The chirping of birds was a cheerful melody that greeted anyone into the open wilderness. It was a sunny day, with the sky devoid of any cloud and revealing a cheerful blue. The shade beneath the trees was large and welcoming to travelers tired in their way, still leaving a spot of light to see the gorgeous forest spread out for seemingly miles ahead. Outside of nature, though, it seemed like the place was short of any sort of civilization, instead allowing nature to thrive as it pleased.
“Hey, look at all this!”
A childish voice echoed through the trees, cheerful as it feasted on the sights around them. A blue dragon, soaring through the forest close to someone that was doing a similar thing to it —looking around, and trying to figure out where they had wandered off to. While the dragon was eager to explore, the swordsman that was his companion was a bit lost.
“Hey, Kosuke, what’s up?” the dragon asked, tilting its head a bit, “You’re not worried, are you?” “…No, but” Kosuke mumbled aloud, looking around, “This all… Feels familiar…” “Huh? Does it?” “Yeah, for one reason or another…” “Huh, then maybe you’re starting to remember something!”
Chuckling at its words, the dragon took its time to tease Kosuke, much to his annoyance. It bothered just how familiar the surroundings were to him, yet unable as he was to pin where he’d seen it before, something inside Kosuke’s heart ached.
He recalled the golden shoreline and the turquoise sea of an island lost in the distance —not lush forestry brimming with wild life. It was all so confusing, to one who’d lost his memory, and the fact that there was no help from his Familiar made it all the more annoying, but there was no one to blame.
Not even himself.
Still, after so much fighting and traveling, a peaceful glade was welcome. Walking around would discover a small pond, with a few birds resting in the low branches of nearby trees. The dragon headed there without hesitation, its playful movements scaring the birds away, but it didn’t seem to care, as their chirping continued elsewhere in the distance.
Kosuke walked closer to the pond, nearing the edge a bit. He could see his reflection in the crystal-clear water, all the way to his waist —and with that, the scarred Emblem showing faintly through his open yukata-style shirt. Ignoring the bitter sight, he looked up, seeing the dragon playing with the water, diving and then soaring in the sky, the droplets that followed creating various rainbows.
At least the sight was a welcome one. Deciding to enjoy the small peace of the moment, Kosuke sat down on the grass, enjoying the feeling as he did so. The sword in his hip clanked as he sat down, but he didn’t really focus on the weapon at his side more than the sight he was now enjoying. The quietness of the woods was a welcome one —as well as familiar. With the dragon’s cheerfulness as the only sound accompanying the chirping melody around them, it seemed like a planned orchestra. Where had he heard something like that? The scenario was all too familiar, but unable to put even a name to the place his foggy memory recalled, it was frustrating to have something like that.
“I wonder if there’s anything else I’m forgetting, other than her…” he thought, as he laid back in the grass, his hands folded behind his head as he looked towards the sky, “Before I met Tori… Was there someone else I used to spend time with? …There was, right?”

Yuto blinked as his eyes adjusted to the light. The woods were brighter than he expected, though he didn't really know what to expect. The scenery was nice, to say the least. The trees were tall and lush, the grass was vibrant, and there were flowers everywhere. He felt pretty bad about practicing here.
His teacher told him he needed to get a handle on his new skills before she sent him out anywhere. He decided that, instead of destroying the castle, he would just open a Dark Corridor to a random world and practice there. Here he was, in a random world. All he needed now was someone to practice with. Though, the man would be lying if he said he wasn't both curious and concerned by what his teacher meant by "send him somewhere."
That thought ran around his head as he picked a direction and walked, not entirely sure what he would find. Yuto also wasn't paying too much attention to his surroundings. The coziness of the forest was a sight that he wasn't used to, but it was one that put him at ease. He liked seeing worlds that were full of life and light. It made him hopeful.
He shook the thoughts off and started paying better attention to where he was. After walking for a few more minutes, the man noticed someone sitting at a nearby pond. "Um, excuse me?" He started to make his way toward the person. "You from around here? I'm looking for...well, I'm not really sure. Fun? Yeah, let's go with fun." As usual, Yuto didn't even stop to think about what he was doing, he just did it.

