On a forgotten medieval world darkness is slowly taking over. A young magician named Merlina knew this and has been trying most of her life to stop it. Daiken, the dark king of this world, has proven too much for her. After that day a boy named Ren O'Malley came and brought out the darkness in Daiken's heart things have changed for the worst.
One day Daiken had a dream. He dreamed of Merlina and two other figures he couldn't make out invading his castle and defeating him. Fearing his death Daiken sent out as many of his own heartless as he could out into the world to find this Merlina and take her heart. Learning about this the young magician went out into hiding never to be seen by anyone again.
While in hiding Merlina has still been studying magic and the ancient books of the world. She came across a mysterious white book. She found on one of the chapters the day Ren O'Malley came to this world and turned Daiken into the dark side. As she studied the book, she found that it also showed about Daiken's dream and him sending his heartless after her.
She then saw that the rest of the book was blank. Since that day she has kept that book by her side, waiting for a sign. One day she looked into the book and saw that there was a new page that wasn't there before. It had a powerful spell for summoning a person to the world. Before she could read the rest she was attacking by heartless.
Wanting to keep the book out of harms way she fled deep into the forbidden forest. She ended up getting lost and was surrounded by heartless. The book glowed as a new page appeared. Merlina,while running away, read the new page. It showed her using the new spell in the book bring a person from another world to save her.
Merlina quickly read the spell and slammed her staff down on the ground as a beam of green light shot up into the sky, creating a vortex. Merlina yelled out the words as they read in the book. " Oh knight as swift as the wind, heed my call and enter this world. Free this world from it's darkness and bring a new hope to this place." The vortex slowly faded away. Before it was gone a figure fell out of it.
The figure landed face first into the ground next to Merlina. It was Riley O'Malley, the twin brother of Ren O'Malley! He slowly got up, due to his curse he was now a girl, not knowing what had happened. Riley saw that Merlina needed help and made quick work of the heartless with his two twins blades. Due to his speed he got out of the battle untouched. Merlina explained everything to Riley as he was stretching. " Forgive my rude calling for i called you here to free this world from it's darkness."
Riley was slowly taking it all in. He was in the middle of taking a break from quest, but how could he say know to a person with a whole planet falling into darkness. Riley knew his break would have to be cut short. " Alright i'll do it. The name's O'Malley, Riley O'Malley."
Merlina tensed as she heard the name O'Malley. It was the same last name Ren had when he came to this world years ago. Riley saw the look on her face and explained tat he and Ren were on different sides for a moment. Merlina relaxed, for she trusted the person who had just saved her. The book hasn't steered her wrong yet. " I'm sorry for the misunderstanding but i do not know what happens next, there was suppose to be one other.

Eira Collins had been training hard under Marrac's watchful eyes and guidance for the past seven years...or had it been six? Either way, Eira knew it had been for a good while. Thanks to Marrac, whom she viewed as a father figure, she was able to control what powers she could find within the depths of the scythe she always used. She was limited in ice powers for all she knew for now but she knew them well. In fact, if she kept at it, she was certain that she might best Marrac when it came to just the ice element. That thought certainly put a smile on her face. Her adoptive father wouldn't see that one coming! Well, that is, if she didn't have a clumsy moment. Eira tended to be accident prone at the worst of times.
Wandering down the hallway of Marrac's estate, Eira wasn't aware of the things that were taking place in some other world. In fact, she wasn't even aware of what events were to take place that would separate her from her home. 'If only Gramps could see me now!' Eira thought to herself, looking up toward the ceiling with a slight sigh. She missed the old man that had raised her. If he hadn't been so old or sick, they might have spent more time. Shaking the sad memory of his passing, Eira finished making her way down the hall and into her room. There, she had books of all sorts scattered throughout in a complete disarray. Eira had delved deep into a large number of them all for the sake of study.
Picking up her scythe and pulling up the hood over her head, Eira approached one of the spell books she had been studying. Granted, the scythe only made it possible for her to cast anything and only ice but it was worth a shot. If she was lucky, she might just know how to use magic without having to rely on just her scythe. Opening up the pages, just as Merlina in the other world was being attacked by the Heartless, Eira had started practicing the chant she read on the page she opened up to. The chant was intended to create a beam of light in front of her. At least, those were the effects she had been hoping to achieve but knew she wouldn't be able to anyway. Anything that wasn't ice never worked for her.
