Tori shook her head with a sigh, but not with disappointment. It was refreshing, in a sense, seeing Henoke getting worked up just because she had worried about him, to then immediately jump back with even more eagerness than before. Him and Yuto both, although Tori could understand the reason behind it.
Henoke’s energy was far too contagious.
"You're gonna have to earn it.” Tori nodded along Yuto’s words. She also didn’t want to make it easy on Henoke —he’d asked for it. Throwing the ball back up to the air, Tori softly spiked it towards Henoke, marking an easy start.
Even though the start was an easy one, she could easily pick up the pace later on.
“You’ll have to work for it, then, Henoke” she mentioned, looking at the ball flying through the air, “’Cause neither Yuto or I will make it easy on you!”
The day was going by, from midday to early in the afternoon. While still not lighted orange, the sun was slowly but surely setting down. Mei and Neku hadn’t returned yet, although no one could bother —they would be fine, after all, not getting themselves in unnecessary trouble.
Tori was having way too much fun, although no one could blame her, right? After all, it had been a while since she could last relax with friends that way. A nice change of pace.

”You’re gonna have to earn it.” Yuto’s jab flared Henoke’s competitive side, widening the teen’s grin as he nodded in kind. ”You’re on!” Tori seemed to be in similar spirits, only continuing to flare up his already burning energy. As the soft spike came his way, Henoke found himself laughing and shouting out with his friends as the game continued throughout midday into afternoon. Over the course of the game, the devious duo had come close to taking the win from Henoke—but the teen had preserved, gritting through the early hardships and securing the win in the end through his sheer determination and reliance on his physical capabilities.
”BOOYAH!” Cheering as he secured his final point, Henoke pumped a fist into the air as he splashed around for a moment in victory. ”Never endin’ pork bowls, here we come!” Flushed from the exercise, Henoke wore a grin that shone as bright as the sun—positively beaming from the game they had lost so much time to. Resting his hands behind his head, the teen rocked back and forth as he stood in the thigh-high water. ”Hehe—that was a close one! I thought you guys had me for a second!” His fumbling around in the beginning hadn’t made it easy—but thankfully once he had found his footing (quite literally, too, thanks to a large yet mostly buried rock at the sea floor), the match had turned to his favor.
Despite the energy he had spent jumping and running around during the game, Henoke felt invigorated. Glancing over at the lowered sun, causing the sky to betray the faintest hint of the coming gold, the teen found himself immersed in the calming sensation of the ocean breeze and the sounds of distant birds. This is the best! He’d have to make sure to have more days like today. Waiting for Tori and Yuto to collect the ball, Henoke would revel in his good mood as he stood between them with a grin before making their way back towards the shore.
”So, what’d’ya think, Tori? Yuto and I are naturals, ain’t we?!” A somewhat cocky grin was on his face as he glanced between them. Truthfully, it was most likely just the fact that both Tori and Neku were so good and that Yuto and him had just been able to learn from the best, so to speak. Giving Yuto a smile and a 'thumbs up', Henoke chuckled a bit. "We'll have to try and face her and Neku as a team, Yuto!" Now that sounded challenging for sure. The two locals against the two noobs. Though it was clear that he was joking, Henoke realized he felt up for that competition. He'd keep that aspect to himself for now, considering how much time they had already killed playing that game.
[[OOC: If anyone reads this that isn't those of us participating, I promise I didn't just cheat and decide to make him win. I won the coin toss fair and square! ]]

As the game continued throughout the day, and eventually to afternoon, the three of them gave it there all. Points were scored, falls had happened, the occasionally missed ball, all things that made the game both competitive and entertaining. When the game ended Henoke stood the victor, having scored the most points. "Tch, man. I wanted to get you better at swimming." Yuto shrugged, not letting the loss faze him. "Ah well, always next time, right?"
”Never endin’ pork bowls, here we come! Hehe—that was a close one! I thought you guys had me for a second!” The man smiled at Henoke's demeanor. Atleast he was happy, and the three of them had a good time. "Not for a lack a' trying." Part of him was glad Henoke won, he did feel a bit bad about trying to make his friend swim. Even if the event did seem amusing in theory. ”So, what’d’ya think, Tori? Yuto and I are naturals, ain’t we?!” Tori was the most experienced of the three of them; if anyone was able to critique the guys it was her.
Yuto picked up the ball and headed for the shore, Letting out a soft chuckle at Henoke's idea of the two of them facing Tori and Neku. "Sounds like a plan, but maybe later." The game was more strenuous for Yuto than he was letting on. Sure he was used to running and fighting, but this being a longer activity had drained a good amount of his stamina. Almost as if to accent how he currently felt, the man sat in the sand next to Henoke and let his body lay back in the sand with an audible POMF. He put an arm over his eyes to keep from being blinded by the sun. "So, what's next gang? I didn't see the dynamic duo on the walk back to shore, so we're basically unsupervised."

