Amber had to hand it to her prey, for she was in total predator mode at the moment, he was a quick little thing. He weaved through passerbys like it was nothing. A regular at running, it seemed. Amber didn't know if that was from a natural gift or from hard experience of being chased by authorities. Either way, her prey was about to find out Amber's skill as a hunter.
Her gift was not something that came natural to her. Amber's technique of running after runaways should come to no surprise to Rekka or any of her friends. She had been a captain before. Heck the first time that Rekka and Amber had met was when Rekka had been practically run over by a criminal on the run.
As the Wilder's and Rekka began to slow, Amber kept her pace. It was time to kick it up a notch and end this thing. Pumping her legs as hard as they'd go she closed the remaining distance between herself and the redhaired teen. As she was about a step behind, Amber went for it! She leaped like some sort of feline, arms out stretched and going for a tackle from behind. Unfortunately she missed.
Crashing to the floor, Amber could only stretch out her hand and watch as her victim got away. Her face was red as she realized she had failed. She had been so close! If she had waited maybe a moment later she would have succeeded. "Damn it!" She mentally cursed as the footsteps of the Wilders and Rekka could be heard. No doubt the Wilders would continue the chase after the teen. What Rekka would do though, Amber didn't know. If she was smart she'd continue and let Amber catch up later. But than again, what friend would leave a friend laying on the ground?

As they ran, the red haired figure ahead didn't dare look back. He could hear the loud thuds of the others behind him, one of them particularly close behind him! As if adrenaline pushed him onward, the red haired figure seemed to get a new burst of speed just as Amber made a leap toward him. Even if he hadn't gotten that new burst of speed, it seemed as if his chaser had missed him! What luck for him! Letting out a taunting laugh over his shoulder, daring a swift glance behind him, the red haired teenager continued to run out of sight. The last that Rekka saw of him was him weaving into a crowd and then taking a turn down and alley.
Amber had fallen and as Rekka followed the Wilders, she finally found Amber with a red, furious face. No doubt, she was upset over missing their target. Still, she did a great attempt in Rekka's eyes. None of them could have done it. At least, not in the shape that Rekka was in.
As expected, the Wilders had passed Amber and kept running after that teenager. Considering the distance the youth had put between them already, it would be a miracle if they could find his tail again. It would be a matter of moments before the chase would be considered a lost cause. While they ran onward, Rekka came to a slow and then a stop before Amber. Breathing hard for a moment, Rekka reached out a hand as she knelt to help pull Amber back up to her feet.
"Whew! He's a fast one!" Rekka stated.

Amber gladly took Rekka's hand to pop up off the ground. How the heck was that teenager so fast?! "And trouble I bet too." Amber added to Rekka's comment. Well she had tried her best to catch the fiend. Part of her wanted to charge after the guards and teach that good for nothing a lesson. But there were more important things for them to do. They still hadn't found Rekka's aunt yet.
Glancing around, Amber noticed that they had come to a poorer neighborhood. They had gone away from the market place and the torched section of the city. The streets they stood in were dirty and lined with more run down buildings. Seemed just like the sort of place that a trouble maker would live in.
"Just where are we?" Amber wondered aloud.
A sudden sound of footsteps behind Amber was the only warning she had before something bumped into her. Glancing to her right, Amber watched three children dressed in tattered clothes rush past her. "Hey!" Amber shouted as they continued running as if nothing had happened at all. They were maybe four feet tall at the most. Not being able to see their faces, Amber spotted that all three had short black hair.
"Children..." Amber said shaking her head. Resting her hands on her hips, Amber couldn't help but smile as she watched them turn the corner. She had been exactly like that when she was that age. She'd run around without a care in the world playing all sorts of make believe games with the other elvan children.
Letting her hands fall into her pocket, it took a moment before Amber realized that her wallet was gone! A look of surprise crossed her face. She had just been robbed! "Those little...!" Before even explaining to Rekka what had just happened Amber shot off after them. Seriously this was just not her day. First Rekka had been knocked over and now she had her wallet stolen by a bunch of kids!

