--note: closed thread to non Final Fantasy 7 characters--
The Turk sat on the edge of a building, not really knowing what to do. The afternoon light bounced of his feet and left hand, the gold color of the metal glittering almost happily except for his slightly brooding face that indicated he was deep in his thoughts. Unruly dark hair fluttered about, his bangs hanging into his intoxicating dark scarlet eyes. He was the epitaph of loneliness, yet didn't look troubled. Expressionless was one way to put it. He didn't know what to expect yet, of this place, knowing that this was definitely different from his home planet of Gaia. He kind of missed it now, but said nothing. Yet more, he missed the love of his life, still locked up in that Mako crystal. He couldn't visit her here, in this different dimension. Hell, he didn't know how he got here either. And he felt Chaos again, though he thought it was gone. It may have been the change of worlds that triggered it, as well as sometimes awaking to his former body... It was troublesome, but not cumbersome.
Vincent looked up into the sky, leaning back on one arm while one was wrapped around one of his propped up legs and the other still danging off the building. What was this place? What were these monsters, whose bodies shattered into nothingness after death? Heartless, Nobodies, someone said to him. At least DeepGround soldiers seemed more normal, human as they stayed where they died. It was unnerving, in a way, but he wouldn't let that get to him. Keyblades, he heard, were the choice weapon of this place, fashionable and useful, while those that had them had proof of a Light Heart and power as well. Personally, giant keys were probably not going to cut it for him. Looking down at Cerberus, sitting obediently in its holster at his right hip, he questioned the Keyblades and their uses. They didn't look sharp.
His tattered cloak fluttering softly in a breeze, he took a deep breath of the air. He didn't know anyone around here.
Or did he?

((LOL, Choco, you're VERY late! I'm okay with that though!))
Startled from his reverie, Vincent did not show it as he patiently looked down the edge of the building to the source of the noise and- OMG. The LAST person on earth he'd expect to see, though he DID want to see someone he knew from Gaia. Why her? Why not someone a little more... sober? He was tempted to ignore her, but it was almost not in his nature to do so.
He said nothing, though raised his right hand in mildly surprised greeting. Vincent didn't feel like going down there. Besides, the girl had so much energy, she'd scramble up the building in no time, right? Hopefully. He wasn't going to yell down the side of the edifice just for conversation. The former Turk shifted his position to indicate that Yuffie should sit nearby. There was plenty of space on the roof, hm?
Dear Jenova. Yuffie of all people.

((NO YUFFENTINE!!! omg! No, Lucrecia is his #1!!! lol =P ))
"Mmm," he said nonchalantly as he observed her. As Yuffie as ever, he could say as she took her seat. Vincent was inwardly relieved. So he wasn't the only one that was launched from their normal world into another one and completely lost and disorient-
Wait a second.
Yuffie said "Traverse Town". And he didn't even know where he was. Maybe the time-space continuum had worked differently for them, or maybe this Yuffie wasn't really real. Vincent would agree that she was way ahead in information. Fitting for the Wutai ninja, another one to collect information while staying completely and happily hidden in her own caffienated way.
"Traverse Town?" he asked, a little distant. "Where... why... are we here? What happened to Gaia?" Vincent voiced his questions while remaining true to himself and not being to emotional. Why indeed...

Vincent gave a couple of blinks, allowing the information from Yuffie to pass over his head cleanly without noting anything. The hyper friend of his really didn't give him much substance to really find out what this place was all about. Maybe he'd find out later. And if she knew if anyone else was here.
"...Is anyone else here?" Vincent asked, mentally listing everyone he could think of. Tifa, Cloud, Cid, Barret, "Cait Sith"... maybe even Sephiroth or Aerith. Lucrecia, he knew, would still be locked within the Mako Crystal, never to venture out.
A whisper of movement caught his eye and he quickly turned his head, hair flying out. Odd. He didn't see anyone. Though he felt it, more like. Without an explanation, and being suspicious and thoughtful, Vincent drew Cerberus slowly and aimed at whatever spot he thought the person was at. Trained it for any movement. He didn't like spies. Then he blinked a couple of times and put the gun back. It didn't feel malignant. Maybe it was someone that he'd met before...
He ignored his talkative ninja friend and tilted his head in speculation.

