Merlina said it would take them an hour to get there but without them he could get there faster. Then Eria said it would not be wise for him to go alone just in case the stones were guarded by something. While he didn't want to fall into a trap with the others far behind and unable to help him, he didn't like being slowed down. " Please if i was on my own i would grab all the stones and beat Daiken faster than you can say good game!" he gloated.
Merlina was glad Eria said that Riley shouldn't go alone, she didn't want to catch up to purple haired Riley. Besides they didn't know where the other two where, and so far she was the only one who could read Leainly Elvish. Then Riley gloated about being able to get all the stones and beat Daiken faster if he was alone. Merlina looked at his outfit. " Um Riley... i don't mean to be rude but where would you keep the stones?" she asked.
Riley was imaging him grabbing all three stones and beating Daiken on his own. he was completely zoned out from the rest of the world. As far as Merlina and Eria could see he was just day dreaming and looking at the sky. That was until Merlina asked him where he could keep the stones. He had never faced that problem before. Everything he used just seemed to magically appear or someone else would carry it for him. He never had a adventure where he had to collect things on his own yet. " Well that's easy. I would... um.... he started feeling around for any pockets. " I swear i told my tailor to put pockets in this."

Eira rose a brow at Riley when he bragged. "Please! You might run faster than us but there still could be traps! You'd be caught in a mouse trap if you sped on ahead of us." It didn't take long for Merlina to jump in too. As the mage girl spoke, Eira turned to her and then toward Riley. Merlina brought up a good point. The scanty outfit that Riley had didn't appear to have any functional pockets from what she could tell.
Finally, Riley admitted that he hadn't any pockets. "There, another reason why we should come along!" Eira stated with a nod in Merlina's direction. A smile on her face then. Granted, it would slow things down for Riley with them coming along but weren't they suppose to be in this together?
"Besides, we're all suppose to go, aren't we?" Eira had looked in Merlina's direction for confirmation of this. She seemed to know of them for some reason. Surely, this journey too was meant for all of them? Why was she so eager to go though? Eira was already wondering why she seemed to be encouraging this. No doubt, because she'd rather get this whole thing done and over with. Once she got back home, no way was she going to meddle with anything that involved teleportation or the like until she got the hang of it under her father's supervision.

Well there went Riley's bragging rights. They brought up good points. The writing on the wall and the magical book did say three people. As far as he knew he couldn't make clones of himself, which was probably a good thing. There should never be a reason to have three purple haired Riley's in one universe. If only he had pockets. " My tailor is so fired when i find him."
Then there came another good point. While Riley could run fast he could still run into traps. Eria said something about him being stopped by a mouse trap. He wasn't that small was he? " Mouse trap? I may be short but i can't be that small! Am I?" Compared to everyone else on his home world he was normal size. But then again they were all short when compared to other worlds. Both Merlina and Eria seemed to be more than a foot taller than him. He didn't like being slowed down but he didn't want to be caught in any trap with no one around to help him. " Fine then, i guess i'll let you two tag along." he joked " At least until all the mouse traps are gone."
Did Eria really meant Riley could be caught in a mouse trap? Merlina wasn't so sure. They were in a different world, and the sizes of animals did change from world to world. But mice weren't that big in this world. Where they much bigger in Eria's world? That would mean they would be at least as big as Riley. He did seem a bit on the sort side when standing beside her and Eria. " Glad you see it our way Riley. I'm sure you'll find a better tailor soon, while you're at it would you consider a change in costume too?" she joked to him.
His outfit was something she would never wear. How did Riley even get a outfit like that? Was it battle damaged and he never got it fixed? The bigger question was if he was wearing it before or after he was cursed. She could never picture any man ( or woman) from this world wearing something like that. But then again people were different from world to world. Not to far from them they could see a small village coming int oview. " That over there is Linterin village. One of the oldest villages in this world. If we go through there we should reach the sleeping cave soon after."

