"I personally believe it to be a little bit of both. I do not know if the tale was a hundred percent accurate. However according to history the last dragon to live in the Land of Dragons was put to death by a storm of angry villagers. When I asked for information about the tale a man shared that story with me."
Bartimaeus explained to the two of them as they finally made it to the doorstop of the castle. Lara nodded in understanding to Bartimaeus, but at the same time she couldn't take her eyes away from this forbidding castle. The castle was the epitome of creepy. She would have much rather done almost anything else than head into this place.
"You're a Captain. Start acting like it." She told herself silently.
"Who are you kidding? You've always been a scardy cat." The voice of Alvi mocked inside her head. What he said might have been true back when she was still Amber. But now? She was tougher now! "You're not fooling anyone with that false sense of confidence."
Lara drowned out Alvi's voice and spoke up. "I doubt whatever is in there will be very happy to see us." Her statement was in response to Rekka's question.
"Well I say we don't just stand there. Let's try and see if those giant doors will open." Bartimaeus said and started up the staircase in front of him. Following behind, Lara walked up the stairs as well. As they reached the top step the might doors in front of them began to swing inward of their own accord. "Totally typical danger zone here ladies."
Lara couldn't agree more with Bartimaeus. Inside the doors a hallway awaited for them. Despite its old and worn outer appearance, clean marble floors and a lit hallway greeted them. Along both sides of the wall were various animal heads perched on brown wooden plaques. The heads of all kinds of predators looked down upon them.

Rekka thought to herself about what Bartimaeus had said about the angry villagers part. Maybe that was the dragon that got killed over it? That eventually lead to the thing's demise because of eating that old man? "Hm...well, I guess that would explain the angry villagers thing..."
"Still, if it were true, the mayor then had two deaths on his head because of his meddling. If it really was the full extent and truth behind that story." She gave a shrug then. One would never know unless they heard the full tale but the right one.
As soon as they reached the castle, Rekka heard Lara's voice speak up. It had been in response to what she asked about the castle. "...Yeah." It was the only thing she could think to say at the time as she glanced up at it too. It really was eerie looking. Like Lara, Rekka would rather be running away from the thing than walking right up to it.
Bartimaeus, however, seemed to be undaunted by the appearance of the castle. He simply strode right up to the large doors after telling them they shouldn't just stand there. As soon as he reached the doors, they opened on their own accord. Rekka guessed that those Heartless they faced earlier, if the doors opening were of the work of the Necromancer, that they were under careful watch right now. No doubt, the Heartless had been a test. At least, that's what Rekka had assumed. As the doors opened, Bartimaeus spoke to them about it being an obvious danger zone.
As the doors opened, Rekka could see a hallway open to them. It didn't look inhabited but it was very clean compared to the outside and seemingly unkempt way of things. There were all sorts of animal heads on either wall that seemed to be looking down at them. It gave Rekka a creepier feeling.
"...Do we really have to go in there?" Rekka asked them before sighing. No use, even she knew the answer to that question. Bracing herself, Rekka started to walk up and into the hallway. "No use anyway...they already seem to know we're here."

Lara walked down the hallway with her ears open and eyes fixed upon the scene as a whole. She did not want to take time to focus on the things on the walls or anything like that. Instead she wanted to keep her senses fully open for enemies.
"What an... interesting... hallway." Bartiameus made the observation. Unlike Lara his eyes were wandering over the many animal heads on the wall. "I must say some of these animals aren't even from this world. That one there is actually from a world that was called the Deep Jungle. Before it was lost in the war..."
Bartimaeus cut himself off mid sentence when Lara raised her hand. At the end of the hallway a staircase heading downward awaited for them. The staircase was much older compared to this hallway. Not only that but Lara could hear the sound of clinking coming from down below.
"What do you think it is?" Lara asked. It was a series of clinking that echoed from the staircase.
"I don't know, but I think were about to find out if we go down there."