While she chanted, she didn't take notice of the green stuff that started to swirl around her. If she had, she might have been more alarmed at this point. Before she knew what happened, Eira found herself whisked away from her own bedroom into some sort of vortex. It happened all too fast, however. Before she could realize what had happened, she found herself in the middle of nowhere. Well, some sort of forest, with two figures standing there. She had arrived moments after the Heartless attack so she did not witness what had happened. If either turned to look at her, first glance, they might assume that she was the Grim Reaper. Her face and hands were concealed, her dark cloak looking ominous and her scythe making her seem as if she were all the more.
"...Greeeeat...I seem to have magicked myself out of my own home! Marrac will not be pleased!" Eira said to herself but loud enough for Riley and Merlina to hear her. She didn't realize that she might potentially scare the other two without meaning it. After all, sudden voice and sudden, eerie appearance...the odds were just not in her favor in this one so there was no telling how the other two were going to react at this point.

Riley started rubbing his head as he watched Merlina look through the book. Despite training to endure things that fall from the sky was starting to get to him. He slowly looked at his hand to check for blood. There was none, that was good. He didn't know what to think of the white book, but if it meant freeing the world from what his brother did he was happy to help. After all, he still blamed himself for what happened to Ren.
Merlina had her head in the book. She had no idea what to do next. Most of the pages were still blank. So far the book had been helping her stay hidden from Daiken and most of the heartless, and whatever else was out there. She still had no idea where Daiken was, or what he was doing other than destroying the world bit by bit. She turned to Riley " Riley do you know if anyone was transported with you. Any you were next to disappear before you did?"
Riley shook his head. " I was around no one. And i did see anyone come out of the sky with me. Maybe~"
They both froze when they heard a third person speak from behind them. They both spun around to see a person dressed like the grim reaper stand before them. Riley starting freaking out. " Don't tell me i hit the ground so hard i died! You have the wrong guy! I'm breathing i'm fine!" Riley wasn't ready to die. There were so many things he hadn't done yet. He didn't even have a bucket list yet. He thought he could make one real fast to stall for time.
Merlina was about to ask what did they want when a page in the book started glowing white. She shielded her eyes until the glowing faded away. When she looked again it had a picture of the person standing before them . She couldn't believe it. She started to think this was the second person the book was talking about before. They must have been a longer way than Riley was from this world to be brought he a few minutes later.
Merlina slowly put a hand on Riley's shoulder to clam him down. Riley was a lot shorter than Merlina thought he would have been. She slowly turned to the newcomer. " Where you here by a vortex? If so i summoned you here."

Eira could see the two figures in front her suddenly freeze. Her sudden voice must have surprised them before the pair turned to her. The reaction they gave her, however, was not something that she had been expecting. One woman, there were two of them standing before her, went into a jitter about falling and dying. Then, she went on to say that Eira had the wrong guy, when she was a girl, and that she was breathing just fine. Honestly, Eira couldn't help but look at her funny. She didn't realize that to them, she looked like the Grim Reaper.
"Uhhh..." Eira trailed off, not sure what to say in response to such a bizarre reaction.
While all of this was going on, the book in the other woman's hands started to glow for some reason. Eira wasn't even aware that in the book something was being shown to the girl. Eira just stood there, puzzled, as the woman with the book placed a hand on the first one to calm her down. After she had done that, the girl with the book looked over at Eira and spoke. She was asking her if she had come here by a vortex and if so, then she had been the one who summoned her here. Eira blinked before bringing a hand up to her chin in thought. Riley and Merlina would see a hand come through the sleeve to come up toward the hooded face that they still couldn't see.
"You mean to tell me...that I did not accidentally spirited myself away from home and that you did? Huh, well so much for making a magical breakthrough then!" Eira grumbled out that last part as she shook her head, sighing. It was then that she was reminded that she had her hood up. Annoyed, Eira dropped the hood back to reveal her short, white hair and her light purple eyes. Clearly, she was far from the Grim Reaper now.
"Why did you bring me here? I should be back home, studying! Marrac will worry!" Eira spoke to Merlina. Then, she looked from Riley to Merlina. Riley's attire was very questionable where as Merlina, she wasn't sure about. "Who are you people anyway?"

Riley listened to her talk about accidentally warping herself away from her home. She seemed disappointed for some reason. Maybe she was studying magic and was trying to get warping down. But them Riley thought why would the Grim Reaper need magic? Were people not dying like they used to?