Eira hadn't literally meant that Riley could actually get caught in a mouse trap. Whatever thoughts had passed through Riley's mind at her comment didn't occur to her as she looked from Riley to Merlina. It seemed like their words had convinced Riley enough to let them come along. That was good. Eira didn't think it would be a good idea to try and tackle Riley. Riley was fast and she had a funny feeling that he'd either change into his angry self or drag her along. The thought of ground burn was not a fun thought.
Eira let out a snicker as Merlina suggested that Riley have a change of costume. Yes, a change of costume would be nice. The three of them finally set off. After a moment's walk, Merlina finally announced that the small village they were coming to was the oldest in her world. Just beyond it was the Sleeping Cave.
"Cozy little place."

The small village was closed in by a wooden fence. Above the entrance was a sign that read " Linterin village". Most of the buildings were pretty small houses, some were two story. The one building that stood out was a tall temple. It was at least five stories high and on the last floor it had a porch. On top of the cone roof was a golden pole with a red flag flowing in the wind.
The roads were made of dirt and seemed to be a little un-leveled. Through the roads were few people. A farmer with a wagon that had a horse tied to it. A woman with a little girl could be seen walking into the temple. To the side of the city there was a small field that lead to a farm. In the middle of the path not too far from where the three chosen ones where a group of men. They seemed to have formed a circle when the three arrived. There was one that seemed to be the clear leader and life of the party. He turned around to point to the three and said something they couldn't make out. Soon after they all started laughing.
Towards the end of the village there was another opening in the fence. It lead to a dirt path going up a mountain. Up the path went around and up the mountain and lead into a small cave. From where Merlina and Eria where they could see a fading light in the tunnel before it disappeared. Riley was too short to see it from where they were.
Riley glanced around the city. There were many villages like this back in his home world. He knew they came in many different sizes and shapes. He looked up at the big temple. He had no idea what is was used for. Was that a look out tower? Those were mainly only a part of castles. When he looked back down he could see the men pointing at them and laughing. Where they laughing at his outfit? It was very common thing to wear back in his home world among both men and woman. Of course the things people wear back in their world might make others laugh.
Merlina could tell there was something wrong here. There where usually a lot more people here than there were now. This place used to be crowed with people in the streets. What happened here? Sure it had been awhile since she had been here but could things change that much in so little time? Did Daiken do something that caused people to stay in their homes or move away? Most of the houses seemed empty and with little to no light. She took her mind off of it. They weren't here to sight see, they had a stone to find. She pointed to the mountain " Up there is where the sleeping cave is. It's not as far as it seems. We should be there in no time if we hurry.".

Eira looked upon the village as they neared it. From what she could gather, it wasn't just tiny but almost deserted. There was barely anyone on the streets save for that family she just saw entering a temple and that crowd clustered around. One of them was pointing at them and laughing. Eira blinked at this. Why were they laughing?
As they finally neared it, she could see what appeared to be some sort of tunnel up ahead somewhere leading into a cave. Maybe that was their place? Merlina spoke, unperturbed by the people pointing at them and laughing. As she finished, Eira frowned over at the crowd despite her cloaked hood concealing her face.
"And if those idiots don't try to intercept us..." Eira retorted. They might be harmless but who was to say those people, those men, wouldn't try to pick a fight with them? Eira wouldn't put it past them. It almost looked as if they were all looking to pick a fight.

