Okay, but where do we go?
Arkyron thought for a moment, but before he could turn to reply, he saw Kay had walked some distance away from him. The girl beckoned to him with a wave, and surely enough, he followed, smiling. The keybearer wasn't sure where to go, but he had a few ideas. "Well, there's a shack on the other side of the beach, and there's a small cave hidden over by the pond," he suggested. "It'll probably be easier to watch the rain from the cave though," the young man added with a smile.
Yet, Arkyron couldn't help but feel a sense of foreboding, as if something ominous were ahead... The keybearer shrugged off the feeling however, and continued thinking of possible places for them to go. However, none came to mind, so he decided to just let Kay choose.
The young man couldn't help but like Kay. There was just something about her personality that resembled himself so much in his eyes. Maybe he was just crazy, but that was how he felt. Arkyron couldn't explain the strange connection... Yet he felt like Kay understood him better than anyone but Hikari. That only made the keybearer trust her more.

Kay waited until Arkyron joined her, and then she headed up towards a small wooded plank, which up towards the pond and the cave. The blanks bottom was buried lightly in the sand and as Kay's weight met the plank, she could feel it dig even deeper down into the sand. Once stepping off of it and next to the pond, she could feel the plank lift back up to where it belonged.
The rain continuously fell around her as she stood next to the pond waiting for Arkyron. Despite only their few words of conversation, Kay felt comfortable around him. She felt comfortable around him in a way that made her think that she had known him for quite a while before this day.
Closing her eyes for a moment, Kay studied on the rain that was hitting her cheek and sliding down to her neck. It was warm, yet somewhat cool, just enough to send goosebumps trailing up and down her body. The jacket helped at times like this. It kept the remainder of her body somewhat dry, though it was already slightly dampened.
"I think the cave will do just fine." Kay said to Arkyron. It was true that the cave would be sufficient enough for them to stay dry. It might even be a little muggy from trapping all the hot air inside of it. Turning away from Arkyron, Kay studied the cave's entrance.

I think the cave will do just fine.
Arkyron listened to Kay's answer, and nodded in reply. Yet, the young man paused for a moment when he proceeded to the pond with the girl. Something wasn't right with the storm... The keybearer shrugged, thinking little of it, and headed towards the cave, making sure to stay alonside Kay. The sand was soft beneath his feet, but the dirt was far more comfortable to them as he walked. Yet, everything that had happened at Castle Oblivion gave him a sense of foreboding...
The young man gave the feeling more thought, wondering what it could be.
You were an expirement; an attempt to create the ultimate dark warrior. Yet, the small light in your heart prevented the dark from taking over. You're as close as you can be to being a heartless without being one.
Those words still stung the keybearer like a needle to the eye.
You, experiment A-5, WILL surrender to the dark and unleash the great power within you! All that needs be done is snuff out that little flicker of light within you.
The girl's words hadn't struck him near as harshly as Martieve's however. Arkyron refused to be just some... weapon. He was a person; he could feel anger, happinness, hatred, love, among all the other emotions. Yet... he couldn't help but wonder... was that his purpose in this life? Was he doomed to forfeit his life and become some weapon to conquer the worlds? Only time would answer that question for him...
(Woo! It's not short anymore!)

Kay turned to look back at Arkyron; he seemed to be lost in thought yet again. Kay reached a hand up to her face, wiping away the water yet again. This was becoming a constant for her. The longer that she was in the rain, the more she would probably have to deal with it. After all, things got worse before they got better. Kay was certain that the storm would increase and get worse before it became better.
"Something on your mind again?" Kay asked Arkyron. She then turned away from him as if it were the simplest question in the world. She knew however, by the look on Arkyron's face that it wasn't something as simple as it appeared to be. Something had been bugging him from the moment that she had first spoken to him. The first words she had spoken to him had been regarding what was bugging him, and yet here she was asking him again. She doubted that she would get a different answer.
Looking away, Kay studied the cave entrance. It seemed warm and muggy inside, but she wondered if that was only it's appearance. In reality, it could be cool and damp. The cave could be small enough where the heat from the Island could warm it immensely. Kay wasn't sure at all.
Turning back to Arkyron, she wondered what was on his mind and if she could help him.

