When Bartimaeus started singing the battle started to turn. Lara felt a surge of strength pump into her. Dealing more powerful attacks to the heartless around them, Lara was able to move faster and defeat them much quicker. Perhaps this was the tide they needed for the battle! Finishing off one heartless, Lara turned to face the next. She spotted Bartimaeus singing and charging towards two different heartless that she had never seen before. What were those?!
Bartimaeus only had his hunting knife. But that was all he needed for these two. As he blood boiled in his body he met the first heartless head on. The shadow like heartless swung its blade forward. There were no claws to cut off this time. It was a fight with weapons now! Bartimaeus's hunting knife was only about a foot and a half. It was meant for killing animals, not battling swords.
As the sword came for his head Bartiameus raised his knife not to block the blade, but to curve its angle. Throwing off the arc of the blade, Bartimaeus was easily able to land a series of slices on the muscular torso of the heartless. The creatures didn't bleed, but they did leek darkness. These enemies weren't going to go down like the neoshadow heartless were.
The heartless retreated back, using its wings to hover in the air. Bartimaeus went on the offensive, not allowing the heartless to put distance between them. Slicing again and again it was a struggle of retreat and Bartimaeus's head on attack. The other heartless had gone on to attack the Captain and Rekka. He couldn't help them, but the magic should stay with them for a while.
With increased speed it became clear the heartless wasn't going to get away. It started to fall into the ground like the majority of heartless did. It was a mistake on the heartless. Bartimaeus was close enough to send his sword into the skull of the heartless! With it defeated, he turned to the elf. Less then five feet away!
The elf was busy enchanting once more, and upon locking eyes with Bartimaeus went to summon more heartless no doubt from its book. Bartimaeus had enough! He threw his only weapon, the hunting dagger, straight towards the enemy with all his might. The throw was precise and aimed for the elf's chest. This could have been a stupid move, or an incredible clever one if it worked.
Bartimaeus watched the elf's eyes go wide as he rose his book to block the attack. "Success!" Bartimaeus thought as the knife pierced the book. The elf's surprise quickly turned to anger! The remaining heartless around suddenly vanished, with the book being pierced by a knife.
Glancing back to Rekka and Lara he made sure that they were alright. Lara had been about to swing at a heartless when it vanished. She looked over to Bartimaeus and the angry elf with a knife in his book. She didn't lower her armor or weapon yet though. The heartless might be gone, but that didn't mean the battle was over. Turning to the elf she walked towards him.
"I..." The elf began looking right and left. He was more then confused now. Lara saw fear in his eyes. "I cannot allow you to enter Elfhiem..."
Lara watched the elf tap his foot. Then she was falling... They all were falling as a giant portal to a different world opened underneath their feet.

The battle certainly had gotten better for them. However, being cocky with one's strength wouldn't be wise. Rekka knew caution still had to be in her or she could risk getting killed being too confident. Now that the small fry Heartless were seemingly disposed of, she had dispatched another group of two, her attention turned onto Bartimaeus and Lara. Lara, like her, had just finished dealing with the Heartless. As for Bartimaeus, he was dealing with two really odd looking Heartless.
Rekka had never seen this type of Heartless before. She knew it was a Heartless though for all of them had that same look to them. These ones though carried weapons. They looked demonic and more powerful compared to the ones they had dealt with before. As Bartimaeus focused his attention on one, seeming to have gone into a berserk frenzy, the other turned its focus on them and came for them.
"Look out, Lara!" Rekka called. Since fighting, she had felt herself improve a bit. Not due to the boosts of strength and speed that the bard had given them, though it helped greatly, but since being thrown to the wolves to put it plainly. Ever since they had come out this way, Rekka had been thrown into situations where she had to fight like this. Though her skills weren't anything like Lara and Bartimaeus, Rekka did seem to be getting the hang of things. Her injuries she had received were minor compared to the injuries she had received back in that mountain pass they tried to travel.
Speeding up, thanks to the bard's boosts, Rekka was able to block the thing's weapon before it could strike Lara. As their weapons clashed, Rekka stepped back and out of the way to allow Lara room to attack if she had been choosing to take that opportunity. The Heartless, though obviously strong since it had been sturdy enough to keep its weapon still, had the disadvantage of being outnumbered two to one.
While they fought that Heartless, Bartimaeus was taking care of the first one. It had held firm against his attacks up until the point where he had stabbed it in the chest. The thing had dispersed and left the bard free to attack the elf openly. If Rekka and Lara had been watching, they would have seen what Bartimaeus did to the book and what effect it had. Since Rekka hadn't been watching she was surprised to find that the Heartless they were fighting, rather hardly because of how strong it was, suddenly disappear. Wary that it might come out somewhere else, Rekka glanced around before her eye finally settled on the bard and the elf.
The elf looked like a cornered animal as Bartimaeus began to advance toward him. Lara was doing the same. Seeing as the elf was still a threat, Rekka headed toward him as well. Between the three of them, the elf might have a less chance of escaping. Unfortunately, none of them anticipated what would be coming next. Even though the elf clearly feared them, he had told them that he couldn't permit them to enter Elfheim. After tapping the ground with his foot, Rekka suddenly found herself falling!
