Even overlords needed some time to relax. Ardent preferred to spend his relaxation time in Traverse town. In fact, the only reason that he hadn't yet tried to conquer this world was that it was a nice place to relax after a day of plotting and mischief. In particular, there was a tea shop that struck his fancy in the first district. Candles lit each of the outdoor tables and lent to the relaxing atmosphere of the world. The tea was brewed fresh from fruits and leaves picked from a garden just behind the shop. And the chairs were so cushioned you could just sink into one and practically become one with the chair. It was the perfect place to relax.
In this humble little tea shop, a man who had (almost) conquered worlds, (almost) absorbed the power of kingdom hearts, (almost) become part of a league of deadly villains dedicated to taking over the galaxy... Yeah, this guy was (almost) the real deal when it came to villains. He could obliterate peasants who stood in his way with a flick of his fingers, crumble cities to dust with the pure, harsh power of light, fight on even ground with the strongest of heroes. He also really liked tea. Berry tea was his favorite. Blueberry oolong. It was sweet and fruity and pretty healthy, to boot. A man his age really needed to watch his health.
Ardentia Sanguis never really expected to meet, or talk to, or even really interact with anyone other than the people who ran the place today. But hey, things happened. People showed up. And it would be rude not to have a cup of tea with a passerby interested in talking to an old man.

Throughout the city people could see someone walking, who clearly did not belong in this world and wore clothes unlike those the inhabitants of the world wore. The clothes Jeff wore were made of a stain proof fabric of his own invention. Granted he had made it originally for others, but had decided not to sell it. Jeff knew he was in a new place that he had never been before.
This world was different from what he had expected and had some technology, but not as much as he wanted. Later he could work with what he had here and perhaps build more inventions so he could have his full equipment. His armor was only one part of his arsenal and he wore both Cosmo Links on his wrists. Later he might invent a newer and more advanced weapons system to replace the Cosmo Link once he learned more about the power possessed by the Heartless. Being able to destroy them was essential to his long term plans. Ultimately he planned on building robots, a robotic army for himself of sorts.
After all, Jeff knew he was not invulnerable, and possessed no talent of surviving nuclear explosions or similar. One day he might develop a way to do that, but for now he was as vulnerable as a mere human if you discounted the skills he had learned. Jeff entered one of the tea shops after making a 'withdrawal' from a KH Equivalent to an ATM machine with his technopathy, and said. "I'll take some Lavender Tea." Jeff slapped the munny onto the table, which was the one closest to Ardent. Once he had the tea, he moved over a table and sat down across the table from Ardent. Something about this person made Jeff suspicious.
"My name is Jeff Solaris, and you are?" asked Jeff to Ardent.

(kingdom hearts ATM XD)
Ardent had almost finished his first cup of tea when a young boy settled down across from him, watching him. "Good evening, Jeff. My name is Ardentia." He smiled politely and gulped down the last swig of tea in his cup. "But then, it's always evening here, isn't it?" He then set his cup down on the table and sat back in the chair a little. Though strangely tall, with white hair that was spiked despite his age and a white robe, he had a friendly smile and a sparkle in his eyes that had a way of putting others at ease.
This boy, on the other hand, was the picture of youth. With newfangled gadgets around his wrists and clothing made from fabric Ardent had never seen before, he was exactly what Ardent expected from the most recent generation of youngsters. "What brings you to *Traverse Town, Jeff?"

"Well what brings me here is complicated. Let's just leave it at...problems at home." Problems at home was truthful and did not reveal too much in the field of information. Revealing that his world was under attack from creatures known as the Heartless was not a wise idea. Nor was revealing that his world had not been able to put up a successful defense. This is why he was here, to search out methods of killing the Heartless so that his people could liberate their home. The people were still fighting, at least to his knowledge anyway they were putting up an effort to fight back against those monsters. So far his experiments had brought up little in the way of actual countermeasures presently.
"So tell me, do you know of anything that can kill the Heartless? Any weapon, artifact, sword, staff, hammer, or other device which causes the Heartless to flee from it's very presence?"
This question was aimed to see if there was such an item. If there was, Jeff was going to make it his goal to attempt to acquire said item, or replicate it via technology. Either one would work, as he would have what he needed. Soon he could liberate his world and remove the Heartless Infestation it possessed. Jeff was not smiling right now, as he sipped at his tea.

Well, that explained a lot. Guy was looking for something, and it wasn't a full-out conversation. He wanted to fight the heartless, much like everyone else and their mother. Ah well, he could be patient. "Heh. Problems at home. That's a new one." Ardent glanced at the boy, a knowing smile on his face. "You know, I left because of 'problems at home' at about your age. Probably not the same as your problems, but I left nonetheless. When I came back... well, there was no home to have a problem with." He was silent for a moment, and the smile on his face flickered away. For a moment, he was back there, standing over her body. His heart shattering all over again, into a million pieces that he'd never ba able to put back together. Not how it was before. Then he was back in the present, shaking his head and smiling again. "But that's not what you want to hear about. You want something to fight the blasted little black buggers."
Ardent extended a hand, palm upward, and light flowed out in little streams, wrapping around a shadow that appeared in his palm and extinguishing it."Well, light works pretty well. You know, creatures of darkness and all." The light dispersed in a flash, and he lowered his hand. "But for those not blessed with that sort of power, you'll probably have to find a keyblade." Raising both hands, he projected an image of the kingdom key. "It's a mysterious blade, told of in legends and wielded by few. They're forged from the heart, or passed down from master to student. Either way, not easy to come by, and they often bring more trouble than they're worth. But if you want to fight the heartless, it's probably the most efficient way."
Ardent settled back, a grin on his face. A couple people were looking at him weird from the images he'd conjured up, but most had seen stranger. "That the kind of thing you were thinking of, kid?"