Something on your mind again?
Kay repeated her question from when she'd first met Arkyron... The keybearer wondered how to answer. If he told Kay the whole truth, she'd likely assume him to be some demon of the dark like Martieve made him out to be. If he didn't tell Kay the truth at all, he'd feel guilty... As the young man let out a sigh, he closed his eyes, focusing.
"Well... I suppose I'd have to tell you eventually anyway..." Arkyron replied, a serious tone in his voice. "You see... I'm not a normal person by any means... and someone's been trying to make me a pawn of the dark to harness my power... It's forced me to stay away from everything I care about. I wear that jacket to conceal my identity from him... and so I won't endanger my friends..." the keybearer explained.
There; he'd told Kay part of the truth. Now he wouldn't feel so guilty for concealing things from her. Regardless, Arkyron let out a sigh, and opened his eyes. "I'll explain more, but first let's get you out of the rain," the keybearer suggested as he gestured towards the cave.

Staying silent, Kay proceeded to the entrance of the cave. She turned away from Arkyron, deciding not to look at him. Truth be told, she thought of him in the same way. It wasn't his fault that people were trying to bring him into the darkness. He was fighting against it, trying to keep himself and his friends alive through the light that Arkyron so obviously wanted to keep near him.
'I wear that jacket to conceal my identity from him... and so I won't endanger my friends.' Looking down at her body as she walked, Kay couldn't help but think that she had put them into danger by accepting the jacket from him. If she hadn't borrowed the jacket, then she wouldn't have felt that she had exposed Arkyron, which she so obviously had done. Whether or not anyone had seen him was the true question.
Kay felt the rain stop as she passed under the entry way to the cave. The cave was muggy, but wet, just as Kay had suspected it would be. Pushing her hair out of her face, for hopefully the final time, she looked at Arkyron.
"Here." Before he could protest, Kay slid the jacket off of her arms and her body and handed it back to him. She wouldn't feel right if he had been caught so that she could be a little dry from the rain.
Turning away from him, she examined the cave around her. It wasn't small like she had expected it to be, but it was long. There was a pathway leading further back into the cavern in front of her. Who knew what was down there. Kay wasn't so sure she had any intention to look and find out.
Looking over her shoulder at Arkyron, she waited for him to speak. She did not know what she would tell him, or how he would react to anything that she did tell him.

Arkyron followed Kay inside, still completely dry. The keybearer wondered if she'd notice... He didn't have much time to wonder though, as before he could say anything, he found the girl gesturing for him to take the jacket back. The young man tilted his head in confusion, but took it back regardless, smiling. Arkyron guessed it was Kay's reaction to what he'd told her. Not hesitating, he quickly slid the jacket back on, and pulled the hood over his head just enough so that only Kay could see his face.
Arkyron let out a sigh, and leaned against the cave wall as he crossed his arms across his chest yet again, thinking about what to say. After a few moments, he smiled beneath his hood, remembering some of the good things that had happened in his life recently... It quickly faded though, and the keybearer's expression turned serious again. "Well Kay, I told you I'd explain anything about myself you wanted to know. I suppose I should only keep my word. Go ahead and ask a question. Or I suppose if you'd rather, you can tell me a bit about yourself," the young man rambled.

Kay couldn't help herself - she smiled at Arkyron. Despite everything that was happening to him, or what was going to happen to him, she still felt comfortable around him. She didn't see him as someone that would hurt her. She saw him as a friend, or for now an acquaintance since she had just met him.
Kay noticed him smile just beneath his hood. His face was somewhat still vivisble, and he hadn't hesitated even a second to put the jacket back on. Kay supposed he had good reason to do so very quickly. If she was on the run from darkness she would have kept herself concealed as well.
"I don't think it would be right asking questions about your life when I barely know you." Kay spoke softly for a moment. She could hear the rain outside the cave as she spoke to him. It gave off somewhat of an eerie feeling to her. Smiling, she spoke once more. "However, if you would like to tell me anything, that would be completely different."
Kay didn't feel it was necessary to tell him about herself; after all, what were the odds that she would ever see him again after this storm cleared, after this night passed? Nothing was guaranteed, and Arkyron would probably be just another face in a book of useless memories.
Jumping slightly, Kay reacted to a loud boom of thunder. It hadn't frightened her, she just hadn't been expecting it. She smiled and blushed at her stupidity and leaned against the opposite cave wall from Arkyron. It was rather...cozy the more she thought about it.