" I don't like the way they pointed at me." Riley said. Maybe Merlina was right, he should get a costume change. Riley shook his head, why make a costume change now? He looked up towards where Merlina pointed to. " So that's the cave huh? Alright let's go!" Riley was eager to get going. It had been two years since he had a real adventure. When he first got here he still wanted to take it easy, but now he was ready for his next adventure. Mostly because Merlina promised to help him find a cure after this was all over.
Merlina looked at Eria then at the group of men. She knew them all too well. They had been causing trouble for years. " Oh yes... them. Just ignore them and i'm sure they'll leave us alone. After all we're just passing through." She thought that would be the case, but that never stopped them from causing trouble before. The only reason they weren't banished from this place was because their leader happens to be the son of the priest.
The group of men approached them. They seemed to know Merlina. " Well Well Well what do we have here?" Their leader said. " If it isn't the " all powerful wizard" Merlina. Thought we told you to stay out of our land Elf!"
" We don't want any trouble, we're just passing through."
" What's wrong with being an Elf? Elves are awesome!"
" Two newcomers eh? Well we don't take kindly to new folks or Elves around these here parts. Even more when their dressed like that."
" Yea. You see i pretty much run this here town. So my word is law, so you three better turn back girles."
Riley's eyes started to twitch. First these men laugh at his clothes, then make fun of elves, and call them girles. They were pushing to many of his buttons. One of the men pulled Riley's hair.
" Hey boss look at this. Have you ever seen hair this long on someone so short?
All the men started laughing. Riley's hands started glowing a pale blue. The men were trapped in the same color aura. That was the last straw. No one touches his hair and gets away with it. " Lesson number one...never touch the hair!" Riley trusted his hands forward as the men were sent flying back into the wagon. The horse was startled and started running off with the men inside. Pretty soon they were out of sight.

Just as Eira had suspected, the group that had been pointing at them earlier decided to get in their way. Eira frowned over at the men. She had her hood up so no one could really see her face. She could try to pretend to start reaping someone but she didn't think that ruse would last very long. Things escalated quickly, however, when one of them had suddenly grabbed hold of Riley.
"You let her g-!" Eira made to say but Riley already took care of the situation. Hands turning suddenly blue, all of the men now adorned in the same aura, Eira watched as Riley sent them all skyrocketing into a wagon. The horse standing in front of it became startled and took off as fast as it could go.
"Well, that escalated rather quickly...nice shot."

Before Merlina could help Riley he had already taken care of them. They were sent flying into a wagon as the horse took off. She didn't think anyone would care about their hair that much. If normal Riley reacted that way, then how would purple-haired react? She didn't want to be there to find out. " Well... i guess that takes care of them. I have a feeling they won't be causing trouble around here for a while. We should get going before we cause anymore trouble."
Before she started to walk off Merlina noticed that Riley's hands were glowing blue. Soon they stopped glowing and he aura disappeared. She didn't know Riley had telekinesis too. She thought he uttered some silent spell or his curse did something. Just what else was Riley keeping from them? She looked towards the mountain. It seemed just as empty as ever.
Riley felt proud of himself. He did a little victory dance. It had been sometime since he had use his telekinesis. He almost forgot he had that power. He watched as the wagon went dashing off. Maybe he overreacted. He didn't think so, one of them did mess with his hair after all. He smiled at Eria when she said nice shot. " Yea.. that's what they get for messing with my hair!"
The more Riley thought about it, the sillier it sounded to him. But he didn't care, not like he could take it back. After Merlina told them they should get going he looked towards the mountain as well. There didn't seem to be much to it. " So... it's just in that mountain? No traps or sealed away creature guarding it?"
" Not that i know of. The writing didn't say anything about it."
" Well then...boring!"

Eira heard Merlina simply state that what Riley had done took care of their problem. The guys that had been bothering them wouldn't likely cause anymore trouble for a while now. With that, Merlina told them to move on before they got into more trouble. Eira wasn't sure if Merlina was lecturing them over what had happened or if she just wanted to avoid people bothering them. Whatever the case, Eira followed Merlina.
In the corner of her eye, Eira could see Riley dancing in glee. After she had commented on Riley's aim, she heard him respond stating that they got what they deserved for messing with his hair. Well, Eira wasn't going to say anything about one's vanity. Even she didn't like it when her hair or whatever else got messed up on her.
"Don't mess with the hair!"
Then, they were headed for the mountain. Just as Eira had been wondering what lay within, Riley went on to ask Merlina about it. According to Merlina, there wasn't any traps. That made no sense to Eira. Why place something as important as that in a mountain without any form of protecting it from those who shouldn't get their hands on it? No, chances are they were probably going to find a trap. If not, she would be very surprised and probably nag the object's previous owner for being neglectful.