“C’mon, Kosuke —jump in!”
With the dragon playing to its hearts content, making splashes in the pond without a care in the world, Kosuke had little to worry. It wasn’t like Necro would do something reckless like head on its own or start drowning —it was a Familiar, after all. Hearing no reply from his Summoner, the dragon stopped, pouting a bit as it looked for the swordsman laying on the grass.
As for Kosuke himself, he was locked in looking at the sky, watching the small clouds pass by at a far distance, with the eventual bird flying from one branch to the other. He was silent and in thought, trying to find any links to the previous familiarity he’d felt, only to find nothing in his search. His expression was turning into a steady frown, unwilling to just leave his search at that.
“Dammit… C’mon —there’s gotta be something I can remember…” he thought with a grimace. “Hey… Kosuke…”
The man perked up, finally seeing Necro in front of him, his face dripping some water onto him as the dragon looked in confusion. A few moments of silence later, with more than enough drops in his face, Kosuke bolted back up, quick to wipe the water in his face before glaring at Necro.
“C’mon, pal —you can’t do that!” he berated, “That ain’t cool!” “You’re the one who was lost in thought, y’know…” the dragon replied back, “’Sides… It’s not like you to space out so much. Something bothering you?” “…” “There is, right?” “Well, yeah, but…” with a sigh, Kosuke gave up, “It’s not something you can help me with, buddy.”
The dragon deflated a bit, pouting while Kosuke decided to let the issue go —it would only hurt him further to try and remember those he simply couldn’t recall. They were long-lost memories, along those etched to his Emblem pieces now scattered —memories he wouldn’t be able to recover, ever.
The truth hurt to know, in the end. Just how many would remain forgotten in his end, because of his death? How many people had forgotten him back, after having died and come back through unknown means? The answer wasn’t one he wanted to know —not at the time.
"Um, excuse me?" A stranger’s voice broke the two from the grim focus, turning both Kosuke and Necro’s attentions on the newcomer. His nonchalant speech threw them both off-guard, but if there was one thing both Summoner and Familiar were confident was that, much like them, the newcomer wasn’t local from the world. “…Fun?” Kosuke asked, standing up to meet him, “Well… I’m not so sure how much ‘fun’ you can have in a forest…” “I do!” Necro replied, chuckling, “There’s plenty to do!” “No one asked ya, buddy.” “Hmm…” “…You’re not from this world, are you?” Kosuke asked, calmly, holding on the the blade hanging by his hip with ease, “Don’t worry —we’re from another world, too. We know the drill. I’m Kosuke. This one here’s Necro —he’s my Familiar.” “Nice to meet’cha!” the dragon greeted, waving one of its arms eagerly.

“Well… I’m not so sure how much ‘fun’ you can have in a forest…” Yuto nodded in agreement, he wasn't one for climbing trees. “I do!” The man looked over to where the second voice came from. Coming face to face with a live dragon, Yuto was at a loss for words. He'd seen a lot of things, but this was a new one.
"Yuto. Nice to meet you guys." He forced himself to come to terms with the fact that a person just happened to have a dragon as a familiar. After all, magic can do weird and wonderful things. "To answer your question, yeah. I'm from...it's not important." While his world was technically still around, he doubted if anyone heard of it nowadays. "What is important is that we're all strangers in a strange land. What's say we explore a bit?"
It made sense to him. They weren't from here and in the middle of a forest. it was only fair that they go and see what was out there. Maybe they could even find a town or something. Getting to know the locals was never a bad idea. "So, where are you guys from then?" He started walking in a direction, hoping the two would follow. "Not real common to see a, what'd you call the dragon? A Familiar? Yeah, this is definitely the first I've seen."

