Mentally Orion was at a crossroads. As Aiden conversed with the two knights, Orion could see two very different paths before him. This was about to be the most important moment in his entire life. To his right stood a path of destruction. It was a path of self pity, grief, doubt, depression, anxiety. It was a road of darkness.
Like all darknesses this road would be the easiest to take. It would take just a simple step. Just one step and there would be no turning back. Orion would never be able to leave that path. His spirit, his heart, would forever be broken. Just standing in front of the said road, Orion could feel what lay down it.
Many people would think such a road would be the obvious bad choice. But as all darkness does, it disguised itself in the form of relief. There would be no more worries down that road. No more battles. He would be able to loose himself once and for all down that road.
The other road? Why that road was trouble. First of all a barrier of light stood in the way of anyone who would hope to enter it. And what was down that road? Well there was no telling?! But to be sure he would have to fight that barrier to get through it. There was no safety in that road. Nothing but mystery and potential dangers!
What use was there to fighting against that barrier? What was the use of battling against such a barrier? He didn't even know what was down that road? There could be more pain for all he knew. Standing before the two roads Orion didn't know which way to go.
As Rekka and Aiden returned with the tall knight, the conversation that ensued could be heard by Orion. He couldn't see what was going on, but he could hear the voices. And they were coming from behind that barrier of light?!
"I'm not sure how to say this but...I'm the...new king of Land of Dragons?" That was Aiden wasn't it! Wait he was a king now?! What the heck?!
"If this is some sort of joke, I'm not in a mood for laughing." That was Damien! Orion was sure of it!
"We all fear death Orion." A voice spoke. Suddenly Bartimaeus fizzled into existence in front of him.
Tears filled Orion's eyes. "Why'd you have to go?! I didn't even get to tell you goodbye."
Bartimaeus chuckled. "Death comes to us all. I told you even I would die someday didn't I?"
Orion felt much like a child then. He didn't want Bartimaeus to go. He had just seen him for the first time in seven years! "It isn't fair!"
"That's life son. It's messy. It's full of ups and downs. But we only get one. I was able to spend my last few months with some beautiful women. What more could I have asked for?! Heck I even got a good peek at um when they were sleeping!"
Orion couldn't help but laugh at that one. It reminded Orion of the time his mother and he had caught Bartimaeus in bed with two of the maids. Bartimaeus had leaped out the window to dodge Orion's mother. While he was never certain, Orion was always sure there was more to their relationship than just friends.
"Now stop wasting time. Your friends are going to need you." Bartimaeus told him. Orion knew what decision he had to make. He stepped toward that barrier.
----------
The sudden sound of laughter startled Amber. She had been listening to the conversation between Aiden and Damien after the reveal that this young boy was actually going to be king. If Amber had to guess she thought that Aiden hadn't know that he was royalty. His friend hadn't seem to known either.
But the sudden sound of laughter pulled her away from them. Glancing over, she saw Orion chuckling. "The Land of Dragons is doomed! They're going to put you in charge?! Damien let's get out of here before he makes it a law we can't call him kid anymore!" It was surprising to see Orion suddenly pulled out of his grief. But he was smiling now, and laughing his head off.
Amber couldn't help but smile too. Well he seemed to be doing a little better anyway. While she really didn't know Aiden, Damien, or Aiden she guessed that Orion must have his reasons for laughing. It was a welcome reprieve from the crying and sadness.
------------------
Lakari turned to Ivan. It was time then. There was one last battle to take place. "Have the armies surround the camp. Instruct the other three to make no action until my signal. I will address these survivors. Upon my decree slaughter them all."
Deciding that he would head the last battle, Lakari prepared to leave. He would join Ivan's side at the foot of his army and address the survivors of the destroyed city. Glancing down, Lakari rested his hand at the small crumbled figure at his side. It was easy to forget the young man who simply sat curled in a ball repeating the words, "It's all my fault." to himself over and over again.
When the armies were in position he spoke. "Come my vessel. It is important you stay with me now." Stretching down he rested a hand on his shoulder. It was impossible to tell if Prince Julian recognized Lakari's words. Bis answer was to rock back and forth, and whisper, "It's all my fault."
Together Lakari teleported them to the front of Ivan's army.

Ivan ignored the crumpled mess that was once Julian. Silently, he waited to hear what the elf would say. When Lakari told him to have the armies surround what was left of the camp. The blond Head gave a nod before disappearing in the blink of an eye once Lakari had finished dishing out his orders. All they had left was to crush what was left of the resistance. Then, they could take over the rest of the worlds.
Stepping out before the rest of his armies, Ivan relayed what Lakari had told him. The other Heads who had been present immediately shifted to where the other clusters of their army would be. Once that was done, the armies surrounded the camp just outside of their victims' line of view. Patiently, they all waited for Lakari to appear and give them the signal.
--------------------------
"Er...yeah...I know, strange, huh?" Aiden replied to what Damien had said. Damien just looked between Kane and Aiden, hard. It looked as though he were trying to see if either would crack and say it was a joke. When neither wavered, the former member of the Order crossed his arms slowly as it dawned on him. He made to open his mouth before it was interrupted by the sudden sound of laughter. All of them turned their heads in the direction the laughter came from. There, laughing his head off, was Orion.
Damien couldn't help but blink with surprise before hearing Orion's words. Even after what happened to Bartimaeus, Damien couldn't help but feel amused about the notion of Aiden becoming king. Orion's laughter was infectious. Soon enough, even Damien allowed some chuckling. "No matter how old he gets, regardless if he's king or not, he'll still be a kid to me!" Damien retorted.
Aiden put his hands on his hips, obviously annoyed by the fact the others were still going to call him a kid. "H-Hey! That's not cool, guys!" Aiden whined. In a heartbeat, it seemed like things were almost normal again. However, none of them realized how short their moment of peace was going to actually be.
Rekka blinked at the sudden turn of events. Orion was laughing his head off and soon, everyone's mood seemed to have lifted. She didn't know any of them but she silently appreciated the momentary reprieve from the sadness and guilt. Where she didn't laugh, Rekka did manage a smile at that before glancing toward the horizon. She wasn't sure why but something was nagging at her. Maybe it was because she was paranoid? Every time that Amber and Rekka seemed to find a moment's peace, it was snatched away almost instantly. Of course, she had no sixth sense so there was no way of her telling whether or not there actually was any danger. Dismissing it as her just being paranoid, Rekka just remained where she was next to Amber.
"Well, if you're going to be king, you've a lot to learn, Aiden. In fact, the idea of you being king frightens me." Aiden gave an exasperated sigh at all the teasing the other two were giving him. Kane, on the other hand, where he had been surprised by the others' reactions just silently remained put. They were Aiden's friends after all. Kane wouldn't do them any harm. Besides, who could blame them for finding this whole thing funny? It was, admittedly, a crazy idea but it was all this world had.
"Yeah, yeah! Laugh it up guys!" Aiden retorted. Although he seemed unhappy that they were teasing him, Aiden even seemed to find it a little funny. He was just glad that everyone wasn't so depressed anymore.