After she took off her hood, showing her white hair and purple eyes, Riley knew she wasn't the Grim Reaper. Her white hair and purple eyes reminded Riley of his master. He hadn't seen his master in over two years. If it wasn't for Ren turning evil and destroying their home world he would be traveling to different worlds with his master right now. That would be true if Merlina didn't summon him here too.
Riley didn't like the way she looked at him. He felt judged. It had to be the clothes. It's always his clothes that bugged people for some reason he couldn't figure out. He was about to get new magical clothes but then Ren happened. He cheered up when she asked who they were. This was his favorite part of meeting a new person after he got his curse. He lived to their reaction on their face when they found out he was a boy. Plus he loved showing off. His left foot moved and in a flash he seemed to be gone. " Who am I who ask?" His voice came up from a tree branch above Merlina. In a flash he was gone again before Merlina could look to see him up there.
" Some call me the raging wind!" His voice came from behind the newcomer. This time Merlina saw him right before he disappeared again. This time he was running around them creating a small whirlwind ( like sonic). Then he appeared right where he started. " The name's O'Malley, Riley O'Malley. Twin brother of Ren O'Malley!"
Merlina was shocked at what Riley was doing. She nearly freaked out when Riley said he was Ren's brother. That was a boy? She wouldn't be able to get over it if it wasn't for the fact there was little time before her whole world was gone." I summoned you here to help me save my world. Years ago Ren O'Malley came and brought strange creatures called heartless here. He and his allies stormed the castle and brought out the darkness in our new leader, Daiken's, heart. After that they left and ever since Daiken has been destroying this world. I found this book with blank pages. It showed me that Daiken had a dream that three figures would come one day to stop him. I was being chased by heartless when a new page appeared and showed me the spell to call you too here."

Eira wasn't sure what to make of Riley. One moment, she was there and the next, she was gone. Each time she seemed to appear somewhere else, she'd disappear and appear somewhere else once again. It wasn't until she stood before her again in the spot where she had originally started where she had finally introduced herself. Instead of immediately reacting to what Riley said about being the "brother" of Ren O'Malley, Eira looked back at him confusedly. Did this woman not realize that she was a woman? Or did she not know of the proper term for sister and thought brother was the right word?
"Uh...don't you mean...sister? Brother is a term for a male sibling...which you are not..."
Merlina interrupted though, bringing up the subject about why she had brought them both here. Eira looked at her as if she had suddenly grown several heads in under a second. "Look lady, I'm no heroine of ancient lore or whatever! I'm sure you've got the wrong girl! I'm the sort that runs from a fight rather than running into a mass of Heartless!" Eira said all rather fast. It was clear that unlike Riley, Eira wasn't one to accept her situation as immediately as Riley had. It might take her a while before she would cope with what she was doing here and why.
"I mean, I'm not even anywhere near my dad's level of magic yet either! I'm just an apprentice so far! You'd want Marrac, my father, not me!" Eira exclaimed but she didn't realize there was no helping her situation. Her reaction was certainly over dramatic and who could blame her ending up caught up in such a situation?

Riley sighed. He never had the problem where the person he was trying to freak out thought he didn't know the difference between brother and sister. What does it take to make people freak out these days? " I am a boy! One day when me and my master returned to our now destroyed home world i met the black witch. She put a curse on me." He slowly pointed to the mark above his chest. " That's how i got this mark and it turned me into a girl." Before i could make her change me back she finished herself off."
Merlina was trying as hard as she could to ignore Riley's story. Merlina was hoping Eira would agree as easily as Riley did. That meant more time to save her world. " I'm sure you were meant to be brought her instead of your father. The book hasn't lied yet, maybe here you'll learn better magic along the way. Besides from what the book told me Riley is also still a apprentice." Merlina was trying her best to convince Eira that she was meant to be here. She never had to convince people to help before.
" Besides it's not like you can just go back," Riley said to himself.

Eira hadn't been the type to freak out right off the bat unless it was something blatantly obvious. With Riley, it didn't appear to be obvious which was why she had thought that maybe Riley hadn't known the difference. Her mind hadn't been willing to accept the fact that what Riley said might be true. It wasn't until Riley explained how he became the way he was when it finally dawned on Eira. Such a thing was bizarre to her. In fact, it freaked her out. How could anyone adjust to becoming the opposite gender in a fortnight? Not many, that was for sure! Also, why was this Riley so casual about it?