Kosuke nodded at Yuto’s introduction, remaining at the distance, while the Familiar was cheeky in his acknowledgement. Swiftly and playfully, Necro coiled loosing around Yuto, chuckling slightly, much for his Summoner’s annoyance.
That dragon was a bit too playful at times —especially when people that just felt trustworthy. Was that Necro showing it trusted them? Maybe.
“What's say we explore a bit?" Necro perked up at the suggestion, while Kosuke was brought to thought. Exploring didn’t sound half-bad, all things considered —it would allow them to learn about the world they were currently in. Although given that it was just an open forest, seemingly endless, Kosuke didn’t have much hope in finding anyone else aside the two travelers.
Perhaps it was just an open forest, in the end?
“I’m in!” Necro said cheerful, much for Kosuke’s surprise, “I wanna see what other things are around here!” “Necro…” Kosuke said with unease. “What? Don’t you wanna see this world, too?” “I mean, I do, but…” the swordsman looked away, “How to explain it without talkin’…” he thought to himself. “…Ah, r-right…” “Thanks, bud…” “S-Still…” the dragon pouted, “It won’t be pleasant if he goes exploring on his own, right?” “…No, I guess not.”
In the end, the two agreed on that fact. Even if it was a world unknown to them, leaving someone to explore on their own when they could team up was kind of stupid. Not only that, but Kosuke and Necro weren’t the kind of pair to leave others alone when they could help it, even if they just met.
That, plus the fact that Yuto had been nothing but pleasant, which in Kosuke’s eyes, was trustworthy.
While Kosuke nodded, walking towards Yuto with the intention of starting their exploration, he perked up at the man’s questions. Necro kept soaring between them, trying not to disrupt their movement as he did so —he just wanted to play. The questions of their origins, and how it was his first time seeing a Familiar, caused Kosuke to chuckle with unease.
How to explain that he didn’t exactly remember where he was from? In the end, it seemed being upfront about it would help.
“Umm, well…” Kosuke said, looking away while scratching his cheek sheepishly, “I… Can’t really remember where I’m from, exactly… Most of my memory’s just… Gone…” “Y’know you’re cutting that story short, right?” Necro berated. “It’s not like I’ll tell a guy I just met that I died! Who do you think I am?!” Kosuke grimaced in thought. “In any case… This is your first time seeing a Spirit’s Familiar, then?” Necro asked, looking at Yuto, “But you know what Familiars are like, anyways… Right? That’s nice, huh? Must be cool, to finally meet one, right? Right?” it asked eager. “…Just ignore him at this point…” Kosuke mumbled with a smirk, "He just wants praise..." “Hey!”

“I… Can’t really remember where I’m from, exactly… Most of my memory’s just… Gone…” Kosuke's response was odd in Yuto's opinion. 'Embarrased about a lack of memory?" He shrugged the thought off. "You too? there's two other people I met with the same thing. Y'all could start a club or something."
Yuto grimaced at his own bad joke. Shaking it off, he listened to Necro's questions. “…Just ignore him at this point…” The man let out a small laugh. "It's alright, I actually don't know much about familiars." He thought for a second. "I mean, there were a lot of these cat-things called Chirithy where I'm from; but they were more of a kind of guide than anything else."
Yuto, having just realized all of what Necro said, stopped in his tracks. "Wait, whaddya mean Spirit?" This was the first time he ever heard of this kind of thing. "You look pretty physical to me. Is it a title or something?"

