Random Character Notes (Add anything extra here): This is an update to an existing character found in my signature link. ‘The Vagabond’ has been through quite a few significant plots and threads, and needed some reworking for what’s ahead, as well as a fresh beginning.
Character Basics
Character Name: The Vagabond
Character Age: 31
Character Species: Human
Character Pronouns: He/They
About the Character
Character Personality:
The Vagabond is a peace-keeper. Someone quick to defend the Dark and aid the Light. Laid back and somewhat aloof, the once obsessive vagrant has calmed down since losing some rather important memories (again). Hard to read, they tend not to show strong emotions around others anymore, speaking casually even in the most dire of circumstances.
Despite their want for peace and balance, the Vagabond is a cynic. They care little for faith or hope, finding more solace in facts and realities. Too many ugly truths have caused the man to believe others can’t be saved. People save themselves. It is because of this that the Vagabond is reluctant to get involved with the affairs of others, only helping out if they are willing to put in the work. He also hates goodbyes, preferring to leave without much sentiment or exchange.
The Vagabond’s main goal is to understand the complexities of heart restoration, the true balance of Light and Dark. This can cause some to question his allegiances, as to do so he must ensure neither powers truly ‘win’ or come out stronger than the other.
Character Appearance:
The Vagabond is tall and broad in frame, standing at 6’4”. Despite this, he is rather lanky and gaunt. Years of malnourishment and a nomadic lifestyle have kept him from gaining any real muscle. He has medium length hazelnut hair, disheveled and messy. It is never brushed or combed, simply pushed out of their face with their hands, going many directions in an unruly fashion. Matching his hazelnut hair is the messy stubble on his pale face, not clean enough to be considered a goatee and too patchy and short to be considered a beard. Their eyes are a washed out dull green that appears closer to gray than emerald. The only other distinct markings on the man’s body is a single tattoo beneath their left collarbone: a lavender flower (he doesn’t remember its significance.)
He also hides a Heartless Emblem on his left hand, beneath a pair of black fingerless gloves (these he salvaged and cut from Castle Oblivion). Most of the Vagabond’s features are shrouded in shadow, as he is always wearing a knee-length steel blue hooded coat, the hood hiding most of their face. Beneath the coat, the vagrant wears a faded white t-shirt with a tidal wave graphic on the front. Their olive green cargo pants are always clinking! with assorted items. Everything about the Vagabond’s outfit ignores fashion and screams practicality and comfort, down to his weather resistant black leather high-top shoes. Well, everything except the necklace he wears: a leather cord with a bright stone pendant.
The stone is a brilliant green and blue, almost looking as though the ocean itself were within…
Character Hobbies/Activities:
Before the events that brought the Vagabond to the Realm of Darkness, he had been an active gardener. Now his only "hobby" is learning more about hearts, darkness and the Heartless. The Vagabond's favorite food item is a Hi-Potion.
Battle Statistics
Character Position: Neutral
Character Spells :
Dark Barrier- Creates a sphere of dark energy around the user that blocks an incoming physical or magical attack from any direction (including above or below). Can protect the user from a ‘Stop’ spell. [4 post cooldown]
Darkra- Launches a medium sized orb of darkness that targets a single enemy up to 30m. Erupts for minor dark damage on impact. Is able to slip through most defenses and barriers by becoming a ‘shadow’. [2 post cooldown]
Character Abilities:
Dark Portal- The Vagabond can create portals of darkness, allowing him to move between worlds or within them. [Passive]
Touched by Darkness- The Vagabond is resistant to darkness, taking less damage from dark based attacks. He is also less affected by heavy pressures of darkness in environments. [Passive]
Defender- Increases defense greatly when the user's HP is low. [Passive]
Hi-Potion- Heals the user or a single ally from minor damage. [2 post cooldown][4 use limit per battle]
Sealing Technique I- Creates a ‘seal’ to limit one’s darkness potential. Suppresses ‘minor’ levels of darkness. Can also be used to create a barrier or ward to hold off weak agents of darkness. Sealing Technique II- Creates a ‘seal’ to limit one’s darkness potential. Suppresses ‘moderate’ levels of darkness. Can also be used to create a barrier or ward to hold off powerful agents of darkness. Can be dispelled or broken by larger levels of darkness or an understanding of the technique. [4 post duration][3 post cooldown]
Sealing Technique III- Creates a ‘seal’ to limit one’s darkness potential. Suppresses ‘heavy/devastating’ levels of darkness. Can also be used to create a barrier or ward to hold off deadly agents of darkness. Can be dispelled or broken by larger levels of darkness or an understanding of the technique. [5 post duration][4 post cooldown]
Character Forms/Command Styles:
Darkside- When in this form, the Vagabond will lose themselves to the darkness of the fallen heart they carry, releasing the Darkside more fully. Instead of just the arms, the whole top-half of the Darkside emerges, taking hostage of its host by wrapping them up in a cocoon of darkness. During this time, the Vagabond’s defense, power and MP will double, but they will move incredibly slowly, only able to hover and float using the Darkside’s small wings. In this form, he will be more vulnerable to light based attacks/spells and also be taking steady damage from being consumed by the darkness of the fallen heart. [Duration of 6 posts] [Limited to 1 use per battle]
Form Abilities:
1.Blightning- Calls down multiple dark bolts of lightning from the sky to strike opponents in a 9m radius area around the user. Deals minor thunder and dark damage. [2 post cooldown]

3. Dark Firaga- Launches a ball of dark flames at a single target. Travels up to 40m in distance, honing in on the target for a direct hit. Deals moderate fire and dark damage. [3 post cooldown]
4. Dark Torrent- Pummels multiple foes in a violent barrage of attacks with temporarily summoned Darkside fists. Deals heavy/devastating dark and physical damage. [1 use per form]
5. Meteor- Summons a flaming meteor from the sky that falls down on the battlefield, exploding on impact. Can break through most barrier items and spells. Deals heavy/devastating fire, dark and physical damage all across the battlefield. Also damages the user a bit. [1 use per battle]
Character Weapons:
Fallen Heart- Possessing a fallen heart within him, the Vagabond fights using the powers of darkness. Large Darkside arms emerge from his back (like wings). These are his ‘weapons’. They deal physical and dark damage.
