About the Character
Character Personality:
At first glance, Vasch can come off as indifferent or flippant towards most. Crushed by defeat, a once heroic ‘Master’ has fallen towards a more apathetic resolve. Thinking low of himself and projecting that onto the world(s), Vasch tends to keep others distant, finding little point in engaging with or forming new relationships. This is actually because of how important bonds once were to the man, who once held them to the highest importance. Calloused and narcissistic, Vasch can now be mercilessly ambitious when executing his goals, willing to take any path to achieve his means, though he rarely has any these days (a blessing to those around him).
Due to these traits, ‘dealing with people’ is no longer one of Vasch’s strong suits, oftentimes finding himself at a loss for words or not knowing what others are expecting. He tends to remain solitary most times, socializing only for business. If one is able to work around Vasch’s walls, they will find a vaguely sarcastic and humorous personality, with a dim glint of a goodwill long forgotten. His once noble sense of justice has been broken, creating a jaded bystander who only aids others if it includes personal gain. Some can occasionally work out whatever 'old self' is left, not that any truly know the 'old him'...
He’s become more hedonistic and selfish over the years, looking out for himself and trying to get through the day.
Character Appearance:
Vasch stands at 5’7”, with a muscular, lean build and tan skin. He has bright, medium length blonde hair (which is slowly fading into a pale silver), wavy and disheveled. There are two strands longer than the others that frame the right side of his face. His eyes are mismatched, the left being an icy blue while the right is a muddy hazel. Both are usually lifeless. His angular face is usually kept clean-shaven (his facial hair is so pale, he doesn’t bother growing it out), with a faint patch of freckles running across the bridge of his nose and under his eyes. There are two scars on Vasch’s left cheek, directly under his blue eye.
Vasch is always found wearing his dark indigo haori with green lining, the sleeves coming down to his mid-forearm. Silver star designs line the edges of the sleeves and bottom of the haori. Beneath is a white collarless button-up, casually untucked. His pants are black with patched green plaid pockets, though they are only exposed from the thigh up, tucked into knee-high armored boots.
Silver with emeralds adorned into the knee-guards, Vasch’s boots match the single gauntlet he wears on his left arm (his sword arm). Similar to the boots, the gauntlet is plated with silver armor. Vasch also wears a long necklace crafted from beads of orichalcum (varying in size), a gift from his Union Leader when he had first obtained the title of ‘Master’.
Character Hobbies/Activities: Vasch enjoys listening to music, especially Jazz. His favorite food item is shrimp tempura.
Battle Statistics
Character Position: Renegade
Character Spells (Max 5 spells, 10 spells for members with 50+ RP posts):
Pyramid- Summons a golden pyramid of magic that imprisons a single target. While within the ‘Pyramid’, the inhabitant is unable to attack or move (unless they use a 'warp' ability). The ‘Pyramid’ will break after a single physical or magical attack is dealt to the outside of it (even if it’s only beginner damage), or if it is dismissed. ‘Pyramids’ do not act as shields, or protect the inhabitant from any incoming damage. There can be multiple ‘Pyramids’ on the battlefield. The size of a pyramid can vary, adapting to the size of the target. [3 post duration/until broken/dismissed] [2 post cooldown]
Fragment- Causes the broken shards of a previously destroyed ‘Pyramid’ to rain down on an enemy. Deals beginner magic damage. [Requires a ‘Pyramid’ to have been broken][1 post cooldown]
Character Abilities (Max of 10 abilities allowed, 20 for members over 50 RP posts):
Fractured Connection- Due to his bond with the Keyblade being fractured, Vasch has lost most of his best abilities. His armor is unable to transform as well, only providing the bare minimum of dark resistance. Despite the rather mundane skillset he has, his body is still quick and surprisingly strong for an otherwise normal human, given his history of mastery. [Passive]
High Jump- Allows the user to jump higher than an average person could. [Passive]
The Lanes Between- Vasch uses his Keyblade to tap into the Lanes Between in order to travel between worlds. [Passive]
Hi-Potion- Heals the user or ally from minor damage. [2 post cooldown] [3 use limit per battle]
Strike Raid- Surrounds the Keyblade in a radiant aura before hurling it at a distant target like a boomerang. Deals minor light/physical damage. [2 post cooldown]
Vortex- Closes the distance to nearby enemies with a mighty spinning attack. Deals minor physical damage. [2 post cooldown]
Flash Step- Performs an extremely fast step attack to deliver a powerful blow that breaks through the enemy’s guard from a mid-range distance. Deals moderate physical damage. [3 post cooldown]
Zantetsuken ‘X’- Executes two, impossibly fast Keyblade strikes in a cross-slash for heavy/devastating physical/light damage. This attack can shatter barrier spells/items, but damages the user a bit. [4 post cooldown]
Character Forms/Command Styles: Vasch has lost his forms due to his fractured connection with the Keyblade.