Kosuke blinked in confusion, hearing how Yuto apparently had met others with the same dilemma. In a sense, it was somewhat relieving to see Yuto himself didn’t have the issue, but then, how many did he know, that lost their memories?
And how did they cope with it?
“Hmm…”
Necro puffed its cheeks, peeved, as Yuto laughed it off. "I mean, there were a lot of these cat-things called Chirithy where I'm from; but they were more of a kind of guide than anything else." Now there was a name that sparked familiarity on both the swordsman and Familiar, crossing a confused look between the two before looking back at Yuto.
Where had they heard that word before?
“Chirithy…?” Kosuke asked, confused. “So, it’s not just me that felt it was familiar?” Necro asked Kosuke, receiving a nod, “Hmm… But where did we hear that…?” “I dunno, but… Something about it is…”
A faint shudder crossed down Kosuke’s spine, a single phrase echoing in his head after a second of thought, but wording it aloud would sour the mood, surely. Deciding to instead focus elsewhere, he sighed, all the while Necro did the same while coiling around Yuto playfully.
The Familiar didn’t seem to mind what the swordsman was thinking, even if their thoughts were connected.
“He~h, you don’t know what a Spirit is?” it asked, coy, “Hehe… Well, makes sense —not a lot of people know about Spirits to begin with, y’know?” “…” crossing his arms calmly, Kosuke began to explain, “Spirits are beings from the Realm Between —beings that are meant to remember, in a sense. However… We’re not meant to exist, from the moment we’re born —Spirits aren’t meant to coexist in these worlds.” “Yep, yep! The only reason we’re here is because things got a little tricky” Necro nodded, “Some Spirits aren’t nice at all —they’re up to something, but we don’t know what it is. Still, we’re after their tails to stop them from doing something bad!” “You’re saying it like it’s an easy thing to do…” Kosuke smirked. “It’s not wrong, though, is it?” “…No, you’re right.”
With the dragon in a playful mood once more, Kosuke smiled a bit. It seemed like things wouldn’t go south for now —which was nice. Looking past the glade and a bit further into the forest, he wondered just what lurked past the endless lush greenery. Deciding to head forward to answer the question himself, he began to continue walking into the forest, catching the Familiar off-guard.
Necro coiled himself loosely around Kosuke, snuggling playfully against the swordsman’s head to try and cheer him up —this time with result. Kosuke patted his Familiar back, a faint smile lingering in his face as he decided to continue forward.
“C’mon, Yuto” Kosuke said, glancing back at the man now behind them, “We might find something further in, y’know? …Unless you’ve got a plan?” “Why would he, though?” Necro asked back, “Didn’t he say he was looking for fun stuff to do?” “You never know, pal…”

The duo's explanation made sense, as far as Yuto could figure. 'The realm between...Is it anything like the realm of darkness, I wonder.' Kosuke's call for him to catch up was met with him briskly walking to catchup, slowing his pace to match the other's. "Nah, no plan. Just kinda wandering at the moment."
He walked silently for a few minutes, taking in the trees and fresh air. "Whaddaya think we'll find here? Can't all be a forest." Worlds were bigger than just one place. Even if they walked for a week straight, they would only have walked the smallest percent around it.
"So do all Spirits get Familiars, or are you a special case?" The question was on his mind for a few minutes. He was curious about the rules of being a Spirit. It wasn't like he had anyone else to go off of.

“Suit yourself, then.”
Nodding along Yuto’s idea of a plan —which was having none—, Kosuke led the way through the glade. It was still peaceful —although it would suddenly be too much. The sounds muffled into silence, although no one picked it up at first. Necro soared around playfully, exploring every nook and cranny he could while Kosuke remained by Yuto’s side as they established some casual talk.
"So do all Spirits get Familiars, or are you a special case?" His interest piqued, it seemed the man besides the swordsman had a question or two about Spirits. Smirking faintly, yet willing to explain, Kosuke nodded.
“Every Spirit has a Familiar —it’s half of their power, in a sense” he explained, “It’s not just that, though. Necro’s a part of me —we’re one and the same, but at the same time not. Even though he knows what I think and feel, he’s still himself.”
The dragon didn’t seem to notice, instead focused completely on exploring the glade as they walked through it. That’s when it noticed that silence had overwhelmed the noises of birds and other fauna —which caused it to shudder. Now intrigued by the lack of noise, it seemed determined to figure out what was happening.
It didn’t take long to figure it out, either.
Whoosh! The scent of darkness flourished from the ground as Heartless appeared to make them front. The dragon flinched, swiftly turning back towards Kosuke and coiling around him, while the swordsman readied himself for a fight. Even if he was a Spirit, he couldn’t get careless.
“They’re the reason why things got quiet!” Necro berated, childishly, “Do something about it, will you!?” “You’re helping too, pal” Kosuke smirked. “Yeah, yeah —just get rid of them!”
Kosuke nodded back, his hand hovering over the handle of his blade as he stood upfront against the Heartless. They were peculiar to the world they had parasite —while there were the regular Shadows, a few Chief Puffs were also around, their head covered with dandelion gruff and leaves for hands. Alongside them were Puffballs, gathering around the Chief Puff and then scattering to cause trouble. A little ahead were Bizarre Archers, readying their aim to the two people in front.
“Well, hope you’re able to fight —these guys won’t be easy to take care of” Kosuke said, before charging forward.
With impressive speed, the swordsman had cut his distance at the Heartless further ahead, able to catch them off-guard. Swinging his blade with precision, he was able to gather their attention, while leaving Yuto behind and hopefully joining in the fight.

