Olette was walking among the streets of Twilight Town, head bowed as her wavy locks curtained her pale face. She did not need to look at the road winding before her for it was so familiar. All her life she had walked it-every day she took the same steps. In the end, it landed her in the same place.
As her yellow shoes clapped the cobblestone street her jade green eyes eagerly read the words in her book. She had it open and her pale lips moved along with the words. Little could distract her from the promising words on the page. Children raced about her, ever careful not to cause her too much alarm, people shouted greetings, and her peers rushed by her on skateboards. But she never once glanced up. Rather she murmured a soft hello and went on her way.
Where was she going? The Usual Spot actually. A place that she, Hayner, and Pence-her best friends-had dubbed their own. No one else could enter if the trio were there for Hayner pointed out that they found it and so it was rightfully theirs. Olette had insisted some time before that others be allowed to enter and then they could have more fun. But Hayner, stubborn as always, wanted to keep it like it always was. Just them and their spot-nothing else really mattered.
Olette, however, wanted a little change. As much as she loved Hayner and Pence, much more like brothers than mere friends, she wanted a slight shift in her daily routine. Never, in all her fifteen years, had much ever changed. Always it was go to school, do homework, go hang out at the Usual Spot. The only time where this remotely changed was when Sora appeared in her life, but he just as quickly vanished. She never truly understood what his journey was about-though Kairi had lavishly told her the story-and probably never would.
Suddenly her mind couldn't focus on her book. Rather, it thought of Kairi and her short visit here. Kairi was a pretty girl, fine and lovely in every aspect, and she had told a story Olette would never forget. Of Heartless, Sora and Riku, and other worlds. At first-being the logical one-she had deemed Kairi insane. As Olette knew there was no such thing as Heartless and other worlds... but as Kairi plowed on in her tale Olette found herself believing. Which was silly, for what girl believed in giant keys, talking ducks, and Doors to Darkness? Not logical ones like her! But...
Gee Olette, get a grip. She thought sullenly, shutting her book with a short whap!. She was there, before the Usual Spot's entrance. The black chain fence, torn with age, and blankets which so bravely guarded the entrance were vivid reminders of when Sora stormed into the area. She smiled as she recalled Hayner's defensive nature to the obviously puzzled brunette. Again she shook her head to clear it. Why was she thinking about all of this now? It'd been forever since Sora had last come here.
She trooped into The Usual Spot cautiously. Ever since that spiky red-haired guy in the black trench coat stole Kairi Olette has been paranoid. So sure he would appear out of a swirly portal and kidnap her too. Though, she would quickly argue, what would a dude like that need with a plain girl like herself? What use would she be? Oh yeah, she could help him with his Calculus homework. Rolling her green eyes she wondered to the tattered couch and plopped down. Yeah, something told her that guy didn't even go to school. Probably some weird drop-out or something... who can make swirly portals appear and can't be touched...
Of course, a drop-out. It made perfect sense. Placing her book on a nearby box she sat down and waited. Perhaps she waited for Hayner or Pence, maybe she waited for something to actually happen. All the same she found herself plopped down on the couch, waiting.