As Rekka helped Amber back to her feet, she waited for her friend to respond. Sure enough, she claimed that the red head they couldn't catch was trouble too. Yes, that much was obvious since he was running from the local authorities in this world. Rekka pretty much gave up trying to catch up. There was no hopes in catching him now.
It didn't take long before Amber asked where they were. Now that AMber had said that, Rekka wasn't sure where it was that they had ended up in. Glancing around with a raised brow, it took her a bit to take in the scenery. It looked like they were in some sort of run down part of town. "Hm...if I didn't know any better...I'd say the city's slums. All of them have a slum." No sooner had Rekka mentioned this when a group of kids had run into Amber and took off.
The pair of women watched as the children took off, not even seeming to notice that they had collided into someone. As Amber shook her head, mentioning kids. It didn't take long before Amber went into a panic over something. Blinking, Rekka watched her friend in confusion before she took off after those kids. They must have done something for Amber to be chasing them down. What had happened? Rekka couldn't tell but she ran after them, bringing up the rear.
"Wait for me!"

Amber charged after those kids. Poor Rekka had no clue what had just happened, and Amber didn't have the time to tell her either. She'd make sure she did so the moment she caught those little thieves. At the moment though her mind was focused solely on those kids.
Despite their young age and short legs they were faster than Amber would have thought. With the added distance, Amber watched them turn a corner. Afraid that she might loose them, Amber pumped her legs harder. She was still tired from the previous chase and her speed was effected as a result. Rekka wouldn't have too much trouble with catching up with Amber.
Reaching the corner, Amber turned. She spotted the children near the end of the block as they took another turn onto a different street. Hurrying down the block, Amber wasn't going to give up! Her pace slowed just a tad as she tired, but she still refused to stop and give up.
As she turned the corner that the children had angled down, Amber was forced to come to a stop as she headed about twenty feet down into an alley. The sides of old buildings lay to her right and left. In front of her the alley road came to a stop at a tall fence that separated the alley from an old brick house. It was different from the other buildings on the side of the alley, which were more square and apartment like buildings compared to the old brick house.
Glancing around, Amber realized that the children were no where to be seen! Hearing footsteps behind her, Amber figured that Rekka had probably caught up. "Those little pipsqueaks stole my wallet!" Amber said aloud. Turning around, Amber was surprised to see not Rekka, but the youth that she had been chasing not a moment before with the red hair! He seemed just as surprised to see her as she was to see him! Had Amber's luck just turned? If Rekka was behind the youth perhaps they'd be able to capture him!

Rekka wasn't sure what was happening but she did her best to keep up. From the previous run, it was clear to her that Amber was slowed because of it. It was a lucky thing because it allowed Rekka to keep up with her. Unfortunately, for Amber, that meant the kids had a huge head start on her. Catching them will not be an easy thing to do. Rekka didn't even know that Amber had been robbed but she guessed at it. Maybe that was why Amber was running after them? She didn't see any other reason for it.
The chase took them all the way into a section that looked like an old, abandoned area of what seemed to be apartment buildings. Amber came to a stop. As Amber did so, Rekka finally managed to catch up to her. As she started to catch up, she heard Amber mention that the kids had stolen her wallet. Well, that certainly complicated things. What happened next though was unexpected. The red head they had been chasing earlier had shown up. Rekka's eyebrows widened as the youth took notice of Amber, looking just as surprised to see any of them there.
Of course, he hadn't seen Rekka, whom took the opportunity to dive onto his back. With an exclamation, he tried to wrestle free from Rekka and tried to throw her off with no success. If Amber helped or not, the two would eventually fall onto the ground, Rekka still hanging onto him.
"Let me go, you crazy woman!"
"No!" Rekka replied stubbornly. The two scuffled for a moment longer before the boy seemed to finally give in to the fact that he had been caught. He didn't look to happy as he glared over at Rekka. As Rekka frowned back over at him, she noticed something strange. The two of them looked alike. Not twins, of course since Rekka knew her mother would've told her if she had a sibling anywhere but she recognized his face. He seemed to realize this too as his eyebrows rose a little. At first, he was grumpy but his expression turned into curiosity.
"You...who are you?" he questioned Rekka.
"Rekka Garnette...you?" Rekka questioned him.
"...Never heard that name before. Name's Ryo Ito." It looks like Rekka had just found a missing family member. Rekka couldn't help but gape at him. It would be Amber's turn to speak since Rekka was too shocked and Ryo was looking at her confusedly.