Rekka glanced at the animals more closely when Bartimaeus informed them that the animals, some of them, weren't even from this world. He even went as far as pointing one out to them. Since Rekka didn't know much about things before the war, since it had been long before her time, she was eager to see something that hadn't been seen anymore. The animal was definitely something she had never seen before.
Apparently, it was a part of a world called "Deep Jungle". It came from that world before the war. No doubt, that world had to be destroyed. There were only five left. It was sad to know that nothing remained of the worlds save for just the five now. When Bartimaeus cut himself short, Rekka followed his gaze to where Lara had raised her hand, signaling for silence.
Rekka went quiet as she heard Lara speak. Sure enough, there was a clinking sound. Something, no doubt, metallic by the sound of it. Rekka furrowed her brow for a moment. What was that? That was a very good question for even Rekka couldn't figue it out. There couldn't possibly be a war or something going on inside? That didn't seem likely in a place as desolate as this. The sound appeared to be coming from the staircase though.
Bartimaeus was the first to respond, stating that he didn't know but they were likely to find out if they went down that way. Rekka unsheathed her father's sword, preparing for what might be down that staircase. "Best to be prepared then..." she trailed off. "I don't know what that sound is either but it sounds like there's more than one of whatever it is down there."

Amber led the way down the staircase. It was a circular staircase lit by damp side lights. The farther down they went the louder the clicking sounded. Bartimaeus also offered more information, "These walls are getting older the farther we go down. Just look at the moss on these walls." He told them.
Glancing up at the sealing Lara spotted what the bard was speaking of. There was moss hanging from above, shown only in the shadow of the dim lights. Lara still had never dismissed the axe she had on her shoulder and she let it drop from her shoulder so that it was ready.
"Rekka you take our back if there's trouble. I'll take point. Bartimaeus you'll have to take the middle." Lara would take the point or frontal position for a specific reason. After what happened in the mountain pass she wasn't going to let anyone else get hurt on her watch.
"Sounds like a plan." As they rounded another curve the end of the staircase came into eyesight. However with a sealing above them still they couldn't see what lay at the end. Tightening her grip on her axe, Lara stepped down first and into whatever awaited them below.

Rekka silently followed Lara and Bartimaeus down the staircase. Lara lead the way downward. Rekka couldn't be sure what lay in store for them but she hoped it wouldn't be something dreadful at the end. As they got down farther, the clicking sound had gotten louder. Bartimaeus spoke, informing them just how old the walls were. Now that he had mentioned it, the walls really were looking unkempt. The moss attested to that very clearly. Just how old was this place anyway? No use pondering that now, they had to keep going.
'If something really messed up pops up, I am going to town on it!' Rekka thought nervously. Literally, if something did, she would just hack away and not stop. Rekka had her fair share of scares and death to last a life time and yet it looked like she was going to get more of it. When, she wasn't sure but judging the clicking sound, very soon. Her nerves were standing on end.
Rekka's heart almost leapt out of her throat when Lara suddenly spoke to her. Lara had summoned her axe now that Rekka looked at the back of her. Hearing Lara's words, Lara was taking the point, Bartimaeus the middle and her the back. 'The back...why does this sound so familiar?' she thought nervously. "I...uh...right!" she answered Lara with a nod but she probably didn't see it with her back turned. Oh well, Rekka had still acknowledged it.
Eventually, the end of the staircase came into sight. Rekka glanced behind them to make sure nothing was sneaking up from behind before looking towards the others. Lara had just stepped off the staircase. From her vantage point, Rekka couldn't see much farther ahead of them. After Lara stepped down into it, eventually, Rekka would after depending on if Bartimaeus stepped down after Lara had.

A large room awaited them down below. Inside the room, Lara's eyes locked on what appeared to be two skeletons locked in a display of sword fighting in the center of the room. People lined the wall all the way around the room in a variety of outfits, colors, and even skin complexions. None of them spoke as the skeletons combated, simply watching instead. Past the fighting skeletons a woman sat on a large chair made of trembling skeletons on a raised platform. Dressed in black pants, a black coat with red sleeves, one red gloved hand tapped on a skeleton's flat hand that made up part of an arm rest of her throne while the other clutched a long black staff where a glowing blue skeleton made of fire burned in a skeleton's rib cage. She had long black hair that raised in two red points at the sides of her head.
As Lara entered the the large room with Bartimaeus and Rekka soon following she simply stood there dumbstruck. Just what had they walked into?! No one acknowledged them or even turned their way. Lara's eyes scanned the room, spotting torches on the walls and chandeliers above. Glancing over at Rekka and Bartimaeus, Lara wondered what they should do. The woman in that large chair with the large staff did not look too friendly. In fact she was frowning. Lara couldn't tell if she was frowning at them or the skeletons.
"Perhaps we should go back?" Bartimaeus whispered.
"I will be with you in a moment living ones. Soon as one of my pets hurry up." The woman across the room spoke with a delicate voice, but it carried across quite loud enough.
Bartimaeus continued. "I don't think we should listen to her. If she is the necromancer then..."
Before Bartimaeus could finish his sentence the woman tapped the end of her staff on the ground quite loudly. It caused two things to happen. The first was that a wall of vines suddenly appeared behind them sealing off the way they came. The second was that the skeletons suddenly fell apart. One moment they were alive with swinging arms and the next they dropped to the floor with a clunk.
"I was growing bored of this anyway. Come forward living beings. It has been so long since I've encountered an actual living person. Tell me who you are and why the hell you are in my domain."