"AHH!" Rekka exclaimed as she fell through what appeared to be some sort of portal along with the others. Or had she fallen with the others? It wasn't easy to see who else might have fallen in but one thing was certain. Their effort to make it to Elfheim had been foiled by that elf!

Lara had barley started forward when the portal opened underneath all their feet. Everything was covered in darkness as they fell into a different world. What that new world was however remained to be seen.
---------------------------------
Kanam swore. His good book of heartless was destroyed! Ruined! All by that damn knife man! And that singing! Well he had taken care of them! He doubted that they would be returning to Elfhiem anytime soon. Kanam had put them in a place where it would take a few days to get to any civilization.
Pulling the knife out of the book, Kanam examined his rare artifact. The book had been one of his favorites, and the power it had held! "Maybe I can fix it." He thought as he created a portal back to the village. Surely one of his other books had the power to fix the book of magic. Stepping through the portal and into the village, he was glad to be back.
Night had finally fallen on the village. Crossing it his eyes landed on the giant oak tree and the children around it. They all sat around it with their heads held high and their ears perked towards the Chief Elder. He spoke in a loud voice as he told his story. "The Great Falhorn blew his horn and raised his sword and the ancient armies of the past came from the earth itself! They charged down the hill the army of evil below fell the quake of thousands of elvan warriors! And what did they do children?"
One of the children answered, but Kanam had passed their group by then. "I should have known becoming Chief Elder was an impossible mission!" He thought as he came to his home. Like the others it was built into the tree, using the natural branches of the tree to help hold his little home up. It was about the same size as the other houses. His dream of power and control had ended when he had fleed from the Last Battle those years ago.
Going through the door to his home the lights to the room lit. They were not allowed fires in their homes, so to not endanger the trees. Instead glowing orbs of light hung in orbs lit the room. The room that Kanam entered was his living room it led to the kitchen through a doorway to the left, and up the stairs was his bedroom and study. Every piece of furniture was made naturally out of the wood that the old trees dropped in the forest.
"Close the door Kanam." A voice said from the doorway to the kitchen. Kanam's shoulders rose like a caught creature. The Prince stood in the doorway. Immediately Kanam fell to one knee. "My Prince!" He exclaimed.
"Rise you fool! Before someone sees us!" Kanam rose and closed the door. Why was the Prince here? In his home? Had he been watching him the whole time? "But I didn't fail! They won't reach Elfhiem!" Kanam tried to reason with himself.
Standing before the Prince now, Kanam felt awkward. The elf was much older then he was. His power could easily snap Kanam in half. And those swords on his belt... Kanam had seen the Prince in battle. It was something few people could claim.
"Is it done?" He asked.
Kanam tried to stand a little taller. "Yes sir! They will not be reaching Elfhiem anytime soon."
The Prince had left the doorway of the kitchen and now stood directly in front of him. He and Kanam were at the same height, but the Prince looked younger. "And have they perished, Kanam?" The Prince asked him.
Kanam's eyes went wide as he realized that they had not. "I..." What could he say? Should he admit his failure?
"Do not lie to us, Kanam." A third voice came from the kitchen. This time Kanam did fall to his knees and dropped his head to the ground. In the back of his mind, he had always thought that the Emperor was alive, but there was always that doubt. But there was no mistaking his voice.
His Highness, The Emperor, walked out of the kitchen to join them. Kanam could barley see the long black cloak the emperor wore. "Rise, Kanam." He commanded.
Lakari was dressed in a black cloak. However it was a cloak with the symbol of a red bird on the back. The hood was pulled back to reveal the Emperor's medium cut blond hair and wild eyes. "You would lie to me Kanam?" He asked.
How could Kanam lie to the Emperor? "They did not. I failed." Kanam hung his head, ready for whatever judgement might be passed.
"Never lie to me Kanam. I do not appreciate lies." The voice was not filled with anger or scorn. It was calm and collected.
That was even worse to Kanam. "Yes. I will not."
The Emperor turned to the Prince. "Find out where they went. It is important we have eyes on your sister at all times. She is vital to our plans."
The Prince nodded and opened a portal. "Yes Father." The Prince left, leaving Kanam alone with the Emperor.
"Your Holiness? What shall I do?" Kanam lowered his heads so as to not look into the eyes of the Emperor when he spoke. He was not worthy to look into his eyes.
The Emperor turned back to Kanam, and drew up the hood of his cloak. "For now sit tight. It is not yet time to announce my return. I still gather the rest of the eleven. When the rest are gathered I will send for you."
Kanam was going to be one of the eleven! He, the lonely unappreciated scholar, was going to be one of the eleven generals! "Has the plan changed your holiness?"
The Emperor strolled up to Kanam and placed a hand on his shoulder! "Plans always change, Kanam. But the end goal is always the same. Sit tight and read your books. I've rummaged through some of them while you were away. You have a mighty fine collection."
Kanam radiated happiness as he heard The Emperor leave and close the door to his house behind him! The Emperor here had gone through his books! His holy hands had touched them! Kanam literally was ready to jump for joy. Suddenly becoming Chief Elder did not seem such an impossible mission after all.
((OOC: If you're ready we can close the thread. I was gonna let you pick where they get sent off too when we return to them. I assume were going back to Orion and Damien though right?))