”BOOYAH!”
As the game was brought to an end, Tori smirked with some annoyance. Even though she wasn’t one to feel prideful about her skills, losing did sting a bit, especially since it was a 1 on 2 against Henoke’s favor. It stung a bit, although it wasn’t like Tori knew what she was getting herself into. As Henoke cheered in victory, already eager for his price, Tori shook her head with a shrug.
Even though it was a hard-fought battle, Tori felt like she could keep going, yet the game had taken quite some time, and honestly, a break was needed. Yuto sat down, his tiredness evident. Tori rummaged through Mei’s bag in order to find yet another muffin, biting into it as she sat down in her own towel as the sunlight began to turn golden.
“I didn't see the dynamic duo on the walk back to shore, so we're basically unsupervised." Tori rolled her eyes as she laughed, knowing full well what Yuto was referring to. Sure enough, Neku and Mei had left elsewhere, and although she wasn’t worried, it did make sense to somewhat ask about their whereabouts.
“Let them be —lovebirds need time for themselves” Tori said as she chewed on the muffin, waving her free hand nonchalantly, “They’ll be back eventually, anyways. And in any case, I think we deserve a break, don’t we?”
She picked up the small plastic container with the muffins, offering one to Yuto and Henoke. For the time being, taking a break was a rather appeasable approach. She had ignored Henoke’s mention of competition —Tori and Neku on one side, he and Yuto or another—, but all things considered, they had played long enough.
“I don’t think competing 2 on 2 is gonna be possible right now, although it’d be quite fun” she nodded, “And, well… I won’t deny it —I thought I’d have an easier time beating your ass, but you proved me pretty wrong” she added, teasing, “It was even favored to me and Yuto, which makes this loss the more shocking.”
Tori laughed a bit, half of the muffing already gone as she laid on her back while looking at the sky. Now she definitely wanted to swim, but along everyone else this time around —no more competitions, just pure fun. Almost perfectly timed, Mei returned to the shoreline, finding the three a bit after they had finished their game. Tori smiled her way, but didn’t sit back up as the girl approached them back.
“Did you already finish?” Mei asked, receiving a nod from Tori, to which she smiled, “Must’ve been fun, huh?” “Sure was” Tori grinned back, “Where’s Neku, by the way?” “He, umm…” Mei looked away, a bit red, “He got caught up with something… He shouldn’t take too long.” “Re~ally…?” Tori asked, teasing. “Y-Yeah! D-Don’t bother about it, okay?!”
Tori looked at her friend with a smug smile, teasing, yet not quite fiercely. Mei pouted as she looked away, her cheeks still red of embarrassment. At the very least it wasn’t Neku teasing her —Tori was much more lenient and less pressuring that the boy with brown, spiky hair.
“Hey, why don't we go for a swim once Neku comes back?” Tori suggested everyone, “No more competitions —just getting in and cooling down for a bit! Just to finish the day off before we need to go back.”

”Sounds like a plan, but maybe later.” Henoke grinned and gave a carefree laugh as Yuto collapsed on the sand—clearly tired from that game. Truthfully the teen’s body could also use some rest, even if their heart and mind didn’t register it. Henoke had never been one to pay attention to his limits or bodies needs, though. ”So, what’s next gang?” Yuto’s question brought a thoughtful look to Henoke’s face as he dug and searched for the water in their little rest spot. Shaded by the parasol and all their towels spread out, it really was a cozy set up. Hearing Tori’s comments about the ‘lovebirds’ brought a childish snicker out of the teen as he gulped down some water. Neku and Mei had been gone for a bit, now that he thought about it. He had forgotten during the match—though the game had stretched on for some time.
”And in any case, I think we deserve a break, don’t we?” Nodding in agreement, Henoke decided to take a seat on his own borrowed towel in the shade between Yuto and Tori. Waving off her offer for a muffin, as he didn’t much have a craving for anything sweet, the teen found his discarded white t-shirt and pulled it back on. ”I won’t deny it—I thought I’d have an easier time beating your ass, but you proved me pretty wrong.” Tori’s tease brought a wide and confidant smile to Henoke’s face as leaned back and propped himself up with a hand as he sprawled out. ”Hehe~” Seemingly feeling rather pleased with himself and a little puffed up, the teen rubbed a finger under his nose.
”Did you already finish?” Lazily titling his head back rather than turning, Henoke smiled as Mei returned, noticing her lack of Neku in tote. Tori seemed to notice as well. ”He got caught up with something…” Despite looking at her from an upside-down perspective, Henoke could tell there was more to the statement the girl was letting on—betrayed by her reddened face. Unwise in the realms of romance, the teen was left with a mild look of confusion before glancing over at Yuto and giving a shrug. ”Hey, why don’t we go for a swim once Neku come back?” Tori’s suggestion caused Henoke to pause as he returned to his sprawled demeanor. He didn’t want to deter anyone else from enjoying themselves, instead remaining silent with a minor huff of his cheeks as he laid down on his towel, resting his hands behind his head.
”Knock yourself out.” Waving a hand dismissively, Henoke closed his eyes, a faint smile returning to his face as he relaxed in the shade for a moment. They were at a beach, so he expected everyone to get excited and keep swimming later in the day. Having just played volley in the water though, Henoke felt refreshed enough, not being one to need much ‘water time’ in general.
[[Henoke fun fact: When Henoke was a young child, his mother and father used to play ‘rock-paper-scissors’ to see who’d have to bathe him. This was because of how much of a fight he’d put up when they tried to get him in the tub. ]]

