and ankles. The boots were shaped like talons, and the hands were clawed. On the helmet was a stylized-depiction of an eagle's head, and from the back of it sprang forth glowing blue lines, looking like long hair running down to the middle of the suit's back. You will not be able to escape a fight with me this time. The dark figure turned to look at the armor. "Liralis." He greeted her. He held up one finger, pointing to a section of the arena. "Hold on, someone else I've met arrives."
Two crystal statues of dragons appeared out of thin air, forming a gateway. Rainbow energy surged between them to complete the portal, and out walked a gray-robed figure. The tall, skinny warrior seemed almost graceful as he stepped through the portal, peering about the room with his bright-green eyes. Underneath his raven-black hair, a crystal gem shone on his forehead. The gate vanished, as his eyes locked onto the onyx-skinned man, and he strode forth to them. "Xero."
Xero nodded at him. "Cystral, was it? You seem different."
"I am, Champion. Compliments of the same thing that gave me this." He held forth a hand, and a translucent Keyblade appeared. Xero nodded gravely. "Please, though, Cystral is no longer my name. It is Prythian."
"Well met, then, Prythian. I am no longer the Champion, though. I was freed from that 'honor' a while back."
Liralis's helmet snapped up. Are you no longer the bearer of the swords? Much power was contained within them.
Xero turned to the living armor. "No longer sword-wielder, but I draw my strength from the worlds. Don't worry. I still have enough power for a great battle." His mouth twisted in a wry grin. Meanwhile, Prythian and Liralis were eyeing each other. They had seen each other before, but not managed to interact. "Enough of this. I assume you two are here for the same reason as me."
"The tournament." Prythian and Liralis replied at once.
"I thought so. Be careful, and not just in battle. This world... it shivers in either anticipation or fear. I cannot tell which. If this is a trap of some sort... I will need your help. But for now, we are competitors. Let's go turn in our invitations." At once, the three of them strode over towards the white figure in the middle of the arena. Xero and Prythian pulled out their invitations from hidden pockets inside their robes, while Liralis summoned hers forth from a yellow portal.
None of the three were necessarily allies with each other, but some of them had helped each other in the past and all had seen the others fight at some point. Each of them, at least, respected the others.
Only time would tell if that was important or not.

A dark portal opened up near the gates of the coliseum, and a medium height male wearing a white and black one piece emerged from the darkness, silently approaching the doors leading to the coliseum entrance. He didn't even pay any mind to the noisy individuals, walking into the lobby of the coliseum without waiting for an invitation. Entering the main gates of the coliseum, the boy looked around curiously "This must be the Olimpus Coliseum..." The boy looked at the seats surrounding the coliseum two yellow circles piercing through the black bandage blocking his eyes from view.

Seemingly coming out of nowhere, Nexus was at the figure's side. He wore all white, with the exception of the gloves and boots, being black. Nexus had a pair of kusarigama wrapped around his arms, leaving just enough length to give his arms free range of motion. He took a look at the challengers, taking careful time to analyze them to the best of his abilities. A being with onyx black colored skin wearing tan colored robes, a seemingly living suit of armor of white and gold, and a tall, skinny person wearing grey colored robes, each walking towards the figure of the White King. Having good hearing he caught a few words from their conversation, though heeding none of the words. Nexus' attention was focused on the strange weapon that the grey robed person was showing off.
Damn! This is very unexpected, not in my calculations. Nexus thought as a bit of panic, or something resembling fear, shown on his face for a brief moment. This could ruin everything. I'll never get a Keyblade Master to join my ranks.
Nexus quickly regained his composure and took his role as the White King's adviser. Nexus approached the three that showed up in the Colosseum.
"I am the adviser to the White King," Nexus paused and motioned to the figure in white standing in the middle of the Colosseum arena, "And on his behalf, I welcome you to the Tournament." Nexus ended with a slight bow. "May I have your invitations?" Nexus asked as he held out his right hand.