It seemed that their luck was finally turning! After the few misfortunes that had struck Amber, it seemed like a sent from heaven that the youth that she had ran after before had walked right up to them. When their eyes met, Amber watched with some misplayed joy as Rekka tackled the youngster from behind.
"Serves you right!" Amber thought to herself. Smiling in content as the teen struggled, Amber had no fear that Rekka would be outdone by this youngster. Coming from behind had given her the advantage of surprise. Before he could even retaliate, Rekka had him locked down. He squirmed, but there was no where he could go now.
Listening to the exchange between Rekka, Amber put the name Ryo Ito to memory. It was not a name she had ever heard before, but perhaps it might mean something to Rekka. Amber wanted answers out of this youth and she wanted them now. Summoning her axe to hand, Amber lowered the weapon so that the blade rested on the nape of Ryo's neck. She was about to make this exchange very simple.
"You don't want to loose your head, you answer my questions. And I'll have you know I'm not some officer from this world. I could care less if your head comes off or not." To emphasize her point, Amber let the axe nick Ryo's neck. There wasn't much he could do to get away with Rekka still holding him down.
What she said was sort of true. She wasn't an officer of this world. However her threat was just that, only a threat. She could never commit herself to actually killing someone who wasn't trying to kill her first. But Ryo didn't know that.
"Why were those guards chasing you? And what do you know about the kids that stole my wallet?" Amber had noticed the similarity between Ryo and Rekka. No doubt he was someone they were probably looking for to find out information about Rekka's aunt. First though Amber had to square some things away. Like find out where the heck her wallet was.

Rekka, although she had been surprised to hear the last name, hadn't let go of Ryo. As Amber approached them, neither seemed to notice her until she had pulled an axe out on Ryo. Rekka looked up and over at Amber. She didn't look to be too furious. No, there was none of that anger she saw on her friend's face like there had been whenever Bartimaeus was stirring up trouble. This was probably just for interrogation, or at least she had hoped so. Ryo here, after all, might be a relative. She had to have the chance to ask him what his mother's name was though.
As Amber held the axe and spoke, Ryo blinked up at her at first with confusion before realizing that she had pulled a weapon out. When he had, he had given her his full attention. He didn't appear to be scared of her but did look more attentive now that she had her axe out. From what she had said, she had just threatened him. If he didn't answer any questions she had, Amber was going to cut his head off! The youth didn't show any signs of fear...until she had nicked his neck to emphasize her point that she was trying to make. Even Rekka blinked up at Amber in confusion. No, Amber wasn't the type to just kill him. Rekka knew it in her heart.
"Gee, I don't know...maybe because I kicked one of them in the family jewels and they didn't like it?" Ryo retorted grumpily. "The moron was insulting my mother...so I kicked him...where it hurt the most. His friends didn't appreciate that either so all three of them tried to get me for assault."
When Amber had brought up the kids, Ryo didn't meet her gaze. "Fellow kids from the slums, you got a problem with them, take it up with them." For someone at axe point, he was a bit fiery and stubborn. Amber may need to apply more force with this one.

Amber didn't like how Ryo was responding to her. The teen was rude. "If I was in your position I'd watch my tone." Amber told him.
Hearing his response to why the guards were chasing him, Amber had a hard time believing that the guards would chase someone to this extent just because he had kicked them in the jewels. Then again it would techniquely be considered a charge of assault back on Cornelia.
Sighing, Amber lowered the axe away from Ryo's neck. Rekka could let him up now if she so chose. Those kids were long gone by now. She probably wouldn't see that money again. "I guess I won't be getting my money back." Amber bladed Ryo for all of this. If he hadn't knocked Rekka over Amber wouldn't have chased him. They would have never entered the slums.
"You owe me five hundred munny." She told Ryo.