”I won’t deny it—I thought I’d have an easier time beating your ass, but you proved me pretty wrong.” She had a point; Yuto had less experience than both of them, but it was still a two on one. Henoke's victory was impressive, to say the least. The man stood and brushed off all the sand that clung to him before going to retrieve his flannel.
”Did you already finish?” Mei's return caught him a bit off guard, making him jump slightly. Yuto finished putting on his top as Tori and Mei conversed, the tone of Mei's last statement hinting towards something that best stay behind closed doors. ”Hey, why don’t we go for a swim once Neku come back?” The man raised an eyebrow at the comment. "I mean, sure, if Neku's got the energy for it. Though, from what I've seen of the guy, he might."
Yuto frowned at Henoke's comment, though he understood why. "I mean, you could just float there. No movement needed." He hoped the idea would get his friend in the water while still keeping Henoke's pride intact. "What'd'ya think, Tori? Sounds like a solid idea to me."

Tori smirked with unease at how easily Henoke dismissed her idea —the only one who refused. She shook her head with a sigh, seeing just how stubborn he was when it came to swimming and the like. Was it really that unenjoyable, or was he just too prideful to admit he was bad at swimming? It’s not like it would’ve mattered, anyways, since Tori didn’t want to compete anymore —just have fun. She nodded along as Yuto spoke, mentioning that Henoke could just float, although the added bonus was that both of them wanted to see Henoke swim, even if horribly. Not to stain his pride, but to help him improve. Who wouldn’t?
While they discussed, Mei sat down on her own towel, looking at Henoke while he was laying over his own, tilting her head with curiosity. Given how little context she had, all she could think of was that Henoke simply didn’t know how to swim. Not that she was wrong, by any means, but she hadn’t heard of anything related to that topic.
“You don’t like swimming?” Mei asked, concerned and with a faint pout, “…Do you know how to swim?” “Tch —that’s tactless, Mei…” Tori commented, bursting in laughter. “Huh?”
Tori tried holding her laughter back, while Mei looked confused as her friend tried to hold back. After some time, Neku returned, finding the group laying by the shade. He smirked amused, placing one hand on his hip as he looked at everyone.
Once he showed up, Tori stood up, sharing her previous idea with him, thing Neku agreed with. The pair would try to get back into the sea alongside Yuto, leaving Mei and Henoke by the shore as they went back for one last swim. The soft-spoken girl looked at Henoke with curiosity, wondering just what it was that bothered him.
“Oi, you two!” Neku shouted, “C’mon and get in already!” “Coming!” Mei shouted back with a smile.
Neku grinned, although lasting shortly after Tori threw water at his back, indicating the start of a water war. While the pair of friends played by the waves, Mei sighed, giggling a bit before making her question.
“If you don’t want to go in… Then I’ll stay with you” she said, smiling, “Unless, well… You want us to teach you how to swim? It’s not that hard, really. And if you’re worried about Neku teasing you for it, don’t be —he’s met adults who don’t even know the basics” she finished, giggling.