As the three of them headed up the mountain the sky started to turn dark. Night time was approaching fast. Someone of the dark clouds over the city had faded away. As they went into the entrance of the cave, they could tell someone else was already in it. A single torch was lit where the cave split up into five different paths. The fire was still burning strong, as if it had been lit not to long ago.
Each one of the paths seemed to lead to a darker path with little to no light. There was no telling were who ever lit the fire went. The cave seemed to be made of a light blue rock, some of which were faintly glowing. Merlina had read about these in her books. Her eyes started to follow the ones that were glowing until they stopped glowing where the cave broke off into different paths. That didn't make any sense to her. " That's odd. These are teriy rocks. They glow faintly when ever someone steps on them. And the fire on the torch is still going on strong. Someone else is here. But whoever it is must be able to fly or something, because the rocks stop glowing where the path splits up."
Riley looked around the cave. As Merlina told them about the glowing rocks he couldn't help but think of someone else taking the stone before they did. There was no way he was going to let that happen. But who would know about the stones? They were the only ones who knew it was here. Unless Daiken did have a spy who somehow learn about the writing. " It could be a spy. Or someone else who somehow found out about this place. Either way we have to find that stone first! Which path do you think we should take?"
Just as Riley asked the others a question another voice could be heard. There was no telling where it was coming from. " Which path indeed Riley. It's been far too long since we've sat down and... discussed our differences. But that time will come. Right now it's all about your little wizard friend Merlina. The real question is which pat will you be taking. You see we knew you would make it here. But will you be able to lead the others down the right path? Or will you lead them to all your deaths? I bet you want the book to tell you which path to take. But if i'm right you haven't told them about the book am i right? How long did you think you could keep the secret from them? Think hard Merlina, the real quest begins now." The voice slowly faded away.

Eira looked upon the cave as they entered. Inside, there were torches lit. Since she had never been here before, it was not obvious to Eira that these torches shouldn't be lit. She just assumed a guard of some kind patrolled the area and lit them. She didn't realize that someone else, rather than a guard had been here. It wasn't until Merlina mentioned this to them that Eira realized something was amiss.
"Something that could fly or float...great," Eira grumbled. She did not want to see something freaky but it wasn't like they could turn back now with the world at stake. Plus, she was beginning to think of Riley and Merlina as friends. No, despite her judgment, she would not turn back or run for it. Not unless, of course, something startled her badly.
As Riley spoke up, Eira wondered who it could be or what it could be. She just hoped that they would come out of this alright. Then, something happened not long after Riley had spoken. It was another voice, one where the source wasn't discernible. Out of surprise, Eira had latched onto the closest person before realizing it was just a voice. Releasing them, Eira spoke. "Great...a voice talking about some sort of book...can't get any creepier than that! Oh, and better yet, talking about our deaths like they know something we don't." Yes, there was that dramatic side to her again.

Merlina couldn't make out where the voice was coming from. She started to look around for it until they said her name. That's when she froze. How did they know her name? She didn't recognize the voice. Maybe Riley was on to something with the spy theory, at least that was the only way they could have known her name.
When the said something about the book, Merlina wanted to run away. She knew she would have to tell them about the book sometime but she didn't think it would this soon. She was hoping it would be after this was all over, so they would have a good laugh about it. She thought if she told them now they would think she was crazy and abandon her.
Riley knew that voice. He just couldn't put a name on it. It was someone from his past, but who? He just couldn't remember for some reason. Whoever they were they seemed to be more concerned with Merlina than him. He noticed when they said something about a book that Merlina seemed worried. What was this book? After the voice faded away he turned to Merlina.
" I know that voice from somewhere, but i cant remember where. Their name is on the tip of my tongue. What book were they talking about Merlina?"
" I didn't want to tell you two until later, but i guess there's no avoiding it." She showed them the white book. First the page with Riley falling out of the sky, then the page with Eria coming into the world. " It shows be the future at random times. It told me about the spell to bring two people here that would help me save the world. I've been using this to avoid Daiken and stay hidden. Most of the pages are blank, it could show me anything at anytime."