Rekka held onto Ryo tightly while Amber continued her interrogation. Ryo simply looked away, not making eye contact as Amber told him that he should watch his tone at axe point. Clearly, he didn't care for authority and was stubborn. If anyone wanted something out of him, they would have to torture it out of him to get anywhere. Why he was recklessly acting the way he was though at axe point was another matter. Did he have a death wish? Possibly.
As Amber lowered the axe, Rekka guessed it was her cue to let Ryo up as Amber mentioned she'd probably not be getting her munny back. Slowly, Rekka released the other youth. The two getting back to their feet, Ryo heard Amber's comment. He let out a scoff in response.
"Hey, I owe you nothing. It's not my fault you went and lost your wallet. If the munny meant so much to you, you would've kept better watch over it." Yes, he was a jerk. If Rekka's thought of the last name were correct, Rekka didn't want to think what it would be like now that she knew.
"You said your last name was Ito...that was my mother's maiden name before it became Garnette..." Rekka had stated, looking back at Ryo. The youth folded his arms as he looked over at Rekka with scrutiny.
"...So?" Ryo replied.
"Well...um...what is...your mother's name?" Rekka had asked him.
"Era, so what?" Ryo didn't seem like he wanted to talk and didn't like where this was going. There was a bit of a worried look upon his face but only very subtle. Rekka's face seemed to whiten a bit.
"Th-Then...your mother...she's my aunt." Ryo took a step back from Rekka with surprise. After all, Rekka had asked the elderly woman about what the names were of her family members. She had given them to her. Turns out, Ryo and Rekka were cousins. Neither appeared to be happy about it either as they frowned at each other then.
"So I'm related to you...greeeat," was all Ryo stated before walking away. Rekka wondered where he was going. Pausing in his tracks, he gestured for them to follow him. "Do ya want your munny back or what? Get moving!" Ryo stated before continuing down the area where the kids had likely gone. The way he moved though it were as if he knew where they would be. Nothing really suggested that he was in much of a hurry to get there.

Listening the two interact, Ryo was really beginning to get on her nerves. The teenager had no respect for his elders! Amber was beginning to wonder if perhaps he had just walked up to those guards and proceeded to kick them in the jewels. Perhaps the whole thing about making fun of his mother was a lie. Watching him start off down the street, Amber wondered if he was proceeding to just leave them? Hearing him comment about her money made Amber's face go red in anger.
"What a rude son of a..." Amber let her words hang as she watched Ryo continue to walk away. The words were said to herself and under her breath, but Rekka should have no trouble picking them up since she was right next to her.
Amber had run into quite a large amount of different sorts of individuals in her line of work. She felt she'd seen it all. Ryo was quickly falling into one of the negative categories of types of people. To think that Rekka would be related to someone like this! For Rekka's sake Amber hopped that her aunt was a much nicer person.
Having no choice but to follow, Amber went ahead and followed the two wherever they would lead.

Rekka wasn't sure what to make of this situation. This Ryo guy was apparently her cousin. How in the worlds could she ever be related to this?! The way he talked and the way he did things, Reka knew that she didn't like him. Still, he was family so what could she do about it? Nothing. Hopefully, her aunt was much nicer than her cousin. Ryo just seemed like your every day delinquent. Were they poor?
As he had suddenly turned to them, as if he were about to walk off on them, he spoke directly at Amber. The way he spoke wasn't exactly the best wording. In fact, it was rude. Judging by Amber's mutterings, she felt that he was too. Honestly, Rekka was embarrassed to find that she was related to this guy.
Quietly, Rekka apologized to Amber before moving after Ryo. She couldn't help but feel her face redden in embarrassment from all of this.

Following Ryo through the slums, Amber wondered just where Rekka's aunt lived. If she lived in the slums it would mean that Ryo and her mother were poor. However if they lived outside the slums, in one of the larger homes near the walls of the castle, it would mean that they had quite a bit of munny.
If Ryo lived in the slums, Amber would not force the munny issue. She wouldn't feel right taking the munny from the poor. While what those kids did was wrong, Amber was sure they were probably dependent on the munny. Amber would have liked to have captured them to show them the consequences of stealing. In the end though she would have probably given them some of the munny. But she doubted she'd see those kids again.
On the other hand if Ryo did come from a rich family, she'd have no problem taking his munny. All of this was his fault anyway. Glaring at his back, Amber continued to follow Ryo. It was so easy to be mad at him with his uncaring demeanor and rude behavior.
As they entered the more uncanny section of the slums, Amber's hand rested on the axe's handle that was attached to a belt around her hip. Even though it was still light out, Amber couldn't help but feel uneasy. She didn't like the look of this place one bit. Ryo had taken them down a side street with abandoned homes. Amber spotted glass from broken windows, broken fences laying on the ground and rusting away, and even furniture sitting out on front of lawns. There were quite a few individuals in this street, dressed in ragged clothing and hanging in the shadows. Was Ryo leading them into a trap?