Character Weapons (Maximum of 5 weapons allowed – members must have 50 posts before their characters may wield a keyblade):
White Dwarf: Styled like a classic ‘skeleton key’. The ‘blade’ is a rusted silver, tarnished from time and blatant neglect. The rusted key teeth form an outline of half a ‘keyhole’. The guard is a very basic square shape, with small circular indents on the inside at each corner, a pale and equally rusted emerald in color. At the end of its keychain is a pale blue star token with a green keyhole in the middle. (Due to Vasch’s severed connection with this Keyblade, it has become weakened and tends to ‘act on its own’ at times, sometimes vanishing altogether.)
Character Shotlocks:
Intrepid Stars- Small light projectiles burst forth from the Keyblade, taking the shape of stars. Blasting forward in a spiral, this attack damages any caught in its path for moderate light damage. This attack sometimes backfires, harming its user a bit. [3 Post Cooldown]
Character Summons: N/A
Character Strengths: Survival, Responsibility, Swordsmanship
Character Weaknesses: Apathy, Responsibility, Low Self-Esteem
History
Vasch was originally a Keyblade Master living in Daybreak Town. Of course, with a world full of Keyblade Wielders, there were bound to be ‘Masters’: those the Foretellers could lean on to ensure smooth operations. Gaining some renown after his first few years of being a Master, Vasch was assigned an ‘apprentice’. Typically, Wielders on Daybreak Town were guided until Mastery by their Chirithy, but Vasch’s apprentice in particular was a bit of a trouble-maker and had a fiery temper. Finally fed up, Vasch’s Union Leader had dumped the kid on him. It wasn’t all bad, though, the two found a way to get along after a short time and eventually had some sort of student/teacher dynamic set up (thankfully his pupil seemed to like learning powerful moves more than he liked arguing). Vasch spent the next three years guiding them in the ways of the Keyblade.
As a Master, Vasch knew about many of Daybreak Town’s mysteries. Many times his own Union Leader would assign him ‘secret’ assignments to aid in their underlying goals. This never bothered him, as he believed it was his duty. By the time of his apprentice’s 17th birthday, Vasch began to feel differently about his role as a Master. With the once subtle and more competitive rivalry turning into open animosity between the Foretellers, the Wielders of Daybreak Town soon found a war on their doorsteps, whether they wanted to participate or not. Wanting to protect his apprentice, Vasch attempted to talk with his Union Leader, to try and dissuade them from calling-to-arms for all out war. His pleas were denied, scorned and even mocked. Soon the debate turned into a heated argument, escalating into a battle between Vasch and his own Union Leader. He was sent to the Realm of Darkness, banished just before the war’s beginning.
Forced to battle for his life, Vasch managed to survive thanks to his power and skill. Escaping what he had thought to have been a brief detour had proved to cost him countless years. Returning to what was left of Daybreak Town, the Keyblade Graveyard, Vasch found himself heartbroken, searching for any sign of his apprentice. Finding too many ancient and rusted Keyblades he recognized set in the ground as a memorial, Vasch finally left his destroyed home world knowing that it and everyone he had cared for was gone. He shouldered the weight of each ‘grave’, knowing he had failed each and every one of them. From then on, he was a 'Master' no longer, his connection to the Keyblade fractured beyond repair.
Disheartened and tormented, the man voyaged from world to world, aimlessly living each day without thinking of the next. For a time, he worked as a merc-for-hire. Then, he did whatever odd-jobs he could scrounge together to get by. Eventually, the haggard ex-master settled down on a world full of oddities and travelers: Traverse Town. Even better, the locals hardly ever asked questions and so long as one seemed dependable enough, they even warmed up to those who stuck around long enough. Vasch is now a small business owner on the world that houses countless locals and drifters, still an odd-jobber who will take on any case if the pay is right.
He's even slowly begun to build a name for himself with the locals, though his reputation is far from perfect...