Prythian handed his over, smiling. "I look forward to the battle. I have some newfound strength I'd like to test out."
I would've tested your strength outside of this tournament, but this way we'll see the strength of many people. Including some who have preferred to hide their strength until necessary. With a side glance at Xero, Liralis placed her invitation into Nexus's hand as well.
Xero simply gave his to Nexus silently, red eyes intently staring at him. Without even a word of greeting, he stepped back, continuing his inspection. If he had an opinion on what he saw, he gave no sign. "I presume that once more people arrive, we will learn how you will set up the brackets." He said finally, no emotion in his voice. "Three people is hardly enough for a tournament."

The boy noticed a strange man beckoning him over and saw the somewhat regal figure next to him, figuring that must be the white king the invitation mentioned. When requested, he handed his ticket to the advisor, the yellow spots on his blindfold looking at the red-eyed individual, speaking in a cold, monotone voice "Who said you three were the only ones that were competing?" He eyed the other two as well, unimpressed. But then again, nothing really impressed him, considering he didn't care enough to bother taking interest at all. It was a miracle he even took interest in this event, only joining because he thought it would get him closer to his main target.

Nexus took the invitations. He looked at the newcomer and immediately assumed that he was blind. Nexus looked at the board above the entrance to the Colosseum. He noticed he forgot to set ground rules. The White King held a sheet of paper and a writing quill.
"If you are to enter, you must sign this waiver, which the White King is holding, stating that the White King is not responsible for loss of limb or life if you do enter the tournament." Nexus said. "On another side note, the White King has allowed myself to participate in this tournament, so you four aren't the only ones to be competing. You may take any part of the arena to train to your hearts content." And I'll be collecting data on how to defeat you all easier. "The White King will take any invitations you still have. Good luck to each of you."
Nexus walked towards the far left corner of the arena, nodding to the soul to take invitations. He began posting rules for the tournament on a large board, all the while listening for the sounds of the others training. He has a ready supply of elixirs for the beginning of the tournament, in case anyone needed to regain their power.
1. No killing an opponent. There are other moments when you can kill each other, just not here. 2. Only one item is permitted in the fights. Those included in this rule are potions, ethers, and ability augmenting items.
Nexus posted the board and set off to begin his own training. He started with small bolts of lightning shooting from his hands, towards some non conductive rocks and shattered them easily. Nexus then unraveled the chains from his arms and grabbed the the sickle ends of the kusarigama and began slashing and defending as if he was fighting against an opponent. He stumbled a bit upon the chains.
This should throw them off. I should appear weak to them. Nexus thought. Though if I have to fight close combat, I am screwed.

"If you'll open your ears, I was asking about others arriving. I never assumed there would only be the three of us." Xero stated, looking at the newcomer. Someone he didn't know... good. He had been starting to suspect this was a trap of some kind. That being said, it still could. He sighed, unfurling his wings, and flew over to the far edge of the arena, leaning against the wall. He would simply observe. His own powers were... not safely usable in training conditions. As he relaxed, he communed with the world, feeling the pulse of its life beneath his bare feet.
Prythian, meanwhile, turned to the boy. "Hi! My name's Prythian. Good luck in the tournament!" He went over to his own corner of the arena, near Xero. Liralis drifted that way as well, floating through the air. "Hey, uh, armor girl... care to help me train? I need one of those orbs you use as a target of sorts. You just need to try and dodge my attacks. Willing?"
The name is Liralis, boy. She said. I have no need to train for this event, so why not, though? You and I shall test our strength against each other soon. I might as well see if it's truly worthy of a fight. With that, she took off her helmet, and eighteen colored spheres flew out of the inside of her armor. Six red, six blue, and six yellow, they began hovering around her. All except one red one, which flew to about three feet in front of Prythian.
He immediately summoned his Keyblade to his hand, lowering it in a two-handed grip to the ground... before striking forwards in a swift motion. Water rose up along the blade as he swung it through the air, coalescing into a large blast that shot towards the red orb. Immediately, the red orb moved out of the way... or so it seemed, the water rapidly changing direction to continue homing in on the sphere.
As the orb and blast began weaving back and forth through the air, Prythian flew into the air, wind ruffling his clothes as he began to intercept the orb. Liralis's mental control of it just barely moved it out of the way as the Keyblade swung at it. This was his training; seeing how well his powers worked together.
His natural connection to the elements has strengthened with that Keyblade. Xero noted as he watched. Wind manipulation for flight and that water attack... it has much in common with mine. He's grown since I last helped him.