Rekka had to wonder where her aunt lived too. Ryo hadn't told them where, simply rudely told them to follow him as he took off down the alleyway. He seemed to know where he was going. Where that would be, she couldn't be sure. It was just clear to her, however, that this area wasn't exactly a place she'd voluntarily come to. The area was more desolate and rather unkempt. They were headed right for the heart of the slums, it seemed and Ryo didn't seem the least perturbed by it or the fact that these two girls could easily ended up attacked out here. He just simply walked ahead of them.
By the time they came to a stop, there were people outside what looked to be old, abandoned homes. Furniture was outside with some people sitting on them, watching them. Paying them no mind at all, or the fact that Rekka and Amber were nervous, Ryo let out a low whistle. As if on cue, the kids appeared looking confused and even slightly fearful as they spotted Amber. They remembered the girl they had just robbed. One of them had her wallet.
"Hey, that girl you stole from...give her the wallet back. She's a friend..." When he said that last word though, his expression seemed to say otherwise when he looked back at them. One of the kids protested but Ryo simply shook his head. Wordlessly, he seemed to resolve what conflict or argument there would have been. Frowning, the kid held his tongue as the other carrying the wallet tentatively approached Amber and gave her wallet back to her. As soon as the kid handed her the wallet back, the three of them took off at a run.
"...Your friends, I take it?" Rekka questioned Ryo, trying to keep things friendly.
"Kids I watch out for...now...about that relation..." Ryo turned to Rekka again. There was no denying the fact that they had to be related. There wasn't any other explanation for them looking the way they did. They looked alike, almost too much alike. "My mom's your aunt, you say? Well, let's go and see if what you say is actually true." With that, Ryo merely motioned for them to follow him. As he went, he lead them right back out of the slums. Although Ryo was rude, Rekka had a feeling that for now, he seemed to be a somewhat good person...way deep down and underneath it all. So deep down it wasn't easy to notice at first, especially by the way he spoke to them. He definitely wasn't the most polite person in the universe, that was for sure. Wanting to know who her aunt was, Rekka followed Ryo. She was nervous but wanted to try and see who her aunt was. Maybe her aunt could answer her questions about her mother's life before she married her father and before she had Rekka.

Amber had no idea where Ryo was taking them, but she didn't like the look of this place. As he came to a stop, Amber glanced at his direction. Why were they stopping suddenly? Amber didn't like the look of this place. Not one. single. bit. When Ryo suddenly whistled, Amber felt the hairs on her back rise.
Hand dropping to the handle of her axe, she was about to draw her axe when one by one the children from before appeared from the shadows. What were they doing here?! Amber wondered in surprise. Watching the interaction between Ryo and the children, Amber found herself pleasantly surprised. She had thought that Ryo was leading them into a trap. Instead he had led them to the children's hide out.
When one of the children approached her, Amber watched her return the pouch back to her hand. Amber couldn't help but notice the rags the girl wore. They all wore tattered clothes. "I wonder if they live here?" Amber felt sorry for them. She couldn't just leave like this.
Sighing she took out some of the munny. Dropping down so that she was eye level with the child she said, "It is never ok to steal. It is better to simply rely on the goodness of others." Placing the handful of coins in the child's hands she stood and nodded to Ryo. She was ready to leave now.
Following him, Amber's impression of him rose significantly. She hadn't expected him to actually take them to get her munny back. Perhaps there was more to him than just his rude speech and behavior.