Cid! Thank OMEGA that there was at least one other sane person around besides the talkative beast beside him! Vincent raised a hand in greeting and followed Yuffie's lead with beckoning his pilot friend up to their seats on the roof. Where was Gaia? Even with his ties to Chaos, the Turk couldn't feel it in this dimension. He sadly shook his head in reply, not sure if Cid would see him from up where he was. He didn't know where anyone else was either.
Cloud with his abnormally spikey hair. Barret with his powerful gunning arm. Tifa clad in black. Cait Sith/Reeve in their indigo coats. Maybe ShinRa may be here. A shudder went through his back. DeepGround or the Tsviets? Sephiroth? Shalua? Aerith? Lucrecia?! Impossible, his mind screamed back to him. Impossible. Though, often times Vincent had heard it is likely that other dimensions had copies of the original people. Maybe others were here. Cloud would be... something happy if he saw Aerith again. Not that Tifa may be too joyful with that. Inwardly, he smiled. Lucrecia was safe in the crystal, the waterfall cave. Nothing to worry about.
He made to stand as he watched Cid.

Vincent nodded in what could be considered a pleased greeting for the emo-man. Not that anyone could see his expression anyway due to that giant floppy red collar covering half of his face. His hair still as ruffled as ever, the man blinked a couple of times before looking past Cid to the rest of the twilight-kissed town, unsure of how to answer. How did he get here indeed?
"...I don't know," he said, his voice neutral but sadly deep as well. "Must have fallen asleep in Lucrecia's Cave. Woke up here, near that mansion." He raised one pointy golden finger to the said edifice in the distance. "I thought I was the only one here at first and haven't been here long. Are there any others besides us?" His query was thoughtful as he looked at his black-clad arm. "...And Chaos is back. I can feel it in my body again, as well as my old appearance before Chaos. If Chaos is here, I suspect possibly others that are long-dead may be too. Sephiroth or Aerith, maybe. Not Lucrecia, though, I'm certain she's gone." His red eyes glanced up again.
"...Luckily, I haven't had any Chaos breakouts. Haven't seen any other remains of old enemies either. DeepGround. The Tsviets. Kadaj and his gang..."

As for Vincent, he'd began ignoring her a long while ago.
"Mmm," was his agreement to Cid. Wait a sec - Aerith was alive, and had no recollection whatsoever of Gaia? Odd. She seemed like a nice enough lady when he'd known her there. Inwardly, Vincent grimaced. How strange would it be to meet someone who you knew that was long-dead, to find out they probably either a) didn't remember you/don't know you or b) acted like they've been alive all along? Cloud... if he was here... would be elated to see her again. Or not, seeing as he had Tifa and managed to forgive himself for the other female's death. Vincent wouldn't know, having only loved one other person - who was also supposed to be dead.
"If Aerith is here... it increases the chance that there are more than just the four of us," Vincent said in speculation. "Along with the chance that there's been a revival of other enemies. But this is an entirely new place to me.
"Cid, what is this place? Odd monsters I've never seen and I thought Bahamut was disgusting. Shot one the other day and it shattered into odd dark fragments when I killed it. No remaining body. And what's a Keyblade supposed to do?"

Vincent heard through the explanations, then blinked.
"...Sora?" he said, obviously not recalling anyone by that name. "Rumors of him, but not the guy himself. Managed to overhear several conversations. Got a couple of those oversized things waved in my face. I wouldn't rely on those though..." The man eyed Cerberus at his hip instead. Gunslinging guy he was, (and quite sexy by some standards, though he wouldn't know), he would never use one of those giant keys. Didn't seem very sharp either.
Vincent stared off after that at a few of those big black blobs Cid pointed out. Heartless, hm? They kill people for their hearts and do... something... to them. As if they wanted hearts themselves, maybe. To the former Turk, it didn't seem likely they would collect these to fuel another source, like those innocent souls for Omega. It was being slowly pieced together, and the man soaked it up like a sponge that was too dry for too long. A little irked by his inconvenient no-information-had state, Vincent clenched his left hand into a fist before relaxing again.
"Who... is Sora?"

He contemplated Cid's words again before drawing Cerberus. A clean aim. Thank whatever people thank that this was less messy than it could be. Vincent had seen worse. Like that damned Omega with its cocoon and the other whatchamacallit. Glad for having what some would call "trigger fingers", capable of firing at inhuman speeds, the Turk shot his three-barrelled gun silently at the blobby Heartless below. Deprived of a meal and their life, the visible ones shattered slowly into nothingness. Disgusting. Vincent doubted he'd ever get over that method of dying.
"Can I... meet this 'Sora'?" he asked carefully past his oversized collar, red eyes still focused for more targets in the street, but arm relaxed. It was like him to be able to shoot a gun and continue conversation. "If he's what you say he is, it may be a good idea to meet him or anyone else knowledgable. Like Aerith..." A frown crossed his face briefly before smoothing itself out. Aerith. Had no clue whatsoever that she had friggin died. And now she's alive and hale and all of that, completely innocent to what had gone on at Gaia? Well, she better remember Vincent or else the man would be quite confused. As if he wasn't already...