Eira looked toward Riley when he spoke, stating that he had recognized the voice. When he had asked Merlina what book was the voice talking about, Eira turned her gaze onto Merlina. The mage girl went quiet for a moment. In fact, she appeared to be scared. What she said next made Eira furrow her brows as she folded her arms, waiting for Merlina to answer them. There was something about the book that she didn't want to tell them.
As the three of them stood there, Eira waited for Merlina to continue on with what she had to say. Eira couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at what Merlina was saying. She had heard of all forms of magic but nothing to that extent. "Huh, sounds like an interesting book."
Eira glanced around the tunnel before looking between Riley and Merlina. "If one of us is suppose to die, or it shows one of us dying at some point, do me a favor and don't tell me about it. I'd rather not know that." She left it at that before looking around.
"So which way should we go?"

Riley couldn't believe it. A book that could tell the future. That sounded like a type of book he might try reading. " Now that's a book i would read.. you know once all the pages are filled in." He agreed with Eria said if it told about them dying Merlina shouldn't tell them. Not that he thought he would be the one to die.
Riley walked a bit closer to the paths, the stones under him glowing as he stepped on them. He quickly looked down them and still couldn't see much light at the end of ether of them. He knew nothing good could come from them splitting up, he had tried that before. As he looked closer he could feel there was something at the end of the middle path. " I say the middle path. I can't explain it, but i feel something down there. I feel like i felt it before, but not in a long time. Maybe the voice was coming from down there."
The other two had reacted better than Merlina thought. She thought they would think she was crazy and finish this quest on their own. But they seemed to think the book was something awesome. Riley even said he would read it when it's done.
When Eria asked which path they should take Riley seemed to already be checking them out. Then after a short amount of time he stated he felt something he had felt before down the middle path. " Are you sure? What i mean is are you sure it's something we should go and check out?"
" I'm sure it's nothing we can't handle. If i met it before i'm sure it's not that big a threat. I am still alive after all aren't I?" With that Riley started to walk down the middle path until there was a snapping sound. It was followed by Riley screaming in pain.
" Riley what happened?!"
" I got caught in a mouse trap!"

Eira did not want to know if any of them were to die. If the book foresaw it, she didn't want to know. It would only make her too scared to do anything. Considering their goal, it wouldn't do them any good to know when they were going to die. That is, if any of them were to die. Eira hoped none of them were destined to die. Of course, with this kind of goal, it would be a miracle if they even remotely survived this ordeal. Eira, unlike Riley, still didn't have much confidence in herself prevailing over evil forces. Heartless were generally small fry but that was different.
After Eira asked which path they should take, she heard Riley suggest the middle path. For some reason, something was calling to him down there. "I hope you're right...I'd hate for us to walk right into a trap!" Eira replied.
Merlina asked Riley if he was sure and his response was that he was still alive. Eira rubbed the back of her neck then. "Famous last words..." she mumbled to herself as Riley started down that path. Eira could only watch as he went before something happened. When Merlina asked what happened, Riley stated that he had been caught in a mouse trap.
"I...don't even know how to respond to that one!" Eira stated, stuck between shock and amusement. At least Riley wasn't dead. That would've been terrible. Walking toward where Riley was, Eira wondered if it really was a mouse trap.

Merlina couldn't believe her ears. Was Riley really stuck in a mouse trap? This was something she had to see for herself. She followed Eira to where Riley went. It wasn't long before they could see Riley jumping up and down with a mouse trap at the end of his right foot. It was just as Eria said a while back.
Merlina had to cover her mouth so she didn't laugh in front of Riley. The sight of this was too good to be true. After calming herself down she slowly removed her hand from her mouth and tried to speak. " Well... i guess Eria was right. You are small enough to be caught in mouse trap."
How could he fall for a trap like this? Riley didn't know anyone who puts out mouse traps for people. Why would someone put something so small for a real person? Whatever the reason was it seemed to work. No matter how hard he tried he couldn't shake the mouse trap off.
He didn't think he could feel any worse. That was until Eria and Merlina saw him. After all his gloating he gets caught like this. Never before ad he felt so embarrassed. " Don't just stand there! Get this thing off of me!"

