When they reached the pond, Ryo rubbed her eyes in an effort to make them adjust to the dark. She was just about too step onto the first stone when it just so happened to move when David warned her. After catching her balance she watched as David effortlessly leapt from stone to stone. A smile curled on her face as she watched the stones sway to and fro, timing them before taking her first jump.
With her heavy axe-shield and blade she was unable to move as gracefully or leap as far as David. For the next stone she had to get a running start and landed with her left foot slipping on the edge and into the ice-cold water. But aside from that she was able to make it across without any other problems, leaving her to try to shake off the excess water from her now heavy foot.

Once Ryo was across David moved around to the left side of the house, where a door-sized hole was covered by an old brown blanket. He brushed it aside and entered the single large room, glancing around more out of habit than worry. It was completely bare, with the only feature being a raised platform of the same stone as the walls right in the center. "This ought to do just fine, as long as we don't get too crazy."
He covered the distance to the platform in a few long strides, only to hop up once he reached it. The platform itself could hold Ryo and David comfortably, and he waved her over after moving to the far half. "We're going to start here. I want you to sit down in the middle here, and put your sword in your lap."

Once inside Ryo also took a look around. With nothing else in sight of the secluded house she felt safe enough to remove her shield and place it on the platform as she got on it. She did as Davide instructed and sat with her legs tucked beneathe her and her sword laying across her lap with the blade facing outward. As soon as she was settled and reassured herself her shield was in arm's reach she looked up at David to know what was next.

David waited for Ryo to get settled in, then continued with his instructions. "Alright, this next part is going to probably be the hardest. I want you to close your eyes and focus on your body. Then try to..." He paused to find the right words, "reach out, I guess, with your mind. Try to remember how your mind and body felt when you used magic in the past, and replicate that feeling. It's still there, but something is standing between you and it. We need to find out what."

"Alright, I think I understand," she said before taking in a slow breath and closed her eyes. She placed one hand on the hilt of her sword and the other on the center of the blade. Ryo thought about the feeling she had whenever using a spell through her weapon and the green orb imbedded in it began to glow in response.
Although it was feint, Ryo could feel traces of her magic inside of her. It was like having a second pulse which was very weak and distant. Every muscle inside of her began to tense as she tried to reach for it like so many times before. But every attempt left her feeling pushed back like some opposing, magnetic force was keeping her away. The harder she tried the brighter the orb shined until the glow began to pulsate to the rhythm within her.

David immediately noticed when Ryo started trying, since her aura began to grow larger. He could even tell when she found some traces of magic thanks to small eddies of color appearing. Everything seemed to be working well, until it all stopped suddenly. It almost looked like there was some sort of barrier enclosing her aura, and he knew that she had found the seal.
He watched for a while longer, hoping she could break through on her own, but he could see her muscles tensing even as the orb grew brighter. Once it began to pulse, he decided the moment was right. "Keep doing exactly the same thing. I'm going to help you get through the seal by adding some of my energy to yours, but I need physical contact to do it."
He moved behind her and placed his hand on her right shoulder. She couldn't see it, but he shut his eyes and focused within his body, pulling his own life energy up from his core. It warmed him as it passed through his arm and into his hand, much like sunlight warms the ground. His touch allowed him to sense Ryo's struggle, and he allowed a small amount of energy to pass into Ryo, where it joined her own energy in the push. The energy would then be under her control, hopefully giving her enough force to break through.

All Ryo could do was give a nod when David said he would giver her some of a his energy. She was grinding her teeth by the time he placed his hand on her shoulder. It felt like her entire body was on edge and straining against the seal within her. The warm energy relaxed her shoulder muscles slightly and the the rest of her body followed.
At first she wasn't sure how to use this new energy. Even for a little bit it was more than she was use to. After what felt like hours to her but was closer to just minutes, Ryo started to focus the energy with her own to press on against the seal. She felt it pushing back more but with David's help she felt it starting to give. ”I...I almost got it!" she gasped. "Grr...so...close."

