Some would say that night is the most fearful time during the day to endure. Others would say that they live their lives in the dark, fearless enough to peak around each and every dark corner into the unknown darkness. In Kay's mind, she considered herself a cross between the two.
Thankfully, by being within Twilight Town, she had no darkness to worry about. The light was always shining here - sending an eternal bliss over the city that seemed to make it a constant drone to be there. Everything seemed to be a constant in Twilight Town - the same random tasks that were done each day, the same people, the same fights and the same bland laughter. There was nothing that sparked Kay's interest about the town, though she had been there numerous times before. Why did she continue to return?
Kay was one to blend in with the crowd mechanically. The scar she had received some years ago on her knee looked nothing above the ordinary and neither did her blonde hair. It would seem as if the way Kay received the scar on her knee was inconsequential to her life, but that was still something that Kay was trying to figure out. Little was known about her past and that depressed her slightly. She was in the present of her life, but it seemed that her past was still being written. How could you have a future without a past?
Placing her right hand on the thigh of her right leg, Kay grasped a piece of her laced white skirt within her small hand. The material was warm from her body, and she pulled the material so that it was no longer resting upon her warm skin. The laced skirt fell down to her knees in length and was great for being in a warm city such as Twilight Town. Kay wore a blue t-shirt that complemented her figure well. The blue color allowed her brown eyes to offset her face, as if illuminating it in a way. The black lashes that shrouded her eyes dropped down over top of them, closing the world up into darkness. It was easy to see how quickly the world could become dark.
Opening her eyes back up, Kay began to move throughout the city. There were mild talks of random events and every day life going on throughout Twilight Town that Kay hadn't taken the time to hear. There were people she had never seen before and would probably never see again in her life - ordinary people, just like her. Kay's brown eyes scanned amongst the crowds of people as is looking for something to pull her in - something that would keep her attention, if only for a moment; something that was greater than herself.
Turning to leave the crowded area, Kay walked down a cement flight of stairs. The stairway was cracked, but not about to crumble. A cemented railing led the way down the steps as Kay's hand trailed along it. She appeared to be entering a market of sorts; a place that she had never been.

[Don't get used to it. I don't always post that great.]
Turning her head ever so slightly, Kay's chin rested lightly against her right shoulder. Looking over her shoulder, she could easily see the people that were arriving and going from the place that she had just been. She smiled quickly; as if to indicate that she hadn't been looking at all and spotted the person that had decided to start following her. The smile that she gave could have been directed at him, though it was not intended to be. There was no way to distinguish that he had been following her, nor was there any way to tell who she had smiled at.
Turning her head once again, Kay looked upon the cracked flight of cement stairs. Her white lace skirt moved against her thighs as she walked down the stairway. She listened intently as her footsteps echoed lightly against the steps. They could barely be heard due to the other random people that were traveling up and down them. The sound of everyone's footsteps were meshing together, becoming one.
Kay removed her hand from the railing as she walked down the stairs. Looking around the area in which she had arrived, Kay smiled once more. It seemed she was in a market of sorts.
Moving out of the way, Kay watched as people moved quickly towards the train station. Everyone had their own destination it seemed; but what was her purpose in Twilight Town? Where was her destination - did she have one?
Kay closed her eyes and shook her head back and forth slowly, as if to allow her thoughts to scramble throughout her mind. She needn't think about this. Not right now anyways. Not when she was in front of a large group of people. She should keep her mind open to everything that was going on around her. It was never too late to learn something vital. Then again, what would be vital in this town?
Biting her bottom lip with her front teeth, Kay's mind drifted back on her thoughts. As she tucked a strand of her brunette hair behind her ear, Kay couldn't help but think about the past that she didn't have. She wanted to know what she could do to gain it, but she had not the slightest clue.
Allowing her eyes to scan the market place, Kay noticed a small wooden bench that was unoccupied at the moment. She half nodded to herself and went over to sit on it. The bench felt warm beneath her. No doubt the sunlight had been shining on it all day. After all, there never seemed to be a rainy day in Twilight Town.

[thanks. ^^]
Running her hands through her hair, Kay pulled strands away from her head and then dropped them silently. She felt them fall back against her head as she dropped them, allowing her body heat to stay trapped beneath her hair. Dropping her hand, she looked over as she felt a sudden weight on the left side of the bench. Someone had joined her. The person that sat beside her seemed nervous. The male acted as if he wanted to talk to her about something, though she wasn’t sure.
Kay studied him for a moment, but she didn't want to act as if she was just sitting there watching him. She opened her mouth to speak, but the male had begun to speak himself. 'Hi, names Benjamin Weston Darter, call me Darter.' Kay smiled lightly. So much for starting the conversation.
Listening, Kay nodded as he gave his name to her - Benjamin. He had asked her to call him Darter, though she didn't know if this name was as fitting for him as Ben would be. She liked the name Ben for some reason.
Still watching Ben, Kay saw him lift his suitcase up on his knees and begin thumbing through it as if to make himself appear busy. He acted as if this small talk conversation bothered him. To relieve some of the pressure, Kay began to speak.
"Hello Benjamin." She didn't call him Darter. Kay carelessly pointed her finger at the papers he was going through in his suitcase. "Are you a doctor?" Kay didn't want to seem as if she were bugging him, but more like she was asking a simple question. She could have told him her name, but she wasn't sure if she was ready to yet.
She wanted to say something else to Ben, but she couldn't think of what to say. "Do you mind if I call you Ben?" She paused for a moment. "Or Dr. Ben, if you are a doctor?" She smiled at him in a teasing way.
Kay sat there beside Ben, or Darter - he hadn't told her what he preferred yet - and looked at the crowds of people that passed by. It seemed that quite a few people were interested in a stand of potions, though she wasn't sure what for. Turning away from the crowd, she focused on Ben.