The boy didn't acknowledge what Xero said, nor did he bother approaching anyone to partner up for training, uninterested in anything social if he could avoid it. He walked over to a shady corner of the arena, near the metal barred gate leading to who knows where "Typical…He isn't here…Probably consorting himself with some native in a different world..." He observed the one who was swinging a keyblade around, but ignored him. He then looked at the king's advisor, muscles on the side of his mouth twitching as he observed that clumsy display with his kusarigama *What is that klutz even doing here, he trips over his own weapon of all things…Pathetic...* He crossed his arms and waited for the first matchup to begin, paying little mind to anyone who may have joined after the advisor's introduction.

Nexus looked towards the two training, stopping his own. He noticed the eighteen orbs and stared at them, trying to get some insight on their purpose. Nexus noticed that they were used for training, or at the least a but of confusion. He wished to analyze them more, but he noticed that two of the participants were fighting. He also noticed that two of the participants were not training. Nexus came up with an idea. Might be a good way to collect data, training with another. Nexus thought as he began collecting the chains from his kusarigama. Though it was stupid of me to show my weakness so early. Nexus finished with the chains and walked towards the remaining participants. "I seek to train with another, either of you wish to spar with me?" Nexus asked.
(Sorry for short post, but it will get better as I begin fighting)

The boy noticed the clumsy advisor approaching and walked over to the opposite side of his shady area of the arena, ignoring Nexus' request and dismissing him just as easily "Not interested…Go train elsewhere…" His voice once again was cold, and emotionless, almost lifeless in demeanor as he inadvertently insulted the friendly request for a sparring match. He had very little interest in fighting anyone but the one he was searching for, but now that he showed up, he was pretty much backed into a corner, and had to fight in this pointless tournament.

Xero examined Nexus for a moment as the other competitor, the one he didn't recognize, rejected the request. "Sure, but I won't use most of the powers I have. They aren't... conducive for training." Rather, I should say they aren't safe to use in any non-real fight. Xero thought to himself. Rustling sounds came from his wings as he adjusted them, pulling them as close to his back as possible as he strolled forward.
After reaching about ten feet away from Nexus, he stopped. He did nothing more than incline his head towards Nexus, taking no battle stance and readying no weapon. "It is your move." Xero stated calmly, no concern showing on his face.

Nexus realized that he didn't properly introduce himself. "Forgive my rudeness, but I forgot to introduce myself. I am Nexus." After Nexus introduced himself, he wasted no time in attacking. He fired off some bolts of lightning with such fineness that it defied the flawed, clumsy display he showed earlier. Nexus then quickly closed the gap between Xero and himself, showing off the true range of his kusarigama. As if he wielded the kusarigama all of his existance, Nexus quickly unraveling the one on his left arm and swung it in a wide arc, hoping to catch Xero off guard barely after the bolts of lightning either hit or were deflected. In mid swing, Nexus charged up the kusarigama, causing the weapon to become electrified itself. It is tempting to show off my master abilities, but I have to hold back until I fight, Nexus thought. I have to leave them something to make them fear me.

Xero's reaction was nigh-instantaneous. A large round shield appeared in his hands, the surface appearing to be a cloudy sky, and he flung it forward, the lightning bolts impacting on it as the shield flew through the air. As it clattered to the ground, Xero reached up instinctively to grab the kusarigama, gauntlets made out of a strange dark metal appearing around his hands and forearms. As his right hand closed on the blade, the electricity ran through it, into Xero's body.
He didn't really react aside from a glance at the electrified weapon. "You know, hiding your true abilities until they're needed is smart. Revealing that you were faking clumsiness too early, however, doesn't speak volumes for your intelligence." With that, his gauntlets began to glow green, as Xero tapped into the same power of earth that allowed him to endure attacks without reaction to boost the power of his attacks. Still holding onto the weapon to prevent any easy escape for Nexus, Xero crouched down and slammed his other fist into the ground, the green glow vanishing as a cone of shrapnel-like shards of stone flew at Nexus.