Vincent couldn't help himself and gave a snort-like noise accompanied by a smirk. Saving the world indeed... Bah. He never knew about what the heck happened to his body, and look what happened with Chaos! Saving the world. Psh. It could be a friggin' hobby at this rate. Except that the whole AVALANCHE team wasn't here, or so he thought.
A bob of the unruly black hair indicated a nod. He could wait. Or he could go find the guy, not that it would be easy. Better to sit back and hang around, right? Sora. This guy was certainly someone on his "to-meet" list. Along with Aerith. Dang, she would be quite the problem since she was supposed to be dead. Maybe there was always a copy of the same person in other dimensions... Vincent clamped down a shudder. Naw, couldn't happen now.
He blinked a couple of times as he watched a... thing... make its way down the street hurriedly. This thing appeared to know the dangers of the town, judging from its speed. The furry creature was odd to Vincent, a little red ball at the top of its head, and a pair of small purple-y wings. Harmless-looking, the man ignored it when it slipped into a building through a well-used door.
A sigh escaped his lips. What was a guy to do in this place?

((I'll just start. I notified Choco to catch up with us asap, so I'll post a little more shortly.))
Vincent nodded briefly. He understood, though minorly. Would he understand more later on? He sure hoped so. The man shuffled about and made to leave, ready to get out of the harsh environment. He grabbed the end of his cloak so it wouldn't blow so obviously. Sure, he liked his cloak, but being too obvious would be hazardous for the guy.
"We should go," he said wisely, scrutinizing the settling of the evening in the sky. But... how would Vincent get down? Jumping was an option, he could do that. And what about Cid? Erm... the man probably wasn't a happy camper with moving too much. He didn't necessarily have Vincent's gift of being frozen at the tender age of 27. Meh. And Vincent was old and ancient at 60ish. He'd be civil... Vincent looked about the roof before spotting a ladder. Swiftly, he climbed down and stood on the street warily, waiting. Better not pause and give Heartless a chance to jump him.

((YAY!!!))
Vincent obediently followed Cid, drawing Cerberus carefully and letting it sit readily in his right hand. No way was he going to give anything the chance to go and bite him as he was heading to Cid's place. And he'd gotten rusty so it would be good for him to practice... holstering and unholstering his gun. Oh goody. His face was pale in the evening, but not sickly as he glided along behind his heavier-set friend. There was seriously not a lot of interest in his mind here in Traverse Town besides the fact that he'd found Cid and Yuffie. There was still the question of the others.... Hmm. The man, annoyed with the flappy noise his cloak made, grabbed it with his free hand. There was only so much of that thing he could stand when silence would be key in the evening.
He observed his surroundings again. It was so... drab and monotonous. Like Midgar or Edge.

Vincent turned to follow Cid, blindly walking. Of course, he hadn't a clue what was going on. The man rushed after the pilot, backpedalling with his gun concentrated on the closest of the blobby Heartless. His trigger finger twitched and he fired off trios of shots with superhuman speed. That's what would happen with so much practice and years of experience... But the bodies of the victims shattered into Darkness. Dangit, Vincent knew he'd never get used to that. The open space created by the disappearing foes were quickly swallowed up by yet another throng of the little black creatures. A quick strafe right and left and he hoped that there would be sufficient room to move around. His pale face was crossed in concentration. But what if the Heartless tried to attack the building itself? Naw, better to trust Cid's judgement here, though Vincent could certainly use a smidgeon of Cloud's brooding help. Odd, how the swordsman and the gunner were so alike... But the ninja, on the other hand, was a complete mess. Jeez, you'd think a girl her age would have enough sense to not leap off the side of that other edifice and yet here she was being half-dragged. Yuffie was Yuffie. Wutai ninjas. Were they all like that?
A grimace formed on his face when some of the Heartless rode on waves of one another, advancing. A quick shuffle, a glint of gold off of his hand and Cerberus roared with fury, shooting a powerful sphere of fire. The man quickly rearranged his Materia for another shot soon after. Well, let's just say that if Yuffie was paying attention, she'd probably chew his ear out for using the magical ball of shiny-ness. Vincent re-holstered the three barrelled weapon, hurdling towards Cid's house.