As the descended the stairs, finally coming out into the room they were hearing the clinking coming from, Rekka looked around in wonder. It looked like they had stepped into a small arena. Well, more like a room fashioned to be an arena since at the center, she could see two skeletons in battle. There were several others present from what she could see but none made no indication that they had seen them. In fact, none moved and all seemed focused on the center of that arena.
On the opposite side, Rekka could easily find the Necromancer. She wasn't very hard to spot since she was the only one here that looked alive. Everything else here was clearly undead. Rekka tried hard to not look at those that had some flesh on them. It made her stomach curdle. Well, at least neither of them were being attacked right off. Rekka was greatful for that. At least she had a bit of time to take in exactly what the heck she walked in on with Lara and Bartimaeus.
Bartimaeus spoke, stating that maybe they should go back. Rekka was perfectly fine with that idea. She very much would love to get away from one of the nearby undead whom still looked as if he had or she had some flesh still dangling on its bones. She couldn't help but feel queasy just knowing what she had seen as she tried to focus on the dead center of the arena at the combating skeletons. As if she had heard Bartimaeus, the Necromancer spoke. Rekka brought her gaze over to her as she informed them that she would be with them in a moment once her pets hurried up. So this was how the Necromancer entertained herself. Her appearance certainly didn't seem friendly.
The bard didn't seem like he wanted to wait. Rekka couldn't help but look over at Bartimaeus curiously. He had been more optimistic than they were about coming here. Maybe he got freaked out a bit? She couldn't blame him though. Rekka didn't like where they were either. As if sensing Bartimaeus's intentions, a vine wall suddenly appeared behind them after a loud tapping noise from the Necromancer's staff. It had also caused the skeletons in the center fighting to immediately stop and become nothing but a heap of bones again. Well, now they had no choice but to interact with the woman. Hopefully, their first impressions could be proved wrong but Rekka wasn't sure if that would be the case for them.
Rekka looked to Lara and Bartimaeus as the woman beckoned them forth. They didn't have a choice at this point. Once Lara took the lead, if she did, Rekka would follow her. She would not speak out of turn since Lara was the leader of their little band. 'I hope we survive this,' Rekka thought with a sigh to herself.

Lara's mind was pretty much in the same spot as Rekka's. She was slightly disturbed and worried about their situation. Necromancers were not easy to deal with. They were very powerful mages who excelled in the art of bringing back the dead. Who knew what other dark magic they had access too?
Forcing a lump down her throat, Lara forced herself to step forward. "Hello. My name is Lara and this is Rekka and Bartimaeus. We fell through a portal and sort of landed here." Lara thought it was best to be honest. They did not know just yet if this person was a foe. She was ready if the Necromancer turned out to be an enemy.
The Necromancer rolled her eyes and leaned on her hand. "Boooorrrring!" She exclaimed. "I'm so tired of all of you. I'm tired of these stupid sword fighting games. I thought you livings would come to kill the mean Necromancer. But no! You're just trying to get out of my kingdom. UGH!!!"
What was Lara to say? She hadn't expected that kind of answer from the woman. Why would the necromancer want them to come to kill her?
"Mother shut..." The necromancer spoke to the air to her right before she came to a sudden pause. Her head snapped back and turned directly to Lara. "I do see it mother. But why would... Oh how interesting!" Standing up the necromancer stood at about five foot five. With quite a surprise speed she strolled over towards them.
Tensing up, Lara found herself taking a step back away from the approaching necromancer. Was she coming to attack?
The necromancer came to a stop about three feet away from Lara. Bartimaeus had his dagger out, and stepped forward on Lara's left so that he was right next to her. In fact he stepped forward past Lara in attempt to put himself between the necromancer and her. In response the necromancer suddenly snapped her head in his direction. There was a deep malice in the look she sent his way.