Rekka was just as surprised as Amber was when Ryo had brought them into the slums where the kids were. As they came running out, Rekka half expected some kind of trap too. Admittedly, she didn't trust Ryo even if he was family. However, he had proved them wrong. Reka was a bit glad to know that he was honest enough to not do them harm and even helped Amber get her munny back. As Amber bent down and handed the girl some of the munny, Reka watched as the little girl smiled and turned to her two companions. They were delighted even for a small amount. It meant they could likely get something at the marketplace. Maybe small but one could tell just something little was enough to really brighten their day as the little girl thanked Amber and scurried off with her friends or siblings.
Once Ryo began to leave, Rekka followed after her cousin with Amber. The three of them walked for quite some time in silence, Ryo not stopping once or saying where it is they were going. He didn't seem to think that telling them was all that important. At least they didn't have to worry that he would be taking them anywhere dangerous. After all, why go through all that trouble to help Amber get her munny back?
Finally, the three of them rounded down a corner into another street. This street was way better than the slums. No doubt, they had come out into the more regular streets of the city. Ryo walked over to one of the small, one floor homes and knocked. In response, the door opened as a woman in her forties looked out at them all.
"Ryo...what did you get yourself into now?" the woman asked as she gave Amber and Rekka a once over. Her gaze stopping a bit longer on Rekka before she looked back over at her son.
"I bumped into these two, mom. One thinks she's a relative of our's. Uh...Reika? Recca?" Ryo stated, glancing over his shoulder then at Rekka.
"It's Rekka, ma'am...And my friend here is Amber. If what Ryo says is true about your last name then you are my aunt. I am Rekka Garnette but my mother's maiden name was Ito." The middle aged woman looked at Rekka hard and long before stepping aside and gesturing for them to come in. Ryo entered first with Rekka trailing nervously behind him.

Amber followed Ryo and Rekka through the slums. As they exited them Amber's suspicion that Ryo wasn't poor started to seem more factual the farther they walked from the slums. While Amber didn't think that Ryo was rich, she figured he probably wasn't poor either.
At his age, Amber figured that he was probably around seventeen or so, she had signed up for the army. The experience had been a wake up call in comparison to her time in Elfenhiem. There wasn't really an army in Elfenhim. There were guardsmen, but their only duty had been to protect the wall. It was nothing like the army in Cornelia. Amber had joined the army not really realizing that she would be put on missions, patrols, and even participate in skirmishes against heartless, nobodies, goblins, orcs, and the likes. Heck her first mission had put her in a troop that had encountered these giant heartless spiders that had nearly killed them all!
"He could do with some discipline." Amber thought to herself as she glanced at Ryo's back. He had an average body, boot camp would harden the muscles that he already had and then some.
As Ryo came to a stop in front of a small one floor home. A middle aged woman waited in front of her home, and addressed Ryo. Amber figured that this must be Rekka's aunt. She didn't remember what name the old lady had given them, if she had given them one at all.
When Ryo described the situation of their meeting, Amber frowned in her disapproval. He sure was putting bumping into them lightly. Amber would have described it more like tackling. The teen had practically bulldozed Rekka over! At long last Rekka introduced herself. Amber waited to see what would happen. Would Rekka's aunt welcome Rekka with welcome arms or with hostility? From the way she looked at Rekka long and hard before stepping aside Amber couldn't guess. Either way it seemed they were entering Rekka's aunt's house for better or for worse.

Where Ryo seemed to be nice enough to bring them here, he wasn't one to follow authoritative figures. Taking him to somewhere like boot camp would be a failure since he'd escape it in no time flat. It had to do with not having a father figure in his life. If he had a father, Ryo might be less of what he was right now and probably not getting into as much trouble as he had been. His mother just seemed to shake her head at him knowing fully well that he had to have gotten himself into something. She knew that she couldn't control him outside the home but she worried for her son's sake like any mother would or should.
When his mother lead the two girls in, Ryo had followed her lead. As soon as they were inside though, he broke off and went down the hallway, separating himself from the rest. No doubt, probably headed for his room. Rekka admittedly didn't mind that he had broken away from their group. She was curious of her cousin but not so curious as to get too close to him. He was, without a doubt, a trouble maker. Rekka didn't want to end up getting dragged into anything that he might cause any time soon.
Rekka's aunt lead them into what appeared to be a decent sized living room. As she walked i, she took a seat at a handsome blue armchair. Across from it was a coffee table made of glass and a sea foam blue sofa. The room, in fact, was several shades of blues and purples. There was even a fireplace and standing on the mantelpiece were pictures. The only pictures Rekka could see though were what appeared to be Ryo and his mother.
"So, you claim to be the daughter of my sister? Tell me, how is she doing?" Rekka's aunt had suddenly questioned Rekka. As Rekka headed over to the sofa at the gesture from her aunt for them to take a seat, she thought on how best to answer.
"Well...she's doing well now. She had been ill for some time...you see, my father died and I got injured. The grief of what had happened had overwhelmed er so much that she got sick because of it. I had been taking care of her myself for a few years after it all. I only just found out I had family here...she never told me of her life here..." Rekka trailed off, watching her aunt closely.
"That would be because you have no business coming here. She didn't want for you to come here." Her aunt had been blunt about it but not mean either. "Like every mother that worries for their child, they want for them to stay home. That is what your mother likely had wanted, for you to stay home but I can see that didn't work out for her." She seemed to laugh a little at that. "I'm not so good at it myself as you can see with Ryo. I'm fairly certain what he told me was putting the situation between yourselves lightly. That boy...ever since his father had left, he's been a problem child. I'm lucky he only listens to me when he's here at home."
Rekka gave a slow nod before glancing over at Amber. It seemed like a good meeting so far, her aunt was talking to them. There didn't seem to be anything negative between them except that she viewed Rekka coming here as a rebellion against her mother's words. "Well, we sort of came here due to the fact we had a duty to fulfill. You see, I had joined the army of Cornelia and they gave me medicine that has made mother well again. I was sent out here with my friend, Amber, to help fulfill that duty. Things went awry and it brought us here where we've fulfilled our duty in informing this world of what's going on. I decided to explore this world a little to find out more about my mother and maybe even my father when they were young. I was surprised to learn I had family here too and sought you out...and now, here we are."
"Well, you're welcome to stay if that's what you need. You're mother might have gone the wrong way about you coming here, in fact I might have a few choice words to tell her for it, but you're as welcome as my own child. How about we get ready and have dinner? You've been out for a while and I'm sure you all could use a meal?" Rekka was relieved to hear that her aunt appeared to accept her. Getting to her feet, Rekka smiled.
"Sure."