Picking himself up off the ground, Orion joined the group. Approaching Aiden, Orion couldn't help but place his hand on his hair and mess it up. "Damien's got it right. You may become king one day, but I don't think you'll ever cease being kid to us." Sharing a laugh with everyone felt good. Anything besides crying and being depressed felt good.
In the back of his mind, there was that sadness. As Aiden retorted back at them, Orion could feel it. A lot had happened to them, the death of Bartimaeus being a huge one. But it was manageable. He would have time to cry and be sad later. For now he would focus on his friends. Their adventure wasn't over yet.
Amber listened to the interaction. She too was sad about Bartimaeus but this was a warm relief. Gesturing for Rekka to help her, Amber got up off the ground. They had been here long enough. Perhaps now was the time to return back to camp. They would have to figure out what course of action they were going to take next. It was still important that they return back to their world. That was the original plan before all of this mess.
With the sun setting, the sky was a collage of purple, bright blue, and yellow. They had about and hour or so of sunlight before darkness hit. They wouldn't be going anywhere tonight. "Tomorrow we can figure out what to do from here." She thought.
--------------
Lakari appeared by Ivan's side. The appearance of the armies had brought out people. Some thousand or so people had escaped from the large city. They were scattered and grouped in about four small groups of tents and medical centers, but people moved from one camp to the other freely. The sudden sight of a bunch of people though would gather anyone's attention.
"Stay close to me now." Lakari told Julian. This time Julian did rise. He still mimicked the same words over and over again, but he at least seemed able to control his body somewhat. Lakari held out his hand and the wrapped keyblade appeared in it. Slowly Lakari once again began to unwrap the mystical sheath from the blade. As he did the light in the sky suddenly began to focus above Lakari. As the blade was revealed in all its glory, and Lakari raised the blade, A pillar of light fell from the heavens and engulfed Lakari.
Using the power of the light, Lakari made it possible so that his voice could be heard over the camps and to the other three surrounding armies. "Survivors of the Imperial City. On this day, I do pass judgment on thee. So it what was written may be fulfilled. And so it was that at the edge of destruction the clouds of war gathered and the drums of war beat. The Great War began once more." The pillar of light ceased as the light fell until all of it disappeared into the keyblade leaving nothing but darkness and the light of the moon and stars.
"Shall we Ivan?" Lakari asked Ivan. His voice ceased to carry over the moment the pillar of light had disappeared into his keyblade. It was time to take over this filthy world. As the battle began and the armies charged forward, Lakari whispered to himself. "Darkness covered the worlds. The god of darkness rose." Lakari would be that god. No serpent or a so called false god of darkness was going to prevent that. Two days would be all that he needed.

Aiden frowned at the two older males. Where it annoyed him to be called kid, it was sort of an affectionate nickname the two referred to him as being his friends. When Orion approached, Aiden didn't expect the more demeaning ruffling of the hair to take place. Thus, he let out a gasp as Orion ruffled his blue hair. "H-HEY!" he protested. It looks like the name would stick with Aiden for the rest of his life whenever Damien and Orion were around. At least, for now, the mood had lightened up a bit. Of course, none of them had forgotten about Bartimaeus.
When Amber waved over Rekka, Rekka went to her friend and helped her stand up. They really were at a loss on what to do from here. Amber still had to get used to her disability. How would the two of them manage to fight? 'No, don't think about that right now,' Rekka reminded herself. She didn't need to worry herself sick and throw herself into mourning again. Plus, she didn't need to worry Amber. Spekaing of which, her friend appeared to be deep in thought.
"We should probably go and get some rest...we've all had a rough day."
Damien, only then, was reminded that there were two random women in their midst. He still didn't know who they were. All they knew about them was just their names. Amber was the blond and Rekka was the red head. The pair of them had accompanied that unfortunate man that went by the name of Bartimaeus. A man whom Orion had known as a child and viewed as a father figure. Just what were they doing out here anyway? From what he could tell, Amber couldn't walk right on her own just yet and the other girl was missing an eyeball if that eyepatch wasn't there for show. Regardless of their vulnerabilities they weren't at all tarnished in their looks. Of course, Damien wasn't looking at them in that manner but he did notice that both woman didn't appear to have gone through much wear and tear despite one missing a limb and the other an eye.
"I won't argue that...what about you guys?" Damien asked Orion and Aiden as he looked to them. He guessed they may or may not part ways depending on the connection Bartimaeus had with both of their groups.
"Sounds...good." Aiden glanced between Orion and Damien. Honestly, he'd rather follow them around and do what they would do. He didn't yet have the sense of individuality like a leader was suppose to have. That much, Kane could tell as he silently listened to the conversation going on around him where Aiden was concerned. He had his work cut out for him, that much was clear. On top of it, Aiden was known to have a rebellious nature. This boy would not be easy to tame and mold into a king, that was for sure. Still, if that's what it took to save the world then so be it.
Then, that voice that came from nowhere was heard. Rekka's heart felt like it had stopped for a moment. "What the-? Now?! Here?!" Rekka exclaimed. Aiden's eyes widened as he gaped upward. Something was going on with the heavens above. Damien furrowed his brow as he gritted his teeth. Summoning his sword to his hand, Damien wondered if they should attempt escape rather than fighting a war here. Could they leave these people to their doom? Would there even be a world to return to if they fled?
"Damn it! Just can't cut us a break, can they?" Damien growled.