"I mean, you could just float there.” Yuto had a point, which only brought a furrow to Henoke’s brow. Keeping his eyes closed, the teen had a stubborn look fixed on his face as he lay in mock relaxation. ”You don’t like swimming? …Do you know how to swim?” Mei’s comment caused his eyes to snap open in surprise—not having expected to be asked so directly so soon! As Tori burst into laughter, Henoke sat up with an indignant look on his reddening face. ”Tch—o’course I know how’ta swim!” It wasn’t a lie—since he could swim…just not well. Despite his athleticism, Henoke was not what anyone could confidently call a ‘strong’, ‘good’, or even ‘fast’ swimmer.
As Neku returned and everyone began making their way to the water, the teen gave a dejected sigh as he sat on his towel, his glare full of contempt as he watched the waves for a moment. ”Oi, you two! C’mon and get in already!” He hadn’t realized Mei had lingered back until just then, having been so wrapped up in his own misery. ”If you don’t want to go in…then I’ll stay with you.” Her smile only made it harder to look at her. Tch—don’t gimme that… Despite her convincing front, Henoke was sure Mei wanted to enjoy the water with everyone, too. The fact she’d be willing to hang out in the sand to keep him company despite that only irritated and depressed him a little—she was too nice for her own good, in his opinion.
”You want us to teach you how to swim? It’s not that hard, really.” Red creeped back into the teen’s huffed cheeks as he crossed his arm and turned his head away for a moment. ”I don’t need to be taught nothin’.” Grumbling a bit at the girl’s giggle, he realized his choices were limited. She didn’t seem the type to be waved off easily… If I don’t go in, it’ll just make it a bigger deal. That was the last thing he wanted—more attention drawn to it. ”Alright, alright!” Almost as though he were grumbling more to himself than Mei, Henoke clapped his hands to his cheeks as his golden eyes shone with determination. ”You could just float there.” Yuto’s words rang in his head as the teen got to his feet, pulling off his t-shirt once more with a faint grimace as he eyed the waves again.
For now, the ensuing water war was his perfect opportunity. Everyone was still simply running around and splashing—something he could do with ease! He sighed in relief a bit before turning back to Mei, fixing a smile on his face (it was only somewhat forced, too. He was really trying!). ”C’mon—I know you wanna have fun with everyone, too. Let’s go!” With that, Henoke turned and did what he did best—rushed headfirst into the problem he was faced with without giving it much more thought. Splash! Having run into the water (mostly to just get it over with, kind of like pulling off a band-aid), Henoke made his entrance into the water-fight with a surprisingly large wave pushed up with both of his arms, aimed for all three in the water already. ”You’ll regret draggin’ me out here!” He gave them all a cocky smirk as he laughed.
It was just like when they had played beach volley—a good compromise. Waist-high water meant he could still run around and not have to rely on swimming, while everyone else would still be able to refresh themselves. Once the water war would die down, Henoke would rely on Yuto’s approach, having recently been taught how to float on his back by Tori (a fact he was not going to share with anyone—not even on his death bed) at the Shore.

”You don’t like swimming? …Do you know how to swim?” Mei's comment caused Yuto to stifle a laugh. 'I'm gonna go before Henoke smacks me or something.' Taking off his flannel again, and placing it on the borrowed towel he was using, Yuto gave a two-fingered salute to the two before heading off to the water. "Well, whatever you guys decide, I'm going back in."
With that, the man opened a corridor underneath himself and sank into the ground. After a couple of seconds, the other end of the corridor opened roughly ten feet above the water at a point where he could safely dive. "GEEEEEEROOONIIIMMMOOOOOO!!!!" Yuto came through the portal, attempting to show off with a somersault type dive. Unfortunately, he misjudged how high up he was and got smacked in the face with a wave at the peak of its crest. The force of the impact flipped him over and made him land in the water square on his back with a wet SLAP. He floated on his back for a bit before making his way to Neku and Tori, who seemed to be in the middle of a water war. "Add those dives to list of bad ideas, check."
His back stung from the impact, but it seemed to be fading quickly. He was thankful for that, at the very least. ”You’ll regret draggin’ me out here!” The sound of Henoke's voice snapped him back to reality. The man looked over to see the teen rushing the three of them with his arms below the water, making a large wave. "We might wanna duck." The man did his best to hit the water before getting another face full.

Mei simply watched after having asked her piece, noticing Henoke’s redness when he answered —it was clear he was either not proud of his capabilities, or simply bothered by it. His sudden clap to his cheeks and further comment came as though a sudden wave crashed onto the girl, simply watching as Henoke ran head-first into the water. With a sigh, she smiled…
“You know you can just… Say it, right…?” she mentioned no one, although she would’ve liked it for Henoke to hear her.
In the end, though, he seemed willing enough to just get over with it, joining the water fight almost immediately. She stood up and headed to the sea, just to take part in the fun everyone else was having.
Neku and Tori both tried their best to cover themselves from Henoke’s water attack, both laughing at his dare. Yuto’s previous shenanigans had already put them in a laughing mood, and the game was now afoot. Having received the wave to the face, Neku was raring to go, running his way to tackle Henoke into the sea with little to no care. Tori saw his attempt as the boy pushed himself over the other, ending flat on the water regardless if Henoke dodged or not. All the while, Mei was waiting at the right time to join, her feet already entering the lukewarm sea water.
With a mischievous grin, Tori ran her way, catching Mei off-guard. Although the soft-spoke girl tried to get away, yet still keeping close to the sea, Tori didn’t let up, catching her wrist and pulling her towards the sea but without being rough —just fast. Both splashed! into the sea amongst laughter, and tossing water towards the three guys.
The game was officially going. Most likely until they had to leave. But there was some time before sunset would indicate a more treacherous time, so they had some time to spare and enjoy themselves by laughing with one another with splashes of salt water occasionally filling their mouth.