He followed along with the explanation. It sounded pretty cool to him, having that type of bond. It also sounded super risky. 'If one goes down, do both of them? Scary thought.'
Unfortunately, the lesson was cut short. It wasn't hard for Yuto to figure out why. He could feel the Heartless closing in. As if on cue, the three were surrounded. "Can I get ONE DAY without these things trying to kill me? That too much to ask?" He unhooked his bat from his waist and took his Replikeyblade off his back. "I'm good, just stay focused."
The man batted a shadow away with his key before heading to the archers. He figured they would be a problem, being off in a distance. He threw his bat, using his Fire Raid to hit one of the heartless both on the throw and the return, causing the creature to erupt in a cloud of black mist. Turning to block the other arrows as they flew towards him. This didn't seem like it would be a hard fight, but this didn't mean he could let up.

"Can I get ONE DAY without these things trying to kill me?”
Yuto’s shouting caught Kosuke off-guard, as he glanced his way only to see him dual-wield both bat and Keyblade replica. At least he seemed capable of a fight, joining in at a second’s notice and attacking the Heartless shooting from afar. With a smirk, the swordsman’s grip on the sword tightened, before lashing out with lightning-fast speed.
“I’ll make it up for you, then” he promised Yuto, “First thing’s first, though —we beat these things to the ground.”
The blade of the sword held in his hands flickered with a spark of fire, soon engulfed in bright orange and red, swiftly cutting through the frontline of Puffballs and the Chief Puff. While Kosuke’s Firestrike did clear most of the path, a single Puffball remained to support the Chief Puff, both enemies stacking on one another and spinning their way towards Yuto —the darkness in his heart calling for them…
Shing! A blue strike —almost like a lightning bolt— crossed between the Chief Puff tower and Yuto, causing the Heartless to stagger. While the dragon Familiar kept the Heartless at bay from the man, Kosuke followed along with flaming strikes, fending the Shadows away and bringing some to their end.
“Don’t worry —I’ll protect you!” Necro said cheekily, “So long as we work together, nothing will stop us!” “Heh… I’ll entrust ‘im to you, then, Necro!” Kosuke shouted, a confident grin in his face as he readied his stance for yet another charge. “Aye aye!”
The remaining Shadows decided to group together, seemingly now afraid of the swordman’s skill, while the Archers readied another barrage to their assailant. Necro flung through them with enough force to stun them, leaving Yuto with the finishing blow. As for the staggered Chief Puff tower, it fell down, both Chief Puff and Puffball dazed by the knockback. Quick to recover, the Chief Puff spun around, the spores that gathered close together held tight by a mist of darkness. Before long, more Puffballs had joined the fray.
That would be annoying to deal with…

Yuto heard a Shing and turned to see Necr flying overhead. With an appreciative nod, he turned back to the problem at hand. "Let's finish this quick then." He put his Replikeyblade away and entered his Dark Flare form, the black flames coating his bat. He leaped into the air, avoiding the archers' arrows as best as he could. Landing in the area the bowed Heartless, he sliced through the both of them like butter after a few strikes with his bat. The two dissolved into mist and completely disappeared.
He turned to the puffy ones and used his Air Dash to close the distance. "How you two doing over there?" He swatted a couple of the Puffballs back as he tried to close the distance. The remaining Shadows tried to block his way, but dissolved when Yuto's bat hit the both of them in one swing.
"That just leaves these things." He gripped his bat tighter and glanced over to Kosuke, and then at Necro before readying himself to finish the fight. The toll of the darkness seemed less than it normally was, but he would worry about that later.