Like his companions Orion did not notice the sky grow dark. He had not seen the light retreat across the sky. By the time it had a loud voice had proceeded to tell them all that they were about to be judged. Whatever that meant!
"Seriously?!" Orion asked aloud to the heavens. More trouble? As if destruction and a funeral hadn't been enough for one day. In all honesty Orion was completely exhausted. The battle with that woman had taken a lot out of him. He hadn't the strength or the will to fight whatever was coming.
Amber was the first to spot it. "There!" She yelled, pointing towards the west. They saw them then. Figures rapidly closing the distance. There were hundreds of them! Amber glanced at Rekka. She was in no shape for a fight. Heck she didn't know how she'd fight in her state.
But what were they to do? There were good people here. They were all going to die if they didn't do something! Amber looked to Rekka. For once she didn't know what to do. "I don't think I can be that useful in battle. What should we do?"
Of course none of them knew what Kane or Aiden might be thinking. This was there home world. It would only be right if the two thought that they should protect it. Orion glanced to Aiden. He would have liked to dodge this battle, but he couldn't just stand by and do nothing could he? Not when there were innocents!
Plus there was that voice. Orion thought the voice sounded familiar. While he didn't know for certain he had a good inkling as to who it was. "You have a point um... mam. Some of us are not fit for battle. What do we do guys?" Orion hadn't gotten either of their names so he had to settle for mam.
Whatever they decided it didn't seem they had too much time. They needed to make a decision and quick!

Aiden looked all around, trying to find who had spoken. That voice, it sounded very familiar. It made Aiden feel as if ice had suddenly gone down his spine. He hadn't forgotten the pain he went through to undergo the change he did. Where is face was mostly normal, his teeth were sharper and his ears more pointed. In the light, as the light shifted, his pupils dilated to adapt to the change. Even now, Kane was starting to see it and couldn't help but look on in wonder. What was this? There hadn't been Dragoon blood in the Wilder family for some time since Lance.
All of them were on edge as they glanced around. Then, finally, Amber pointed out in the distance figures coming their way. Rekka felt her heart skip a beat. There was no mistaking the fact that those figures were enemies. They were armed and looked dangerous as they rapidly made their way toward the camp.
"As if the loss of Bartimaeus and the meteor shower wasn't enough!" Rekka exclaimed. It was obvious that she, too, saw the seriousness of their situation and how unlikely it would be for either of them to survive this ordeal. This medical tent and the tents around it wasn't even full of armed people. These were innocents for the most part. They were on the bad end of things, that was for sure. Some of them couldn't even fight. Rekka knew that Amber couldn't. Rekka, although she was emotionally drained, still had some fight left in her but she had a blind side.
As Orion spoke, addressing the issue that Amber brought up, he had turned toward his companions. Damien, without looking at Orion at first, turned toward the oncoming siege. His expression was hardened and loathing. Land of Dragons, although this wasn't his true home, he had considered it very much so as his home.
"I will portal those of you who cannot fight out of here but I will remain until a necessary retreat takes place, I refuse to run. Besides, I've a little score to settle. Those forces are clearly that of the Order's."
Aiden wasn't sure what to do. He didn't want for Damien to fight by himself. Damien wasn't exactly invincible! Kane unsheathed his sword as he stood beside Aiden. "Your majesty, if you will it, I shall fight beside you. I cannot guarantee that this will be a winning battle for our side...however, if you must fight, I insist that when things get too dangerous that you take a portal out of here. If that gentleman will so kindly do it before anything happens to him."
Damien spared a grumpy glance in Kane's direction. Neither man made eye contact since Kane seemed more focused on what was coming their way rather than having a glare contest with Damien. "I am not foolish enough to get myself killed. If I have to, I will pull out and those of you I can along with me." Aiden bit his lip before looking toward Orion and the girls.
"I'm staying. This is my home, I want to defend it while I can." Turning toward the fight, Aiden extended his hands and in them appeared the two swords once more. "I'll see you guys soon!" he said, sounding cheerful. It might be the last time they all saw each other.
"I've a blind spot, but I'll fight too."
Damien gave a nod before tearing open a portal. "Those of you who want to leave, do so now. They're nearly upon us! This portal will take you to a hopefully safer haven than here." Rekka helped Amber toward the portal.

What was she to do? Amber didn't want to be the only one not to fight. But how could she fight in her condition? She'd be a sitting duck ready to be slaughtered? "Damn it all! If I hadn't lost my leg I could fight!" She thought to herself. For the last five years Amber had been a soldier. Fighting, commanding troops, that had been her life. Even now the battle called to her. She didn't want to just sit by and run! These people were going to be slaughtered if they did nothing.
Orion similarly saw that he couldn't just leave. Aiden, Damien, and even that one girl... what was her name? They all wanted to stay and fight. "I'll be staying and fighting too." He wouldn't just leave his friends to fight all by themselves. Turning to the other girl though he couldn't see how she was going to fight.
That decision was made as Rekka helped Amber through the portal. Reluctantly Amber headed into it. Orion didn't know where the portal led. Hopefully somewhere safe. Joining his friends, Orion summoned the Sword of Storms. It wasn't too long before Rekka joined them.
As the figures came closer, Orion began to make out the faces of the enemy. Sure enough, Damien was right about the enemy. They wore the familiar armor of the Order of the Destroyer. And wasn't that the same man who had attacked Damien and Orion before? Damien's father? Or was it step-father? Wasn't he supposed to be dead?
What surprised Orion was the two who ran along side him. First there was the tall elf. He had been the one who had battled and seemingly defeated Ivan. What was he doing with the Order of the Destroyer? And that other person! Why it was Julian! Why was Orion's brother running with the Order of the Destroyer?!
Unknowingly, Rekka too would recognize Julian. She had met with him before when they had traveled to the Enchanted Domain. Damien would no doubt recognize Ivan. Orion was suddenly very confused. But there wasn't much time to consider things. The first enemy came towards them, a beast of a man wielding a battle axe.