Eira did her best to contain a fit of laughter that threatened to burst from her as she realized Riley really had been caught in a mouse trap. Of all the silly things, Riley go caught in one of those! She was, at least, happy that their friend hadn't gotten seriously injured. Well, save for his pride. No doubt, he was also humiliated by the fact he had gotten caught in one. Eira, too, wasn't sure how that happened. Had someone truly overheard their conversation somehow? It was possible.
"You know...now that I see this...mouse trap...I can't help but wonder if someone had actually overheard us." Eira stated before Riley, out of mortification to his situation, had demanded they help him get the mouse trap off of him.
"Fine, fine! I'm sorry!" Eira stated after walking over to Riley. It seemed like the trap had latched onto his foot pretty good. Bending down, Eira grabbed hold of it and yanked. What happened next wasn't pretty for Eira. The force of her pull managed to get the mouse trap off of Riley but it caused Eira to launch herself into the cavern wall. When she did that, the mouse trap seemed to have reactivated during its airborne travel and firmly latched onto Eira's finger!
"YEEEEOOOOOOOOOOUUUUCH!" Eira let out a wail as she jumped to her feet, clutching at her injured hand that stil had the mouse trap firmly clamped onto it. "Getitoffgetitoffgetitoff!" Eira stated as she hopped on her feet with pain.

Riley was so relieved when Eria pulled the mouse trap off of him. He couldn't take much more of that. From now on he was going to look where his feet where going. He started blowing on his foot, trying to ease the pain. It wasn't helping as much as he thought it would.
Before long he heard Eria scream. It seemed the mouse trap had taken her finger. " HA! You see? That's what you get for laughing! Not so funny when the shoes on the other foot is it!?" He was quite happy to see the mouse trap didn't just take him.
Merlina could barely hold in her laughter. First Riley had it on his foot now the mouse trap was on Eria's finger. She had to make sure it didn't take her too. After regaining control over herself her hand started to glow blue. The mouse trap started glowing blue as it unlatched from Eria's finger and started floating.
Merlina guided it far away from them before letting it go. "Whoever was talking to us must have heard Eria say you were small enough to fit in a mouse trap Riley. Unless you ran into one before and you met this person before."
" I do feel like i met them before. But i still can't name them for some reason. There's only one way to find out, we'll have to make it to the end of this cave. Without anymore mouse traps..."

Eira flailed her hand around in pain. It stung so much, the pain! As she did so, she heard Riley laughing at her, saying how the tables had turned on her now. "I-If I weren't...owowow, hurting....I'd...snap it on your nose!" Eira growled at him. Of course, she could do nothing in this state as she danced around, trying to get the blasted thing off of her finger. The mouse trap stubbornly remained clamped onto her finger for a good minute before quite suddenly, it started to glow blue in color. When it did, the mouse trap had suddenly let Eira's finger go and floated into the air.
"Oh thank god! That hurt!" Eira exclaimed as the mouse trap had let go of her finger. Grabbing her finger with her other hand, Eira tried to rub it as best she could. The rubbing didn't help it all that much, however. Her finger still stung with pain and from the looks of it, was blue in color from the pinch. No doubt, there would be some bruising there.
As Eira focused on the mouse trap, watching it get sent further away from them, Merlina spoke. Looking over at Merlina, Eira could tell that it had been she who had removed the infernal trap from her finger. "Thanks!" she said to her. It didn't take long for Merlina to state that someone must have overheard Eira when she had said that Riley had been small enough for a mouse trap. According to Riley, the person sounded familiar and probably knew him. Who?
"...And that's by not getting stuck in another mouse trap!" Eira commented as she pointed ahead of them. There were multiple mouse traps all over the cavern floor ahead of them in their path. "Well, this isn't going to be any fun."