[don't worry - mine's short too. We don't have to do uber long each time. =D]
'I mean, yeah, I am a Doctor; and it wouldnt be Doctor Ben - it usualy works by last names, so thats why i'm used to Darter.' Kay couldn't help but grin at the male. He seemed to be having such a difficult time getting the words out, but for some reason Kay admired him for it. He was trying - really trying to start a conversation with her. It was obvious that this was difficult for him. Ben apparently didn't seem to start conversations such as this every day.
Allowing her grin to fade, Kay studied Ben even more. She wondered if her lack of nervousness was making him even more nervous. She didn't want to frighten him or come off as strong in a way, but she couldn't help it. She was intrigued by his simpleness.
'So, what's your name?' Kay blinked and looked down at the cement ground. A small stone pebble sat beside her foot. Studying it for a moment, she kicked it away, allowing it to be lost within the crowd of ongoing people. Kay turned back to Ben, her hands still gripped gently but firmly around the bench.
"My name is Kay." She smiled a little sheepishly as she said her name. She had never been too fond of it - then again, it wasn't as if she had been the one to pick it.
Kay looked away from Ben and studied the crowd once more. People seemed to move quickly in this town. Some disappeared quickly while others seemed to linger amongst the stores. Kay couldn't understand why someone would want to spend all their time in a busy marketplace spending munny. There were better things that life could give to people.
Turning to Ben, Kay waited for his response.

Kay could feel the sudden lock in their eyes once more. Smiling, Kay listened as Ben spoke her name aloud. It seemed almost impossible for him to say anything other than what was necessary. Kay couldn't question the man's motives because she didn't know him or them at all.
Studying him, Kay knew that he was about to speak once more. 'Its a beuti-' He trailed off. His gaze had wandered over towards a merchant's stall. Kay had walked by it before she had sat down on the bench. There were numerous people lined around the stall and Kay couldn't pin point any of them. She took notice that each of the people standing there had probably been innocent bystanders to whatever was happening in the stall. Perhaps the store owner had decided to sell a rare item.
Turning to look at Ben once more, Kay stood suddenly. He was lifting his suitcase, the one that had had so many papers in them. Before she could say anything at all, Ben had gone. Turning to follow, she had quickly arrived; blended within the group of people. Kay was looking down into the eyes of a nearly dead man. Looking to Ben once more, she could see that he had opened his suitcase. He had mumbled something under his breath that Kay couldn't quite make out. She knew that it wasn't anything good.
Kay stood there, enthralled in the blood of this man that was now spread all over Ben. He had knelt down within it. Obviously it had given him no false pretense to the situation at hand. It did not seem to bother him in the least bit. Kay allowed herself to be swallowed within the tragedy at hand. She had never witnessed something such as this.
'Water! He needs water!' None of the people surrounding the man seemed to respond to Ben's sudden demand. Turning to move, Kay nearly bumped into the young black haired woman. She grabbed a nearby bucket that had been sitting on the ground. Kay watched as the young woman ran off. She couldn't bare to watch the rest of this. Instead, she watched and waited for the black haired girl to return. Kay stood a small amount of distance away from where the circle of people stood. People were seemingly disappearing from the crowd, becoming less and less interested. Counting the seconds, Kay couldn't understand why the girl wasn't back yet. Had she tripped? Was she hurt? Where had she gone? If only she had taken the bucket and went off for water. The young girl must be frightened to know what was awaiting her; a dead father perhaps, if Ben couldn't take care of the man in time.
Finally, after a simple blink, Kay saw the girl running into the area, trying not to spill the bucket of water in her hands. Kay knew that the girl needed help, but before she could offer assistance, the girl had reached her dying father. Kay studied the girls face from a distance, watching as the mixture of sweat and tears ran down her flushed cheeks. What if the girl were to lose her father today? What if she were to never feel the same way about life?
Turning to go, Kay decided that she couldn't watch the rest of this. She felt as if something horrible was going to happen and she knew she was helpless to the situation. Kay nodded silently to herself and began to walk away. She would find Ben later and she would ask about the man; the normal man who was losing his life right before her eyes.