Rekka knew it had to bother Amber to be the only one out of them that was unable to fight. In her condition, Amber would only be a sitting duck. Since Damien had provided the portal for those that couldn't or didn't wish to fight, Rekka had helped Amber to the portal. As she did so, she gave Amber a smile. "Don't worry, Amber. I'll be back before you know it!" she told her. She, truthfully, didn't know if she would be able to but she didn't want for Amber to worry. She didn't want Amber to think that she was going to lose her too or worry. Of course, Rekka knew it was inevitable that Amber would worry. Regardless, she tried to make it less worrisome.
As soon as she had helped Amber through the portal, Rekka watched as she entered before turning toward the others. Walking over, Rekka picked up her father's sword as she watched the forces coming their way. As she did so, Rekka could feel the fire within her coming to life. The fear, the necessary emotion that tended to make the armor come out or her anger, made the kanji letters appear on her body before her red armor appeared, protecting her. A kanji letter for fire appeared on her forehead as well as a helmet appeared on her head. While Rekka was undergoing this, Damien suddenly had armor appear on his body as well. Unlike her's, it was dark blue in color and fashioned differently. Yet, just like Rekka, the kanji letters on hid body had appeared and took form into that armor. Unlike her's, his stood for water.
Aiden, although he didn't have armor like the others save for what lay underneath his clothes but was light compared to the full on armor the others had, was raring to go whilst Kane ensured to stick close to him. It wasn't going to be an easy battle.
"Here they come! Get ready!" Damien called to the others. As they braced for the oncoming wave of enemies, Rekka took sight of who was coming at them. She didn't recognize Damien's adoptive father, Ivan nor had she physically sen Lakari. However, she did notice Julian.
"What's Julian doing with them?" Rekka voiced the question. Last she knew, the young prince had been kind and helped Amber, Bartimaeus and her. Did his father put him in this position? What father would put their own child in such a position? This wasn't going to be an easy battle and from the look of things, they were going to be pitted against a friend, even.
As the rush of foes finally reached them, a man carrying a battle axe came for them. He was massive. Rekka could tell that he wasn't going to go down easy as the man raised his arms to swing at them. The axe was as wide and huge as its wielder. Aiden zipped off to the side as the man made a lunge and proceeded to climb up the man's arm lithely. As he reached the man's shoulder, Aiden stabbed at the man's shoulder before leaping off. It was more obvious to Kane that Aiden wasn't completely human by the way he had moved.

Amber took a seat on the ground. The portal that Damien had created had sent him to some sort of mountain. From here, Amber could actually see what was going on down below. It was a somber sight to behold. Even though it was dark, the light of fires from across the land illuminated all the destruction. It really looked like the world was being destroyed.
Down below, Orion readied for battle. The surprise of seeing Julian made him pause. He had not noticed the armor that appeared on Damien or Rekka's person. Heck he didn't even notice the kanji letter that glowed on his own hand. If he had he might have realized that the outline of an armor similar to theirs was outlined around him, almost as if he only needed to see it to will it into existence.
The appearance of a large brute and others caused Orion to shift his focus. A snake of a man came at him wielding a curved sword. At the same time the others would find opponents closing in on them as well. Orion brought his long sword up with both hands to deflect the enemy's shorter blade. The enemy's weapon, unlike the axe or Orion's longsword, was meant for speed. It was shorter in length however which meant that the enemy had to hesitate before trying to close in the distance between them.
The two did a sort of dance, circling one another. Orion took a step forward and swung at his opponent in a vertical fashion. Knowing that the liklihood of such an attack would probably miss he brought the blade back around in a horizontal fashion to attack from that direction. Orion predicted that the enemy would dodge the first attack by stepping closer. Obviously the enemy would hope to get in a slash with his own weapon then. He would be disrupted however by Orion's blade coming from the heavens. The opponent, if he was lucky, would realize his mistake and bring his weapon up to block it. That would though, leave him open for a different, unexpected attack from Orion.
As predicted the enemy did manage to see the weapon coming. And in a predictable fashion he brought his curved blade up to block the attack. As Orion's weapon clinked off of his opponent's, Orion let out a kick with his right leg. Sweeping the man's feet from underneath him Orion was suddenly filled with a surge of anger. It was a different type of anger compared to the darkness that had once use to overcome him. This anger was more like a tempest. Something that Orion was all familiar with.
A mighty wind surrounded Orion's fist as a pocket of intense air pressure surrounded his fist. Punching downward Orion's fist smashed through the opponent's chest plate with such strength that it left a baseball size hole in his opponent. Unknown to Orion an armor had appeared on him then. It was almost identical in fashion to Damien's half armor, except his was colored an emerald green.
His opponent wasn't going to be getting up any time soon. Looking around Orion wanted to see if he could spot Julian, but what he saw instead was chaos. The enemy was fully upon them now. Orion found himself facing a pulled bow and arrow pointed right at him!