Arkyron couldn't help but snicker a bit when Kay jumped. He didn't sense fear from the girl, so he assumed she'd merely not expected it. The young man let out a sigh, then stood straight up, glancing outside, then resumed his position. "It's pretty vicious out there... Then again, that was obvious, and not what I promised you. I always stick to my oaths..." Arkyron said, an enigmatic tone in his voice.
"I already told you that I'm not the least bit normal," the keybearer added, pulling his hood down, showing his completely dry face. "Yet, you deserve to know what I meant... For you see... I'm barely human. I'm as close to being a heartless as I can be without turning... I'm what they call an experiment..." he explained. "I don't understand though... I have just as much a heart as the next person!" the keybearer yelled, turning and punching the wall. "It's my destiny to choose... not his..." the young man muttered under his breath.

Kay watched as Arkyron punched the cave wall with impressive force. This was obviously a touchy subject for him. Kay wanted to push further, but she didn't know if she should. He didn't owe her anything. He didn't need to tell her anything, promise or not.
Biting her bottom lip, Kay continued watching Arkyron. She wasn't sure what to say to him. Her first impression of him was that he was a human, whether he was an expiriment or not. To her, he was just another being, despite his troubles.
"Barely human or not," Kay walked towards him and looked him in the eye, letting him know that she was meaning everything she was saying to him. "you're still human. You have a working heart, obviously one that feels and allows you to show emotion. One that keeps you alive."
She paused and smiled at him, still keeping eye contact. She didn't know if what she was saying to him struck true to him or not. "You're the furthest thing from a heartless that I've ever seen or met."
Breaking eye contact with Arkyron, Kay looked outside the cave entrance. It was still pooring outside. As Kay looked back at Arkyron, she allowed her smile to fade.
"I don't know you at all and i've just met you. It seems to me that you have nothing to be afraid of. It's your life, whether expiriment or not. You should choose your destiny."

"Nonsense. He's a pawn of the darkness, just like any other heartless. He just refuses to accept it. It's true, he was human... but no more. If anything you should be encouraging the keybearer to accept his destiny," rang out a cold voice before Arkyron could respond to Kay.
Arkyron glanced around, looking for the source. The young man knew the voice all too well... It was the very thing he'd been running from. After a few moments, he turned to see a dark portal appear, and out of it stepped an old man. This was Martieve. The man's cold, yellow eyes teamed with evil deeds of the past, and his silver facial hair blew on the slight breeze. The old man, better known as Martieve, also wore a dark navy trenchcoat with boots to match, the rest of his clothing concealed beneath his coat.
"Oh, but that's right. He didn't TELL you he's a keybearer, now did he?" Martieve tormented, malice upon his face. "Then again, I guess you can't expect honesty from such a creature, now can you?" he continued.
"Martieve... What do you want here!? Just go!" Arkyron demanded fiercely. "I already told you, I'm not some demon of the dark like you make me out to be, and I'll never cooperate with you!" the keybeare shouted in rage, summoning Fate's Crossing to his right hand. It was in fact a keyblade, similar in design to that of Oblivion, except it was slightly longer and the blade was thinner. At the hilt, the handguard came together, surrounding a green gem. "Kay! This is what I warned you about! Run!" he said as he turned to the girl, worry and concern upon his face.