Henoke gave an impish grin as he watched his wave take effect. Laughing along with the others, the teen stood victorious only for a moment. ”Ack!” Quick to act, Neku rushed through the water, catching Henoke off-guard as the teen shouted out and laughed as the two were knocked over into the water. ”Grrrr, you punk!” Clearly in a good mood, Henoke threw the angry retort Neku’s way with a grin on his face, aiming to grip the boy into a headlock. Splash! The sudden wave caught Henoke by surprise, causing him to pause in his horseplay as he was splashed by Mei and Tori’s own fooling around.
Despite not being the biggest fan of swimming, the salty water itself was refreshing in the beach’s heat. Despite the day waning on, the sun still shone and brought a crispness to the water that was appreciated. Laughing with the others, Henoke would work to wrangle both Yuto and Neku up, though the fact he was instigating both boys would most likely end in his defeat. Heh, the beach is pretty awesome~ The teen wore a wide smile that might as well have acted as another sun, with how bright it shone. He enjoyed the friendly competition and light-hearted humors the group around him offered.
Time seemed to stand still as he played and horsed around—though in actuality it was flying by. Soon, Henoke would find the day passing them by. Until then, he’d continue expend too much energy and goof off with everyone.

Yuto emerged from the water to see everyone enjoying themselves. Neku and Henoke were being themselves and Tori bringing Mei over. Fun was in the air as he tried to cover himself from Tori's splash. The day continued on, the sun moving rapidly in the sky without anyone noticing. The gang had all wordlessly decided to have a full-on water war as the way to spend their time.
"Ya'know, we DO have a certain someone here in the water with us." The man playfully put his arm around Henoke, partially to make sure the teen couldn't get away. "And I'm almost positive he hasn't gotten the full experience of the ocean." Yuto was purely poking fun, but it would be a lie to say that he wasn't curious to see how far he could take this. "I say, we take him out and see who can swim the farthest. I know Neku's always down for a competition. Tori? Mei? What about you guys?"

"Ya'know, we DO have a certain someone here in the water with us."
Yuto’s words was on point —with all the fun they had, the group had almost forgotten that Henoke had gone willingly into the water. Neku laughed back as the orange-haired boy tried to lock him down in the already started horseplay, finding it amusing how close the two had gotten despite the teasing that happened. Yet even with that, Neku wasn’t mean —he just wanted to have fun.
“While I’d like that, I’m cool with this kinda play!” he replied, “It’s fine if he doesn’t wanna go all in!” “Huh, so he did catch on…”
Tori glanced over towards Neku as he was locked into one of Henoke’s assault alongside Yuto, unable to admit her surprise at Neku’s words. It wasn’t like him to just admit things like that for another’s sake, but it went to show how he felt with Henoke and Yuto around.
Even though just a few seconds ago he was quite jealous of Henoke spending time with Mei… Things went rather quickly through his head, allowing him to bounce back with even more energy than before.
Besides, who wouldn’t want a fun time with no competition? He could always issue another challenge later on. With everyone so keen into their water struggle, they would most likely be unable to see how time passed, and before long, the sun was already setting. Tori was the first to notice the sun slowly dipping down into the sea, indicating the soon-to-arrive night. The other two were quick to notice, calling it quits before they would be dragged even further into the play.
It wasn’t safe past sunset to be in the area, even if the Eastern Shore was the second safest area.
“Should we get going?” Mei asked, brushing herself from the game. “Yeah —before we stay here longer than necessary” Tori replied with a chuckle. “’Kay, lemme help out this time!”
Neku rushed his way through the water, shaking his hair to dry it off as he helped the rest pack their stuff. He noticed Mei and Henoke’s charms with an uneasy smile, but chuckled afterwards. Tori noticed them as well, curious for a bit while she tilted her head, although Mei quickly rushed in to pick them up and safe them in her bag.
She’d make sure to finish them for the day after.
Neku put his shirt on before grabbing onto his own bag, waiting for the rest before he’d make his way back into town. Just like Tori and Mei, he felt refreshed and rather cheerful after the events of the day, knowing that, despite the trouble that came with it every now and then, it had been fun.
It was nice, hanging out with new and old friends altogether.
“Hey, you two” Neku glanced over at Henoke and Yuto, “Ya wanna join me for a night’s out? I agreed with Vaan and Luneth to go out for fun, but… Maybe you’d like to tag along?” “Why not me or Mei?” Tori asked, teasing, “We’re allowed too, right?” “About that…” Neku grinned, looking away rather sheepishly, “It’s a guy’s night out, Tori —no girls allowed.” “Oh, yeah, right…” “I’m serious! That’s what we agreed on —Luneth, Vaan and I are gonna be meetin’ with a few seniors from other Guilds. Guys only!” “Tch…”