David continued to focus on the flow of energy, barely even noticing that Ryo had spoken. He could sense how close they were, but any more of his Life Energy could be dangerous to both of them. He needed something for one last push, but he wasn't sure what would happen if he did. He remembered how excited Ryo had been at the prospect of recovering her magic, and that decided him.
"Hang on to yourself. This last push could get interesting." He lessened the flow of Life Energy by about half, then focused on the Light and Darkness within him. Connected by the flow, he was fairly certain that Ryo could sense what was happening with him as he forced the two opposing elements together with the original flow.
Had anyone else been in the room they would have seen a violet glow appear around him, growing stronger every moment. "Here we go." A second later he added the synthetic Twilight to the original flow, returning it to its previous size as it entered Ryo. The new energy was far denser than before, far more potent. An apt comparison would be two cubes of the same size, one made of salt and the other made of steel.
Every fraction of his concentration was focused on keeping that energy under control, but it was far more difficult than simply using it to amplify the physical body. He honestly had no idea what would happen if it merged with Ryo's magic.

Ryo gasped when she felt the new, more powerful energy suddenly flow through her. It was too much for her at first. She felt herself losing control and the power as her attacks on the seal seemed less and less direct. The vein in her forehead was ready to leap through her skin as she put every ounce of concentration she could on keeping her hold on David's energy.
The power was slowly spreading throughout her body in black and white flashes and sparks. An almost feral growl could be heard from the young teen as she fought harder to regain control. In doing so, she awakened a once forgotten memory of her mother. She could hear her voice, clear as day, giving her her very first magic lesson. Tears began to stream down Ryo's face but she felt herself gaining control again. The green orb from her sword glew fiercely in response.
The white and black surges of power in her aura subsided and were redirected towradfs the seal. It gave way more and more until Ryo felt something crack and then shatter inside of her. She let out a painful gasp and her body tensed up to the brink of spasming but thankfully it was only for a second. A cobalt blue aura was now surrounding her and is was not only easing her body but empowering it. But it lasted just briefly before every faded down too acvalm bubbling within her and the orb in her sword eased its light to a calming hum as well.

The instant David felt the seal break he pulled as much energy as he could back into him. The recoil actually pushed him back a foot, but that was the least of his concerns. He had created so much Twilight that his body couldn't store it safely, and the pressure was building. Thankfully, he knew an easy way to let it out. "I need to let some of this excess energy out."
He moved to the far side of the room and let his elements flow freely, creating a swirling mass of white, black, and purple that completely hid him from view for a moment before bursting apart. David's appearance had drastically changed in those few moments. His golden blond hair was now the same purple his eyes had been and had grown to reach his waist, although it was still partially spiked near the top. The whites of his eyes had become black, while his irises were the purest white. He now radiated raw power in vast quantities, six times more than before, but it was completely controlled.
He carefully stretched, forcing his body to move at a normal speed as he returned to the center platform. Even with that conscious effort his "hop" onto the raised surface nearly reached the ceiling, causing him to frown up at it. He spoke softly, but within his voice rumbled an otherworldly power even so. "It seems I need to relearn how to control my Aspect indoors." He grinned again as he looked back at Ryo. "Congratulations on getting through that! I was going to offer to help you try out some of your skills, but we may want to wait until my Aspect wears off."

While catching her breath, Ryo looked at David in awe. To most people she was sure such a sight would be terrifying; but as she looked over this new form of his she couldn't help but be impressed and inspired. With shakey legs she rose to her feet, using her sword to pull herself up. "Heh, you have no idea how bad I want to try out my magic. But I don't want to lose a spar so quickly either; so perhaps in a few minutes," she said with a smirk.

David laughed at Ryo's comment, that odd voice of power echoing within the room. "I've never lost in my Aspect. In fact," he moved around the wall to behind Ryo literally in the blink of an eye, "Usually the fight's over before I can even get warmed up." He moved back to his original spot just as fast, a grin on his face. "I'll be done using up the energy in a few minutes, then we'll see what you can do."

Ryo gasped as she tried to keep her eye on him. But he was so fast he was back in his original spot before she could turn her head fast enough. She let out a low whistle as she looked over his aspect form a second time. "So does this happen every time you use a lot of your twilight power? What other thing can you do in this form?" She was starting to feel like a little kid now. As embarrassing as it could be she just couldn't get over her fascination with this new form of power before her. It was like nothing she had seen before.