"So you're a he...now a she...you're a he she!" Eira stated, now obviously mindblown and not sure what to call him. She would probably be more freaked out if he had said the outfit he was currently wearing was something he had been wearing when he was a man.
When Merlina spoke up again, stating that she was sure Eira was meant to come here, Eira just shook her head and started to walk away. "Just because someone brings me here doesn't mean I'm going to comply! I'm not a heroine! I'm not! You've got the wrong girl! Where I do have ice abilities I still don't know all that I can do and I'm clumsy!" Unlike Riley, Eira wasn't willing to accept the fact she had been brought to a strange world to fight evil. As far as she was concerned, she was going to get off here by some means. The thought of having everything depending on her scared her. Eira was not a heroine. She didn't have the self confidence of one and she always self doubted herself or was as clumsy as all get out. Clearly, someone else should have been summoned in her place. Eira couldn't handle such a responsibility. She didn't realize what she was and that she would eventually become what Merlina foresaw of Riley and herself. Until then though, she wasn't going to be the compliant one.

Riley got what he wanted, well half of what he wanted. Eria was freaked out by his story. He felt proud of himself until she called him a he she. His entire world seemed to be shattered to him. He had never been called that before. He felt like such a freak. his head slowly lowered. He was so offended e was nearly to tears. " Did you really have to call me that?" He asked with his head still down.
Merlina sighed. Clearly Eria didn't believe she was meant to be here. She was lucky Riley agreed so easily. Merlina looked back inside the white book too see if it said anything about convincing Eria. So far the only new page was the one that glowed when Eria arrived. Merlina then noticed the text that came under the picture. She didn't brother to read it before now. " Warning: will be over dramatic. Proceed with caution" the text read. Merlina shook he head, the book seemed to have a sense of humor.
Unfortunately it didn't tell Merlina a way to convince Eria she was meant to be here. She tried tapping the blank page next to it to see if something would come up, but nothing happened. She had no idea what it would take to get Eria to join her and Riley. She slowly looked at Riley for ideas.
Riley slowly pulled his head back up and looked at Merlina. By the look on her face Riley could tell Merlina really trusted the book. Normally he would want nothing to do with someone you called him a he she. But when it came to saving a planet from his twin brother he was willing to put most of his feelings aside. Until his mark glowed that is. He came up with a plan nearly instantly. " Oh well. Guess we can't keep you here, that is if you just so happen to have a way to go back to your home world?" He asked sarcastically with a smile. " Well i guess we'll be off then. Leaving you all alone in a forbidden forest in a world you know nothing about. Did Merlina forget to mention that the world is slowly being destroyed and is overrun with heartless? Oh well i guess if she did you know now. Take care and best of luck."
Merlina was shocked by what Riley said. " But Riley we need her to-" That was all she could say before Riley took her by her hand and dashed off quickly. With Riley's speed it seemed they went out of sight through the forest. But really Riley came back and laced them behind a tree a few yards away. He slowly whispered to Merlina his plan. " if she really doesn't have a way back home she'll be begging to come along with us. Plus if that doesn't work we could always knock her out with a shovel or something and drag her along with us."

Eira did not intend to insult Riley. If anything, her mind was just blown on what to call him...or her...that was really a him turned into a her. It was confusing! When Riley seemed to take offense, Eira took a step back. "Er...I didn't mean to insult you! I'm just not sure what to call you!" It didn't seem to help Riley any since the other didn't bother raising their head at all. Oh well, she couldn't fix what had been broken apparently. After telling them that she wasn't a heroine and wasn't what they were looking for, Eira started to walk away. No offense to them but she wasn't up for a suicidal adventure anytime soon.
As she walked a few steps away from the other two, she heard Riley speak up. Apparently, they were agreeing to the fact that they couldn't keep her here. They were wondering if she had a way out of this world. Now that Eira had thought of it, she didn't have any idea how she was going to get off this world. She couldn't just teleport herself out of here or somehow spirit herself away. Eira didn't have any of those abilities.
Before long, Merlina and Riley had taken off after forewarning her of the heartless swarming this world. Eira frowned over at where they had been last. Realizing that she hadn't any means of returning home on her own, Eira had no choice left. "H-HEY! WAIT!" Eira shouted after them, running in the direction that she had seen them go. The two would see Eira appearing in the distance headed for where they had gone.