Rekka remained put as Lara took the initiative to speak. Introducing them, Rekka wondered what to expect. It looked like that lying wouldn't get them anywhere so it had been a wise decision for Lara to do so. It still wasn't a pleasant thing though for this Necromancer to know their real names. That is, if Bartimaeus's name was his real name. What Lara gave the Necromancer didn't seem to please her any though. In fact, she commented on how boring their response had been.
Apparently, through the years, she had been hoping for a fight from the living but instead was disappointed. Were they going to be thrown into a fight? The Necromancer began to talk to her side as if someone were there but Rekka saw no one. Then, she looked to their group suddenly before stating that she saw it. Saw what? Then, the Necromancer stated how interesting something was. Before either of them could figure out what she was speaking of, the woman had approached them at an alarmingly swift speed.
It looked like her eyes were only for Lara then. Rekka furrowed her brows in wonder as she cluthced her sword a bit more firmly though she didn't raise it just yet. Bartimaeus put himself next to Lara and seemed as if he were intent on getting between the two. It was clear that the Necromancer didn't like what the bard was doing. Still, Rekka couldn't blame the bard's reaction. They couldn't be certain what this woman would do to them. Maybe there was a chance she didn't know how to interact with the living after so long?
"...Forgive us but...we've been through a lot. If you don't mind my asking, what is interesting?" Rekka inquired. She was referring to what the woman had called interesting. She had stepped a bit closer to Lara as if to reassure her that Bartimaeus and she were still there.

The necromancer glanced over to Rekka as if she had seen her for the first time. She glanced her up and down like an opponent would. "Miss Rekka, I believe your name was, I find it interesting that a spirit would cling to your friend as he does." She indicated Lara by leaning her staff towards her.
Not exactly sure what the necromancer was talking about Lara raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean a spirit cling's to me?"
Rising her staff, the necromancer tapped it on the ground once more. When she did a sudden see through ghost appeared next to Lara. She of course did not see it just yet, but Bartimaeus did. It was an elvan child who appeared to be in his early teens. He had gold colored spiky hair and green emerald eyes. He was dressed in black shorts, small children's boots, and a plain brown shirt.
"G...g...GHOST!" Bartimaeus shouted and pointed next to Lara. Glancing down next to her Lara practically leaped backwards.
"Alvi!" Lara said in shock and confusion. "Why would Alvi's ghost be here when he's alive and well in Elfenhiem?" Wait was Alvi dead?!
Alvi's eyes went from Lara, to the necromancer, then to Bartimaeus and Rekka. "Wait you guys can see me?!" He asked.
The necromancer let out a small chuckle. "Yes they can spirit. I have brought you fully into the plane of the living for the time being."

Rekka hoped she had alleviated the tension in the air. She would rather not battle what looked like something powerful. When she spoke up, she could then feel the Necromancer's gaze upon her. Rekka stood her ground despite her uneasiness knowing that the Necromancer was clearly sizing her up. Maybe she didn't think what Rekka had said had been true? Eventually, she had answered Rekka's question. According to the Necromancer, there was a spirit clinging to Lara. Rekka looked at her in surprise. A spirit clung to Lara? Rekka brought her gaze onto Lara in amazement. Was it true?
The necromancer tapped the end of her staff on the ground again. When she did the image of a spirit appeared. Rekka had taken a step back in her surprise. It looked like an elf with pointed ears. He was young looking for an elf though. Bartimaeus reacted by pointing at the ghost sounding afraid or shocked by its sudden appearance. Lara almost seemed to leap back in her surprise as well.
Apparently, Lara had known the spirit. Rekka didn't know when Lara had known the spirit but it was obvious she knew him since she had called out his name in her surprise. Rekka looked back at the elf ghost in wonder. It took the ghost a moment to realize that they could see him as he glanced around the room at those all looking at him now. When he asked if they could, the necromancer had answered him saying that they could and she had made him visible for the time being.
"...You know him, Lara?" Rekka questioned her, still looking up at the elf ghost. She couldn't help it. It wasn't like she could see this sort of thing every day.