”I’m almost positive he hasn’t gotten the full experience of the ocean.” Yuto’s mischievous jab would cause Henoke to stagger before giving the guy a good humored scowl. Inwardly relieved as Neku declined, Henoke took the opportunity to rush at Yuto, aiming to dunk him under the water. ”I’ll give you the full experience, ya jerk!” Despite himself he was laughing, finding himself enjoying the good nature of it all. As Neku and Yuto continued to horse around with him, all three grappling and splashing at each other, it seemed like no time had passed at all before all of a sudden the sky grew darker and a cooler breeze began to remind them all of the coming evening. ”Should we get going?” Breaking free from the game, Henoke blinked before he shivered a bit—finding himself less warm now that he was wet and there was less sunlight.
While everyone rushed out of the water, the teen paused at the shoreline, shaking his spiky hair with vigor before glancing back at the waves behind him. Heh—that wasn’t so bad… Walking back to the lounge area, the teen would use his towel to try himself off a bit before throwing back on his t-shirt, helping in packing up the supplies of their day. Despite the business of the day, Henoke felt wide awake and full of energy. Following the others as they left the beach and headed back into town, he wore a wide grin as they walked, resting his hands behind his head as he found himself relishing in the company around him. ”Hey, you two. Ya wanna join me for a night out?” Neku’s proposal caused Henoke to scrunch up his face for a moment as he recalled. Oh, yeah! They had met Vaan, earlier! Luneth must be another friend o' his...
”Why not me or Mei?” Now that she mentioned it, Henoke hadn’t noticed that Tori and Mei had been left out of the invitation. Truthfully, he had just assumed the three of them had all made plans and were extending the invitation to him and Yuto. It seemed that wasn’t the case, though. ”It’s a guys night out, Tori—no girls allowed.” Hearing how they intended to meet up with senior members of the Guild caught Henoke’s attention, a spark of curiosity and excitement showing on his face. It’d be the perfect opportunity to hear about some of the monsters on this world, something he had been energetic about since his arrival. He wasn't sure why there had to be the exclusion of the girls, though. Weren't there girl members of the guild?
Hm… He glanced over at Tori and Mei for a moment, a faint frown forming as he contemplated. Is it alright to just ditch them? The beach had shown him how fun it was when everyone was together. Truthfully, Henoke had never had a ‘guys night out’ before though, either. Come to think of it… On his home world his only friend had been Shiki…all of the boys had just hated him or picked fights. He had had a couple of guy friends once he met his Master and Chirithy…but that hadn’t really ended well, according to his memories. For the first time, Henoke realized he actually spent most of his time around girl friends, oftentimes butting heads with most of the guys he met besides Yuto and Neku. ”Guess it could be a good change o’ pace.” Shrugging a bit as he kept his hands behind his head, Henoke finally gave Neku a nod and a grin to his proposal.
”Sure! How ‘bout it, Yuto?” Glancing over at his friend, Henoke hoped Yuto would be down. Truthfully, he was a little nervous, since this was his first time ‘with the guys’ that wouldn’t involve a fight. It'd be nice to have a more familiar person there with him, though he'd never admit it aloud. ”Don’t worry, Tori, I’ll tell ya all about it after!” Giving his friend a reassuring grin, Henoke had noticed her attitude towards the idea of being left out. He felt a little bad, but at the same time felt like it was important for himself to branch out. ”Why don’t you two just do a ‘girls night’?” Might as well, if they were being left out anyway, right?
Truthfully though, Henoke had no idea what people did during ‘guys nights’ and ‘girls nights’—he typically did the same kind of stuff with his guy and girl friends, so he didn’t really understand the significance of it all. Shrugging it off, the teen decided to not bother wracking his brain about concepts he wouldn’t understand and just enjoy the ride.

Yuto laughed as Henoke dunked him, glad that everyone was in good spirits. A day at the beach seemed to be just the thing everyone needed, time to just chill and enjoy themselves. The day wound down to twilight, signaling the end of the group's beach adventure. The trio seemed eager to pack their things. He shrugged and decided to do his part, seeing how it was only fair since Tori and the gang were kind enough to make sure he and Henoke were accommodated for the day's events.
'Today was a good day, can't deny that.' He shook the towel he was using free of sand before draping it over his shoulders. ”Hey, you two. Ya wanna join me for a night out?” Neku's offer was a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Yuto picked up his flannel and thought for a moment while Neku explained that he had promised some other friends a "guys night". It had been a long while since Yuto had one of those.
Henoke seemed to be all for the idea, and the man couldn't blame him. "I'd love to. Yuto smiled warmly. "Besides, it might be a good idea to get to know who else lives around here." The more people he met, the more he could learn. Though, knowing what he was like, Yuto would probably cause some level of trouble with his shenanigans.
A stray breeze reminded him that he was still soaked from the gang's day out. "Uh..If it's alright with y'all, I'm gonna get changed beforehand." Not that he minded being in a bathing suit, but he wanted to wash the salt and sand out of his hair at the very least. "Meet up at the shacks in a bit?" Regardless if the other guys agreed, Yuto and Henoke would need to know where they were going and how to get there, and they needed Neku for that.