Riley smiled to himself as he watched Eria call for them and run right past them. He quickly ran to her side and stopped. For the record i prefer being called a guy. Because one day i will go back to normal." He slowly turned away." But if you want to call me a girl.. that's fine by me." It didn't matter to Riley if he was called a boy or a girl. Calling him a guy wasn't going to magically turn him back, they've tried that already. He didn't mind being called a girl because he had gotten used to the change. In fact he may have gotten to comfortable with the gender change. Besides, not like he had to change the clothes he was wearing to go along with what he became.
Merlina slowly walked over to them. " I'm glad you decided to come with us. Its much safer than traveling alone. She looked ahead of where they were standing. Her hideout wasn't too far from where they were. " if we keep going this way we'll reach my hideout," She said as she slowly pointed forward. " It's not safe to stand out here. We should continue this where the heartless can't reach us and Daiken can't find." She had never seen Daiken come close to this forest. But many heartless have come near it. She was sure this was the only place Daiken couldn't reach her. But she feared what he had laid out for her outside the forest.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Far away in a sealed away castle a figure sat on a throne. The whole place was filled with darkness. Beside the throne stood a figure with bird like wings. Someone cam in front of the throne and bowed. " Lord Daiken, a vortex was spotted coming from the forbidden forest. A person fell out of the vortex that was caused by Merlina. That was all that was sent back to us before the newcomer killed all the heartless.
Daiken slowly looked down at the person. " There is no doubt in my mind that is was someone from the dream." Daiken had a dream long ago about three figures, one of them being Merlina, coming to the castle and defeating him. That was the reason he had been trying to kill Merlina all this time. " I want you to go and keep an eye on them. Kill them before the third one shows up. Without all three of them the dream can't come true. Don't fail me again or don't come back at all."
The person nodded and left the room. The figure beside the throne looked over at Daiken. " You think they'll make it all the way to the castle? You have moved it about nine times." Daiken didn't look at her. he was getting annoyed by her comments.
Eira, upon seeing Riley suddenly appearing, letout alight squeak before falling back onto her butt in her surprise. As she heard him, Eira at least now know what to call Riley. Then again, Riley didn't seem to care what he was called for the time being. "Er...alright. I'll try to...call you consistently one of those..." Would he be turned back to normal? Well, they would certainly find out then. Until then, it was going to be odd calling what looked like a girl, a guy.
Then, Merlina walked over to them revealing where she had been too. Bringing her gaze over to where Merlina was, she heard her saying that she was glad that Eira had decided to go with them. Eira wasn't really sure what they were going to be dealing with here in this world. Due to her lack of self confidence in her skills, she didn't think she'd be of much help even if what Merlina said were true. Eira just didn't feel ready. As Merlina informed them that ahead was where her hideout was, Eira got back to her feet and brushed herself off. As she did so, only then did she realize something. As if a light bulb appeared above her head and lit up, Eira made an exclamation.
"OH! I forgot!"
Eira looked from Riley to Merlina. "My apologies for not saying this sooner but...my name's Eira! And er...sorry...for earlier." Eira rubbed at the back of her neck then awkwardly. "I um...don't have much confidence in myself..." Eira looked away then, not really sure how they were going to react. She had, quite bluntly, been a brat to them at first.
( sorry i meant to post Friday morning but stuff came up)
Riley looked in the direction Merlina pointed too. His blue eyes seemed to light up when Merlina said hideout. He wasn't a fan of big houses but loved hideouts. He found the need for hideouts when he had so many enemies that were from the same home world as he was. He nodded in agreement when Merlina said it wasn't safe to stand around here. He didn't like the idea of waiting for an attack in a forbidden forest.
He turned to Eria as she finally introduced herself." Don't worry about it. I used to be the same way, but then i kept getting better and better.Besides not like you could run off on us. I would catch you and drag you wit his if that's what it took." He said that last part with a smile. He was only joking, but he might have done it if it came to that.
Merlina looked at Riley as he told Eria he would have dragged her along with them if he had to. " Riley.. don't scare her off." It did take longer than Merlina thought to get the two the book told her about. But they did show up and that gave Merlina hope. There was only one problem, she didn't know what they were suppose to do next. There were still many blank pages left. She held the book and looked for anything new. Sadly she saw nothing that she didn't see before.