While Kosuke fended off the remaining enemies, with his sword imbued in flames still, Necro looked in awe as Yuto dashed forward to take care of the Bizarre Archers aiming his way, the dark flames eating the Heartless and leaving not even ashes behind. Same with the Shadows, it seemed the man’s control over fire and darkness complimented well, making for a fine tactic in battle.
Obviously, both Spirit and Familiar had noticed this affinity way before the battle —a trait that they shared due to their own affinity to the balance between Light and Darkness. Still, Kosuke wasn’t one to judge a book by its cover, especially when Yuto had approached easy-going and amicable, instead of hostile and imposing.
He’d learnt to trust the man now fighting alongside him quickly enough, despite his alliance.
Swiftly, Kosuke weaved his way through the remaining Puffballs, the heat and flames added to his attacks being enough to defeat them —leaving only the Chief Puff to fend for itself. Spinning around once more, it attempted to create more Puffballs to aid it in battle, but Necro was swiftly to attack it, causing it to stagger and opening an opportunity for Kosuke to finish.
The threat of the Heartless now gone, Kosuke’s blade flickered with the flames, before disappearing completely, allowing the swordsman to sheath the blade back where it belonged. Once that was done, he turned around to meet Yuto, a playful smirk written in his expression as Necro returned to his usual position coiled around Kosuke.
“Who would’ve thought that the darkness the Heartless are part of would turn against them?” Kosuke asked, calmly, “…Don’t worry —I’m cool with it. I knew about it before now, so it’s not like it bothers me. And besides, looks like you control it pretty well.” “That was awesome!” Necro cheered, nodding its head up and down, “Not a lot of people can do that, y’know?!” “Easy with the compliments, there, pal.” “C’mon —you wanna praise him too, don’t you?” “Maybe…” “Just admit it already!”
Kosuke snickered a bit, with Necro soon joining in. The healthy dynamic between the two almost made it seem like they were old friends, rather than halves of a whole —but whether Yuto understood that or not didn’t matter. Stretching a bit, Kosuke perked up as he noticed a shift in Yuto, tilting his head a bit in confusion.
Was something going on, or was his head playing tricks on him?
“Say… You have done that before, haven’t you?” he asked, “Just askin’…”

The man sighed in relief as the rest of the Heartless were swiftly dealt with, only now noticing Kosuke's flaming sword. 'Nice!' He let his own flames die before putting his bat back in its place. Yuto smirked at the teen's initial statement. "Yeeeaaahh, I've been told I stink." He still didn't understand how an element like darkness had a scent, but he knew better than to question this kind of thing.
Necro's added banter made the two seem like close partners. It made the air after the battle much lighter. “Say… You have done that before, haven’t you?” Yuto's entire face turned red at the question. "Uh, yeah, actually. Kind of an after effect, ya know?" It was the best way he could explain it without going into massive detail.
"I'm sure you already know what I mean, but I'll answer any questions I can." He figured he may as well, considering they already knew he could use the darkness. It would probably be easier going forward too, it's not like he dodged most questions anyway.