Amber followed Rekka into the house. Things seemed all right as they entered the house and took a seat by a coffee table like structure. Amber had to admit that Rekka's aunt had a beautiful home. She liked the way the different shades of blue played off each other. Watching Ryo disappear once he was inside, Amber just rolled her eyes in response. Amber still thought that boot camp would shape that boy up. He'd have a big wake up call if he ever joined the military.
Letting Rekka and her Aunt lead the conversation, Amber did her best to listen in and off her friend her silent support. Amber was happy for Rekka. They had finally tracked down her family. How Rekka must feel in this moment. If it was Amber... well she'd be full of joy. Amber's only family had been her mother too. She had other family but they were... Well they weren't the best of people.
"I still can't believe I'm related to something so... cruel!" She thought to herself. Lakari was insane, that's for sure!
Following along with the conversation, Amber had a hard time sorting out Rekka's aunt's words. At first it sounded almost like she was berating Rekka. The way she talked about how Rekka had left her mother made it sound almost like she was saying that Rekka was a bad person. At least that was how Amber interrupted her words.
As their conversation continued though Rekka seemed alright with her aunt. Amber wondered if she picked up on the what Amber had about the conversation. Glancing at her friend, Amber turned back to her aunt when she mentioned dinner. "That is very kind of you mam. But I think I'm going to head to our inn. I want to give you guys some time to get to know each other."
Amber didn't want to bother Rekka. While she knew her friend probably would not see it that way, Amber figured that if she was in Rekka's situation she would want some time to get to know her aunt on her own. Besides it also gave Amber the chance to stop at that bakery on the way home. A nice hot loaf of bread would go good with the dinner the inn provided.
First though she waited to see what Rekka would say.