Neku grinned with confidence, hearing how both Henoke and Yuto were up to joining. While the two girls were left out due to it being a “guys only event”, instead thinking on what the two of them could do, Neku noticed Yuto asking if they could meet later at the Shacks, chuckling a bit.
“I was gonna do that, anyways” Neku nodded, “Dry and change before meeting with those two by the Plaza. Otherwise, you’re asking to catch a cold!” “So, we split here, then?” Tori asked, receiving a nod from the teen, “Then… You guys have fun —Mei and I’ll go on ahead!” “I’ll be finishing the charms for tomorrow, okay?” Mei told Henoke, “So, expect to get them when we meet!”
Tori and Mei both waved goodbyes, heading on to the latter’s place as they parted ways with the trio of guys. With dusk upon them, it would only be a matter of minutes before the town was enveloped in the night’s sky —and with that, different activities and ambiance to enjoy. Neku turned towards the two, wanting to recap what the plan was.
“So… You guys know your way back to the Shacks, right?” Neku asked, “I’ll also go get dressed and stuff, so let’s meet by the Plaza, ok? Y’know, that circular part of town with the fountain at the center… And also where the Stables are at. Vaan, Luneth and I agreed to meeting there.”

Hearing Yuto agree to come, Henoke’s grin broadened as he reached out and gave his friend a light smack on the back. ”That’s the spirit!” Just then, a breeze passed by that brought a shiver through the teen, reminding him he was only in shorts and a t-shirt though night was beginning to settle in. Nodding in agreement at Neku and Yuto’s plan to change first, Henoke felt his excitement climbing as he began to wonder about what they’d be up to tonight. ”So, we’ll split here, then?” Still feeling a little bad about ditching the two of them, Henoke scratched at the back of his head for a moment before shaking the guilt off. ”I’ll be finishing the charms for tomorrow, okay?” Knowing less shells would be broken with the girl’s skill, the teen gave a faint sigh of relief as he smiled at her. ”Thanks, Mei. I owe ya one.”
Waving goodbye as the girls set off, Henoke turned back to Neku and Yuto, giving a ‘thumbs up’ as the mercenary went over the plan. ”Yeah—we shouldn’t get lost. See ya then!” Grinning and moving his feet with excitement, Henoke would grab at Yuto and begin pulling him at a fast pace as he waved good-bye to Neku, heading in the direction of the Shacks. ”C’mon, Yuto!” Forgetting the man could simply portal himself to the Shacks, the teen seemed eager to get to the night’s activities, pulling his friend through the darkening streets as he ran past those enjoying themselves already.
”Argh! That took longer than I thought!” He had washed off the beach’s salt water after returning to the Shack, but had found it to require more scrubbing than he had thought. Tch—stupid ocean! Despite enjoying himself at the beach during the day, the teen wasn’t able to help but curse it as he reached into the wardrobe to grab his blue jacket and accessories. Dressed back in his usual attire, rather than the swimsuit Neku had given him, Henoke was finally ready to go! ”Let’s go, Yuto!” Acting as though he wasn’t the one holding things up, the teen wore a broad smirk as he headed for the door. ”Er—“
Pausing with his hand on the handle, Henoke turned, giving Yuto a surprisingly ‘straight-faced’ look. ”You know the way, right?” It seemed despite his earlier fronting to Neku, the teen had not paid much attention during their walks through the city—having been so distracted by all of the newness from it all.

”So, we’ll split here, then?” Yuto nodded in confirmation. "No biggie. I'll keep these two out of trouble." a sly smile gracing his lips as everyone agreed to their own sets of the night's plans. He used the towel in a failed attempt to dry his hair as Henoke barely kept his excitement in check.
”C’mon, Yuto!” The man didn't have time to react as the hyper-active teen dragged him into town. "You know I can warp us there, right?" His comment seeming to fall on deaf ears as the two made their way through the town and back to where they were staying.
”Argh! That took longer than I thought!” Yuto laughed as he got out of the shower, having brought his normal outfit in with him. "Just be happy you're hair's short. Mine takes forever to get stuff out of." Having dried off, changed, and made triply sure that his hair was sand-free, Yuto walked back into the bedroom. ”You know the way, right?” He took note of Henoke's concern of getting to the rendevous on time. He pinched the bridge of his nose as he shook his head. "I'm pretty sure it's the area with the fountain." He jabbed a thumb over his shoulder as a corridor sprung into existence. "C'mon, this will be easier than us getting lost trying to find our way around."
Walking through the Dark Corridor with the teen and emerging in front of the large fountain in town, Yuto looked around for Neku. He decided to sit on the rim of the structure, knowing that his entrance would stand out despite how busy the village was at all hours. "If luck holds, we're in the right place and we should be a bit early." He looked over to Henoke, who should have followed him through the portal. "That's the hope, anyway."