"So the Key-Blade is the most efficient way to dispose of large quantities of them that outnumber the population of a planet and won't stay down?" asked Jeff, thinking of what he could do now that he had some information on the threat of the Heartless. "Interesting. I will need to find one of these key-blades and study them to see if science can be used to mass produce said weapon and then 'mail it' to my dimension so my former home will have the means to protect itself. Following that, I should probably seek out whatever makes the Heartless able to constantly regenerate, and disable that. My power is not light based, but over Technology. For example the Munny I came in with..." Jeff's voice lowered to a whisper. "...was not mine."
Eventually he needed to improve upon the design of the Cosmo Link. If light was one of the most effective ways to destroy heartless, he should include a light elemental laser or something into the next generation of the Cosmo Link. No, he'd build a full on suit of armor as opposed to the Cosmo-Link. Armor would be more efficient and less impractical. Plus it could hold more than the device he wore in terms of technology. The 'black little buggers' as Ardentia put it were a real menace, and real menaces needed a good beat down every so often in order to ensure they did not become....too powerful.
"How much would it cost to have you travel with me? Studying your abilities could lead to me being done with some of my inventions sooner than later. Plus with your ability to damage the Heartless easily, we could make a good team."

Ardent remained politely quiet through quite a few words. He considered getting more tea, but that would be impolite in the middle of a conversation. He almost laughed when the kid mentioned the money he had wasn't his. Boy thought he was so cool, stealing a few bucks with his powers. Naughty naughty. And yet, to be perfectly honest, Ardent kinda liked the kid. He hated darkness. Ardent could admire that.
Yet, did he really want to travel with the kid? "A bit forward, kid. I haven't fought the heartless in a long time, and I'm not interested in money. I'm not even sure how you would 'study' my powers- they aren't really conventional, and when I use them, it's not particularly easy to stand there and observe. Plus you talk a lot." He let that sink in, mulling the thought over. "The only thing you have going for you is that I hate the heartless even more than you do. And I don't want to see them take over another world."
But he was still on the fence. "I'll think about it. Tell me about yourself, son. Convince me that this is a cause worth fighting for, and I'll help you take your world back. I can't help you with a keyblade, but I'll put a dent in any heartless invasion stupid enough to come my way."

"Alright. You want me to convince you. I will." Jeff pulled out a PDA he had on his person and one of the pieces of science he had kept from his world and set up a simulation. "Computer. Run File Avariel." His computer ran a file showing his world, a gleaming utopia of advanced technology. There was no war, and no crime and the world had been at peace until the Heartless came. When they had shown up, wars had started as many people fought over how best to eliminate the infection from their world.
"As you can see my world was peaceful before the appearance of the Heartless. There was no crime, no sickness and no shortages of food. When those black little buggers showed up war started over how best to exterminate the buggers and some scientists even got the idea of stomping on them with Mechas. This did not work too well as the Heartless grew in size to equal some of the Mechas. One of them was sent with me in transit here, but I lost it. Well I'll find it eventually. If you are in, I can provide you such advanced technology that we might stand a chance. First we will need a lab of our own where I can build some of my more advanced machines. We WILL be needing an army to help us. "
Jeff then looked at Ardentia. "We'll also need to learn to work as a team, so I can learn your strengths and you can learn mine. It will help us work better together, if we know each other's strengths and weaknesses."

"It's a nice world. A bit like my own. But you realize, this is the same story that has been told over, and over, and over again." It happened so often. Heartless invaded, and the world was gone. It wasn't even unusual. "There's nothing special about your story. Nothing, really, but one detail." Ardent leaned in. "This time, you might have a chance to beat them. Has it ever been done? No. I don't think anyone has ever taken on a full-scale heartless invasion single handed and won. But You've unwittingly attracted the attention of one of the strongest light mages in the universe. I don't know how much this technology will help, and there will be plenty of risk and probably a lot of collateral damage. But if you're willing to accept that..." Ardent sighed, then stood up and stretched. Brilliant wings of light extended from his shoulders for a moment, then faded, as if they were hidden most of the time. "I will help you."

"On behalf of my people, I will not mind the collateral damage. Chances are they are still fighting back and have not completely lost...yet. With your help we can drive the black little buggers off planet. Unfortunately some of the scientists did start helping the Heartless, so we may encounter Heartless combined with mecha technology on my world unfortunately. It is so advanced in technology that I will need a lab just to build us a portal to my world. Once we go, there is no turning back until we win."
Jeff then looked at Ardent and stood up. It was a good thing they had met. Soon he would have the power he needed to drive away his enemies from off his world. The heartless would be completely exterminated. This time when he mopped the floor with them with the help of Ardent, hopefully they would not come back. If they did come back, well Jeff was going to have science made that could repulse the vile creatures by the time their strength increased enough to return.

It was very sudden, and more than a little unexpected. But one thing to keep in mind: Ardent didn't fancy himself a villain. No, he thought he was a defender of the light, and all the worlds were filled with darkness. They had to be purged of that darkness, even if it meant destruction and death. And so, in this case, although he might be obsessed with power and willing to kill for the sake of the light, he found himself on the side of another hero.
But why would that be unusual for a defender of the light? All that was left was to help this like-minded boy wipe darkness off the face of his planet. For better or for worse, Jeff had found perhaps the most powerful light mage in the universe. The problem was in how far he would go to remove every trace of darkness from the world he was saving...
((End?))