Such confusion! Lara didn't understand what was going on at all! How could Alvi be here when he was supposed to be back in Elfenhiem. Lara just kept blinking at him. The ghost of Alvi glanced over at the necromancer. "Wait... does this mean I can like finally like do things in this world beyond watch?"
The necromancer chuckled. "No spirit. You have no body to influince the world. I simply brought you fully into this plane instead of the half in and half out you were doing with her. However perhaps you could tell me why a spirit is haunting a human."
Alvi crossed his arms. "I wasn't haunting her! Besides if someone doesn't look after this foolish half elf, she's going to forget she's an elf at all!"
Rekka's question came in at about this point. Lara had yet to say anything to Alvi or anyone else for that matter. "He was an elf I grew up with... But I don't understand Alvi. How are you here? Are you like dead?" It might have been a stupid question with an obvious answer, but Lara had to ask.
The necromancer was the one to answer before anyone else. "Well obviously. Otherwise he'd be a living being and not a spirit."
"See Rekka! You never know when something interesting might happen." Glancing back to Bartimaeus who just spoke, Lara found the bard sitting Indian Style on the ground with a notebook in his lap and a feather pen in his hand.
"And just what are you doing?" She asked.
Bartimaeus gave Lara a smile as he answered, "Recording of course. I told you I record stories and I wanted to record your travels."
Lara eyed Bartimaeus like he was insane. "This is not the time to be recording Bartimaeus!"
Bartimaeus rolled his eyes. "There is never a good time to record Captain. Best to do it while the information is fresh!"
The necromancer's sudden laughter broke Lara's thought process. "My what interesting folks! Now this, this is entertaining. Much better then silly fights and killing. I don't think I'll kill you three after all."
"Why thank you Miss Necromancer." Bartimaeus said.
Alvi retorted him, "Don't thank her. She's an evil necromancer."
Lara just said, "I think I'm going insane."

Rekka stood there as the ghost elf spoke to the Necromancer, asking if he could do more than just watch. The Necromancer informed Alvi that he couldn't since he had no body. She just permitted him to be visible to them and interact with them. Then, the woman asked Alvi why he was haunting Lara. Rekka wondered the same thing. Why was a spirit following her around? It didn't make much sense to her. Alvi simply crossed his arms and stated that he wasn't haunting but keeping an eye on Lara. Apparently, he was probably a spirit guide for her. At least, that would explain why Alvi was attached to Lara.
Lara turned to Rekka and answered her question. Alvi was an elf that Lara had grown up with. What she didn't understand was why he was here and was he dead. Well, it definitely looked it. Rekka wasn't sure how else to explain the fact he looked like a spirit. The Necromancer told them the obvious. It would explain her power over the spirit in this fashion so Alvi had to be one.
Out of the confusion, Bartimaeus spoke up to Rekka. Rekka looked over to find the bard was plopped on the ground and writing away in a notebook. "...Bartimaeus?" Before Rekka could question him further, Lara had asked him what he was doing. Sure enough, the bard claimed he was scribbling down a record of their travels. At this, Rekka brought a hand to her face and shook her head. "You-!" she couldn't even find words to describe just how she felt right now in reaction to what the bard was doing. He really was an oddball in their group.
The necromancer seemed to be highly amused by all of this. In fact, she was so amused that she claimed she wouldn't kill them after all. Well, at least they didn't have to fight to the death now. So, Bartimaeus's time couldn't be any better for his randomness. The bard even thanked the necromancer when she stated that she might not kill them. Alvi then yakked at the bard to not thank her since she was an evil necromancer. When Lara spoke, Rekka had to think the same thing.
"You're just...full of surprises, Bartimaeus." Rekka wasn't sure how else to say it. The middle aged man certain didn't act his age at times. Well, at least this behavior saved them for once. Rekka certainly hoped it did.
"I might follow you into insanity, Lara."