Neku waved as Yuto and Henoke, trusting on their own guidance. Even though he had a feeling Henoke was lying through his teeth when he mentioned “not getting lost”, only thinking on what exactly he had placed attention on.
Directions were key, really, yet Henoke didn’t seem very interested in them.
“Well… To each their own…” he told himself as he headed back to his own place to change and get ready.
The Plaza by night-time was completely different to the one by day-time —small lights hanging by the buildings illuminated the circular area in a similar way to how stars lit the sky. A few lampposts here and there to increase the brightness and make sure no one was completely in the dark —a cheerful yet different ambiance.
Yuto’s Corridor did startle a few people here and there, yet no one really confronted him. In a sense, they lucked out, given how busy the time was despite it being night-time, as all sorts of different activities were now open to the public.
It would take a while before Neku arrived, following by a somewhat smaller teen with silver hair and purplish-blue eyes. They seemed to be bickering as they made their way towards the fountain, Neku waving in greeting as he noticed Yuto and Henoke. The silver-haired teen also perked up, wondering just who it was that Neku had invited.
“Yo!” Neku greeted as they were all grouped up near the fountain, “Seems like I didn’t have to worry and go pick you up by the Shacks…” he teased. “Huh… So these are the two people you were hanging with today?”
Neku nodded at the silver-haired teen. He looked relatively young —perhaps not older than 14—, with his semi-long hair tied on the back in a small ponytail. His outfit consisted of a turtle-neck purple shirt underneath a black hoodie, over which he wore a leather vest that reached mid-torso, held by a leather belt. The teen’s lower outfit were simple white pants and dark-purple boots, with two fenny packs by the back held with belts. Hanging by the fenny packs’ outside were a pair of combat knifes —one short and another considerably longer.
“Nice to meet you, then!” the teen cheered, “Name’s Luneth!” “We’ll be waitin’ on Vaan for a bit” Neku said, “Since we agreed on groupin’ here, then… We shouldn’t have much issue.” “You should’ve known as much, given how much he’s getting dragged around by Ashe and Penelo” Luneth chuckled, “He hasn’t been slacking off, but it’s usually just his attitude that ticks the two of them off…” “We don't need to know that, y’know…”

Blinking in surprise as Yuto’s corridor appeared, Henoke chuckled sheepishly as he scratched at the back of his head. ”C’mon, this will be easier than us getting lost trying to find our way around.” Truthfully the teen had forgotten in his haste about his friends rather convenient ability. With a nod, Henoke walked after Yuto, his eyes lingering on the darkness he was about to be enveloped by.
Emerging back under the night sky, Henoke blinked in open surprise as he and Yuto emerged at the fountain in the Plaza. So fast! It felt like he had literally only walked like three steps. It had been pitch black for a minute, though the light from the other side had guided him. ”If luck holds, we’re in the right place and we should be a bit early.” Sighing in relief, the teen gave Yuto a grin and shook his head. ”Man, that was cool!” He was a little envious—having no tricks like that of his own. Not that he showed it, of course. Glancing around with eager eyes, the teen was surprised to see how lively the town still was. It caused an electric jolt of energy to spark through him as he bristled and grinned. While his friend took a seat on the fountain, Henoke himself hopped up and stood on the ledge, looking around at the town sprawled out before him.
”Hehe~” Hard to contain, his excitement kept growing as he watched the passerby’s and heard the night-time festivities echo around him. ”Yo!” A familiar voice caused Henoke to hop down from the fountain with a grin as he waved and greeted Neku and the other boy with him. ”Huh…so these are the two people you were hanging with today?” The boy with silver hair seemed younger than Henoke and Yuto, and much smaller. ”Nice to meet you, then! Name’s Luneth!” Giving Luneth a friendly smile, Henoke nodded held up a thumb. ”I’m Henoke, and that’s Yuto!” Gesturing to his friend, the teen rested his hands behind his head before glancing around to see if Vaan was nearby. ”We’ll be waitin’ on Vaan for a bit.” Neku’s comment caused the teen to deflate a bit, groaning as a lament to having rushed to get there on time.
”He hasn’t been slacking off, but it’s usually just his attitude that ticks the two of them off…” Henoke smirked at the comment, understanding that kind of dynamic. He and Shiki had been similar—though typically she had been the one ticking him off. Putting his hands in his jacket pockets and giving a mild shrug, the teen had a pleasant grin on his face despite the hold up. ”Ah well, not much we can do about it, then.” Glancing around, he couldn’t help but keep his excitement—it had been a long time since he had just gotten to explore a world for fun. Typically there were always Heartless in the way. ”So—where’re we gonna go?” Not knowing much about what the town had to offer other than the few places he had seen so far, the teen figured if they couldn't get moving right away, he could at least get an idea of what the plan was while they waited.
Unlike the beach, there’d be nothing Henoke wasn’t game for when it came to this evening.