Kosuke frowned a bit, feeling that Yuto’s comment about his powers underestimated them. Necro was also quick to perk up, although mostly because of how the man had assumed the pair knew about the darkness he was capable of using —quickly making his way to coil around Yuto with childish curiosity, his bright brown eyes staring at the man’s own.
“You don’t stink —who told you that?” the dragon asked, “We certainly didn’t, right?” “…That’s not what I meant, when I said I knew from before” Kosuke was quick to chime in, smirking, “It’s more like… A sensation. Not like a scent, but rather… A feeling. Something I can tell just by looking at you —seeing you fight, and being who you are. It’s nothing too serious, really!”
The swordsman laughed as he finished, seemingly sheepish after blurting out his thoughts. Truthfully, it wasn’t like Kosuke to say things like that to people he’d only just met —instead saving it for those close to him. But there was something about Yuto that the swordsman felt close to —familiar, really.
What it was, though, perhaps was tricky to explain properly.
Playfully, Necro chuckled, still coiled around Yuto, but now moving around him, as if he were inspecting the man. There wasn’t much neither he or Kosuke wanted to ask about Yuto’s past, most likely something a bit too raw to handle at the moment, instead leaving it for later.
“I don’t really mind, whether you use darkness as your strength, or not” Kosuke replied, shaking his head, “What matters to me is who you are. And if what you’ve done and shown so far is to be believed… Then I trust you” he finished, “I can tell we’ll get along perfectly.” “Yeah —what he said!” Necro shouted, cheerful.
Laughing a bit, Kosuke turned to where they had been headed —the forest still sprawling endlessly in front. With a bit of morale restored, as well as a bit cheerier, he headed forward, signaling Yuto to follow along —all while Necro uncoiled around Yuto and back around Kosuke. The pair headed onwards, a bit more silent than usual, focused on trying to find if there was anything lurking up front…
Eventually, they’d make it out of the forest, entering a shoreline. At a distance, connected to the land by a bridge, was a city, white and radiant against the sunlight. Kosuke looked with subtle awe, whereas Necro couldn’t contain himself.
“So there are people here!” the dragon shouted, quick to turn around towards Kosuke and Yuto, “C’mon —let’s check the city out!"

Yuto went to say something, realizing his joke didn't land, but thought better of it. Kosuke could sense the darkness too. It made Yuto feel a little better, knowing that he wasn't the only one. The teen's laughter also helped lift his mood.
The man smiled a little at Kosuke's decision to not ask, a little grateful. He didn't mind talking about it as much as he used to, but the thought of trying to say it in a short summary was more tiring than he would like to admit. "Thanks guys, really."
It was nice to find people that accepted him for what they saw, the current person he was. 'Maybe my teacher was wrong about me being accepted. At least a little.'
He followed Kosuke through the forest, rubbing the spot where Necro launched from. After a while of walking in silence, Yuto had to shield his eyes from the light of the shore. Necro's exclamation caused him to risk a look. The first thing that caught his eye was the large wall on the other side of the bridge. It wasn't anything special, but after spending so long in the woods it was a wonder to see any sort of civilization.
He walked over the bridge with the other two, taking care to not bump into anyone as he looked around. "This is definitely a place worth exploring."

Over the white bridge, countless people and carriages passed by, back and forth, the friendly mirth inviting anyone curious enough to take a look. It was crowded, with many people heading towards the city in white at the end of the road, with banners, flags and flower decorations all over the place. The motif on them all was a golden sun over purple color, radiating against the mid-day light over all of their heads. Music, laughter and pleasantries were the only thing that followed after, and it seemed no one minded neither Kosuke, Necro or Yuto as they went about, seemingly uninterested of the fact that they looked completely foreign to the occasion.
The swordsman looked around, enthralled by all of the sights overpowering everything around him, not having expected something like that from what he’d first seen —open, lush forest, with cheery birds and bright colors, quiet for anyone searching solace. In contrast, the bustling city seemed loud and exciting, but still friendly to the visitors. Something about it all caused a spark of familiarity to rise from Kosuke’s heart, his memories trying to pry through the clouded mist that surrounded him.
Where had he seen all this before?
Necro, having taken his distance, was enjoying everything from a bird’s eye perspective —soaring swiftly as he tried to enjoy whatever he could of the sights. People dancing merrily, enjoying a cup or two of carefully elaborated beer or other beverages, all of it carefree. Childishly the dragon floated, wanting to be the first to discover something in order to lead the other two towards it.
Almost like a guide.
“Ah—Hey!”
The dragon perked up, noticing something at a distance, before flying swiftly back towards its Summoner, causing Kosuke to stop and wait for the Familiar to join them. What had he seen, that had him so eager all of the sudden?
“Necro?” “There’s a huge plaza not too far from here —let’s go there!” the dragon suggested, happy, “There’s tons of people there, and a lot of stands, too! There’s bound to be something cool waiting for us there!” “Since when are you so enthused by this?” Kosuke asked, amused. After chuckling a bit, he nodded, “We could go there… How ‘bout it, Yuto?”
Kosuke turned around to gauge Yuto’s response, wanting for him to also have a say on the matter. After all, it wouldn’t be fun to explore everything if the decisions were one-sided —there was always something enjoyable about reaching an agreement. In this case, the swordsman wanted to know if there was something else that had caught the man’s attention.
If not, the way towards the heavily crowded plaza would be a straight way forward, weaving their path in between the people as they walked back and forth in search for entertainment.
What was it that had them so festive? Kosuke couldn’t help to wonder that as he waited on a definitive answer on where to head towards next.