Lara was glad to see she wasn't the only one somewhat bothered by all of this. Bartimaeus just responded to Rekka with a smile. He was to busy writing apparently.
"Answer my question spirit." The necromancer commanded Alvi.
Alvi just rolled his eyes. "I don't answer to anybody. Least of all a human!"
"Alvi! Mind your manners!" The statement came out before Lara even realized she said it. The phrase was something she had often said when she was younger. Even though Alvi was older than her, Amber had often been the one to stand up to him. None of the other kids ever stood up to Alvi. They were all to afraid of him.
The young spirit's response was to fold his arms and pout. "My you must have been young when you died." The necromancer said.
That brought up a good point. Just how had Alvi died? "I still don't understand how you are dead. And why your 'haunting' me!" The second part bothered her more than the first. Alvi's voice in her head must have been real all of this time.
"I..." Alvi began before looking away in what seemed like embarrassment.
The necromancer encouraged him. "Go on."
"Well you see it happened a year after you left. I had um... I went on the other side of the wall." Lara's eyes perked up at that. The wall was what they had run into right before being portaled here. The wall was what separated the mists and forbidding forest from the villages of Elfenhiem. Only one who had permission was allowed beyond the wall.
"I was attacked by something. Next thing I knew I was dead and stuck half way in the world of the living. I could see and hear everything around but no one could see, hear, interact with me or me it. So I wandered the world and I came upon you. Amber you were in those barracks in that large city. I just happened to say something and you stiffened. I realized you could hear me and I've followed you since. I've found a couple other spirits during my time with you. They told me that I must have some unfinished business. That's why I was stuck in between. So I just have been following you. Hoping to figure out why I can't move on."
Lara didn't know what to say. Alvi's story was a sad one. She couldn't even begin to know what it might feel like to be stuck in between the world of the living and the dead.
"Ahem." Bartimaeus interjected clearing his throat. "Can you clarify this wall you spoke of?" Lara glanced back and saw Bartimaues waiting with the pen in the air. Her eyes narrowed in annoyance. If someone didn't smack the bard, Lara was going to punch him.

Rekka shook her head even more when Bartimaeus did nothing but simply smile, returning to his writing again as if he hadn't heard a word. The bard definitely was their oddball of the group. Ignoring them, the necromancer focused her attention on Alvi's spirit. She wanted im to answer a question but Alvi refused to. In doing so, he received scolding from Lara in return. Alvi simply pouted, folding his arms more like a child would do. In response, the necromancer commented on how Alvi must have been young when he had died.
Lara, curious about how Alvi could have died, asked him about it and why he was haunting her. It didn't make sense to her at all. Alvi made to respond but seemed to silence himself out of embarrassment. He didn't go on until the necromancer urged him to answer. Finally, Alvi revealed that a year after Lara had left, he had gone onto the other side of the wall.
Alvi had been attacked once he had been on the other side of the wall and before he knew it, he was dead but stuck between the living and the dead. He had ended up in a state where he couldn't interact with anything or anything with him except for fellow spirits. So, he traveled, not sure what to do before finding Amber. Having interacted with her, Alvi realized that Amber/Lara could hear him because she had stiffened when he had interacted with her. Thus, he had the theory that she could hear him and it proved to be true. Alvi couldn't figure out why he was in this state. It was a sad one.
"Sorry to hear that, Alvi." Rekka wasn't sure what else to say. It hadn't been a happy tale, that was for sure and she was sorry for the spirit. He was a friend of Lara's...well, Amber's. Why did Lara ever felt the need to conceal her real name from everyone? Well, she had her reasons, Rekka wasn't going to ask why. It wasn't any of her business anyway. If Lara chose to conceal her real name, that was her business.
With a clearing of his throat, Bartimaeus directed everyone's attention back onto him as he spoke. Requesting that ALvi clarify what this wall was that he spoke of. Rekka turned to him with hands on her hips. Walking over to where the middle aged man was, Rekka frowned down at him as she turned to face Lara, the nceromancer and Alvi. When she did, she not-so-subtly aimed a thwack at the back of Bartimaeus's head. It was hard enough to get the message across but not enough to hurt bad.