When the forces had come, Damien could only think of transferring those near to somewhere further out. Somewhere high would do if only to prevent anyone from getting up there. Thus, he spotted the mountains in the distance and had decidedly ripped open a portal that would lead right to it. There, Amber found herself looking upon the scenery below. Damien, since he hadn't gone with Amber, wouldn't know how the world looked from Amber's viewpoint.
Aiden heard the massive man let out a yelp when he had stabbed his shoulder. Blood hadn't spurted like the young Wilder had been hoping for. His intent had been to be a swift and painless kill, a strike for the jugular but he had missed by a small margin. As he landed, the man swung wildly. His aim would have hit true if it weren't for Kane that blocked the attack. Although Kane were tall, the man with the axe was much larger and stronger. Kane, although he managed to stay on his feet, had quite a struggle to keep the axe from continuing its dangerous path toward Aiden. The result was a loud clash, Kane getting sent back four feet with his feet somehow still in the ground with him still somehow standing, and a dent in Kane's sword.
"Not on my watch!" Kane growled before pushing with all his might to cause the axe to fling off of his sword. The two proceeded to continue the fight whilst the others soon became preoccupied with their own scuffles. Damien found himself surrounded by three. All of them were snickering. "Long time no see, Damien." Damien remained still as he looked at either of his foes.
"You do realize...that I trained each of you?" Damien stated, noting their very faces. Oh yes, he recognized all three of them.
"So what? You left, Ivan has no use for you and frankly, we never liked you. Sorry, nothing too personal but we're going to kill you here and now." All three closed in on him charging at once. Damien just shook his head. Letting a hand drip wet with water, Damien swung his free arm at one of them. The result was water arching outward. The water itself slashed right through the man's neck, killing him instantly. As for the other two, Damien side stepped that one and then brought his sword up to block the final man's blade before pushing him backward. Now, there were just two foes focused on Damien.
Now, Rekka on the other hand, had a bit more of a struggle than the rest. She wasn't as skilled as the others in battle since she barely trained and only learned what she could during her travels. So, when she found herself faced with clearly a more seasoned fighter, Rekka found herself in quite a struggle. Narrowly, she managed to block the other's attacks. A lot of the time, she found herself guessing at what her opponent would do next. It wasn't easy since sometimes she found herself having to dodge or finding herself pretty damn lucky that she avoided a limb getting cut off thanks to the half armor. Soon, she became frustrated with it all.
'I've been a burden numbers of times before! I don't want to be a burden anymore!' Rekka thought angrily. As she got angry, fire surged about her body. The sudden flare up had startled her opponent into leaping back. When they did, it left an opening for Rekka to slash at the man's navel. Her sword struck true and he went down. As she recovered from that, there was a sudden sense of danger. Not that there wasn't danger around her but it felt like it was coming from somewhere close by. Bringing her gaze upward, in unison with Damien, the two spotted an archer aiming right for Orion! Since Damien still had one more person to contend with, it wasn't easy for him to shoot a stream of water. Also, he needed to be in a six foot range of the individual.
"Orion! Look out!" Damien exclaimed. He wasn't sure why but Damien had also sensed danger. He had no idea that it was their armor and power communicating with one another.
Of course, seeing that there was an archer about to fire, the only thing that crossed Rekka's mind then was to throw a fire ball at the enemy. Where it might not kill the man, it would definitely prevent him from firing at his intended target. "Fire ball!" Rekka shouted, tossing a fire ball at the archer. Whether or not it landed, Rekka didn't get to find out since a glint of metal had cut her attention away from what was going on with the others. While she had turned to toss that fire ball earlier, a foe came up from her blind spot and tried to slash her while she was busy. Rekka's reaction was to stagger backward, barely avoiding the attack.
When she recovered, she was soon thrown into the defensive as the foe tried to cleave at her again.
Over all, things weren't looking good but so far, the group seemed to be alive for now. How long would it be before someone got badly hurt?
Ivan slunk through the crowd. He could sense his adoptive son somewhere. Anyone that got in his way, he cut in two in a matter of seconds. Due to the changes that Lakari had caused, Ivan had become much more wilder. His slashes were much stronger allowing for easy and clean cleaves. He was like the Grim Reaper in his cloak as he walked through the camp.

"Arrows can be deadly. When faced with an experienced archer at close range don't bother trying to deflect such an attack. You'd have better chance at stopping magic. If you must get hit by an arrow, do your best to let it hit a non-vital area. That's your best bet." Bartimaeus's words were clear as a chime in Orion's head.
There was no dodging that arrow completely. He watched the enemy's hand that pulled back the arrow. The moment those fingers loose he would move. He'd try to turn so that the arrow at least stabbed something non-vital like his heart, lung, or anything like that. How he wished he had armor on! That would have made this much easier! Of course Orion did have armor on, he just didn't realize it. The armor had not added any weight to his being, so it went by unnoticed.
What happened next though surprised him. Suddenly a ball of fire slammed into the archer, throwing him back and lighting him on fire. Where had that come from?! Looking to his left, Orion spotted Rekka with her hand outstretched. She had thrown the fire! But she didn't see the man swiping his blade in her left flank. "Look out!" He shouted.
Whether it was instinct or his words, Rekka just managed to dodge the attack. There was no time for him to keep watching her though. Another enemy was approaching him, this one wielding a spear. Orion hated spears! They were a weapon that could be deadly to a swordsman. The six foot pole arm was most effective in terms of stabs, but such an attack kept a swordsman at bay. If Orion was strong enough, perhaps he'd be able to knock his opponent's weapon out of his hand. But that was not going to be easy.
"It's times like these I wish I could use magic!" He thought as his opponent stabbed forward with the spear. Orion deflected the attack with his sword, striking the steel pole and pushing it to the side. There was no stepping forward to get into range though. The opponent was quick with his weapon, bringing it overhead to try and knock Orion's head.
He couldn't block the attack in time! He was forced to dodge to the left by pivoting on his back foot. That exposed his back however to any unlikely foe who might be approaching. Orion felt a sharp pain in his right shoulder. His armor, only being half formed, was plated and a dagger had been thrown right between the spot where the plates separated on his right shoulder. Orion let out a grunt of anger and pain.
Instinctively, Orion punched outward with his left arm at the poleman. A blast of highly condensed air shot out and knocked the poleman off his feet. Turning about he punched with his free hand again, this time to the owner of the dagger who was charging him with a drawn sword. Another blast of condensed wind shot outward and smacked the opponent in the chest. It knocked him back five feet and left him on his ass.
Neither opponent rose, but Orion's swordhand hung limply. His weapon had fallen to the ground the moment that dagger had stabbed him in the shoulder. His arm was locked and unmoving. And damn the pain hurt!