He followed the two as they walked through the town, the mass of people going about their lives made it easy to avoid bumping into anyone. Just stay out of their path and everything was fine.
The place seemed lively, even for a marketplace. 'There's gotta be something big going on.' Necro's call for them caused the man to look up. His mention of a plaza perked the man's interest. "Yeah, let's go! The plan was to find something to do, right?" He motioned for Necro to lead them. The stalls and mass of people would probably be explained at the plaza. That was usually where the main parts of big events were held.
He would follow the others as they made their way to the plaza, passing more people going to and from the same way they were. "So, what did you see in the plaza, Necro? Anything interesting?"

Nodding as Yuto agreed, Kosuke headed forward, following Necro’s guidance as they all cut through the crowd celebrating whatever sort of event. With such a festive ambiance, there was bound to be plenty of things to see, and activities to participate in.
Who could not be intrigued by it all?
Even guiding the two, Necro remained up in the air, avoiding being sighted most of the time —although an avid watcher would be able to spot the Familiar without any problem, although the tale would come off rather intriguing or straight up amusing to those who listened to the perky watchers —something the dragon found himself chuckling at, as well as Kosuke. In a sense, given that both were connected, the sense of playfulness was shared between the two.
A sudden chill —a familiar feeling crossed by Kosuke as he walked forward, forcing him to turn around, wondering where the feeling had come from. Stopping in his tracks as he looked around in a seeming panic, he would lose sight of both Necro and Yuto as they headed forward, moving towards the Plaza where the people were gathering.
Surrounding the many walls and streets were countless stands, adorned with the same banners and flags as the ones back at the entrance of the city, as well as blooming flowers and wreaths. People were dancing at the tune of a cheerful melody, some children playing around, and even others enjoying a nice treat or a cup of cider. It seemed like something was happening, with people acting so merrily.
At one end, painted on the wall, was a picture of a king and a queen, the woman cradling a baby with bright green eyes and blonde hair. Necro approached, remaining somewhat distant to avoid people looking at him, tilting his head as he looked. Some kids were leaving flowers on the bottom of the mural, and the dragon noticed a mix of both joy and sadness.
Why was that?
“…Hey —where’d Kosuke go?!” the Familiar shouted, looking around, before going towards Yuto, “C’mon, c’mon —he’s gotta be around somewhere, right?! Let’s go look for him!”
Kosuke stumbled his way, chasing after a ghost of a feeling —his broken memories trying to pry through a thick mist clouding his heart. In a panic, he turned around, attempting to discover where the sensation came from. His heartstrings were being pulled as he ran around, crossing paths with people who looked back at him with bewilderment.
Where was that coming from?!
Eventually, he stopped, ending by a pier at one side of the city. There weren’t many people there that could disturb him, look at him weird, or ask what was wrong. Reducing his run to a walk, Kosuke looked around with a lost gaze —almost pained.
“Why…” groaning, he brought a hand towards his forehead, “Where have I seen this before…?”

Yuto was so enamored by everything he was seeing that he hadn't noticed that Kosuke had stopped walking with them. Not until Necro said something. He took a look around. "He may just be back the way we came. Stopped for food or something, ya know?" He didn't really believe it, but he'd rather think that than someone getting lost in a random world.
"Can't you guys sense each other? considering how close you made your bond sound, you know what? Dumb question." Yuto tried to keep pace with the Familiar. "You get a bird's eye view, I'll ask around. Let me know if you see him."
Yuto slowed down and looked for the nearest person that he could find and asked about Kosuke. He couldn't do much else considering Necro could fly and he was stuck to the ground.