Bartimaeus was lucky that it had been Rekka to thwack him and not Lara. If it had been her she wouldn't have hesitated to sucker punch the bard. In response to Rekka, Bartimaeus let out a surprised, "Yeow! What did you do that for?!" His free hand reached behind and rubbed the spot that Rekka had thwacked.
Lara chose not to answer the bard. It was better not to acknowledge his bad behavior. She didn't want more of it to come about. "I'm sorry Alvi. I didn't know. If I had I'd have tried to do something about it. I just thought I was hearing things."
"You could hear the spirit?" The necromancer suddenly chipped in.
Lara nodded. All this time she had thought she was going crazy when in reality it had been Alvi speaking to her. "I avoided his voice for so long..." Everything was starting to make sense now. "Yes. I thought I was just going crazy at first, but this explains things."
Alvi let out a small chuckle. "Every time I would speak she'd freeze just for a half a second. She'd make the same face that she does while going to the bathroom."
"ALVI!" Lara exclaimed in embarrassment and shock. How could he say something like that?!
Alvi was all smiles, contradicting his attempt to play innocent. "What?"
The necromancer seemingly ignored what had just been said because she spoke about Lara again. "To interact with spirits means you must have a little bit of the gift. Hmm... With your permission I would like to test your gift. See just how much talent you have."

Rekka, after successfully thwacking Bartimaeus on the back of the head, just looked down at him with a look of annoyance as he went to rub his head where she got him. "What do you think?" was her retort. Before anything more could take place, Lara had started to speak with Alvi, apologizing about her not realizing it was him the entire time. After she mentioned hearing Alvi, the necromancer piped in. Rekka looked over at the three with interest.
Lara confirmed that she had heard Alvi and that she had thought she had been going crazy at first. Rekka could understand where Lara was coming from. Rekka would have thought the same thing if she heard a bodiless voice speaking to her. No sooner had Lara spoken and Alvi mentioned how Lara's face looked like how she did when she went to the bathroom. No doubt, Lara didn't like that. It made Rekka inwardly chuckle. She had to fight back a laugh that had threatened to get loose just then. She didn't want Lara to get mad at her.
The necromancer addressed Lara's situation. Being able to interact with spirits meant that Lara apparently had some necromancy in her blood. Well, that was something new. Rekka didn't think that Lara could do anything with necromancy but hearing that she had some of the gift was interesting. No sooner had the necromancer said that when she said that she would like to test Lara's gift if Lara gave her permission to.
"If you want to see what you can do, go ahead,Lara. Bartimaeus and I aren't going anywhere..." Rekka trailed off, remembering that they had no idea how to get out of here. Besides, Rekka could understand the want to test out a new power. Rekka wanted to test her fire ability more to see if she could merit anything more than just a fire ball. All she could do was practice with it to make things more reliable for herself. So far, with just a fire ball, she seemed to be getting the hang of it. Just what else could she do? She couldn't even comprehend what else lay within her that she didn't know about. No doubt, the same could be said about Lara since both appeared to be detecting odd powers they never knew they had.

Bartimaeus agreed with Rekka. They were not going to be going anywhere. "Oh yes by all means go ahead. It will give me a chance to catch up to our current conversation."
Lara rolled her eyes at Bartimaeus's comment. On the other hand the aspect of letting the necromancer test her abilities worried her. Not because she feared the necromancer... Rather because she was afraid that the necromancer might be able to tell who her father was. The only person who knew "that" information was Alvi. Lara could see his eyes on her, waiting to see what she would say.
"She's just going to test you for magic. She's not going to be able to figure out anything about your past... I hope." Lara assured herself. She had no way of knowing just what the necromancer might be able to tell. But seriously did she really have anything to lose? "I could loose my head... No way Rekka or Bartimaeus would trust me if they knew "that"."
Still..."Sure I guess." She made a decision.
The necromancer nodded. Stepping forward she stood before Lara and raised her hand. "You won't feel a thing. I'm just going to read your inner ley line."
"My what?" What the heck was an inner ley line?
Fortunately Bartimaeus seemed to know. "Inner Ley Line... It is basically the residue of magic that is left when a person uses an magic. Of course magic is broken into different types of elements. Typically people are born with an element of of magic that comes natural to them. While they might have access to other types of magic, typically one comes naturally to them easier then another. A mage can learn pretty easily find out the element that a user is born naturally with by witnessing them use it. I knew pretty early on about Rekka's natural talent with fire."
Lara nodded in a somewhat understanding of what Bartimaeus said. It was a new subject to her but it seemed to make sense. Lara had witnessed Rekka's abilities when it came to using fire. "But how does that work with necromancy?"
"Those with experience in necromancy can use the spirit element. It is one of the few hidden elements that only other spirit element users can read. There are several hidden elements that people are unaware of." Bartimaeus further explained.
While Bartimaeus was explaining all of this to them, the necromancer's eyes continued to tighten on the man. "What did you say your name was Mr. Writer?" The necromancer asked suspiciously.
Bartimaeus, throughout his explanations, had never stopped writing. Now he stopped. "Bartimaeus... I do not think you have given us your name either necromancer..."
Glancing to the necromancer, Lara watched her eyes tighten even more. "I am called Infusca."
"Innnfussca." Bartimaeus mimicked, returning to his writing.
"It's nice to meet you Infusca."
"Yes, yes. Pleasure's mine." She responded.
Alvi, who had been forgotten for the most part for the moment, chipped in. "Well I don't find it a pleasure at all. You're still evil."
Infusca turned to the spirit. "Perhaps you would like to return to the In-Between..." She threatened. That made Alvi cross his arms and set his face into a pout.
Lara waited patiently for the necromancer. "Alright. Let's see just what there is to see." Raising her hand she rested it on Lara's forehead. Lara waited to feel something from the necromancer. Perhaps a pulse of magic. Or at least a sort of awareness of what the necromancer was doing. But she felt nothing but empty air when the necromancer dropped her hand. For all those watching, the necromancer had shut her eyes and let the hand rest on Lara's forehead for about thirty seconds before pulling it back.
"How odd. I have never actually seen someone who has been born with a both hidden and regular element."
"What do you mean?" She asked, looking for more information.
Returning back a few steps, the necromancer filled her in. "You definitely have talent in the element of spirit. It is quite strong within you already. But there is also a talent for earth magic as well."