Kay's first instincts of course were to stay. The person that had appeared out of the dark portal had given off a few words of warning: words of warning about Arkyron. He made it seem as if Arkyron had lied to her about everything that he had been telling her. Turning to look at Arkyron, he had already yelled at her to go. However, she didn't feel that it was right to leave him in such a situation. No doubt he had warned her about this, but she didn't feel right leaving him. Then again, if she were to get hurt, he would have felt extremely guilty, and she knew that. She didn't want to put any type of pressure on him.
Kay blinked at Arkyron, almost as if she were to say that she was sorry. And in an instant, she was gone. She had teleported further down the cave. If she were to still be in the cave, then she could hear if anything had happened to Arkyron, or if anything had happened to the man that had appeared out of the portal.
As Kay examined her surroundings, each word that the strange man had said echoed throughout her mind. She believed Arkyron...but should she?

Watching as Kay fled as he'd requested the girl, Arkyron turned his attention back to Martieve, and quickly rushed the man, unleashing a flurry of stabs and slashes. Martieve was faster than last time though... and to the keybearer's dismay, stronger. Martieve ducked under one of Arkyron's horizontal slices, then unleashed a forced-palm attack upon the young man's chest, knocking the wind out of him. The keybearer stumbled back in agony and amazement, clutching his chest with his left hand. The old man hadn't even had to use a weapon!
Now incredibly alarmed, and regaining his composure, Arkyron summoned Banishment to his left hand. The white and blue blade glowed in the darkness of the cave, seemingly filling the place with life. It was truly an awe-inspiring blade. Preparing another attack, Arkyron rushed Martieve, but this time dissapeared into a dark portal. The old man looked around in shock, wondering where he'd gone... only to feel a sharp pain in his back. The old man cried out in pain, then fled into a dark portal like the coward he was.
With a satisfied look, Arkyron watched the old man leave, still clutching Fate's Crossing and Banishment in his hands. When the keybearer was sure Martieve was gone, he headed further into the cave, hoping Kay was still there. As the young man proceeded, he realized the cave was far larger than it had seemed at first. Finally, he came to the end, and there stood Kay. Arkyron's expression was a proud one, but it soon faded to concern. "Kay... I was going to tell you... about the keyblade...." he began to say, his face turning to one of shame as he dismissed the blades. "I shouldn't have given you any reason not to trust me, but I didn't want to bring them up until you knew you could... if you want me to leave.... I'll understand..." the young man explained, an almost sad tone in his voice.

Looking up, Kay could hear footsteps coming towards the end of the cave where she was located.
Kay couldn't believe that Arkyron felt the need to explain his motives to her, especially when she knew nothing about his life, nothing about what he had just dealt with. His weapons; his keyblades, those were his. Though she was slightly curious, Arkyron had no reason to explain to her.
She was trying to be understanding towards him, but each time something happened, things began to get thicker between them. They learned more about each other; they learned about each other's strenghts and weaknesses. They learned about things that they didn't need to know, however they were doing it anyway.
"Arkyron," Kay began. "you owe me no explanation. I barely know you." Smiling, she studied the look on his face. He seemed sad, and almost afraid that she was going to ask him to leave.
"I have no reason to ask you to leave me alone. On the contrary, I feel rather safe with you. I could hear how you handled yourself with...that guy. Whoever he was."
Pausing, she looked at Arkyron. "Who was he?"

Kay seemed calm, and she was rather reassuring, but Arkyron still felt guilty. Then the most devastating question came.
Who was he?
At the sound of those words, Arkyron frowned, and closed his eyes, biting down on his lower lip. "That... was Martieve... He's responsible for the destruction of many worlds, including my own. That man has enough darkness in his heart to fill the very universe with it... His power is scarcely matched, and he's merciless, leading to many unnecessary deaths... That's the very man who experimented with me, and made me the creature of the dark that I am..." the keybearer explained, dismissing Fate's Crossing and Banishment from his hands. Then the young man went silent, unable to say anything more. "Kay... it's just... I feel as though I can trust you with almost anything, and as if you deserve to know why I came here..." Arkyron finished, unable to say more.