Riley looked over at Merlina with a eyebrow raised. He thought she was a bit obsessed with the book. The book was the reason Merlina was still alive, but he still thought she was too eager for a new page to appear. Merlina saw the look on Riley's face and thought he was distrusting her. " Uh.. let's get the the hideout. We need to stay hidden for the time being." Merlina started off in the direction she pointed to. Riley looked at Eria, making sure she didn't run off.
(OOC: It's fine, I can't always reply right away either so I know the feeling lol.)
Eira wasn't sure what to make of what Riley had said. At first it seemed like reassurance but that last part, even though it sounded like a joke, seemed like there could be some truth behind it. Well, at least things didn't have to come to that. She wasn't sure how she'd take to someone trying to drag her off somewhere. No doubt, she wouldn't cope well with that. Merlina, as if sensing what Riley had been implying, had told him to not scare Eira off. Poor Merlina just might end up the only mature one in their group it seemed. Eira was over dramatic and Riley enjoyed messing around it seemed. Yes, Merlina had her hands full between the two of them.
There was an elongated silence. Eira wasn't sure what to think before noticing Riley looking over at something. Following her gaze, Eira spotted Merlina. Merlina appeared to have her nose in that book. Eira hadn't seen what that book did but she found it peculiar that Merlina was looking at a book so intently. It were as if she expected it to give her answers as to what to do right then and there before they went to the hideout. "Say...what's with the book?" Eira questioned Merlina as she broke the silence. Riley's look had unnerved Merlina it seemed as she had told them to just get to the hideout without a word about the book. "Uh..." Eira trailed off before glancing back over at Riley, whom was now watching her.
"Well, guess we'd better go." Eira did run but not away and boy did she regret it. As she ran to catch up to Merlina, she wound up stepping on the hem of the front of her cloak. As a result, Eira ended up faceplanting on the ground in a sprawled heap. "Oof!" Eira exclaimed. So much for being graceful.
Merlina didn't like the look Riley gave her. It was as if he was judging her choice of following the book. What made Merlina feel worst was Eria asking her about the book. Merlina didn't know what to tell her and just kept walking on. What was she suppose to do, tell them she brought them here to save the world all because of the book? That wouldn't help things at all.
In fact Merlina thought it would just make things worst. It might cause Riley, who agreed to help fix his brothers mess without question, to leave Merlina and this world. The way Eria was over dramatic it could cause her to run off into who knows where or faint on the spot. Merlina decided telling them would have to wait. As she was walking she opened the book again, just to check it yet again. With her head in the book she couldn't see where she was going. She ran right into a low hanging tree branch. She feel backwards flat on her back. " Ouch..." was all she could say. This happened right around the time Eria tripped over her cloak.
Riley watched as Eria followed Merlina. Good, she wasn't running off. Riley didn't think he had another prank up his sleeve that would make her join them again. He slowly followed behind both of them, making sure Eria didn't duck into the trees or Merlina didn't leave them. His jaw fell and one of his eye browns raised as he saw Merlina run into a tree as Eria tripped over her own cloak.
Riley couldn't say anything about it. He had ran into many things in the past, but that was because he couldn't control his speed back then. Sometimes he would slip on his own feet if he wasn't careful. But those they were over and it wasn't like Merlina and Eria knew about them. He cupped both his hands together and slowly brought it to his face. At this rate they would be down to one chosen one because the other two died on the way there.
He removed his hands from his face and came over to Eria. He held out his hand, to see if she wanted help getting up. He thought maybe Eria was just having one of those days. He looked over to Merlina as she got up, putting the book under her cloak. Riley had no idea what was in that book. Whatever it was it had to be important for her to read it while running.
Suddenly the sound of a horse's hooves could be heard up the road. The sound kept coming closer and closer to the three. Up on the tree tops a large cloud of darkness was slowly traveling along with the sound. The full moon seemed to be slowly covered up by two clouds in the shape of hands. Up down the road a hooded horseman could be seen coming towards the three on a jet black horse. Above the horseman was the dark cloud and below was a dark shadow. Whoever it was Riley and Merlina had a very bad feeling about it.
Eira spluttered as she pushed herself up. Her face was full of dirt and her hair got some leaves stuck in it as well as twigs. Groaning a little, realizing what she had done to herself, Eira righted herself on the ground. "Grreeeeat!" she grumbled. She let out a sigh, her face notably red with embarrassment. She hated it whenever she had her clumsy moments. At least no one seemed to have said anything. Grumbling to herself, she blinked as a hand suddenly came into view. Blinking, she followed the hand to see who the owner was and found Riley had been the one offering his hand to help her up.