Rekka had given a nod as Bartimaeus stated that Lara could go ahead. She only stopped when the bard added that it would give him a chance to catch up to their current conversation. She gave him somewhat of an annoyed look before focusing on Lara and the necromancer. She didn't think the necromancer would be doing her any harm if she had gone through the effort of asking Lara. Unless, of course, that meant some sort of battle but it didn't look it as Lara allowed the necormancer to test her ability.
Rekka wasn't aware of Lara's fear of them all finding out about her secret. Only time would tell if they ever found out or not. Until then, they were all a part of the same group. With everything they had been through Rekka considered them as her friends, Lara more so than Bartimaeus since she still had yet to get to know the bard better.
The necromancer then informed Lara that she wouldn't feel a thing and that all she was going to do was read Lara's ley line. Rekka furrowed her brows in wonder. Just what was a ley line? Lara didn't seem to understand what the necromancer said either. Out of them all, it was Bartimaeus to inform them what a ley line was. What he had said about him knowing Rekka's natural talent with fire earlier on made Rekka look over at him questioningly. Did he mean the time when she first caste a fire ball or before then?
Before Rekka could question the bard further on it, Lara asked him more about how reading her ley line would work with necromancy. Only then did Bartimaeus further explain that only other necromancers could read the spirit element another had. Then, the bard went on to state there were several elements people didn't know of. At this, Rekka gave Bartimaeus another questioning look. He really seemed to be informed with a lot of things. The necromancer even gave the bard a suspicious look before asking him what his name was. Bartimaeus stopped and answered the necromancer with his name and then went on to state that she hadn't given them a name to call her by. It was then revealed that the necromancer's name was Infusca. Everyone gave their greeting then, even Rekka but it was the same generalized words as the rest...save for Alvi.
Alvi had been the one to mention that he wasn't pleased to meet the necromancer since she was evil. In response, Infusca had threatened to put Alvi back into the In-Between. At this, Alvia went silent. The way the spirit pouted showed just how young the elf was even though appearance wise he looked older to Rekka. With that, the necromancer turned her attention on Lara once more. Infusca took her hand and placed it over Lara's forehead. It was a total of thirty seconds before the necromancer had removed her hand from Lara's forehead. Only then did she state that it was odd to find someone born with a hidden and regular element. At this, Rekka furrowed a brow as Lara asked Infusca what she had meant.
Infusca then told Lara that she had a strong spirit element within her but also a talent for earth magic. "Huh, so you've got two elements! Nice one!" Rekka commented with a smile over at Lara. It was nice to learn of new natural elements and powers. Rekka hadn't known of her fire abilities until just recently and now Lara had earth and spirit abilities. They really were more than appeared it seemed. They just hadn't a clue as to how much more they were and they were only half of the number of four.
"Which reminds me...how did you know of my fire abilities earlier, Bartimaeus?" Rekka asked the bard, suddenly reminded.