Damien, who had seen the whole thing, was relieved to see that the archer hadn't shot Orion. It had been a lucky thing that red head could toss fire. Now, Damien was forced to focus on his own problems. Where he had managed to dispose of the three that had been attacking him earlier, a new problem arose.
"Well, well, well...we meet again, Damien."
Damien's heart almost stopped at that very familiar, dark voice. Turning, Damien found himself facing Ivan. Ivan, although he no longer wore the hood over his head, still looked as intimidating as he ever did. Damien, as soon as he saw Ivan, narrowed his eyes with hatred. The man might have raised Damien but he hadn't been kind to Damien at all. As far as Damien was concerned, killing Ivan was what he had in mind. Ivan was his enemy. Yet, how was he going to defeat him? The last time they fought, it had been alongside Orion and even then, he hadn't been an easy foe. In fact, Ivan didn't seem like he would be able to die.
"Ivan!" Damien growled out the name. Ivan just smirked. Even though he was human in appearance, the look in his eyes and the way he held that eerie smirk was far from normal. Without warning, Ivan struck out with both of his blades. Damien, reflexively, brought his sword up to counter them both. When the swords clashed, Ivan and Damien's faces were at least a foot apart from one another as they glared at each other. "I'm going to kill you."
"Brave words for someone who is about to die."
Ivan sent a blast of electricity at Damien. At their close proximity, Damien got hit by the lightning. All he could do was let out a yelp as he was sent flying back several feet from the blast. If he didn't have his armor on, that would've hurt much more. Getting to his feet, Damien winced. He wasn't out of the count just yet.
While Damien was busy, Aiden and Kane were dealing with the large man with the axe. Kane had managed to keep him at bay but he wasn't getting anywhere with the struggle alone. Aiden knew this as he watched the two fight. Not wishing or Kane to do all the work, only likely to get exhausted and die, Aiden waited for an opening. As soon as there was one, the young Dragoon leapt into the air and landed on the axe wielder's shoulders again. This time, his strike struck true as he hit the man's jugular. He was down in an instant.
Rekka, as soon as she had narrowly avoided getting a limb cut off, was in another struggle with the new enemy. The two did a series of dodging and lunging before finally, Rekka had enough and remembered that she had fire that she could use to her advantage. Once again, she sent out fire from her hand but this time, like a flamethrower. The man went up in flames in an instant. The man's cries hadn't been pleasant to hear but she knew if she didn't, he would have killed her.
"Whew, this is getting intense!" Rekka muttered to herself. As she took a glance around them, Rekka couldn't help but feel a sense of helplessness. There were just too many of them!

While each party member took on their own respective enemy or enemies, Lakari slowly approached. The tall elf stood out for several reasons. The first was the glowing large keyblade he held in his hand. Second each time someone approached a swing of his keyblade brought a wave of energy in various forms. First it was a blast of fire. Next a blast of white light that could only be electricity. A third swing made the very earth erupt as several spikes impaled a poor woman from all directions.
Julian walked close to Lakari. He did not participate in the battle, but he didn't need to. He was like a frightened child as he practically walked on Lakari's heels. As the two came to a stop in front of Aiden, Rekka, and Orion, Julian's eyes were downcast. If he noticed his brother, former friend. or the young boy, he did not show it. "It's all my fault." He whispered to himself again.
Lakari on the other hand simply eyed the battle between Ivan and Damien. He watched Ivan send a blast of electricity at the boy.
Orion, spotting his brother shouted to him. "Julian!" What was his brother doing here! And why was he with that elf? Not only that but did he have a keyblade?! Weren't keyblades supposed to belong to heroes? Orion was certainly confused!
Julian's response was the same as it always was. He spoke his mantra, and kept his eyes downcast. What was going on? Why wasn't he recognizing him? Was this because he disowned his name? Orion didn't understand it.
Lakari simply smiled. "Well isn't this an interesting sight. I did not expect your passes to cross. But where is the other two? The bard and that blond girl?" He was instructing Rekka.

As soon as Damien had recovered, he lunged for Ivan. His adoptive father just chuckled as Damien charged at him. As soon as he came in range, again, Ivan outstretched his hand but Damien was ready for it. Tearing ope a portal and popping out on the other side, ending up behind Ivan, Damien jabbed at Ivan's back. Ivan, having been cocky, didn't expect this and let out an agonized grunt as Damien stabbed him in the center of the back. Normal people would have been done with. Ivan. on the other hand, turned around as Damien yanked out his sword. Although there was a hole where Damien stabbed Ivan, Ivan acted as if nothing were wrong.
"I see you have learned a trick or two."
Amidst all the fighting, Rekka felt an unpleasant chill go down her spine as a certain commotion amongst the chaos took place. Turning, Rekka felt the hairs on the back of her neck prickle as she spotted Lakari. He had a keyblade in hand and standing just behind him was Julian. Aiden gave sudden pause too as he spotted Lakari. Oh, he hadn't forgotten the voice of the one that hurt him as Orion called out to Julian, his brother. Rekka wondered why Julian wasn't responding. He seemed as if he were in some sort of state of shock.
"Julian!" Rekka called out to him. Neither of them seemed to be getting through to him. All Julian did was murmur to himself, looking shocked. What happened to him?
While the others were busy, Damien was still fighting Ivan. Their clashes could be heard while they fought. Surprisingly, Damien was able to withstand his fight against Ivan, at least for now although it was still a struggle to behold. With every swing, Ivan blocked it. Damien had only been lucky once to get that strike when he did.
As Lakari smiled, Rekka heard the elf speak. His attention had centered on Rekka then as he questioned where Amber and Bartimaeus were. What was she to say? Somehow, she didn't think telling him would be wise. Yet, what would he do if they didn't give him the answers that he wanted? Rekka glanced at the others before turning to the elf again. Her expression hardened. She had no clue where Amber was but all she knew was that Damien had torn open a portal and she helped her go to the opposite side of it. Rekka hadn't known where Amber was exactly. Bartimaeus, on the other hand, she didn't think it would be wise to say that he was dead. Then again, that woman was a minion of his, wasn't she? He'd eventually find out even if she didn't tell him.
"Why do you want to know?" Rekka countered his question with that of her own. She could feel nothing but a steadily rising anger within her. These people were suffering and Bartimaeus was dead. Speaking with the enemy was a struggle in itself.