Vincent took a quick glance back before throwing himself into the house after Cid and the talkative ninja. Intentionally, he avoided Yuffie's eyes and quickly stowed away the shiny red ball he had hooked onto his gun only moments before. Erm... yeah, about that. He wasn't going to explain how he got ahold of that. Clearing his throat, Vincent made himself "useful" and looked outside the window next to Cid, watching the evil little creatures outside. He was amused, surely, with the mass amounts and their incredibly weak power. Probably there would be more of them later on, perhaps stronger. But he wasn't going to pull a Galian Beast and implode just yet. Vincent should save his energy.
"Does light affect the Heartless?" he asked Cid without leaving eye-contact with one of the blobby black things. If only it was that simple, using Light. Vincent would gladly accept being able to defeat the Tsviets or DeepGround with it. That was over. And he thought he could finally rest after that crap, but he supposed he'd been proven wrong.

What in the sam hell was Yuffie doing?
Annoyed, poor Vincent batted her away, scrambling to sit himself as close as he could to Cid without landing in his lap. As a safety precaution, the man wrapped his body up in the red cloak as best as he could. He hated it when the ninja prodded him like that. And - oh right, she was hunting down his Materia. Bleh, it wasn't like Vincent was just going to give it to her on a silver platter or make it obvious where he hid it. For example, how did he carry around his Hydra, the rifle, along with Cerberus as his handgun, and the Griffin as a machine gun? ((DoC reference)) Who knew, really, just as long as it worked, right?
His lips were tightly pursed before he sat back and tried to relax a little.
"Sora... are there any others like him?" he asked, bringing the subject back to whatever he was thinking about previously. "And how useful are the 'Keyblades'?" Yes, he'd better start with the simple stuff first.

Vincent blinked at his now-deflated-ego of a gun as he pulled the thing out. Useless? Aww... He was close to cursing, but, being who he was, he said nothing and merely nodded in an absentminded fashion. So, these oversized and over-decorated keys were powerful in comparison to his Cerberus... Interesting. Looks like the tables were certainly modified when he awoke in this new dimension. What about his other weapons though? Certainly the Hydra or the Griffin wouldn't stand a chance either.
"No offense taken, Cid, but what about the Death Penalty?" he asked innocently, referring to the Chaos-unleashed form of Cerberus. Along with that, he wavered around the gun for emphasis, keeping an eye to make sure the safety catch was on. And that description of Sora... he couldn't help but blink at Yuffie until the 'kindness' part. Hehe. Amusing how his mind worked sometimes.
"Wait, Cid!" he desperately called as the pilot left to the kitchen nearby. Dang it, left alone with Yuffie again?!?! Brooding, he sat like a statue and ignored the girl. As if he hadn't had enough of her back at Gaia...

((^^ Go ahead and join, Cloud-san.))
Vincent blinked at his tea, just like he blinked at everything else, before responding by taking it carefully and staring into the hot liquid. Deep in thought again. Yuffie was probably just idling in order to steal his balls Materia. Not that he'd give it up though, he got it fair and square. Yeah right, and Yuffie stole hers fair and square. Then he'd have to steal it back fair and square and then... whatever.
Finally, he took a cautious sip before placing the tea down. Still a little too warm for his preference. Dropping the thought of glowing balls his Materia, he turned to Cid.
"I've been wandering around, encountering these Heartless wherever I went," he mentioned, a quickly drawn out sentence that was short and sweet and to-the-point. "It's like they were hunting something or someone, perhaps me." Vincent clenched one of his hands tightly into a fist, iron-hard in strength. "It could be Chaos again. He's back, even after he should be gone and back in the Lifestream at Gaia." The last two sentences were an icy murmur, serious and meaningful to the gunslinger. "It hasn't triggered yet, so I cannot be sure."
He looked up to the ceiling, deliberately ignoring Yuffie and the sugar as he took a second try at Cid's tea.
"I've seen nor heard anything else of importance besides the Heartless coming up everywhere and the remains of the Mako that... were injected into my body all those years ago," the end of his words were hesitant. Vincent could not really mention her name right now. He missed her. And thought about her a lot since defeating Omega and Weiss's plans of the Tsviets and DG. And still remembered her even here in this dimension. Of all things, he feared that she may be alive in this world if not at Gaia. But, like Aerith, would she have completely different memories to what had truly happened?
Emo, he took a gulp of the steaming beverage to clear his mind, smarting a little as it blazed a path down his throat. A wince as it landed in his not-supposed-to-be-looking-anorexic-thin stomach. Ehehe. Now Yuffie would make fun of him. That is, if she didn't chase those magical glowing balls he had hidden first.
"...What have you been doing?" he tossed back to Cid to change subjects. Also to not allow Yuffie to prod him for any information of his balls Materia or to blither on about something else for hours. She could do that later. Vincent frowned before shaking his head to Cid to let him continue with whatever he deemed important. Out of the people most likely to be here, perhaps it was Cloud, not Lucrecia.