David's grin grew as Ryo started in with questions. "Using my Elemental Aspect has nothing to do with the amount of Twilight I use, but it is fueled by that energy. It's not possible for me to activate it by accident. In fact, I doubt anyone other than a Celderatian, my actual race, can do it, and it takes us about eight years of training. As for what I can do in it..."
He motioned for Ryo to follow him, then walked back outside. "I lose the ability to call my keyblade in this form, so I use this," he created a blade out of pure Twilight, "instead. I also have two attack skills that can only be used in this form. Number one is the Twilit Sickle, as demonstrated on that little island behind the house." He swung his new sword, launching a sickle shaped blast of pure Twilight at the small island. The blast didn't even slow down until it hit the cavern wall, cleanly slicing the island in two.
Pleased with his work, David turned back to Ryo and continued his explanation. "The second attack is my most powerful, called End of Twilight. I can't show you that one, because there is no place in Traverse Town big enough to survive the twenty yard blast zone. The only problem is that it's a one hit wonder. Once I use it my Aspect immediately ends."

She let out a low whistle as she watched the small island split into two from his attack. Her blue eyes looked over the blade with intrigue before glance at her own in wonder. "So then what exactly causes you to take on that form? Have you ever had to use your other attack?"
By now she was feeling her energy returning and she was getting anxious to try out her magic. Her fingers were dancing at her sides with anticipation while she listened to David. Ryo could feel the once sleeping power course through her, wanting to be used and exersized like a weak muscle that had been unused after seven years.

David closed his eyes and focused for a moment, then a flash of purple Twilight enveloped him. When it vanished, he had reverted to his normal form, although a few light injuries he had previously sported had vanished. "An Elemental Aspect is created by absorbing massive amounts of that particular Element, forcing the body to become a physical embodiment of that Element. As for the other attack, I've only used it twice so far in real combat."
He then noticed Ryo's restlessness, and his keyblade appeared in his right hand as he gestured with his left. "But enough about me. I can see you've recovered, so let's see what you've got." He smoothly assumed his usual battle stance, the keyblade in both hands pointed up at an angle with his feet about shoulder width apart. "Don't worry about hurting me. I've been training for combat for fifteen years."

Ryo thought about David's explanation on element absorbing and was just about to ask another question until he opened the challenge to her. Her lips thinned into a wide grin as she held up her sword in a ready stance. Just as she was getting read to make the first move she realized she left her shield back inside the house. No matter, she was going to need a free hand to test out her magic anyway.
As she began to summon her first spell, Ryo felt a surging energy flow through her, one she hadn't felt n a long time. A heat concentrated itself into her left arm and then focused into her hand. With just a moment's concentration, Ryo focused that heat into a ball of blue fire. But to her disappointment it was only the size of a jawbreaker, barely large enough to fill her palm. Oh well. With a grunt we reeled her arm back And hurled the little blue flame towards David's chest.

David watched Ryo's aura with interest as she channeled her newly reawakened power. The results may have been slightly disappointing, but they were still something. He was nearly caught off guard when she threw the small fireball like a pitcher, but instinct brought his keyblade up to block, and the flame hit the flat of the crystal. "Not bad for the first try. I'll give you a few more freebies to get warmed up."

Ryo nodded at David before holding her hand out infront of her. With her palm upward she tried a Blizzard spell next. Her whole body began to shiver as she felt the cold start to form. She thought about her throw with the Fire spell and decided to try something different since she was right handed. Before the Blizzard spell had finished forming she placed her left hand onto the orb of her sword and watched as it absorbed it. Normally her sword was just a catalyst that could be enchanted by magic, but as the raw surge of magic began to flow through it the green orb shined with Ryo's blue aura for the first time. With an excited grin, Ryo pulled pulled back her blade and made a horizontal slash in the air as she cried out the spell's name this time and watched the white and pale blue spell hurl itself at David.

David thought fast as the Blizzard spell flew toward him, trying to decide how he wanted to counter it. Just before it hit he decided, but by then it was too late to dodge. Instead, he blocked the center with his keyblade, creating a layer of frost on the crystal and on the sleeves of his T-shirt. He glanced at the frost for a moment, then grinned at Ryo again. "Not bad, but try a diagonal slice next time. It's harder to dodge and can hit more of the target's body."