"Uh, thanks!" Eira stated as she took Riley's hand and used it to help her get back up on her feet. As she got back to her feet, Eira began to brush herself off, tsking as she did so at her clumsy ways. Ahead of them, she saw Merlina in the corner of her eye getting back to her feet as well. At least neither of them had been harmed much in their moments.
Ahead, there came the sudden sound of hooves. Eira wasn't sure where it was coming from but instinctively, despite her fall, she pulled her hood up over her head to conceal her identity. Riley and Merlina knew who she was but most people assumed she was something else whenever she had her hood up and scythe in hand. If anyone saw her, they'd think the usual Grim Reaper thing. Granted,it was only appearance. Anyone with senses could tell something was off about this supposed "Grim Reaper". Seeing that Merlina and Riley only appeared to be busy staring at the oncoming horseman, Eira gently nudged Riley as she started backing away toward where Merlina was. For now, she chose to not say anything lest she blow her cover. Marrac always taught her the element of surprise was a very handy thing in a battle. Honestly though, she was scared of what that thing might be. Who was that and what was all of that? They should probably run!
Merlina had no idea who the horseman was. But she knew one thing, Daiken must have sent him. Daiken must have saw the vortex Riley came in and sent someone after them. Merlina wished the spell she used brought Riley here in a smaller way. she wasn't expecting to face one of Daiken's minions so early.
Merlina watch as Eria put on her hood and started backing towards her. She must have no wanted to be known by the horseman. This was the worst time for someone to come after them. She had left her father's sword back at her hideout. She would just have to use magic if it came to a fight. She looked at Riley who was still standing there watching the horseman come closer to them.
Riley looked back as Eria backed up to Merlina. He thought maybe she had a plan. He didn't like the look of this horseman one bit. He thought about what Merlina said about Daiken. Was this one of the heartless Ren brought into the world?
It didn't matter if he was working for Daiken or just a heartless, if he got in his way it meant he had to be taken down. Riley didn't mean that, but at the same time he did. Riley felt strange, he usually didn't feel like that unless his mark glowed red.
He looked down at his mark and unsurprisingly it was glowing red. This wasn't good, red was the one color he didn't want it to glow at a time like this. He didn't have time to warn Merlina and Eria about his mark, so he had to be quick. His hands glowed as his twin blades appeared in his hands.
The horseman kept getting closer and closer to the trio and the moon was nearly all covered up by the two clouds. It seemed that his head was only looking at Merlina. From where the three were standing they could see glowing red eyes standing out in the darkness from under the hood.
The horseman finally stopped about 7 feet away from Riley.Riley showed no sign of moving from the horseman's path anything time soon. The horseman slowly removed his hood, reveling his silver hair and scar across his head. " Good to see you again... Merlina," His voice was nearly icy cold. He seemed to be paying no attention to Riley for now until he looked down at what he thought was a little kid. " You best get out of my way and go play hero somewhere else little girl."
Riley's seemed to be getting a angry expression on his face. Normally something like that wouldn't get to him. But when his mark turned red everything changed. He knew there was little time before the change was complete so he had to act fast. " Don't you dare call me a little girl! I am far older than my height tells you. And i give you this warning, anyone who stands in my way will be.. killed on the spot!" At that moment his hair turned purple and his eyes turned red. The full change was complete, Riley had no control over his action now.
Eira hoped that her identity would be concealed from whatever it was coming their way. She was sure it looked like some sort of horseman but what powers he might have remained to be seen. As the horseman reached where they were, Eira went still. Merlina and Riley weren't moving at all. No one seemed to be willing to run right now. Shouldn't they be running? Even though she wanted to ask this question, she couldn't. If she spoke up, it would reveal who she was and her guise would be blown if it hadn't been already.
The horseman finally stopped several feet in front of Riley. Riley didn't move out of his path and just simply stood there. As the horseman lowered his hood to reveal his identity, Eira wondered what was going to happen. He had greeted Merlina before speaking to Riley. Apparently, he thought that Riley was too young to play hero. Not a wise thing to say someone. The horseman had been so demeaning.
What happened next, well neither Merlina nor Eira knew what to make of it. Riley had retaliated but what came over Riley wasn't anything either of them had expected. It were as if Riley had become possessed by something or had become another person. Eira didn't dare go near Riley hearing what he had said to the horseman. It was only a matter of time before Riley lunged for the horseman. It looked like Riley had gone primal or something. 'What the heck is going on?' Eira wondered.