Kay could to tell her everything that was going on with this little...incident. She could hear the sincerity in his voice. So, he did trust her. She trusted him too. That was the reason he felt compelled to tell her all of these things about his life.
Nodding, Kay looked at Arkyron. She knew that he was about to tell her why he had had things on his mind. Why those things had been bugging him, and most importantly, why he was here.
"Why are you here?" She didn't know if she deserved to know why he was here, then again he seemed as if he wanted to tell her. It was sometimes easier if questions were asked about certain things anyways instead of waiting for the opportune moment to tell someone something that's been on your mind; and obviously, whatever information Kay was about to learn had been on Arkyron's mind.
Arkyron had been experimented on, so what? Obviously it was a tender piece of his past, but it was something that Kay didn't care about. She cared about the person standing right before her. She had grown to know this Arkyron and only within a few moments she had trusted him. She felt that sure there was another piece of him left behind some time ago, but he was still fighting for himself. He was fighting for what he wanted; and he appeared to be doing a damn good job of it.
"Arkyron, it makes no difference to me if you were a part of Martieve's experiments," She paused. This was a lot to be saying someone she hardly knew, but she felt like she did know him already. "I know you as you are now."

Arkyron sighed, and smiled, opening his eyes to look at Kay again. "Thank you Kay... that means more than you know..." the keybearer replied.
Then something else caught his gaze... the very thing he'd been searching for. A ... door? In a cave...? One would think this was highly unusual... but Arkyron knew better. There was a keyhole here; that much was certain... but... had it been sealed?
"I came here searching for this," the young man said, seeming to drift off into thought as he studied the door. "The door to the heart of this world... I didn't quite expect it to be so literal though," the youth joked, letting out a small laugh himself. "I hoped to learn something about my own heart by finding the heart of this world... Why you may ask?
The destiny of all worlds revolves around this one," Arkyron explained, a solemn expression upon his face as he ran his hand against the wood. As he did so, a name rang through his mind. Sora. Wasn't that the name of the keybearer who defeated the Seeker of Darkness, as well as Organization XIII? Why would that name run through his mind? Was this perhap's the hero's homeworld?

"Yes..."Kay mimicked. Looking at Arkyron, she spoke with curiosity towards him. "but why are you looking for it?"
She had absolutely no idea why he would be looking for this door, but as Kay looked upon it, she realized that the stories she had heard long ago about a door had all been about this one, and they had probably all been true. She had heard of three young teenagers as well as many people in cloaks. She had encountered heartless and nobodies sure, but never any of these people.
"Is it important to you somehow?" She knew that Arkyron was trying to gain his life back. Martieve had made it difficult for him to do so. Perhaps Arkyron had to find this door, and perhaps that was all he had to do. Maybe now that he had found it, he could get his life back. Perhaps Kay was just standing in his way. Should she leave him so that he could do what he needed? He wouldn't have to worry about her anymore. His instant reaction when Martieve had attacked had been to get Kay out of the area, and she had listened. If she wasn't around anymore, then they wouldn't have to deal with any of this from now on.
The only question that remained however, was whether or not she wanted to leave.

With a sigh and a smile, Arkyron glanced from the door back to Kay, then back to the door again. "I've been searching for this door because... If the heart of it is sealed away... then the darkness can't overtake it. The only problem is... the information I needed was within the heart of the world... If it's already locked, that means unlocking it, which would draw an immense number of Heartless and Nobodies... However, I don't need to do so anymore," the keybearer explained, his face lighting up as he turned to face Kay once more.
"For you see Kay... you've already done that for me. I needed to find out if I was truly condemned to dwell in the darkness as Martieve suggested... but you've shown me otherwise. Thank you... for being a light," Arkyron said letting out a small laugh.

'Thank you... for being a light.'
Kay couldn't help but smile at this. In her opinion, she hadn't been a light in anyway. She had only given him kind words and hopefully words of advice. There was nothing that he couldn't have figured out himself, and this was one of those things. She wasn't a light. She was just a person who had helped him see what he was missing.
Nodding, Kay continued to smile at Arkyron. "Well, you're welcome." She wanted to add that she didn't feel like a light, but she knew she would have a hard time convincing him. Allowing her smile to fade, she looked at the situation at hand.
"So, let me get this right," Looking into Arkyron's eyes, to make sure that he wasn't about to lie to her, she spoke again. "because I 'showed' you the light, you don't need to do any of this anymore?"