Orion could hear the clash of steel coming from the battle between Damien and his step father. He took a brief moment to glance in that direction. The two were locked in a fierce battle. Orion's heart reached out to his friend. He was fighting a tough opponent. Having fought against Ivan with Damien before, Orion knew that Damien's step father was not an easy opponent.
But they had their own worries. The elf seemed to recognize Rekka, for he asked about Bartimaeus and the other girl. Just what was their history? How did they know the elf. And what of his brother? Why was he by the elf's side. Why wasn't he answering him?
Hearing Rekka's response, Lakari raised an eyebrow. He glanced behind them, his eyes resting on the shovel and loose earth. "Oh I see." He responded. A grin creased his lips. It sent a chill up Orion's face. That was a look of someone who had very evil plans.
Lakari raised his keyblade and pointed it at Bartimaeus's grave. Before Orion could ask what the elf was doing a ball of light shot out of the keyblade. Was he trying to destroy Bartimaeus's grave? Well Orion wasn't going to sit by and let that happen! Orion may not have been able to pick up his sword but he was starting to get the hang of the wind blast thing. Making a fist with his left hand, he shot a blast of air at Lakari by punching in his direction.
The elf's response was unexpected. He grabbed Julian by the arm and pulled him in front of the blast. Orion went wide eyes as the blast struck Julian and knocked him three feet back. Orion had just hit his brother! "Julian, no!" Orion hadn't meant it. The blast was for that grinning elf.

Damien hated that smile on Ivan's face. He wanted to reach out and tear the man's face off or do something to cause Ivan some serious pain. Yet, every time, Ivan met him strike for strike. Even when Damien relied on his portal ability to hop in and out to try and surprise him, Ivan was still on him. There had to be some way that he could surprise him.
Rekka remained put. She tried to do her best to not give any indication of where Amber was and what became of Bartimaeus. However, as Lakari rose a brow, he glanced just beyond them where Bartimaeus's grave was. Had he figured out what happened? Then again, did he think both Amber and Bartimaeus were dead? Honestly, she couldn't tell but she certainly didn't like the look on his face. No doubt, he had something in mind as he extended his weapon and sent a sort of light toward Bartimaeus's grave!
"No!" Rekka exclaimed. Where she knew Bartimaeus wouldn't likely feel it, since he was dead, she was worried what that light was going to do. Would it just desecrate the grave or was it meant to do something more? Orion wasn't going to let that happen. Rekka was surprised to see that he sent out a burst of air at Lakari. She didn't know that he could do that. Aiden, too, gaped over at Orion but then gaped more so when he had hit Julian instead when Lakari had pulled him into Orion's attack!
"Hey! That's not nice!" Aiden exclaimed. Kane let out an exasperated sigh at that. Since when was fighting nice?
"You coward!" Rekka snarled at the elf. Yes, her anger got the better of her then as she flared up, saying that very thing. Poor Julian had been used like a human meat shield! "What did you do?!" she exclaimed, glancing toward where the light had gone. Even if she had been able to move, she might not have been able to block that light, whatever it was. For some reason, she had a very bad feeling about it.
There was no getting through Ivan's attacks. If this kept up, Damien would eventually tire out. Ivan looked like that was what he was waiting for. Those eyes of Ivan's spoke of many schemes he had in mind to torture Damien with. Damien wasn't going to let him have the satisfaction of torturing him, however. Damien felt a slow, rising anger that welled up within him like the sea. As it came to rise, Damien unleashed it. There was a sound of rushing water in the distance and shouts of surprise. Blinking, Damien and Ivan looked over. A tidal wave was headed their way!
Considering how fast the tidal wave was moving at, Damien couldn't avoid the wave and neither could Ivan. The tidal wave rose and crashed over them. When the water subsided and cleared, however, only Damien was standing. Ivan had been washed some distance away. Damien wondered at that. Had he just summoned forth a tidal wave? Confusedly, Damien looked to find the others now that his father had been pushed back. What he saw made his heart almost stop. Lakari was there! Making to take a step toward them, Damien hadn't paid attention to his adoptive father then. Sure enough, Ivan took that opening and zapped Damien. Damien crumpled to the ground, gritting his teeth in pain. Now, both Ivan and Damien were on their knees coughing and spluttering.

If Orion had the time he might have had a chance to watch Damien's battle. It would surely have been a sight to see. The way he summoned a tidal wave to try and take out Ivan. However, given the situation and the fact that his little brother was now involved, his eyes were only for Lakari. He was really starting to despise the elf. Just what had they done to render the way he treated them?
Kane had the right form of thinking about war and battles. This wasn't some game. Lakari didn't have time to just sit here and idle by. He did have things he needed to do. It was actually just coincidence that he had crossed by Rekka, Orion, Aiden, Damien, and Kane. However he wasn't going to leave without giving them a fight. If they tried to get in his way things could get complicated. For that reason he had summoned that bright light.
If anyone watched the grave, which Orion did not. They would spot a hand shove out of it. Slowly the headless body of Bartimaeus rose out of the grave. Once it was out of the grave it reached down and pulled out its head, which blinked and gazed upon the scene. Upon seeing the dead warrior rise, Lakari smiled.
For those who remembered the Great War, one of the most terrifying things of the Empire was the fact that often necromancers brought back the dead ones they just killed to turn on you. What was worse was those dead knew exactly what they were doing, but could not control themselves. Picking up the discarded shovel in his other free hand. The dead Bartimaeus slowly walked behind the unawares party. When he was within distance he attacked Rekka from her blindspot, striking with the shovel.

Damien didn't care if anyone had been watching the fight between himself and Ivan. It had merely been like any other battle. Sure, he was fighting someone that was likely stronger than he was in certain aspects but all it was, was a fight. Damien had hoped to kill Ivan but that didn’t look like it would be happening anytime soon. The two of them were on their knees.
”Hmph, so you’ve improved since I last fought you alone…no matter, you won’t survive.”
Damien coughed before pushing himself up onto his feet as he saw Ivan doing the same. Ivan stretched out a hand, his eyes turning a misty purple in color as thunder crashed overhead. Damien recognized that move. Without hesitating, Damien rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding a massive thunderbolt that had crashed onto the ground seconds later.
”I know all of your moves, Ivan.”
Ivan gave a dark chuckle at that. ”And I know all of your’s.” Damien shook his head at that. Ivan wouldn’t know the full extent of what Damien could do. Why? Well, even Damien had no idea just what he could do. He was still discovering his water abilities.
”No, you’re wrong. There are abilities that even I don’t know I have. You lie.”
”Just what use are abilities if you don’t even know how to use them?” Ivan countered what Damien said. The youth just shook his head. He wasn’t sure why but suddenly, he had confidence. The storm above them, for some reason, was calling down to him. The calling of thunder clouds, although they helped Ivan’s abilities also helped Damien as well. How and why? Well, they were all about to figure this out soon enough. The downside to this ability, however, was that it wasn’t a safe one to even use. Of course, since Damien didn’t know this, there was no way for him to try to stop it. It just started to come. A sign was the sudden downpour.
”AHCK! It’s raining hard!” Aiden exclaimed when heavy rain drops hammered down from on high. None of them knew Damien, in his will to kill Ivan, was causing this.
Rekka let out an exclamation as well. ”Oh no-!” she made to say before she suddenly saw stars. A burst of light filled her vision when something hard hit the side of her head. If it hadn’t been for the helmet on her head, Rekka would have been killed right then and there with that strike. Dazed, Rekka staggered and stumbled off to the side. With all the rain, it was more difficult for her to even see before she finally spotted what had hit her.
”B-Bartimaeus?!” Rekka exclaimed but no, it wasn’t him. Yes, it was his body and he was very much alive albeit in a grotesque fashion but this didn’t seem like him. Bartimaeus, even when he was mad, wouldn’t have hit her.