Merlina didn't see this coming. She knew who the horseman was. He had been chasing after Merlina ever since Daiken had that dream. That scar on his head was from her father's sword. Se had cut him during their last encounter in order to get away. She froze when he called out to her. She knew she couldn't out run his horse on foot.
She didn't like that Riley was just standing there in his path. She didn't want him to get hurt because of her. She was about to call out to him when his twin blades appeared in his hands. He didn't look back to them. Did he plan on fighting him by himself?
What happened next Merlina didn't see coming. Riley told the horseman that anyone in his way would be killed. That didn't sound like Riley at all to her. She had only known him fora little time but nothing he said or did lead to anything like this. Was he serious or just joking like he did with Eria? His tone when he said it told Merlina he was serious.
Before Merlina could say anything to Riley his hair changed to black and red to all purple. Was that suppose to happen or did the horseman cast a silent spell on Riley? Merlina called out to Riley. " Riley get away from him! I don't think we can take him right now!" Merlina wasn't too sure about this, the book didn't say anything about the horseman showing up.
The horseman's eyes narrowed to Riley as he changed. Did she really meant that she would kill him if he was in her way? What he really wanted to know was did she really think she cloud kill him? He slowly raised his left hand as darkness flowed from his arm to his palm. The darkness took the shape of a lance. " I'll deal with you later... Merlina. Right now this kid needs a lesson. Hope you have what it takes to back up those words." He slowly raised his hand the shadow under him stretch in front of him and formed into heartless. Five shadows and three darkballs.
Riley slowly turned around when Merlina called to him. His face had a angry expression. From that point both Merlina and Eria could see his mark glowing red and his new red eyes along with his purple hair. He turned back around when the horseman summoned his weapon and heartless. " You both dare... to mock me? You think i am so weak i can't take a simple lackey. And you think summoning some of the most pathetic heartless ever to live scares me? Be prepared.. because the punishment for angering me isn't a light one!"
( Fell free to take out the heartless and wail on the horseman, he's pretty much going to be the Pete of this story)
Eira wasn't sure what was happening with Riley but there definitely seemed to be a change. One that warranted caution. In fact, the back of her neck prickled as soon as the change had overcome Riley. Something was wrong and she could feel it. It were as if the air around them had reacted to the sudden change. It suddenly became more energized and frightening. Eira took a step back in response. As for Riley, his hair changed to a purple color and when he had turned around, they could see that his eyes had also turned to red. The look on his face was disconcerting.
What Merlina had said seemed to be unheard. Well, that is, until Riley had turned around to face the horseman again. Heartless were now in the area as Riley spoke. Eira glanced over at Merlina, smiling meekly. "Uheheh! Er...not sure about you but let's not make Riley mad!" she stated. The Heartless, while Riley was busy with the horseman, were now coming their way. Eira didn't want to fight the things but they didn't have much of a choice. It was that or run. Eira didn't think that Merlina would even run. Not sure of what Merlina could do, Eira stepped in between the Heartless and Merlina. Her scythe was at her side, held at the ready.
As she made sure to keep her face concealed, Eira took in a deep breath and braced herself as the creatures approached them. Riley seemed too preoccupied with the horseman Honestly, Eira would rather Riley be busy with the horseman. She wasn't sure what that change had been with Riley but she was sure that she didn't like it. It was best they stay out of Riley's way for the time being.
Two Heartless leaped for them. Eira had been ready for them too. Bringing up her scythe, in one fluid motion, Eira had managed to cut the two Heartless in two dispersing them right on the spot. Where Eira wanted to jump up and down to cheer at what she just did, she couldn't. There were more of the things to take care of. Now, there were just three Shadows and three Dark Balls. The fight hadn't been an easy one for Eira. Riley, on the other hand, seemed to be doing just fine. In fact, the horseman looked like he was on the defensive. Riley didn't seem to be letting him get any attacks in.
Considering the number of Heartless, it was down to Merlina and Eira with those. If she could help it, Eira did her best to keep the things from reaching where Merlina was. Unfortunately, the effort alone earned her several scratches. Even still, Eira did her best without using her ice powers unless she needed to. It was a struggle but Eira had managed it. Now what remained yet to be seen was whether or not the horseman would consider himself defeated and leave...or worse, die.