The residual energy from the electrified kusarigama flowed into Nexus, granting him some of its power. Nexus was in shock at the reaction of Xero. Moments later he was pummeled by the cone of rocks, not having any time to react, being so close to Xero. "So my intelligence is flawed, I'm not afraid to admit that." Nexus said. "Nobody's perfect." But the useful data I am collecting will go a long way towards defeating him in the tournament. Nexus thought, a slight grin playing on his face. Nexus thought for a moment and decided not to show off his other weakness, his Ball Lightning technique. Though effective, it would give a slight advantage if known it could be redirected back towards himself. I have to out-think him, but he seems quite intelligent. Nexus thought as he planned his next attack. "Your move." Nexus said, playing him like a chess piece, looking for any weaknesses. Nexus kept an eye out for any subtle movements to give away any patterns in his attacks.

Xero dropped the kusarigama he still held in his hands, leaving it on the ground as he backed off, considering. While he had not appeared to react to the electricity, it had still hurt; he was not invulnerable. He was just very good at not reacting to damage. But now, he faced a bit of a dilemma. He could try attacking directly and do the obvious thing... or do something unexpected. It was a shame he couldn't use his more powerful moves, but they weren't safe to use in a training sense.
Ah. He had it.
Xero held out his hands as a silvery-blue glaive appeared in it. It was a long thin pole with a teardrop-shaped blade on the end, and the metal seemed to ripple like water. Without hesitation, Xero charged forwards... at the shield still on the ground. Using the blade, he reached under it, flipping it into the air, and then used the other end of the pole to spin it rapidly and fling it like a discus towards Nexus. As it neared him, long razor-sharp icicles grew all along its edges, extending the range of the attack by a full three feet on each side, making it have about eight feet of horizontal range.
Xero waited to see what Nexus would do. His gauntlets, greaves, and glaive had also had three-feet long icicles grow along them to extend their range. In fact, for the glaive, it was as if the teardrop had simply grown outwards, and Xero's arms and legs now seemed clad in large spiky chunks of ice.

Nexus hoped it wouldn't come to this, but he had no choice in the matter. He had to show off his most flawed attack. He began creating a ball of electricity in his hands that grew in size within seconds until it fit in the palm of his hand. Nexus saw the shield was coming much faster than he anticipated and he threw the electric orbs at it, but it was too late. Nexus dodged most of the damage and the balls of electricity did nothing to the shield. The left side of Nexus' face was cut up pretty badly.
This is insane. This tournament was a bad idea. Thought Nexus as he knew he was outclassed. Will I have to use my powerful attacks to defeat him now?
Nexus stood there debating on if he should go all out against Xero, which in battle is the worst decision for any fighter.
(Sorry for the long time between posts. Having a heck of a time with different characters. One of which I wish to join here.)

Xero sighed in a disappointed manner. "Enough." He said, jamming the glaive into the ground. As it melted away into the air, the shield and gauntlets/greaves he was wearing also did so, leaving Xero looking as he had before the fight had begun. "This was only meant for training. I see no benefit out of continuing at this point. We will battle for real only within the confines of this tournament." Having said his piece, Xero turned and walked back towards the walls of the arena, ruffling his wings in a display of some emotion.
Prythian and Liralis had halted their own training to watch the match, and while no emotion could show up on Liralis's face, Prythian's was showing a bit of awe. "The elements..." He murmured. "He controls the elements so gracefully. They aren't just helping him like they do me, they're trying to anticipate his needs... I can feel it." He shook his head, the colors swirling crazily inside the gem on his forehead.

The boy watched the fight with half interest, finding the king's advisor to be, quite frankly, a joke. He dropped down from the balcony of the colosseum, passing by the advisor while speaking quite matter-of-factly "I could really care less, but I suggest you quit while you're behind, amateur. At your level, you'll be out in the first round…" As the boy passed, Nexus would be able to feel a faint, empty darkness surrounding him, as if the boy was emitting a dark aura uncontrollably.