As the heavy rain began to pour, Orion lifted his arm to try and block some of the rain from blinding his vision. Unfortunately this was also the time that Lakari used to continue onward. Orion lost track of the two of them as they escaped under the cover of the rain and darkness. They had left a formidable opponent for all four of them to face, even if not all of them had recognized it yet.
Rekka's sudden shout as she went down, made Orion turn about. Were they being attacked from behind?
Eyes resting on the headless figure, Orion's mouth was gasped. How was this possible? Was that... "Bartimaeus?" Orion asked out loud. He barley said the words when the bard stepped towards Aiden and attempted to swing at him with the shovel.
Just what was going on? Orion, unable to wield his sword, tried to shout over the rain. "Aiden, look out!" Rekka and Orion might have been to surprised to block such an attack, but perhaps Aiden, with his quick reflexes might not be.
-------------
The downpour of rain was a welcome reprieve for the fires that ate the earth. Up in the mountains, the downpour did not reach where Amber sat. But she could see the rain as it fought against some of the fires. That did not help things though. It helped the armies, making the enemy harder to spot and all others easier to kill.
"I hope you are alright guys." Amber prayed out loud. She didn't know how Rekka or the other three boys fared. While she hadn't known the guys, she still wished for their good health. They were friends of the bard and had helped her and Rekka as well. According to Rekka the dark haired one had rescued her.
She wished she could be down there. She wanted so bad to be in the battle. "I'm a solder god damn it! I should be down there helping them!" It was so frustrating to sit around and watch. Sighing Amber waited.

Rekka couldn't get up at first. After a smack like that, she was really seeing stars. Her head spun and the pouring rain didn't make things any easier for her. As her head swam, she tried to look up. Squinting through the rain with her only eye, Rekka caught a glimpse of Bartimaeus's headless body. It was now aiming for a strike for their youngest member of their group, Aiden. It was Orion who reacted quick enough to forewarn the young teenager about the oncoming attack.
Aiden, hearing Orion and now seeing the attack coming his way, moved just narrowly out of the way. "Whoa!" had been all what he had been able to utter before dodging a number of attacks around him. Where the rain was an obstacle right now on both sides, both sides will soon realize that the water in the area was not just really drenching all around them but the puddles were getting higher and the water level appeared as though it were flooding. Of course, no one would immediately know this until things got worse.
Eventually, Rekka pushed herself up off the ground with a shake of her head. She couldn't fight much longer like this, dazed and dizzy. She heard a shout nearby and looked up. Her eye widened when she saw a sword coming right for her. Staggering backward, Rekka avoided getting killed but she got cut from the arm to the leg. It was a flesh wound but it hurt pretty bad.
In the meantime, Damien was occupied with Ivan. The two clashed left and right. As they fought, the water level just kept rising and rising. It wasn't until the water was at knee level when both took pause to examine their surroundings. Why was the water getting so high? Land of Dragons hadn't been known for flash flooding or anything of the sort. Damien didn't even realize he had triggered the Monsoon ability that he had. It wasn't until the rain got harder and the water started to rise even more that something was really wrong.
"Shit, I need to get to the others!" Damien said to himself, not caring if Ivan could even hear him through all of the hammering rain. Damien knew that Ivan wasn't just going to let him go either. Damien needed to think of something that would keep Ivan occupied but what? Thinking fast, Damien tore open a portal below Ivan's feet. Even if Ivan could tear open pathways, his means of transport weren't like Damien's. Ivan, not expecting this, fell through the open portal and Damien caused a chain reaction with the portals. Once Ivan passed through one, he'd pass through another and then another and another. Needless to say, it would keep Ivan busy until he could right himself enough to tear a pathway open.
Now that Ivan was being taken care of, Damien ran as best he could through the ever rising water. As he did so, the sound of something rushing their way came. Damien wasn't sure why but it sounded like a lot of water rushing toward their area! Damien glanced over his shoulder and his eyes widened. It wasn't a tidal wave coming their way but a massive rush of water as if a sudden river had arrived on the scene!
Damien ran through the knee deep water as he tried to find Orion, Aiden and Rekka in the chaos. "Aiden! Orion!" Damien called out. As he neared where they were, he had to come to a surprised halt. The dead bard that was known as Bartimaeus was somehow moving again. Where his head wasn't attached to his body, he was wielding a shovel and using it to swing at the others. Just what was going on? No matter, they didn't have time to stick around and think about it. Damien had to get them out of here and fast!
Rushing over to Orion, Damien tore open a portal just near him. "Orion! Get in the portal now!" With that, he grabbed hold of Rekka pulling her to her feet and forced her through the portal before looking to find Aiden, dodging Bartimaeus's swings. Kane intercepted a strike and Damien grabbed Aiden by the collar of his shirt and threw him through the portal before yelling at Kane to get in. Turning on his heel, Damien scurried into the portal as well. Kane just narrowly entered the portal before the water reached where they would have been. They would all arrive in the area where Amber was.
(OOC: I hope this is fine, if not, message me and I can change it.)