Watching from his hiding spot in the shadows, Julian Lotus watched his target enter the room and shut the door behind him. He was a short man, only five and a half feet tall. With a balding head, round belly, and dressed in brown robes, the plump little man waddled his way to his desk with a stack of hard covered books in his grasp.
Julian had slipped into the man's quarters that morning after he had left. This was his first time coming back since the morning. Hiding in the shadow of the closed door, his target had his back to him. As the man placed his books on a desk that was already covered in parchments, ink containers, and more books, he let out a sigh of relief.
Stepping up, Julian slipped the knife out of its sheath. It was a silent draw, as silent as his footsteps. When the man turned around and spotted Julian coming for him, the plump man froze in surprise and probably horror from the fear on his face.
The man's eyes immediately went to the knife in Julian's hand. Closing the distance between them by a quick run, Julian put the knife to the man's neck. "You scream, you die." He informed him. To show he was serious, Julian pressed the knife against the man's neck. Nicking it, he drew blood.
"Wh...wh..what do you want?" The man asked Julian.
Julian did not answer his question, but rather asked him a question himself. "Are you the one they call Brother John?"
The man responded with a frightened, "Y...yes. That is my name."
This was the man then. "I was told you have read every book in the great library and have memorized their contents by heart. That you are kept in this castle because you have read even the forbidden books! Is this true?! And don't you lie to me. I've gone to far now. Adding another death will not mean anything now."
"You killed Mina?!" The man accused. Julian had no idea who this Mina person was, but if she was the woman at the window then he had killed her.
Julian nicked the man's neck again. "Answer my question, scholar!"
"Yes! That is me. But why did you kill Mina?! She was a lovely girl! She'd not have harmed a fly!"
Julian didn't want to hear about the girl he killed. This was because there was some guilt in Julian for what he was doing. But now he had no choice. He had made his decision. Who would have thought that it only took a day for Julian's entire world to shatter. Just two days ago he had been reunited with Bartmiaeus, his old mentor. And now he had killed someone and was threatening to kill another.
"The Rings of In-Between. How do I activate them?"
The Brother's eyes lifted in surprise. "How do you know about such a..." He began before Julian interrupted him.
"Don't test me Brother John. My patience is wearing thin. The Rings of In-Between, thought to have been destroyed during the great war. But you and I both know that's not true."
Brother John replied, "They were moved to the Keyblade Graveyard during the war. Only a person wearing the four rings can activate them. After the war it was decided that each leader of a world would take one. That way the rings could not be activated."
That was not a good thing. Julian had known about the rings, but he wasn't sure where they were. He had hoped that he would not have to deal with the leaders of each world. But now there wasn't much of a choice. Julian had yet to lower the knife..
"You aren't thinking of stealing them? You would have to kill the kings before they gave you their rings. If you know about the rings than you know what happens if they are activated. Why would you do such a thing? Your still practically a child.
Julian did know what happened when the rings were activated. The rings were the real reason that the forces of good had defeated Emperor Lakari's army. Red Wilder III had used the rings and their power to seal more than half of the undead army in a sealed dimension. With the majority of Emperor Lakari's troops sealed away, Red Wilder III was able to defeat the forces of darkness.
"I have no choice." Was all Julian said. Letting the knife slice through the neck of Brother John, he forced himself to watch the scholarly man die. He deserved the man that much.
"It's simple Julian. Release the rings of in-between. If you don't I will kill them. Your mother, father, and your brother." Lakari's words echoed in Julian's mind. The Emperor had made it clear that Julian had no choice but to do what he wanted. Now he had to go kill a king.

Rekka wasn't sure what to make of the family members she had discovered. Now that she was here, actually meeting them, it was a mixed feeling. Amber would have probably appreciated finding family more so than Reka had at this moment. Even though her aunt was seemingly nice, Rekka wasn't sure what to make of what sounded like her being a rebellious child. Honestly, she really wasn't. Mostly, Rekka behaved herself but what child wouldn't want to find out more about their parents when given the opportunity?
What she didn't realize, as she sat there with her aunt conversing, was the fact that Amber felt like she needed to leave so that they could get to know each other. Her aunt and cousin, that is. Ryo didn't seem intent on making friends with them. He might've helped them but other than that, he didn't seem to really care. After all, once they got here, he had left for his room immediately. He didn't even look back at them or said anything when he went. At first, Rekka guessed he would come back once he was done settling something in his room. However, that proved to not be the case with how much time they spent here.
Rekka was surprised when Amber finally spoke once her aunt had offered to make dinner. She didn't think that Amber would wish to leave, feeling like she needed to let them have time to themselves. "But...Amber, you needn't have to go." Honestly, where she was really happy to know that she had other family members, Rekka didn't feel like Amber was intruding on anything. In fact, she felt more at ease knowing Amber was there. It wasn't that she thought her aunt would do anything. It was just that Rekka still felt like a stranger. With Amber, it made Rekka feel more comfortable since there was someone familiar present. Maybe being here made Amber feel bad? Rekka hoped that she hadn't reminded Amber of her own family. It must have been hard on her knowing who she was related to. Now that she thought about it, it made Rekka feel guilty.
"...Maybe I should go with you. I can come at another time..."
"Well...if you're sure...know that you can always come here when you want."