Character Summons:
Jungle Hippo- Due to their innate pure nature, the Vagabond instantly bonded with the hippos that guard the Lagoon from darkness in the Deep Jungle. He can summon one of them during a time of need. The hippo will emerge peacefully, healing the Vagabond and his party from all damage. It leaves at the end of the same post it is summoned. [Limit to 1 use per battle]

Character History
The Vagabond once had a normal name, accompanied by a normal life. Once an ‘average Joe’ on a nameless world, the man had once even acted as a parent and sibling, doting over their younger brother, Leif. This is all ancient history to the now changed and hollow vessel. It might as well be another life-time…
It’s a dull story, tragic but all too familiar. A mundane world, pregnant with peace, suddenly devoured by the Heartless. By now, the Vagabond can’t even remember what their home looked like…only random details. A lush garden, lining a humble bungalow. A verdant forest. He thinks there may have been mountains, but he also has vague memories of an oceanic breeze?
Regardless, it was all ripped away, taken from him once he entered that place. The Realm of Darkness. Not many who’ve entered have returned. Truthfully, if the Vagabond had known the price of entrance, he would have rather stayed in his home world, sharing the fate of those he could no longer remember. He and Leif had fled when their world was taken, because he had thought it was their only option.
Yes, it was his fault. The Vagabond was the older sibling, meant to protect, and he had marched the two of them into the monster’s den itself…
The rest were just painful memories. What few the Vagabond hadn’t forgotten by now, they had tried to bury in the sand on that shore, in that realm. With his old name. He’d tried to save Leif. It hadn’t worked, though the Vagabond had at least managed to scrape together what was left. To this day, the vagrant still knows that what he did was not a kindness.
It was selfish. An act of desperation. One that had been meant to save his own fragile sense of hope, not Leif. It had all just happened too fast for him to realize that at the time… At the time, he’d really thought he’d been saving him. How pathetic.
Can there be only one vessel for two hearts?
After casting aside his name and taking on the fallen heart, the Vagabond managed to escape the Realm of Darkness. After a couple years of learning and understanding the new curse he’d taken on, the man found purpose. He was to set out and discover the inner workings of the Heartless, hearts and the darkness that plagued him. Only then could he undo all the wrong he’d done. At least, that’s how it all had started, anyway…
It hadn’t been long before the man found a report during his travels, old and forgotten in an ancient castle. It was fragmented, scattered and lost. The castle itself seemed to take pieces of the Vagabond in exchange for passage through each floor, but in return he discovered more about hearts, the Heartless and that Realm he had escaped than he had ever hoped. Continuing his mission, the Vagabond journeyed from world to world, researching and experimenting on hearts and 'World Hearts', attempting to experiment on...'livelier' subjects, in order to see if any could withstand the theories he’d unearthed. It wasn’t long before he made a handful of enemies while doing so…
Thankfully, he also made allies. Some with more power than he could imagine. Unfortunately, his journey led him back to the same Castle where he had discovered the report leading him down the path of such dangerous research. Though he had ventured back through the floors in order to finally return Leif’s heart to its original state, the Vagabond’s expedition ended in nothing but failure and with him losing more memories than before. Barely managing to survive the events, the man left the ancient labyrinth, more hollow than before. Thankfully, they at least retained the most essential aspects of the knowledge they needed to continue their quest.
He moves on now, with a more steady and less volatile approach, though it seems he lost something else in that castle…a certain fervor that had kept him going. He can barely remember anything from his old life now, or anything about his brother, whose heart he guards within his own. All he remembers is a name, a sense of importance, a duty to protect and the memory of his own failure.
